The contact owns a 2007 Ford Freestyle. The contact stated while driving approximately 10 MPH in a parking lot, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle jolted forward. The contact stated that the vehicle was also hesitating before moving forward when the gear shifter was shifted into drive. The contact stated that the failure was a recurring failure and there was an abnormal sound coming from underneath the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure recurred at various speeds. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that there was an internal failure that had caused the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Under carriage is completely rotten floor boards ,shock mounts, rear frame. Garage on lunenburg st.in Fitchburg,MA said that it was so rotten that he couldn't find a safe spot to put the car on the lift to do exhaust work. Put in a complaint in Sept 2023 with NHTSA ID number 11544728. I explained to them that I had contacted Ford Motor Co. and Ford didn't want to hear it. This car is problematic.Transmission does not shift properly. This vehicle never had a recall. There is dozens of consumer complaints. This vehicle is a hazard on the road and is very expensive to repair. Under carriage is unrepairable making this vehicle junk.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Freestyle. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the transmission failed to shift properly. The contact stated that the transmission warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the floorboard, undercarriage, and shock mounts were rusted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was unknown.
I had an oil change for vehicle. Service technician listed on report of vehicle that the subframe has several holes in it and a long crack along the seam . It was serviced by the facility that does my servicing so I believe that qualifies as a dealer. I transport four children back and forth to school and am very concerned about the vehicle “ falling apart!” I understand that the Taurus and the Freestar have the same subframe and those have been recalled. I would think that the Freestyle should be recalled also. There were no warning lights or messages related to this problem. I have now reported this and am asking you to take action to repair this problem. Thank you!
Front crossmember/subframe that supports the motor and transmission as well as connects controls arms for both front wheels rusted out almost causing an accident due to loss of vehicle control.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Freestyle. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH or above, the vehicle would suddenly go into limp mode and fail to accelerate. There was a warning light that displayed a wrench however, the contact did not know what was indicated specifically. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact stated that after researching the cause of the failure he became aware that the transmission was faulty. Additionally, that type of transmission was discontinued by the manufacturer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
WHEN DRIVING THE CAR SUDDENLY LURCHES FORWARD. I HAVE HAD THE CAR 3 DAYS AND IT HAS DONE THIS TWICE. BOTH TIMES I WAS ON CITY STREETS DRIVING UP A SLIGHT INCLINE. THE FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH. TWO DIFFERENT TOWNS TWO DIFFERENT HILLS. THE FIRST WAS A FREEWAY OVERPASS AND THE SECOND WAS JUST A STREET ON A HILL. TODAY I HAD JUST PULLED OUT FROM A STOP SIGN AND WAS ACCELERATING UP THE HILL BETWEEN 20-30 MPH IT LURCHED/SURGED AGAIN!
MY 2007 FORD FREESTYLE 2WD CVT TRANSMISSION MAKING NOISE IN PARK AND NEUTRAL. TOOK TO MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE INPUT SHAFT AND BEARING WAS BAD. TRANSMISSION SHOP SAID SAME THING. DID RESEARCH AND FOUND HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT SAME ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO STALL WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT APPEARING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO PARK. THE CONTACT THEN PLACED THE VEHICLE BACK INTO DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE HESITATED UPON DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE FAILED ACCELERATE ABOVE 15 MPH. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO RESTARTED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A POSSIBLE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE CONTACT UNREPAIRED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 97,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE FORD FREESTYLE HAD A SUDDEN JOLT/WIGGLE DURING A LONG SWEEPING TURN TO THE LEFT. CONTINUED DRIVING HOME FOR 200 MILES WITHOUT ISSUES. THE DRIVER'S REAR WHEEL APPEARED CROOKED (SPLAYING OUT) AFTERWARDS. CAR WAS BROUGHT IN FOR INSPECTION AND THE REAR SUBFRAME WAS BROKEN. MECHANIC NOTICED LARGE AMOUNT OF RUST. CAR HAS 161K MILES.
MY 2007 FORD FREESTYLE IS LUNGING WHEN I AM STOPPED AND TAKE MY FOOT OFF BRAKE PEDAL. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS THIS COULD EASILY CAUSED OTHER PROPERTY DAMAGE OR EVEN BODILY INJURY SHOULD SOMEONE BE WALKING IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE. I SEE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS WITH REGARDS TO THIS PROBLEM. THE LUNGING SEEMS WORSE WHEN IT IS HOT OUTSIDE AND CAR AC IS ON. IF VEHICLE IS ALLOWED TO IDLE IN HOT WEATHER FOR MORE THAN 5-10 MINUTES THE WRENCH LIGHT WILL GENERALLY COME OUT AND ENGINE WILL DIE. AN ACCIDENT COULD EASILY OCCUR WHICH WOULD NOT BE THE FAULT OF THE DRIVER.
WELL I NOTICED THIS ISSUE A COUPLE MONTHS AGO, I BOUGHT THE CAR BACK IN JULY OF 2019 WITH 123,000 MILES. WHENEVER I GO TO PARK OR REVERSE WITH THE A/C ON OR ANYTHING MY CAR LUNGES WITHOUT ME EVEN TOUCHING THE ACCELERATION AND I HAVE TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES NOT TO HIT ANYTHING. AND TODAY I REVERSED OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND IT LUNGES AS USUAL AND WHEN I STARTED DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD A WRENCH LIGHT FLASHED ON AND I WASN'T GETTING AS MUCH ACCELERATION AS USUAL. I'VE BEEN RESEARCHING AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD WITH THIS CAR. IT JUST SCARES ME WITH IT LUNGING AND SPEEDING UP ON ITS OWN IN DRIVE THRUS, PARKING LOTS/SPOTS, AND SIMPLY WHEN I'M SITTING AND TURN MY WHEEL JUST A LITTLE BIT IT DECIDES IT WANTS TO ACCELERATE ON ITS ON! ALL THIS HAPPENED MOSTLY WHEN I JUST START DRIVING, OR PULLING IN SOMEWHERE OR REVERSING, AND SOMETIMES WHEN I'M STATIONARY AT A DRIVE THRU.
DURING LOW SPEEDS THE VEHICLE SURGES!. WITHOUT HOLDING THE BRAKE DOWN HARD THIS WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE AND IN SOME CASES OTHERS. THIS OCCURS SOMETIMES AT A COMPLETE STOP LIKE IN LINE AT A RESTAURANT OR EVEN IN A PARKING SPOT. THIS OBVIOUSLY ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN GEAR (DRIVE). THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES AND USUALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS WARMED UP. IT HAS ALSO DIED AFTER THE SURGE. *TR

THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT AN UNKNOWN COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE'S BATTERY AND BODY CONTROL MODULE WERE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE11018 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 161,000.
LUNGING, LUGGING, WHILE STATIONARY OR AT LOW SPEED, FORWARD OR REVERSE, WARNING LIGHTS COME ON. I SEE THIS SAME COMPLAINT HUNDREDS OF TIMES ON THIS NHTSA SITE AS WELL AS INTERNET SEARCHES. AFTER READING NUMEROUS DETAILED ISSUES AND MATCHING MINE TO SPECIFIC COMPLAINTS, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ISSUE IS THE THROTTLE BODY. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MY TRUSTED MECHANIC FOR REMOVAL AND THOROUGH CLEANING. THIS INEXPENSIVE REPAIR RESOLVED THE ENGINE LUNGING ISSUE. PLEASE PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION TO FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENTS VIA BULLETINS OR WHATEVER, SO THIS PROBLEM CAN BE RESOLVED EASILY AND QUICKLY. THE LUNGING IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM, WITH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SURGING FORWARD FROM AN IDLING POSITION WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE. I SEE THAT EXPENSIVE, UNNECESSARY REPAIRS ARE BEING PERFORMED WHICH HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ISSUE. IT IS A THROTTLE BODY THAT JUST NEEDS TO BE CLEANED.

AUTO WAS REPAIRED 2008 BY NON FORD DEALER BEFORE THE RECALL HAPPENED FOR PROBLEM OF AUTO SURGING FORWARD AND BACKWARDS. THEN FORD REIMBURSED THE MONEY $700.00 OF REPAIR. NOW CAR HAS 110K MILES AND IS SURGING FORWARD AND BACKWARDS AGAIN . VERY DANGEROUS FOR ME AND FAMILY. I WOULD LIKE FOR FORD TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE AGAIN. ORIGINAL REPAIR WAS FOR THE CAR SURGING FORWARD AND BACKWARDS AND I FEEL THAT WITH ONLY 110K MILES ON IT, I SHOULD NOT BE EXPERIENCING THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE AGAIN!!!
TRANSMISSION MAKES A BUZZIN,WHIRRING SOUND IN PARK AND REVERSE...FROM WHAT I READ ONLINE FROM MANY OTHERS..THIS NOISE PRELUDES TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD...MOST OF THE TIME CAUSING AN EMERGENCY SITUATION THAT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WITH PERSONAL INJURY...FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, OR SHOULD BE BY THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OVER THE YEARS, BUT HAS YET TO OWE UP TO THE TRANSMISSION FAILURES, CAUSING A MONETARY HARDSHIP FOR THE OWNERS OF SAID VEHICLES OR THE ALMOST TOTAL LOSS OF THE VEHICLES VALUE. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE COMPLAINTS SUCH AS THESE, THEN DEMAND THE MANUFACTURERS START THE RECALL PROCESS TO PERMANENTLY REPAIR SAID TRANSMISSIONS ( CVT ) OR REPLACE COMPLETE UNIT AT MANUFACTURERS EXPENSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS MORE PREVALENT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS BEING STOPPED OR WHEN THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS PLACED IN REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE, BUT WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. A DASHBOARD LIGHT REFUSES TO GO OFF. WE CANNOT PASS INSPECTION WITH THIS ON...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PULL OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE CONTACT NOTICED FUEL RUNNING DOWN THE INCLINE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS A FRACTURE ON THE FUEL TANK. ALSO, BOTH FUEL PUMPS WERE CORRODED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
TOOK VEHICLE TO MECHANIC FOR ROUTINE ANNUAL STATE INSPECTION. VEHICLE PASSED ALL ITEMS EXCEPT THE K MEMBER FRAME (SUBFRAME) HAD EXCESSIVE RUST AND HAD CORRODED TO THE POINT THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THIS DEFECT WAS CORRECTED. ESTIMATED COST FOR REPAIR WAS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF $1000. VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 140K MILES AND IS OTHERWISE IN VERY GOOD CONDITIION.

DRIVING DOWN STREET. MY CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS RESISTING MY GIVING IT GAS. @ WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. (THE ENGINE AND THE WRENCH) PULLED OVER AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC. FAULT CODES FOR CVT TRANSMISSION, RANGE PERFORMANCE, CONTROL SOLENOID, CONTROL SYS. NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO REPAIR. NO WAY TO REBUILD TRANSMISSION OR PURCHASE REBUILT. MUST REPLACE WITH USED TRANSMISSION THAT WILL MOST LIKELY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS.
I LEFT WORK AT 8:10 P.M. STARTING DRIVING HOME AND MY BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND THEN EVERYTHING SHUT DOWN RADIO A.C. ALL GAUGES WINDOWS POWER LOCKS LIGHTS . I WAS PANICKED I HAD JUST PICKED UP THE CAR THE AFTERNOON BEFORE FROM THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR A RECALL FIX BECAUSE THIS SAME THING HAPPENED ALREADY I WAS TOLD THE RECALL FIX WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM OBVIOUSLY IT DID NOT. NOW FORD WANTS TO CHARGE A DIAGNOSTIC FEE TO FIND THE PROBLEM AFTER FAILING TO FIX THE PROBLEM TO BEGIN WITH . THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE DEALT WITH I AM A MOM AND A GRAND MOTHER AND ALWAYS HAVE A CHILD IN MY CAR THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE A GREAT CONCERN TO FORD .
CAR ACCELERATING WHEN AC IN ON AND AFTER AC HAS BEEN OF AFTER THAT 1 DAY USE. AC NOT WORKING PROPERTY. SENSOR ISSUES. ELECTRICAL ISSUES, EXAMPLE WINDOW NO LONGER ROLLS DOWN. TAKEN IT TO DIFFERENT MECHANICS BUT THEY CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. KNOW IT'S TURNING OFF ALL IN A SUDDEN AND HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CAR BRAKES TO KICK IN. HAD THAT CHECK BUT THEY SAID EVERYTHING IS GOOD, BRAKES AND ETC.... HAVE ALREADY PUT AROUND $5,000 AND STILL NOT GETTING IT TO WORK SAFELY. ALSO STEARING WHEEL GETS STUCK AS IF YOU CAN'T TURN THE WHEELS ON THE CAR AND THEN TURNS OF AFTER SECONDS.
ENGINE SURGES WHEN STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED. THIS HAPPENS WHEN IDLING OR AT LOW SPEEDS. SURGING CAUSES CAR TO ACCELERATE UNLESS DRIVERS FOOT IS READY TO STOP IT BY STEPPING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. VERY DANGEROUS TO ANY NON AWARE DRIVERS.
MY 2007 FORD FREESTYLE SEL STALLED OUT ON ME WHEN I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE AND A WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON I PUT A NEW THROTTLE BODY ON IT AND ALSO NEW TRANSMISSION FILTERS AND CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID
| PURCHASED A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. IT WAS USED AT ABOUT 170,000 MILES. AFTER HAVING IT FOR A FEW MONTHS. I BEGAN TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 55 MPH AND IT BEGAN TO SURGE. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND I COULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. I KNOW THAT OTHERS HAVE AS WELL. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS PART HAD BEEN RECALLED. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS TRUE. I DECIDED TO MAKE A COMPLAINT AS OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT IS WHAT THEY SUGGESTED.
WHEN SHIFTING TRANSMISSION INTO REVERSE, VEHICLE HAS A HIGH ACCELERATION AND BRAKING NEEDS TO BE DONE VERY HARD TO CONTROL .

THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT WAS NOT UNTIL THE CABIN TEMPERATURE WARMED UP BEFORE THE DOORS COULD BE SECURELY CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000.
MY CAR RANDOMLY SURGES. THIS USUALY HAPPENS AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN THE CAR IS AT OR CLOSE TO IDLE. THE CAR WILL SUGRE LIKE THE GASS IS BEING PRESSED BUT IT IS DEFINETLY NOT. IT ALSO SURGES RANDOMLY WHEN SHIFTED INTO DIFFERENT GEARS PARK,REVERSE,NEUTRAL. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT IS INPREDICTABLE.
MY FREESTYLE ACCELERATORS/ LUNGES FORWARD FOR "NO REASON" WHEN I'M PUSHING ON BRAKE TO PARK. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES AT GROCERY STORE, WAL-MARY ETC. LAST TUESDAY WAS THE SCARIEST. I WAS WITH MY MOM DRIVING TO THE BANK AND AS I WAS PARKING IT ACCELERATED MUCH MORE THAN IT NORMALLY DOES. WE HOPPED THE CURB AND ALMOST CRASHED INTO THE BANK WALL. MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE! I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL MECHANICS WHO HAVE NO CLUE AND CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I WENT IMMEDIATELY TO SEEN ANOTHER RECOMMEND SEASONED MECHANIC WHO SAID HE HAD NO IDEA WHAT IT COULD BE AND SAW NOTHING WRONG. I'M SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAT OR EVEN PARK IT. I ONLY PARK AWAY FROM OTHER CARS NOW. IF SOMEONE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN FRONT OF MY CAT AT THE BANK, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM AND SAW OTHER PEOPLE HAD REPORTED THE SAME THING AND I'M HOPING THAT YOU GUYS CAN TELL ME WHAT THE ISSUE WAS SINCE THERE WERE NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO OPERATE NORMALLY; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE WITHOUT WARNING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, STOP SIGNS, OR WHEN MAKING TURNS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000.
THE CAR IS SELF ACCELERATING!! IT IS VERY SCARY. IT DOES IT WHEN I AM ON DRIVE TRYING TO SLOW DOWN AND STOP OR WHEN I HAVE BEEN PARKED AND TRY TO BACKUP SLOWLY TO MOVE IN REVERSE. IT THEREFORE, HAPPENS MOSTLY AT RED LIGHTS, STOP SIGNS, AND IN PARKING LOTS. I AM TERRIFIED THE CAR WILL RUN OVER A PERSON CROSSING THE STREET OR WALKING BEHIND MY CAR IN A PARKING SPACE. WHEN THE CAR SELF ACCELERATES, IT DOES IT SUDDENLY AND FORCEFULLY. IN THAT SPLIT SECOND I SLAM ON THE BRAKES TO AVOID RUNNING OVER A CROSSING PEDESTRIAN OR WINDING UP AT CROSSROADS AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. WHEN I STEP ON THE BRAKES, THE CAR SHAKES AND DIES. I HAVE TO QUICKLY RESTART THE CAR AGAIN. THIS CONSTANT DYING AND RESTARTING OF THE CAR AT RED LIGHTS AND PARKING LOTS HAD DRAINED MY BATTERY. THIS EXACT SELF ACCELERATING PROBLEM HAPPENED IN 2011. IT WAS "FIXED" AT THE MAXWELL FORD DEALERSHIP IN 5000 SOUTH I-35 78745. THEY SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE. I HAD A NEW AC COMPRESSOR PUT IN RECENTLY AND SUDDENLY THE PROBLEM CAME BACK. THE LAST FOUR YEARS THE AC HAS NOT WORKED WELL. I WONDER IF THERE IS A A CONNECTION BETWEEN THE PROPER FUNCTIONALITY OF BOTH PARTS - THE THROTTLE AND THE AC. I AM DESPERATE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AGAIN, AND OF COURSE AT NO EXPENSE OF MINE SINCE IT HAS BEEN OBVIOUSLY A CONTINUOUS FACTORY/DESIGN DEFECT. PLEASE HELP, I HAVE LESS THAN $200 IN MY ACCOUNT AND I DEPEND ON MY CAR FOR MY LIVELIHOOD.
2007 FORD FREESTYLE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BRAKE HOSE LEAK. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKES FAILED, NEARLY CAUSING A CRASH. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A BREAKLINE HOSE CONNECTED TO THE ABS RUPTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED.*JS
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR AT THE TIME AND FELT A LARGE BANG THEN SHUDDERING WITH THE VEHICLE BECOMING DIFFICULT TO STEER AND LOSING CONTROL, VEERING OFF THE ROAD EDGE. SHE REGAINED CONTROL AND BROUGHT THE CAR TO A SAFE STOP. SHE CALLED ME FOR ASSISTANCE AND I FOUND THE REAR SUB FRAME IS INFERIOR IN CONSTRUCTION AND HAD EXTENSIVE PERFORATION INCONSISTENT WITH THE REST OF THE VEHICLE. THIS CAUSED THE REAR CONTROL ARM TO SEPARATE FROM THE SUB FRAME. THE REAR WHEEL BECAME UNSTABLE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE CONTROL. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD ON THE ISSUE, THEY HAVE RECALLS ON THE ESCAPE AND WINDSTAR FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO FOUND THE SAME REPORTS FROM OTHER FREESTYLE OWNERS. FORD REFUSED TO ASSIST ON THE MATTER. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THIS OCCURRED AT RELATIVELY LOW SPEED APPROX. 35 MILES PER OUR. HAD THIS OCCURRED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS MY DAUGHTER MAY HAVE BEEN INJURED OR KILLED.
ENGINE WILL STALL (COLD OR WARM CONDITION) RESULTING IN A TOTAL LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. VEHICLE WILL TAKE SOME TIME FOR IT TO RESTART. CAR MAY THEN RUN FOR SEVERAL MINUTES WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD OR STALL OUT UPON RIVING OFF.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS ABOVE 50 MPH WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED BELOW 30 MPH INDEPENDENTLY CAUSING AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING SOUND FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE POWERTRAIN WARNING SENOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL HERTRICH FORD-LINCOLN DEALER OF MILFORD LOCATED ON 1427 BAY RD, MILFORD, DE, 19963 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT MULTIPLE ERROR CODES INTERNALLY WITH THE TRANSMISSION, AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD RECORD THE FAILURE, HOWEVER THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE BUT WERE AWARE OF THE HIGH VOLUME OF COMPLAINTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 98,897.
I WAS ON THE PARKWAY GOING ABOUT 65 MPH. I STOPPED AT A LIGHT TO TURN. AS I PRESSED ON THE PEDAL THE CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE NORMALLY. IT WAS SLUGGISH. I PULLED OVER TO LET TRAFFIC PASS. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND TURNED IT ON AGAIN. THE CAR STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT ABOUT A 1/4 MILE BEFORE IT STOPPED ACCELERATING. IN THAT 1/4 MILE THE CAR BARELY ACCELERATED. I HAD TO PRESS THE PEDAL FAR TO RAISE THE RPMS A LITTLE BIT. HAD I CONTINUED TO DRIVE DOWN THAT PARKWAY I WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. I HAD TO BE TOWED HOME.
ON MAY 27TH, 2017, WE WERE TRAVELING AT 50-55 MPH WITH CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN OUR FORD FREESTYLE BEGAN LURCHING BADLY AND THE RPM BEGAN SURGING. IN A A FEW MINUTES THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT, BATTERY LIGHT, ABS LIGHT AND AIRBAG LIGHT. OUR SPEEDOMETER BEGAN FLIPPING BACK AND FORTH UNCONTROLLABLY. AT THAT POINT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT EXCEED 25-30 MPH EVEN AT FULL SPEED. WE COULD HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED! WE IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF AT A GAS STATION TO CHECK THE OIL LEVELS AND CHECK TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG. WE STARTED THE VEHICLE BACK AND RETURNED HOME CAUTIOUSLY. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST LUBE PLACE AND GOT THE OIL CHANGED. WE RETURNED HOME AND RESEARCHED ABOUT THE ISSUE. MY HUSBAND (WHO IS VERY MECHANICALLY INCLINED) DECIDED TO FOLLOW A MECHANIC'S ADVICE AND CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY THOROUGHLY WITH SEAFOAM AND A TOOTHBRUSH. IT WAS FILTHY AND HAD LOTS OF DEPOSITS BUILT UP ON IT. HE UNPLUGGED THE BATTERY TO RESET EVERYTHING AND REINSTALLED THE THROTTLE BODY. IT PROVED INEFFECTIVE SO WE PURCHASED A NEW THROTTLE BODY FOR $320 FROM ADVANCED AUTO PARTS. HE INSTALLED IT TODAY AND THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED. WE ARE AT A LOSS AND ARE NOT SURE WHAT TO DO. THIS ISSUE SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED. I AM A MOTHER OF 3 AND AM CURRENTLY PREGNANT WITH MY FOURTH CHILD AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE!
CTV TRANSMISSION. GOES INTO CREEP MODE. WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF 1ST. GEAR. TURN CAR OFF AND ON. RUNS FINE. TRANSMISSION GUY SAYS THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
AFTER STARTING THE CAR IN MY DRIVEWAY, I HEARD A LOUD 'HELICOPTER SOUND' UNDER THE HOOD (TO WHICH I HAVE COME TO FIND OUT WAS THE TRANSMISSION (CVT)). WHEN I PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE, IT VIOLENTLY RACED FORWARD, HITTING THE BRICK WALL OF MY HOUSE. I HAVE PUSHED IT A FEW FEET BACK AND HAVE NOT RESTARTED THE CAR FOR FEAR OF THIS HAPPENING AGAIN.

MY 2007 FORD FREESTYLE AWD IS SUFFERING FROM WELL KNOWN AND WIDELY REPORTED CVT FAILURE. THE VEHICLE MAKES "HELICOPTER" SOUNDS WHILE IN BOTH PARK AND NEUTRAL. MULTIPLE REPAIR SHOPS ARE WELL AWARE THAT CVT TRANSMISSION IS FAILING, AND FORD IS NOT SUPPLYING REPLACEMENT PARTS.
