NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2014 Ford Focus. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
Vehicle overheated while driving. Took it to dealership and advised cause is transmission. Advised by dealership manufacturer was aware of problem and still put it on market for sale.
When my engine light came on, I took it to about 2-3 shops and they all said it was the catalic convertor. I took it to Coliber Auto Care, they did their own diagnostic and came up with 4 codes which was for the converter, spark plugs, fuel system and the coolant fluid system. I had the coolant system fixed and they told me it's best to have the catalytic converter fixed first before I have thr rest fixed and that the engine light will still be on until I get the converter fixed. It was at the end of the day when I picked up my Ford and when I got into my car, yes I saw the engine light on and as I was driving off, a warning transmission light came on. I then took it to Pepboys to have the convertor fixed and it was them that caught the transmission problem among other issues. I took my car back to Caliber Auto about my transmission because my car was driving just fine until they started working on it. When I picked up my vehicle from Caliber Auto and as I was driving off, my car was stalling and wouldn't automatically shift gears properly. Once I made it home, I had my car towed back to Pepboys then from Pepboys to David McDavid Ford in White Settlement, TX. I do have all the paperwork, but since I'm filling this form on my phone, I have no way of uploading them right now. Once I get a feed back to my email from you, I'll then use my laptop to upload all the documents.
I have a 2014 ford focus and i have had three services visits i have had the clutch replaced two shift actuators, the transmission oil seal and the transmission control module after the third service visit the car would shutter nearly every time i drove it but the symptoms were no more than just performance issues which went on for about two years. In addition the car would periodically overheat during extreme temperatures over rover 110 briefly when i would start the car but the temperature gauge would go right back down and the car wouldn't overheat. However this was most likely due to the transmission overheating because in June the car would exhibit the same symptom but more frequently but then when i was driving on june 13th the computer told me the transmission was overheating. I barely managed to get the car home however the transmission began to lose power and the transmission service light came on. I later inspected the car and noticed the breather tube had come lose on top of the transmission most likely due to shuttering. I can no longer drive the car because of the potential that i could get in an accident even though you have braking and power steering there's a potential for a hazard when making left turns if you are unable to accelerate while making a left turn due to loss of power with the transmission you could be hit by oncoming traffic. Ford refuses to replace or repair the transmission and as with numerous other consumers they use the excuse of the car being out of warranty I have also had a battery draw due to the transmission i have had to replace the the battery 3 times and the hill assist light came on numerous times

Just to get it out of the way, my vehicle is currently in Italy due to my work location. The car is also US spec but was transported here. Approximately 2 months ago, my rear driver door latch gave out, this causes my door to swing wide open since it is unable to latch on and lock. After having this issue, I found out that there was a recall for this already. I then took the vehicle to the nearest Ford dealership to me. They said they would email me when the part came in since they have to order it first, about a month goes by and no email so I drive there again and they say they have the part. I am then told to make a date to get the work done, roll over a few days and I get the car there and drop it off and wait. After the long 2 hours, I am informed that they replaced the 2 front door latches, then they proceed to tell me that the recall is only for the front doors and that I would have to pay out of pocket to get the rear latches done. Confused, I show them the statement from the Ford and NHTSA website that states, "OWNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED BY MAIL AND INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THEIR VEHICLE TO A FORD OR LINCOLN DEALER TO HAVE ALL AFFECTED DOOR LATCHES REPLACED WITH A MORE ROBUST SERVICE PART. THERE WILL BE NO CHARGE FOR THIS SERVICE.". To this day, I am still being told that same information from them that it is not covered in that recall. I am now stuck and don't know what to do since I cannot get the work done any where else because of my location. I have tried using the Chat Now feature on Fords' website without any luck.
I was noticing hesitation on my way to work when the traffic light turned green, I'd press the gas pedal and the car wouldn't move. I'd give it more gas then it would jerk into moving forward. While accelerating as the car would automatically switch gears the car would hesitate as if it weren't taking fuel then jerk into gear to keep moving normally. Once at work I was able to park the car and look at the engine and noticed nothing out of the ordinary. At about noon that day I got into the car to leave for lunch only to realize that I could no longer go into reverse. I would move the shifter from park to reverse then press the gas pedal to begin moving only to seem like I'm still stuck in park. I was able to put the car in Drive however I was in a parking spot facing a building and would not be able to exit only utilizing Drive. I was able to switch the car into neutral and push the car out of the parking spot by hand then drive off with there still being hesitation when the gears switched. I theorize that there may be an issue with the Power Train Control Module within the vehicle not allowing the clutch to shift effectively and a possible imbalance of fuel to air intake.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated that upon purchasing the vehicle, the vehicle would stall and shudder while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact had initially taken the vehicle to a dealer where the recall repair for NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V515000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) was performed. Recently, the contact stated that the same failure returned and the symptoms had worsened. The contact took the vehicle back to the same dealer where she was informed that they would replace the TCM for free however, the clutch disengagement failure would not be covered. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred her to NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 71,000.

STARTING IN OCTOBER OF 2020, EXACTLY ONE YEAR AFTER PURCHASING MY 2014 FORD FOCUS FROM THE FORD DEALERSHIP, MY CAR STARTED TO VIBRATE OCCASIONALLY. ALTHOUGH I WAS CONCERNED, I DID NOT WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT IT BECAUSE IT ONLY DID IT ONCE IN A WHILE. FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR, THE VIBRATIONS KEPT GETTING WORSE. NOW INSTEAD OF EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, IT WOULD HAPPEN EVERY-TIME I ACCELERATED AFTER A RIGHT HAND TURN. THIS WAS MORE NOTICEABLE WHEN THERE WAS MORE PEOPLE IN THE CAR. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT WHAT I WAS EXPERIENCING WAS A SHUDDER. EVEN THOUGH IT IS COMMON FOR THESE CARS, IT IS NOT SOMETHING I WANT TO DRIVE WITH EVERYDAY, THAT BEING SAID, I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, RAY PRICE FORD IN MOUNT POCONO, PA ASKING IF THEY CAN FIX MY CLUTCH BEING THAT IT'S UNDER WARRANTY. THEY STATED THAT WAS I WAS DESCRIBING SOUNDED LIKE THE CLUTCH SHUDDER AND THEY CAN TAKE CARE OF IT NO PROBLEM. FORD TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR. THEY STATED THAT THEY TEST DROVE IT AND THEY TESTED MY CLUTCHES AND IT PASSED THE 'SAFETY TEST'. I TOLD THEM TO TEST DRIVE IT AGAIN, IT IS NOT SAFE, AND BEING THAT I HAVE A 2014, IT IS ONLY A COUPLE OF MONTHS UNTIL MY CAR GOES OUT OF WARRANTY. I'D RATHER TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM NOW BEFORE IT BECOMES AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR THAT IS DIFFICULT TO FIX AND IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY. ANNE HATHAWAY THAT WORKS THERE REASSURED ME THAT MY CAR IS NOT AND THEY WOULD NOT BE FIXING IT BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING WRONG, SHE STATED 'THE FORD MECHANICS MAY JUST BE USED TO CARS LIKE THAT SO THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO'. IT SEEMS TO ME AS IF THEY ARE TRYING TO HAVE ME WAIT UNTIL I'M OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEN I HAVE TO PAY THOUSANDS TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION AND THE CLUTCHES, THAT IS NOT A SOLID SOLUTION FOR ME. I WOULD LIKE FOR FORD TO EITHER HAVE A LIFETIME WARRANTY FOR THE CLUTCHES/TRANSMISSION OR SIMPLY TAKE ALL THESE CARS OFF THE ROAD.
The vehicle suffered a transmission clutch failure. There was an extended warranty service for the transmission module but not for the transmission clutch. Other models from the same year included transmission clutch service extended warranty but not my vin#. It’s unfair that my vehicle suffered a clutch failure and it is not a required recall.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED PULLING TO THE LEFT. THE CONTACT MANUALLY PULLED THE STEERING TO THE CENTER TO CORRECT THE ISSUE AND PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE SLOWLY IN MANUAL STEERING MODE TO HIS GIRLFRIEND'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RACK AND PINION UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
The contact owns a 2014 FORD Focus. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle inadvertently shifted out of drive to neutral without driver input. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 80 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER STEERING AND A STOP SAFELY WARNING MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS NEEDED TO STEER THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. A HIGHWAY PATROL OFFICER ARRIVED ON THE SCENE TO ASSIST WITH MOVING THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. A TOW TRUCK WAS CALLED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE MICROCHIP CONNECTED TO THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V514000 (STEERING) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE CONTACT LATER WENT TO LARRY H. MILLER SUPER FORD (1340 500 W, SALT LAKE CITY, UT 84115) WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
THE 2014 FORD FOCUS HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST UNSTABLE AND UNSAFE VEHICLES I HAVE EVER DRIVEN. FROM THE CONSTANT SHUDDERING AND HESITATING TO THE CONSISTENT REPAIRS THIS CAR HAS TO HAVE. I WAS MERGING ONTO 380 IN MONROE COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA FROM THE TANNERSVILLE EXIT WHEN MY CAR HESITATED TO SPEED UP. I WAS GOING 40 WHEN I WAS TRYING TO SPEED UP TO AT LEAST 60, I HELD MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR AND MY CAR DID NOT PICK UP SPEED, IT DIDN'T GAIN SPEED, IT ACTUALLY DROPPED DOWN TO 35MPH. AFTER ABOUT 20 SECONDS MY CAR THEN PICKED UP SPEED AND I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GO 60MPH +. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO BE IN, ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CLUTCHES DO NOT LAST LONG AND CONSTANTLY HAVE TO BE REPAIRED, FORD EXTENDED WARRANTY IS A JOKE, I HAVE A 2014 AND EVEN THOUGH IT IS ONLY AT 53,XXX MILES, BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN SEVEN YEARS I AM OUT OF LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO REPAIRS. I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY $1,500 + EVERY COUPLE THOUSAND MILES WHEN THESE CLUTCHES GO. THE POWER SHIFT DCT WAS HORRIBLY MANUFACTURED AND I TRULY BELIEVE THAT THIS CAR WILL BE THE CAUSE OF MY DEATH SOMEDAY. I'M HOPING FORD CAN EITHER BUY BACK MY VEHICLE OR THE WHOLE CAR WILL BE RECALLED, IT SHOULD BE HONESTLY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HER DAUGHTER WAS STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE STEERING MALFUNCTION WARNING MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 57,000.
MY CARS STEERING WHEEL DEFAULT WARNING CAME UP AND MY WHOLE CAR FROZE.IT WAS UN DRIVABLE. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO POWER STEERING I WAS I'M MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENED
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE HOUSING FOR THE PCM BROKE AND THE WHOLE THING FELL HITTING THE DRIVER FRONT TIRE AND DRAGGING ON THE WHILE ABLE TO STOP. THE CAR THEN SHUT OFF AND AND HAD ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION ERROR CODES. TOOK THE CAR TO SHOP TO BE FIXED. A FEW WEEKS LATER THE CAR STARTS SHIFTING HARD AND SOMETIMES NOT SHIFTING PAST 3RD GEAR THROUGH OUT THE DAY BY THW END OF THE DAY REVERSE QUITS WORKING. THE NEXT DROVE CAR 15 MILES TO TOWN SHUT IT OFF AND HAS NOT STARTED SINCE. WAITING ON DEALERSHIP TO HAVE AVAILABLE TIME SLOT TO REPAIR.
I have a big problem with my transmission, when parking the car, I can't reverse and sometimes the gear doesn't enter
SINCE I PURCHASED MY DAUGHTER A USED CERTIFIED FORD FOCUS FROM THE DEALERSHIP I'VE HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE SHIFTING PROPERLY. THE WORST CASE IS WHEN AT HIGH SPEED (60 MPH OR MORE) THE CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN GOES INTO 1ST OR 2ND GEAR CAUSING A TREMENDOUS JERK THAT ALMOST CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO GO OUT OF CONTROL. JUST YESTERDAY (14MAR21) I WAS DRIVING THRU A CONSTRUCTION ZONE ON I10 THRU THE TOWN OF BENSON ARIZONA AT A SPEED OF 60 MPH WHEN THE TREMENDOUS JERK HAPPENED AGAIN WITH THE RPM SHOOTING UP TO 6,000 ON MY TACHOMETER FOR 5 TO 7 SECONDS. THE NORMAL RPM AT A STEADY SPEED OF 60 SHOULD BE 2,200 RPM. THE TRACTOR TRAILER RIG DRIVING BEHIND ME ALMOST RAN INTO MY FORD FOCUS, BUT LUCKILY THE DRIVER HAD HIS EYES ON WHAT WAS HAPPENING. I GOT OFF THE INTERSTATE AT THE NEXT EXIT, DROVE ONTO A TWO LANE COUNTRY ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO REPEAT THE DOWNSHIFT PROBLEM FIVE TIMES, BUT AT THE REDUCED SPEED OF 40 MPH. THE JERK WAS STILL THERE BUT NOT AS HARSH OR UNCONTROLLING AS AT 60 MPH. THE NORMAL RPM AT 40 WHEN ACCELERATING SHOULD BE 2400 RPM, BUT AT THE TIME OF THE DOWNSHIFT PROBLEM IT SHOT UP TO 4500 RPM. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE FORD DEALERSHIP REPAIR FACILITY NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE SEPTEMBER OF 2020 AND STILL IS NOT FIXED. IT IS THERE AS I AM TYPING THIS REPORT. WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THERE WAS NO MENTION OF THE FORD FOCUS CARS HAVING ANY KIND OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, OR ANY INFORMATION REGARDING A RECALL OR CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT DUE TO THE FORD FOCUS TRANSMISSION. MY HIGHEST CONCERN IS FOR THE SAFETY OF MY DAUGHTER WHO IS THE PRIMARY DRIVER AND ANYBODY ELSE ON THE ROAD WHO COULD POSSIBLY BE HURT OR KILLED BECAUSE OF A CAR THAT CAN GO OUT OF CONTROL DUE TO THE DOWNSHIFTING OF THE GEARS WHILE AT HIGH SPEED. I BELIEVE THAT I HAVE THE FORD FOCUS THAT CAN PROVE THAT THIS AUTOMOBILE SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ROAD.
I HAVE HAD SO MUCH TROUBLE WITH THIS CAR I AM UPSIDE DOWN ON IT. NOW ALL THE ELECTRICAL STUFF SEEMS TO BE SHORTING. I WAS DRIVING AND MY FUEL GAUGE KEPT GOING TO ZERO THEN BACK UP TO HALF A TANK. THEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. MY HORN DOESN'T WORK WHICH IS IS HUGE SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME THOSE ARE JUST THE NEW ISSUES I ALSO HAVE HAD THE TCM REPLACED TWICE AND IT NEVER MADE A DIFFERENCE TO THE CAR.
Power steering went completely out while driving. No accidents occurred but I almost drove off the road due to not being able to control steering wheel. Warning screen on dash notified me after power steering went out.. Took vehicle to my local Ford dealership for diagnosis; code U3000. Steering gear assembly was bad. Vehicle had 64,352 miles on it at the time.
CONTINUES TO HAVE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING ISSUES EVEN AFTER BEING ASSESSED BY 2 MECHANICS. SHUTTERS IN FIRST GEAR ON TAKEOFF. LOSES POWER WHILE IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to turn off as needed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. While driving, the engine was sputtering. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP BADLY, EVEN TOTALLY DISENGAGE. I WAS GETTING ON A VERY BUSY ROAD AND ACCELERATED AND SUDDENLY THE CAR DECELERATED; THE CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST REAR ENDED ME, HONKED HIS HORN, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO. IT SLIPPED NOT AS BADLY LAST YEAR AND FORD FIXED IT, SAYING IT WAS UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION, BUT NOW THEY SAY IT IS NOT COVERED AND WILL COST $2200 TO FIX. THERE ARE PAGES AND PAGES ON THE INTERNET TALKING ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. IT IS DANGEROUS!
The stereo/radio emits a very loud popping/cracking noise. The noise happens whether the car is turned or off. This puts the driver and passengers in danger because having a loud noise randomly happen while driving can cause the driver to jerk the wheel as a reflex/reaction. This can cause an accident on the road, putting the driver and passengers at risk, along with other vehicles and it’s passengers at risk. The manufacturer has not acknowledged the issue, and no guidance has been issued for owners. There are no warning lights or messages in place. This happens randomly and is very scary.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE STATIONARY AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED AS THE POWER STEERING ASSIST SERVICE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER, STEER THE WHEELS OFF THE FREEWAY ON TO THE MAIN ROAD AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL IN THE PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO GERMAIN FORD OF BEAVERCREEK (2356 HELLER DR, DAYTON, OH 45434, (937)429-1300) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER AWAITING THE DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION. THE CONTACT MENTIONED A POWER TRAIN RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN AND RESEARCH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V523000 (POWER TRAIN) WAS REFERENCED AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 84,000. ## VIN FAILED ## 2014 FORD FOCUS ##*DT
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was jerking abnormally. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and inspected the vehicle but found no issues. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the engine mounts were replaced however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact was informed that the canister purge valve was stuck. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the automatic dual-clutch was damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS VEHICLE SHUTTERS, SLIPS, LOSES POWER OR LOSES ACCELERATION WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A DEAD STOP, OR ACCELERATING IN SPEED WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. THIS HAPPENS FROM A DEAD STOP, WHEN ACCELERATING IN TRAFFIC TO MERGE, CHANGE LANES OR PASS A CAR; PRETTY MUCH ANYTIME THE GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED THE CAR WILL LURCH AND/OR SHUDDER AND/OR LOSE POWER, RESULTING IN MANY NEAR MISSES AND ALMOST ACCIDENTS IN THE TIME THAT WE HAVE OWNED THE CAR. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED USED MID-2015. BY NOVEMBER 2015 THE FIRST REPLACEMENT OF THE CLUTCHES WAS DONE. IN MARCH OF 2018, JUST A FEW MONTHS OUT OF THE TWO-YEAR WARRANTY, THE CLUTCHES NEEDED REPLACING AGAIN. IT WAS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR US, SO WE OPTED TO HAVE THE SOFTWARE FLASHED INSTEAD. UNDER THE EXTENDED PARTS COVERAGE OFFERED BY FORD, THE CLUTCHES WERE REPLACED FOR A SECOND TIME IN DECEMBER OF 2019. BY JANUARY 2021 THE CAR NEEDED NEW CLUTCHES FOR THE THIRD TIME. THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED FORD TO SEE IF THEY COULD DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, AND FORD REFUSES BECAUSE THE CAR AND THE CLUTCHES ARE SLIGHTLY OUT OF WARRANTY, THE CLUTCHES ONLY OUT BY A MONTH, EVEN THOUGH THIS SIX-YEAR-OLD CAR IS ON ITS THIRD SET OF CLUTCHES.
MY MAIN CONCERN NOW IS THE DASH BOARD MESSAGE THAT READS ( STEERING LOSS STOP SAFELY ) I HAVE LOST ALL POWER STEERING OF MY CAR AND CANNOT DRIVE IT. I ALMOST HAD A WRECK WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE CAR IS NOW PARKED WAITING TO FIND OUT IF THIS A DEFECT AS WAS ON EARLIER MODELS OF THIS SAME MODEL. I AM ALSO EXPERIENCING GAS GAUGE IS IRREGULAR READINGS BEFORE AND AFTER DRIVING AS WELL AS VERY POOR GAS MILEAGE CODE P1450
I HAD JUST LEFT MY HOUSE DRIVING ON THE ROAD AND THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD . I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL SO I STOPPED GOT OUT AND MY BOYFRIEND WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TURNED AROUND AND DROVE IT BACK THE SHORT DISTANCE TO MY HOME WHERE IT HAS BEEN PARKED SINCE THAT DAY. I WROTE A LETTER TO FORD ASKING FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN GETTING THE CAR REPAIRED ARE REPURCHASE IT FROM ME THEY REPLIED STATING THAT THEY UNDERSTOOD BUT COULD NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START-UP WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TWICE TO ELKINS FORDLAND (696 BEVERLY PIKE, ELKINS, WV 26241, (800) 296-2486) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VALVE WAS INOPERABLE AND THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS WARPED AND UNEVEN. THE CONTACT WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK, VALVE, AND FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO KEEP FUEL IN THE VEHCILE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS LIKE THE FAILURE LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 19V515000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
There is a CSP recall on shudder clutch. The car shudders to the extreme and sometimes doesn't shift into second or third gear for 2-3 seconds nearly causing accidents while merging onto highways several times. I contacted I have taken it to the Ford dealership 3 times and called Ford and now want to acknowledge that that is the problem, but unfortunately the warranty has expired. I have been dealing with this for two years.
WHEN I ACCELERATE IT KEEP STALLING, SPEED WON'T CHANGE IT TAKES LIKE 10 SECONDS TO PICK UP SPEED.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving from a complete stop and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle shuddered. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the transmission clutch was replaced under an unknown recall. However, the contact stated while driving 45 MPH 6-months later, the vehicle downshifted to first gear independently. The contact was unable to veer to the side of the road. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle. The contact shifted from park(P) to drive (D); however, the transmission remained stuck in first gear and the vehicle would not exceed 10 MPH while driving. The contact was able to drive back to his residence. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module (TCM) had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the parts were on back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the parts were on back order. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING, THE RADIO WILL MAKE A LOUD CRACKING SOUND FROM THE SPEAKERS, OTHER TIMES IT WILL *CRACK* AND ALL RADIO/BLUETOOTH CONTROLS STOP WORKING, AND OTHER TIMES THE RADIO WILL *CRACK* AND STOP WORKING ENTIRELY, WHERE THERE IS NO SOUND UNTIL THE CAR IS TURNED OFF, AND TURNED ON AGAIN.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated.
