WHENEVER THE TEMPERATURES DIP BELOW FREEZING, THE DOOR LATCHES ON THE F-150 FREEZE AND NO LONGER LATCH. THE COLDER IT GETS, THE WORSE THE LATCHES PERFORM. I AM FORCED TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCES WITH A COMPLETELY UNSECURED DOOR. IT HAS NEARLY CAUSED MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS, AS WHEN I MAKE A TURN THE DOOR FLIES OPEN NEARLY STRIKING NEARBY CARS. I WORK 20 MILES FROM HOME, AND HAVE DRIVEN 20 FULL MILES WITH AN UNSECURED DOOR EVEN AFTER HAVING MY TRUCK RUNNING FOR UPWARDS OF AN HOUR BEFORE I LEAVE THE HOUSE WITH THE HEAT ON HIGH. I HAVE BEEN LATE FOR WORK DUE TO MY INABILITY TO SECURE THE DOOR THAT MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IS SUPPOSED TO BE SECURED BY. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS NOT TAKING SERIOUSLY ENOUGH. I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK IN THE SHOP THREE TIMES NOW, AND THEY CAN'T SEEM TO GET IT RIGHT. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD DIRECTLY, THEY JUST KEEP PUSHING IT BACK ON THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP KEEPS WORKING ON IT, BUT THEY ARE SAYING THAT FORD HASN'T GIVEN THEM ANYTHING TO WORK WITH AS FAR AS FIXING IT. I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED THE BBB IN REGARDS TO THIS VEHICLE. BY ALL THE FORUMS ONLINE, AND COMPLAINTS I HAVE SEEN ABOUT THESE VEHICLES, I AM CLEARLY NOT THE ONLY PERSON. FORD KEEPS SELLING THESE VEHICLES, AND DOES NOT DISCLOSE THIS PROBLEM WITH ANY OF THE CONSUMERS. THEN WE ARE FORCED TO DRIVE UNSAFE VEHICLES WHILE PAYING A PREMIUM PRICE FOR THEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BEAU TOWNSEND FORD (1020 W NATIONAL RD, VANDALIA, OH 45377, (937) 898-5841) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
ANYTIME THE WEATHER IS BELOW FREEZING THE DRIVERS DOOR LATCH IS FROZEN SHUT. WHEN IT FINALLY OPENS AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS THEN IT WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED AGAIN. THIS IS APPARENTLY A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM THAT FORD REFUSES TO FIX. I'VE BEEN TO THE DEALER TWICE WITH NO REPAIR.
I HAVE HAD TWO RUN AWAY FULL ACCELERATIONS IN THIS NEW TRUCK. I ACCELERATED FIRMLY AND THE ACCELERATOR REFUSED TO DISENGAGE. AT OVER 90 MPHM I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, THE RPM INCREASED AND I SHUT OFF THE KEY. NEXT TIME IN THE SAME DRIVE IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND I IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF THE KEY. I WILL NOTIFY MY DEALER TOMORROW. I WILL NOT DRIVE IN THIS VEHICLE AGAIN. AS AN EXPERIENCED COMMERCIAL PILOT I HAVE BEEN TRAINED HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE BUT THE PUBLIC HAS NO CLUE WHAT TO DO.
WHILE DRIVING 60MPH UP A SLIGHT INCLINE ON THE INTERSTATE, THE TRUCK STOPPED DECELERATING. THE ENGINE RPMS JUMPED UP. FORTUNATELY I WAS IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE AND PULLED TO THE SHOULDER AND OUT OF TRAFFIC. I WAS ABLE TO REV THE RPMS AND NO ACCELERATION, WHILE THE GEAR INDICATOR CONTINUED TO READ "D." IT APPEARED THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF ALL GEARS. I COASTED TO A STOP AND APOLOGIZED TO MY FRIEND FOR THE LANGUAGE AS I WAS ON A HANDSFREE CALL. I PLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR IN PARK, NOTICED THAT THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ON THE DASH, AND SHUT OFF THE TRUCK. I PULLED OUT THE MANUAL AND TRIED TO THINK OF WHAT TO DO NEXT. FINDING NO SOLUTIONS, A FRIEND SUGGESTED BEFORE I CALL A TOW TRUCK, TO START IT UP AND TRY TO PUT IT IN DRIVE. I DID, AND IT WENT INTO GEAR NORMALLY. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN, HOWEVER IT HAS HAD A FEW UNUSUALLY AGGRESSIVE GEAR CHANGES. I DO NOT TRUST THIS TRUCK WITH THE COYOTE V-8 ENGINE AND 10-SPEED TRANSMISSION COMBINATION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED UNEVENLY IN THE FIRST THREE GEARS. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED INITIALLY, THE RPMS INCREASED AND DECREASED. THE CONTACT CALLED KOONS STERLING FORD (46869 HARRY BYRD HWY, STERLING, VA 20164, (703) 430-7700) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR A RECALL THAT WAS UNRELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.
MY TRUCK HAS 19600 MILES ON IT, SINCE LAST 2 DAYS THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN PRESSED WOULD GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHILE DRIVING, DOESN'T MATTER CITY OR HIGWAY. I HAVE DROPPED TO THE DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY, THEY ARE STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM
REAR WINDOW VISIBILITY WITHOUT DEFOGGER DEFROSTER. ALL CARS/TRUCKS SHOULD HAVE A REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER DEFROSTER. FORD SELLING VEHICLES WITHOUT AND IGNORING SAFETY ISSUES. DEALERSHIP SHOULD MAKE IT VERY CLEAR THAT THESE TRUCKS SELL WITH OR WITHOUT REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER/DEFROSTER AND ONLY COME AS AN OPTION. EVEN MY 1955 RENAULT HAD ONE. THANK YOU.
IN BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES, DRIVERS SIDE FRONT DOOR LATCH FAILS TO LOCK IN CLOSED POSITION WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED, ALLOWING DOOR TO OPEN FREELY WITHOUT USING DOOR HANDLE. THE ONLY WAY TO SECURE THE DOOR FOR TRANSIT IS TO EITHER HOLD IT CLOSED MANUALLY OR RUN A STRAP BETWEEN THE TWO INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES TO KEEP IT FROM FLYING OPEN. AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR A WHILE AND INTERIOR IS WARMED UP, LATCH BEGINS WORKING AS NORMAL.
IN PARK AND TRUCK ROLLS,AND THE TRANSMISSION IS SEVERLY SLIPPING,AND SMELLS LIKE GAS
ENGINE REVS UP ON IT OWN: WHEN DRIVING AT A SPEED ~ 10 MPH DOWN MY GRAVELED 600 FEET DRIVEWAY, THE ENGINE REVS UP, EXCEEDING 6000 RPM. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON 5 OCCASIONS, TWICE IN NOVEMBER AND THREE TIMES IN DECEMBER, LATEST BEING 12/24/2018. I HAD THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 5 MONTHS WITH 3300 MILES ON IT. I NOTED WHEN IT OCCURS, IT'S WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FIRST STARTED UP. THE REAR TIRES DIG IN AND START SPINNING, THROWING GRAVEL. PRESSING THE BRAKE AND COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP LOWER THE RPM AND SETTLE THE ENGINE DOWN. THIS COULD BE A ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN IN HIGHWAY OR BUSY CITY TRAFFIC. I'VE NOTED ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM, SEVERAL FORD F150 OWNERS HAVE THIS PROBLEM.

The vehicle was recently taken back to the dealer after the latest failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was no longer covered under warranty. The contact stated the cam phasers had been replaced four times under warranty. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number. The contact was also referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 20,422.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, there was a clunking sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact indicated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated, and no repair was performed. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,500.
WHILE COMING TO A STOP, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AND A MESSAGE DISPLAYED THAT THE ENGINE AUTO START/STOP FUNCTION WAS ENGAGED, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, AND RE-START ENGINE. THIS WAS WITH THE AUTO START/STOP FEATURE ALREADY DISENGAGED, WHICH I ALWAYS DO. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR YOUR ENGINE TO CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND HAVE TO STOP, PUT IT IN PARK, AND RE-START IT IN MOVING TRAFFIC. I HAVE READ MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM ON SEVERAL FORUMS. VEHICLE IS A 2018 FORD F150 XLT, 5.0 ENGINE, HAD ABOUT 4000 MILES ON IT.
ALL THE DOOR LATCHES FREEZE MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE DO OPEN THE DOOR THEN WHEN IT OPENS YOU CAN'T CLOSE THE DOORS.

There was an abnormal screeching and grinding noise detected. The contact stated while driving, the brakes engaged on the front wheels without warning. The vehicle was taken three times to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the solenoid and a recalibration were needed. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was returned to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact requested a buyback, but no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 9,900. Consumer stated vehicle has been sold.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RON LEWIS FORD (300 9TH AVE, BEAVER FALLS, PA), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500.
STEERING PULLS TO LEFT AND RIGHT STEERING WHEEL NEEDS CONSTANT INPUT TO DRIVE STRAIGHT THIS WILL OCCUR AT CITY OR HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON ANY ROAD CONDITIONS. RACK AND PINION HAS BEEN REPLACED AT 2900 MILES TRUCK HAD 2 ALIGNMENTS TIRE PRESSURE CHECKED DIFFERENT TIRES WERE TRIED BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. CALLED FORD NOV. 2018 MADE A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE PROBLEM THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER BUT HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM THEM. FORD NEEDS TO FIND A SOLUTION AND GET THE PROBLEM FIXED BEFORE SOMEBODY HAS TO DIE IN ONE.

THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE SHATTERED ONE MORE TIME AND THEN STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER CHAMPION FORD/LINCOLN (140 SOUTHTOWN BLVD, OWNSBORO, KY 42303) THEY DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 850. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I PURCHASED A USED 2018 F-150 WITH APPROXIMATELY 16,000 MILES ON 10/17/2018. WHEN IN MOTION, STEERING INTERMITTENTLY WANDERS, OFTEN DRIFTS OR PULLS LEFT AND RIGHT, AND REQUIRES A MORE THAN REASONABLE EFFORT TO KEEP IN LANE. ON FIRST TRIP TO THE DEALER FOR THIS PROBLEM (WEST HERR FORD IN HAMBURG, NY), WAS TOLD THAT ALIGNMENT WAS GOOD, AND MAYBE TIRES WERE BAD - THEY SWITCHED THE 2 FRONT TIRES, AND PROBLEM PERSISTED. WENT BACK TO WEST HERR FORD LESS THAN 3,000 MILES LATER FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, AND WAS TOLD ALIGNMENT WAS BARELY IN SPEC. THEY ALIGNED, AND CLAIMED TO HAVE ADDRESSED THE ISSUE. THE STEERING STILL INTERMITTENTLY PULLS, WANDERS, AND DANGEROUSLY FAILS TO TRAVEL STRAIGHT WITHOUT CONSTANT CORRECTION.
2,363 MILES ON THE TRUCK IT DOWNSHIFTED ON THE HWY FROM 80 MPH TO 20 MPH ON ITS OWN, WITH A LOUD NOISE. HAD TO GET IN THE SLOW LANE SO NOT TO HAVE A WRECK. IT IS EQUIPPED WITH AUTO START, WHERE THE TRUCK ENGINE AUTOMATICALLY STOPS AT A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT AND RESTARTS ON ITS OWN. THE TRUCKED SHUT ITSELF OFF WHILE IN TRAFFIC AND HAD TO BE PUT IN PARK AND RESTARTED, ALMOST CAUSING A WRECK. TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER AGAIN, WHEN IT MADE A LOUD NOISE AND FELT LIKE WE HIT SOMETHING WHEN GOING 55 MPH,THE TRUCK JOLTED WE AGAIN GOT IN THE SLOW LANE. THEN WHEN SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY THE MOTOR STARTED RACING ON ITS OWN NOT TOUCHING THE EXCELERATOR. HAD TO TURN OFF TRUCK. WE ARE AFRAID TO TAKE OUR GRANDKIDS IN OUR NEW 2018 TRUCK WE ARE PAYING DEARLY FOR. THE LAST TIME WE TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. WE ARE ABOUT TO RETIRE AND WANTED THIS TRUCK TO BE OUR LAST, WE HAVE NOT EVEN HAD IT A YEAR. WE HAVE DONE SOME CHECKING ONLINE, WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES EXPERIENCING THESE TYPES OF PROBLEMS.
I PURCHASED THE TRUCK NEW IN 2018. DURING THE PAST 20 MONTHS OR SO IT HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER AT LEAST 5 DIFFERENT TIMES FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THEY UPDATE THE SOFTWARE, CLEAR CODES AND THEN STATE THE VEHICLE WILL LEARN ITS PATTERNS AGAIN. NONE OF HAS HELPED. THE VEHICLE HAS A HARD SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE AND THEN IT DOES A CLUNKING NOISE WHEN IT SHIFTS THE FIRST 2 GEARS. ANOTHER ISSUE: AT TIMES, POSSIBLY AT LEAST 20 TIMES IN 20 MONTHS, THE VEHICLE WILL HESITATE AND GO INTO A DEAD SPOT FOR ABOUT 1-2 SECONDS AND THE REENGAGE, USUALLY AT SLOWER SPEEDS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN WE ARE MAKING A LEFT TURN. THE LAST ISSUE IS THAT THE VEHICLE AT TIMES IS GEAR SEARCHING AND VERY ERRATIC, SOMETIMES AT 36MPH THE RPMS ARE SO LOW IT MAKES A GROWLING NOISE. BY PUTTING THE TRANSMISSION ON SPORT MODE IT WILL KEEP THE RPMS UP AND MITIGATE THE PROBLEM. I THINK THE BIGGEST ISSUE WITH THIS TRUCK AND TRANSMISSION IS POSSIBLE THE SOFTWARE. THE TRANSMISSION NEVER FEELS TRULY COMFORTABLE ALWAYS DISPLAYING SOME TYPE OF DISCOMFORT OR PERHAPS RISK. WE LOVE THE TRUCK BUT FORD NEEDS TO TRULY STEP UP AND PROVIDE RELIEF TO THIS PROBLEM. MY CONCERN IS SAFETY AND THEN COST ONCE WE RUN OUT OF WARRANTY. THE TRUCK JUST TURNED 31K MILES AND STRONGLY CONSIDERING DISPLACING BEFORE IT HITS 36K. *TR

The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times and a diagnostic test was performed. However, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired, and the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,640.
ERRATIC SHIFTING, UNEXPLAINED TRANSMISSION HARD SHIFTS, PAUSES BETWEEN SHIFTS. VEHICLE WILL SURGE FORWARD AND BACKWARDS WHEN FIRST STARTED DURING COLD WEATHER (BELOW 30 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT). I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THIS COMPLAINT ONLY TO HEAR THAT FORD IS WORKING ON IT. THEY CLAIM TO TEST DRIVE THE VEHICLE BUT THE ODOMETER INDICATES THAT THE VEHICLE IS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN 2 TO 3 TENTHS OF A MILE.
WHEN IT RAINS OR WHEN I CLEAN MY WINDSHIELD. IT DOES NOT LEAVE A CLEAN VISION. AND I HAVE ALREADY CHANGED THE WIPER BLADES 4 TIMES. I HAVE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERS AND ONE OF THE SERVICE MANS HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH HIS NEW 2019 F150. I REALLY THINK THE WIND SHIELD NEEDS TO BE CHANGED OUT. I THOUGHT THEY WERE THE BLADES.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
THE BLIND SPOT MIRROWS HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY A 1/8 INCH LITE IN THE MIRROW. IT IS HARD TO SEE IF THE SUN / CITY LITES ARE SHINNING IN YOUR EYES. THIS IS THE ONLY MEANS OF SEEING A VEHICLE IN THE "BLIND SPOT", THIS IS DANGEROUS, I ONLY HAVE ONE EYE + BAD VISION, I HAVE HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS. THE BACK UP ALARM ONLY SOUNDS WHEN YOU ARE 24 INCHES OR LESS FROM AN OBJECT, IF IT SOUNDS AT ALL, THE FIRST MORNING I BACKED INTO AN OBJECT, IT NEVER GAVE A SOUND. I HAVE HAD ALARMS SINCE 2004, NO PROBLEMS. BLIND SPOT MIRROWS FOR MANY YEARS. A LOT OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, I HAVE BEEN WAITING OVER TWO WEEKS TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED. THE BLIND SPOT MIRROWS ARE A BIG SAFETY PROBLEM. MOVING & IN TRAFFIC.
DECELERATING TO A STOP, I APPLIED BRAKES WITH NORMAL PRESSURE BUT TRUCK DID NOT SLOW DOWN. BRAKE PEDAL FELT SOFT AND I HAD TO STAND ON IT VERY HARD TO STOP TRUCK. AFTER COMING TO A STOP AND RELEASING BRAKE PEDAL, BRAKE PEDAL AND BRAKE OPERATION FELT NORMAL AFTERWARDS. ROAD CONDITIONS WERE DRY ASPHALT.
I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE DASHBOARD PANEL OF MY FORD F150 2018. THIS VEHICLE HAS THE DASHBOARD PANEL BROKEN AND BUMP IN THE DUCTS OF FRONT DEFROST AREA. ALSO IN THE AIRBAG OF PASSENGER IS BUMP ON THE TOP. ALL MODELS OF 2015 TO 2018 HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. IS A DEFECT OF FABRICATION. I REPORT THIS ISSUE TO THE DEALER AND THEM GO TO REPLACE BECAUSE HAS WARRANTY. YOU CAN SEE THIS PROBLEM IF YOU SEE OUTSIDE ON THE GLASS FRONT OF YOUR TRUCK.
THIS TRUCK COMES STANDARD WITH AUTO START STOP TECHNOLOGY. WHEN THE AUTO STOP TURNS OFF THE ENGINE IT ALSO TURNS OFF THE POWER STEERING. WHEN YOU LET OFF THE BRAKE THE ENGINE STARTS AND THE POWER STEERING SHOULD START WORKING IMMEDIATELY. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE POWER STEERING HAS NOT COME BACK TO FULL ASSIST. IT TOOK 3-5 SECONDS TO START FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. IN MY CASE EACH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED I WAS STOPPED AND MAKING A LEFT ACROSS TRAFFIC. WHEN I ACCELERATED I DID NOT HAVE POWER STEERING TO MAKE THE TURN. I TOOK ALL MY STRENGTH TO MAKE THE TURN WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I AM NOW ABLE TO RECREATE THIS PROBLEM ON A CONSISTENT BASIS NOW. IF I APPLY PRESSURE TO THE WHEEL WHILE THE ENGINE IS OFF AND LET THE ENGINE START IT DOES NOT HAVE FULL POWER STEERING. IF I KEEP MY HANDS OFF THE WHEEL AND WAIT A SECOND BEFORE TRYING TO TURN THE WHEEL IT WORKS FINE. I BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALER TO ADDRESS IT AND THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL OPERATION. THAT DOES NOT SOUND RIGHT TO ME. THEY SUGGESTED TURNING OFF THE AUTO START STOP. THAT DEFAULTS TO ON EVERY TIME YOU START THE TRUCK. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I AM A BIG GUY AND IT TOOK ALL MY STRENGTH TO TURN. I DOUBT SMALLER PEOPLE WOULD BE ABLE TO HANDLE IT. I WILL NOT LET MY WIFE DRIVE THE TRUCK BECAUSE OF IT. THE TRUCK IS NEW. WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS, THE DRIVE-TRAIN OCCASIONALLY MAKES A VIOLENT 'CLUNK' AND ENTIRE VEHICLE WILL 'SHUDDER' WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT CONTACTED FORD'S HOTLINE FOR A TSB OR INSIGHT INTO THIS ISSUE BUT SAID THIS PROBLEM WAS UNKNOWN. RETURNING THE VEHICLE FOR A SECOND SERVICE APPOINTMENT OCT. 18TH, 2018 IN ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO DIAGNOSE AND CORRECT THIS ISSUE.
MY TRUCK OCCASIONALLY DOES NOT ACCELERATE FROM A STOP AT THE CORRECT SPEED. THE RPMS GO WAY UP BUT THE TRUCK BARELY MOVES. I DESCRIBED IT TO THE DEALER AS BEING IN 1/2 OF 1ST GEAR, BUT EVEN THEN IT DOES NOT FEEL TOTALLY CONNECTED BETWEEN ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. IT WAS MUCH WORSE DURING HOT WEATHER.

ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES AFTER THE WRECK THE INSIDE OF THE TRUCK WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. AT THAT TIME THE FIREMAN STATED THEY FELT THE AIRBAG ON THE DRIVERS SIDE HAD STARTED THE FIRE. UPON LOOKING AT THE TRUCK YESTERDAY, I COULD SEE THAT IT WAS REALLY THE SEAT BACK OF THE DRIVERS SEAT THAT BURNED THE MOST. AT THE TIME OF THE FIRE, THE TRUCK WAS NOT RUNNING AND WAS STILL SITTING IN THE SPOT IT CAME TO REST IN AFTER THE ACCIDENT.

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND PUT THE FIRE OUT AND STATED IT WAS CAUSED BY THE AIRBAG CATCHING ON FIRE. THE TRUCK WAS SITTING WHERE IT STOPPED AFTER THE WRECK. PURCHASED F150 IN MARCH 2018, FIRST OWNER OF VEHICLE. ON SEPTEMBER 14TH, 2018 THE VEHICLE, WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGH SPEED (~65 MPH) DID A KICK AND TOOK THE VEHICLE OUT OF CRUISE CONTROL. TURNED OFF VEHICLE, MESSAGE DISPLAY DISAPPEARED, NO OTHER WARNING LIGHTS. CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP AND SAID THEY HAVEN'T HEARD OF THIS ISSUE AND BRING IT IN IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. SEEMED THEY DIDN'T WANT TO DEAL WITH ME THEN. TODAY MAY 17TH, THE SAME INCIDENT AS THE FIRST ONE HAPPENED AGAIN AT THE SAME SPEEDS AND LOCATION ON MY DRIVE (HAVE ~1 HOUR COMMUTE). HOWEVER, WHEN I APPLIED MY BRAKES THERE WAS ~1-2 SECOND DELAY, FELT A HAD KICK AND GRIP OF THE BRAKES. IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF TRUCK. I WAS HEADED HOME FROM WORK AND MY TRUCK WAS STATIONARY STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT, AND THE AUTOMATIC ENGINE STOP WAS ACTIVE, WITH SYNC NETWORKED. A VEHICLE FROM BEHIND RAN INTO MY 3 WEEK OLD VEHICLE. THE ENGINE AUTOMATIC START-STOP SYNC STARTED, AND THE ENGINE RACED TO VERY HIGH RPMS. THROWING MY HEAD BACK INTO THE HEADREST AGAIN. I HAD TO PRESS REALLY HARD UPON THE BRAKES TO PREVENT MY VEHICLE FROM SLAMMING INTO THE CAR AHEAD OF ME. THIS TRUCK HAS A VERY CLUNKY TRANSMISSION. I HAVE TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER PURCHASE BUT THEY WERE NOT SUCCESSFUL TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS TRUCK FEELS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS IT SHIFTS VERY HARD AND CAUSES IT TO JERK SPORADICALLY. IT ALSO MAKES A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE SOMETIMES WHEN YOU START THE TRUCK AS THE TRUCK ENGAGES THE TRANSMISSION.
ON STRAIGHTAWAY, AND PARTICULARLY SIDES OF THE ROAD (NOT TO MENTION ON CURVES), THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT ALLOW THE DRIVER TO SAFELY SEE OBSTACLES IN OR ENTERING THE ROAD (WILDLIFE). A STANDARD SHOULD BE SET THAT INCREASES THE EFFECTIVENESS OF NIGHT DRIVING LIGHT IN BOTH LOW AND HIGH BEAM APPLICATIONS. LUCKILY BREAKING HAS BEEN IMPROVED AND IS PROBABLY A BIG REASON THIS ISSUE IN NOT BROUGHT FORWARD MORE OFTEN.

THE DEALERSHIPS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE AND HAVE TOLD ME THEY OPENED A "HOTLINE" CASE WITH FORD CORPORATE FOR ENGINEERING/TECHNICAL GUIDANCE. THE DEALERSHIPS HAVE CHECKED THE CAMPERS AND CASTERS ALONG WITH RE-PROGRAMMING THE SOFTWARE FOR THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE.

IT HAPPENS PRETTY MUCH EVERYDAY OR EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED.

B PILLAR MOLDING, SEAT BELT, FLOOR CARPET AND MOLDING WERE ALL MELTED AND DESTROYED. VEHICLE IS BEING REPAIRED AT THE MOMENT AND HOPE THIS LIFE THREATENING ISSUE IS ADDRESSED BY FORD. Within the first year the transmission and 4 wheel drive(4WD) appeared to be slipping and making a loud clunk when shifting from 2WD to 4WDA or 4W High. I took it to the dealer twice and they could not duplicate the problem even after I very specifically told them how to reproduce it. Approx. a year later the noise became louder and more frequent. The dealer could not duplicate it and told me, "...drive it until it breaks." The noise and slipping have continued and now are very prevalent in automatic shifting in almost every gear while in 2WH. I only have 26,200 very easy miles on the truck. The dealer's tech rode with me and I duplicated the noise and slipping. The tech said it was "normal" for the vacuum driven spindles in the front axel to make this noise as it goes from 2-4WD.
