UPON STARTING UP MY VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY ON THE DASH DISPLAY IT SAID 'STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQ'D' I AM NOT ABLE TO MOVE THE WHEEL OR DRIVE MY CAR WHATSOEVER. THE CAR IS USUALLY OKAY TO DRIVE ONCE RESTARTED, BUT THIS TIME IT WON'T GO AWAY THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS WHEN I JUST TOOK OFF FROM THE CURB AND WAS DRIVING FINE BUT WHEN I WENT TO TAKE A RIGHT TURN THE SAME PROMPT APPEARED AND THE STEERING WENT OUT COMPLETELY. LUCKILY I WAS ON A SIDE STREET SO I WAS ABLE TO RESTART MY CAR AND MOVE IT.
RECENTLY ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHEN I START MY CAR I HAVE NO STEERING AND I SEE A WARNING MESSAGE COME UP ON THE DASH THAT THE STEERING IS NOT FUNCTIONAL. WHEN I TURN THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTART, IT SEEMS TO WORK PROPERLY AGAIN. I AM SCARED THAT I AM GOING TO LOSE MY STEERING WHILE DRIVING.
WAS DRIVING HOME ON A FAIRLY BUSY STREET THEN SUDDENLY VEHICLE RANDOMLY STARTED TO JERK AND KICK WHILE ACCELERATING. WHEN ACCELERATING IN DRIVE, THE CAR WAS STUCK IN NEUTRAL AND THEN SUDDENLY JOLTED AND WENT TO FIRST GEAR THEN SECOND AND THEN BACK TO FIRST ALL IN A SPAN OF 20 SECONDS. THE RPM WAS ERRADICT AND RISED AND DROPPED DRAMATICALLY. COMING TO A STOP, THE CAR WOULD HESITATE AND CONTINUE TO MOVE FORWARD DESPITE BRAKING SO I HAD TO KEEP A WIDE DISTANCE FROM THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME FOR FEAR THAT THE CAR WILL LUNGE FORWARD UPON ACCELERATING OR TRYING TO STOP. I HAD TO DRIVE LESS THAN 20 MPH, ANY HIGHER AND THE CAR WAS KICKING AND JOLTING.
PCM/ECM SOFTWARE INADEQUATE TO DETECT A STUCK OPEN CANISTER PURGE VALVE(CPV) YES IT IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION UPON REQUEST. AFTER RECALL SERVICE WAS PERFORMED THE 2012 FORD FOCUS SE SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR.THE CAR STALLED.THE VEHICLE STOPPED COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. THE VEHICHLE SHOOT HAD NO POWER.THE MESSAGE CENTER DISPLAY SAID ENGINE MALFUNCTION,TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND STARTING SYSTEM FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK IMMEDIATELY TO THE FORD CERTIFIED SHOP.THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL RECALL SERVICE WAS PERFORMED. YES THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AGAIN .THERE WERENT ANY WARNING LAMPS OR MESSAGES OR ANY MECHANICAL OR ELECTRICAL OR SOFTWARE PROBLEMS .THE SYMPTOMS DID NOT BEGIN UNTIL AFTER RECALL SERVICE WAS PERFORMED BY A FORD CERTIFIED REPAIR FACILITY.FORD STATED IF THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED ANY ISSUES AFTER SERVICE WAS PERFORMED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK NTO WERE RECALL SERVICE WAS PERFORMED AND THE CAR WILL BE FIXED FREE OF CHARGE.THIS DID NOT HAPPEN THE CAR HAS 55 THOUSAND MILES ON IT .IT HAS SAT IN MY DRIVEWAY SINCE SEPTEMBER OF 2019. THE DOOR LATCHES COULD COME OPEN ON THEIR OWN.I WAS TOLD THAT RECALL SERVICE WAS PERFORMED ON MY 2012 FORD FOCUS SE BY THE FORD CERTIFIED MECHANIC FACILITY MIKE WHITE FORD OF CD'A IDAHO.IN FACT THEY NEVER PERFORMED THE BREPAIRS OR EVEN LOOKED AT THE DOORS.AFTER REPAIR WORK WAS SUPPOSEDLY DONE I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT SERVICE WAS NOT DONE AND TO TAKE MY CAR BACK TO THE SAME PLACE THAT DESTROYED MY CAR IN THE FIRST PLACE .FORD MOTOR COMPANY REFUSES TO DO AS THEIR RECALL LETTER STATED.FORD MOTOR COMPANY DENIES ANY FAULT CONCERNING MY 20123 FORD FOCUS .ITS BEEN ALMOST THREE YEARS OF ME TRYING TO GET MY CAR REPAIRED.THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY ABSOLUTELY KNEW THE 2012 FORD FOCUS HAD MAJOR ISSUES .THEY CHOSE TO SELL THE CAR TO THE CONSUMERS ANY WAY.
THIS CAR IS MY DAILY DRIVER, IT STILL ROLLS BACK ON AN INCLINE AND HESITATES ON TAKE OFF AND ACCELERATION.
TAKATA RECALL. I WAS LEAVING THE STORE WHEN MY STEERING LOCKED UP OUT OF NOWHERE. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL BACK INTO MY PARKING SPOT AND PARK, INSTEAD OF MY 7 YEAR OLD AND I DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD AND CRASHING. I HAVE SEEN 1000'S OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER DRIVERS AS WELL. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND WILL CAUSE ACCIDENTS FOR PEOPLE DRIVING AND CAN NOT TURN THE WHEEL ONCE IT LOCKS LIKE MYSELF. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ASAP BEFORE LIVES ARE LOST!
MOST ABILITY TO STEER. WHEEL LOCKED WHILE DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING FORD FOCUS ELECTRIC, CAR ALERTED ME TO STOP SAFELY NOW, WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNING. TYPICALLY THIS OCCURS WHEN THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR AND IT WAS UNEXPECTED WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. THE DEALER WHILE WORKING WITH FORD DETERMINED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *JS
MY WARRANTY EXPIRED AND I AM STILL EXPERIENCING CONSTANT SHUDDERING AND STALLING.
ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, SUDDENLY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, ENGINE RPM'S RACE WITH NO VEHICLE SPEED INCREASE.
MY CAR HAS, SINCE THE TIME I BOUGHT IT, STUTTERED RANDOMLY WHEN ACCELERATING. THIS HAS CAUSED ISSUES WHERE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC FROM A STOP CAN BE UNRELIABLE, CAUSING ME TO FAIL TO ENTER TRAFFIC AT THE EXPECTED SPEED AND CAUSING INCREASED RISK FOR A COLLISION. I THINK IT MIGHT BE A TRANSMISSION, SINCE IT FEELS LIKE A GEAR IS SLIPPING. EVENTUALLY, THROUGH THE STUTTERING, I WILL GAIN ENOUGH SPEED TO WHERE IT STOPS BEING AN ISSUE. (POSSIBLY WHEN ENTERING THE NEXT GEAR)
CAR SHUTTERED MID TRAFFIC LIGHT SO I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND IT JERKED BACK INTO SPEED AND I WAS GOING UNDER A HIGHWAY WHEN MY CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE ANYMORE AND STARTED JERKING AGAIN SO I PULLED INTO A GAS STATION AND REALIZED THAT I COULD NOT REVERSE EITHER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER WHILE DRIVING. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CROSSROADS FORD OF DUNN BENSON (1700 W. CUMBERLAND ST, DUNN, NC 28334), AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE (PSCM) NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 168,000.
THE ELECTRIC-ASSIST POWER STEERING HAS BEGUN TO FAIL. RANDOMLY WHEN I START THE CAR AND I GET AN ALERT ON THE DASH ABOUT THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM ALONG WITH THE ORANGE SAFETY ALERT ICON. THE CAR HAS NO POWER STEERING AT ALL. I TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN RESTART. USUALLY, THIS CLEARS THE ERROR AND BRINGS THE POWER STEERING BACK ONLINE. I HAVE OCCASIONALLY HAD TO RESTART THE CAR MORE THAN ONCE. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED TO MY HUSBAND WHILE DRIVING. WE HAD TO PULL OVER AND HE RESTARTED THE CAR MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET THE POWER STEERING BACK ONLINE. IT IS INCREASING IN FREQUENCY AND IS TO THE POINT WE HAVE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE FIX WHICH WILL COST US OVER $2500.

THE CONTACT CALLED GANLEY FORD WEST AT 216-941-9800 (LOCATED AT 16100 LORAIN AVE, CLEVELAND, OH 44111) AND WAS INFORMED THAT LETTERS WERE SENT OUT APPROXIMATELY FIVE YEARS AGO AND THAT THE WARRANTY WOULD HAVE COVERED THE FAILURE AT THAT TIME. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE WARRANTY WAS CURRENTLY EXPIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT CONFIRM THAT A LETTER WAS SENT TO THE CONTACT. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 59,000.
CAR SUDDENLY LOSES ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN, LOSES ALL POWER FOR ABOUT 15 MIN TO HOUR AND THE WILL SUDDENLY START UP AGAIN
I REPORTED ABOUT A VEHICLE SAFETY COMPLAIN/RECALL LIKE 2-3MOS FROM NOW BUT IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE IT'S LIKE NO REPLY OR ACTIONS COMING FROM YOU BECAUSE I JUST WANNA KNOW IF FOR SOME REASONS IT'S ALREADY AVAILABLE FOR MY CAR FOR A RECALL OR SOMETHING IN YOUR SYSTEM OR I STILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT? I HAVE A CAR THAT I BELIEVE A LATCHKEY/LOCKED IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT IS BROKE BECAUSE WHENEVER I'M DRIVING FROM 30-50 MPH IT'S KEEP ON OPENING THE DOOR AND ESP. WHEN TURNING THAT'S WHY I PUT SOME DUCT TAPE ON IT JUST TO PREVENT FROM OPENING BY ITSELF. I JUST HOPE YOU CAN DO IMMEDIATE ACTION FOR THIS KIND OF MATTER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAILURE CODE. THE CONTACT PERFORMED A TO DIAGNOSTIC SCAN AND RETRIEVED TWO UNKNOWN CODES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONE HAD DO WITH THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
MY TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN WORKED ON 3 TIMES NOW. IT'S BEEN A BURNT CLUTCH TWICE AND THE THIRD WAS A RECALL THEY FIXED ON THE TRANSMISSION. AND NOW FOR A 4TH TIME, I NEED TO TAKE MY CAR IN TO BE WORKED ON BECAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION. MY CAR WON'T GO IN REVERSE. SOMETIMES IT WILL BEGIN TO GO FORWARD INSTEAD OF BACKWARDS. WHEN I PUT MY CAR IN REVERSE FROM PARK, I CAN HEAR THE GEARS GRIND. THE CAR SHUDDERS AND JERKS LIKE IT USUALLY DOES. BUT INSTEAD OF THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE LIGHT COMING LIKE IT DID THE FIRST THREE TIMES, NOW THE ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON BUT I KNOW THIS IS THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE IT'S HAPPENED 3 TIMES BEFORE. EACH TIME MY CAR HAS BROKE DOWN BECAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION, I WAS ON POPULATED ROADS AND I COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN IN A CAR ACCIDENT.
GOT THE FUEL SYSTEM RECALL LAST WEEK AND FORD SENT THE DEALERSHIP THE WRONG SOFTWARE. CAR IS PARKED IN GARAGE, SCARED IT ILL OVERHEAT AND LEAVE US STRANDED.
AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR, IT STARED TO HAVE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. TOOK IT TO REPAIR SHOP. THEY REWORKED THE FRONT END AND TRANSMISSION. THE COMPUTERS ON BOTH THE FRONT END AND TRANSMISSION FAILED TO SYNC TOGETHER. THIS CAUSED A TOTAL FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION. I HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED ONLY TO HAVE IT FAIL FOUR MONTHS LATER. THE CAR STARTED TO JERK, JUMP FORWARD AND THEN STOPPED MOVING. THE ENGINE WAS RACING BUT THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT WORK. I WAS LEFT IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION AND THANKFULLY HAD PEOPLE HELP ME PUSH IT OUT OF THE ROAD. IT'S BACK AT THE REPAIR SHOP, AGAIN ITS THE TRANSMISSION MODULE AND TRANSMISSION. !
"TAKATA RECALL" WHEN ATTEMPTING TO REVERSE OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, I PUT MY CAR IN THE REVERSE GEAR HOWEVER NOTHING HAPPENED. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES, PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL BUT THE CAR WOULD ONLY BACK UP SLIGHTLY. AFTER SOME TIME I WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY BACK OUT AND SHIFT INTO DRIVE. WHEN I WAS IN DRIVE, THE CAR WAS MOVING VERY SLOWLY AND JERKING AS I WAS IN MOTION. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO A LOCAL GARAGE TO HAVE MY VEHICLE CHECKED OUT. THE GARAGE COMMUNICATED THAT THEY COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO DRIVE AT ALL. THEY TRIED DRIVING IT IN REVERSE AS WELL AS FORWARD.
POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION. WARNING OCCURRED EACH TIME CAR WAS TURNED ON FOR THE FIRST TIME DURING THE DAY, BUT WOULD USUALLY RESET AND TURN OFF AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR WHILE STATIONARY. THIS HAPPENED FOR ABOUT SIX MONTHS WHEN THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY WENT OUT. THE MECHANIC HAD SAID THIS HAS BEEN A FREQUENT PROBLEM FOR FORD FOCUS' AS THE POWER STEERING COLUMN HAS A BAD AND UNUSUAL SETUP THAT CAUSES THE WIRING TO OVERHEAT AND THUS RESULTING IN THE POWER STEERING TO NOT WORK.
FORD IS KNOWINGLY SELLING LEMON TRANSMISSIONS AND "FIXING" THEM. WHEN THE FIX ISNT WORKING THEN THE BLAME IS PLACED ON CONSUMER. THIS NEEDS TO STOP.
THE POWER STEERING IN MY CAR WENT OUT. WHILE I WAS LEAVING WORK MY CAR PROMPTED THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE "STEERING FAULT ASSIST" CAME ON AND MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE TO BE ON A STRAIGHT RESIDENTIAL ROAD WHEN THIS OCCURRED. THE STEERING GEAR IN MY CAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER DOING FURTHER RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH FORD CARS. SO MUCH SO THAT FORD HAS RECALLED FORD/LINCOLN MIDSIZE SEDANS FOR AN IDENTICAL ISSUE (RECALL NUMBER: 19V632000). IT IS INEXCUSABLE THAT FORD CONTINUOUSLY IGNORES THIS ISSUE FOR COMPACT CARS.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced under the NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V735000 (Fuel System, Gasoline), and after picking up the vehicle, the vehicle shifted into park and inadvertently stalled, almost causing a rear-end collision. The contact also stated that the navigation system and the lights were not working as needed. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure; however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
STEERING WHEEL WOULDN'T TURN AFTER STARTING UP MY 2012 FORD FOCUS SE. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN, AND THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED AS IT SHOULD. HOWEVER, THE NEXT DAY IT DID IT AGAIN. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THE ELECTRONIC RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS APPARENTLY A VERY COMMON ISSUE (THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE), YET NO RECALL FROM FORD. DISCOURAGING.
VEHICLE IS READING CODE P0420 INDICATING HAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS OPERATING UNDER THRESHOLD. LIGHT WOULD TURN ON AND OFF PERIODICALLY UNTIL IT FINALLY REMAINED TURNED ON AND SOON AFTER THE VEHICLE STARTED STRUGGLING TO DRIVE UP HILLS AND THE GAS MILAGE HAS DECREASED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MATT BOWERS FORD (LOCATED AT 3724 VETERANS MEMORIAL BLVD, METAIRIE, LA 70002, (504) 887-8410) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000. *JS
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I PRESSED ON THE BRAKES AND THE CAR ACCELORATATED FROM 58 TO 80. I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES BEFORE IT FINALLY STOPPED. ANOTHER TIME I WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN AND PRESSED THE BRAKE AND IT BEGAN TO ACCELERATE, I PUMPED THE BRAKES AND IT FINALLY STOPPED. A WEEK LATER I PUT THE CAR INTO DRIVE AND PRESSED THE GAS AND THE CAR DIDN'T GO ANYWHERE, HAD PUT IT BACK INTO PARK THEN DRIVE AND WHEN IMPRESSED THE GAS, IT WENT. A FEW TIMES I PRESSED THE BRAKES IT FELT LIKE SOMETHING WAS STUCK INSIDE THEM AND THEY WOULDN'T GRAB.
MY GIRLFRIEND BOUGHT THIS CAR AND WE BELIEVE HAS A DUEL CLUTCH ISSUE AND ALL THE FORD GARAGES WE TAKE IT TO SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT ONLY HAS 50,000 MILES ON IT. SHE SPENT HER HARD EARNED MONEY ON IT AND MAKES MY HEART ACE TO KNOW THAT SHE HAD TO DRIVE AROUND WITH HER CAR LIKE THIS WE NEED HELP !!!
WHILE DRIVING, MY CAR STARTED TO STUTTER WHEN SHIFTING. I WAS MINOR AT FIRST. AND I JUST ASSUMED I WAS DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE. I GOT THE OIL CHANGE AND THE PROBLEM STILL GOT WORSE. I WOULD DRIVE 5 BLOCKS DOWN THE ROAD (HIGHWAY OR CITY STREET) AND MY CAR WOULD TELL ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS OVER HEATING AND TO PULL OVER SAFELY. IF I TRIED TO GO UPHILL WHILE DRIVING, MY CAR WOULD JUST NOT HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO MAKE IT AND WOULD JUST ROLL BACKWARDS NO MATTER HOW MUCH GAS I GAVE IT. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR 2 RECALLS, THINKING MAYBE ONE OF THEM WAS CAUSING THE ISSUE. PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED AFTER THOSE WERE FIXED. I ALSO REPLACED THE TCM AND HAD IT PROGRAMMED TO NO AVAIL. NOW FORD IS TELLING ME IT'S AN ISSUE INSIDE MY TRANSMISSION. I BELIEVE MY CAR IS FINALLY CATCHING UP AND HAVING THE ISSUES ALL THE OTHER FORD FOCUS/ FIESTAS WITH THE DCT WE'RE HAVING. BUT OF COURSE MY CAR DIDN'T START TO HAVE ISSUES UNTIL AFTER THE WARRANTIED MILEAGE. THE FORD DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN ABSOLUTELY NO HELP. NOT A SINGLE MENTION OF THE FACT THAT ALL FOCUS' FROM 2012-2014 OR SO HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUES

TRANSMISSION WAS WORKED ON UNDER WARRANTY BUT CONTINUES TO BE SLUGGISH AND UNRELIABLE ESPECIALLY WHEN TRYING TO MOVE FORWARD AFTER A COMPLETE STOP. VEHICLE JERKS AND SHUTTERS. CLUTCH HAS NOW GONE OUT PER THE DEALER AND FORD REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS KNOWN DEFECT. CAR IS UNDRIVEABLE AT NO FAULT OF OURS. FILED A CASE WITH FORD AND WAS TOLD THAT OUR ONLY RECOURSE WAS IF NHSTA PUT OUT A NEW RECALL OR EXTENDED WARRANTY TO ALLOW FOR ADDITIONAL OWNERS TO HAVE VEHICLES REPAIRED AT FORD'S EXPENSE. WE HAVE CONTACTED MULTIPLE NON-FORD REPAIR SHOPS WHO REFUSE TO WORK ON THIS MAKE/MODEL/YEAR DUE TO THE KNOWN ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH.

CAR WILL START TO SHUDDER WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER COMING TO A STOP (EX. STOP SIGN/LIGHT). VEHICLE WONT START AFTER PUMPING GAS. FUEL GAUGE SEEMS TO BE OFF EVEN AFTER A RECALL WAS DONE. WHEN ACCELERATING RPM WILL GO UP BUT THE CAR WONT ACCELERATE.

I AM GUESSING ONCE IT COOLED IT WOULD BE BETTER BUT IT KEPT SHUDDERING SOME DAYS IT DRIVES FINE AND MOST OF THE TIME IT'S DRAGGING RPM HIGH AND SHUDDERING WHEN PULLING OFF FROM LIGHT OR STOP SIGN.

I BROUGHT MY CAR IN FOR THE PURGE VALVE AND FUEL TANK DEFORMATION RECALL. IT WAS CHECKED AND DETERMINED TO BE FINE; BUT 30-45 DAYS AFTER MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT BEGAN STALLING WHEN STARTING, ESPECIALLY AFTER I WOULD FILL UP MY GAS TANK. THE INITIAL RECALL SAID IT WOULD REPLACE FAULTY PURGE VALVES RELATED TO THE RECALL BUT SINCE MY CAR WAS CHECKED ALREADY THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. MY SPOUSE ALSO HAS FORD FOCUS AND HIS WAS RECALLED A SECOND TIME FOR THE PURGE VALVE BUT MINE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SECOND RECALL. I THINK IT HAD BEEN MALFUNCTIONING FOR YEARS. AFTER I PAID FOR THE PURGE VALVE REPLACEMENT MY MPG WENT FROM 26MPG TO 32MPG ON THE SAME DRIVING PATTERNS I'VE ALWAYS HAD.

MY 2012 FORD FOCUS SEL HAS AN ISSUE WHERE A YELLOW ICON WILL COME UP ON THE DASH THEN DISPLAY ANOTHER ICON SAYING THAT THERE IS A STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTION AND THAT SERVICE IS NEEDED. THE STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT MOVE AND LITERALLY TAKES ALL OF YOUR POWER TO GET IT TO MOVE. AFTER SEVERAL TIMES OF TURNING THE CAR ON AND OFF IT WILL WORK BUT ALWAYS COMES UP WITH THAT ICON AGAIN. THIS HAS EVEN HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING! THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! I AM NOT TRYING TO DIE WHILE I DRIVE MY CAR DOWN THE ROAD. FORD ALSO REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION ON MY CAR ABOUT A YEAR AGO FOR A TRANSMISSION RECALL AFTER THE CAR WOULD SHUTTER WHEN GOING INTO FIRST GEAR. NOW, A YEAR LATER THE PROBLEM IS HAPPENING AGAIN AND JUST AS BAD. WHEN MY HUSBAND AND I WENT TO FORD THEY SAID THAT THE WARRANTY WAS UP AND THAT THEY COULDN'T HELP ME. IT WAS EITHER HIT THE ROAD OR PAY $1,500 TO REPLACE IT AGAIN! YOU'RE TELLING ME THAT YOU PUT IN A FAULTY REPLACEMENT PART AND NOW EXPECT ME TO PAY OUT OF MY POCKET TO REPLACE YOUR MISTAKE? THAT'S HILARIOUS!! WHEN I TURN LEFT INTO MY NEIGHBORHOOD WHILE GOING ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC, IT'S SCARY WHEN MY CAR SHUTTERS INTO FIRST GEAR TO THE POINT WHERE I STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND ALMOST GET HIT. COME ON FORD, GET YOUR STUFF TOGETHER! IF YOU TRULY CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF YOUR CUSTOMERS LIKE YOU SAY THAT YOU DO, THEN PROTECT US. FIX YOUR MESS AND DON'T PUT DANGEROUS CARS ON THE ROAD. VERY UNSAFE IN TRAFFIC AND ALMOST REAR ENDED SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO THE VEHICLE ACTING AWFUL. THIS FIRST HAPPENED ON MAJOR 4 LANE HWY AND AGAIN ON SECONDARY HWY. AFTER CHECKING ON LINE IT STATES IT MAY BE A VOLUNTEER RECALL AT FORD. AFTER READING MORE INTO IT FOUND OUT FORD DOES NOT WANT TO CLAIM PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION ALTHOUGH THERE ARE OVER 2600 COMPLAINTS. GUESSING IT WILL TAKE AN ACCIDENT AND LAW SUIT TO MAKE THEM WAKE UP AT FORD. THERE HAS BEEN MEMO'S FROM FORD BUT THEY ARE NOW SAYING NOPE DIDN'T HAPPEN. IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO MY CHILD WHILE DRIVING THIS REST ASSURE I WILL BE GOING AFTER FORD. CAN'T AFFORD TO TRADE IT OFF AND SENDING HIM TO COLLEGE. WHENEVER WEATHER IS ABOVE 75 DEGREES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON AND THE VEHICLE STARTS GOING UP AND DOWN IN RPM, USUALLY GOING DOWN TO 500 RPM WHILE STATIONARY. AT RANDOM TIMES, IT WOULD GO UP TO 4000 RPM WITH JUST A SHORT ACCELERATION WHILE IN AN INTERSECTION. DURING ONE HOT DAY LAST SATURDAY (8/27/19), IT WAS ABOVE 85 DEGREES AND THE CAR WOULD NOT EVEN REVERSE WHEN I WAS AT A DEAD END OF BERKELEY. I HAD TO WAIT FOR MY CAR TO COOL DOWN BEFORE IT EVENTUALLY STARTED REVERSING AGAIN. I ALREADY HAD MY CLUTCH REPLACED 2 YEARS AGO DUE TO ANOTHER RECALL ON THE CAR, BUT NOW THIS CLUTCH HAS FAILED ME. I WENT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND AFTER THEIR REPAIR SPECIALIST INSPECTED MY CAR (WHICH WILL COST ME $200), THEY CONFIRMED THE CLUTCH IS NO LONGER WORKING. MY 2012 FORD FOCUS IS OUT OF ITS 7 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY, SO THEY QUOTED ME $3,300 TO HAVE THIS CLUTCH REPLACED. I REFUSED TO PAY THIS AND THEY TOLD ME TO CALL THE FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AT 1-800-392-3673. THEY SAID I CAN COMPLAIN, BUT THEY LIKELY WILL NOT HELP ME. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME I HAVE BEEN AT THIS DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS AND THE OTHER 3 TIMES WAS DUE TO A RECALL ISSUE. I SPOKE WITH THE CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AND EXPLAINED MY SITUATION. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY CANNOT REPAIR THIS CLUTCH FOR FREE SINCE ITS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. WHAT THE CUSTOMER REP (APRIL) SUGGESTED TO DO WAS TO KEEP MY RECEIPTS FOR THE REPAIR AND HOPEFULLY FORD MIGHT COME WITH A RECALL WHERE THEY CAN REIMBURSE ME FOR THE REPAIRS. I WANTED TO ESCALATE MY COMPLAINT, BUT THEY SAID THEY WILL JUST TELL ME THE SAME RESPONSE.
