VALVE STEMS TO AIR TIRES FAILED, RESULTING IN FLAT TIRES, THERE HAS BEEN THREE FAILURE, THE RUBBER PART OF THE STEM SPLIT OPEN, ONE INCIDENT RESULTED IN A FLAT TIRE.
TREAD SEPARATION ON HIGHWAY CAUSED TOTAL LOSS OF VEHICLE. *AK (TIRESIZE: 265/75 R16) (TIRESIZE: 265/75 R16)
WHILE TRAVELING 10-15 MPH ON A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET SPARE TIRE CABLE BROKE, CAUSING SPARE TIRE TO COLLAPSE AND ROLLOVER ONTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
I WAS TRAVELING EASTBOUND ON I-10 @ MONROE ST. IN INDIO, CALIFORNIA AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH. I FELT THE TRUCK START TO SHAKE AND VIBRATE, IMMEDIATELY STARTED SLOWING DOWN. I LOOKED IN MY MIRROR AND SAW THE TREAD COME OFF . WITHIN 1 - 2 SECONDS, I HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION WHEN THE TIRE BLEW UP. AS ALL THIS WAS HAPPENING, I WAS PULLING OFF THE ROAD AND STOPPING. WHEN I DID GET STOPPED, I HAD TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 1/8 OF A MILE. LOOKING BACK AT THE TIRE TREAD, I OBSERVED ANOTHER VEHICLE STRIKING THE TIRE TREAD AND KNOCKING THE TREAD INTO THE CENTER DIVIDER AND UNFORTUNATELY, FELT IT FAR TOO UNSAFE TO TRY TO CROSS TWO OR THREE LANES OF HEAVY TRAFFIC TO RETRIEVE THE TREAD*AK. WHEN VEHICLE GOES THROUGH LARGE PUDDLES OF WATER IT SPLASHS ONTO WINDSHIELD, CAUSING IT TO BE VERY BLURRED. IT TAKES SEVERAL WIPES BEFORE WINDSHIELD IS CLEARED ENOUGH TO SEE. WINDSHIELD IS SO COVERED THAT DRIVER CAN'T TELL WHAT IS IN FRONT OR WHERE HE IS GOING. MANUFACTURER WILL LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM.*AK
UPON INSPECTING THE TIRES (LT265/75 R16), DURING ROUTINE ROTATION, 3 OF THE 4 ROAD TIRES HAVE DEVELOPED NUMEROUS 1/4" SPLITS IN THE CENTER AND OUTER TREAD. ON ONE TIRE THEY ARE AS CLOSE AS 1" APART FROM ONE SPLIT TO THE NEXT.*AK (DOT NUMBER: VNW81XL389 TIRESIZE: LT265/75/R)
NATURAL GAS VEHICLE. CLAMP IN ENGINE WAS RUBBING ONTO FLEXIBLE HOSE THAT WAS HOOKED TO FUEL INJECTORS, CAUSING A HOLE IN FLEXIBLE HOSE, EMITTING NATURAL GAS. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED.*AK
ON 7/19/01 I FOUND A BUBBLE ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE. THE BUBBLE WAS APPROXIMATELY 8 LONG. WHEN THE TIRE WAS REMOVED FROM THE RIM THE BUBBLE ALSO EXTENDED INSIDE THE RIM. ON 7/21/01 I WAS LOOKING AT THE OTHER TIRES AND FOUND CRACKS FORMING ON THE SIDE WALLS ON THE OTHER THREE. THESE CRACKS ARE THREE QUARTERS TO ONE INCH IN LENGTH. *AK (DOT NUMBER: ADOR1JD379 TIRESIZE: LT23585R16)
TIRE FAILED DRAMATICALLY AT 70 MPH. ENTIRE OUTSIDE SIDEWALL SEPARATED. TRUCK WAS PULLING FIFTH WHEEL TRAILER. TRAILER WEIGHT WAS 11,500 LBS WITH A HITCH WEIGHT OF 2000 LBS. TIRE PRESSURES WERE CHECKED BEFORE HOOKING UP TRAILER, ABOUT 2 HOURS BEFORE FAILURE. REAR PRESSURE WAS 70 PSI AND FRONT PRESSURE WAS 45 PSI AS RECOMMENED BY FORD. FAILURE OF TIRE WAS ABOUT 10 MILES INTO TRIP. ONLY WARNING WAS A RUMBLING SOUND IMMEDIATELY BEFORE FAILURE. TIRE WAS CHECKED AT FORD. NO PUNCTURES WERE NOTICED. FIRESTONE HAS NOT BEEN CONTACTED BECAUSE ALL FIRESTONE TIRES WILL BE REMOVED FROM THIS VEHICLE BEFORE THE TRAILER IS AGAIN TOWED.*AK (DOT NUMBER: ILLEGBLE TIRESIZE: LT265/75R1)
BLEW OUT AT HIGHWAY SPEED. WAS ABLE TO CONTROL VEHICLE TO A SAFE STOP. THE VIN OF THE TIRE WAS DESTOYED BY THE BLOW OUT. TIRE WAS AT RECOMENDED AIR PRESSURE AT LAST FILL UP OF DIESEL.*AK (DOT NUMBER: N/A TIRESIZE: LT265R16)

HYDRAULIC CLUTCH HAS FAILED TWO TIMES WHILE TRAVELING LESS THAN 5 MPH. DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED CLUTCH DISC ASSEMBLY IN AN ATTEMPT TO REMEDY PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / DOCUMENTATION.*AK
BRAKES FIRST WAS HAVING PROBLEMS AT APPROX 15,000 MILES THE ROTORS HAD WENT OUT. FALLON FORD SUPPOSELY TURNED THE ROTORS AND PUT NEW PADS ON. AT APPROX. 28,000 MILES LITHIA TURNED THE ROTORS AND PUT NEW PADS ON, STATING THAT FALLON NEVER DID THAT, THEN LATER ON THE BRAKES STILL ACTING UP PULLING RIGHT. LITHIA PUT ON A NEW MASTER CYLINDER, LITHIA ALSO HAD THE ALIGHMENT PROBLEM SO THEY HAD SHIMMS PUT IN. LITHIA RELPLACED THE ELECTRONIC CLUSTER TWICE. WHEN TAKEN IN A GAIN FOR CHATTERING LITHIA SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES, THEY ALSO SAID BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY THEY WOULD NOT WORK ON IT WITH OUT BEING PAID. JONES WEST FORD REVIEWED ALL OF THE PAPER WORK AND SEEING THAT IT MET THE LEMON LAW THEY REFUSED TO WORK ON IT. LETTER WAS WRITTEN TO THE CEO OF FORD, WHO SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THE TRUNK IS USED FOR BUSINESS. THE DISTRICT REP THAT CAME TO LITHIA SAID THEY COULD NOT REPLACE THE TRUCK BECAUSE LITHIA WAS NOT A FORD/TRUCK DEALER SHIP THAT THE TRUCK SHOULD BE REPLACED, LITHA SINCE HAS REFUSED TO WORK ON THE TRUCK, FALLON REFUSES TO REPLACE THE TRUCK. NOW THE BRAKES HAVE COMPLETELY FAILED. WE TOOK IT IN TO A GOODYEAR SHOP WHO SAID WHEN WE HAD THE ELECTRICAL FAILURE THE ABS BOX AND THE PORPORTIONING VALVE SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACE AND IS WHAT PROBABLY WAS WHAT CAUSED THIS PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH ANOTHER VEHICLE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF CONSUMER. CONSUMER HIT OTHER VEHICLE ON DRIVERS SIDE. NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED. CONSUMER WAS INJURED. DAMAGE TO VEHICLE UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME.*AK *SLC
14400 MILES ON ORRIGINAL TIRES. LONGITUDINAL SEPARATIONS ON ALL FOUR TIRES FROM 1/4" TO 2" WITH FROM 5 TO ABOUT 20 INDIVIDUAL SEPARATIONS ON EACH TIRE. COMPLAINT #727191 INDICATES THE SAME PATTERN OF FAILURE AS WELL AS THE SAME DOT #. FORD DEALER BLOWS ME OFF AND NO WORD FROM FIRESTONE YET. I'M REPLACING MY TIRES TOMMORROW(05/31/01 AND THEY WON'T BE FIRESTONE!). I STRONGLY URGE ANYONE WITH A FORD SUPER-DUTY AND FIRESTONE STEELTEX TIRES TO REPLACE THE TIRES IMMEDIATELY. AFTER READING THE COMPLAINTS SUMMARIES ON THIS SITE, I'M CONVINCED THESE TIRES ARE AS DANGEROUS AND PROBABLY MORE PRONE TO FAILURE THAN THE INFAMOUS WILDERNESS TIRES.*AK (DOT NUMBER: 008061 TIRESIZE: 265/75/R16)
WHILE DRIVING WOULD STEP ON BRAKES PEDAL LIGHTLY AND POWER STEERING WILL LOCK UP WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. THIS VEHICLE IS A DIESEL MODEL.*AK
WHEN BRAKING HARD AND TRYING TO TURN/STEER AS IN ACCIDENT PREVENTION AND EVASIVE MANEUVERING, THE STEERING WILL LOCK MOMENTARILY. IT IS A HARD SITUATION TO DUPLICATE SINCE IT IS A REACTIONARY ACTION AND IS ADRENALINE POWERED, BUT IT CAN BE SIMULATED WITH THE ENGINE ON AND THE VEHICLE IN PARK. ?DEALER INSISTS THIS IS A NORMAL CONDITION AND THERE IS NOTHING TO FIX!!! THIS HAS OCCURED TWICE WITHIN THE MONTH OF MAY AND BOTH INCIDENTS RESULTED IN NEAR COLLISIONS.*AK
PEE 020; CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 70MPH ON HIGHWAY AND HEARD A NOISE. HE WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO SHOULDER AND NOTICED THAT THE RIGHT REAR TREAD SEPARATED. ALSO, LEFT REAR TIRE HAD A BUBBLE. FIRESTONE, RS4 LT2657516. *AK
FIRESTONE STEELTEX LT265/75R16, DOT VNW81XL349, ORIG. EQUIPMENT WITH 26000 ON A 2000, FORD, F250 , WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH LEFT REAR TIRE HAD A BLOWOUT. FIRESTONE DEALER STATED IT WAS DUE TO ROAD HAZARD.*AK *SLC

VEHICLE DESTROYED BY FIRE ORIGINATING UNDER HOOD. EXACT CAUSE UNKNOWN DUE TO EXTENT OF HEAT/DAMAGE UPON DISCOVERY OF EVENT. FIRE BURNED THROUGH THE FIREWALL INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED APX 2 HOURS WITH IGNITION SWITCH OFF AND KEY OUT OF IGNITION. VEHICLE HAD HAD A 5,000 MILE SERVICE WITH THE NEXT SERVICE DUE AT 10,000 MILES. *AK
BLOWOUT DESTROYED OUTSIDE SIDEWALL, TIRE BLEMISHES AND CRACKS WERE SPECIFICALLY POINTED OUT TO FORD DEALER ABOUT 750 MILES BEFORE AND DISMISSED BY EMPLOYEE BLAKE SHOOK. *AK (DOT NUMBER: VNW8 1XL TIRESIZE: 265/75R16E)
WHILE DRIVING 65-70 MPH AND TOWING A TRAILER EXTREME VIBRATION OCCURRED WHICH CAUSED LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL, RESULTING IN TRUCK AND TRAILER TURNING OVER. *AK THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING THE ACCIDENT AND THE TRAILER WAS TOTAL LOSS. *YH
VEHICLE SHUDDERS VIOLENTLY UPON APPLYING BRAKES. DEALER INFORMS THAT ROTORS ARE WARPED. THIS IS SECOND REPAIR FOR THIS PROBLEM IN 8000 MILES. DEALER/MANUFACTURER INSINUATES DRIVER ERROR. EXPERIENCED DRIVER-NO ERROR. FORD DENIES RESPONSIBILITY FOR FURTHER REPAIRS.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 TO 30 MPH STEERING GEAR BOX FAILED. WHEN VEHICLE WAS DIRECTED TO THE RIGHT, CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO REDIRECT VEHICLE TO THE LEFT. VEHICLE WENT INTO A DITCH AS A RESULT OF CONSUMER NOT BEING ABLE TO STEER VEHICLE TO THE LEFT. *AK VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. *SLC

ON 2/10/01 I WAS INVOLVED IN A ONE CAR ACCIDENT IN THE FOOTHILLS NORTH OF BOULDER CO, WENT OFF A CURVE, ROLLED AN EMBANKMENT AND LANDED IN A RIVER. AIRBAGS DID NOT ACTIVATE. SUFFERED MUTIPLE BROKEN FACIAL BONES. HAVE PICTURES TO PROVE THIS. PLEASE CONTACT.*AK

IHAV EGONE TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT SEVERAL TIMES AND ASKED FOR ASSISTANCE WITH THESE PROBLEMS. I HAVE GOTTEN NO SUPPORT FROM THEM. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN SEVERN TIMES AND FILLED TWO DISPUTE SETTELMENT CLAIMS. I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR FROM THEM, I FEEL WE BOUGHT A THIRTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLAR HEADACHE! PLEASE HELP ME TO GET THIS TRUCK REPAIRED OR REPLACED. I FEEL WE HAVE GIVEN PENINSULA FORD EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO DO THE RIGHT THING, BUT THEY SEEM TO NOT WANT TO NOW THAT THEY HAVE THEIR MONEY. RIGHT REAR FIRESTONE STEELTEX (LT 265/R16) TIRE EXPERIENCED A PUNCTURE AND RAPID DEFLATION, SIDE WALL OF TIRE APPEARED TO PART FROM MAIN CASING. *JB
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH I HEARD A LOUD POP POP POP AS I CONFIRMED IT WAS MY VEHICLE AND PROCEEDED TO THE RIGHT LANE AND TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD THE LEFT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO FISHTAIL . I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AND STOP SAFELY . THE FIRESTONE TIRE HAS A TREAD SEPERATION IDENICAL TO THE FIRESTONE TIRES ON THE EORD EXPLORERS . I AM CONCERNED THAT THESE SEPERATION PROBLEM ON FIRESTONE TIRES ARE SIMIALAR TO THOSE IN THE '70,S AND THAT THEY ARE LIMITED TOO ONE SIZE OR MODEL. (DOT NUMBER: VDW81XM TIRESIZE: LT26575R16)
