TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE VACUUM PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO MONTHS LATER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE OIL IS FULL. SAYING OIL PUMP LOW PRESSURE. THIS STARTED ABOUT 4 WEEKS AGO. IT SEEMS TO ONLY DO THIS WHEN RPM'S ARE 1200 AND BELOW.
WHEN I FIRST START MY F150 2011 AND MOVE IT THE BRAKE PEDAL IS HARD AS A ROCK IT WILL TAKE AT LEAST A FEW MINUTES TO GET BACK TO NORMAL, BUT IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME WHEN FIRST START UP. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT A VACUUM PUMP THAT PROVIDES POWER BRAKING GETS CORRODED. IN MY OPINION THIS PART SHOULD BE RECALL BECAUSE IS A SAFETY ISSUE YOU COULD LOOSE BRAKING, I CHECKED ON THE PART AND IT COST AROUND 600.00. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 70MPH, I SAW MY SPEEDOMETER MOMENTARILY DROP TO 40MPH. IT DID IT AGAIN ABOUT 15 SECONDS LATER, AND DOWNSHIFTED TO ABOUT 4TH GEAR MOMENTARILY. ABOUT A MINUTE LATER, STILL AT 70MPH THE SPEEDOMETER DROPPED, AND THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED TO 1ST GEAR! MY REAR WHEELS LOCKED UP, AND I LOST CONTROL, AND FISHTAILED FOR A FEW SECONDS. LUCKILY I HAD TAKEN A HALF DAY VACATION AND WAS NOT IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. STILL OTHER CARS HAD TO SWERVE TO KEEP FROM BEING HIT. THE DEARLERSHIP WAS ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, AND REPLACED A MOULDED PLASTIC MODULE MADE BY CONTINENTAL THAT I THINK CONTAINED THE TRANSMISSION SPEED SENSOR. SO IT APPEARS THAT WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL IS LOST, THE FAILURE MODE IS TO DOWNSHIFT TO 1ST GEAR NO MATTER THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE.
BRAKE PEDAL IS REALLY HARD AFTER START UP, YET THE BRAKES DON'T WORK. BRAKE ASSIST VACUUM PUMP WHINES FEW SEVERAL SECONDS AT START UP. TRUCK ROLLED IN THE DITCH AT MY HOUSE A COUPLE TIMES WHILE I WAS BACKING OUT. LUCKILY, MY DITCH ISN'T VERY DEEP AND NO DAMAGE TO MY PROPERTY OR VEHICLE HAS OCCURRED UP TO THIS POINT. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME SEVERAL TIMES, IT IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR, AND I REALLY HOPE IT DOESN'T CAUSE ME TO COLLIDE WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE OR RUN OVER ANOTHER PERSON IN A PARKING LOT OR SOMEWHERE SIMILAR BEFORE I CAN AFFORD TO PERFORM THE REPAIR. ACCORDING TO MY INTERNET RESEARCH, THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE, AND SHOULD REALLY BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT OR EVEN KILLED.
WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY ONE MORNING I WAS NOT ABLE TO BRAKE BECAUSE MY BRAKE PEDAL FELT LIKE IT HAD SEIZED AND WAS STIFF. I PUSHED EXTREMELY HARD AND IT HELPED THE VEHICLE SLOW DOWN AND THERE WAS A SLIGHT GRINDING SOUND. AFTER THE TRUCK SAT FOR A FEW MINUTES, THE BRAKES BEGAN TO WORK. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT OCCASIONS NOW WHERE WHEN THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IDLE NOT RUNNING FOR APPROXIMATELY 8 OR MORE HOURS, THE BRAKES SEIZE AND DO NOT WORK FOR THE FIRST FEW MINUTES. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS CAUSED BY THE ELECTRONIC VACUUM PUMP FOR THE BRAKES MALFUNCTIONING. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE IF THE BRAKES SHOULD GIVE OUT WHILE I AM ON A MAIN ROAD AND GOING FULL SPEED, LIVES COULD BE IN DANGER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE STEERING COLUMN SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED IN EXCESS OF 80 MPH. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL AND SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. MY 2011 F150, AT JUST UNDER 60,000 MILES, STARTED TO HAVE THE STEERING LOCK UP. IT CAN STILL BE TURNED, BUT ONLY WITH CONSIDERABLE EFFORT. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN MAINLY ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER THE WHEEL HAS NOT BEEN MOVED FOR A FEW SECONDS. THE DEALER SAID THE RACK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED (A $2K JOB), AND IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, WHICH SEEMS UNBELIEVABLE.
BAD VACUUM PUMP CAUSING THE PRESSURE IN THE BRAKES NOT TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE BRAKES ITS REALLY HARD TO STOP IN MOTION.
THE OTHER DAY IN THE MORNING I STARTED MY VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO ACTIVATE THE DEFROST SINCE THERE WAS SOME SLIGHT FROST ON MY WINDOWS AND IT WAS CHILLY. THE DEFROST BUTTON LIGHT WOULD NOT LIGHT UP INDICATING THAT IT WAS ON. IN ADDITION TO THAT I HAVE HEATED MIRROS AND THEY WOULD NOT DEFROST ALONG WITH THE SLIDING REAR WINDOW. I ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE WINDOW IN HOPES THAT THAT WOULD CLEAR UP MY VISIBILITY BEFORE I DROVE AND IT WOULD NOT OPEN. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN MY EYES SINCE I AM UNABLE TO SEE OUT OF MY REAR WINDOW AND SIDE MIRRORS WITH OUT WIPING THEM OFF MYSELF ONLY TO FOG UP MINUTES LATE.
I HAVE A 2011 FORD F-150 FX4 ECOBOOST WITH 44,100 MILES. WHEN THE TRUCK IS FIRST STARTED AFTER SITTING FOR 4 HOURS PLUS, THE BRAKING SYSTEM FAILS UNTIL THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES AT WHICH POINT THE BRAKING SYSTEM COMES BACK. THIS HAPPENS EVERY MORNING WHEN BACKING DOWN A FLAT DRIVEWAY OR BACKING OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE AT WORK (TRUCK HAS BEEN SITTING FOR 8 HOURS). FROM WHAT I AM READING, THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH 2011 FORD F-150 ECOBOOST TRUCKS. I BROUGHT THIS ISSUE UP WITH MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THE KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE BATTERY TO BE DRAINED COMPLETELY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY IN ORDER FOR THE LIGHTS TO STOP ILLUMINATING. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE COMPUTER WAS NOT ABLE TO READ THE GEAR SHIFT WHILE IN THE PARK POSITION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,200.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE DRIFTED SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD WHEN DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO DRIFT AND CRASHED INTO THE FRONT OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" WARNING MESSAGE DISPLAYED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE REAR WINDSHIELD OF THE VEHICLE SHATTERED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR DEFROSTER MAY HAVE SHORTED OUT, CAUSING THE GLASS TO SHATTER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,600.
I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, TOWING A TRAILER IN AN AREA OF HEAVY CONGESTION. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND LOST POWER. THE ENGINE WAS APPARENTLY MISFIRING AND WAS RUNNING VERY ROUGH. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY. WHEN I STOPPED, I PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, BUT LEFT IT RUNNING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF AND THE ENGINE SEEMED TO RUN FINE. BUT EVER SINCE THEN, WHENEVER I ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE SHAKES VIOLENTLY AND WON'T ACCELERATE. THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT! I CHECKED AROUND THE INTERNET AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE, BUT WHEN I CALLED FORD THEY TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE A LOCAL DEALER RUN DIAGNOSTICS. THEY ADMITTED THAT THEY HAD ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN TO THE DEALERS ON A POSSIBLE FIX FOR THE PROBLEM, BUT READING THE OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS NHTSA WEBSITE, THE FIX DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I'VE NEVER SUED ANYONE IN MY LIFE, BUT I SEE THERE IS A CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST FORD FOR THIS PROBLEM. I WAS HOPING THAT IF ENOUGH PEOPLE REPORT THIS PROBLEM THAT FORD WOULD DO THE RIGHT THING- WE SHALL SEE....
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE ELECTRONIC ASSIST FOR THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. WHILE TRAVELING THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY PUTS ITSELF INTO PARK. THE VEHICLE THEN LOCKS UP THE BREAKS AND SKIDS ACROSS THE ROAD. AFTER SKIDDING THE VEHICLE'S THROTTLE DOES NOT WORK AND THE VEHICLE IS INOPERABLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO (2) YEARS. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED (70 MPH) ON A LIMITED ACCESS HIGHWAY FACILITY. IT HAS OCCURRED AT STOP LIGHTS. IN ONE INSTANCE WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT THE VEHICLE CEASED TO OPERATE AND WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. LAST WEEK WAS NOTIFIED BY THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER THAT THEY WERE CONDUCTING A RECALL FOR THE EXACT REASON THAT HAS CAUSED ME PROBLEMS FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS. THE MALFUNCTION HAS CAUSED MECHANICAL DAMAGES TO THE VEHICLE'S SUSPENSION, STEERING, TIRES, AND ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE VIBRATES UNCONTROLLABLY AT ANY SPEED OVER 35 MPH. THERE ARE ALSO RATTLING INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE.

THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTER COOLER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. F-150 ECOBOOST 3.5 L SHIFTING TO DRIVE FROM PARK, BRAKES BECOME STIFF AND WILL NOT STOP VEHICLE AT IDLE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, ENGINE VACUUM RETURNS BRAKE ASSIST. APPEARS TO BE A FAILURE WITH THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE VACUUM PUMP. THIS ONLY OCCURS AT STARTUP.
WHEN STARTING THE TRUCK AND BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE, I HAD NO POWER ASSIST BRAKES. I WAS ABLE TO PRESS HARDER ON THE BRAKES, HOWEVER I DID COME CLOSE TO HITTING MY HOUSE AND THE ABS WAS ACTIVATED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST TIME WAS TAKEN CARE OF UNDER WARRANTY AROUND 26000 MILES. I WAS INFORMED THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE IS OUTSIDE OF BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY COVERAGE, AND IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR SINCE I HAD THIS PART REPLACED LAST, IT WOULD BE AROUND $600 FOR PARTS AND LABOR OUT OF POCKET (FOR SOMETHING THAT HAS FAILED TWICE IN ABOUT 51000 MILES).
NOTICED A STICKING SPOT IN LONG SWEEPING TURNS AT 35+ MPH THAT WAS MANAGEABLE. TURNED INTO CONCERNIG CLICKING SOUNDS WHILE TURNING WHEEL IN ANY DIRECTION. SCARED TO DRIVE ENDED UP AT DEALERSHIP AND DIAGNOSED AS ANOTHER ISSUE WITH EPAS AND BINDING. REPLACED RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY. EXPECTING TO SEE MORE OF THIS AS THESE SYSTEMS ARE NOW BEING TESTED. HOPEFULLY FORD OWNS UP TO DESIGN/RELIABILITY FLAWS ON THIS SAFETY ISSUE.
2011 F-150 FX4. SERVICE ADVANCETRAC WARNING LIGHT DISPLAYS. IT COMES ON WHEN I START UP THE VEHICLE STATIONARY. THE TURN SIGNALS STOP WORKING, TOO. THE NEXT DAY THE LIGHT WILL BE OFF. APPEARS TO BE A COMMON MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE A RECALL JUST LIKE ON THE 2014 F-150S AS IT IS A ISSUES OF SAFETY.

THIS LETTER APPLIES TO ONLY SELECT 2014 F150 MODELS. MY FORD F150 FX4; 2011 HAS AN "IDENTICAL" PROBLEM WITH THE SAME REQUIRED PART NUMBER AND REPAIR NEEDED. ONLY INSTEAD OF BEING A RECALL IT IS CLASSIFIED AS A REPAIR AT A COST OF $1,641.00. I HAVE DOCUMENTATION FROM A DEALER "UFTRING FORD AUTOMALL" STATING THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM. DATED TODAY NOVEMBER 9, 2015. IN FORD'S LETTER I REFERRED TOO, ABOVE. IT WARNS DEALERS THAT THE EPAS GEAR MOTOR POSITION SENSOR MAGNET MAY LEAD TO IMPAIRED STEERING, LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL, WHICH COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH. WHY IS MY VEHICLE NOT COVERED? NOTE: ON THE INTERNET THERE ARE MORE F150 OWNERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. A WARNING POPS UP ON THE DASH MONITOR SCREEN. IN BOLD ORANGE LETTERS. "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC." THIS HAPPENS WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO PARK AT A SLOW SPEED. IT APPEARS RANDOMLY WHEN DRIVING AND THE TURN SIGNAL CANNOT WORK. PLUS THE STEERING WHEEL CAN VIBRATE. IF THE RESET BUTTON IS DEPRESSED THE WARNING ON THE SCREEN DISAPPEARS. BUT YOU HAVE TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART IT TO GET THE TURN SIGNAL TO WORK AGAIN AND THE VIBRATION TO END. THE EFFECTED PART # IS: EL3Z3504BE. THE SAME PART NUMBER AND PROCEDURE TO REPAIR THE 2014'S. THIS CAN HAPPEN TO 2011 TRUCKS AT ANY MILEAGE AND OTHER YEARS. WHILE TAKING MY SON TO SCHOOL, WE WERE STARTLED BY A VERY LOUD NOISE LIKE A GUNSHOT OR GOLF BALL HITTING WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE ROOF OF THE CAR. THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED. WE STOPPED AND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, NO DEBRIS AROUND THE VEHICLE WAS FOUND AND NO HOLES IN THE WINDOW THAT CAUSED OUR BACK REAR WINDOW TO SHATTER. REAR DEFROST WAS IN USE AT THE TIME. MY VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTS INTO 1ST GEAR AT ALL TIMES BUT SPECIFICALLY WHEN TRAVELING ABOUT 70 MPH, IT HAS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST GET RAN INTO ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALMOST SEEMS YOU LOSE CONTROL FOR A BIT, ITS BEEN DOING THIS FOR 2 1/2 YEARS AND IS GETTING WORSE, I SAW FORD HAD A RECALL ON THIS TYPE OF THING BUT THEY SAID IT WASN'T IN MY BATCH OF TRUCKS, I THINK MY BATCH SHOULD ALSO BE INVESTIGATED BECAUSE MY TRUCK IS DOING EXACTLY THAT
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT CAME ON .LOST POWER STEERING ALMOST GOT IN A ACCIDENT. ALMOST HIT A SEMI ..TOOK IN TO SHOP AND THEY SAID,FAULTY GEAR BOX...SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED.YOU ARE RECALLING 2015 ON THIS SAME ISSUE..FORD NEED TO STEP UP AND FIX THIS PROBLEM ON ALL ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING I.AM GOING TO SEEK A LAWYER ON THIS PROBLEM..THEY SAY IT GOING TO COST ME 2500.00.....I DON'T HAVE THIS AMOUNT TO FIT THIS

THE BRAKES ON OUR TRUCK HAVE STARTED TO FAIL WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FIRST STARTED. IT USED TO BE LESS FREQUENT AND ONLY AFTER SITTING OVER NIGHT BUT HAS INCREASED IN OCCURRENCE AND IS NOW OCCURRING EACH TIME YOU START THE VEHICLE. IF YOU PUT THE TRUCK IN DRIVE, THERE IS A MUSHY BRAKE PEDAL AND THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES KICK IN. IN REVERSE, THE PEDAL IS MUSHY AND THERE ARE NO BRAKES. ONCE THE TRUCK HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR A FEW MINUTES AND YOU HAVE PUMPED THE BRAKE, THE BRAKES SEEM TO WORK OKAY. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS REPLACED THE VACUUM BOOSTER BUT THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. BECAUSE THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND MORE FREQUENTLY, IT IS WORRIES ONE THAT IT MAY HAPPEN WHEN DRIVING. WE TRAILER A LOT AND WE LIVE ON A VERY STEEP GRADED ROAD.

MY VEHICLE AS BEEN MISS FIRING SINCE IT HAD 20,000 MILES. I HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN ALMOST 2 ACCIDENTS BECAUSE UPON MERGING ONTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC MY VEHICLE WILL MISFIRE, SLOWDOWN AND WILL NOT SPEED UP FAST ENOUGH TO MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY SAFELY. BECAUSE OF THIS I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT TWICE BY AN 18 WHEELER TRUCK. I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THE MISS FIRING DUE TO AIR COOLING SYSTEM AND IT DESTROYED MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND INSTALLED SOME TYPE OF COOLING SHIELD, AND NOW AT 110,000 MILES IT'S MISS FIRING AGAIN AND RUNNING SLUGGISH. THE COOLING SHIELD THAT WAS INSTALLED DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AT ALL. NOT ONLY IS THE ON GOING MISS FIRING LIFE THREATENING BUT HAS DESTROYED MY CATALYTIC CONVERTERS TWICE WHICH IS CAUSING MY EMISSIONS TO EMIT HARMFUL SMOG INTO THE ENVIRONMENT. ISN'T THEIR EMISSION LAWS AUTOMAKERS MUST ABIDE BY? THE MISS FIRING IS MESSING UP MY EMISSION'S WHICH IS HARMING THE ENVIRONMENT TOO.
WE DROVE THE VEHICLE 6 HOURS WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER ON.... PARKED IT - STARTED IT AGAIN ABOUT 2 HOURS LATER. THE VEHICLE REVVED VERY HIGH, BARELY CHUGGED AS WE DROVE AND THEN THE YELLOW "WRENCH" LIGHT CAME ON - INDICATING TRANSMISSION ISSUES AS WELL AS A "LIMP HOME" MODE. WE WERE UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT THAT POINT AND HAD TO KEEP IT PARKED.... AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH - WE DISCOVERED THAT CONDENSATION HAD GOTTEN INTO SOME SORT OF CONDENSER AND CAUSED THE ECO-BOOST ENGINE TO MISFIRE AND ESSENTIALLY MALFUNCTION.
AS I START MY 2011 FORD F150 3.5 ECOBOOST AFTER IT HAS SAT FOR SOME TIME, SUCH AS OVERNIGHT, I HAVE NO POWER BRAKES FOR 30 TO 45 SECONDS, THE PEDAL BECOMES STIFF AND THE TRUCK KEEPS MOVING EVEN UNDER HEAVY BREAKING. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE I OFTEN PARK ON AN INCLINE OR ON A STEEP GRADE. I HAVE ALSO LOST MY POWER BRAKES WHEN I WAS PULLING A TRAILER AND HAD TO TAKE EVASIVE MANEUVERS AND USE THE TRANSMISSION TO SLOW ME DOWN UNTIL MY BRAKES CAME BACK. AT NO TIME DID I GET A WARNING THAT MY BRAKES WERE FAILING OR ANY KIND OF CODE TO CHECK BRAKES I TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SAID IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP HAD GONE OUT. AND THEY SAID FOR 600.00 THEY WOULD REPLACE THE PUMP. I DECIDED AGAINST IT AND HE TOLD ME IT WOULD BE FINE TO DRIVE IT LIKE THAT. THIS SEEMS SO DANGEROUS AND FORD IS UNCONCERNED ABOUT POSSIBLE BRAKE FAILURE AND AN ACCIDENT. I DON'T LET MY WIFE DRIVE IT ANYMORE BECAUSE I'M NOT SURE SHE WOULD KNOW WHAT TO DO IF IT HAPPENS WHILE SHE IS DRIVING.
WHEN THE TURBO BOOST IS 11PSI MISFIRING BEGINS - NO AFTER MARKET ENGINE PROGRAMMING. IF TURBO DEMAND IS NOT REDUCED, OR IS INCREASED THE ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL BE DISENGAGED - 'LIMP MODE.' ON THE DATE CITED, THIS HAPPENED NO LESS THAT 3 TIMES. LOCAL HUMIDITY WAS 50-70%, AS I RECALL, AND THERE WAS NO RAIN. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS MULTIPLE TIMES WITH LOCAL HUMIDITY NOTED AT 50 %. MY EXPERIENCE IS THAT THE MISFIRING WILL OCCUR ANYTIME TURBO PSI EXCEEDS 11, WHETHER TOWING OR NOT, THOUGH TOWING WILL BE MORE APT TO ENCOUNTER 11PSI. MY TRAILER IS WITHIN ALL TOW LOAD LIMITS FOR MY TRUCK, AXLES AND TONGUE, PER FORD'S RV & TRAILER TOWING GUIDE. MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH THE TRUCK GOING LIMP WAS JUNE OF 2014. I PULLED THE TRUCK TO THE SHOULDER NEXT TO A GUARD RAIL AND CALLED FOR TOWING. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER SAID THAT THERE HAD BEEN A #3 CYLINDER MISFIRE AND A MOMENTARY HEAD OVER-TEMP WAS - WHICH TRIGGERED LIMP MODE. I HAVE REPORTED THE MISFIRING TO MY DEALER, AND WITH FORD'S CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE DEALER SAYS FORD HAS NOTHING LISTED FOR MY TRUCK OR THE ISSUE. I TOLD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND MY DEALER THAT THERE IS PLENTY OF INTERNET TRAFFIC ON THIS ISSUE. ASIDE FROM THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN IMPLEMENTED TO PUT A LARGER AIR SHIELD ON THE INTERCOOLER (CAC), DONE TO MY TRUCK IN 2014 AS A RESULT OF MY EXPERIENCE, THE ISSUE STILL EXISTS. IT WOULD SEEM TO ME THAT FORD HAS NOT ENGINEERED A WATER SEPARATOR TO THEN DRAIN OFF DEVELOPED WATER FROM THE CONDENSATION PROCESS BEFORE IT IS INGESTED INTO THE CYLINDERS. INGESTION OF THE WATER INTO THE CYLINDERS WOULD CAUSE A SPARK MISFIRE, AS WAS SUGGESTED TO ME BY A FORD MECHANIC. MY VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER A FORD ISSUED EXTENDED WARRANTY, AS A RESULT OF A SEPARATE TRANSMISSION ISSUE. GOD FORBID THIS OCCUR WHILE TO SOMEONE TOWING ON A TWO LANE ROAD WITH NO SHOULDER!
I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND FELT THE BRAKE PEDAL GET SOFT LIKE I HAD NO POWER BOOSTER. THE TRUCK WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP. I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE A FEW TIMES BEFORE THE PEDAL STIUFFENED UP A BIT. THIS HAS HAPPENED EVERYDAY SINCE, BUT ONLY IN REVERSE AND ONLY IF I GO IN REVERSE 1ST. THE PEDAL SEEMS A LITTLE SOFTER THAN NORMAL GOING FORWARD BUT NOT NEAR AS BAD AS IN REVERSE. I REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKES ON 7/25/2015 (ROTORS AND PADS- HIGH END REPLACEMENTS) AND THAT DID NOT HELP THE PROBLEM. I JUST REPLACED THE REAR BRAKES ON 8/15/2015 (ROTORS AND PADS- AGAIN BETTER THAN OEM) AND I CAN STILL TELL THERE IS SOMETHING NOT RIGHT WHEN I BACK UP AS A FIRST ACTION. THE PEDAL STILL NEEDS TO BE PUMPED A COUPLE OF TIMES BEFORE IT FEELS BETTER.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL FAILED TO RESPOND WITHOUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
THE ENGINE LOST POWER, THE AIRCONDITIONING SHUT OFF. WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, THE TRUCK SHUDDERED HARD. WHEN THE TRUCK WAS BROUGHT TO A STOP, IT WAS LIKE EVERYTHING RESET. THE ENGINE WOULD ACCELERATE CORRECTLY, THE AIR CONDITIONING CAME BACK ON, AND THERE WAS NO SHUDDER.. THE FORD HOUSE SAID THERE WERE NO CODES STORED TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THEY RECOMMENDED A $1100.00 TUNEUP.
THE BRAKE PEDAL DID NOT DEPRESS AS IT SHOULD. INSTEAD IT WAS IMPOSSIBLY HARD AND HAD NO BRAKING FORCE AT ALL. THE DEALERSHIP INSPECTED THE PROBLEM AND DIAGNOSED A FAILING VACUUM PUMP. THERE IS NO INDICATOR LIGHT TO NOTIFY THE VEHICLE OCCUPANT OF A PROBLEM AND THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD JUST WAITING FOR INJURY/DEATH TO OCCUR.
F-150 WITH ECOBOOST 3.5L GDTI ENGINE. ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP THAT SUPPORTS THE BRAKE BOOSTER STOPPED FUNCTIONING. BRAKE PEDAL FEEL WAS HARD AND VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO STOP AT TIMES. THERE WERE NO SIGNS OR INDICATORS OF THE MALFUNCTION, OTHER THAN THE HARD PEDAL FEEL WHICH CAME ON SLOWLY AND THEREFORE DIFFICULT TO NOTICE UNTIL VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO STOP.
BRAKES FAIL AFTER START UP FOR A MINUTE OF TWO...(VACUMM PUMP FAILURE?)
AT 45,000 MILES, SERVICE ADVANCETRAC LIGHT WOULD COME ON WHEN PERFORMING TIGHT TURNS (EX. PARKING). AFTER THE SERVICE LIGHT APPEARED, TURN SIGNAL WOULDN'T WORK OR WOULD ONLY WORK WHEN HELD DOWN. THIS ISSUE OCCURRED OFF AND ON UNTIL VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE AT 50,700 MILES. ENTIRE STEERING RACK HAD TO BE REPLACED. PART NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, REPLACEMENT COST WAS AROUND $1500.
I WAS MAKING A SERIES OF TURNS IN A PARKING LOT LOOKING FOR A BUILDING ON A COLLEGE CAMPUS AND THEN WITHOUT WARNING I LOST POWER STEERING. A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID THAT THERE IS A BRAKING ASSIST FAULT. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MUSCLE MY TRUCK INTO A PARKING SPACE AND SHUT THE TRUCK OFF. WHEN I TURNED THE TRUCK BACK ON MY POWER STEERING WAS BACK. IT WENT ON FOR TWO DAYS WITHOUT HAPPENING AGAIN, UNTIL TODAY (7-24-15) IT OCCURRED TWICE IN ONE DAY. THE STEERING WHEEL IS FEELING FUNNY ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING LEFT. IT FEELS A LITTLE LOSE WHEN TURNING LEFT. IT FEELS LIKE IT IS SLIPPING WHEN TURNING. AGAIN ONCE THE VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE POWER STEERING RETURNED.
I WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK HOME FROM WORK (NOT EXPERIENCING ANY ISSUES). I BEGAN TO CROSS THE SHIP CHANNEL BRIDGE IN HOUSTON, TX WHEN MY LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER I CRESTED THE TOP OF THE BRIDGE I TESTED THE BRAKES TO MAKE SURE THEY WERE WORKING PROPERLY (AND THEY WERE). I DECIDED TO CONTINUE DRIVING TO THE CLOSEST AUTO PARTS STORE TO SEE WHY THE LIGHT CAME ON AN TO TOP OFF THE FLUID. WHEN I WENT TO EXIT THE FREEWAY (ABOUT 3 MILES FROM WHEN THE LIGHT CAME ON) I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FIREWALL (I HAD LOST ALL BREAKING POWER). I IMMEDIATELY PRESSED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND DOWNSHIFTED THE TRANSMISSION TO HELP ME GET THE TRUCK SLOWED DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT INCIDENT. I THEN HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY DETERMINED THEN CAUSE OF THE BRAKE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A RUPTURE OF THE SEAL IN THE MASTER CYLINDER. I HAD THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED ($700) AND THEY ENSURED ME THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 250,800.
STARTED TRUCK, PUT IN DRIVE WENT 25 FEET APPLIED BRAKES, TRUCK DID NOT WANT TO STOP. PEDDLE WAS HARD AS A ROCK AND WOULD NOT GO DOWN. I LET UP ON THE PEDDLE AND APPLIED AGAIN, THIS TIME IT WORKED A LITTLE. DID IT ONE MORE TIME AND IT WORKED FINE.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ABOUT 55 MPH THE VEHICLE WILL DOWN SHIFT AND THE ODOMETER WILL DIE AND DROP TO ZERO, MOST OF THE INDICATORS WILL HAVE DASHES INSTEAD OF NUMBERS. THE TRUCK WILL AUTOMATICALLY SLOW DOWN CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I THEN HAVE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND REMOVE THE KEY FROM IGNITION AND RESTART THE VEHICLE UP AGAIN TO RESET ALL THE GAUGES. THIS NORMALLY HAPPENS WITHIN THE FIRST 10 MILES OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THIS WOULD ONLY HAPPEN ON A FEW OCCASIONS NOW IT IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED AROUND THE 1ST OF JULY 2016 BUT I WAS TOLD THE SOFTWARE FIX WOULD NOT BE READY UNTIL THE 3 QUARTER OF THE YEAR. FORD NOW WANTS TO CHARGE ME $131.00 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR IT TO BE DIAGNOSED IF THEY ALREADY HAVE A RECALL. I WONDER HOW MANY LIVES WILL BE IN DANGER UNTIL THE 3RD QUARTER UPDATE IS AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT CLIPPED THE REAR OF A JEEP THAT WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, CAUSING THE JEEP TO FLIP OVER TWICE BEFORE LANDING UPRIGHT. THE CONTACT AND THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION AND WERE TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHEN THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE POWERED OFF, THEY WOULD INDEPENDENTLY SWIPE ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD APPROXIMATELY EVERY TEN SECONDS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUSE HAD TO BE REMOVED SO THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD DISENGAGE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
