ATTEMPTED TO MOUNT MY SPARE TIRE AND THE METAL COVERING ON MY LUGNUTS HAD EXPANDED CAUSING ME TO BE UNABLE TO REMOVE THE FLAT TIRE. DONE SOME RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED THIS TO BE A COMMON OCCURANCE ON MY 2013 F150. THI ISSUE W/FORD NEEDS TO BE RESOVELD TO PREVENT ANY FURTHURE DIFFILCULTIES. NEEDS TO BE A SOLID LUGNUT TO REPLACE THOSE THAT HAVE THE METAL SKIN COVERING THE LUGNUT. THANKS
I had to pay $68.71 to replace swollen lug nuts
Goodyear tires 275/65R18 used on an F150 are experiencing near tread separation on the passenger rear side and the beginning of tread rips/tears on drivers rear side in similar locations. Manufacture week and year 1819. These tires have gone through periodic rotation as well. Noticed a shimmy while driving and upon inspection saw the tear/ripe at the tread interface with the sidewall. Tires are nearing the end of life and close to being replaced anyway however given the potential defect potential and safety hazard I am reporting. I personally don’t feel this should be occurring even given the near end of life condition and what appears to be the start of dry rot. Pictures provide 3 photos of the torn passenger side and 3 photos of the rear drivers side showing the beginnings of rips on multiple locations.
I’ve went though 8 wheel bearings in the last 6 months on the drivers side tire alone. I’ve had to replace brake hoses every few weeks and I’ve had to take it to two different dealerships. Also it keep downshift from 6 gear to first with no warning. I’m afraid it’s gonna cause me to wreck.
during routine service, was told lug nuts were very swollen and need replaced, which I did at Team Ford, Las Vegas, NV
237/75/17 tires. While at 60mph on highway, tire exploded in blowout.
Lug nuts are swollen dealership wants 192 to replace with same ones the are defective replaced once already they won't do a tire rotation due to the lug nuts
Swollen Lugnuts. Ford can’t rotate my tires because my wheels have swollen Lugnuts. We’ll it’s a known problem at Ford and apparently has been for a long time .Why can’t one of their technicians takeoff my Lugnuts?I have no clue I wasn’t even provided the information until I read the service report. It was once mentioned to me before at a servicealthough I thought it was a joke. Because they didn’t note that in the service report. Why there’s no recall I have no idea because it is a safety issue!!
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE: OIL/FILTER CHANGE, MULTI POINT INSPECTION, TIRE ROTATION. LUG NUTS WERE SWOLLEN AND CRACKED CREATING POTENTIAL SAFETY PROBLEM. SWELLING DUE TO BIMETALLIC SEPARATION OF THE LUG NUTS. LUG NUTS WERE REPLACED AT A COST OF ABOUT $200.
DRIVER NOTED UNUSUAL LACK OF POSITIVE CONTROL SENSATION DURING NORMAL MANEUVERING WHILE DRIVING. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LOCAL SERVICE CENTER. SUSPENSION, W08HEEL AND TIRE MATERIAL CONDITION APPEARED SATISFACTORY. LUG NUTS WERE SWOLLEN. 24 LUG NUTS HAD TO BE REPLACED. TIRES WERE ROTATED. VEHICLE MANEUVERING APPEARS NORMAL AFTER REPAIR. I TAKE MY FORD F-150 TO ONE DEALERSHIP FOR MAINTENANCE AND NOW THEY SAY THE LUG NUTS NEED REPLACED. IF WERE ON THE ROAD AND HAD A FLAT I COULD NOT REMOVE THE TIRE DUE TO THE DAMAGED NUTS. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECTIVE ITEM THAT FORD CONTINUES TO INSTALL ON ALL VEHICLES.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT GRAPEVINE FORD (LOCATED AT 801 E, TX-114, GRAPEVINE, TX 76051, (817) 756-6642) EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,950. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD( SPEED LIMIT OF 40 MPH) AND MY SPARE TIRE BROKE FREE FROM UNDER THE BED OF THE TRUCK!!
HAD TO HAVE ALL 24 LUG NUTS REPLACED AT 62,000 MILES. I HAD TO REPLACE 12 LUG NUTS BEFORE THIS STARTING IN 2014.. VERY DIFFICULT TO REMOVE. THEY GET DESTROYED REMOVING BUT GET STRIPPED AND ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE WITH SUPPLIED WRENCH. I WORK IN THE WOODS AND CAN'T GET ROAD SERVICE. THESE LUG NUTS ARE A POOR DESIGN.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LUG NUTS AND THE LUG NUTS CHROME COVER FAILED DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES HAD BEEN ROTATED NINETEEN TIMES AT THE SAME DEALER AND THERE WAS NO MENTION OF REPLACING THE LUG NUTS AND THE LUG NUTS CHROME COVER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE LUG NUTS AND LUG NUTS CHROME COVER FAILURE WAS NOT DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THE LUG NUTS AND THE LUG NUTS CHROME COVERS WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,829.

WHEEL LUG NUTS ARE TWO PIECE DESIGN AND SWELL OVER TIME DUE TO CORROSION MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO REMOVE WITH THE FACTORY SUPPLIED LUG WRENCH IN THE EVENT OF ROAD SIDE FLAT TIRE. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAD 45K MILES AND WHEEL COULD NOT BE TAKEN OFF AT ROAD SIDE WITH LUG WRENCH. DESIGN IS PROBLEMATIC AND WE REQUEST THE MANUFACTURE TO RECALL LUG NUTS OR ISSUE A FIELD CAMPAIGN TO REIMBURSE OWNERS WHO HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THEM. TRUCK WAS PARKED WHEN ATTEMPTING REPAIR.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

SECOND SET OF PIRELLI SCORPION ATR'S THAT I'VE HAD WITHIN 10,000 MILES LARGE STRESS CRACKS BEGIN TO FORM STARTING AT THE WHEEL AND MOVING OUTWARDS.
