SQUEALING - GRINDING SOUND FROM THE FRONT TIRES - FRONT BRAKES REPLACED AND REAR BRAKE ROTORS WERE TURNED AND CLEANED
AFTER HAVING MY 2002 FORD FOCUS FOR 4 MONTHS THE ENGINE BEGAN TO STALL WILE I WAS DRIVING. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE RADIO WOULD CUT OUT, THE HEADLIGHTS BEGAN FLICKERING ON AND OFF, AND SOMETIMES THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD DROP TO ZERO AND POP BACK UP WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. THE PROBLEMS GOT WORSE AFTER AWEEK OR SO. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WOULDN'T DO IT FOR THEM SO THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING TO FIX IT. IT WOULD STOP DOING IT FOR A MONTH OR SO AND DO IT AGAIN ONCE OR TWICE THEN STOP AGAIN, BUT EVENTUALLY IT GETS PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN THREE TIMES AND THEY REFUSE TO ADMIT ANYTHING IS WRONG. I HAVE SPOKEN TO AN ATTORNEY AND AM BEGINING LEMON LAW PROCEEDINGS AGAINST FORD.*AK
MY 2002 FORD FOCUS HAS HAD A NO START AND STALLING PROBLEM SINCE 9-28-03.I HAVE TAKEN IT TO ELITE FORD IN COVINA CA. THIRTY TIMES OR MORE AND THEY CANT SEEM TO DIAGNOIS THE PROBLEM.I ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY FRONT END MAKING A CLUNKING SOUND,THEY SAID IT WAS A SWAY BAR THAT WAS LOOSE AND THEY TIGHTENED IT.THAT PROBLEM STILL EXISTS ALSO.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, A CAR SWERVED INTO MY LANE, CAUSING ME TO SWERVE TO AVOID HIM. I LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND STRUCK A CONCRETE DIVIDER WITH THE PASSENGER FRONT BUMBER, CAUSING THE CAR TO CLIMB UP THE DIVIDER, BACK DOWN, AND END UP FACING THE OTHER WAY ON THE HIGHWAY. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AT THAT TIME, BUT 10-15 MINUTES LATER WHEN I RE-ENTERED THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG HAD DEPLOYED PARTIALLY. THE CAR WAS TOTALLED.
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2002 FOCUS SE. APRIL 2003, I PASSED NY STATE INSPECTION W/O ANY PROBLEMS. AUGUST 2003 I BRING MY CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND I AM TOLD THAT BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKE PADS NEED TO BE REPLACED ASAP B/C THEY ARE ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE ROTOR. THERE WERE NO WARNING SOUNDS COMING FROM THE BRAKES. THE DEALER ALSO TELLS ME IT WILL COST ME $600.00 TO REPAIR! I CALLED FORD IN DETROIT AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A HIGH PRICE, BUT THEY DON'T CONTROL DEALER'S PRICES. THEY ALSO TELL ME THAT THERE IS NO REPORTED PROBLEMS W/THE BRAKES, SO IT MUST BE ME. I DO NOT BRAKE HARD. THE MILEAGE ON THE CAR HAS BEEN THROUGH SOFT DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL CAR REPAIR WHO TOLD ME NOT ONLY DO I NEED FRONT/BACK BRAKES, BUT THAT CARS AREN'T DESIGNED TO WEAR BRAKES DOWN AT THE SAME RATE. AT THIS SHOP IT COST ME $325. I JOINED THE CLASS ACTION SUIT W/ FORDFOCUSBRAKEPROBLEMS.COM . *JB
TO MY FOCUS IN TO SERVICE JAN 2003 FOR SQUEAKING BRAKES, ROTORS WERE WARPED, BRAKE SQUEAKING SAID TO BE "NORMAL". THEY MACHINE STRAIGHTENED THE ROTORS AND SAID FORD ENGINEERING LOOKING INTO SQUEAKS. AUG. 2003 TAKE FOCUS IN FOR LOUD VIBRATING SOUND. BRAKES AND ROTORS COMPLETELY SHOT. $440 TO FIX. 13700 MILES ON CAR. *AK
1)EARLIER THIS YEAR WE TOOK OUR FOCUS IN TO THE DEALER TO CHECK THE POWER STEERING. THEY SAID IT JUST NEEDED POWER STEERING FLUID. I HAVE BEEN PUTTING PS FLUID IN EVERY TWO TO THREE WEEKS. 2)WE HAVE HAD DIFFICULTIES WITH OUR BRAKES, THE LIGHTS STAYING ON AND THEN THE FUSES BURNING OUT. 3)THEN TODAY(8-5-03) THE GEAR SHIFT INTERLOCK GOT STUCK AND IT ONLY WORKS IF IT IS PUSHED IN TO RELEASE.
ON AUGUST 11, 2003 I TOOK MY CAR INTO KOONS FORD OF ANNAPOLIS, TO HAVE THE HAVE THE IGNITION SWITCH TOOK AT, BECAUSE THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN. I WAS TOLD MY SERVICE MANAGER MIKE SHECKELLS, THE SERVICE ADVISOR PETE, AND FACTORY TECH: 063 - RANDALL BOUNDS, AND A CASHIER THAT THIS HAS BEEN A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH MOST OF THE FORD FOCUS, I FEEL THIS I SHOULD BE ON A RECALL NOTICE IF ITS HAS BEEN A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE FOCUSES. THAT THE CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR A MAJOR DEFECT WITH THESE VECHICLE. ALSO, I HAD MY FOCUS IN KOONS FOR OF ANNAPOLIS, ON MAY 10, 2003, TO HAVE NEW BRAKES, OIL CHANGE AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. ON THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS BECAUSE IT WAS A INTERMITTENT THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY THING.*AK ON JULY 25, 2003, I LEFT MY CAR FOR SERVICE ON THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE IT WAS SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR COMPLETELY. THEY HAD THE CAR UNTIL AUGUST 7, 2003, WHICH THEY PUT IN A REMFG TRANSMISSION AND C. I LEFT KOONS FOR WITH 1.5 MILES ON THE TRIP METER, I WENT ANOTHER 17.1 MILES WENT THE TRANSMISSIONS SURGED, I E-MAILED MIKE SHECKELL ON AUGUST 8, 2003 WHICH HE DID NOT ANSWER AS OF THIS DAY. I TALKED TO MIKE SHECKELL ON AUGUST 11, ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THE ANSWER I GET IS THEY CAN NOT DO ANY EXCEPT TO LET SOME ONE GO ON AT TEST DIVE WITH ME. THIS IS NOT THE ANSWER BECAUSE IT'S A INTERMITTEN PROBLEM AND SOME ONE WOULD HAVE TO DRIVE IT FOR A FEW DAY BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SURGED AGAING. I HAVE KEPT RECORD OF THIS PROBLEM IS SURGED AT 18.5 MILES, 93 MILES AND AT 250.0 MILES ON THE TRIP METER. I FEEL THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT FIXED AND FIXED RIGHT AND ALSO, FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. I HAVE DONE BUSINESS WITH KOONS FOR OF ANNPOLIS FOR OVER 20 YEARS. MY DAUGHTER IS SCARED TO RIDE IN THIS CAR NOW, AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THE CAR NEITHER. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS TYPE OF BAD SERVICE OR INCOMPETENT SERVICE BEFORE, I ALSO FEEL THEY ARE JUST TELLING ME ANYTHING, BECAUSE OF BEING A FEMALE.
CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO RESPOND TO APPLICATION OF BRAKES.*MR THE SECOND INCIDENT CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO STRIKE ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO DISENGAGE.*TS *JB
I HAVE A 2002 FORD FOCUS SE W/ 5 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND CRUISE CONTROL PLUS OTHER OPTIONS. ON DATE LISTED, I WAS TRAVELING AT 65 MPH ON A 4 LANE HWY APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE CAR WAS IN 5TH GEAR W/ THE CRUISE CONTROL ON. UPON TOUCHING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO TURN OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL AND BEGIN BRAKING, NEITHER EVENT HAPPENED. I TRIED 3X TO GET THE CRUISE CONTROL TO TURN OFF BY PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL HARD. IT FAILED ALL THREE TIMES. BY THEN, I WAS RAPIDLY APPROACHING A GROUP OF CARS IN BOTH NORTHBOUND LANES OF GA HWY 365 COMPLETELY STANDING STILL WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE. IN RESPONSE TO A RUNAWAY CAR, I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE OFF THE RIGHT SHOULDER OF THE ROAD; HOWEVER, THE CAR IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF ME DID THE SAME. I STRUCK HER CAR ON THE RIGHT SIDE WITH THE LEFT SIDE OF MY 2002 FORD FOCUS SE. MY PASSENGER REACHED OVER & TURNED THE IGNITION SWITCH TO OFF. I WAS ABLE THEN TO BRAKE THE CAR TO A STOP A FEW FEET FROM A CONCRETE CULVERT. THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL OF MY CAR WAS FOLDED APPROXIMATELY 45 DEGREE ANGLE AND THE ENTIRE FRONT END WAS DOWN ON THE GROUND. THE LEFT FRONT TIRE HAD BLOWN OUT. NEITHER CAR WAS DRIVEABLE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS CAR HAS FAILED ON TURNING OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED. FURTHER, THE BRAKE WEAR INDICATOR HAD BEGUN SQUELING RECENTLY. THE CAR HAD 13040 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. IT WAS PURCHASED ONE YEAR EARLIER. WILLARD FERGUSON
TRANSMISSION WENT OUT 2 TIMES IN 1 YEAR. DRIVER AIRBAG SHIFTED ON ITS OWN. REAR PASSENGER DOOR DOES NOT UNLOCK/OPEN. FRONT BALL JOINT CRACKED. GAS COVER/DOOR FELL OFF. THE SMELL OF GAS INSIDE CAR AT ALL TIMES. BLINKER WOULD NOT TURN OFF BY ITSELF. KEY CHIME GOES OFF WHEN THE KEY IS OUT. *JB
HORN FAILURE AFTER DRIVING THROUGH NORMAL RAIN (NO SUBMERSION) ON ROADWAYS. HAS OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND HORN ASSEMBLIES HAVE BEEN REPLACED. *AK HEAT SHIELD ON CATALYTIC CONVERTOR FELL OFF DUE TO CORROSION NEAR MOUNTING BOLT HOLES.
MY FOCUS HAS ONLY 30,000 MILES AND THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN SERVICED FOUR TIMES FOR THE SAME REASON. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS DO TO THE EXCESSIVE WARPING AND WEARING. FIXED NUMEROUS TIMES, AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THE FOCUS, BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN MADE TO NOTIFY THE PROBLEM. I GUESS FORD IS WAITING FOR A FEW FATALITIES BEFORE ADDRESSING THE ISSUE. SAD BUT TRUE. WELCOME TO CORPORATE AMERICA! *LA

2002 FORD FOCUS SE ENGINE STALLED.*MR CONSUMER HAD THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED EXPECTING TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. ONCE THE CONSUMER ARRIVED AT THE GAS STATION AND BEGAN TO FILL THE GAS TANK THERE WAS A PUDDLE OF OIL UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE, IT WAS THEN DETERMINED THE DEALER INSTALLED THE GAS TANK INCORRECTLY WHICH CAUSED THE LEAK. *TS. ON THE THIRD OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE STALLED AND RESTARTED AND THE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/COOLING SYSTEM LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD AND THEN WENT OFF. *JB
WHEN SHIFTING MY SIX SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION INTO FIRST GEAR, IT OFTEN GOES INTO REVERSE. THIS TRANSMISSION DOESN'T HAVE A LOCKOUT, BUT IT HAS SOME KIND OF SPRING RESISTANCE THAT CONSTANTLY FAILS, WHICH CAUSES YOU TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO REVERSE WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO PUT IT INTO FIRST GEAR. THIS ACTION HAS ALMOST CAUSED NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS AT STOP LIGHTS.*AK
ON 25 JULY 2002, I TOOK MY FOCUS TO A TIRE CENTER BEING REFERRED BY FORD DEALERSHIP UPON MY 30,000 MI. SERVICE. THIS IS IN REFERENCE TO PREMATURE TIRE WEAR ON THE SE LOW PROFILE TIRE/ RIM PACKAGE. I ASKED THE TIRE MANAGER TO CHECK THE TIRE AND BEFORE I TOLD HIM WHICH TIRE IT WAS HE WAS ABLE TO TELL ME WHICH TIRE IT WAS: LEFT REAR TIRE. HE STATED THAT IT WAS HIS 3RD FOCUS WITH THE PROBLEM. HE RAISED THE CAR AND SHOWED ME A LARGE CHUNK MISSING AND INCONSISTENT WEAR ON THE INSIDE EDGE OF THE TIRE. OTHER THREE TIRES ARE IN EXCELLENT SHAPE. NO ACCIDENTS WITH THIS VEHICLE IN AREA DESCRIBED. MANAGER STATED HE THINKS IT IS BEING CAUSED BY A MISSING OR SHEARED PIN. *AK
MY 2002 FORD FOCUS SE WAGON PURCHASED 1 YEAR AGO HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER OVER A WEEK. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING ;CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THEY ARE REPLACING IT. I WILL BE CONTACTING FORD MOTOR COMPANY AS I HAVE BEEN DRIVINF FORDS FOR THE LAST 17 YEARS. ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE DOOR LOCKS.*AK
LEFT REAR WHEEL TIPPING IN AT TOP SO MUCH THAT YOU COULD SEE IT BEFORE 3500 MILES. THIS CAUSES THE REAR END TO BE MUCH "LOOSER" THAN IS NORMAL OR ACEPTABLE. FORD PROVIDES NO ADJUSTMENT FOR CAMBER IN REAR AND THIS CAUSED LEFT REAR TIRE TO HAVE A CUPPING PATTERN ON THE INSIDE EDGE. APPARENTLY IF THE CAMBER ISN'T CORRECT TO BEGIN IT WILL THROW OFF THE WHOLE ALIGNMENT. ONE DEALER CHECKED AND SAID IT WAS IN SPEC. AT 15,000 MI. FOUND DEALER WHO UNDERSTOOD THE PROBLEM AND INSTALLED A JUST RELEASED SHIM KIT. FORD REFUSING TO COVER KIT, ALIGNMENT, OR TIRE UNDER " BUMPER-TO-BUMPER" WARRANTY (TRYING TO CLAIM IT IS A NORMAL WEAR ITEM, OR A TIRE PROBLEM, OTHER TIRES ARE FINE!). HAD TO PAY $142 + TIRE SO THAT THE REAR END DOESN'T COME AROUND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.*AK
I BOUGHT MY FORD FOCUS ZX5 ON OCTOBER OF 2002. A MONTH AFTER I HAD IT I TOOK IT THROUGH THE CAR WASH AND IT STALLED. EVER SINCE THEN I HAD HAVE PROBLEMS STARTING IT. I BROUGHT IT IN AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. ON JULY 21, 2003 CAR STALLED GOING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION WITH ON-COMING TRAFFIC, I GOT THE CAR TO START AND I BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AGAIN THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. THEY REFERRED ME TO THE DISPUTE SETTLEMENT BOARD. I FILLED OUT ALL THE INFORMATION AND SUBMITTED IT. ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2003 THE BOARD DECIDED THAT THEY DID NOT FIND A PROBLEM SO I HAD A FORD ENGINEER COME OUT. HE FINALLY CAME OUT IN OCTOBER AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE. I TRIED TO GET RID OF THIS VEHICLE BUT I OWE $10,000.00 MORE THAN IT IS WORTH. PLEASE HELP. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO.*AK
I HAVE A 2002 FORD FOCUS ZX5 4 DR HATCHBACK MY PROBLEMS STARTED ON 7/21/03 WHEN MY BRAKES LIGHTS, HEADLIGHTS, TURN SIGNAL AND RADIO STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER NOW THE RADIO WILL NO LONGER RESPONSE TO ME TURNING THE VOL. UP OR DOWN AS WELL AS I ONLY ONLY SET THE TIME ON MILITARY TIME. NOW ON 9/7 MY BRAKES HAVE STARTED TO GRIND. ON 9/11 MY CAR NOW VIBRATES WHEN I ACCERATE AT 60 MPH +. IN THE PAST WEEK I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT MY CAR WILL ACCELLERATE AND HESITATE WHEN IN MOTION. IN THE LAST THREE MONTHS MY GAS MILEAGE HAS SLOWLY DECLINED AS WELL. I AM TAKING IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP TONIGHT - BUT THOUGHT I NEED TO REPORT. SEEMS THERE ARE MANY OTHERS LIKE ME.
I HAVE DRIVEN MY FORD FOCUS SE WAGON NOW FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS. IT IS A COMPANY CAR FOR WHICH I DRIVE APPROXIMATELY 50,000MILES PER YEAR. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR TIRES THREE TIMES SINCE RECEIVING THE VEHICLE DECEMBER 2001. EVERY 20,000 MILES THE REAR ALIGNMENT GETS LOOSE AND ESPECIALLY IN WINTER DRIVING ON WET PAVEMENT, I FEAR FOR MY LIFE BECAUSE WHEN I CANNOT TRAVEL AT THE SPEEDS OF SURROUNDING TRAFFIC FLOW. THERE IS A VIBRATION IN THE REAR TIRES CAUSED POSSIBLY TO A BENT FRAME OR POOR DESIGN. I HAVE NEVER REPLACED THE FRONT TIRES OR EVEN ROTATED THEM SINCE NEW! THEY ARE STILL PLENTY ADEQUATE FOR TRACTION. THE REAR ALIGNMENT PROBLEM SEVERELY HAMPERS THE FUEL ECONOMY OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT FEELS AS THOUGH I AM DRAGGING THE REAR END AROUND EVERYWHERE I GO. I AM TURNING THE VEHICLE IN THIS NEXT MONTH FOR A REPLACEMENT AND I HAVE DECIDED I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A FORD VEHICLE AGAIN DUE TO THE HISTORY OF BAD LUCK I HAVE HAD WITH FORDS IN THE PAST.
SEVERE CREAKING/RUBBING SOUND COMING FROM REAR DOOR ON DRIVER'S SIDE OF VEHICLE. NOISE OCCURS WHILE DRIVING AT ALL SPEEDS. SOUNDS AS THOUGH DOOR IS OUT OF ALIGNMENT OR IMPROPERLY MOUNTED. DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR THE PROBLEM ON TWO OCCASSIONS (4 DAYS TOTAL OUT OF SERVICE), AND HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX. DEALER MOST RECENTLY STATED THAT SOME CREAKING IS NORMAL DUE TO FLEXING/TWISTING OF FRAME OF VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. CREAKING/RUBBING, MEANWHILE, IS GETTING WORSE.*AK
CONSUMER STATED THAT AFTER HITTING A POTHOLE THE TIRE ON THE RIGHT CAME APART FROM THE WHEEL. AFTER CAREFULL INSPECTION CONSUMER FOUND ALL OF THE WHEELS ON VEHICLE WERE BENT. *AK
I HAVE EXPERIENCED PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM SINCE PURCHASING MY 2002 SVT FOCUS. RANDOM STALLS, LEAKS, AND NOISES. SHIFT LINKAGE FAILURE, WHEEL BEARING FAILURE, POWER WINDOW PROBLEMS. INTAKE MANIFOLD FAILURE, WRONG IDLE SPEED, LOSS OF ELECTRICAL POWER. 35 DAYS IN THE SHOP SO FAR AND COUNTING, ALL WITHIN 11MO OF PURCHASE. DON'T BUY A FORD CAR, YOU'LL REGRET IT.
FORD FOCUS 2002 ZX5 WITH 16" ALLOY WHEELS AND FIRESTONE TIRES SEEMS TO BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO ROAD HAZARD DAMAGE MORE THAN OTHER CARS I HAVE HAD. ONE BUBBLED TIRE, AND ANOTHER PUNCTURED TIRE WITHIN WEEKS OF EACH OTHER. THE FOCUS ALLOY WHEELS ARE THE WORSE PROBLEMS. AT LEAST TWO HAVE BEEN BENT TO THE POINT OF CAUSING STEERING AND VIBRATION PROBLEMS ON CAR. ONE WHEEL HAS TWO VISIBLE BUMPS, AND ONE WHEEL HAS A MASSIVE BUMP FROM SOME SURPRISE ROAD HOLES. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR THAT HAD SUCH WEAK RIMS. I AM NOT REPLACING THE WHEELS UNTIL I TALK TO EITHER FORD OR A LAWYER.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN SEPTEMBER. THE FIRST PROBLEM THE CAR HAD WAS THAT THE POLLEN FILTER BECAME BLOCKED AND IT HAD BEEN RAINING OUT SO ALL THE WATER FROM OUTSIDE CAME RIGHT INTO MY CAR AND I GOT ABOUT AN INCH OF WATER IN THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR ALL OVER THE FLOOR. THE ENXT THING THAT HAPPENED WAS MY DRIVER SIDE FRONT TIRE BLEW WHILE DRIVING DOWN A ROAD, THERE WERE NO POTHOLES AND NO CURBS THAT I COULD HAVE HIT FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. ABOUT A MONTH AFTER THIS I NOTICED THAT THE PLASTIC HAD STARTED BUBBLING UP AND PEELING ON THE LOWER B PILLAR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR, ALSO THE CARPET HAD COME UNGLUED (FROM WHEN MY CAR FLOODED) AND HAD NOW PULLED AWAY FROM THE SILL. ALSO, THE WETHERSTRIPPING HAD COME UNGLUED FROM THE WINDSHIEL AND YOU CAN NOW SEE THE SHARP EDGE OF THE WINDSHEILD. MY CAR IS IN SERVICE TODAY GETTING THAT FIXED. THERE IS ALSO, STILL A RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM WHERE THE SPEEDOMETER IS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND HAS NOT STOPPED. HOWEVER, EVERY TIME I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, IT DOES NOT MAKE THIS NOISE, SO THEY CANNOT FIX IT.

FORD FOCUS IS NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD AND FRONT LEFT RIM IS STARTING TO BEND, WHICH IS CAUSING THE TIRE TO BUBBLE. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID EVEN THOUGH UNDER WARRANTY THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE TIRE. THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT WORK WITH US WHAT SO EVER. I BELIEVE THE RIM AND THE TIRE IS A DEFECT. I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN AT 15-20 MPH AND FELT THE FRONT END DIPPED THEN THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED OUT OF MY HANDS AND THE CAR DROVE INTO A CURB CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGE.*AK
SINCE 7/7/03 MY 2002 ZX5 FORD FOCUS HAS STALLED AND NOT RESTARTED RIGHT AWAY AT LEAST 15 TIMES. I'VE HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP 5 TIMES. THEY HAVE HAD IT THERE FOR 50 DAYS SINCE 7/7/03. EACH TIME EXCEPT THIS LAST ONE THEY CLAIM THEY FIND WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT ON THE COMPUTER AND DO THE REPAIR. IT HAS ALL BEEN UNDER WARRANTY. I WORK AT NIGHT, I'VE STALLED IN FRONT OF ON COMING TRAFFIC, I HAVE STALLED GOING 35 MILES AN HOUR, I HAVE STALLED ON A BLIND CORNER. I'VE HAD TO WALK HOME MANY OF THESE TIMES AT 3 OR 4 IN THE MORNING AND LEAVE THE CAR IN AN UNSAFE POSITION. *JB
AT 14053 MILES, THE ROTORS ON MY 2002 FORD FOCUS HAD TO BE REMACHINED, NOW AT 20K MILES, I HAVE TO HAVE THE SAME BRAKE PROBLEM FIXED AGAIN. OBVIOUSLY THE ROTORS ARE EITHER SUBSTANDARD OR DEFECTIVE AND OR THERE IS A LARGER PROBLEM, MASTER CYLINDER ETC. ALSO THE REAR BRAKES TEND TO LOCK UP PERIODICALLY.1ST INCIDENT-JAN 03.*AK
CONTAMINATION IN FUEL TANK CAUSING ENGINE PULSING AND NEAR STALLING AT LOW SPEEDS IN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. FUEL FROM FUEL FILTER TANK SIDE INTAKE IS BROWN, ALMOST THE COLOR OF TEA, FROM CONTAMINATION. DEALER MECHANIC, SERVICE TECH, AND SERVICE MANAGER CLAIM THE CONTAMINATION IN THE PLASTIC TANK IS FROM BAD GAS. I DISPUTED THIS CLAIM AND INFORMED THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT I'VE BEEN HAVING THESE ENGINE PROBLEMS SINCE A MONTH OR SO AFTER TAKING DELIVERY OF THE VEHICLE AND THEY'VE BECOME STEADILY WORSE.*AK

FORD FOCUS 2003 ZX5 WITH 16" ALLOY WHEELS AND FIRESTONE TIRES SEEMS TO BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO ROAD HAZARD DAMAGE MORE THAN OTHER CARS I HAVE HAD. ONE BUBBLED TIRE, AND ANOTHER PUNCTURED TIRE WITHIN WEEKS OF EACH OTHER.*AK THE FOCUS ALLOY WHEELS ARE THE WORSE PROBLEMS. AT LEAST TWO HAVE BEEN BENT TO THE POINT OF CAUSING STEERING AND VIBRATION PROBLEMS ON CAR. ONE WHEEL HAS TWO VISIBLE BUMPS, AND ONE WHEEL HAS A MASSIVE BUMP FROM SOME UNKNOWN ROAD HOLES. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR THAT HAD SUCH WEAK RIMS. I AM NOT REPLACING THE WHEELS UNTIL I TALK TO EITHER FORD OR A LAWYER.

I BOUGHT MY 19 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER A NEW FOCUS BECAUSE I FELT NEW CARS WERE SAFER AND MORE RELIABLE. TODAY, SHE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. SHE HAS HAD ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES MAKING NOISE AND NOT BEING RESPONSIVE. ON HER WAY TO HAVE THEM LOOKED AT AGAIN, SHE MADE A LEFT ONTO A MAJOR ROAD AND THE TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF HER WAS AT A DEAD STOP. IT WAS THE RAV 4 IN FRONT OF HER, NOT HER BRAKES, THAT STOPPED HER CAR DEAD. THANKFULLY, NO ONE WAS HURT. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, THE AIRBAG I FELT WOULD PROTECT HER DID NOT DEPLOY. HOW MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE TO BE SUBMITTED BEFORE THINGS GET ADDRESSED BY A MANUFACTURER? TO THINK I BOUGHT MY ONLY DAUGHTER A CAR WITH UNRELIABLE BRAKES AND AIRBAGS THAT DON'T WORK. WHILE DRIVING A "POP" NOISE WAS HEARD AND VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING. IT LOOKED LIKE THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS COMING OFF OR LOOSENED. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER. NO DETERMINATION OF THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN MADE. *AK
I HAVE A 2002 FORD FOCUS SE WAGON. THE FRONT FOOT WELLS FILL UP WITH WATER IN RAINY CONDITIONS. *AK
MY 2002 FORD FOCUS WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION. THE IMPACT OF THE CRASH WAS ALL ON THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE MOTOR WAS SHOVED BACK AND THE VEHICLE HAD SO MUCH DAMAGE IT COULDN'T BE REPAIRED. THE CAR WAS CONSIDERED A TOTAL LOSS BY MY INSURANCE PROVIDER. MY CAR WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 40 MPH ON IMPACT AND THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. MY DAUGHTER HIT HER CHEST AGAINST THE STEERING WHEEL AND IS STILL HAVING SOME LASTING EFFECTS OF THE CRASH. PLEASE! PLEASE! LOOK INTO THIS. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE PA TURNPIKE GOING 60 MPH IN MY 2002 FORD FOCUS. I HAD JUST PASSED A COP AND HAVE WITNESSES THAT I WAS NOT SPEEDING OR DRIVING ERRATICALLY. IT WAS 8:30 IN THE MORNING AND MY CAR SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER. MY RPM'S DROPPED AND I WAS LOOSING MY SPEED. (THIS HAPPENED ONE MONTH PRIOR AND I TOOK IT TO FORD. THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND TWO OTHER PARTS ON WARRANTY) I HAD TO GET TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER, WHICH HAD A WALL RIGHT AFTER IT, BECAUSE I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE WHERE THERE WAS A WALL DIRECTLY TO MY LEFT. IN TRYING TO CROSS THE CAR LOST TRACTION ON THE ROAD AND SHOT ME HEAD FIRST INTO THE WALL. HEAD FIRST AT 55 MPH AND MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CAR HAS BEEN DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS AND FOR THE PAST TEN DAYS I HAVE BEEN IN UNBELIEVABLE PAIN, TO THE ER 3 TIMES. NOW I HAVE PHYSICAL THERAPY FOR ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE HOPEFULLY EVERYTHING IS BETTER. I AM A 19 YEAR OLD FEMALE AND I DON'T WANT TO SEE ANYBODY ELSE HURT IN THIS SORT OF ACCIDENT. I HAVE AN ATTORNEY AND I SUGGEST ANYONE WITH A FOCUS HAVE ONE ON HAND. I WANT EVERYONE TO READ THIS BEFORE THEY BUY ONE! MY NEXT STEP IS TO CONTACT MAGAZINES AND TELEVISION SHOWS.
