THE TAILGATE ON MY 2018 FORD F-150 HAS THE AUTOMATIC OPEN OPTION FROM THE KEY FOB. I FIRST EXPERIENCED THE TAILGATE HAD OPENED ON ITS OWN WHEN I WENT OUTSIDE TO GO TO WORK AND FOUND TAILGATE WAS OPEN. I DIDN'T THINK TO MUCH ABOUT IT AT THE TIME. THEN WHILE I WAS PULLING A TRAILER I WENT OVER A SPEED BUMP AND HEARD A WHAT SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING HAD FALLEN OVER INSIDE TRAILER. STOPPED TO INVESTIGATE AND FOUND TAILGATE HAD OPENED AND FELL ON THE TRAILER JACK HANDLE ON THE HITCH. THIS BROKE THE TAILGATE HANDLE HOUSING THE BUTTON FOR OPENING TAILGATE, THE LIGHT AND BACKUP CAMERA. I HAD NO IDEA HOW THIS COULD'VE HAPPEN. NO WAY COULD THE KEY FOB COULD HAVE ACTIVATED THE AUTO RELEASE AS IT WAS ON THE CONSUL WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I LOOKED ON THE INTERNET FOR ANY POSSIBLE CAUSES AND FOUND MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AND TURNING LEFT, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE SHIFT TO PARK WARNING DISPLAYED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WAS INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BACK-UP CAMERA FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MACE FORD LOCATED AT (4501 US-41, TERRE HAUTE, IN 47802) TWICE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE FOR THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT OIL CONSUMPTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,000.*DT*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT WAS CRACKED FROM THE INSIDE. AS A RESULT, ONLY ONE HEADLIGHT WAS FUNCTIONAL. THE CONTACT HAD DIFFICULTY DRIVING AT NIGHT BECAUSE ONE LIGHT WAS DIMMER THAN THE OTHER. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO ANCIRA FORD (501 10TH ST, FLORESVILLE, TX 78114, (830) 216-4040) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THEY DID NOT KNOW HOW TO REPAIR THE INTERNAL CRACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A STRESS MARK, AND THAT THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,900.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE TAILGATE OPENED WITHOUT WARNING AND DAMAGED THE TRIM AND PAINT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PRINCE FREDERICK FORD (10 SOLOMONS ISLAND RD N, PRINCE FREDERICK, MD 20678, (410) 535-0900, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
THE KEY IN THE IGNITION ALARM WAS CONSTATNTLY SOUNDING AFTER THE TRUCK WAS SHUT OFF, AFTER THE KEY WAS REMOVED. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS A SHORT IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THIS IS A NEW 2018 TRUCK WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON WITH FORD?
WHILE DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 10, MY TRANSMISSION ABRUPTLY DOWNSHIFTED TO 1 AT ~55 MPH!! THIS WAS THE WORST OF SEVERAL INSTANCES OF THE TRANSMISSION EITHER FAILING TO SHIFT PROPERLY OR JERKING THE VEHICLE WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. I'VE ALSO HAD THE VEHICLE STUCK IN 2ND GEAR WHILE TRYING TO ENTER THE FREEWAY. THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOW NO CONCERN AS THEY RELY ON SERVICE CODES INSTEAD OF ROAD TESTS AND CUSTOMER INPUT. I HOPE I'M ABLE TO GET ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM A MANUFACTURER I CAN TRUST. IT'S UNFORTUNATE BECAUSE I HAVE OWNED FORD F-150S FOR THE PAST 6 YEARS AND DRIVEN THEM SINCE HIGH SCHOOL. THIS NEW 10-SPEED TRANSMISSION SHOULD'VE NEVER BEEN RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC. I SEE OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE SO HOPEFULLY A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IS SOON TO FOLLOW!
Vehicles 2018. To. 2020 have excessive oil consumption can cause engine failure and emissions problems due to high oil being burned .manufacture fail to fix the engine problem a technical service bulletin has been issued to bypass the real problem with the engine and emissions problem
At 9,000 miles the oil ran dry in the engine. No warning lights came on. The vehicle had routine oil change at 5,000 miles. I was stranded on the road with no transportation. After several oil consumption test Ford agreed to replace the motor with a long block. After 1,000 miles on the second motor the oils was over 2 quarts low on oil. Ford remedy was a longer dipstick with wider oil range. After two oil consumption tests Ford change the motor again with short block. After 20 miles the one of the heads went bad. Ford replaced one head. After 75 miles the vehicle stopped running and is in the shop again. The vehicle has been in the shop for over 6 weeks at a time. I have requested a buy back twice.

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the cam phasers were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the engine made abnormal sputtering sounds while driving and while the vehicle was parked. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer, Campus Ford (2401 W Main St, Waynesboro, VA 22980) where it was diagnosed and determined that the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.
5.0 V-8. MY TRUCK CONSUMES OVER 2 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 2500 MILES. FORD SAYS THIS IS NORMAL. MY TRUCK'S FUEL ECONOMY IN ANY DRIVING CONDITIONS IS NEVER BETTER THAN 11.9 MPG'S WHICH SHOULD BE AND WAS MUCH BETTER THAN THIS WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT. MY ENGINE KNOCKS. MY ENGINES WHINES AND WHISTLES. MY ENGINE IS DOWN ON POWER NOTICEABLY ON THE INTERSTATE WHICH MAKES DRIVING THE TRUCK DANGEROUS. ALL OF THIS FORD SAYS IS NORMAL. NONE OF THIS IS NORMAL UNLESS IT WAS A 1976 PINTO. THIS TRUCK SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE ROAD PERMANENTLY
I HAVE REPORTED MY BRAKE PEDAL THAT GOES TO THE FLOOR DIRECTLY TO FORD'S F-150 ENGINEER. I WAS TOLD MY TRUCK'S BRAKES ARE NORMAL. TODAY, IN A BUSINESS PARKING LOT MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I LOST THE ABILITY TO STOP AND RAN INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF MY PARKING SPOT. I HAD MY KIDS AND IN-LAWS IN THE TRUCK WITH ME. MY BRAKES ARE NOT CLOSE TO BEING NORMAL. FORD HAS KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH RECENT MODEL F-150 BRAKES. FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO TRY FIX MY BRAKES. HAVING RANDOM ACCIDENTS WITH MY FAMILY IN THE TRUCK IS UNACCEPTABLE. THIS TRUCK SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE ROAD AT FORD'S EXPENSE
Engine burns oil even though a oil consumption test was done and all updates performed. Engine still make chatter noise on acceleration occasionally.
THE TRUCK TAIL GATE FELL OUT WHILE OPENING IT
Transmission skipping, banging gears and sometimes separating tires from payment. Reported to Ford the following times: 5/16/2019 at 10,300mi 10/17/2019 at 15,130mi 3/18/2020 at 20,378mi 10/09/20 at 25,596mi 11/22/2021 at 40,330mi Ford has claimed that the banging and hard shifting upward and downward is "normal". They will only conduct a factory reset to the computer to "learn driving patterns" again. This works to resolve the issue, but is short lived.
This vehicle has and co tones to have the back up display freezing while in reverse - it has been unsuccessfully addressed at dealerships on multiple occasions. The current recall on this issue needs to be added to more model years, this is not a new problem with ford
ABOUT 8 MO. OLD 11,000 MI 2.7 L ECOBOOST ENGINE SMOKES ON COLD START UP OIL IS GETTING SOMEPLACE IT SHOULD NOT & COULD CAUSE PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURE IN TRAFFIC. IT SEEMS HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM USUALLY STARTING AT ABOUT 6-7 MONTHS OLD AND 10,000 MILES OR LESS. VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AT START UP SOMETIME A SMALL PUFF ABOUT WHEELBARROW SIZE OFTEN A LARGE AMOUNT THAT ENVELOPES THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. FORD F-150
THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE LATCH ON THE TAILGATE. THE TAILGATE OPENS RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. THIS CAN OCCUR WHEN THE TAILGATE IS UNLOCKED AND ALSO WHEN IT IS LOCKED. IT IS MORE LIKELY TO OCCUR WHEN GOING OVER A BUMP. I USE MY VEHICLE FOR WORK PURPOSED AND SO I HAUL EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH BILL PIERRE FORD IN SEATTLE WA ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT THAT FORD HAS NOT PROVIDED A FIX AND SO THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIX IT. THE DANGER AND LIABILITY IS SIGNIFICANT AND WILL CAUSE ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS IF IT IS NOT ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. I AM PUTTING A DATE BELOW, BUT PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS HAS OCCURRED REPEATEDLY. WHILE I AM CURRENTLY USING A BUNGEE CORDS TO MAKE SURE THAT NOTHING FALLS OUT (THE CORD PREVENTS THE GATE FROM FALLING OPEN) WHEN THE TAILGATE RANDOMLY RELEASES, IT WOULD CERTAINLY PUT THE LIVES OF OTHERS AT RISK ON DAILY BASIS.
PARKED IN A GAS STATION PARKING SPOT. I PUT THE TRUCK INTO PARK AND LEFT THE VEHICLE ON FOR THE FAMILY. I TOOK ONE OF MY CHILDREN INTO THE STORE. MY WIFE OPENS HER PASSENGER DOOR AND STEPPED OUT TO PICK UP A LITTLE MESS. WHILE IN PARK THE TRUCK MOVED FORWARD A BIT AND STARTED TO ROLL BACK. SOMEHOW THE TRUCK WAS IN PARK OR SHOWED IT WAS IN PARK (IT DIDNT MOVE WHEN I LET OFF THE BRAKE PRIOR TO GETTING OUT OR AS I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK). AFTER STRUGGLING FROM OUTSIDE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THE TRUCK ROLLING BACK ABOUT 50 FEET, MY WIFE MANAGED TO GET THE SHIFTER INTO PARK (AGAIN). THE PASSENGER DOOR HIT A CONCRETE POST AND OPENED THE DOOR BEYOND WHAT THE HINGES ALLOW
WHINING NOISE WHEN TRANSMISSION SHIFTS GEARS. 5.0L V8 WITH 10 SPEED TRANSMISSION
I WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH THE VEHICLE IN PARK. I OPENED MY DOOR AND BEGAN TO GET OUT OF MY VEHICLE AND IT BEGAN TO ROLL FORWARD. MY DAUGHTER'S KIDS THAT SHE NANNY'S WAS GETTING OUT OF HER VEHICLE AND HAD HER DOOR OPEN. BEFORE I COULD REACH THE BRAKE PEDAL MY TRUCK RAN INTO HER OPEN DOOR CREASING IT AND ALMOST CRUSHING THE BOY THAT WAS EXITING THE VEHICLE.
ELECTRIC TAILGATE SEEMS TO RANDOMLY OPEN ON IT'S OWN. IT DOES IT WHEN TRUCK IS RUNNING, OR TURNED ON, PARKED OR EVEN DRIVING. VERY ANNOYING AND WORRIED IT WILL CAUSE THE TAILGATE TO BREAK OR LOSE THINGS IN THE BED. IT DOES THIS SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. MOST RECENT WAS 12 IN 1 DAY.
INTERMITTENTLY WHEN ACCELERATING, THE TRANSMISSION HARD SHIFTS COMING OUT OF 3 AND 6TH GEAR, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY SLOW DOWN BEFORE UP SHIFTING. THE STUMBLE CAN BE HARD ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR TO LOCK. REPEATED VISITS TO THE DEALER DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID THAT IS NORMAL OPERATION.
TRANSMISSION MAKES WHINING/GRINDING NOISE WHEN DOWNSHIFTING FROM 4TH TO 1ST GEAR AT LOW SPEEDS. TRANSMISSIONS MAKES CLUNKING NOISES AND JERKS WHEN SHIFTING THROUGH HIGHER GEARS ON ALL TYPES OF ROADS.
INTERMITTENT TRANSMISSION HESITATION UNDER ACCELERATION, WHILE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC FROM A SIDE STREET. WITHOUT WARNING THE TRUCK COMPLETELY CUTS OUT. THE ENGINE IS STILL RUNNING BUT THERE IS NO FORWARD ACCELERATION FROM THE TRUCK. THIS LASTS ABOUT 10 SECONDS. TWO INCIDENTS SO FAR. ALSO VERY HEAVY, ABRUPT SHIFTING, JERKING SHIFTING. ALSO INTERMITTENT WHEN SHIFTING THE TRUCK INTO REVERSE WHILE STATIONARY THERE IS A LOUD HEAVY CLUNK FROM THE TRANSMISSION.
WHILE DRIVING THE THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAULTED AND STEER ABILITY DIMINISHED GREATLY. THERE WAS NO WARNING. IT QUIT WORKING. I WAS TRAVELING AT A LOW SPEED AND WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL.
THE FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVEN AT 65MPH ON HIGHWAY AND THE SECOND TIME AT 45MPH ON CITY AND BOTH TIMES THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK, TO STOP THE VEHICLE I TRIED TO PULL UP THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. IT WAS A REAL UNSAFE CONDITION BECAUSE WAS RUSH HOUR WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK.
I WAS DRIVING AND HAD TO COME TO A QUICK STOP AND MY BRAKE PEDAL FELT LOOSE LIKE THERE WAS NO PRESSURE BEHIND IT, ALMOST CRASHED. IT FELT LIKE THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR
ON INITIAL STARTUP, FUEL LINE BURST DIRECTLY UNDER DRIVERS SIDE, SPRAYED FUEL ALL OVER TRANSFER CASE/POWERTRAIN ELECTRONICS. FIRE DEPT CAME TO ENSURE SAFETY, VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LOCAL FORD DEALER. VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS ~11K MI
I PURCHASED A TRUCK IN MARCH 2019 ,IT WASN'T UP TO THE SPECS REPRESENTED, THE DEALER SWAPPED THE TRUCK FOR ANOTHER NEW 2018, ON APRIL 2019. THE PROBLEM CENTERS AROUND THE TRAILER HITCH BEING REPRESENTED AS A CLASS 4 HITCH ON THE OPTION PACKAGE YET ITS IS CLEARLY LABELED AS ONLY A CLASS 3, UP TO 5000 #'S ON THE LABEL ON THE HITCH ITSELF. I AM NOT GETTING A DEFINITE ANSWER FROM FORD OR THE DEALER AS TO WHAT THE TOWING CAPACITY ACTUALLY IS AT THIS TIME. FORD REFUSES TO SEND THE PROPER HITCH TO THE DEALER TO INSTALL AND I'VE BEEN GIVEN CONFLICTING ANSWERS AS TO WHAT IT IS RATED FOR, AND WHY THE WINDOW STICKER ON SOME TRUCKS SAY CLASS FOUR ,BUT THE LABEL ON THE HITCH SAYS ONLY 5000#'S. THE DEALER WENT BY THE OPTIONS SUPPLIED WITH THE TRUCK WHEN THEY SWAPPED THEM IN APRIL, ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTS WITH THIS TRUCK. I AM CONCERNED THAT IF I TOW MY 7000# TRAILER I'LL BE OUT SIDE THE LEGAL LIMIT FOR THE HITCH, ALSO IT COULD BE EXPOSING MYSELF AND OTHERS TO AN UNSAFE CONDITION. I HAVE CONTACTED MR. MAURICE HICKS AT D.O.T. AND HAVE PASSED ALONG TO HIM PICTURES HE NEEDED TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. HE SUGGESTED I CONTACT SAFERCAR TO START THE PROCESS . MYSELF AND THE SERVICE MANGER AT THE DEALER EXAMINED SEVERAL NEW TRUCKS ON HIS LOT AND DISCOVERED THAT IT SEEMS TO OCCUR COMMONLY AS TO THE OPTION PACKAGE WITH THE TRUCK AND / OR THE WINDOW STICKER ON THE TRUCK DON'T MATCH THE LABELING ON THE HITCH ITSELF, SAYING CLASS 4 BUT LABELED FOR A CLASS 3. I HAVEN'T BEEN USING THE TRUCK FOR OVER 4 MONTHS TO TOW ANYTHING OVER THE RATING ON THE LABEL.

MOTOR MAKES A POP/CLUNK SOUND WHEN STARTING.2.BACK UP WARNING ON AND OFF WHILE BACKING UP.3.DRIVERS SEAT MOVES BACK ON ITS OWN.4.MILEAGE VARIES FROM 13 TO 16 MPG IN SMALL TOWN. MILEAGE IS ONLY 3,797. VEHICLE TIN 3 TIMES FOR START UP POPPING. DEALER SAID THEY REBUILT TOP END. STILL POPS ON START AND VALVES ARE NOW LOUD AS ON A150000 MI MOTOR.
TL* THE CONTACT CALLED ON BEHALF OF THE OWNER OF A 2018 FORD F-150. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE TAILGATE OPENED TWICE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONSUMER TO NHTSA. THE CONTACT WORKED FOR AUTONATION FORD KATY (20777 KATY FWY, KATY, TX 77450, (281) 305-8949) AND STATED THAT THE TAILGATE COULD BE OPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, ESPECIALLY WITH THE KEY FOBS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
MY TRUCK HAS 15,000 MILES ON IT. THE ACCELERATION WILL RUN AWAY FREQUENTLY (PRESS THE PEDAL AND THERE IS A SEVERE LAG AND LACK OF POWER). THERE WILL BE RANDOM ENGINE NOISE WHEN DECELERATING AROUND 45 MILES PER HOUR. ALSO, ACCELERATION WILL BE ROUGH WHEN GOING FROM 20-30 MILES PER HOUR JUST BEFORE THE IT SHIFTS INTO A HIGHER GEAR. I TOOK THIS TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE ARE NO ERROR CODES ON THE TRUCKS COMPUTER SYSTEM. ALSO, THE STEERING WILL BE STIFF OR UNALIGNED AT RANDOM TIMES. PLEASE ASSIST IN GETTING THESE ISSUES CORRECTED.
A defect in the 2018-2020 Ford F-150's 5.0-liter V8 "Coyote" engine that causes excessive oil consumption, potentially leading to engine failure, reduced efficiency, and increased emissions. Ford concealed this defect not letting owners know and didn’t issue a recall. The oil dip always reads as if there is not enough oil in the truck causing you to have to constantly top off oil which is always over the usual amount of oil needed. The excessive oil consumption and potential carbon deposits can lead to severe engine issues, including stalling or even complete engine failure. This has caused other issues. This oil consumption defect has been there since I purchased this vehicle causing oil changes sooner than needed. A manufacturing defects in the 2018-2020 Ford 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission, commonly found in newer F-150 trucks, causing issues like harsh/erratic shifting, jerking, and power loss. The erratic shifting and power loss can pose a safety risk, especially when accelerating, merging, or in traffic. Ford concealed this defect not letting owners know and didn’t issue a recall. I also, have had transmission defects that has needed repairs and replacement due to Power-shift dual-clutch, harsh shifting and power failure. My trucks have had two transmission major repairs. The first time on 9/6/22 at 36,541 miles the whole transmission had to be replaced completely due to powertrain or reduced engine power. Then again on 9/20/25 at 62,948 miles same issue Powertrain (wrench symbol) on the supposedly new transmission this time Ford dealership said it was the transmissions Dual clutches. This i didn't understand why was it happening with a new transmission and always met with an I don’t know these things happen by Ford attendants. This caused to go without a vehicle for months having to use public transportation, loss of money, and time from work. Again, none of these defects were explained or recalled.
THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND THE AUTOMATIC ENGINE SHUT OFF ENGAGE. WHEN THE BRAKE WAS RELEASE THE ENGINE DID NOT START AND A MESSAGE FLASHED ON THE INFORMATION CENTER. CAN NOT QUOTE YOU THE EXACT MESSAGE BECAUSE IT WAS MORNING RUSH HOUR AND A LINE OF VEHICLES WERE BEHIND ME ANXIOUS TO MOVE. THE MESSAGE WAS INSTRUCTIONS WAS TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTART THE ENGINE. THIS RESOLVED THE SITUATION BUT THE ENGINE SHOULD HAVE RESTARTED WITHOUT HAVING TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK.
STEERING PROBLEM
MY 2018 F150 RAPTOR HAS A VAGUE STEERING FEEL AND OCCASIONALLY THE TRUCK WILL AUTO OVER CORRECT THE STEERING WHEN TRYING TO COMPENSATE FOR WIND AND WEATHER. THE ALIGNMENT HAS BEEN CHECKED MULTIPLE TIMES BY BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND INDEPENDENT SHOPS AND VERIFIED AS CORRECT. THE STEERING WHEN CENTER WILL OCCASIONALLY DRIFT TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER, ALSO HAPPENS WHEN CORNERING. IT FEELS AS THOUGH IT'S CONSTANTLY WINDY WHEN DRIVING, EVEN WHEN THERE IS CALM WEATHER. I'VE HAD THE TRUCK INSPECTED BY THE DEALERSHIP TWICE AND THEY HAVE CONTACTED FORD DIRECT WHO HAS REPLIED THE TRUCK IS BEHAVING NORMALLY.
WITH 2018 F-150 10 SPEED TRANSMISSION IS SHIFTING HARD AN DOWN SHIFTS HARD GETTING WHIPLASH. DOWNSTAIRS TOO HARD BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP TODAY IS THE SECOND TIME THEY CONSTANTLY ACT LIKE THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AV TO RESET IT ONCE BEFORE STILL HAVING MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THAT NEW TRANSMISSION. SO BASICALLY IN INNER-CITY DRIVING IS SOMEBODY WAS TO JUMP IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WITH DOWNSHIFT QUICKLY GIVING DRIVER OR ANY PASSENGERS WHIPLASH STOP THE VEHICLE NOT A VERY SAFE OR PRACTICAL BUILD CAN CAUSE ACCIDENTS AND GIVE MAJOR PROBLEMS IF ANYBODY HAS BAD BACKS OR NECKS WAS NOT DISCLOSED AT TIME OF SALE OF A HARD SHIFTING TRANSMISSIONS
ISSUE: RANDOM LOW TIRE PRESSURE ALERT. OCCURS AT ANY TIME. TWO EVENTS WERE DANGEROUS, ONE IN RUSH HOUR CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND THE OTHER DURING A TORNADO. THE CODES SELF CLEAR AFTER A TIME PERIOD. DEALER (CREST FORD) SAID NO CODES RETAINED BY THE TRUCK. FORD HAS NOT RESPONDED TO THE ISSUE OR OFFERED A FIX. OPENED A CASE WITH FORD #CAS17681018 LAST WEEK. ISSUE IS FAILURE TO REPAIR, NO RETENTION OF SAFETY RELATED CODES, AND WHY AFTER 10 MINUTES THE DASH LOW TIRE ALARM SELF CLEARS. ALL ISSUES OCCUR WHILE DRIVING, BOTH ON FREEWAY AND SURFACE STREETS. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED SINCE TAKING DELIVERY OF THE NEW VEHICLE.
THIS NEW TRUCK'S, WHICH WAS PURCHASED IN JANUARY OF 2019, 5.0 LITER ENGINE USED 2.5 QUARTS OF ENGINE OIL IN THE FIRST 3500 MILES. THE TRUCK IS CURRENTLY UNDERGOING AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AT MY EXPENSE.
DANGER!! POTENTIAL EXTREME INJURY OR DEATH POSSIBLE. THESE ISSUES MUST BE ADDRESSED BY FORD. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ENGINE ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN WHEN IN REVERSE. BRAKING: WOULD SLOW DOWN BUT WILL ACCELERATE WHEN BRAKE WAS RELEASED UPON REVERSE. UPON REVERSING UP AN UPHILL LOCAL SIDE STREET DRIVEWAY, BRAKING, AND RELEASING THE BRAKE, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED IN LESS THAN ONE SECOND AT A TREMENDOUS SPEED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO DRIVE FROM REVERSE, THE ENGINE CREATED A HIGH-PITCHED WHINING SOUND. HAD THERE BEEN THE CHILDREN IN THE DRIVEWAY, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THERE IS ALSO A WHINING SOUND FROM THE ENGINE WHEN IT IS RUNNING. CHANGING GEAR FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE: ENGINE CREATES A HIGH-PITCHED WHINING SOUND REVERSE UP A SLIGHT HILL: REVERSING UP A SMALL HILL IMMENSELY ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN. WE NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP WHEN WE RECEIVED THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WAS NOT CORRECTED.
WARPED DASH BOARD CAUSING VISIBILITY AND SAFETY CONCERNS
USING THE AUTO START SYSTEM, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF NORMALLY AT A STOP LIGHT BUT DID NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE DIED AND HAD TO BE RESTARTED MANUALLY, CAUSING VEHICLES BEHIND ME TO SUDDENLY BRAKE IN ANTICIPATION OF ME GOING FORWARD.
ELECTRICAL WIRING. KNOW PROBLEM WITH RODENT (RATS) BEING ATTRACTED TO ALL CRITICAL WIRING AND DESTROYING. THIS MAY CAUSE SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES AS WELL AS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN DAMAGES. SO FAR I HAVE HAD TO PAY MORE THAT $2000. IN DAMAGES ON A NEW (2018) VEHICLE. DAMAGE OCCURS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS PARKED IN A NORMAL MANNER.
NO POWER WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION AND IN MOTION. HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP CRACKED AND BOLT SECURING THE PUMP WAS SHEARED.
STARTED VEHICLE AS USUAL, SHIFTED THE SHIFTER FROM PARK TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE APPEARED TO BE IN DRIVE BUT THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN REVERSE. RELEASING THE BRAKE PEDAL CONFIRMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN REVERSE (VEHICLE MOVED BACKWARDS) BUT THE SHIFTER SHOWED DRIVE. I THEN SHIFTED THE SHIFTER TO PARK BUT THE TRANSMISSION REMAINED STUCK IN REVERSE. ONCE I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE I COULD NOT RESTART BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN REVERSE EVEN THOUGH THE SHIFTER SHOWED IT WAS IN PARK. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. THIS EVENT HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND DID NOT RESULT IN DAMAGE OR INJURIES.
AUTO START/STOP CREATES A HAZARD WHILE TURNING. FOR EXAMPLE, WHILE TURNING LEFT AT A CONTROLLED INTERSECTION AND WAITING FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC, TRUCK SHUTS OFF. UPON RESTART, THERE IS NOTICEABLE LAG IN POWER STEERING WHICH EFFECT THE ABILITY TO TURN. NO ABILITY TO TURN AUTO STOP/START OFF PERMANENTLY WITHOUT VOIDING WARRANTY. CRASH STATS PROVE LEFT TURNING MOVEMENTS AT INTERSECTIONS CARRY SIGNIFICANTLY HIGH RISK. ADDITIONAL UNPREDICTABLE STEERING BEHAVIOR INCREASES ALREADY HIGH RISK. I FEEL THE SYSTEM IS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. POWER STEERING IS NOT INSTANT UPON START UP AND AUTO START/STOP FUNCTIONS SMOOTHLY UNLESS WAITING TO TURN.
THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING AROUND 5000 MILES. THE PROBLEM OCCURS AFTER START UP WHEN TRANSMISSION IS COOL. DURING THE FIRST DRIVE CYCLE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS FROM 3RD-4TH GEAR, IT WILL SLIP REALLY BAD. ONCE IT DOES ACTUALLY SHIFT INTO 4TH GEAR IT FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REAR ENDED. AFTER MULTIPLE TRIPS TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR WARRANTY REPAIR, THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. THE LAST DEALERSHIP I TOOK THE TRUCK TO CONFIRMED THE SLIP AND REPLACED THE MAIN CONTROL IN THE TRANSMISSION AND REPLACED THE FLUID. I PICKED UP THE TRUCK 2 WEEKS LATER AND THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED WHEN I LEFT THE THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THE REPAIR. THE SERVICE TECH ADVISED ME TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR A FEW DAYS TO ALLOW IT TO GO THROUGH ITS ADAPTIVE LEARN CYCLE. AFTER DOING SO, THE TRANSMISSION STILL CONTINUED TO SLIP. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK A WEEK LATER FOR REPAIR. THE SERVICE TECH DROVE THE VEHICLE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE SLIP STILL EXISTED. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THEY CONTACTED FORD HELP HOTLINE AND WERE INSTRUCTED TO DO A COMPLETE REBUILD OF THE TRANSMISSION. 3 WEEKS LATER I WAS TOLD THE TRUCK WAS READY. I PICKED THE TRUCK UP AND DROVE IT HOME WITH NO PROBLEMS. I LET IT SIT FOR 24 HOURS AND DROVE IT AGAIN AND THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AGAIN. AFTER TWO FAILED ATTEMPTS TO FIX THE ISSUE, THIS DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THAT ACCORDING TO FORD HOTLINE, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY TRUCK.. THE TRUCK IS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING NOW AS IT DID BEFORE THEY ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR IT. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT CONSTITUTES TWO SEPARATE REPAIRS IS SUDDENLY NOT A PROBLEM ANYMORE BECAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. SO NOW I AM A FORD CUSTOMER WITH A FAULTY TRUCK THAT FORD REFUSES TO FIX.
AFTER TOWING A TRAILER FOR SOME MILES (130 OR SO IN THIS CASE) THE VEHICLE STALLS/DIES AFTER PULLING UP TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. THIS REPEATED ITSELF MULTIPLE TIMES (7 IN ONE TOWN) AND TWICE IN ANOTHER TOWN BEFORE GETTING HOME. THIS HAPPENED WITH THE AUTO STOP FEATURE ENABLED AND DISABLED. SYSTEM CHIMED AT EACH OCCURENCE AND INDICATED THAT DRIVER SHOULD PUT TRUCK IN PARK AND TURN IGNITION KEY.
