THE DOORS WILL BECOME UNLOCKED AND UNLATCHED WHEN DRIVING. IT WAS COLD AND I WAS LEAVING WORK. DOOR WOULD NOT SHUT AT FIRST. THE DOOR FINALLY SHUT AND LATCHED. I PUSHED THE LOCK BUTTON JUST TO BE SURE. GOT ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE DOOR OPENED. I HAD TO HOLD MY DOOR SHUT WITH ALL MY STRENGTH WHILE GOING DOWN A HIGHWAY. I COULDN'T LEAVE IT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT THE DOOR SHUTTING. IT HAPPENED THE NEXT MORNING AS WELL TRYING TO GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE IN COLD WEATHER, THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS WOULD NOT REMAIN LATCHED AND SECURED. THE DOORS UNLATCHED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO STEVENS FORD (717 BRIDGEPORT AVE, MILFORD, CT) WHO INSTALLED A LUBRICATE TO THE DOORS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
STARTED AND BACKED THE 2018 FORD F150 FROM THE GARAGE THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED. A HOLE WAS NOTED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE REAR WINDOW. HAD TO HAVE FORD REPLACE THE WINDOW IN WHICH THEY WOULD NOT PUT UNDER WARRANTY. WE HAD JUST INSTALLED A TONNO COVER.
TRUCK ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WILL EXPECTANTLY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. REAR SENSOR FAULT, TIRE PRESSURE, RADIO CONTROLS GO OUT, AIR CONDITIONER STOPS WORKING, POWER WINDOWS STOP WORKING, POWER RUNNING BOARDS STOP WORKING. POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING.
DOORS WON'T CLOSE WHEN 30 DEGREES OR COLDER. PERIODICALLY DOOR LOCKS FREEZE. ISSUE OCCURS IN BOTH HUMID AND DRY ENVIRONMENTS. THIS OCCURS WHEN THE CAR IS NOT IN USE, OR IF DRIVEN IN COLD TEMPERATURES WITHOUT THE CABIN HEAT ON. TO RESOLVE YOU MUST HEAT THE DOORS TO THEN CLOSE. ONGOING PROBLEM ALL THIS WINTER REQUIRING ME TO BUNGEE CORD DOORS CLOSE TO DRIVE, AND PERIODICALLY LEAVE DOORS OPEN WHILE AT WORK OR GOING INTO STORES.
Since purchasing the vehicle the infotainment system has and always been substandard. Which is very frustration when your purchasing a new truck. There seem to be many glitches to the system and never reacted the same way twice when I had to reprogram it every time I got into the vehicle. It became an unreliable way to communicate and very unsafe. I felt very insecure using the system knowing that I would have to readjust or touch the infotainment to make it work had to pull over on the side of the road a lot. I believe that this product is completely faulty and could have been a fatal flaw for Many f150 drivers.
I AM EXPERIENCING AN ISSUE WITH MY FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. THE DOOR WILL EITHER DO ONE OF TWO THINGS. ONE, THE DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE AT ALL, IT WON'T EVEN LOCK, IT SWINGS OPEN FREELY AND EFFORTLESSLY. TWO, IF THE DOOR IS CLOSED AND LOCKED IT WILL NOT UNLOCK. I HAVE BROUGHT MY VEHICLE BACK TO FORD FOR A FIX. IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT THERE IS A KNOWN PROGRAM FOR THIS ISSUE ALREADY, PROGRAM 18N03. TWO DAYS LATER AFTER THE "FIX" BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP THE DOOR ISSUE STILL REMAINS. I AM SCHEDULED TO BRING BACK THE VEHICLE IN THE MORNING.

2018 F-150 FORD SUPER CAB PICK UP. I HAD HEARD ABOUT SWOLLEN LUG NUTS AND WHEN I TRIED MY LUG NUT WRENCH THAT CAME WITH VEHICLE, IT WOULD NOT FIT. THE ISSUE IS FORD USES A 2 PIECE LUG NUT AND OVERTIME THEY SWELL CAUSING THE OUTER LAYER TO SWELL AND THAT IS WHY THE VEHICLE LUG NUT WRENCH WILL NOT FIT. I CHECKED WITH THE SELLING DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT IS A REA DEAL. I ASKED IF THEY HAD REPLACEMENT NUTS THAT ARE NOT OEM 2 PIECE NUTS. I WAS TOLD YES BUT I WILL NOT SELL THEM BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. SO FORD DOESN'T EVEN HAVE AN OPTION TO FIX THIS ISSUE. I WAS TOLD BUY THE ONE PIECE NUT AT AN AUTO STORE. FORD IS IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AND WILL NOT COMMENT ABOUT A RECALL AND REPLACEMENT NUTS AND THAT MAYBE THE REASON THEY ARE NOT OFFERING A SATISFACTORY REPLACEMENT NUT. IF ONE WANTS TO REPLACE THEM YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN DIME. IT AFFECTS MY ESCAPE AS WELL AS MOST OF FORD PRODUCTS IT WAS STATIONARY IN MY GARAGE BUT DOING RESEARCH IT IS OCCURRING FREQUENTLY ON THE ROAD
DOOR LATCH FROZE AGAIN ON DRIVER'S SIDE AND POPPED OPEN. UNABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR. VEHICLE IN MOTION. HAD TO HOLD CLOSED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING.
MY F-150 WITH STANDARD MIRRORS, LEAVES A DRIVER OPEN TO MANY BLIND SPOTS. MY VEHICLE IS A SUPER CREW. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A LARGER MIRROR BUT I'M TOLD FORD DOES NOT MAKE ONE, WHICH I DON'T BELIEVE. MY PREVIOUS 2012 F-150 SUPER CREW HAD AWESOME MIRRORS, WHICH LEFT NO ROOM FOR A BLIND SPOT. WHY THE CHANGE? YES, SMALLER MIRRORS ARE MORE AREO DYNAMIC BUT LACK FOR SAFETY AND VISUALIZATION. ALL REMAINS AS IS UNTIL PEOPLE START GETTING HURT OR KILLED BECAUSE OF POOR VISUALIZATION. PLEASE HELP ME FIND A SAFER MIRROR. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET, BUT DO WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE DOES?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH IN THE RAIN, THE TAILGATE FELL DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SHEEHY FORD OF MARLOW HEIGHTS (301-298-0793, LOCATED AT 5000 AUTH RD, MARLOW HEIGHTS, MD 20746), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4,500.
THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE IS RUBBING AGAINST THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR SPRING, CAUSING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE TO BEGIN RUBBING THROUGH ITS RUBBER CASING AGAINST THE STEEL SPRING. FAILURE IS INEVITABLE. THREE DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS HAVE EXAMINED THE PROBLEM AND INDICATED NO REPAIR IS POSSIBLE - THIS IS THE WAY THE TRUCK IS SUPPOSED TO BE. I HAVE INSPECTED OTHER F-150S AND HAVE NOT DISCOVERED THE SAME SET-UP OR ISSUE. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WILL EVENTUALLY FAIL / WEAR THROUGH AND FORD INDICATES THIS IS NORMAL. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 18V894000 (ENGINE) AND 20V097000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. BOMMARITO FORD LOCATED AT (675 DUNN RD, HAZELWOOD, MO 63042) WAS CONTACTED AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE JERKED BACK AND FORTH AND DECELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH. THE ENGINE SEIZED AND THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD AND TAILPIPE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO EVERGREEN FORD LINCOLN (1500 18TH AVE NW, ISSAQUAH, WA 98027, 425-392-6900) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 772.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE STEERING WHEEL DRIFTED TO THE LEFT WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CASCO BAY FORD 1213 US 1, YARMOUTH, ME 4096, (207) 846-2222 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE OR DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TEST DRIVEN WITHOUT A RECURRENCE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE RECEIVED 3 FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND TIRE ROTATION HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 228.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING REGULARLY AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS, THE FLOORMAT MOVED OUT OF POSITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SEIZED DUE TO THE FLOORMAT BEING MOVED OUT OF POSITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HOOKS FOR THE FLOORMATS WERE INSUFFICIENT TO KEEP THE FLOORMATS IN POSITION. A DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH FROZE OPEN AND I COULD NOT CLOSE DOOR AGAIN. STATIONARY IN HOME DRIVEWAY.
2018 F 150 SUPER CREW, RIGHT FRONT DOOR WON'T LATCH SHUT: 12/11/2018 AFTER OPENING THE DOOR TO PUT THE KID'S BACKPACKS IN, I COULD NOT GET THE DOOR TO LATCH SHUT. I HAD TO RUN THE SEAT BELT THROUGH THE HANDLE IN THE DOOR PANEL TO KEEP THE DOOR SHUT ON THE WAY HOME. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IT HAS HAPPENED, ALSO HAPPENED 12/7/2018 AND 12/8/2018. ONCE HOME, I USED A SCREWDRIVER TO MOVE THE LATCHING MECHANISM IN THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES AND CONTINUOUSLY HIT THE LOCK AND UNLOCK BUTTON. EVENTUALLY THE MECHANISM WOULD FREE UP AND THE DOOR WOULD LATCH SHUT. THIS SCENARIO SEEMS IDENTICAL TO THE ISSUE COVERED UNDER FORD TSB 16-0155 FOR 2015-2017 F-150'S WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.
MY DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED WHEN TEMPS ARE BELOW FREEZING. ON ONE OCCASION MINE FROZE CLOSED. SEVERAL OTHER F150 OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THIS AS WELL DATING BACK TO THE 2015 MODEL YEAR.
DOOR LATCHES FAIL IN OPEN/CLOSED STATE WHEN TEMPERATURES DROP BELOW 32F. THOUGHT DOOR WAS SHUT WHEN RE-POSITIONING IN DRIVEWAY AND DOOR OPENED UNEXPECTEDLY BACKING UP. POSSIBILITY OF BEING LOCKING IN THE CAR DURING EMERGENCY OR EJECTED IF NOT WEARING SEAT BELT. FIXES FOR 2017/EARLY 2018 ARE IN MY JUNE 2018 BUILD AND VIN IS NOT ON RECALL LIST BUT I EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT RECALL RELATED FIXES WERE SUPPOSED TO SOLVE.
WHEN WE LEFT THE HOUSE, THE FIRST LEFT TURN, MY FRONT PASSENGER DOOR FLEW OPEN. MY DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH. AFTER LOOKING ON THE INTERNET THIS SEEMS TO BE A HUGE PROBLEM. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE I CAN NOT BELIEVE THERE IS NOT A RECALL FOR THIS. AT MY NIECE HOUSE IN NORTH CAROLINA 12-09-2018
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND CHANGING GEARS, A HIGH PITCHED WHINING SOUND WAS PRESENT. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING AND RELEASING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, A RATTLING SOUND WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE ENGINE. IN ADDITION, WATER LEAKED INTO THE CABIN DUE TO A FAULTY VENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HASSETT FORD (3530 SUNRISE HWY, WANTAGH, NY 11793), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60.
DOOR LATCH WAS FROZEN. I WAS UNABLE TO CLOSE MY DRIVERS DOOR. EXTREMELY UNSAFE TO OPERATE WITH A DOOR THAT WON'T LATCH CLOSE. HAPPENED TWICE THIS WEEKEND 12/7/18 AND 12/9/18.
THE DOOR LATCHES FREEZE MAKING THE DOORS DIFFICULT TO OPEN BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY YOU CAN'T GET THEM TO LATCH ONCE THEY'RE OPENED. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. FORD APPEARS TO BE AWARE OF THIS AND HAS ISSUED FIXES FOR PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS. THESE FIXES DO NOT WORK AND THE PROBLEM IS NOW WITH TRUCKS BUILT IN 2018.
COLD MORNING AND THE POWER DOOR LOCKS WOULD NOT UNLOCK WITH THE REMOTE OR THE KEY IN THE DRIVERS DOOR, AFTER CLIMBING IN THE BACK DOOR TO OPEN THE FRONT NEITHER THE REAR DOOR OR THE FRONT DOOR WOULD LATCH WHEN THE DOOR WAS CLOSED. EXTREMELY UNSAFE, COULD NOT DRIVE THE TRUCK TO WORK BECAUSE THE DOORS WOULD NOT LATCH SHUT.
VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH AUTO STOP START FEATURE. WHEN ENGINE SHUTS OFF THE ELECTRICALLY OPERATED POWER STEERING ALSO SHUTS OFF. RELEASING THE BRAKE PEDAL RESTARTS ENGINE BUT POWER STEERING DOES NOT RETURN FOR APPROXIMATELY 1-2 SECONDS. I'VE OWNED THIS TRUCK SINCE NEW. I CURRENTLY HAVE A LITTLE OVER 700 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THREE TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE I HAVE BEEN MAKING A LEFT TURN FROM A BUSY HIGHWAY ONTO A SECONDARY ROAD AND THE STOP START FEATURE HAS ENGAGED. I MAKE THE DECISION TO TURN AND GO BUT THE TRUCK HAS NO POWER STEERING AND I AM MOVING FORWARD. THE VEHICLE IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER WITHOUT POWER STEERING.THERE IS A BUTTON ON THE DASH TO DISABLE THE SYSTEM BUT THE DEFAULT IS TO TURN THE SYSTEM ON EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. I AM FEARFUL THAT IF MY WIFE OR OTHER PERSON NOT INTIMATELY FAMILIAR WITH HOW THE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO OPERATE WILL BE PUT AT EXTREME RISK. IN MY OPINION THIS IS AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE DESIGN AND SHOULD BE REMOVED OR REDESIGNED TO ENABLE THE POWER STEERING TO OPERATE ANY TIME THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION IN THE "ON" POSITION.
WHILE DRIVING OVER A RAILROAD CROSSING, MY TRUCK DIED. THE SCREEN ON THE DASH STATED THERE WAS AN ERROR WITH THE AUTO START/ STOP FEATURE. I HAD TO PUT MY TRUCK IN PARK TO RESTART IT WHILE STILL ON THE TRAIN TRACKS. I HAD THE AUTO START/ STOP DEACTIVATED AT THE TIME VIA THE BUTTON ABOVE THE SYNC 3 SCREEN.
THE DOOR LATCHES ON ALL (4) DOORS BECOME INOPERABLE WHEN TEMPS DROP BELOW 32 DEGREES. THIS HAS RESULTED IN NOT BEING ABLE TO ENTER OR EXIT THE VEHICLE AND HAVE DOORS POP OPEN ON THEIR OWN AFTER BEING SHUT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT COULD RESULT BEING STUCK INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND/OR POSSIBLY HAVING SOMEONE FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE IF DOOR WERE TO POP OPEN UNEXPECTEDLY.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED WHEN COLD OUTSIDE.
MODE OF FAILURE.: DOOR FROZEN SHUT, WILL NOT OPEN FROM OUTSIDE. IF ENTRY IS MADE FROM ANOTHER DOOR, AND FROZEN DOOR LOCK LATCH CAN BE OPENED FROM INSIDE DOOR HANDLE OR MANUALLY PULLING UP INSIDE DOOR LOCK, DOOR MAY OPEN, HOWEVER DOOR LATCH IS STILL FROZEN AND DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE, RENDERING VEHICLE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. ACTIVATING THE POWER DOOR LOCK MECHANISM, EITHER REMOTELY OR MANUALLY FROM INSIDE VEHICLE, CAN OFTEN RESULT IN INTERNAL DAMAGE TO DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY ON A FROZEN DOOR. IF DOOR HANDLES ARE FORCED, DOING SO ALSO CAN OFTEN RESULT IN INTERNAL DAMAGE TO DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY ON A FROZEN DOOR, RENDERING VEHICLE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. FROM RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE , THE PROBLEM EXISTS ON 2015- THRU 2018 F-150'S. FORD EFFORTS TO CORRECT THIS POOR DESIGN WITH NUMEROUS TSB'S Y& RECALLS SEEM TO BE NOT EFFECTIVE AS THE ISSUE IS STILL OCCURRING IN 2018 MODELS AND REPORTS INDICATE THE CORRECTIONS ARE INEFFECTIVE. DOOR LATCH IN COLD WEATHER FREEZES AND WILL NOT FUNCTION. ALSO LATCH POPS OPEN WHILE DRIVING.
IN COLD WEATHER, DOORS WILL NOT LATCH SHUT UNTIL VEHICLE IS WARMED UP. BOTH DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. DOOR MECHANISM(S) NEED TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. TRIED SPAYING LUBRICANT ON THE MECHANISMS TO NO AVAIL. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES IN ONE WEEK.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked abnormally while accelerating. The failure occurred while the transmission was changing gears. The contact stated that the failure was most noticeable while pulling out of the driveway after the initial start-up. The vehicle was previously included in a recall related to the transmission, and the vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure started after the recall repair was performed. The vehicle was returned to the dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that there were metal shavings found in the transmission fluid and that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED THE STOP/START TECHNOLOGY DISABLES THE ABILITY TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. WHEN IT'S TIME TO ACCELERATE AND TURN QUICKLY THE POWER STEERING DOES NOT BECOME AVAILABLE FOR FOR SOME TIME. I HAVE BEEN CLOSE TO CRASHING SEVERAL TIMES AND HIT A CURB ON ONE OCCASION AS A RESULT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO STEER. THE DEALER TOLD ME AT THE LAST VISIT THIS IS NORMAL BECAUSE OF THE STOP START TECHNOLOGY AND I JUST HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE POWER STEERING TO BECOME AVAILABLE WHEN THE ENGINE STARTS. THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE WHEN MAKING A TURN INTO TRAFFIC SINCE SOMETIMES THIS NEEDS TO BE A SIMULTANEOUS ACTION OF ACCELERATING AND TURNING AT THE SAME TIME.

4WD IWE SYSTEM IS FAILING, CAUSING HUBS AND 4WD SYSTEM TO PARTIALLY ENGAGE WHILE DRIVING. A LOUD RATTLING AND GRINDING NOISE CAN BE HEARD WHILE THIS IS HAPPENING.
MY TRUCK WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY IN BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES . THE NEXT MOURNING AFTER I UNLOCKED AND OPENED MY 2 DRIVER SIDE DOORS THE DOORS WOULD NOT LATCH BACK CLOSED. THERE IS AN ABNORMAL ENGINE "RATTLE" NOISE WHEN DECELERATING (LETTING OFF THROTTLE) BETWEEN 1000 AND 2000 RPMS. THIS HAS BEEN A FREQUENT COMPLAINT FROM 2018 FORD F-150 OWNERS WITH V8 5.0L ENGINES. RESPONSES FROM F150 OWNERS ON VARIOUS FORUMS ALL INDICATE VARIOUS EXPLANATIONS FROM FORD AS TO THE CAUSE FROM NORMAL ENGINE CHARACTERISTICS, REPLACING CAM PHASERS, REPLACING SOLENOIDS, AND BUYBACKS. A TSB WAS RELEASED IN NOVEMBER 2018 WITH NO KNOWN CASES ON ANY RELATED FORUMS OF THE TSB CORRECTING THE ABNORMAL ENGINE RATTLE NOISE. I HAVE HJAD THE TSB PERFORMED AND THE NOISE WAS CONTINUED TO BE PRESENT. THE CONCERN FROM MYSELF AND OTHER OWNERS IS THE UNKNOWN LONG TERM EFFECTS ON THE ENGINE PERFORMANCE AND/OR LIFE AND A CONTINUED LACK OF RESPONSE FROM FORD AS TO THE CAUSE OR RELEASE OF ANY FIXES. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE 1 WEEK AFTER PURCHASING THE TRUCK ON NOVEMBER 21, 2018.
DOORS FREEZE AND WON'T LATCH IN BELOW FREEZING WEATHER
WITH AUTO STOP/START DISABLED USING THE DASH CONTROL, THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WHILE MOVING ON A CITY STREET IN TRAFFIC DURING A SLOW-SPEED 90 RIGHT-HAND TURN. THE ON-DASH MESSAGE REFERENCED EITHER THE AUTO SHUTDOWN OR AUTO START/STOP FUNCTION STOPPING THE ENGINE AND INSTRUCTED THAT THE VEHICLE BE PLACED IN PARK TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE DID RESTART AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AND PLACING THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THEY REPORTED THAT NO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES WERE PRESENT IN THE SYSTEM AND THAT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE REPLICATED AFTER "SEVERAL" TEST DRIVES.
DAUGHTER DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME, PARKED IT, AND TURNED OFF VEHICLE. WHILE INSIDE THE RESIDENCE, DAUGHTER HEARD DOGS OUTSIDE BARKING. DAUGHTER WENT TO CHECK ON DOGS AND SAW THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND ENGINE WAS NOT ON. THE VEHICLE FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE VEHICLE FIRE ALSO BURNED A PART OF THE EXTERIOR OF THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY STILL AT THE RESIDENCE WHERE IT BURNED. I REQUEST THAT THIS VEHICLE BE INVESTIGATED BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT REASON FOR IT TO HAVE CAUGHT FIRE. IT WAS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY TYPE OF ACCIDENT.
IN COLD WEATHER THE DOOR LOCKS FREEZE. THE DOORS CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE OR INSIDE. ALSO IF THE DOOR HANDLE OPENS THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE THE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH AND STAY CLOSED. THE DOOR "BOUNCES" OFF THE DOOR FRAME.
10 SPEED TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE, WAS HOPEFUL IT WOULD RESOLVE ITSELF ONCE THE 5K MILE BREAK-IN PERIOD WAS SURPASSED. TRANSMISSION IS AWKWARD, CLUMSY AND SPENDS TOO MUCH TIME HUNTING BETWEEN GEAR SHIFTS. MY 2013 F150 WITH 105K MILES ON IT DRIVES NOTICEABLY SMOOTHER. FORD DEALER OK WITH NO REAL EXPLANATION FOR CUSTOMERS.
THE TRANSMISSION HAS SHIFTED HARD SINCE THE DAY I BROUGHT IT HOME. IT MOSTLY DOES THIS IN THE LOWER GEAR RANGE AND IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE WHEN IT WHEN I FIRST START THE VEHICLE. I AM NOT REVIVING THE ENGINE ANY HIGHER THAN 3000 RPM.
