WHILE SITTING IN MY TRUCK WAITING FOR THE WINDOWS TO FINNISH DEFROSTING, I HEARD A LOUD BANG. I LOOKED BEHIND ME AND SAW THAT THE BACK WINDOW HAD SHATTERED. I IMMEDIATELY GOT OUT TO INVESTIGATE AS IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUN SHOT! I LIVE ON A MILITARY BASE AND VIOLENCE OF THIS KIND IS VERY UNLIKELY. I LOOKED AROUND TO SEE THAT THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND THAT COULD HAVE HIT OR THROWN SOMETHING AT MY TRUCK. I CALLED THE INSURANCE AGENT AND HAD AN APPT SET FOR WINDOW REPLACEMENT. WHEN THE TECH ARRIVED I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE, A WINDOW JUST BREAKING ON ITS OWN. HE SAID THAT HE SEES A FAIR NUMBER OF 2014 F150S WITH THIS PROBLEM, AND EVEN THOUGHT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR SUCH. HE SAID THE HEATING ELEMENT IN THE REAR DEFROST SHORTS OUT AND BREAKS THE WINDOW. WHEN I CALLED FORD THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A PROBLEM. A SIMPLE SEARCH ON THE INTERNET SHOWS A PLETHRA OF SIMULAR COMPLAINTS NOT JUST ON 2014 MODELS, BUT 2015 AND 2016 AS WELL. THIS IS DANGEROUS! I COULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND HAD A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AS A RESULT OF THIS. WORSE EVEN WOULD BE IF MY DAUGHTER WAS SITTING BACK THERE. I AM TIRED OF THE MONEY HUNGRY CORPORATIONS NOT DOING THEIR ETHICAL AND MORAL JOB OF KEEPING THEIR CUSTOMERS SAFE, AND THIS WILL NOT CHANGE UNLESS WE HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE. VEHICLE STARTED TO DOWN SHIFT INTO 1ST AND 2ND GEARS WHILE DRIVING CAUSING SCARY NOISES AND VEHICLE RPM TO JUMP VERY HIGH AND VEHICLE REAR TIRES TO LOCK UP. VEHICLE DOES THIS WHEN IN MOTION ON HIGHWAYS AND CITY STREETS. ANYTIME I ACCELERATE THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTS
SPORADICALLY, OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS (BUT WITH MORE FREQUENCY IN RECENT MONTHS), AT VARIOUS SPEEDS OR WITH NO OTHER COMMON DENOMINATOR, THE TRUCK LOSES POWER TO THE TRANSMISSION, THE SPEEDOMETER DROPS TO ZERO, AND THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON. THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP THE TRUCK FUNCTIONING IS TO PULL OVER, TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, AND RESTART IT. MOST TIMES, THIS WILL FIX THE ISSUE. IT'S OBVIOUSLY BEEN DANGEROUS IN MULTIPLE INSTANCES. WHILE THE TRUCK IS A 6-SPEED, 2014 FORD F-150, IT WAS BUILT IN NOVEMBER OF 2013. REGARDLESS OF THIS, MY VIN IS NOT PART OF RECALL 19V433000 OR 19V075000, DESPITE THE SAME ISSUE AS THE RECALLS. THESE ADDITIONAL MANUFACTURE DATES SHOULD BE INCLUDED. I WAS ALARMED TO SEE THE NUMEROUS CLAIMS WITH THE SAME ISSUE, OUTSIDE OF THE RECALL. FORD NEEDS TO MAKE ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS TO THAT EFFECT. THIS IS OUR 5TH FORD BETWEEN MY WIFE AND I, OF WHICH 4 WERE TRUCKS. CONSIDERING FORD'S NEGLIGENT FLAW HASN'T BEEN CONSIDERED FOR ANY RECALL, DESPITE OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE FROM ITS OWNERS, IT WILL DEFINITELY BE THE LAST FORD PURCHASED BY US, OUR EXTENDED FAMILY, AND ANY OF OUR BUSINESS AND PERSONAL ASSOCIATES TO WHOM WE WILL PASS ALONG THIS CONCERN. IT'S EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING.
A COOLANT LEAK FROM THE UPPER HOSE AT THE CONNECTION THE HOSE IS IN GOOD CONT IT APPEARS TO BE THE PLASTIC O RING THATS CAUSES IT TO LEAK
DRIVING THROUGH PARKING LOT OF WALMART TRAVELING AT SPEED 10 MILES . NO ONE WAS AROUND ME.I WAS ABOUT TO PARK WHENI I HEARD A LOUD BANG. CHECKED AROUND THE TRUCK ON TOP AND SIDES. WHEN I OPENED THE REAR DOORS FOUND THAT RIGHT REAR WAS SHATTERED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. TWO YEARS AGO I PAYED FOR THE REPAIRS DONE BY SAFTELITE AUTO GLASS. AT THAT TIME THE WHOLE REAR GLASS SHATTERED WHEN I,WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT.
INTERMITTENT LOSS OF POWER STEERING FUNCTION
2014 F150 ECOBOOST: WHILE DRIVING ~50MPH, THE VEHICLE ABRUPTLY DOWNSHIFTED TO FIRST GEAR CAUSING MY REAR TIRES TO LOCK UP. I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE SKIP AND REDUCED MY SPEED TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AT THAT TIME, MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IT TO RESET ANY ELECTRONIC CONTROLS AND THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMAL AGAIN. SIMILAR OCCURRENCES HAVE HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY, WHERE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST AFTER COMING TO A REST. OR THE VEHICLE WOULD REMAIN IN 5TH GEAR, IF I WAS ALREADY IN MOTION WHEN IT ACTED UP AND WOULD NOT SHIFT DOWN EVEN IF I CAME TO A REST. FROM MY RESEARCH, THIS APPEARS TO BE SIMILAR TO THE LEAD FRAME RECALL THAT HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR 2011-2013 VEHICLES. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED ON 11/13, BUT APPEARS TO BE OUTSIDE OF THE RECALL TIMEFRAME.
ON 12/11/2020 I TURNED ON MY REAR WINDOW DEFROST AND THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED.
I RECENTLY HAD MY LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING COME ON, DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT AT THE TIME AND ADDED SOME DOT4 FLUID TO MY RESERVOIR. LOOKED THINGS OVER BRIEFLY, THE RESERVOIR SEEMED INTACT, MASTER CYLINDER DIDN'T APPEAR WET, NO SPOTS ON THE GARAGE FLOOR, SO ALL WAS GOOD. AFTER ALL THE TRUCK IS 6+ YEARS OLD, I JUST FIGURED THE TIME HAD JUST COME TO SERVICE THE FLUID AND HAVE THE BRAKES LOOKED AT. TWO WEEKS LATER I HADN'T HAD TIME TO GET IT TO THE SHOP AND THE WARNING APPEARED AGAIN. SO I CHECKED THE RESERVOIR AND SURE ENOUGH IT WAS LOW AGAIN. SO THIS TIME MY INVESTIGATION WAS DEEPER AND I FOUND FLUID ON THE BOTTOM OF THE MASTER CYLINDER WHEN I WIPED MY HAND UNDER IT. THE FOUND MORE BELOW THE MASTER CYLINDER ON THE SHOCK MOUNT AND INNER FENDER WELL. SO I STARTED SHOPPING AND CHECKING PRICES ON PARTS I MIGHT NEED TO FIX THIS AND HAPPENED ON THIS ARTICLE ON TODAY'S GOOGLE, ABOUT A RECALL. SO I WENT TO THE NTSB WEB SITE AND CHECKED MY VIN #. NOPE NO RECALL FOR MY VIN #. WENT BACK TO THE ARTICLE AND REREAD IT. SO IT SEAMS THAT MY 2014 WITH THE MADE IN DEARBORN STICKER STILL IN THE FRONT WINDOW IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL THAT DESCRIBES MY PROBLEM TO THE 'T' ! I CERTAINLY BELIEVE IT DOES, AS DO THE PRO'S I'VE SHOWN. I'M AN A&P FAA NDT INSPECTOR AND DEAL WITH THESE VERY ISSUES IN THE AIRLINE BUSINESS DAILY AND THINK THERE MIGHT BE AN OVERSIGHT TO THE NUMBER OF TRUCKS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I PLAN TO GO AHEAD WITH MY REPAIRS BECAUSE I NEED IT, BUT HOPE YOU WILL EXAMINE YOUR SCOPE OF THIS MORE CLOSELY. THANKS FOR THE SERVICE YOU PROVIDE TO KEEP US SAFE!
THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR FROM NEUTRAL WHEN STOPPED ON OCCASION. THE TRANSMISSION HAS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS STARTED IN 5TH GEAR FROM A STOP AND WILL NOT ALLOW A MANUAL SHIFT TO ANY LOWER GEAR UNTIL IT FINALLY SENSES A SPEED CHANGE. WHEN VEHICLE IS MOVING FROM AN STOP WHEN STUCK IN 5TH GEAR IF MANUALLY SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL AT SPEEDS UP TO 35 MPH AND ABOVE AND THEN SHIFTED TO DRIVE THE TRANSMISSION WILL DROP TO FIRST GEAR CAUSING THE ENGINE TO OVER REV. THIS PROBLEM STARTED OCTOBER 2020 AND WAS NOTED AT GUS JOHNSON FORD SPOKANE VALLEY WA AT A REGULAR SERVICE APPOINTMENT. NO VEHICLE CODE WAS NOTED AT THAT TIME. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 71271 MILES ON IT. THIS PROBLEM IS NOTED ON A RECALL FOR MODEL YEARS 2011 THRU 2013, I DON'T THINK IT IS FIXED YET.
FORD HAS OBVIOUSLY MACHINED MANIFOLDS FOR THE F-150 THAT ARE LESS THAN RELIABLE AND LACK IN QUALITY. THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ARE NOT HARDENED TO ENDURE ENGINE HEAT AND END UP WARPING. THIS CAUSES EXHAUST BOLTS TO BREAK, EXHAUST GASKETS TO BE DESTROYED AND IN TURN CAUSES LOUD NOISES AND POTENTIAL DAMAGE TO THE MOTOR ON THEIR F-150 TRUCKS. FORD OBVIOUSLY KNOWS THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM ON THEIR HANDS AS THEY ARE CURRENTLY DEALING WITH 1,700+ VEHICLES THAT ARE SITTING IN SERVICE SHOPS ACROSS THE COUNTRY FOR THIS VERY REASON. I CALLED FORD TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS CAUSING THE ISSUE AND THEY EXPLAINED THAT THE MATERIALS JUST AREN'T HOLDING UP TO DRIVING CONDITIONS. FORD IS WORKING REDESIGNING THE MANIFOLDS AND RELEASING THEM FOR PURCHASE. HOWEVER, IT YOU HAVE AN ISSUE THIS LARGE AND HAVE ADMITTED THAT IT IS DUE TO YOUR OWN FAILURE TO PRODUCE A PRODUCT/PART THAT WILL ENDURE NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED BY FORD. PERSONALLY, I DON'T DRIVE THIS TRUCK VERY OFTEN. IT IS STORED INSIDE AND TAKEN CARE OF TO THE EXTREME. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED IN A GARAGE FOR A FEW DAYS TO A WEEK (APPROXIMATELY) AND WHEN I STARTED THE TRUCK I HEARD A LOUD "CLICKING" NOISE. I TOOK IT OUT FOR A DRIVE TO SEE IF I COULD LOCATE THE NOISE. AT FIRST IS WAS JUST A FAST CLICKING NOISE ON ACCELERATION. THIS BECAME A LOUD CLICKING MIXED WITH A WHISTLING NOISE. THINKING IT WAS A BEARING IN ONE OF THE TURBOS, I TOOK IT IN FOR INSPECTION AND THEY FOUND THE BROKEN EXHAUST STUD AND DAMAGED EXHAUST GASKET. WHILE WORKING ON FIXING THE ISSUES, THEY FOUND THAT ALL OF THIS RESULTED FROM THE DEFORMED MANIFOLD.
VEHICLE SHIFTED FROM 6TH GEAR TO FIRST WHILE DRIVING WHICHED LOCKED UP THE REAR WHEELS. THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE LEAD FRAME ON THE TRANSMISSION. THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE WITH FORD THAT STOPS THE YEAR BEFORE MY VEHICLE WAS PRODUCED. IT HAS THE SAME TRASMISSION AS THE EARLIER MODEL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING AN UNKNOWN FLUID. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NORTH CENTRAL FORD (1819 N CENTRAL EXPY, RICHARDSON, TX 75080, (972) 584-1338) AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING COOLANT FROM THE LOWER DEGAS HOSE AND THE CONNECTOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A COMMON ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
WHEN I TURNED ON THE REAR DEFROST THE BACK WINDOW OF THE TRUCK SHATTERED. ON 11-24-20, I WARMED UP MY 2014 FORD F150 WITH THE REMOTE START FEATURE. WHEN I PUT THE KEY IN, I TURNED ON THE REAR DEFROSTER WHILE THE TRUCK WAS STILL IN PARK. THE BACK WINDOW DRIVER SIDE PANE SHATTERED. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD 8 TIMES, BUT THE RESPONSE IS CONTINUALLY THE SAME, "IT IS THE OWNER'S RESPONSIBILITY, NOT FORD." FORD HAS A SERIOUS PRODUCT FAILURE THAT HAS BEEN ALLOWED TO PERSIST FOR TOO LONG.
#27 FUSE. 20AMP MICRO FUSE. MELTED AND FAILED. ENGINE CRANKS BUT WILL NOT TURN OVER. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AMONG F150 OWNERS. THIS COULD BE A POTENTIAL SAFETY AND FIRE HAZARD AS THE FUSE IS BEING OVERHEATED AND FAILS. SCORCH MARKS AND MELTING ARE NOTED ON THE FUSE. VEHICLE WAS PARKED. FIRE COULD RESULT.
Exhaust manifolds are warping causing a severe exhaust leak at around 45K miles. Vehicle sounds like a bird chirping or wild animal screaming when accelerating.This repair is quite costly and requires several parts and labor hours. No vehicle with this low miles should require such a costly repair so early. Ford needs to make it right with all owners of these vehicle's by recalling and fixing the issue with the engine exhaust manifolds warping. I was quoted $1,700 per manifold x2 to get the leaks fixed and my truck safely running down the road again without making embarrassing noises. Anyone who has had to make this repair should be fully reimbursed for the parts and labor by Ford. When they make the repair they replace the failed parts with the exact same parts the truck come with so until they are forced to come up with a solution all us unfortunate 3.5L ecoboost owners will be replacing these costly exhaust manifolds. ON 11/15/2020 THE BRAKE PEDAL IN MY 2014 FORD F150 WITH ECOBOOST WENT TO THE FLOOR WHILE WAITING AT A STOP LIGHT. THE BRAKE PEDAL COULD BE PUMPED UP, HOWEVER WOULD BLEED OFF TO THE FLOOR WITH CONSTANT MODERATE PRESSURE. WITH NO EXTERNAL LEAKS, THIS INDICATES A FAILED MASTER CYLINDER. I SEE THERE ARE TWO RECALLS ON THE 2014 FORD F150 WITH ECOBOOST THAT COVER ALL OF THE 2014 MODEL EXCEPT FOR TRUCKS BUILT IN JUNE AND JULY 2014. MASTER CYLINDER FAILURES AND LEAKS ARE COMMON IN 2014 F150 WITH ECOBOOST AND THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE. LUCKILY ALTHOUGH I HAD 3 OTHER PASSENGERS AND TOWING A UTILITY TRAILER NO ONE WAS INJURED. CURRENTLY MY TRUCK IS IN THE SMALL GAP BETWEEN TWO RECALLS. THIS IS UNSATISFACTORY AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD BE HELD TO ACCOUNT AND PROVIDE VEHICLES WITH BASIC SAFETY EQUIPMENT IN PROPER OPERATING ORDER.
WARNING LIGHT APPEARS "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC". ONCE. THEN WEEKS LATER LOST POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. AS A STRONG MAN HAD TO PRACTICALLY USE ALL MY BODY WEIGHT TO AVOID COLLISION WHILE ALMOST STANDING. GOT IT TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. DIAGNOSIS WAS DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR. FORD HAD RECALL ON THIS SAME ISSUE BY RECALL #14S09, BUT MY TRUCK WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN AWFUL ACCIDENT. OBVIOUSLY THE EPAS STEERING GEAR IS DEFECTIVE AND VEHICLES WITH IT NEED TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE HAS A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THE COST WAS $2583 FOR A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 38897 MILES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE!!
2014 F150 LOST ABILITY TO SHIFT LOST SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER SAME ISSUES AS THE RECALLED LEAD FRAME FROM 2009 TO 2013 TRUCK WON'T SHIFT
DURING DRIVING THE STEERING RANDOMLY LOCKED UP. STEERING WAS NOT JUST STIFF (AS WOULD HAPPEN WITH THE CONVENTIONAL LOSS OF POWER STEERING); THE STEERING FELT LOCKED AS IF THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF AND THE WHEEL TURNED TO LOCK IN SOME VEHICLES. HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING THROUGH THE CITY AND TURNING CORNERS THE FIRST TWO TIMES, THIRD TIME WAS WHILE TRYING TO PARALLEL PARK. LOCKED UP WHILE TURNING BOTH TO THE LEFT AND TO THE RIGHT. THESE THREE OCCASIONS HAPPENED DURING A 10 MINUTE PERIOD. UNLOCKED SIMILARLY RANDOMLY (ATTEMPTED CRANKING HARDER ON THE WHEEL, JIGGLING, POWER CYCLING THE VEHICLE; NO LINK TO ANY OF THESE). A FEW WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS TRIP, THE STEERING BECAME SUDDENLY NOTCHY (FOUND HARD SPOTS IN ROTATION OF WHEEL THAT I POPPED OVER WITH MORE FORCE) WHILE DRIVING ~STRAIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY, RETURNED TO NORMAL WHEN DRIVING HOME. THEN OVER THE FOLLOWING WEEKS THE WHEEL STOPPED RETURNING TO CENTER AND BECAME STIFF ALL THE TIME AND NOTCHY FREQUENTLY. ATTEMPTED REPLACING INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT, THINKING U-JOINTS WERE BINDING, BUT DID NOT FIX NOTCHY, STIFF STEERING. DIAGNOSIS AT MECHANIC REVEALED ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WAS NONRESPONSIVE TO ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION AND NOT RESPONDING TO COMMANDS WHEN COMMUNICATION WAS ESTABLISHED. REPLACEMENT OF POWER STEERING UNIT FIXED PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON DROPPING HIS CHILD OFF AT SCHOOL, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD, ABNORMAL POPPING SOUND. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE GLASS HAD SHATTERED INTO SEVERAL PIECES. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEATING SYSTEM IN THE REAR DEFROSTER OVERHEATED WHICH CAUSED THE GLASS TO SHATTER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MEL HAMBELTON FORD (11771 W KELLOGG DR, WICHITA, KS 67209) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR OF THE GLASS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 119,000.
I STARTED MY TRUCK WITH AUTOMATIC START SO THAT IT COULD WARM UP. WHEN I WAS READY TO LEAVE I WENT OUTSIDE, GOT INTO TRUCK AND PUT THE KEYS IN. I WAS ABOUT TO BACK UP WHEN I NOTICED MY BACK WINDOW HAD FOG ON IT SO I TRIED TO TURN ON THE REAR DEFOGGER. THE LIGHT WOULD NOT COME ON SAYING THAT IT WAS ON SO I PUSHED THE BUTTON A FEW MORE TIMES. THE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. I WAS ABOUT TO BACK MY TRUCK OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEAR A LOUD BANG AND MY SON, WHO WAS IN THE BACK SEAT FACING FORWARD WITH HIS SEATBELT ON, SAID THE BACK WINDOW IS CRACKING. IT WAS THE REAR WINDOW ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. I GOT OUT TO LOOK AND NOTHING HAD HIT THE BACK WINDOW, IT JUST BROKE ON ITS OWN. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS WAS A FAILURE TO THE REAR DEFOGGER OR THE WINDOW
TRAVELING DOWN A TWO-LANE ROAD ABOUT 50 MPH WHEN THE TRUCK'S ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER AND AN ERROR MESSAGE POPPED UP ON THE SCREEN. MANAGED TO GET 1/4 MILE BACK HOME. FOUND OUT FROM MY OBD DIAGNOSTICS THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS STUCK. ONLY OPTION WAS TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY TO ENSURE IT DIDN'T OCCUR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD OR WORSE, A MAJOR INTERSECTION. NO PROBLEMS SINCE REPLACEMENT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V316000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.

ABOUT 3 OR 4 WEEKS AGO THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE BRAKE HOSE BURST AND I LOST ALL THE BRAKE FLUID. NOW ON 10/17/2020 THE PASSENGER FRONT SIDE BRAKE HOSE BURST. THEY BOTH BURST IN THE SAME AREA ARE. THIS IS THE HOSE THAT CONNECTS THE MAIN BRAKE LINE TO THE CALIPER. WHEN IT WAS NOTICED THE TRUCK WAS IN PARKING LOT SPACE AND GETTING READY TO DRIVE OFF. BOTH TIME IT HAPPENED IN A WALMART PARKING LOT. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. I EVEN CALLED MY REGULAR MECHANIC AND HE STATED IT WAS VERY ODD FOR THIS TO HAPPEN.

A FUSE RELAY KIT WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THE 20 AMP FUSE HOWEVER, THE FUSE FAILED TO FIT CORRECTLY. SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS AT 30-40 MPH BUT RECENTLY IT HAS OCCURRED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF OVER 70. I HAVE CALLED FORD CONSUMER HELP TO NO AVAIL AND GONE TO MY LOCAL DEALER. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 2011 THROUGH 2013 MODELS FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM IT NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED INTO THE 2014 MODELS AS WELL. TO ME THIS FITS THE RECALL FOR THE BRAKES/CYLINDER, BUT MY VEHICLE DOES NOT FALL WITHIN THE CORRECT DATE OF MANUFACTORING. IT IS A 2014 FORD F-150 WITH THE 3.5 ECOBOOST IT HAS BARELY 80K MILES. I HAVE NEVER HAD A BRAKE ISSUE ON A VEHICLE BEFORE ESPECIALLY ONE UNDER 100K. I THINK THEY NEED TO EXPAND THE RECALL. I WOULD BE WILLING TO OFFER UP MY BROKEN PARTS FOR THEM TO LOOK AT. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK COMING FROM THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER UNTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 143,000.
NHTSA RECALL 16V-345 8/11/20, I ENCOUNTERED THE DEFECT DESCRIBED IN THE ABOVE SRREPORT. THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID WITH THE RESULTING VISUAL AND AUDIBLE ALARMS. I VERIFIED AT THAT TIME THAT THE RESERVOIR IN THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS EMPTY AND THAT THE BRAKE FLUID HAD LEAKED FROM THE RESERVOIR. ADDITIONAL BRAKE FLUID WAS ADDED AND THE BRAKES WERE CYCLED TO ATTEMPT TO GET BRAKING PERFORMANCE BACK. 3 CUPS OF FLUID LEAKED FROM THE RESERVOIR WITH NO VISIBLE LIQUID ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE RESERVOIR OR ANYWHERE ELSE UNDER THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS LEAKAGE INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. NHTSA 16V-345 STATES: 'OWNERS WILL BE INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THEIR VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALER TO HAVE THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED. ADDITIONALLY, THE BRAKE BOOSTER WILL BE REPLACED IF THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER IS LEAKING.' SR 16S24 STATES AS TO REMEDY: 'OWNERS WILL BE INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THEIR VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALER TO HAVE THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED ADDITIONALLY THE BRAKE BOOSTER WILL BE REPLACED IF THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER IS LEAKING.' TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALER (CLASSIC FORD OF COLUMBIA). AFTER THE DEALER COMPLETING THEIR EVALUATION, I WAS ADVISED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT, THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS STATED TO BE AT MY EXPENSE AND NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. I POINTED OUT TO THE DEALER THAT I WANTED THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE BRAKE BOOSTER REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL. UPON DELIVERY I INQUIRED AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS NOT REPLACED BECAUSE IT DID NOT NEED TO BE. I HAD BEEN ADVISED THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHEN THEY WERE WANTING ME TO PAY FOR IT. COMPLAINT: THE RECALL INDICATES THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WILL BE REPLACED IF THE MASTER CYLINDER IS LEAKING. IT WAS. THE ACTION IS NOT DISCRETIONARY. FORD HAS FAILED TO PERFORM WHAT WAS REQUIRED BY THE RECALL PROGRAM.
