TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND WENT INTO MANUAL MODE. THE POWER STEERING FAILURE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (CAUSEWAY FORD LINCOLN, 375 NJ-72, MANAHAWKIN, NJ, 08050) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. DUE TO THE COST, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS-13195872. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PART WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT THEY WOULD COVER HALF OF THE COST. NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME INOPERABLE AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BOLTON FORD (1500 E COLLEGE STREET, LAKE CHARLES, LA 70607) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 93,000.
After driving my vehicle it stalls once it is stopped and I try to press the gas. This can cause a collision. This can either be the fuel system which they did have a recall on my car but the dealership decided it wasn't needed at the time. It could also be the power train. This incident has occurred multiple times since 2017.
2013 FORD FOCUS AUDIO SYSTEM DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. CRACKS AND POP AT EXTREME VOLUMES EVEN WHEN SYSTEM VOLUME IS FULLY TURNED DOWN AND/OR OFF. ISSUE OCCURS EVEN PRIOR TO VEHICLE BEING STARTED, DOESN'T MATTER IF CAR IS RUNNING, DRIVING, AT A STOP, IN PARK, ETC. HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR DRIVER AS THE SOUND IS A SIMILAR VOLUME TO SOMEONE SETTING OFF FIREWORKS IN THE CAR. THIS WILL CAUSE ACCIDENTS FOR DRIVERS IF IT IS NOT CORRECTED. FORD CLAIMS THIS IS NOT A WIDESPREAD ISSUE BUT A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH OF "FORD FOCUS AUDIO ISSUES" BRINGS UP MANY RESULTS PROVING OTHERWISE. NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR, BEGAN ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO AND HAS ONLY CONTINUED TO GET WORSE AND HAPPEN MORE OFTEN. AUDIO SYSTEM IS NOT OLD ENOUGH TO WHERE I SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO REPLACE. UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES AN AUDIO SYSTEM SHOULD LAST AS LONG AS THE LIFE OF THE CAR, NOT FOUR YEARS. RIDICULOUS AND DANGEROUS, PLEASE CORRECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND HESITATED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (TALLAHASSEE FORD IN TALLAHASSEE, FL) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE AND AIR MASS SENSOR WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER VEHICLE. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPORTED FAILED EPAS. APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD VEHICLES AND HAS BEEN RECALLED ON CERTAIN MODELS, BUT NOT THE FORD FOCUS.
I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE I- 5 SAN DIEGO, CA AND MY CAR COMPLETELY LOST POWER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. AFTER I TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES, I DROVE IT ONCE AGAIN AND IT SEEMED TO BE NORMAL AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NO LONGER FLASHING. THEN, AFTER A WEEK IT HAPPENED AGAIN, THE CAR DIED ON THE HIGHWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING, AN ABNORMAL POPPING NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE RADIO. IN ADDITION, THE RADIO FAILED TO OPERATE AND THEN OPERATED INDEPENDENTLY. AFTER ATTEMPTING TO THE LOCK THE DOORS WHILE INSIDE THE VEHICLE, THE DOORS FAILED TO LOCK WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BLUE SPRINGS FORD (3200 NW SOUTH OUTER RD, BLUE SPRINGS, MO 64015), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED DUE TO THE COST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
COUPLE WEEKS AGO I GOT INTO MY CAR TO COME TO WORK AND I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL. SO I LOOKED DOWN AND I SAW "STEERING ASSIST FAULT - SERVICE REQUESTED". UNTIL THIS DAY MY FIANCE AND I HAVE ADJUSTED OUR SCHEDULES TEMPORARILY SO THAT HE CAN DRIVE ME TO WORK. I DON'T HAVE THE STRENGTH TO EVEN TURN THE WHEEL.
SHUDDERING CONTINUES ON SHIFTING FROM GEAR TO GEAR. FEELING OF TRANSMISSION SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR BOTH AT CITY AND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. CONCERNS FOR SAFETY AND BEING STRANDED CONTINUE. I WILL MAKE NOTE THAT I AM A 68 YEAR OLD SENIOR CITIZEN WITH MULTIPLE DISABILITIES. I CONTACTED THE DEALER, PARKWAY FORD OF WINSTON SALEM, NC AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. AFTER THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC PROGRAM, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED A THIRD TIME. THEY NEVER DID ADDRESS THE PROBLEM OF THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR. THEY SAID THIS WAS NORMAL AND THE WAY THE CAR WAS DESIGNED. I NOTED THAT COASTING IS NOT SAFE, IT IS ALSO ILLEGAL. THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED AND ADJUSTMENTS MADE. AT THIS TIME I WAS REPRESENTED BY STERN LAW OF NOVI, MICHIGAN IN A MASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST FORD MOTOR COMPANY REGARDING THIS VEHICLE. WE NOTE THAT THIS CLUTCH REPLACEMENT WAS FIVE MONTHS SINCE THE LAST REPLACEMENT
MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A MAIN ROAD WITH ME AND MY 7 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR. I WAS GUIDED TO THE SIDE BY THE POLICE AND HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE RACK AND PINION HAS FAILED AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY $1800 FOR REPAIRS. AFTER RESEARCHING, IVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHEN THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE MOVED IN REVERSE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL AND FAIL TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NORRIS FORD (901 MERRITT BLVD, BALTIMORE, MD 21222, (410) 285-0200) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE GEAR CLUTCH FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
I HAVE READ MANY RECALLS ON THE WIRING ISSUE OF THE 2013 FORD FOCUS ST MODEL WITH IT STALLING OUT DUE TO FAULTY WIRING. MY 2013 FORD FOCUS SE IS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING PUTTING MY DAUGHTER'S LIFE AT RISK EVERY TIME SHE GETS IN IT AS WELL AS MY OWN AND WRAY FORD IN SHREVEPORT LA SAYS SORRY CANT HELP YOU...IT'S NOT ON THE RECALL SINCE ITS NOT AN ST AND YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THIS IS GARBAGE FORD IS NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND I AM THE LITTLE GUY. THIS IS THE SECOND RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE AND THE SE IS NOT BEING TAKEN CARE OF WITH THE IDENTICAL ISSUE. RUNS FINE WHEN DRIVING, BUT WHEN AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, IT SHAKES, GAUGES GO CRAZY AND THEN SHUTS OFF. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR AND OF COURSE WHEN I GOT IT HOME THAT'S WHEN THE ISSUES STARTED. PURCHASED AS IS NO WARRANTY AND OF COURSE WAS NOT TOLD OF THE ISSUES BUT ONLY THAT I SHOULD CALL TO SEE IF THERE ARE ANY RECALLS. HELP! FUNNY THING IS THAT IT STALLED ON ME AT THE RED LIGHT TURNING INTO WRAY FORD IN SHREVEPORT.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE - THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME STIFF MAKING THE CAR VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM ACROSS MANY DIFFERENT FORD MODELS, AND THEY HAVE RECALLED CERTAIN MODELS DUE TO THIS ISSUE, HOWEVER THEY HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR 2013 FORD FOCUS. A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR 2013 FORD FOCUS, SO WHY NO RECALL?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HEARD A CLICKING NOISE BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE CONTACT HAD THE BATTERY CHECKED AND FOUND NO ISSUES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TCM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE TAKEN TO A FORD DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE RAY PRICE DEALER IN MT POCONO, FORD (2971 PA-940, MT POCONO, PA 18344 (570) 839-1111) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PINS AND LATCH FRACTURED AND THE TCM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,124.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUBURBAN FORD OF STERLING HEIGHTS (40333 VAN DYKE AVE., STERLING HEIGHTS, MI 48313, 586-434-0943) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH AND SEAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
ON WAY TO WORK,STREETS, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, TOOK TO FORD DEALERSHIP. CALLED ME BACK TOLD ME THE FUEL TANK, PURGE VALVE, CHARCOAL CANISTER,FUEL PUMP, AND NOZZLE FOR FUEL TANK HAD TO BE REPLACED. CALLED WARRANTY AND THEY STATED QUITE A FEW PEOPLE HAD SAME ISSUE WITH SAME MAKE AND MODEL/YEAR. THANKFUL HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT A WHOLE FUEL SYSTEM, THIS SEEMS LIKE A DEFECT, NOT THE NORM.
I HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT IS ON FOUND OUT ITS A EVAP LEAK GAS GAUGE NOT WORKING RAN OUT OF GAS CAN NOT PUT GAS ON GAS TANK WITH A GAS CAN IF I TRY IT POURS OUT THE BOTTOM WHEN I START VEHICLE IT SHUDDERS AND WANTS TO DIE OUT ON ME LACK OF POWER WHEN I PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL AND TICKING SOUND IN ENGINE ALSO DOOR LATCH ON PASSENGER BACK DOOR DOES NOT UNLOCK UNLESS I PUSH THE BUTTON UNLOCK 2 OR 3 TIMES
WHILE DRIVING AND PRESSING THE GAS THE CAR WILL DO A LOT OF JERKING THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN WHENEVER I PRESS ON THE GAS TO GO FASTER(SPEED LIMIT). IT DOESN'T PICK UP THE SPEED LIKE IT SHOULD AND THIS BEEN HAPPENING FOR AT LEAST A COUPLE OF MONTHS. THIS IS DRIVING IN THE CITY AND HIGHWAYS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SHORTLY AFTER. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR SAID TO GET OUT BECAUSE THE CAR WAS OVERHEATING. THE DEALERSHIP EVENTUALLY FIXED THE CAR AND CLAIMED IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. TRANSMISSION ISSUE IS STILL CAUSING ISSUES.
CAR WON'T START AFTER REFUELING.... TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO CRANK BEFORE BARELY FIRING UP, RANDOM ROUGH IDLE AND RPMS WILL DROP AND THE CAR WILL STALL FOR NO REASON. ALL PROBLEMS WITH IDLE WILL COME AND GO, IT WILL RUN FINE FOR A BIT, THEN THE IDLE PROBLEM WILL COME BACK. THE PROBLEM CRANKING THE CA RAFTER PUTTING GAS IN IS EVERY TIME I GET GAS.
FORD FOCUS 2013 SE - WHILE DRIVING (IN MOTION), DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR UNLATCHED AND SWUNG OPEN, AND WOULD NOT CLOSE, HORN STOPPED WORKING, INTERIOR DISPLAYS AND LIGHTS FLICKERED, WHEN PULLED OVER, CAR WOULD NOT START. IF WE WERE ON A HIGHWAY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN TREMENDOUSLY DANGEROUS. LATER CAR DID START, BUT DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH, RADIO WAS RESET, HAZARDS WOULD TURN ON AND OFF AT RANDOM. DOOR LATCH AND HORN WOULD NOT WORK AFTER THIS EVENT. SHORTLY PRIOR TO THIS ISSUE, HORN STARTED WORKING AT RANDOM, WIPERS WOULD NOT TURN OFF. WHEN INSPECTED, ADVISED BATTERY WAS BAD AND HAD CORRODED NEGATIVE WIRE TO BATTERY. ONE WEEK AFTER REPLACED, THIS EVENT OCCURRED. CLUTCH IN VEHICLE ALSO JITTERS WHEN INCREASING SPEED FROM FULL STOP, ALLEGEDLY CORRECTED AT FORD DEALERSHIP AFTER RECALL (2 YEARS AGO). PER RESEARCH THIS ISSUE IS BEING CAUSED BY A FAULTY CLUTCH INTERFERING WITH ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.
I RECEIVED A "STEERING ASSIST FAULT" WHILE TURNING ON MY CAR (IT WAS PARKED AT THE TIME) STEERING ASSIST FAULT. THE MILAGE IS 64K AND THE REST OF THE CAR IS IN GOOD SHAPE. HOWEVER, WITHOUT WARNING NOR FORESEEABLE CAUSE TO THIS ISSUE. WHEN THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, I HAD LITTLE CONTROL OVER THE STEERING. UPON RESEARCH THERE ARE ALREADY VARIOUS COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME VEHICLE ALL OF WHICH HAS HAPPENED EITHER THE CAR IN MOTION OR MERELY PARKED. THE COST ASSOCIATED WITH THIS KNOWN ISSUE THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAS PROVEN THROUGH VARIOUS SOURCES IS UNETHICAL. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE OF THE POSSIBLE MONETARY LOSS TO MYSELF, AND HIGH RISK NATURE OF THIS ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE POSSIBLE INJURY.
THIS VEHICLE EXHIBITS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WHILE STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. THE CAR HAS HAD TRANSMISSION SERVICE AT FOUR FORD SERVICE CENTERS FOR SEVEN VISITS. WHILE MOVING, THE CAR HAS LOST POWER, FAILED OR MISSED SHIFTS, SHUT DOWN THE VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND SHOWN VARIOUS DASH WARNINGS CONCERNING TRANSMISSION ISSUES SUCH AS OVERHEATING. WHILE STATIONARY, THE CAR SOMETIMES DOES NOT START, WILL NOT GO INTO PARK OR DISPLAYS WARNINGS THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT READY. INCIDENTS HAVE HAPPENED AT ALL SPEEDS AND FROM A STOPPED POSITION. THERE HAVE BEEN HUNDREDS OF INCIDENCE SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR. THE LAST EVENT WAS 7/13/17 AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL.
THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 6 TIMES AND WE ARE CURRENTLY WAITING ON PARTS TO FIX IT FOR THE 7TH TIME FOR THE TRANS SHUDDERING PROBLEM. IT ALWAYS HAPPENS WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO TAKE OFF FORM A STOP. FORD HAS REDESIGNED THESE PARTS ATLEAST 4 TIME, EVEN HAS REPROGRAMED OR FLASHED THE COMPUTER. THEY HAVE EVEN REPLACED THE CONTROL MODULE IN THIS CAR. THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY BUT WHEN YOU ARE WAITING FOR THE PART TO ARRIVE, WHICH IS 6 TO 8 WEEKS, THE MILES GO UP. SO THAT WARRANTY IS JUST GIVING FORD A GOLDEN PARACHUTE, SO MOST OF THESE CARS WE BE OVER THE MILES AND THEN IT WILL BE OUR PROBLEM. THERE NEEDS TO BE A NATIONAL RECALL ON THESE CARS OR FORD SHOULD HAVE TO GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK AND THEY CAN KEEP THESE CARS!! *BF
AT 19,459 MILES, CAR HESITATES AND SPUTTERS WHILE PULLING OUT FROM A STOPPED POSITION. DEALER ATTEMPTED A FIX: (FAULTY CLUTCHES) AT 38,712 MILES, SAME PROBLEM...SAME ATTEMPT AT A FIX. (FAULTY CLUTCHES) AT 57,662, SAME PROBLEM...DEALER REPLACED "CLUTCHES". ON JULY 9,2017 AT 66,558, CAR STOPPED ON THE STREET WHILE BEING DRIVEN, WOULD NOT GO IN TO GEAR AT ALL. THE PROBLEM ESCALATED FROM DIFFICULTY PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC TO CAR STOPPING IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE INVOICES FOR "REPAIRS" TO CLUTCHES. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER . FAULTY CLUTCHES ?
MY DRIVER SEAT BELT DOES NOT RETRACT AT ALL WHEN I GET OUT. I FEEL LIKE IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE IF IT DOESN'T RETRACT WHEN I UNBUCKLE IT WON'T RESTRAIN IN A CAR ACCIDENT. IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. BECAUSE SOMEONE COULD GET WHIPLASH. THE DEALERSHIP I TOOK IT TO SAYS IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER MY BASIC FORD EXTENDED WARRANTY. IT SHOULD BE FREE OF CHARGE TO REPLACE.
I WAS DRIVING HOME GOING ABOUT 65 MPG IN A STRAIGHT LINE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR LOST PROPULSION, STARTED DECELERATING. I PULLED OF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS FAST AS POSSIBLE AND THE CAR WOULDN'T CHANGE GEARS, AND STALLED (LIKE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON'T DEPRESS THE CLUTCH). THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED, THE FIRST TIME THEY REPROGRAMMED THE TCM CLAIMING THAT WAS THE CAUSE. THIS TIME THEY ARE CLAIMING THE FUEL PUMP IS THE CAUSE, THOUGH I AM SKEPTICAL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO STATE COLLEGE FORD LINCOLN (3140 WEST COLLEGE AVE, STATE COLLEGE, PA 16801, (814) 238-5041) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD A SHUTTER AND POOR INITIAL ACCELERATION. THE CLUTCH HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND TCM ONCE WHILE IN MY OWNERSHIP. I WAS JUST TOLD THAT BECAUSE I AM NOW OVER 100, 000 MILES THE CLUTCH IS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT THE TCM IS. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL INCIDENTS WHERE THE CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION ABILITIES WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY OR SIMPLY FAIL TO ACCELERATE AND A TRAFFIC LIGHT CAUSING MAJOR DELAYS FOR ANYONE AROUND ME. IT HAS BEEN A SAFTEY CONCERN FOR YEARS DUE TO THE UNPREDICTABILITY OF THE TRANSMISSION INTERMITTENTLY NOT ALLOWING ACCELERATION.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH WILL NOT ENGAGE LEAVING THE DOOR OPEN AT ALL TIMES.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURN ON BY THEMSELVES, WITH NO INPUT FROM ME. CANNOT TURN THEM OFF WITH THE SWITCH. THEY STAY ON EVEN AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND THE KEY IS REMOVED.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH NO OTHER SYMPTOMS, DEALER REPLACED PURGE VALVE. ONE YEAR LATER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, BUT OCCASIONALLY TURNED OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN (EVERY FEW DAYS) BETWEEN APPOINTMENTS WITH DEALER. PURGE VALVE REPLACED AGAIN AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS LEAVING DEALER CODE 0420. RETURNED TO DEALER AND PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED FINALLY AS PARTIALLY COLLAPSED FUEL TANK (DIFFICULT TO SEE UNLESS CAR WAS ON A LIFT.) DEALER RECOMMENDS REPLACING FUEL TANK, FUEL PUMP, EVAP CAN AND OTHER ASSOCIATED PARTS. BESIDES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THE ONLY SYMPTOM IS OCCASIONAL LACK OF POWER WHEN ACCELERATING. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THIS SYMPTOM IS SOMEWHAT SIMILAR TO THE "SHUDDER" PROBLEM FIXED BY REPLACING THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. SO, HAVING RECENTLY DONE THAT CLUTCH ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT THIS FELT LIKE A SHADOW OF THE FORMER PROBLEM AND I IGNORED THE ISSUE UNTIL I GOT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS. I CONTACTED FORD DIRECTLY TO SEE IF THEY WOULD REIMBURSE FOR THE EXPENSIVE REPAIRS. THEY HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL AND I AM PAST THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY SO THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST...THEY WERE VERY POLITE, BUT UNWILLING TO PAY. ADDITIONAL NOTE ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT: THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, WHEN IT CAME ON, WOULD USUALLY STAY ON FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEN EITHER LATE AT NIGHT OR EARLY IN THE MORNING I WOULD FIND THAT IT WAS OFF. AND IT WOULD STAY OFF FOR A FEW DAYS AT A TIME AS WELL. MY ASSUMPTION WAS THAT IT WAS SOMEHOW RELATED TO THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE OF MY VEHICLE (WHICH IS BLACK) BECAUSE THE LIGHT WAS MORE LIKELY TO BE OFF WHEN IT WAS COOL AND DARK OR OVERCAST. I AM LISTING THE DATE AS JUNE 2017 BUT THE PROBLEM, AT LEAST AS REGARDS THE PURGE VALVE, BEGAN A YEAR EARLIER. BUT THE INTERMITTENT CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS AND SECOND PURGE VALVE REPLACEMENT AND CURRENT FUEL TANK COLLAPSE BEGAN IN JUNE 2017
THE BODY CONTROL MODULE FAILED. AFTER ONLY 4 YEARS AND 53K MILES ON THE ROAD THE BCM SIMPLY STOPPED WORKING. THE CAR WAS NOT SHOWING ANY OF THE SIGNS OF A FAILING BCM (ELECTRICAL GLITCHES, ENGINE ISSUES, ETC.). AS FAR AS I KNEW, UNTIL THE COMPONENT FAILED THE CAR WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION. THE CAR WAS PARKED OUTSIDE MY OFFICE WHEN THE PART FAILED. WHEN I MADE MY 20 MINUTE COMMUTE TO WORK AROUND 7:30AM IT OPERATED FINE. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE AROUND 5PM THE KEY FOB WOULD NOT WORK, THE INSTRUMENTATION PANEL WOULD NOT LIGHT UP AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. I TRIED JUMPING THE BATTERY MULTIPLE TIMES WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. WE HAD TO MANUALLY OVERRIDE THE BRAKES JUST TO GET THE CAR LOADED ONTO A TOW TRUCK. MECHANICS SPENT MORE THAN 4 HOURS LOOKING OVER THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE THE SOURCE OF THE ISSUE. AFTER MULTIPLE TESTS THEY DETERMINED THAT THE TCM WAS WORKING FINE (FORD ISSUED A CSP FOR TCMS ON THIS BUILD) AND THAT THE BCM FAILED. THEY TOLD ME THAT TYPICALLY A BCM WILL FAIL IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT, WATER DAMAGE OR A SHORT, BUT THEY ALSO CONFIRMED THAT THIS VEHICLE SHOWED NO SIGNS THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THESE PROBLEMS. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE PART CAN FAIL WITH AGE, HOWEVER, THIS IS A NEWER MODEL YEAR WITH RELATIVELY LOW MILEAGE. WHILE I WAS FORTUNATE THAT MY CAR FAILED WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED, I WORRY THAT OTHER DRIVERS MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY. IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS PART COULD FAIL WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, AND IF IT DOES, CAN CAUSE ENGINE PROBLEMS AND RESULT IN SUDDEN DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. THIS IS EVEN MORE CONCERNING KNOWING THAT THERE ARE OTHER VEHICLES OUT THERE WITH THIS VERSION OF BCM AND THAT THEY CAN FAIL PREMATURELY TOO.
TRANSMISSION/DUAL CLUTCH HAS BEEN REPLACED. GOING IN FOR A SECOND ASSESSMENT. CAR SHUTTERS SEVERELY DURING ACCELERATION AND HAS A DELAY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE AS INTENDED WHEN CHANGING LANES, MERGING ONTO INTERSTATE, ETC. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WHILE THE VEHICLE GOES FROM A STATIONARY POSITION TO IN MOTION.
CAR LATCH ON FORD FOCUS2013 WONT LET CAR DOOR CLOSE. I LEFT THE STORE AND NOTICED THAT THE AIR WAS COMING INTO THE CAR AS IF A WINDOW WAS OPEN. WHEN I GOT HOME MY DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000.

TRANSMISSION STOP WORKING IN MIDDLE OF BUSY INTERSECTION DURING RUSH HOUR. I WAS TURNING LEFT, CAR WAS STATIONARY WAITING FOR TRAFFIC TO PASS. THANKFUL I THINK IT QUIT IN NEUTRAL ALTHOUGH DASHBOARD WAS BLACK & GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT LOCK INTO ANY GEAR; COULD BE PUSHED INTO CORNER BUSINESS PARKING LOT. IT WAS FIXED BUT NEVER COMPLETELY BETTER NOR DID I FEEL COMPLETELY SAFE. I HAD 2 CLUTCH REPLACEMENTS, WHICH WERE ALSO FIXED & PAID BY THEM. FORD DEALER REPLACE SOME RECALL ON SIDE DOORS, BUT NEVER FIXED THE RECALL ON FUEL TANK, NEVER INFORMED THAT THEY EVER GOT PART IN AS LETTER STATED.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,850.
EXPERIENCED CLUTCH SHUDDERING ISSUE. HAVE HAD THE TCM REFLASHED AT LEAST TWICE AND HAVE HAD THE DUAL CLUTCH REPLACED TWICE IN LESS THAN 10K MILES.

I BOUGHT MY CAR IN DECEMBER OF 2014, CERTIFIED PREOWNED. AFTER HAVING THE CAR FOR NOT EVEN A FULL MONTH, I RECEIVED A CALL THAT I HAD A CLUTCH THAT CAME IN TO THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I HAD NOT ORDERED ONE, NOR DID I KNOW THE CAR NEEDED ONE AT TIME OF PURCHASE. SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN THROUGH 3 CLUTCHES AND THE FOURTH WAS JUST ORDERED MONDAY JUNE 12, 2017. EVERY 15,000 MILES THE CAR BEGINS TO SHUDDER AND EXPERIENCE SHIFTING HESITATION. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNNERVING, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT ONLY DOES IT WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP OR WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER SLOWING DOWN FOE SAY A RED LIGHT THAT JUST TURNED GREEN. IT DOESN'T MAKE ME FEEL SAFE, I'VE HAD MULTIPLE INSTANCES WHERE THIS HAS CAUSED NEAR COLLISIONS WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC BECAUSE THE CAR ESSENTIALLY STALLS OUT AND I STOP MOVING. FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS AND THIS IS MY THIRD YEAR EXPERIENCING THESE PROBLEMS. I DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS THE MANUFACTURERS RESPONSIBILITY. I GOT A RECALL FOR SOMETHING TRIVIAL, DOOR LATCHED, BUT NOT THW HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM THAT IS MY CLUTCH FAILING. THE DEALER ALSO STATED ON A 07/16/16 INVOICE THAT THIS IS A RECALL ITEM, BUT I'M STILL PAYING FOR IT. I HAVE ALL PRIOR INVOICES OF ALL CLUTCH WORK DONE
HORN BEGAN INTERMITTENTLY FAILING, WHEN DOUBLE LOCKING THE CAR THE HORN CHIRP WOULD EITHER NOT SOUND OR WOULD SOUND BUT QUIETLY AS IF IT WAS DYING. THE SAME THING OCCURRED WHEN TRYING TO ENGAGE THE HORN BY DEPRESSING THE CENTER OF THE STEERING WHEEL. SOMETIMES IT WORKED OTHERS IT DIDN'T AND SOMETIMES IT SOUNDED FAINT AND CUT OFF EARLY. AFTER ABOUT A MONTH THE HORN STOPPED WORKING ENTIRELY. WHEN TRYING TO ENGAGE THE HORN FROM THE STEERING WHEEL I HEAR A CLICK LIKE A MICRO SWITCH ENGAGING BUT NO SOUND. MY HORN WILL NOT SOUND WHETHER I AM PARKED AND STATIONARY OR WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY OR CITY STREETS, ALL I HEAR IT THE SOUND OF A MICRO SWITCH CLICK. I AM CURRENTLY AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE LITTLE METAL CONNECTORS FOR THE HORN ARE CORRODED AND AFTER CLEANING THEM OFF THE HORN WORKS FINE AGAIN. DUE TO THE LOCATION OF THE HORN I HAVE TO PAY QUITE A BIT FOR THIS AND DISCOVERED IT IS A KNOWN AND COMMON PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

LATELY IT FAILS TO TURN ON EVERY TIME I START THE VEHICLE, ONLY WORKING AFTER I TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR OVER A YEAR, BUT UNTIL RECENTLY IT WAS INFREQUENT. I AM NOW CONCERNED I WILL BE STRANDED OR THAT IT WILL FAIL WHILE DRIVING, POTENTIALLY CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY.
