INTERMITTENTLY CAR WILL SEEM TO SHORT OUT FOR SPLIT SECONDS. IF I LET IT IDLE ALL IS OK BUT AS I APPLY THE GAS THE SPLIT SECOND SHORT COMES BACK. THIS CAN HAPPEN AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND SOMETIMES IF I GO OVER SOME BUMPS ALL BECOMES OK. FRIEND WITH A MADZA3 HAD SIMILAR PROBLEM HAT WAS FIXED BY CHANGING THE SOLENOID. *TR
KEY GOT STUCK IN IGNITION AND WON'T COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. HAD TO LOCK KEY IN CAR AND USE REMOTE TO LOCK CAR. SECOND INCIDENCE OF THIS ON HERE SO LOOKS LIKE IT COULD BE A RECALL IN THE FUTURE FOR THE 2005 FORD FOCUS. *TR
FUEL GAUGE STICKS. THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATES THAT THE TANK IS HALF FULL AND THEN WILL DROP IMMEDIATELY TO EMPTY AND THE EMERGENCY FUEL LOW INDICATOR TURNS ON. *TR
I JUST HAD MY ROTORS AND BRAKES REPLACED, BUT THEY CANNOT FIND OUT WHY THEY ARE WEARING OUT SO SOON. WE ARE TALKING 3<MONTHS. THEY SAID THERE IS NO ISSUE, BUT I NOW HAVE PROOF THERE IS. WE HAVE ANOTHER FOCUS THAT I TOOK TO THE STREET I LIVE ON. I GOT UP TO 30MPH AND COASTED TO A CERTAIN PLACE NEAR THE END OF THE STREET. THE FOCUS WITH NO ISSUE WAS STILL GOING 23MPH AT THAT LOCATION. I DID THE SAME THING WITH THE ONE I JUST HAD THE ROTARS AND BRAKES REPLACED ON. ON THAT ONE I WAS ONLY GOING 5MPH. AS SOON AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES DRIVING IT BACK I KNEW THERE WAS AN ISSUE. I WAS NOT ABLE TO PUSH THE BRAKES DOWN NEAR AS FAR AS I COULD ON THE GOOD FOCUS. WHEN IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRENTY, THEY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER WHICH HELPED SOME, BUT DID NOT COMPELETELY FIX THE ISSUE. THE WARRENTY COMPANY ALSO REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE ROTATION OF THE ROTERS AND BRAKES EVEN THOUGH THE FORD DEALERSHIP MECHANICS TOLD THEM IT WAS DUE TO THE MASTER CYLINDER BEING THE PROBLEM, SO I HAD TO PAY FOR THAT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR DOOR HANDLES WERE DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT ALL FOUR DOOR HANDLES WERE REPLACED. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE OF RECALL NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 05V030000 (LATCHES, LOCKS, LINKAGE). HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED ON THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION SWITCH OF MY 2005 FORD FOCUS. I HAVE PURCHASED A NEW KEY AND THE KEY STILL GETS STUCK. I HAVE SPENT $453 AND THE KEY STILL GETS STUCK. *TR
2005 FORD FOCUS WAGON. HAVE EXPERIENCED AT LEAST 4 IF NOT 5 WHEEL BEARINGS REPLACED. ONLY 1 OF THOSE FOR FRONT RIGHT WHEEL. 120,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. STARTED WAY PRIOR TO THAT MILEAGE. *TR
O/D LIGHT CAME ON. AUTOMOTIVE SHOP RAN A TEST AND RETRIEVED CODE P0767. SHOP REPLACED THE SOLENOID AND CAR WOULD STILL NOT SHIFT INTO 2ND GEAR. SHOP WANTED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION BUT I DECLINED AS THE CAR ONLY HAD 52,000 MILES. TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO 2ND OR 4TH GEAR. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A POSSIBLE BROKEN BAND OR FAILED BAND APPLY PISTON. THEY REMOVED THE PAN AND VERIFIED BROKEN BAND. THEY REPLACED THE 2-4 BAND AND INSTALLED NEW BAND APPLY PISTON AT A COST OF $931.22 PLUS THE COST OF A RENTAL CAR AT $101.16. NO CAR SHOULD HAVE A TRANSMISSION FAIL AT 50,000 MILES. I FEEL THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THE PARTS USED IN THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN I ASKED ABOUT INSTALLING A NEW TRANSMISSION, I WAS CONCERNED THAT THEY WOULD INSTALL THE SAME TRANSMISSION THAT FAILED IN MY CAR. THE SHOP SAID NOT TO WORRY BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION HAS ALL UPDATED PARTS! THE RESPONSE LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE PARTS IN MY TRANSMISSION WERE DEFECTIVE AND I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED THE COST OF MY REPAIRS. I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND SINCE THERE WAS NOT A RECALL THEY COULD NOT HELP ME. AGAIN, NO CAR SHOULD HAVE A TRANSMISSION FAIL AT 50,000 MILES. *TR
HATCH WIRING HARNESS FATIGUED AND DEVELOPED BROKEN WIRES IN THE BEND AREA OF THE WIRING HARNESS CAUSING A SHORT CIRCUIT. THIS RESULTED IN LOSS OF STOP LAMP FUNCTION & HARNESS BURNING. *TR
EXCESSIVE HEAT FROM TAILLIGHT/BRAKELIGHT BULB CAUSED PLASTIC HOUSING TO DISTORT AND BRAKE LIGHTS FUSE TO BURN OUT, CAUSING LOSS OF REAR BRAKE LIGHTS. POTENTIAL FOR REAR END COLLISION & WIRING FIRE. AFTER FUSE WAS REPLACED, WIRING SMOLDERED UNTIL NEW FUSE ALSO BURNED OUT. *TR
I'M HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR HESITATING WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS REPEATEDLY HAPPENED. I HAVE A LITTLE OVER 90,300 MILES ON THE CAR. IT REALLY SCARES ME WHEN I'M GOING AT LEAST 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND PRESS THE GAS TO ACCELERATE AND THEN GET THE HESITATION OR PULLBACK AS IF IT IS GOING TO CUT OFF. I'M AFRAID IT IS GOING TO CUT OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING IT. IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN I'M DRIVING 35 MPH. WHEN THIS HAPPENS AND I CUT THE CAR AND START IT BACK UP, THE CLOCK RESETS TO 12:00 AND THE RADIO COMES ON BLASTING. MY LIGHTS FLICKER WHEN IT HAPPENS AT NIGHT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP MODULE. THIS HAS NOT HELPED ONE BIT AND I AM OUT $462. THEY HAVE QUOTED ME A PRICE OF $1500 IF THE FUEL PUMP MODULE REPLACEMENT DID NOT WORK. THEY TELL ME IT WILL PROBABLY BE THE PCM THAT NEEDS REPLACING. *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT LOCK WITH REMOTE OR MANUALLY WITH ROCKER SWITCH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DOOR WAS DIFFICULT TO OPEN. ALSO, THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR WOULD NOT REMAIN CLOSED UNLESS THE CHILD SAFETY FUNCTION WAS ACTIVATED. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INCLUDED IN RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V030000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH). THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
MY CAR IS COVERED UNDER THE CA EMISSIONS WARRANTY, THERE IS A HOLE IN THE MANIFOLD. THE FORD DEALER HAS HAD MY CAR SINCE MAY 2010 CLAIMING THEY CAN'T GET THE PART COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY TO FIX MY CAR. IT HAS BEEN 9 MONTHS AND THEY KEEP POSTPONING THE DATE TO RECEIVE THE PART. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FOCUS ZX4. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE BRAKING FROM UNKNOWN SPEEDS IN RAINY WEATHER, THE BRAKES LOCKED AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND PROCEEDED TO CRASH INTO A FENCE AND THEN COLLIDE WITH THE CURB. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,000
THE STEERING WHEEL HAS BEEN FALL APART THE LAST TEN YEARS, AND YOUR NOT COVERING IT. IS THAT NOTHER FORD BETTER IDEA?
I NOTICED THE GAS PEDAL OF MY CAR (FORD FOCUS 2005) WAS HARD TO PRESS WHEN THE WEATHER IS FREEZING COLD. AT TIMES, I FORCED IT THROUGH. A COUPLE OF TIMES, WE LUBRICATE THE CABLE AND IT WORKED FINE. YESTERDAY, I SPEEDED UP TO PASS THE CAR WHICH WAS TOO SLOW IN FRONT OF ME. THEN, MY CAR ACCELERATED ITSELF AND I COULD HARDLY STOP. I ALMOST WRECKED INTO A CAR IN FRONT OF ME AT A STOP LIGHT. I MANAGED TO STOP THE CAR BUT THE BREAK WAS BATTLING WITH THE ENGINE. WHEN I LET GO OF THE BREAK, THE CAR ACCELERATED ITSELF. SO, I HAD TO USE MY BREAK A LOT TO REACH A LOCAL MECHANICS. HE LUBRICATED THE CABLE AND TOLD ME THAT THE CABLE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I WENT TO FORD DEALERSHIP TODAY AND THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THAT THE CABLE HAD TO BEEN REPLACED. IT WOULD COST ME AROUND $300.00 INCLUDING LABOR. LATER, THE MECHANIC AT FORD SHOWED ME THE CABLE. PART OF THE CABLE WAS CONCEALED INSIDE A PLASTIC TUBE AND THIS PART WAS ALL MESSED UP AND KEEP BREAKING OFF. BECAUSE OF THE INCREASE IN THE DIAMETER OF THE CABLE AFTER I PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL, THE CABLE WOULD NOT GO BACK ONCE IT WAS OUT. THEREFORE, MY CAR KEPT ACCELERATING YESTERDAY. I AGREED WITH FORD TO FIX IT AT MY COST BUT I AM ANXIOUS ABOUT THE CAR QUALITY AS WELL OTHER PEOPLE'S SAFETY. I COULD HAVE A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT IF I WAS NOT CALM ENOUGH. *TR
KEY STUCK IN IGNITION AND WILL NOT LOCK INTO KEY POSITION #; THEREFORE, GEAR SHIFT WILL NOT LOCK APPROPRIATELY WHEN CAR IS OFF. *TR
OUR KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION OF OUR CAR. WE CAN"T GET IT OUT. I'M AFRAID THAT WE MAY HAVE OUR CAR STOLEN BECAUSE WE HAVE TO LEAVE THE KEY PERMANENTLY IN THE IGNITION
BOTH THE FRONT AND BACK DRIVERS SIDE DOORS CAN BE LOCKED EITHER ELECTRONICALLY WITH THE REMOTE OR MANUALLY BY HAND. THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR HANDLE WONT OPERATE FROM THE OUTSIDE. IT HAS BEEN FIXED TWICE ALREADY AND NOW BROKEN FOR A THIRD TIME. THIS SEEMS TO BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEMS WITH THE 02-08 FOCUS. A LITTLE GOOGLING WILL SHOW JUST HOW OFTEN THIS HAPPENS. *TR
THE DECKLID WIRE HARNESS HAS FATIGUED BREAKING 2 INTERNAL WIRES IN THE BEND AREA. AS A CONSEQUENCE, REAR WINDSHIELD WIPER AND DECKLID LATCH REMOTE RELEASE FUNCTION ARE LOST. BECAUSE IT IS IN THE SAME HARNESS, LOOSING STOP LAMP, DEFROST OR VEHICLE REGISTRATION LAMP FUNCTIONS IT JUST A MATTER OF TIME. THIS FAILURE MODE HAS ALREADY BEEN DESCRIBED ONLY THAT WITH A DIFFERENT EFFECT (LOSS OF STOP LAMP). PLEASE REFER TO YOUR CAMPAIGN ID: 00V411000. *TR
COULD NOT GET KEY TO RELEASE FROM THE IGNITION OF MY 2005 FORD FOCUS. HAD TO LEAVE CAR UNLOCKED, WITH KEY IN IGNITION OVERNIGHT. STILL CANNOT RELEASE KEY. A CHILD COULD GET INTO THE CAR AND START IT UP WITH TRAGIC CONSEQUENCES. MANY REPORTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT FORD FOCUS IGNITION CYLINDER PROBLEMS, INCLUDING KEY-LOCK ISSUES. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER WHO WORKS IN RETAIL MANAGEMENT, AND I GET OUT LATE AT NIGHT FROM WORK QUITE OFTEN. IF MY KEY LOCKS UP, I COULD BE STRANDED IN A DARKENED LOT AND VULNERABLE TO CRIME. FORD IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, HAD BEEN FOR YEARS, AND HAS NOT TAKEN ACCOUNTABILITY FOR IT. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INEXCUSABLE FOR A MAJOR CORPORATION.. *TR
2005 FORD FOCUS ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK WHILE DRIVING. DELEARSHIP, BILL BROWN FORD OF LIVONIA MI, DETERMINED THE CAUSE WAS THROTTLE BODY BINDING, SO REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. *TR
FORD FOCUS 2005- THE KEY WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION, AFTER PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK, AND TURNING THE IGNITION OFF. I TOOK IT TO FORD, AND THEY CHARGED ME $300 FOR REPLACE THE IGNITION CYLINDER. THEY SAID THEY WERE 90% SURE IT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. WELL, IT DIDN'T. IT IS STILL HAPPENING. THEY NOW SAY MAYBE IT'S SOME CABLE, BUT IT WILL COST $450 TO FIX IT. THEY ALSO REFUSE TO APPLY THE $300 FOR THE LAST UNNECESSARY FIX TO THIS FIX. I SEE ON THE INTERNET THAT THOUSANDS OF FOCUS OWNERS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM. *TR
THE IGNITION KEY STICKS IN MY 2005 FORD FOCUS. IT CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET REVEALS THAT THIS A COMMON PROBLEM. IT HAS TO DO WITH SHIFTER CABLE THAT COSTS $650. IS IT SAFE? I AM NOT CERTAIN. I AM NOT SURE WHETHER THE SHIFT IS LOCKING ADEQUATELY. WHY HASN'T FORD RECALLED THIS PROBLEM? *TR

2005 FORD FOCUS PASSANGER SIDE A ARM BOLT HOLDING THE A ARM TO THE WHEEL LOSSEND AND JUST ONE BOLT FELL OUT ON THE ROAD CAUSING THE TIRE AND THE REMAINDER OF THE FRONT WHEEL ASSEMBLY TO JAM UNDER THE FENDER PULLING THE AXLE OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION STOPPING THE CAR THANKFULL THAT THE CAR WAS GOING SLOW AND STOPPED AND NOT ON A FREEWAY AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THIS CAR HAS ONLY 39171 MILES AND HAD BEEN TO THE FORD DEALER FREQUENT FOR A NOISE PROBLEM THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND THE NOISE AND NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM. THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN THE FAMILY AND HAS NOT BEEN ABUSED COMMENTS WERE MADE AT THE REPAIR SHOP AS TO THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE THE LACK OF ONE BOLT CAUSED AND THAT LUCKY AS TO THE SPEED TO WHICH IT CAME APART THIS EVENT COULD HAVE BEEN ALOT WORSE. THE SPEED WAS ABOUT 25 MPH GOING THRU A ROUNDABOUT TRAFFIC SIGNAL NORTH BOUND AND CONTINUING TO THE NORTH MAKING A RIGHT STARTING IN THE ROUND ABOUT THEN A LEFT IN THE ROUNDABOUT AND A RIGHT LEAVING THE ROUNDABOUT THE WHEEL JAMED UNDER THE FENDER STOPPING THE CAR IN ITS TRACKS JUST CLEARING THE ROUNDABOUT GOT OUT TO INSPECT THE REASON THE CAR STOPPED AND THE PASSANGER WHEEL WAS TURNED RIGHT AND UNDER THE FENDER THE LEFT WHEEL WAS FACING CORRECT STRAIGHT AHEAD. *CN

I AM THE OWNER OF A FORD FOCUS 2005 AUTOMATIC. THERE HAS BEEN NUMEROUS INSTANCES OF THE IGNITION KEY STUCK IN THE IGNITION SINCE JANUARY 2010. AN AUTO LOCKSMITH WAS CONTACTED KEY REMOVED AND IGNITION LINE REPLACED. LOCKSMITH REVEALED THAT IT IS A REGULAR OCCURRENCE IN THE FORD FOCUS IGNITION UNIT. JULY 2010 CAR LOSS POWER AND CARBURETOR REPLACED. JULY 2010: IGNITION KEY STUCK AGAIN; DIFFICULTY IN ENGINE TURNING OVER. IGNITION KEY WAS ABLE TO BE REMOVE ONE WEEK LATER. PRESENTLY, IGNITION KEY IS ONCE AGAIN STUCK UNABLE TO BE REMOVED AND THE ENGINE SOUNDS SLUGGISH. *TR
2005 FORD FOCUS HAS BACK DOOR THAT NO LONGER LOCKS (POWER LOCKS). DEALER STATES DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR NEEDS REPLACING ($400.00). WENT ON INTERNET TO SEE ACTUAL COST OF PART AND HOW INVOLVED TO FIX. AMAZED TO FIND THE NUMBER OF CASES WHERE LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE GONE OUT ON FORD FOCUS. SOME PEOPLE HAVE GOTTEN LOCKED IN THEIR CARS AND HAD TO CLIMB OUT WINDOWS OR OUT THEIR TRUNK. OUR CONCERN IS THAT SOMEONE COULD CRAWL INTO THE BACK OF OUR 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER'S VEHICLE AND ATTACK HER - BECAUSE HERS IS STUCK IN THE UNLOCKED POSITION. OR WHAT IF THE OTHER DOORS GET STUCK IN LOCKED POSITION AND SHE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND COULDN'T GET OUT OF HER CAR.
THE CHROME CAPS COME OFF OF THE LUG NUTS. NOT ONLY IS THIS A SAFETY HAZARD FROM THE POINT OF BEING FLYING DEBRIS, BUT NOW YOU CAN'T CHANGE THE TIRES WITH THE INCLUDED TOOLS BECAUSE THE CAPLESS NUT REMNANT ISN'T ANY STANDARD SIZE. I HAD 1 LUG NUT REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THIS PAST WINTER, I LOST 4 CAPS, AND SEVERAL OTHERS ARE LOOSE. I AM TIRED OF DOING PRE-TRIP INSPECTIONS ON MY CAR TO PUSH THE LOOSE CAPS BACK ON, AND TO SEE HOW MANY MORE FLEW OFF ON MY LAST TRIP. *TR

THERE IS WATER LEAKING FROM MY CAR INTO THE ENGINE. IT IS SEEPING UNDER THE COWL. THIS IS CAUSING WATER TO GET INTO MY AIR FILTER AND CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH MY MAF SYSTEM. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN IT RAINS OR WHEN I WASH MY VEHICLE. I JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON NOV. 9 2009. I WAS NOT DISCLOSED OF THIS ISSUE. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT FOR REPAIR AS REPAIR COSTS ARE ASTRONOMICAL. I HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF OTHERS WITH THE SAME VEHICLE (FORD FOCUS) WITH WATER LEAK PROBLEMS. I OWN A 2005 FORD FOCUS. I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY CAR IN THE RAN BECAUSE IT HESITATES AND CAUSES THE ENGINE TO MISFIRE. I AM SCARED THAT IT WILL HAPPEN ON THE ROAD AND I WILL GET KILLED AND RAN OVER MY TRUCK OR SOMETHING. MY 2005 FORD FOCUS HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH KEY NOT TURNING IN THE IGNITION. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED TWICE DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. IN THE PAST THREE MONTHS I HAVE HAD THIS OCCUR OVER 8 TIMES BUT UNTIL RECENTLY THE CAR HAS EVENTUALLY STARTED. THIS LAST TIME THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO A SHOP. MY PARENTS WERE INVOLVED IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON 10/22/09, THEY WERE TRAVELING 57 MILES PER HOUR, HIT A LADY THAT PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF THEM, THEIR AIRBAGS NEVER WENT OFF, A DIRECT FRONT END HIT ON THEIR CAR (2005 FORD FOCUS) AND ALSO THE SEATBELTS BROKE. *TR
I OWN A 2005 FOCUS, 4 DOOR, ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO I NOTICED A SEVERE SHAKING IN THE CAR, AT IDOL AND WHILE DRIVING, TOOK THE CAR TO GET NEW BRAKES AND THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE MOTOR MOUNTS ARE BROKE, AND IR WOULD BE AT LEAST $500 TO FIX, HE ALSO TOLD ME THIS IS A COMMON THING IN THE FOCUS THAT THE MOUNTS WERE DEFECTIVE. CONSIDERING MY CAR HAS VERY LOW MILEAGE FOR BEING AN 05, 33,900, I DO NOT EXPECT TO HAVE TO FIX MAJOR PROBLEMS LIKE THIS. I DO NOT THINK MOTOR MOUNTS SHOULD BE SHRUGGED OFF AS "COMMON PROBLEM" THIS CAN BE A DANGER WHILE DRIVING AND I FEEL IT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED, AS TO WHY THE MOUNTS GO BAD SO QUICKLY. FORD FOCUS 2005, 20,000 MILES CAN NOT REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION DUE TO PROBLEM AFTER SHIFTING THE CAR INTO PARK. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AS WE HAVE DISCOVERED MANY OTHER OWNERS WITH FORD FOCUS FROM 200-2007 HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DANGEROUS ISSUE HERE IS THAT WE HAVE TO LEAVE THE CAR PARKED WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. EVEN THOUGH THE KEY CAN'T BE REMOVED IT CAN STILL START THE CAR AGAIN AND GO. THIS CAR IS LEFT OPEN FOR THIEVES TO STEAL. IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED AND IT IS AN EXPENSIVE FIX BY DEALERS SINCE IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY. WHY IF THERE ARE SO MANY SITES ON THE WEB WITH OWNERS LIKE MYSELF WITH THIS PROBLEM, NOT BEING ADDRESSED AS A RECALL BY FORD. *TR
IGNITION SWITCH WILL NOT TURN. IF CAR WAS STALLED IN TRAFFIC OR ON RAILWAY CROSSING SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES COULD ARISE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME WITH MY THREE BOYS WHEN OUR 2005 FORD FOCUS STARTED JERKING AND SPUTTERING, LOST POWER, AND DIED ON SOME RAILROAD TRACKS. MY HUSBAND AND I HAD IT TOWED TO GOODYEAR WHERE THEY SAID THE FUEL PUMP FUSE BLEW. THEY REPLACED THE FUSE AND SENT US ON OUR WAY. NOT EVEN A HALF HOUR LATER THE FUSE BLEW AGAIN. WE HAD IT TOWED BACK TO GOODYEAR WHERE THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND FILTER. NOT EVEN A WEEK LATER THE FUSE BLEW AGAIN. WE LET THE CAR SIT FOR A FEW DAYS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO. MY HUSBAND DECIDED TO REPLACE THE FUSE HIMSELF AND DRIVE IT TO SEE WHAT IT WOULD DO. WELL, THE CAR LOST POWER AND SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY OVER ANOTHER SET OF RAILROAD TRACKS. WE CALLED GOODYEAR TO BRING IT BACK, AND THEY REFUSED; SO WE HAD IT TOWED TO ANOTHER MECHANIC. THIS MECHANIC HAS AGAIN REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND TOLD US THE SYSTEM WAS FILTHY! THE FUEL PUMP JERKED DRAMATICALLY WHEN HE'D START IT, WHICH IS WHY HE REPLACED IT AGAIN. THE COMPUTER IS STILL SAYING THE MODULE IS BAD; SO HE ORDERED A NEW ONE FROM FORD, WHO AT FIRST CLAIMED THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT. THEY WOULDN'T EVEN TELL HIM WHERE IT WAS LOCATED; SO WHEN HE RECEIVES THE PART, HE'LL HAVE TO FIGURE IT OUT. WE DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH THIS IS GOING TO COST NOW. WITH GOODYEAR IT ALREADY COST US $600, WHICH THEY REFUSE TO REIMBURSE. I'VE CALLED FORD, AND THEY REFUSE TO HELP SAYING THERE'S NO RECALL ON THIS MODEL. I'VE LOOKED THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM UP, AND THE FUEL PUMP AND SYSTEM HAS BEEN RECALLED ON ALL FORD FOCUSES FROM 2000-2004. MY CAR WAS BUILT IN 2004! SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP US! MY KEY IS CURRENTLY STUCK IN MY IGNITION. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWO TIMES BEFORE. I WENT TO TAKE MY KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AFTER TURNING MY CAR OFF THE KEY COULD NOT BE REMOVED. IT HAS NOW BEEN OVER 2 MONTHS AND THE KEY WILL NOT COME OUT THE IGNITION. *TR
