I have a 2019 f150 5.0v8 with 10 speed trans. On 10/23/2023 my rear axle was replaced and mew engine was ordered on 11/13/2023. Had issues with my engine and the dealer replaced the engine around 80k miles on 4/18/2024. I was also having issues with my transmission having hard shifts and clunking or jumping gears. I took my truck to the dealer with the extended warranty back in OCT of 2024, dealer checked it and I was told it needed an update or reprogramming of the transmission , the reprogramming was not covered by ext warranty so I paid out of pocket. 6 months later In april I took it back in as the transmission was still having the same issues. The dealer did another reprogramming and was told the fluid was low and I again paid out of pocket. Took the truck home and it had the same issues again. Called dealer over and over to get my truck in and was told to wait over and over until they could get a loaner vehicle. After multiple text messages and complaints to them they finally had a loaner for me. This time I had video evidence of my truck downshifting gears on the freeway and loss of acceleration and trans temp overheating with error code popping up. Took the truck in again and sent them the video. After a week I was told my truck is ready and nothing wrong with the transmission just had too much fluid. The truck continues to have transmission issues and seems like the dealer is just pushing me along until my ext warranty expires. The dealership is Suburban Ford in Sterling heights Michigan. The videos I have are too large to upload
Ford has a current recall on their 10R80 transmission, but not all of the vehicles that have this transmission and are experiencing these problems are included? Our vehicle that has this 10R80 transmission is experiencing the same symptoms as explained in Ford's recall but our vin number is not included on their recall list. Our safety is put at risk because it is shifting hard and falls into neutral just as Ford explains in their recall. The vehicle has not been inspected yet because I have been waiting for Ford to notify us of their recall, which they haven't done yet. There has been no warning lamps on concerning this 10R80 transmission issue, but Ford does need to address it on all the vehicles that are experiencing the problems they list in their recall. Please help. Thanks!
Truck starting shifting poorly past 30 days. Taken to local Ford dealer with 84,971 miles and was told the entire transmission needed to be replaced due to bad torque converter and metal shavings?
I have a 10 speed automatic transmission. The last month or so, two things have been occurring. 1. A hard shift from 2nd to 3rd gear, usually but not always. 2. Occasionally it will slip from 1st gear to neutral.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact continued driving; while driving downhill, the vehicle slowed down unintended. The contact pulled over to the side of the road. While the contact moved the gear shift lever to drive(D) the vehicle failed to function as intended. The contact shifted to 4-WD, and vehicle functioned properly for a short while. The contact stated that the message "Service Engine Soon" was displayed, and the “WRENCH” warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was a voltage issue with the solenoid in the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired, because the codes were cleared. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for the software update. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the software update was performed. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while driving at a slow speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle then went into LIMP Mode. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The message "Service Engine Soon" was displayed, and the “WRENCH” warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the solenoid and unknown valves had failed. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced; however, the vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed that the contact that the warranty was expired. No additional assistance was provided. The contact was advised by the manufacturer to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.
Rear camera glitch see lines or black screen when reversing
DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE ABOUT 45MPH 10 SPEED TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED TO 1ST ALMOST WRECK, DEALERSHIP SAID THE TRANS WAS GONE
The display screen (back up camera, clock, audio, etc.) will at times freeze up, other times be blank, other times show the rear view when in drive. This is affecting my safety as I cannot use the rear view camera in some instances and others the rear view shows up while driving causing confusion. I have not had this looked at yet by a dealer as I believed it was a known issue and a recall was coming, but as of now a lot of other vehicles are being recalled for what appears to be similar issues, but not this vehicle. No warnings.
Transmission has a defective CDF drum assembly causing transmission to loose bypass hydraulic pressure. This is causing transmission to hesitate between gears during acceleration and Ford Dealer diagnosed failure and recommends replacing transmission as clutch packs are failing as well. Harsh downshifts as well. Contacted Ford Customer Service issued case number, then told they would not render and assistance is $9000. cost of.transmission replacement.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted with the message "See Dealer" flashing on the instrument panel. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was initially taken to a dealer and the contact was immediately referred to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer informed the contact that no assistance could be provided without a diagnostic. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with transmission failure. The dealer referenced Technical Service Bulletin: 25-2126; however, the contact's vehicle was not included in the bulletin. The vehicle remained unrepaired with the dealer. The failure mileage was 59,260.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the brake fluid hose had ruptured while rubbing on the steering column. The contact was advised that the brake fluid hose needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was 118,000.
Transmission. 3rd to 4th or 4th to 5th upshift shuddering and occasionally abrupt downshift from 4th to 1st then back to 4th.
Vehicle is Shifting hard and has down shifted to 1st gear on highway. Along with skipping gears.
I was driving my vehicle at approximately 70mph and the vehicle suddenly downshifted into a low gear (i believe 1st) causing tires to lockup. I was able to maintain control of the vehicle. Within 5 miles of driving it, the transmission was acting erractic. Was brought to local mechanic and it was determined the transmission is now shot this incident.
At 101,000 miles, the engine lost power, check engine light came on, and service transmission light came on. This happened while pulling a trailer up a mountain, slowing the truck rapidly, and becoming a hazard to surrounding interstate traffic. The dealer diagnosed the problem as the timing chain, and replaced it and all related components at a cost of $4500. They tell me that this is a problem with that year truck and engine.
About a month ago my truck started shifting hard between 3rd and 4th gear. My truck has been in the shop almost 1month Water Solutions is giving me a run around. They drove the truck and confirmed it’s shifting hard. Took the transmission pan out and saw the metal shavings. now they want me to take it to another shop for a CDF air drum test. Have any other F150 having this issue?I need help on what to do
Rear window ford part number 1542006 - Back window glass has 1" cracks in glass where the glass connects to the body on the left passenger side of the crew cab. Cracks have caused leaks into the cab interior and has caused the modem, mounted behind the rear passenger set on the back wall to stop working as water has infiltrated the electronics. Vehicle was inspected at dealership and their 3rd party glass leak specialists discovered the cracks in the glass connection. I have no idea as to how long this has been going on, estimate a few months as I recently discovered I could not communicate with the vehicle through the Ford Connect App and called Ford Connect, they identified an issue with the modem and when I pulled back the upholstery to see, there was water dripping inside the vehicle. Unknown if cracks will propagate, however they are leaking when it rains. I will be replacing the glass to prevent further leaks from occurring. I have extended warranty through Ford and "glass" is not covered. Reached out to Ford Care and they would not cover. Suggested that I put in a report here so that if later recall or other action, I might be able to get refund for the repair that I am now going to have to pay for to replace the glass and possibly the modem. No other symptoms other than the filaure of the modem that alerted to the issue.

Camera will freeze or not appear at all if switching into reverse right after starting the vehicle.
My Ford F-150 with 5.0 V8, 10-speed automatic transmission, and only 46k miles has been diagnosed by my Ford Service Dept. (Angela Krause Ford in Alpharetta, GA) with the known 10R80 10-speed transmission issue (completely destroyed transmission and drum) and I now must receive a new one. This issue started around 43k miles, but I had no idea of the transmission design flaw that exists. While driving this Memorial Day Weekend (2025) from Atlanta to VA with my wife and twin girls, we were nearly rear ended by a tractor trailer because the transmission would not let me speed up for several seconds. It wasn’t able to select a gear. When it finally did, the tractor trailer was up to my rear bumper. This was extremely scary and could have been life threatening. There must be a recall issued for this flawed Ford transmission that is in F-150s, Explorers, etc. built before 2022. For owners of Fords that are out of warranty and are expected to pay for this repair is unacceptable. This will financially ruin many people and worse, will lead to a death or more at some point. I beg you to research and do something about this. Thank you.
Transmission suddenly failed at highway speeds with no warning forcing an emergency stop on freeway. The vehicle is 6 years old and has only 62,000 miles. The vehicle has received all recommended maintenance which was performed by the Ford Dealer. The vehicle had just received the full 60,000 mile service which includes scheduled service of the transmission. The Failed transmission was deemed a complete loss by the dealer .
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated when the vehicle was started, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed cam phaser sensor. The contact was informed that the cam phaser sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact stated the vehicle had received an oil change minutes prior to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 153,250.
Cam phasers - this is a known issue on the 3.5L ecoboost motors, yet Ford will not stand behind their product. They have paid for some people to have it repaired, and not others. This is about a $4,000 fix at the dealership, again for an issue they knew about years ago. They tried to claim changing the timing with the ECM module would stop it from happening, but as I discovered this weekend it didn't My vehicles ECM was swapped in 2021 and here I am a few years later with the same issue. Ford needs to be called out as they knowingly pushed out subpar engine products to make more money.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while reversing, the back over prevention camera malfunctioned and displayed a solid blue screen with the message "Camera Malfunction" displayed. During the failure, there was no image displayed, creating a visibility hazard for the driver. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The local dealer was not contacted regarding the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V252000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION). The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 75,000.
Had diagnostic done on truck to find out cam phasers need replacement. There was a recall on this issue but was never informed of. Now I’m looking at a $3528.40 repair which I was informed that this can be a regular repair once issue occurs. Reached out to Ford Corporation and was informed they couldn’t help us in any way.
10R80 transmission in the 2019 Ford F-150 is defective and dangerous. Hard/delayed shifting and shuddering causes vehicle to speed up, slow down and jerk unexpectedly while shifting gears.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that at cold starts there was a rattling sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that the sound was present for approximately five seconds before self-correcting. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not covered under the manufacturer's Extended Warranty coverage regarding the cam phaser repair. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced the failure listed in the Extended Warranty coverage. The failure mileage was 120,300.
Rough idling result in Cam phaser and timing belt replacement. While driving the vehicle would accelerate and decelerate on its own making it unsafe to drive. Dealer quoted me $6,095 to replace camp phasers (part #HL2Z-6C590-A)
Vehicle would stall in between gears. Almost got hit in side. The transmission has shifted rough and hard shift. I took to dealer and the computer was reset at 55,000 miles. I just had to replace transmission at 77,000 miles. The repair cost was $8,059.00 before taxes. I was told 4th and 8th gear the cluthes were out. This seems to be a known problem because the replacement transmission has a different valve body.
Transmission has sporadic downshifts when traveling at normal posted speed limits also stalling of engine occurs while doing so. The transmission shifting into gears are very hard (Clunky sounds). This has been an issue every since I've owned the truck but happens more frequently within the last 2-3 months.
The transmission is slipping, skipping gears, and shifting hard. I have a quote for more than 8K dollars to replace it, even though the vehicle only has 65,000 miles. I live in a very small town, and I personally know more than 10 people who are having the same problem or have already had their transmission replaced.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, there was loud clanking sound coming from the engine compartment. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the cam phasers had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 113,270.
On May 5th 2025 I had a routine oil change tie rotation on my 2019 f150, 77,000 miles. There was no visible signs of transmission fluid leak or transmission issues. The week of May 15th 2025 i started experiencing hard shifting random downshifting without notice. So I immediately contacted crossroads ford of sanford NC to bring it in. There Was zero transmission fluid, so they did a full transmission service at only 77,000. Which made the problem worse Turns out, it was a bad CDF DRUM. My endurance warranty denied my claim.Which should have been covered. This cost me $8,600 out of pocket. It came out of nowhere, the downshifting with no notice a warning is extremely dangerous!
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after shifting to reverse(R), the back over prevention camera display screen was solid blue with a message displayed that the camera was not available. The contact researched online and became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V252000 (Back Over Prevention). The manufacturer was informed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact called a dealer and was advised that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The contact decided not to have the vehicle diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
Had oil change 7 times in one year and each time they indicate at the place I get oil changed that it is a quart or more low before 3,000 miles of usage after oil change. My car is suppose to take unleaded gas or higher and it knocks if I use unloaded. Now my catalytic converter is going out and it is not covered under warranty unless it is consequential to other problems. Well there appears to be engine problems that are not being addressed and I have a warranty and have taken it in. But they do not look any deeper into the problem except for computer scan and the warranty people won’t give me any answers on what they will do if there is engine problems.
Transmission shifts very hard into the next gear and also downshifts randomly at highway speeds I was driving down the highway and I let off of the accelerator and my truck decided to go into first gear I’m lucky I was able to hit the brakes fast enough
I am experiencing a serious and potentially dangerous issue with the transmission in my 2019 Ford F-150 Lariat equipped with the 10-speed 10R80 automatic transmission. At highway speeds (65–75 mph), the truck will occasionally downshift abruptly into a much lower gear without any input from the driver. This causes the engine RPMs to spike and creates a sudden deceleration, which could easily lead to a rear-end collision or loss of control.
Cam Phasers are bad and making noise. This needs to be a recall item from ford.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 80 MPH with the cruise control activated, the transmission downshifted to 4th gear, and there was smoke coming from the front end of the vehicle. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and became aware that transmission fluid was leaking on the road. The contact waited before continuing to drive to the residence. After approximately one hour, the contact restarted the vehicle and there was no more transmission fluid leaking. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that there was no recall on the VIN. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 111,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle made an abnormal loud rattling sound on cold starts. The contact related the failure to Ford Campaign Number: 21N03. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
I am submitting this report regarding a serious safety concern involving the 10R80 automatic transmission in my 2019 Ford F-150. The vehicle experienced a failure of the transmission system, specifically related to a faulty CDF (Clutch Drum F) component, which I believe led to internal fluid loss without visible external leaks, ultimately causing complete transmission failure as supported in TSB 22-2428. The automatic transmission system, specifically the CDF clutch drum assembly, failed. This internal component caused loss of hydraulic pressure and transmission fluid without any external leaks observed. And which I have documentation from a professional automechanic stating there were no signs of the leak on May 5th 2025, as I brought my truck in for routine oil change and tire rotation.. The vehicle is currently sitting up crossroads ford in Sanford and available for inspection upon request. The failure occurred while driving at moderate speed at about 77,000 miles. The truck exhibited delayed engagement, erratic shifting, and eventually became unable to shift properly. This created a significant safety risk as the vehicle hesitated while accelerating from stops, increasing the potential for collisions, especially at intersections or while merging into traffic. Ford has yet to take responsibility for this issue. Regardless of the evidence and current TSB 22-2428. There were absolutely no visible signs of a transmission fluid leak nor warning lamps or lights to let me know. The dealership is trying to say the the transmission failure is due to the low transmission fluid which my warranty would not cover the replacement, however, in my case it was the opposite. The low transmission fluid was a result of the bad CDF drum. Which then fall under warranty. I am currently, presenting my evidence to ford regarding this issue.
CAM PHASERS!!!! I have a 2019 Ford F-150 with the 3.5L EcoBoost engine which started having cam phaser issues. On cold starts, the engine makes a loud rattling noise for several seconds, and during idle a ticking noise is heard as well. At times the engine runs roughly and loses power briefly when i’m driving it. I’m very concerned because it happened to me while merging into a highway the truck cut power down and I almost caused an accident for not getting up to speed properly, additionally this could lead to the car shutting off on me, or other dangerous situations on the road, other than the long wear and tear that these bad cam phasers have on the engine. I’ve learned that this issue is known to Ford and has been happening for many years, and was addressed for other owners through Customer Satisfaction Programs like the 21N03 and its various supplements, to my knowledge the last one being held in 2022, but my truck is not covered at this time even though it’s a 2019 and has under 70,000 miles. I believe this issue should be investigated further as it is a safety risk to drivers, passengers, and all other vehicles on the road, and Ford should be held accountable, as this issue has been seen around their 3.5 Ecoboost engines and has yet to be fixed. It seems like it’s an ongoing profitable business for them to keep customers paying out of pocket for this $4,000+ job knowing that it’s an issue that many owners have, which is beyond ridiculous on their end. If it’s possible for you guys to take a look at any of their social media platforms, most of the comments on their posts, even if they have nothing to do with this engine, are complaints about not having a Recall for cam phasers on the 3.5 Ecoboost engine. Ford needs to be held accountable for this issue and give more importance to the safety of their customers instead of their parts/service profits!!!!!!
The transmission is unpredictable and shifts into 1st gear at highway speeds, does not shift, hard shifts and causes loss of control. It is not safely drivable.
10 speed Transmission began erratically shifting not sure the cause but the vehicle went from 10th-1st- 10th losing speed and also shaking the whole truck. This happened multiple times and I am told is a common problem specifically with the 10 speed transmission. This was incredibly unsafe on a highway
Right front coil spring broke, which greatly reduces handling. Repair has made made by local Ford dealer. No warnings.
Driveability Issue - Ford 10R80 10 speed transmission. Turning into traffic (45MPH speed limit) from parking lot, in Drive gear, transmission disengaged, cause motor to rev. Released accelerator pedal, and had to wait for transmission to reengage drive gear. Transmission provides hard upshifts/downshifts. Local dealer technician test drove the vehicle and confirmed complaint. Technician inspected the issue, found no codes indicating an issue, but found that there is a hydraulic circuit leakage and the test of this circuit failed . Vehicle has approximately 57,000 miles on it. Dealers recommended fix is to purchase a new transmission. This issue came close to causing vehicle to be involved in a rear end collision. This should be a manufacturers recall.
Our home is situated on a blind curve, and the speed limit is 55 mph. When pulling out onto the road, adequate acceleration is necessary to merge with the traffic flow. The truck initially accelerates as expected, then stops accelerating before suddenly jerking forward. Occasionally, it takes several seconds for the vehicle to accelerate, which creates a hazardous situation when approaching traffic is moving at 55 mph. It has not caused an accident yet but it has caused me to adjust my driving and times to use the truck. I use my wife's car (another Ford) most of the time. This hesitation and strange shifting poses safety risks for all road users. On 5/21/2025, I took the truck to Ford dealer, and on 5/30/2025, was informed that major work was required on the transmission and differential, estimated at $12,383.80. Seeking an alternative assessment due to financial considerations, I consulted a specialist who confirmed that the transmission and pinion bearings needed repair or replacement. The vehicle was returned to dealer on 6/4/2025 for differential repairs, completed on 6/13/2025 at a cost of $4,486.26. The transmission repair was not in the budget. Subsequent research indicated that the 10R80 transmission has a record of mechanical issues, service bulletins, recalls, and related legal matters. It appears likely that the jerky shifting of the transmission contributed to the failure of the pinion bearings. Although the truck is out of warranty and has 64,430 miles, given the safety concerns, I request that Ford review my case for assistance with the remaining transmission repairs, in light of documented issues with the 10R80. I request that Ford evaluate this request in consideration of customer satisfaction, public safety, and corporate responsibility. I know Ford is well aware of the problems as there are 474 other complaints on file. They need to step up and do the right thing before this causes serious injuries.
