THIS CAR HAS A BAD SURGE PROBLEM ESPECIALLY WHEN THE FAN IS ON. MY FOOT WILL BE ON THE BRAKE AND IT WILL JUST LUNGE FORWARD. I CANNOT RUN THE AIR IN THE SUMMER OR THE CAR WILL JUST CUT OFF MORE NOTICEABLY WHEN I AM TURNING A CORNER. I HAVE HAD THE THROTTLE CLEANED AND CONTINUE TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT IN MY 2007 FORD FREESTYLE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WITHOUT WARNING THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD. I WAS EASING INTO THE SPOT. FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS LUNGE WITH THE RPM'S HOVERING ABOVE NORMAL. PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE, HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME MECHANICAL PROBLEMS IN THE SAME VEHICLE AS MY OWN. APPEARS FROM PREVIOUS REPORTS READ THAT THE ISSUE HAS TO DO WITH A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. THIS HAPPENS IN BOTH DRIVE OR REVERSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SURGE AND THE RPMS INCREASED EXCESSIVELY WHICH WAS DISPLAYED IN THE RED MARKINGS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SHE NEEDED A NEW THROTTLE BODY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH THE CONTACT HEARD A CLANGING SOUND IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PROCEEDED TO ACCELERATE BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT GEARS AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE TO ANY GEAR. THE CONTACT WAS FORCED TO PUSH THE VEHICLE INTO A PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS GOING TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
MY 2007 FORD FREESTYLE HAS BEEN ACCELERATING WITHOUT THE GAS PEDAL BEING PRESSED. IT USUALLY OCCURS WHEN IN REVERSE. IT DOES NOT DO IT EVERYTIME. THE LAST FEW DAYS IT HAS BEEN DOING IT IN DRIVE AS WELL. TODAY IT WAS ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE WARNING LIGHT TO COME ON. I WAS ABLE TO STOP MY VEHICLE WITH THE BRAKES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SURGE FORWARD, WHILE THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT WAS ACTIVATED, THEN THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY STALL AND HE WOULD NOTICE A WARNING LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 30,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. AFTER WARMING UP THE VEHICLE, AND LETTING THE ENGINE DROP DOWN TO 1000 RPMS, WHEN THE CAR IS PUT IN GEAR THE TACH JUMPS UP TO ABOUT 1500 RPMS AND THE VEHICLE WANTS TO LURCH. I AM ABLE TO KEEP THE CAR FROM GOING FORWARD BY REMAINING ON THE BRAKE, BUT IT IS A DEFINITE LURCHING SENSATION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD LUNGE FORWARD WHILE DRIVING AND LUNGE BACKWARDS WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE. THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,981 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
2007 FORD FREESTYLE IS STALLING, AND STOPPING IN MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY, THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT SHIFTING, FROM MY UNDERSTANDING, MANY OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. RPM IS RACING. I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES I HAVE CALLED FORD MANY TIMES AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO THEM. TODAY, 1-31-2011, THE FORD FREESTYLE 2007, SHUT COMPLETELY OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF I-85. THERE COULD HAVE BEEN AN CAR CRASH IF I DIDN'T THINK QUICKLY ON WHAT TO DO. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS, FORD SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE BECAUSE OF SO MANY OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR

I GOT THIS CAR ON 04/2010 THOUGHT IT WOULD BE GOOD FOR THE KIDS NOPE I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS IN JAN /2011 THE TRANSMISSION WENT NOW 09/2012 SAME THING THE CAR SEEMED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL THEN LUNGED TRANSMISSION AGAIN THIS IS NOT A SAFE CAR !!!.. HAS BEEN IN SHOP AS OF 9/29/2012 TONIGHT THE AUTO SHOP CALLED ME AND SAID THE PART IS NOT IN STOCK MIGHT BE UP TILL 3 WEEKS BEFORE THEY GET IT, WONT PAY FOR A RENT A CAR FOR ME & TOLD ME I COULD COME GET THE CAR TILL THE PART COMES IN.... INITIALLY I THOUGHT I MUST HAVE HAD PART OF MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR. I NOW KNOW FOR SURE THAT NO PART OF MY FOOT IS ON THE ACCELERATOR WHEN THIS IS HAPPENING. WE ARE HAVING TO BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DRIVING THE CAR, BECAUSE OF THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION. IF YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR FOOT HARD ON THE BRAKE WHEN PUTTING IT INTO GEAR, AND IF THERE WAS A PERSON OR A VEHICLE IN FRONT OR BEHIND YOU, YOU WOULD HIT THEM. INITIALLY IT MAY ONLY HAPPEN ONCE OR TWICE A MONTH, BUT NOW IT IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. WHEN WE FIRST BROUGHT IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THEY HAD NO IDEA WHY THIS WAS HAPPENING. NOW THAT OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED, WE ARE JUST FINDING OUT THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER PEOPLE OUT THERE WITH THE SAME DANGEROUS PROBLEM HAPPENING. WHILE AT A SIGNAL COMPLETELY STOPPED, THE VEHICLE MOTOR REVVED AND EXCELLED ACTED FORWARD. THIS CAUSED THE ENGINE TO DIE AND ALL DASH LIGHTS CAME ON. THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON AFTER RESTARTING. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIME ALMOST CAUSING SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. WE HAVE HAD OUR TRANSMISSION REPLACED BECAUSE OF IT. THE AMOUNT OF TIMES IT HAPPENED AND TORQUE IT PRODUCED CAUSED DAMAGE IN TRANSMISSION. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL MECHANICS REFUSE TO WORK ON THIS ISSUE BECAUSE THEY SAY THIS MODEL IS KNOW TO DO THIS AND NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT. I AM OUT $7000 AND A UNRELIABLE CAR THAT IS UNSAFE TO PUT MY WIFE AND KIDS IN. FORD HAS SAID THEY WOULD LOOK AT IT AND WOULD COST ME ANOTHER $5000, AND WE'RE NOT SURE IF THEY THEMSELVES COULD FIX IT. THE DEALER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
AT FIRST OCCURRENCE, I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE. AS I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND PLACED IT ON THE BRAKE MY CAR LURCHED FORWARD UNEXPECTEDLY. THIS UNEXPECTED LURCHING HAS INCREASED IN FREQUENCY AND HAPPENS BOTH IN DRIVE AND REVERSE. THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN INCIDENTS WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK AND IT REVS, AS IF I AM PUSHING ON THE GAS PEDAL. IT WILL REV LIKE THAT AND IDLE DOWN A FEW TIMES AND THEN THE ENGINE WILL STALL. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION CAUSES PERFORMANCE ISSUES. THE TRANSMISSION JERKS, RATTLES, DOESN'T PULL, CAUSES THE ENGINE TO STOP WHILE TRAVELING OR PARKED IN TRAFFIC. CAUSES SUDDEN JERKING WHILE DRIVING, BACKING UP AND STARTING OFF. IT ALSO JERKS VIOLENTLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PUT IN DRIVE OR REVERSE EVEN BEFORE STARTING TO DRIVE. WHILE DRIVING THE TRANSMISSIONS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO BE SLOW TO CHANGE SPEED. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD CAUSE WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE JERKS SO VIOLENTLY THAT IT RISK HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE OR PEDESTRIAN. *TR

IN 2011, SPENT 7000$ ON A NEW TRANSMISSION FOR A FOUR YR OLD VEHICLE WITH 75,000 MILES!!!! RIDICULOUS. NOW, THE CAR SURGES IN BOTH DIRECTIONS AND TIMING IS OFF. FORD ISSUED A ONE TIME THROTTLE CLEANING. WHAT A JOKE! THANKS FORD! $150$ SERVICE THAT FIXES NOTHING AND 20,000 PEOPLE ONLINE THAT ARE OUT 5000-7000$ FOR TRANSMISSIONS GET WHAT? *TR
WE PURCHASED OUR FREESTYLE IN 07 AND LITERALLY ONLY DROVE IT FOR 3 YEARS. THE CAR STARTED TO LUNGE AND MAKE ALL KINDS OF NOISES WHEN WE TOOK IT IN AND THEY SAID OUR CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY BY A COUPLE MILES LITERALLY THEY WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR US JUST TOLD US IT WAS GOING TO BE ABOUT $5000 TO REPAIR. THAT IS HUGE WHEN YOUR STILL PAYING ON IT. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS SO WE ALL CAN GET A VEHICLE WE CAN DRIVE AND NOT WORRY WE ARE GOING TO LUNGE AT THE KIDS SCHOOL WHERE YOU COULD EASILY HURT CHILDREN. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT, HEATER CORE, AND WATER PUMP. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WE WERE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT AND MY HUSBAND HAD HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHEN THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD. MY HUSBAND PRESSED HARDER ON THE BRAKES SO THAT WE WOULD NOT STRIKE THE CAR IN FRONT OF US. *TR

I AM STILL DECIDING WHETHER TO SPEND THE $1000 THEY QUOTED ME FOR REPLACEMENT (A FIRESTONE SERVICE CENTER QUOTED ME $750). 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE HAD A BURNING SMELL AND STOPPED RUNNING WHILE DRIVING *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE BURNING SMELL RETURNED AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AGAIN. THE CONSUMER STATED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES. ALSO, THE MANIFOLD, GASKET AND SEALS HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY MELTED DUE TO HEAT. THREE MONTHS LATER. THE OIL LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE SERVICE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE AND HE WAS UNABLE TO SEE ANY TYPE OF LEAK. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE IGNITION COIL AND FANS, BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WOULD PROBABLY OVERHEAT. *JB
THE CAR STARTED LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID. I TOOK IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS BAD. THERE HAVE BEEN ALOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS CAR AND THERE IS NOT A RECALL AT THIS TIME. *TR
2007 FORD FREESTYLE HAS NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH NEAR THE FRONT. IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY WITH 120,000 MILES. BROUGHT IT IN TO MECHANIC THINKING IT WAS A WHEEL BEARING OR SOMETHING SIMILAR. ACCORDING TO FOUR SEPARATE REPAIR SHOPS IT IS THE TRANSMISSION. LOWEST COST TO FIX, THAT I COULD FIND, IS 4300 DOLLARS, WHICH IS MORE THAN HALF OF WHAT I STILL OWE ON IT. FOR SOMETHING TO COST THAT MUCH TO REPAIR IS A SHAME. I CAN UNDERSTAND CAR PARTS FAILING, EVEN TRANSMISSIONS, BUT NOT FOR THAT MUCH. I HAD A TRANSMISSION FAIL IN ANOTHER FORD, A COUPLE MONTHS BEFORE THIS ONE, AND IT WAS 2000 DOLLARS TO FIX. EXPENSIVE, YES, BUT NOT OVER 4000 FREAKIN DOLLARS. I COULD HAVE THE ENTIRE ENGINE REPLACED ON THIS 2007 FREESTYLE FOR CHEAPER THAN THE TRANSMISSION. FORD COULD AT LEAST OFFER SOME KIND OF BREAK ON THESE TRANSMISSIONS IF NOT A RECALL.
