POWER IS BEING TRANSFERRED TO THE DRIVESHAFT WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK, MAKING THE DRIVESHAFT SPIN BACKWARDS. A LOUD MECHANICAL CLUNK IS HEARD FROM THE TRANSMISSION WHEN OCCURRING. THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY WHEN STARTING. AFTER 6 WEEKS AND THREE ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR, FORD STATED "THIS GEAR STATE IS IDEAL FOR ANTICIPATION OF AN ENGAGEMENT BUT ALSO GENERATES A POSITIVE DRAG TO THE DRIVELINE AND CAN CAUSE A ROCKING SENSATION OF THE VEHICLE AT OR JUST AFTER ENGINE START IN PARK. THE 2 LOANER F-150S DRIVEN WHILE WAITING WITH THE 10R80 TRANSMISSION DID NOT EXHIBIT THE CONDITION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS WOULD NOT REMAIN CLOSED AND COULD NOT BE LOCKED AND SECURED. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR DURING COLD TEMPERATURES. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. HUMPHREY PARKWAY FORD (311 COMMERCIAL DR, DOVER, OH) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,500.
I BOUGHT A NEW F-150 LAST AUGUST FROM THE FORD DEALER IN ASHBORO, NC. WITH BELOW FREEZING WEATHER THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH. THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED THROUGH A MESSAGE ON HIS WEBSITE BUT HAS NOT RESPONDED. THE LAST F-150 I OWNED DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND NEITHER DID A COUPLE E-150 VANS BEFORE THAT. I DID HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH A FORD MUSTANG BACK IN THE 70'S BUT FOUND THAT I COULD PUSH DOWN THE DOOR LOCK BEFORE SLAMMING THE DOOR. THE LOCK WOULD THEN POP UP AND THE DOOR WOULD LATCH. THIS TECHNIQUE DID NOT WORK WITH THE NEW F-150. I THINK THIS CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION, I.E. HOLDING THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR SHUT SINCE IT WANTS TO FLY OPEN DURING RIGHT TURNS. YOU WOULD THINK THAT FORD WOULD AT LEAST INCLUDE A HOOK ON THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR SO YOU COULD LOOP THE SEAT BELT THROUGH IT TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED IN COLD WEATHER.
CPSC:2018 FORD F150 FROZEN DOOR LATCH ISSUE. IN TEMPERATURES BELOW FREEZING THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH WILL NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. IT EITHER PREVENTS THE DOOR FROM BEING OPENED OR ONCE OPENED IT PREVENTS THE DOOR FROM BEING CLOSED. *DT *TR
I AM EXPERIENCING DOOR LATCH ISSUES ON MY 2018 FORD F150 SUPERCREW PICKUP TRUCK. IN COLD WEATHER, I AM ABLE TO OPEN THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR, BUT UNABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR. WHEN I ATTEMPT TO CLOSE THE DOOR, IT BOUNCES BACK AT ME. I AM CONCERNED THE DOOR IS NOT SECURE, AND CAN OPEN AT ANY TIME. THE DOOR WILL SUBSEQUENTLY CLOSE ONLY AFTER THE TRUCK IS RUNNING WITH THE HEAT ON HIGH FOR OVER 30 MINUTES. THIS IS A GREAT CONCERN FOR SAFETY AS WE HAVE TO HAVE SOMEONE SIT IN THE REAR SEATS AND HOLD THE DOOR SHUT WHEN WE EXPERIENCE THE ISSUE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS WINTER THAT THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED, AND THE ISSUE HAS BEEN WIDELY DOCUMENTED ON THE INTERNET. I HAVE OPENED A CASE WITH FORD, AND THEY DO NOT BELIEVE THE NEWER F150'S ARE IMPACTED.
PASSENGER SIDE FRONT DOOR WILL NOT LATCH WHEN COLD. DOESN'T HAVE TO BE RAINING OR SNOWING LIKE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED. PARKED OVERNIGHT AND WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOOR THE LATCH RELEASES BUT WILL NOT RE LATCH.
ALL 4 DOORS ON THE VEHICLE WERE FROZEN THIS MORNING. I WAS ABLE TO REMOTE START THE TRUCK TO TRY AND WARM IT UP, BUT HAD TO TAKE AN UBER TO WORK AS THAT DID NOT WORK. I HAD THE DEALER PERFORM FIELD SERVICE ACTION 18N03 ON THE TRUCK LAST MONTH.
DOOR LATCH DOESN'T WORK/KEEP DOOR CLOSED WHEN IT'S BELOW FREEZING OUTSIDE. THIS ONLY OCCURS WHEN IT'S BELOW FREEZING OUTSIDE.
WHEN DECELERATING FROM DRIVING SPEED, THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF AT APPROXIMATELY 5-8 MPH DISABLING THE POWER STEERING. A MESSAGE APPEARS ON THE DISPLAY "AUTO STARTSTOP MANUAL RESTART REQUIRED." TRANSMISSION MUST BE SHIFTED TO N OR P TO RESTART. VEHICLE SHUTS OFF AT SUBSEQUENT STOPS, WHILE STILL MOVING, DISABLING POWER STEERING. DISABLING THE AUTO STARTSTOP BY PUSHING THE BUTTON ON THE DASHBOARD HAS NO EFFECT ON THIS HAPPENING.
ON JAN 25TH, 27TH AND 29TH A "MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP - REGULATORY' LIGHT WENT ON, AND AT THE SAME TIME THERE WAS A WARNING OF 'REDUCE POWER' THE TRUCK POWER RESULTS IN AN REDUCTION OF SPEED TO 10-20 MPH. THIS HAPPENS AT SPEED, 60-70MPH ON THE FREEWAY, TO 10-20 MPH. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER, AFTER A 'SOFTWARE' UPGRADE I WAS TOLD THE TRUCK WAS OK. HOWEVER ON FED 11TH AT NIGHT ON A HIGHWAY WITH NO SHOULDER THE "MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP - REGULATORY' LIGHT WHEN ON, AND AT THE SAME TIME THERE WAS A WARNING OF 'REDUCE POWER' THE TRUCK POWER RESULTS IN AN REDUCTION OF SPEED TO 10-20 MPH. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE TRUCK GOING, IS TO SHUT IT OFF AND RE-START THE TRUCK, THE ENGINE 'LIGHT' STAYS ON, HOWEVER THE TRUCK RUNS FINE. ITS NOW AT THE DEALER, FOR THE LAST 3 DAYS. THEY THINK IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE TURBO OVER BOOST. MY MAIN CONCERNS IS NOT THE TURBO, BUT THE 'CODING' THAT DE-RATES THE ENGINE, WHEN AT SPEED RESULTING IN AN IMMEDIATE SAFETY ISSUE. WHILE ON ALL OF MY OCCASIONS I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK RESTARTED WITHOUT ANOTHER VEHICLE RUNNING INTO ME. I AM REQUESTING ASSURANCES THAT THE 'CODE' OR PROGRAMMING THAT CAUSES THE REDUCED POWER TO BE REMOVED. FOR ME THIS IS FAR MORE IMPORTANT THAT MAKING A REPAIR TO THE TURBO, AS IT'S DIRECTLY TO SAFETY.
IN WEATHER BELOW 32 DEGREES F DOOR LOCKS FREEZE. POWER LOCK WILL NOT UNLOCK. INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE MAY WORK WITH EFFORT. KEY MAY WORK WITH EFFORT. ONCE OPEN, DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED.
DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WOULDN'T LATCH ON A COLD DAY. TOOK IT IN TO DEALER, THEY REMOVED THE DOOR PANEL, REMOVED THE MOISTURE THAT FROZE UP THE LATCHING MECHANISM AND LUBED THE PARTS. SIX DAYS LATER THE DOOR LATCH FROZE UP AGAIN. COULDN'T GET INTO THE TRUCK. CLIMBED THROUGH THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AND WAS ABLE TO UNLOCK THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AND OPEN IT. THEN IT WOULDN'T LATCH CLOSED. FORCED THE LOCK DOWN AND LET THE TRUCK SIT AND WENT TO WORK. CALLED DEALER TO TELL THEM THE PROBLEM AGAIN. SAID THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME. TWO DAYS LATER I CALLED AND THEY SAID MY VIN WOULD BE PUT ON A RECALL LIST AND AS SOON AS MY TRUCK GOT OKAYED, THEY WOULD ORDER PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. CURRENTLY I DON'T DRIVE MY BRAND NEW TRUCK BECAUSE OF THE DOOR LATCHING PROBLEM. APPARENTLY THIS PROBLEM HAS EXISTED ON THE 2015-2017 FORD F-150 TRUCKS. THERE WAS A RECALL ON LOTS OF THOSE TRUCKS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. NOW MY 2018 TRUCK WILL NEED FIXED UNDER A SIMILAR RECALL AS SOON AS FORD FIGURES OUT WHAT TO DO FOR THE FIX. I'M NOT SURE HOW TO HANDLE THIS. I'M PRETTY DISAPPOINTED IN MY NEW TRUCK WITH THIS ISSUE. I HAVE ATTACHED A RECEIPT OF THE WORK THEY'VE DONE SO FAR. THE DOOR LATCHES ON MY 2018 FORD F150, WHEN BELOW FREEZING, FREQUENTLY FREEZE, THEY WILL OPEN, THEN NOT LATCH SHUT UNTIL I WARM THE LATCHES WITH A HEAT GUN, SOMETIMES THE DOORS WILL APPEAR TO CLOSE, ONLY TO OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THIS IS VERY COMMON, AND THERE IS A TSB FOR THE ISSUE. RECENTLY, I WAS TRAVELING ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY, AND THE DOOR THAT MY 8 MONTH OLD SON WAS SITTING AT FLUNG OPEN, I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND LIMPED THE TRUCK HOME, UNABLE TO GET THE DOOR CLOSED. I HAVE VIDEO OF ME TRYING TO CLOSE THAT DOOR WITH MY SON SITTING IN HIS CAR SEAT. THE FOLLOWING WEEK, I HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE OPPOSITE REAR DOOR, WHICH I ALSO GOT VIDEO OF. THIS ISSUE IS SO COMMON THAT I PREVIOUSLY HAD A 2016 F150 WITH THE SAME EXACT ISSUE, I HAVE VIDEOS OF MYSELF TRYING TO CLOSE THE DOORS ON THAT VEHICLE, BEFORE, AND AFTER FORD TRIED TO FIX THAT TRUCK, DUE TO THIS, AND TRANSMISSION ISSUES ON THAT 2016, I TRADED IT IN AT A LOSS FOR MY 2018 F150, WHICH FORD CLAIMED WOULD NOT HAVE THE PROBLEMS THAT MY PREVIOUS TRUCK HAD. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH FORD TO ATTEMPT TO FIX MY 2018 F150, BUT I AM NOT CONFIDENT THEY WILL BE ABLE TO FIX IT, AS THERE ARE REPORTS THAT THE REVISED TSB THEY ARE USING NOW, ALSO DOESN'T WORK. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE ON ALL 2015+ F150S, AND ON 2017+ 250S, AND 350S, AND FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF THE ISSUE SINCE AT LEAST 2015, ALL ALUMINUM BODIED FORD F-SERIES TRUCKS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THESE VEHICLES SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ROAD UNTIL A WORKABLE FIX IS DEVELOPED AND DEPLOYED.

THE ISSUE I HAVE INVOLVES THE DOOR LATCHES NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY WHEN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURES ARE BELOW FREEZING. ONCE DOOR(S) HAVE BEEN OPENED THEY WILL NOT LATCH WHEN YOU TRY TO CLOSE THEM. MY LOCAL FORD DEALER HAS PERFORMED TSB 18N03 ON ALL FOUR DOORS (TWICE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT DOOR) AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT DOOR. VEHICLE MUST SIT WITH THE HEAT ON FOR SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE LATCHES WILL FUNCTION AGAIN WASTING OWNERS TIME AND GAS. THERE WERE TIMES THAT I HAD NO OPTION BUT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WHILE HOLDING THE DOOR SHUT BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT LATCH. I HAVE A COUPLE OF VIDEOS TO DEMONSTRATE THE ISSUES BUT THE FILE SIZE IS TOO LARGE TO UPLOAD BUT WOULD BE WILLING TO SEND TO SOMEONE VIA EMAIL AT YOUR REQUEST. DURING MY RESEARCH THIS APPEARS TO BE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE THAT FORD HAS NOT REMEDIED AND IS A SAFETY CONCERN WHEN ONE HAS TO HOLD THE DOOR SHUT WHILE DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING, BETWEEN ABOUT 800 AND 1700RPMS, WHEN YOU LET OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE TIMING CHAINS RATTLE FOR ABOUT 1 SECOND. IT DOES IT EVERY TIME WITHIN THOSE RPM RANGES.
REAR DOOR LATCH OF CREW CAB PICKUP TRUCK FROZE IN OPEN POSITION. DOOR CAN NOT CLOSE OR BE LOCKED. DOOR FLIES OPEN WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE MAKING VEHICLE UNSAFE AND NOT DRIVEABLE. DISCOVERED PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AN DOOR SPRANG OPEN 40 MPH.
REAR ELECTRONIC TAILGATE OPENS ON ITS OWN WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN 15 TIMES IN FOUR MONTHS. FREQUENCY INCREASING. DANGER TO OTHERS. A KNOWN ISSUE ON F250 AND 350 MODELS, NOW ON F150 TOO
FROZEN DOOR LATCH BEEN IN TWICE NOT FIXED DOOR OPENS WHEN MOVING I BELIEVE IT IS SAFETY ISSUE
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET THE ACCELERATOR ON MY FORD F-150 BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN BUT IT ONLY ACCELERATED AT A HIGHER RATE. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE SHIFTER IN NEUTRAL AND PULL OVER TO A SAFE AREA,WITH THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THE TRUCK WOULD CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT, NOW THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS SAYING THAT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM WHEN THERE OBVIOUSLY IS A PROBLEM.
I DROVE OFF AND THE PASS DOOR OPENED UP WILE MAKING A LEFT TURN . I TRIED TO CLOSE IT AND THE LATCH WOULD NOT ENGAGE
THE ENGINE SOMETIMES STUMBLES ON LIGHT ACCELERATION LIKE IT IS STARVING FOR FUEL. I HIT THE GAS, THE ENGINE STARTS TO RESPOND, THEN ACTS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL. I LET OFF THE GAS AND HIT IT AGAIN, SAME THING. I HAVE TRAVELED AS MUCH AS 500 FT. BEFORE THE ENGINE RESPONDS PROPERLY. DEALER CAN'T FIND ANYTHING, AS IT IS RANDOM AND DOESN'T PRODUCE A FAULT CODE. DOESN'T MATTER IF THE ENGINE IS HOT OR COLD. HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. DANGEROUS SITUATION. IT HAS HAPPENED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND WHEN I JUST PULLED OUT OF THE GARAGE.
DURING EXTREME COLD WEATHER, 0 DEGREES AND COLDER, DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE/LATCH. MANIPULATED LOCKS AND DOOR HANDLE SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE DOORS WOULD STAY SHUT. ALL WHILE PARKED
IN THE MORNING I OPENED THE FRONT DOOR, GOT IN AND CLOSED THE DOOR AND DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSED. OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH AND WOULD JUST BOUNCE. I PUSHED THE LOCK/ UNLUCK BUTTON MULTIPLE TIMES WITHOUT SUCCESS. I WAS GOING TO BE LATE FOR WORK SO I JUST HELD THE DOOR CLOSED. 30 MINUTES INTO MY DRIVE THE WHILE PUSHING THE LOCK/ UNLOCK BUTTON AND THE DOOR FINALLY LATCHED. I HAVE HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN NOW 4 DIFFERENT DAYS AND ON BOTH FRONT AND PASSENGER AND DRIVERS DOORS. FORD STATES THERE IS NO TSB FOR MY 2018 FORD. THE TRUCK IS LESS THAN 1 MONTH OLD. I HAVE VIDEO OF THE DOORS DOING SUCH.
VEHICLE PARKED IN HOME DRIVEWAY AT 4:30 AM. OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE 26 DEGREES F. WALKED UP TO VEHICLE. OPENED DRIVER'S DOOR AND LEFT REAR DOOR. ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE DOORS AND NEITHER WOULD LATCH CLOSED. AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO CLOSE DOORS WHILE STANDING OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE THEY STILL WOULD NOT CLOSE. DOORS WOULD BOUNCE OPEN WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE. LATCHES WOULD NOT ENGAGE DOORS SHUT WHATSOEVER. ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE DOORS FROM SITTING INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND SAME RESULTS. DOORS WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSED AND REMAINED STUCK OPEN. IT WAS NECESSARY TO HEAT THE DOOR LATCHES DIRECTLY WITH A HEAT GUN FOR 5-10 MINS EACH BEFORE THEY WOULD LATCH CLOSED IN ORDER TO DRIVE SAFELY. MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND INCONVENIENCE MAKING ME LATE FOR WORK.THIS ISSUES HAS HAPPENED 3 CONSECUTIVE MORNINGS NOW FROM JAN 14, 2019 - JAN 16, 2019. DOORS DO NOT OPERATE NORMALLY IN BELOW FREEZING TEMPS.
WE BOUGHT THE NEW TRUCK WITH 55 MILES ON THE ODOMETER ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 12. TODAY, MONDAY, JANUARY 14, WE WERE STANDING BESIDE THE VEHICLE WHEN IT CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURNED COMPLETELY. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY ON THE SIDE OF A HIGHWAY WHERE WE HAD JUST LOADED A TRAILER.

TEMPERATURE DROPPED TO 20 DEGREES F THIS MORNING AND THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT LATCH SHUT. HAVE TRIED LOCKING/UNLOCKING AND MOVING LATCH WITH SCREWDRIVER BUT DOOR WILL NOT REMAIN CLOSED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD TAKEN HIS VEHICLE TO THOMASVILLE FORD LINCOLN (1515 E JACKSON ST, THOMASVILLE, GA 31792) ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS DUE TO ABNORMAL NOISES COMING FROM THE ENGINE, THE TRANSMISSION SKIPPING GEARS, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATING. ON HIS LAST VISIT, A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE AND MULTIPLE FAILURE CODES APPEARED ON THE VEHICLE. THE DIAGNOSTIC HE RECEIVED FROM THE DEALER STATED FOR HIM TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER; HOWEVER, THE DEALER ALLOWED THAT CONTACT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. UPON RETURN OF HIS VEHICLE, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH AFTER MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT LOST COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A TELEPHONE POLE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT. THE POLICE WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION AT THE SCENE AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE HE WAS TREATED FOR A CONCUSSION, AN INJURED VERTEBRA, A HERNIATED DISC, AND INJURIES TO HIS LEFT ARM, LEFT HAND AND LEFT THUMB. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AT THE SCENE AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT COLLISION CENTER. THE SAME DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A CLAIM WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,363. *LN *TR Consumer stated vehicle decelerated on the hwy from 80 mph to 20 mph on its own.
IN BELOW FREEZING WEATHER MY DOORS WILL NOT STAY SHUT UNTIL THE INTERRIOR OF THE CABIN WARMS WHICH TAKES NEARLY 30 MIN. BUT THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE BECAUSE DOORS CAN OPEN WHILE DRIVING WITH LATCHES NOT FUNCTIONING KEEPING DOOR SECURE.
THE DRIVERS DOOR LATCH AND LOCK FREEZES IN COLD WEATHER. THIS HAPPENS ANY TIME TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 27 DEGREES. DOOR WILL EITHER NOT OPEN OR NOT LATCH CLOSED.VERY DANGEROUS! ON A COLDER MORNING, BOTH RIGHT SIDE DOOR LOCKS FROZE AFTER I HAD OPENED THEM AND DROVE AWAY. IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, IN COLD WEATHER, I MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF MY VEHICLE! I ALSO HAD TO DRIVE TO WORK ONE DAY HOLDING THE DRIVERS DOOR CLOSED! AFTER AIR TEMPERATURE OR VEHICLE WARMS, LATCHES AND LOCKS FUNCTION NORMALLY. NOT GOOD LIVING IN A NORTHERN CLIMATE.
DURING SOME STARTS ENGINE WILL PRODUCE A SMELL. LOOKING UNDERNEATH VEHICLE, I'VE NOTICED 2 LEAKS COMING FROM THE EXHAUST SYSTEM.
THE DRIVERS FRONT AND BACK DOORS DURING COLD WEATHER WILL NOT LATCH AND CLOSE.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,459. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
NUMEROUS TIMES I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND MY TRANSMISSION LAGS SO MUCH THAT 8 SLOW DOWN AT LEAST 5 TO 7 MPH ALTHOUGH IT HASNT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT YET I FEEL AN ACCIDENT COULD EASILY OCCUR ESPECIALLY IN SITUATIONS WERE I WOULD NEED TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY THERE HAS ALSO BEEN MULTIPLE CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS BROUGHT AGAINST FORD INVOLVING THESE TYPE OF PARTICULAR INCIDENTS REGARDING THE 10R80 TRANSMISSION
IN FREEZING WEATHER, THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS FREEZE UP, NOT ALLOWING THE DOORS TO UNLOCK WITH THE KEY FOB OR THE CONTROLS ON THE DOORS. I WAS ABLE TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE INSIDE BUY USING THE HIDDEN KEY IN THE FOB.
DOOR LATCH ISSUE CAUSED MAJOR LIFE AND DEATH SAFETY ISSUE. ON A COLD MORNING TWO DAYS AGO I LEFT FOR WORK DOORS WERE ALL FULLY CLOSED AND LOCKED. MERGING ONTO HIGHWAY THE PASSENGER DOOR OPENED AND STARTED TO FLAP OPEN AND CLOSED, AT SPEED. I PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CLOSE DOOR OR GET IT TO LATCH. I QUICKLY LOOKED FOR SOLUTIONS ONLINE AND TO MY DISMAY I SAW THE PREVIOUS FOUR YEARS HAD A RECALL FOR SAME ISSUE. I HAD TO DRIVE HOME WITH THE DOOR UNSECURED AND FLAPPING OPEN AND CLOSED NEVER LATCHING. LATER IN THE DAY I HAD IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AS CAR IS BRAND NEW AND HAS 1400 MILES ON IT. THEY SAID SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL CORPORATE WON'T LET THEM DO ANYTHING TO FIX IT. A CALL TO FORD CORPORATE SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I JUST PAID FOR THIS TRUCK AND I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT AFTER THIS HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE. I AM NOT THE FIRST EITHER BASED ON WHAT I HAVE READ. FORD DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMER SAFETY AND IT'S GROSS NEGLIGENCE. THE CONSUMER OF THIS PRODUCT NEED HELP!!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT A STOP LIGHT, THE STOP/START MODE ACTIVATED AUTOMATICALLY. AFTER RELEASING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LUNGED FORWARD AND STALLED. THE DRIVER HAD TO IMMEDIATELY RESTART THE ENGINE TO AVOID BEING REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CORWIN FORD (3241 S. GLENSTONE AVE, SPRINGFIELD, MO) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY WAS FAULTY. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000. *TT DEALER STATED FAILURE WAS DUE TO BATTERY. BATTERY WAS REPLACED JAN. 25, 2019. BATTERY LASTED 43 DAYS, THIRD BATTERY WAS INSTALLED ON MARCH 19,2019.*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LATCHES WERE INOPERABLE. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO LATCH THE DOORS AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK AND OPEN THE DOORS FOR RE-ENTRY INTO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ROMEO FORD OF KINGSTON (128 NY-28, KINGSTON, NY 12401, (845) 338-7800) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LOCKING MECHANISM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCKING MECHANISMS WERE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE REAR DOOR LOCKING MECHANISMS WERE NOT REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED IN EXTREMELY COLD WEATHER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,646.
THE STEERING CONSTANTLY PULLS TO THE LEFT AND PULLS TO THE RIGHT. THE STEERING HAS IMPULSES THAT ARE FELT IN THE STEERING DURING NORMAL DRIVING. THE STEERING WHEEL OSCILLATES AND ATTEMPTS TO MAKE STEERING CORRECTIONS AT ANY SPEED. THE STEERING WHEEL WILL REMAIN TURNED IN ONE DIRECTION. FOR EXAMPLE, DRIVING THROUGH A CURVE GOING LEFT, HANDS CAN BE REMOVED FROM STEERING WHEEL AND STEERING WHEEL WILL LOCK ITSELF IN POSITION AND STAY TURNING LEFT. THE DYSFUNCTIONAL STEERING DROVE ME OFF OF A 2 LANE ROAD AT 55MPH. THE POOR STEERING OF THIS VEHICLE CREATES AN UNSAFE AND NOT ROAD WORTHY VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION CAN NOT DECIDE WHICH GEAR TO BE IN CREATING PAUSES OF POWER DISTRIBUTION TO THE REAR WHEELS. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD AND PULLS THE VEHICLE BACK AND FORTH CREATING LOUD CLUNKING NOISES AND RATTLING THE PASSENGERS. THE POOR OPERATION OF THE TRANSMISSION CREATES UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS.
VEHICLE WILL SOME TIMES HESITATE DURING ACCELERATION AND TRANSMISSION WILL SLIP - ENGINE RPMS WILL RISE TO ABOUT 2000 AND THEN TRANSMISSION WILL ENGAGE WITH A HEAVY CLUNK IN THE DRIVE TRAIN. THIS ISSUES HAS HAPPENED WHEN ENGINE IS COLD AND AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMP. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 9000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND HAS HAPPENED FIVE(5) TIMES ALREADY. TOOK TO LOCAL DEALER AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO DOPLICATE
TRUCK WAS MOVING STRAIGHT FORWARD AT 10MPH ON A SUBURBAN STREET, BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, VEHICLE DID NOT STOP. NO BRAKE FLUID LEAK APPARENT, RESERVOIR FOR BRAKE FLUID IS SLIGHTLY OVER FULL. SUSPECT FAULTY MASTER CYLINDER.
I HAVE A 2018 F-150 BUILT AT THE DEARBORN PLANT ON 06/12/18. THE TRUCK ODOMETER READS 4,300 MILES. I WAS DRIVING IN THE TRUCK WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW FREEZING. WHEN PERFORMING A TURN, THE DRIVER'S DOOR POPPED OPEN. I WAS ABLE TO GRAB A HOLD OF THE DOOR AND TRIED TO SHUT IT. THE LATCH WOULD NOT FUNCTION. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND EXITED. I SLAMMED THE DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES FROM OUTSIDE AND IT FINALLY LATCHED. I CALLED THE DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY HAVE OBSERVED THIS ON OTHER TRUCKS AND THAT FORD HAS ISSUED A FIX. THE DEALER CLAIMED THAT THEY HAVE HAD A 50% SUCCESS RATE ON THE REPAIR, AND THAT WHEN IT IS NOT SUCCESSFUL, THE PROBLEM WILL BECOME WORSE. BECAUSE OF THE LOW SUCCESS RATE, I ASKED IF IT WAS STILL ADVISABLE TO HAVE THE REPAIRS MADE. THEY ADVISED ME TO BRING THE VEHICLE FOR REPAIR.
After starting the vehicle, at any time in under a minute the vehicle's engine will randomly shut off and display a message on the instrument cluster "Auto StartStop, Shift to P then Restart Engine". A photo of this message is included in this report. This issue can occur while in Park, Reverse, Neutral, or Drive. I have had it randomly occur to me upwards of 40 occasions over the past 3 years. A few times I have actually been driving at a slow speed (below 10 mph) when the engine stopped. So far for me, it seems to only happen when the engine RPM's are below 1500 or so. It feels like the engine shakes and then shuts off, then the dash chimes and displays the message mentioned above. I follow the instructions; I turn the ignition off, shift to Park, and restart the engine. Sometimes it starts back up fine and I am able to drive away. Other times the engine shuts off almost instantly and I have to try many, many times (10 to 20) to finally get the engine to stay on so I can drive it. If the engine were to stop while I was making a turn in a busy intersection or on a busy roadway, it would no doubt cause an accident and could be serious or even fatal since I would be unable to move. I have had this looked at by my local Ford Dealer Service shop and they have been unable to replicate the issue. I am not surprised by this since this appears to be random. They have told me to shut off my Auto Start/Stop feature and that is all they did. I have not had this issue looked at by Ford, police, or insurance since thankfully so far it has not occurred in an accident. The only warning message that appears is the "Auto StartStop, Shift to P then Restart Engine" on the cluster. I have not noticed and symptoms that result in this issue so far. This issue first appeared January 2020. Note: This has NOTHING to do with the Auto Start/Stop feature of the vehicle. I have had this issue occur when the Start/Stop feature is active and when it is disengaged.
ENGINE TAPPING NOISE WHEN HOT.
THE STEERING OF MY 2018 F150 IS STICKING IN PLACES AND HAS TO BE MANUALLY PULLED OUT OF THE POSITION. IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED 3 HEAD ON COLLISIONS TO DATE. FORD HAS HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO LOOK AT AND ADDRESS THE ISSUE, BUT INFORMED ME THAT THAT IS JUST THE WAY THEIR NEW POWER STEERING WORKS. THEY SAID THEY WILL CONTINUE TO LOOK AT IT, BUT THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN REALLY BE DONE TO ADDRESS IT. FORD CASE NUMBER CAS-16915256
VEHICLE IS A 2018 F-150 WITH THE 5.0 V-8. WHEN THE ENGINE IS FIRST STARTED AFTER A LONG PERIOD, IT WILL EXHIBIT AN ENGINE RATTLE NOISE WHEN LETTING OF THE GAS PEDAL BETWEEN 1500 RPM TO 800 RPM AND SOMETIMES WHEN SLOWLY ACCELERATING. ONCE THE ENGINE GETS TO OPERATING TEMP, THE NOISE GOES AWAY. THE TRUCK MUST BE IN GEAR AND UNDER LOAD, IT DOES NOT HAPPEN WHEN IN PARK OR NEUTRAL. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE TSB 18-2354 PREFORMED WITH NO SUCCESS.
FORD 2018 F150 REAR WINDOW / DEFROSTER ISSUES - LUCKILY, MY REAR WINDOW DID NOT SHATTER AS OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED, BUT I HAVE EXPERIENCED DEFROSTER OVERHEATING TO THE POINT WHERE 2 OUT OF 3 SECTIONS OF THE WINDOW NO LONGER WORK. UPON INSPECTION, IT APPEARS THE RESISTIVE ELEMENTS ARE BURNT AND BECOMING DELAMINATED FROM THE WINDOW IN MULTIPLE PLACES. I DID ALSO SMELL WARM/BURNING ELECTRONICS AT THE TIME IT HAPPENED. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP - AS THIS SHOULD STILL BE UNDER WARRANTY, BUT WAS TOLD THE CLAIM WAS DENIED, EVEN THOUGH I DID NOTHING TO CAUSE THIS AND THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED. I CAN SEE HOW A SUDDEN OVER-CURRENT / OVERHEATING LIKE THIS COULD LEAD TO GLASS SHATTERING AND FORD SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE IF THEIR CONTROLS AND/OR DEFROSTER ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. IT IS ALSO DANGEROUS, AS MY VISION IS OBSTRUCTED AS A RESULT OF THIS ISSUE. THIS MOST LIKELY HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, DURING WARM-UP, USING AUTO-START.

A FIRE TRUCK ARRIVED WITH A FIRE INSPECTOR WHO EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGER NEAR THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY. AN INDEPENDENT SOURCE WAS CALLED TO INVESTIGATE THE FAILURE. BENNA FORD SUPERIOR (3022 TOWER AVE, SUPERIOR, WI 54880, (715) 394-8669) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FIRE. A FIRE INSPECTION REPORT WAS TO BE DETERMINED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
