This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. To compare this model year with others, use the year navigation in the sidebar or return to the model overview page.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2017 F-150 pickup trucks equipped with 3.5L Ecoboost engines. The brake master cylinder may leak brake fluid into the brake booster.
Remedy Status
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake master cylinder and inspect the brake booster, replacing it as necessary, free of charge. Ford issued owners an interim notification on June 30, 2020. The recall began on October 28, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S31.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2014 Ford F-150 trucks manufactured May 26, 2014 to June 19, 2014, and equipped with Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS). The affected vehicles may have an incorrectly installed EPAS gear motor position sensor magnet that can lead to a total loss of steering control while driving.
Remedy Status
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the EPAS steering gear, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Note: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until they have been remedied. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S09.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2014 Ford F-150 and Flex vehicles manufactured March 1, 2014, to May 31, 2014. The affected vehicles were manufactured with a reduced clearance between the seat frame and the seat track assembly. This can cause the Occupant Classification System (OCS) to inaccurately register passenger weight and improperly suppress the passenger front airbag when the passenger seat is occupied by an adult passenger. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
Remedy Status
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will widen the gap between the seat frame and seat track assembly and recalibrate the seat OCS, free of charge. The recall began November 25, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 14C10.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2014 F-150 vehicles manufactured March 1, 2014, to March 13, 2014. The affected vehicles may have a brake pedal position switch that is improperly adjusted. As a result, the brake lights may illuminate with a delay or not at all. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Remedy Status
Ford has notified owners, and dealers will adjust the brake pedal position switch, free of charge. The recall began on November 24, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 14C09. Note: Until the vehicle has been remedied, owners are advised not to use their cruise control system.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014 Ford F-150 and E-350, 2014-2015 Ford Escape, and 2015 Lincoln MKC vehicles. Improperly manufactured bolts may have been used to install certain seats, seatbacks, seatbelt buckles, or seatbelt anchors on these vehicles.
Remedy Status
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected bolts, free of charge. Interim notices informing owners of the safety risk were mailed September 8, 2017. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available in the fourth quarter of 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17S17.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 F-150 vehicles manufactured August 1, 2013, to August 31, 2014 equipped with 3.5L engines. The master cylinder rear cup seal may roll, resulting in brake fluid leakage from the primary reservoir into the brake booster.
Remedy Status
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake master cylinder and, if necessary, the brake booster, free of charge. The recall began on October 28, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16S24.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014 F-150 vehicles. A loss of signal between the transmission output shaft speed sensor and the powertrain control module can cause the transmission to unexpectedly downshift into first gear, regardless of vehicle speed.
Remedy Status
Dealers will update the powertrain control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 1, 2024. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S37.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle unexpectedly downshifted into first gear. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the transmission wiring had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure might be related to a previous recall associated with the vehicle. The contact indicated that under the recall, only a software update was performed, and the wiring was not replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact expressed concerns that the vehicle was unsafe to drive due to the risk of sudden unexpected downshifting. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.
It was Tuesday 04/14 I had just left a store. Drove to the corner stop sign and applied the breaks which have always been just fine, easy to stop and slow. Until thst day I eased on the breaks and all of a sudden the peddle went to the floor. I came home and called my mechanic shop. They told me to bring it in. When I did they told me the master cylinder had gone out and was leaking all into the booster. They felt it was unsafe for me to drive it. They gave me a loaner vehicle. Upon returning to my home that's when I saw all the break fluid running down my driveway where I had parked when I got home from the store the day prior. Which I hadn't noticed before. So, now I'm without my vehicle because I simply can't afford a $900 repair bill. I've looked it up and on your website it shows in 2025 there was a recall on the 2014 Ford F-150 that named the master cylinder as a problem. It also stated that on Google. Please help.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle unexpectedly went into LIMP Mode several times, with the powertrain warning light illuminated. The vehicle was restarted after each failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times; however, it was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure started after the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train); and the software update was performed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 156,484.
Received a recall statement for the brake system master cylinder. Called Bowen Scarff Ford Dealership and made an appointment to have it repaired, and then they called and cancelled the appointment stating the part was on backorder with an indefinite timeline for availability. I asked them to open a repair order today 4/3/26 so it’s documented I tried and they told me “you are on the list”. The dealership also stated if the vehicle stated having brake issues, that we could bring it in for service but that we would be charged. No service number for the created and unresolved ticket was provided to me from the dealership. I then called Ford Customer Servive about the recall timeline, which again had an indefinite date and no other information to provide. I was told the vehicle was safe to drive, and to just wait. I expressed concern that my [XXX] son drives this vehicle, and the Ford representative told me to stop driving the vehicle if we experience: -An audible chime -A message center alert -The red brake warning indicator lights up I was provided a case number from Ford on 4/3/24 #CXH07558665 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Consistent with NHTSA Recall bulletin 24V444000, my truck suddenly downshifts on its own from 5th or 6th gear to 1st or 2nd gear, even at highway speeds. When that happens, the RPMs increase dramatically and the truck slows down. I have almost wrecked while driving in snow when this happens, because the rear wheels slide out of control when the transmission drops to 1st or 2nd gear. So, why isn't my truck covered by this recall bulletin? This has been occurring with increasing frequency for over three months. Today (3-18-26) it occurred at least eight (8) times - and it's snowing.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that on several occasions, while refueling the vehicle, the fuel gauge fluctuated quickly. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle needed to be refueled frequently because the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that fuel was leaking from the vehicle. The vehicle was diagnosed with fuel tank failure. The contact was informed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. While the vehicle was parked and turned off, fuel was leaking from the vehicle. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
I am aware this year f150 had issues with steering recall. My model did not come up as recall. However, I twice have had steering issues. On 04/26/24 I had the steering assembly repaired, car went into limp mode while driving. It cost $1,505.45 for the parts and it had to be reprogrammed at dealership $225.00. Total was $2,359.14. Now this week 03/10/2026 the steering is hanging up again and it is in shop. It seems odd my truck was not part of the recall. As longtime Ford buyer and relative of many Ford employees around Detroit, this is disturbing. Especially with STEERING !!!!! I will try to attach prior receipt.
An intermittent failure of the output shaft speed (OSS) sensor in the transmission. It downshifted while traveling over 45 MPH> The dashboard lights went away, and the transmission will only stay in first gear. Restarting the vehicle (sometimes multiple times), addresses the issue temporarily. safety recall 24S37 addresses the issue but my vehicle is not part of this recall.
Two separate times, driving at highway speed, the truck shifted into first gear and I had to pull over. A wrench symbol also popped up where the speed is usually displayed.
My truck’s brakes failed unexpectedly. I know there’s been a recall on similar year and engine models for brake issues. Even though my VIN isn’t showing an open recall, I’d like this inspected because the failure feels identical to the recall problem.
There have been sudden downshifts occurring at any speed while driving. For example, downshifting from 6th gear to 1st gear while on the interstate driving around 70 mph. Or driving 40 mph on a public, decently popular road and having the downshift occur suddenly. Occurred 4 times in one day and almost was in a crash each time it happened. Upon researching this issue, there is a Ford recall “24S37” for this exact issue and it covers 2014 F-150’s from the Kansas City Plant during the dates of July 26, 2013 through December 23, 2014. But yet my specific vehicle isn’t recalled even though it’s from the Kansas City Plant and departed from that plant on November 18, 2014. Ford was called and notified of this incident but it’s been a week now with no update or response from them about getting my vehicle the necessary repairs needed so I can safely drive again. There is no sense of urgency any time I have called their Customer Service department even though I remind them every time I am currently without a car since mine is dangerous and unsafe to drive. This vehicle has been inspected by a Ford dealership many times for other repairs and this issue was never addressed or notated. There were no warning lamps or messages displayed prior to these incidents, the downshifts just occurred randomly with no prompting.
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while using a scanner to check for diagnostic codes, the contact discovered a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was an independent dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 139,000. The contact indicated that the scanner indicated that the mileage was 239,000. A VIN Clarity Report was purchased, which also indicated that the mileage was 239,000.
My 2014 F-150 with the 5.0 is currently at the ford dealership getting the output speed sensor replaced in the transmission. This is already a recall item on the vehicle, however it is not showing up as a recall fix. This will send your truck into “limp mode” causing you to have to pull over in unsafe spots on the road in order to shut the vehicle off. And back on to get the truck to drive correctly. I am now responsible for paying for this replacement, when it’s clearly a manufactured error
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle lost power, and the power train warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the odometer was inoperable, and the gear shift indicator indicated that the transmission was in 3rd gear. The air bags and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and inspected, but no failures were found. The vehicle was turned off for 20 minutes and restarted, and there were no issues found with the vehicle. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH, the transmission downshifted and became stuck in 3rd gear. The powertrain, air bags, and other unknown warning lights became illuminated again, and the odometer failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed, and DTC: P0722 was retrieved. There are metal shavings in the transmission drain filler plug, and the contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train) and Manufacturer Recall: 24S37. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 142,300.
When driving, the truck will down shift or won’t to shift up at all. After turning the vehicle off, it seems to resolve itself after you turn it back on. Unless the orange light to indicate gear won’t appear. Then vehicle won’t start when the gear can’t be indicated, leaving myself or family members stranded. It refuses to start in neutral as well. I took the vehicle to Car x. I have no check engine nor do I have any transmission codes. I was told it may be a pcm to transmission problem and to check for recalls. My vehicle doesn’t show on the recall list but is showing symptoms of a recall listed.
This car is loosing control due to the sudden shifting of the gears. The car suddenly goes into first gear, causing the car to go into a safety mode
I had the factory recall done at a local dealership. The ensured me the programming was completed to solve the down shifting of gears while driving. It’s been a couple years since the reprogramming and I still have problems with the truck downshifting at different speeds. It also indicates the wrench on the screen and makes all the gauges including the screen, stop working. During acceleration, if you are merging and need extra speed, the truck stops accelerating and slows down. The only way to reset the wrench on the screen is to stop the vehicle immediately and shut it off until the mileage indicator shows the mileage the vehicle has. Several posts online indicate the same issues for those who own the F150. Driving on the freeway at freeway speeds the truck shifted into first gear while traveling at 75 mph. The tires skidded and the truck jerked hard when it happened. It startled myself and my kids who were in the truck.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 75 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted, and the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (POWER TRAIN) as possibly related to the failure. The vehicle was driven to a local dealer for a recall repair. The vehicle was repaired by the dealer. The contact stated that the vehicle was driven back to the residence, but the failure worsened. The vehicle was driven back to the dealer. The dealer denied the repair and stated that there were no issues with the vehicle. The contact stated that the additional issues were associated with the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 264,711.
