VEHICLE STALLS WHENEVER COMING TO A STOP AFTER TOWING FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR. REQUIRES THE VEHICLE TO BE PLACED IN PARK TO RESTART, BUT WILL CONTINUE TO STALL OUT IMMEDIATELY. DANGEROUS AT INTERSECTIONS AND STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC. ALSO STALLS (WHEN TOWING) WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RESTART AFTER REFUELLING. ONLY WAY TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START WITHOUT STALLING IT TO KEEP THE GAS PEDAL PRESSED TO KEEP THE RPM ABOVE 1500; OR WAIT 10-15 MINS FOR ENGINE TO COOL. NO CHECK ENGINE/COMPUTER SYSTEM ERROR GIVEN AT ALL. ONLY STALLS WHEN VEHICLE HAS BEEN TOWING OVER A LONG DISTANCE. OCCURRED 20+ TIMES A DAY OVER THE COURSE OF TRAVELING ACROSS THE US AND CANADA IN JULY/AUGUST 2018. TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO FORD SERVICE CENTER IN LONGMONT, CO, BUT WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE WITH NO CODE. I AM SEEING MORE AND MORE REPORTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRING WITH 2018 FORD F-150 2.7L ECOBOOST MODELS. ON 8/11/2018 I WAS INVOLVE IN A REALLY BAD WITH MY NEW 2018 FORD F150 PLATINUM I WAS COMING HOME AN IT WAS RAINING ALL OF A SUDDEN THE PRECOLLISION SYSTEM THAT ALERTS ME STARTED ACTING UP I THEN APPLY BRAKES THAT WAS THE WORSE MISTAKE THE TRUCKS DID NOT BRAKE IT SLAM MY BRAKES SO HARD THAT MADE MY TRUCK FISH TALE OUT OF CONTROL THAT THREW ME TOWARDS A CONCRETE WALL AT SPEEDS 65 MILES THE WORSE THING IS THAT NOT ONE AIRBAG DEPLOYED THE ONLY AIRBAG THAT WENT OFF WAS THE REAR SEAT BELT SOME EXPERTS HAD SAID THAT MY TRUCK SHOULD HAVE NEVER ACTED THAT WAY UNLESS THERE IS SOME KIND OF MALFUNCTION I REACH OUT TO FORD BUT NO ANSWER AS OF NOW
AFTER I WAS REAR ENDED MY 2018 F150 STARTED SMOKING AND CAUGHT FIRE AT THE BASE OF THE POST BESIDE THE DRIVER SEAT WHERE THE CARPET AND PLASTIC SIDE COVER COME TOGETHER. THIS HAPPENED WITHIN 10 MINUTES OF THE CRASH. I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH ON A 65 MPH 4 LANE, SLOWING DUE TO TRAFFIC CONGESTION WHEN I WAS REAR ENDED BY A 2007 CHEVY PICKUP TRAVELLING AT ABOUT 60 MPH. HITTING MY TRUCK HARD ENOUGH TO LIFT THE FRONT END AND LAND ON THE 4 FOOT HIGHWAY BARRIER IN THE FRONT, MY TRUCK CONTINUED AND THEN STUCK THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME WITH MY PASSENGER DOOR CAUSING THE REAR OF THE TRUCK TO ALSO LAND ON THE CONCRETE BARRIER. I WAS HELPED FROM THE TRUCK THRU THE RIGHT SIDE BACK DOOR BY THE DRIVER OF THE TRUCK MY VEHICLE IMPACTED. OFFICER WAS ON SITE IN ABOUT 3 MINUTES AND WANTED TO MOVE MY TRUCK FIRST, HE ASKED IF I HAD ANYTHING I NEEDED OUT OF THE VEHICLE. TROOPER AND I WENT TO GET MY BELONGINGS WHEN WE NOTICED THE SMOKE IN THE CAB. I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET ANYTHING FROM THE TRUCK BECAUSE THE FIRE STARTED AND SPREAD QUICKLY. FIRE WAS ONLY ON THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE.
THE DRIVER SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR HAS A DOUBLE IMAGE. THIS MAKES NIGHT DRIVING AND IDENTIFYING OBJECT IN THE MIRROR MORE DIFFICULT. IT DUPLICATES HEADLIGHTS WHICH AT NIGHT CREATES MORE LIGHT IN THE DRIVERS FACE MAKING IT MORE DIFFICULT TO SEE THE ROAD. THE MIRROR HAS BEEN THIS WAY SINCE IT WAS TEST DRIVEN THE DRIVE TRAIN ISSUE, AT 7,000 MILES THE TRUCK HAS DEVELOPED A WHINING SOUND WHILE ACCELERATING THE DEALER BELIES THIS IS THE PINION BEARING.
10-SPEED TRANSMISSION: THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY BADLY. JERKY SHIFTING AND OFTEN TIMES THE TRUCK IS SLUGGISH WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP, OFTEN TIMES TO THE POINT OF ACTING LIKE THE ENGINE IS ABOUT TO DIE. THE ONLY WAY TO PARTIALLY CORRECT THIS ISSUES IS TO DRIVE AGGRESSIVELY AND TAKE OFF FROM A START WITH MORE THROTTLE THAN ONE WOULD NORMALLY WANT TO. OCCASIONALLY YOU CAN HEAR/FEEL A KNOCK FROM UNDER THE TRUCK - UNDERNEATH THE DRIVER'S SEAT WHEN YOU START THE TRUCK AND PLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE. OTHER TIMES WHEN YOU START THE TRUCK AND QUICKLY PLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE THE ENGINE WILL CUT OFF ALL WHILE YOUR RIGHT FOOT IS STILL ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. ON ONE OCCASION WHILE I WAS DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION ON A HIGHWAY AT A SLOW SPEED (3 - 5 MPH?) BEHIND A CAR WHICH MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN, I STARTED ACCELERATING AND A VERY LOUD BANG NOISE OCCURRED THAT SOUNDED LIKE TWO CARS HITTING ONE ANOTHER AND A HARD SHAKE WAS FELT. I CHECKED MY MIRRORS BECAUSE I THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD REAR-ENDED ME. JUST THIS TERRIBLE 10-SPEED TRANSMISSION. ALL OF WHAT I HAVE DESCRIBED IS AFTER TAKING THE TRUCK TO 2 DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS. ALL THEY HAVE DONE SO FAR IS TO RE-INSTALL SOFTWARE. I PLAN TO TAKE IT BACK TO A DEALERSHIP FOR THE THIRD TIME HOPING THAT MAYBE SOMEONE MIGHT TEST DRIVE IT AND ACTUALLY DROP THE TRANSMISSION OIL PAN AND ACTUALLY LOOK AT THE TRANSMISSION. MAYBE IF I AM LUCKY THE TRANSMISSION WILL SELF-DESTRUCT.
DRIVING ON ROAD WITH NOBODY AROUND, REAR SIDE WINDOW JUST EXPLODED SENDING GLASS SHARDS EVERYWHERE IN CAB.
HAD A CLUNKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING AND STEERING FELT LOOSE AND WANDERED AT TIMES ALWAYS IN MOTOION. DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED AS LOOSE CONTROL ARM BOLTS PARTS AND TIGHTENED. CAME LOOSE A WHILE AFTER AND COMPLAINED AGAIN, SAID HAD TO ORDER PARTS. CAME BACK WRONG PARTS. CAME BACK NO TIME TO WORK ON VEHICLE. WENT TO ANOTHER DEALER. DIAGNOSED, ORDERED PARTS, FIXED VEHICLE AND NOW IM BEING TOLD THE FAULTY PARTS AT 12,300 MILES ON A 12 MONTH OLD VEHICLE ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY? THE FIRST DEALER NEVER REPORTED THE PROBLEM. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION.
THE TRUCK HAS ACCELERATION PROBLEMS.. ITS KNOWN AS THE DEAD PEDAL.. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO FORD TWICE. THEY TELL ME ALL THE TRUCKS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. IM AFRAID THAT IT GOING TO CAUSE A ACCIDENT. MY WIFE WILL NOT DRIVE THE TRUCK BECAUSE OF THIS..
DRIVING AT SPEED, PUSH ON ACCELERATOR TO PASS OTHER VEHICLES OR ENTER HIGHWAY FROM ONRAMP, TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS SO HARD WITH A LOUD CLUNK THAT TIRES LOSE TRACTION AND IT FEELS LIKE MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN STRUCK. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE TRUCK WAS NEW. THE DEALER HAS REPROGRAMMED THE PCM PER RECALL 182274A, BUT THE REPROGRAMMING HAS NOT FIXED THE ISSUE. IF ANYTHING, IT HAS BEEN WORSE AND HAPPENS MORE FREQUENTLY THAN BEFORE THE REPROGRAMMING.
JUNE 21, 2018 WE WERE DRIVING DOWN HWY 1 BYPASS IN FORREST CITY, AR AND WERE HIT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, PASSENGER DOOR AND GAS TANK AREA. THE TRUCK TOOK THE IMPACT WELL AND WE SPUN 180 DEGREES TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE SIDE AND CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT WERE UNHARMED, INCLUDING THE ONE WHOSE DOOR TOOK MOST OF THE IMPACT. MY HIP WAS INJURED FROM THE AIR BAG THAT DEPLOYED FROM THE BACK OF MY SEAT. AS I WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE ACCIDENT CALLING 911, THE SEAT BEGAN SMOKING. I TRIED TO EXIT OUT OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AND IT WAS JAMMED. SMOKE CONTINUED TO GET THICKER AND SMELLED LIKE AN ELECTRICAL/PLASTIC BURNING SMELL. I THEN HAD TO CRAWL OVER THE CENTER CONSOLE AND EXIT THROUGH THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. AT THAT POINT, THICK BLACK SMOKE WAS COMING FROM MY SEAT AND THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CAB BEGAN TO BURN. THE ACTUAL IMPACT DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT HAVE TOTALED IT OUT, BUT THE FIRE, SMOKE, AND WATER DAMAGE FROM THE FIRE BEING PUT OUT, DID. I HAVE ALSO FILED A CASE WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY, AS I BELIEVE THIS WAS A MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE. HAD WE NOT BEEN ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, MY ENTIRE FAMILY WOULD HAVE DIED FROM THIS FIRE, NOT THE IMPACT OF THE ACCIDENT. FROM OBSERVATIONS FROM THE POLICE, FIRE DEPARTMENT, WRECKER SERVICE, AND MY HUSBAND WHO IS A MECHANIC, THEY BELIEVE THAT THE FIRE WAS IGNITED WHEN THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. I DID HAVE HEATED SEATS, AND THE VEHICLE WAS CLEARLY ON WHEN I WAS HIT AND THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED.
MY TRUCK HAS THE 2.7 ENGINE. WHILE TOWING OUR TRAILER LONGER DISTANCES THE TRUCK WILL STALL WHILE EXITING THE HIGHWAY OR STOPPING FOR FUEL. IT WILL NOT RESTART WITHOUT PRESSING ON THE GAS AND DROPPING IT INTO DRIVE. ITS VERY UNSAFE BECAUSE YOU MIGHT BE IN A INTERSECTION AND CANNOT STEER IT BECAUSE OF THE ELECTRIC STEERING. THIS HAS BEEN A ONGOING ISSUE SINCEE IT WAS NEW AND THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. ITS TO THE POINT THAT I DONT FEEL SAFE TOWING WITH THIS TRUCK ESPECIALLY WITH MY FAMILY IN IT.
THE DASH OVER THE PASSENGER FRONT AIR BAG IS BULGING / WARPING UPWARDS. THE DASH IS ALSO SEVERELY WARPING OVER BOTH DEFROSTER DUCTS. YESTERDAY IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO START THE WARRANTY REPAIR PROCEDURE. TODAY THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED AND TOLD ME THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS A TSB THAT STATES THAT FORD NO LONGER AUTHORIZES ANY REPAIR ATTEMPTS FOR THIS PROBLEM ON 2015 - 2018 F-150'S FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE 2015 AND INITIALLY JUST KEPT REPLACING THE DASH PANEL AND THE REPLACEMENTS WOULD FAIL AND THEY KEPT REPLACING THEM... THEY NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM AND NOW THEY REFUSE TO EVEN WORK ON IT. I CAN SUPPLY YOU WITH A LINK TO A THREAD ON THE F-150 FORUM WHERE THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN DISCUSSED FROM 2015 TILL NOW WITH HUNDEREDS OF OWNERS POSTING ABOUT HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. WILL THE AIR BAG EVEN WORK ? WILL THE DEFORMED DASH CAUSE THE AIR BAG TO EXIT A DIFFERENT DIRECTION THAN DESIGNED ? THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT FOR 4 YEARS. I (AND MANY OTHERS IN THAT FORUM THREAD) HAVE INSPECTED NEW UNSOLD F-150 TRUCKS ON DEALERS LOTS AND ALMOST ALL SHOW THIS SAME DASH WARPAGE STARTING. I HAVE PUT ONLY 300 MILES ON MY NEW TRUCK AND FORD IS REFUSING TO HONOR THE WARRANTY BY REFUSING TO EVEN WORK ON THIS ISSUE. I HAVE ZERO CONFIDENCE IN THAT AIR BAG FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED WHEN ITS CONTAINER / COVER IS NO LONGER EVEN SHAPED AS DESIGNED.
SAME ISSUES I'M READING HERE. VEHICLE FREQUENTLY MAKES A LOUD BANG WHEN STARTED. SHIFTS GEARS EXTREMELY ROUGH TO THE POINT WHERE YOU'RE JERKED AROUND. NO POWER WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN CARS ARE BEHIND YOU OR TRYING TO ACCELERATE MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN TO DEALER TWICE NOW. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS BECAUSE MY FUEL INJECTOR WENT OUT AT 4,500 MILES! IT DOESN'T RUN MUCH BETTER NOW. WHEN I TOOK IT IN THEY JUST BLEW ME OFF AND SAID IT WAS 'NORMAL BEHAVIOR FOR THE VEHICLE'. READING ALL THESE ISSUES HERE, FORD REALLY NEEDS TO TAKE ACTION! EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!
DRIVING HOME A DEER RAN INTO DRIVER SIDE OF VEHICLE CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE AND SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. PULLED OVER AND VEHICLE CALLED 911. AFTER INSPECTING VEHICLE AND WITNESSES FROM ACROSS THE ROAD MADE SURE WE WERE SAFE, IT WAS DETERMINED THE VEHICLE COULD BE DRIVEN. THIS TOOK ABOUT 5 TO 10 MINUTES. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE PASSENGER WENT TO REMOVE A PURSE FROM THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE SEAT AND NOTICED A FIRE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE POST BETWEEN THE FRONT AND REAR DOOR AND WHERE SEAT BELT RESTRAINT IS LOCATED. IMMEDIATE EVACUATION WAS NEEDED AND A SECOND 911 CALL WAS PLACED. THE TRUCK WENT UP IN COMPLETE FLAMES IN A MATTER OF MINUTES AND IS A COMPLETE LOSS.
TRUCK DOWNSHIFTS VERY ERRATICALLY AND HARSH FROM 6TH TO 5TH GEAR WHILE BRAKING, CAUSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO BE PUSHED DOWN AT VARIOUS PRESSURES DUE TO THE TRUCK LUNGING FORWARD BECAUSE OF THE ERRATIC AND HARSH DOWNSHIFT FROM 6TH TO 5TH GEAR. TRUCK DOES NOT FEEL SAFE, THE DOWNSHIFT IS SO ERRATIC AND HARSH THAT IT FEELS AS IF YOU ARE BEING REAR ENDED. I HAVE ALLOWED TIME FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO "LEARN" AS STATED IN THE MANUAL BUT IT HAS NOT CHANGED.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION APPROXIMATELY ONE QUART PER 1000-1500 MILES
WITHIN 30 DAYS OF PURCHASE & APPROX. 1,000 MILES ON VEHICLE, THE FRONT END OF THE FUEL TANK DROPPED OUT OF TRUCK WHILE IN MOTION AT APPROX. 20 MPH ON MULTI-LANE SUBURBAN STREET. VEHICLE HAD BEEN FILLED WITH FUEL A FEW MINUTES PRIOR. DRIVER STOPPED AND TURNED OFF VEHICLE IN RIGHT LANE SHORTLY AFTER HEARING DRAGGING NOISE. HOLES IN TANK CAUSED FUEL TO POUR OUT AND COLLECT ON ROAD. FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE RESPONDED TO NEUTRALIZE FUEL SPILL. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER DETERMINED FUEL TANK STRAP BROKE, REPLACED FUEL TANK, STRAP AND SEAL UNDER WARRANTY. VEHICLE OWNER SENT LETTER TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY, AWAITING RESPONSE. VEHICLE OWNER WORRIED ABOUT INTEGRITY OF VEHICLE AND/OR REPEAT ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH IN THE RAIN, THE DRIVER HIT A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD AND LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE TRACTION CONTROL FAILED TO ENGAGE AND THE VEHICLE FISHTAILED AND SPUN OUT OF CONTROL. THE DRIVER WAS FINALLY ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE BEFORE STRIKING A METAL POLE ON THE ROAD SHOULDER. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MCCLARY FORD INC. (1104 HIGHWAY 72 EAST, ATHENS, AL 35611, (256) 232-4242), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED AND NO FAILURE CODES WERE FOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,600.
THE TRUCK HAD BEEN PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND I WENT OUT TO GET SOMETHING OUT OF IT. I CLOSED THE DRIVER DOOR LIKE NORMAL AND THE REAR WINDOW BLEW OUT UPON CLOSING. THE AMBIENT AIR WAS PROBABLY 72 DEGREES AND IT WAS AROUND 8PM. THE TRUCKS INTERIOR WAS THE SAME AS AMBIENT TEMPERATURE. FURTHERMORE, IT DOES NOT HAVE A REAR DEFROSTER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. WHILE WALKING TOWARDS THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. THE DEALER (AL PACKERS WHITE MARSH FORD, 9801 PULASKI HWY, MIDDLE RIVER, MD 21220) STATED THAT THEY HAD NO RECOLLECTION OF ANY VEHICLES HAVING THAT TYPE OF FAILURE; THEREFORE, THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE CONTACT SEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRING WITHOUT WARNING. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
From the summer of the first year of purchasing the new vehicle on April 4, 2018, due to the very foul smell of urine when the air conditioner was operated, diagnosis and repairs were requested to more than 4 dealers in New York City, but only the opinion was presented that there was nothing wrong except for cleaning methods, and every summer I constantly asked other dealers for diagnosis and repair, but it didn't work. However, I have continuously commissioned the dealer every year to solve this problem, and the dealer of the current ford lincoln of queen said that if the warranty repair is not possible, the owner must pay the cost to do the work, and the warranty repair that I have part, but they are due to the borrower's faulty use No warranty repairs due to Since there has been a problem since the first year of purchasing the vehicle, I have continued to request repairs until now, but they have ignored them and dealt with things in a disrespectful and formal way, causing mental and physical pain up to this point. My warranty repair insurance is until April 2025 Since there was a problem with it from the time I bought the new vehicle, I continuously requested repairs every year to the present. In other words, they are demanding repair costs with the excuse of consumer responsibility and negligence now that they have secondary functions.
ENGINE MAKES A VERY LOUD CLICKING AND RATCHETING SOUND AFTER EVERY THROTTLE LIFT FOR THE FIRST 15MIN OF ENGINE OPERATION. I DID NOT HEAR IT UNTIL THE FORD DEALERSHIP WORKED ON THE INTAKE SYSTEM FOR THE STUMBLING AND HESITATION ISSUES. IT CAN BE HEAR OVER 300 FEET AWAY. MY NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS ALL ASK WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY NEW TRUCK. I SUSPECT THE ENGINE VIBRATION ISSUE IS RELATED TO THIS VERY LOUD INTAKE NOISE.

THE IMPACT TURNED THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE 90 DEGREES. ONLY THE SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. WITHIN MINUTES, THE OTHER DRIVER NOTICED FLAMES INSIDE THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT ON MAY 22, 2018, A 2018 FORD SUPER DUTY WAS BEHIND ME. THE FRONT LIGHTS WERE SUPER BRIGHT, TOO MUCH AND DISTRACTING. I FLIPPED MY REARVIEW MIRROR TO REDUCE THE GLARE BUT, COME ON, IT DIDN'T REALLY HELP. SIDE MIRRORS DON'T DIM, DO THEY? DURING A HEAD ON COLLISION THE AIRBAGS ATTEMPTED TO DEPLOY THOUGH DID NOT, INSTEAD THE DRIVERS PILLAR AIRBAG SYSTEM CAUGHT FIRE, MELTING THROUGH THE SEATBELT SENDING FLAMES UP THE SIDE OF THE DRIVERS SEAT, WHICH PREVENTED THE FUEL DISCONNECT SYSTEM FROM ENGAGING AS WELL IT DID NOT DIAL 911 FROM THE CONNECTED PHONE AS IT SHOULD HAVE AFTER THE CRASH.
BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW AUGUST 28, 2018 AT 6000 MILES THE TRUCK CONSUMED 3 1/2 QUARTS OF OIL YES THAT'S 6000 MILES SINCE THEN THE TRUCKS HAD AN EXCESSIVE OIL USAGE STILL HASN'T BEEN FIXED 15 MONTHS LATER IT'S BURNED OVER 2 GALLONS OF OIL AND 26,000 MILES FORD REPLACE THE ENGINE AND IT'S BURNING MORE OIL NOW THAN IT EVER HAS IT BURNED 2 QUARTS OF OIL IN 1500 MILES

ANY TRAILER EXCEEDING 3000 LBS GVWR NEEDS TRAILER BRAKES AND TOW MIRRORS. HAD TO HAVE THEM INSTALLED. SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE MANUFACTURERS JOB TO MAKE TOWING SAFE FOR THE AVERAGE DRIVER TO MAKE LANE CHANGES, MAKE TURNS OR BRAKE SAFELY. 6600 LB TOW PACKAGE IS MISLEADING AND UNSAFE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC'S SAFETY!
THIS ISSUE PERTAINS TO THE 10-SPEED TRANSMISSION THAT OCCASIONALLY LOCKS UP THE REAR WHEELS. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED TO ME, THE TRUCK HAD LESS THAN 500MILES ON IT. I HAD EXITED THE INTERSTATE AND WAS APPROACHING A LIGHT ON A DOWNHILL GRADE. I DECELERATED FOR THE TURN, THEN STARTED TO ACCELERATE, BUT DECIDED I WAS TOO LATE FOR THE LIGHT AND STARTED TO LIGHTLY BRAKE AGAIN. AT THAT TIME, THE REAR WHEELS LOCKED UP, MAKE A SCREECHING SOUND, AND THE TRUCK SUDDENLY DECELERATED SO HARD THAT IT LOCKED MY SEATBELT. I IMMEDIATELY LOOKED IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR TO SEE WHAT KIND OF TRUCK HAD JUST HIT ME FROM BEHIND. TO MY SURPRISE, NO VEHICLE BEHIND ME. I WAS ON MY WAY (5MIN) TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR THE TRANSMISSION CABLE RECALL AND WE DISCUSSED THIS ISSUE. COULD IT BE RELATED TO THE CABLE RECALL? THE DEALERSHIP SAID MY CABLE CLIP WAS FINE AND RECALL DID NOT APPLY. THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT FIX IT UNLESS A CHECK ENGINE/CHECK TRANSMISSION LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. NONE WAS ILLUMINATED, SO THEY SENT ME ON MY WAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN 10MONTHS (9900MILES). EACH TIME HAS THE SAME SLIGHT DOWN SLOPE WHEN SHIFTING EITHER UP OR DOWN. SCARES THE HELL OF OF ME EVERY TIME, LET ALONE THE DAMAGE IT IS DOING TO THE DRIVETRAIN, TIRES, AND ENGINE. NEW TRUCKS SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. IF IT HAPPENED ON A WET ROAD OR SNOW/ICE CONTAMINATED, I'M SURE IT WOULD CAUSE A WRECK OR WORSE.

THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND WHEN THE PASSENGER DOOR IS UNLOCKED WITH THE KEY FOB THE TAILGATE FAILS DOWN. WHEN THE DRIVER EXITS THE VEHICLE THE TAILGATE FALLS DOWN. BY FALLS DOWN I MEAN THE TAILGATE ON THE PICKUP IS CLOSED AND IN THE VERTICAL POSITION AND THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN THE TAILGATE IS WITH THE KEY FOB. THE TAILGATE FOB IS DEPRESSED AND THE TAILGATE OPENS (FALLS DOWN) AUTOMATICALLY. ONLY THE TAILGATE CONTROLS ARE INCORRECTLY OPENING THE TAILGATE WHEN THE PASSENGER DOOR IS OPENED WITH THE KEY FOB OR WHEN YOU GET IN THE BACK DOORS. ALSO AFTER DRIVING THE TRUCK WHEN OPENING THE DRIVERS DOOR THE TAILGATE DROPS DOWN. IF A CHILD OR ADULT HAPPENS TO BE BEHIND THE TRUCK THE CAN GET HURT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING NORMALLY DUE TO THE CLUTCH PLATE PRESSURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DASH PANEL IS WARPING ON THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDES AT THE TOP IN THE AREA OF THE DEFROSTER DUCTS. THIS APPEARS TO BE DIVERTING THE AIR FROM THE DEFROSTER OUTLETS AND CAUSING A REDUCED EFFECIENCY OF THE DEFROSTER SYSTEM.
MY 2018 FORD F150 XLT V8 WITH 10-SPEED TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP AFTER IDLING. THE START/STOP FUNCTION IS ALWAYS DISABLED WHEN I DRIVE. THE TRUCK HESITATES AND STUMBLES UPON LIGHT ACCELERATION. ONE TIME IT CONTINUED FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE QUITTING COMPLETELY. IT MAKES ME REALLY NERVOUS WHEN I AM PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AS I FEEL IT MAY HESITATE. I GIVE PLENTY ROOM TO TRAFFIC AND EXPECT IT TO STUMBLE SO THAT I DO NOT GET INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND HAVE IT QUIT. I'VE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE THAT I HAD TO SUBSTANTIALLY CHANGE MY DRIVING BEHAVIOR TO ADAPT TO ITS MANY FAULTS. DANGEROUS TRUCK.
TRANSMISSION SHIFTINGS FROM 10TH SPEED TO 1ST GEAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS CAUSING CONTROL OF VEHICLE
THIS ISSUE IS HAPPENING WIDESPEAD AMONGST OWNERS OF FORD'S NEW 3.5L HIGH OUTPUT POWERTRAIN. UPON OPEN THROTTLE, THE ENGINE WILL INSTANTLY DROP OFF ALL POWER, CAUSING THE TRUCK TO DANGEROUSLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY DROP TO ZERO MILES PER HOUR. VERY DANGEROUS AND LIFE THREATENING WHILE ENTERING ROADWAYS OR INTERSTATE ROADS WITH TRAFFIC. UPON OPEN THROTTLE, A "LOW OIL PRESSURE" LIGHT TAKES OVER THE VIEWING AREA ON THE DASH CLUSTER AND THEN DISAPPEARS AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. UPON RESTARTING, THE TRUCK WILL FAIL AND PROVIDE A "LOW OIL PRESSURE" SIGNAL AGAIN AFTER APPLYING OPEN THROTTLE. THIS CAN HAPPEN WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A DEAD STOP OR UNDER CRUISING SPEEDS, WHEN OPEN THROTTLE IS APPLIED, THE ENGINE FAILS AND CUTS OFF ALL POWER. IT DOESNT MATTER IF YOU ARE TURNING OR GOING STRAIGHT, THE ISSUE HAPPENS REGARDLESS. ALWAYS HAPPENS UNDER OPEN THROTTLE. THIS HAS BECOME A WIDESPEAD ISSUE WITH OWNERS OF THE TRUCK FROM MODEL YEAR 2017-2018. FORD NEEDS TO RESPOND AND FIX THIS ISSUE FOR THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS.
THE 2018 F-150 TRUCK WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW AND AFTER APPROXIMATELY 800 MILES THE TRUCK'S STEERING STARTED TO PULL TO THE LEFT AND THEN TO THE RIGHT. THE DIRECTION OF STEERING PULL SEEMS TO SWITCH DEPENDING ON THE LAST TURN MADE OR THE DIRECTION OF THE TRUCKS BODY ROLL, BUT ALSO CHANGES DIRECTION RANDOMLY. THE STEERING WHEEL NEEDS CONSTANT INPUT FROM THE DRIVER IN ORDER TO DRIVE STRAIGHT OR ELSE THE TRUCK WILL BE IN THE OTHER LANE OR OFF THE ROAD. THIS ISSUE HAPPENS ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS OF 65 MPH AND ALSO ON LOCAL ROADS AT SPEEDS OF 25 MPH. THE ROAD COULD BE STRAIGHT OR CURVED AND THE STEERING WILL CONSTANTLY PULL THE VEHICLE LEFT OR RIGHT AND SEEMS TO PERIODICALLY SWITCH DIRECTIONS. FORD MOTOR CO. HAS BEEN NOTICED MULTIPLE TIMES AND REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE. THREE DIFFERENT CERTIFIED FORD TECH, AT TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS, HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE AND SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER WILL NOT ADMIT THERE IS AN ISSUE OR EVEN ATTEMPT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. FORD MOTOR CO. CLAIMS ALL OF THEIR 2018 F-150 DRIVE THIS WAY. THEIR ADVICE TO ME WAS "KEEP YOUR HANDS ON THE WHEEL AND THE TRUCK WILL GO STRAIGHT". OF COURSE IF DRIVER FIGHTS THE STEERING WHEEL PULLING LEFT AND RIGHT CONSTANTLY, THE TRUCK WILL GO STRAIGHT. THE DRIVER OBVIOUSLY WILL TRY TO KEEP THE TRUCK IN IT'S LANE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. IF WHAT FORD MOTOR CO. CLAIMS IS TRUE, THAT ALL THEIR 2018 F-150 DRIVE THIS WAY, THEN THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. FORD MOTOR CO. SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED WITH HOW THE COMPANY TREATS THEIR CUSTOMERS AND ALSO SHOULD BE CONCERNED WITH HAZZARDOUS VEHICLES THEY ARE PUTTING ON THE ROADS. BUYER BE AWARE!
