RPMS INCREASE AND CAR LUNGES EVEN WITH FOOT ON BRAKE. TRANSMISSION WAS SERVICED AND I WAS TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL. PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE, NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT AS IT STALLED WHEN THE BRAKE WAS PUSHED HARDER WHEN IT LUNGED WHILE WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. HAS NEARLY CAUSED MINOR ACCIDENTS MANY TIMES WHEN IN PARKING LOTS OR TIGHT LOCATIONS. WHEN IT STALLS, THE WRENCH LIGHT FLASHES. *TR

SHE DEPRESSED THE BRAKES AND THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS. THE VEHICLE THEN ACCELERATED FORWARD BEFORE INDEPENDENTLY STOPPING. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT ALTHOUGH THE FAILURE WAS COMMON, THERE WAS NOT A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,600.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE THROTTLE CONTROL WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE HAD NOT OCCURRED SINCE THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,581. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,605.

THE FAILURE RECURRED ANYTIME THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE BUT ADVISED THAT HE WOULD REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO TOOK A COMPLAINT BUT PROVIDED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000.

I HAVE A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE THAT "SURGES" WHEN IT IS PUT INTO REVERSE OR INTO DRIVE, THIS OCCURS ON A DAILY BASIS. IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAVE 2 SMALL CHILDREN & THIS MAKES ME FEEL VERY UNSAFE. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED REPLACING. BOTH SAYING NO PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE. DID RESEARCH ONLINE AND FINDING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FOR SAME PROBLEM AND THROTTLE BODY BEING THE REASON AND FORD IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ENTERING A RESIDENTIAL GARAGE AT 2 MPH, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED AND SHE CRASHED INTO THE REAR WALL OF THE GARAGE OF THE RESIDENCE. THERE WAS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE DONE TO THE INTERIOR OF THE HOME AND THE CONTACT BARELY MISSED HITTING THE RETAINING WALL. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT A COST OF $854.00. UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHEN SITTING AT AN IDLE AND REMOVING FOOT FROM BRAKE. *TR
MY 2007 FORD FREESTYLE CROSSOVER VEHICLE CAN LUNGE UNEXPECTEDLY WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS OR IDLING. MY FREESTYLE LUNGES UP TO 10 FEET WHEN THE DRIVER'S FOOT IS NOT ON THE ACCELERATOR OR FIRMLY ON THE BRAKES. STEPPING ON THE BRAKES FIRMLY STOPS THE CAR FROM MOVING. THE PROBLEM WORSENS WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING IS ON OR THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED A LOT. IN BOTH CASES, THE ENGINE IDLE SPEED IS INCREASED TO COMPENSATE FOR ADDITIONAL LOADS TO RUN THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR OR THE POWER STEERING PUMP. WHY WOULD A DESIGN FLAW OF THIS TYPE BE ALLOWED , IT ENDANGERS ALL IN AN AROUND WHILE VEHICLE IS BEING OPERATED ON THE ROAD . ALUMINUM WHEELS SHOULD NOT BE A STANDARD PART ON VEHICLES THAT ARE DRIVEN AN BOUGHT IN NORTHERN STATES WERE THIS CONDITIONS ARE A CONSTANT AN THIS DANGER EXSISITS TO THE PUBLIC , INCIDENTS THAT HAVE OCCURRED DURING DRIVES CONSIST OF MULTIPLE BLOWOUTS , WHILE TAKING MY SPOUSE TO VA DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS COMING OUT TO FIND TWO OR MORE TIRES WITHOUT ARE REQUIRING HAVING TO PURCHASE TIRE INFLATER CARRIED TO AIR BACK UP , BUT AS TIME GOES THAT DOESN'T WORK BECAUSE OF TIRE DAMAGE ITSELF DUE TO THE LACK OF PRESSUR LOST IN TIRES WHILE DRIVING WEARS THEM OUT TO BE REPLACED AT AN EARLY WEAR TIME SPAN . WHEN THE CONTACT WOULD SHIFT GEARS INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE, THE VEHICLE WOULD UNEXPECTEDLY JUMP. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PARK, THE VEHICLE WOULD SPORADICALLY LUNGE FORWARD, EXHIBITING HIGH ENGINE RPMS. WHEN THE FAILURES WOULD OCCUR, THE AIR CONDITIONER, IF OPERATING, WOULD FAIL AND THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE. ONCE THE ENGINE RPMS WOULD RETURN TO NORMAL, THE AIR CONDITIONER WOULD INDEPENDENTLY ACTIVATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THE DEALER REPEATEDLY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OR LOCATE A FAILURE WITHIN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,850.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE LOCATED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS VIA THE INTERNET PERTAINING TO THE FAILURE OF THE THROTTLE IN HIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,955.

2007 FORD FREESTYLE WITH 66K MILES, PURCHASED AT 50K MILES. FROM BEGINNING THE CAR WOULD OFTEN LURCH HARD FORWARD OR BACKWARD WHEN PUTTING INTO GEAR. MY WIFE AND I LEARNED TO FIRMLY HOLD THE BRAKE WHEN MOVING THE CAR. THE CONDITION HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND TODAY THE "WRENCH" LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 40 MPH. AFTER SEARCHING FORD FREESTYLE FORUM, I DISCOVER THIS IS A WELL KNOWN CONDITION TO FORD AND FORD FREESTYLE CUSTOMERS. FORD HAS NOT TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY EVEN THOUGH IT'S A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. MOST CUSTOMERS REPORT A BAD THROTTLE BODY WHICH FORD COULD NOT PROVIDE (MOST OF 2009). THIS CERTAINLY QUALIFIES FOR A RECALL. WE LIKE THE VEHICLE BUT LOOKS LIKE IT'S TIME TO GET RID OF IT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH, THE CONTACT ENGAGED THE BRAKE PEDAL WHICH WAS AN UNEXPECTED SURGE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE APPROXIMATELY ONE FOOT FORWARD. THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND FUNCTION NORMALLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY; HOWEVER, THE PART WAS ON A NATIONAL MASSIVE BACK ORDER. THE CONTACT HAD TO PAY A $530 DEPOSIT IN ORDER TO HAVE THE PART ORDERED. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED ARRIVAL DATE FOR THE PART. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,760. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I HAVE A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE SEL WITH APPROX 91,000 ODOMETER READING. OVER THE PAST 3-4 MONTHS WE HAVE NOTICED THE CAR SURGING AND LURCHING FORWARD AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AND WITHOUT ANY DEPRESSION OF THE GAS PEDAL WHATSOEVER. SEVERAL TIMES WE HAVE ALMOST COLLIDED WITH VEHICLES IN FRONT OF US AT INTERSECTIONS. WE HAVE DEFINITELY LEARNED TO "COVER THE BRAKE" AT INTERSECTIONS. THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN REVERSE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, FOR INSTANCE, AND STOPPING TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE. THE CAR WILL SURGE OR LURCH BACKWARDS AND IF YOU ARE NOT COVERING THE BRAKE WHILE IN DRIVE OR REVERSE, THE CAR WILL ACCELERATE WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL. THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY NOW APPROXIMATELY 5-10 TIMES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BOB MOORE FORD IN OKLAHOMA CITY AND THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THIS PROBLEM AS A BAD THROTTLE BODY. FROM MY RESEARCH, THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE & MODEL VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM MAY VERY WELL LEAD TO A SERIOUS TRAGEDY IF THIS COMMON PROBLEM IS NOT RECALLED. THE PART FOR MY VEHICLE THAT WAS ORDERED ON AUG, 11TH IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY BUT ON BACK ORDER. BOB MOORE FORD CONTACTED ME ON 8/21/10 TO ADVISE ME THAT THEY COULD NOT GET A SHIPMENT OF THIS PART DUE TO IT BEING BACK LOGGED AND THAT THEY WERE NOT SLATED TO GET THE PART UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST. *TR

THE DEALER REPLACED THE PLASTIC AIR FILTER HOUSING AND A VALVE SENSOR BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND THERE WERE NO FURTHER REPAIRS. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 170,000.

IN MAY 2010 MY 2007 FORD FREESTYLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE INVOLUNTARILY WHEN ENTERING OR LEAVING A PARKING SPACE. AT THAT TIME THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BY BOB TURNER, THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED, BUT ONLY TEMPORARILY. APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS AGO THE PROBLEM HAS RETURNED EXACTLY AS IT WAS BEFORE. THE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE INVOLUNTARILY WHEN PARKING ABOUT 90% OF THE TIME. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF DRIVING A VEHICLE WITH THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM.

2007 FORD FREESTYLE LIMITED AWD. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEMS WITH BRAKES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED ON APRIL 24, 2008 THERE WAS A RECALL BY FORD AND THE REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED. THE FRONT BRAKES WERE REPLACED AND THE FRONT ROTORS WERE RE-SURFACED. ON APRIL 14, 2010, THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER BECAUSE A LOUD NOISE WAS EMANATING FROM THE REAR WHEELS. THE FRONT BRAKES WERE FOUND TO BE OK, BUT THE REAR ROTORS WERE FOUND TO MEASURE BELOW SPECS AND HAD TO BE REPLACED, BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T BE TURNED. THE REAR PADS ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CONSUMER STATED FOR THE BRAKES TO HAVE WORN OUT SO QUICKLY, IT SEEMED THERE MIGHT BE A DEFECT THAT FORD WAS UNWILLING TO ADDRESS. *JB

THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ON GOING INTERMITTENT PROBLEM THAT HAPPENS IN WARM WEATHER. TOOK A FRIEND TO THE HOSPITAL ON 05/25/11. DROVE TO EAST GATE FROM MY HOUSE TO PICK HER UP, STOPPED AT FAST FOOD PLACE, HAD TO WAIT FOR FOOD, NOTICED GAUGE NEEDLES ALL JUMPED UP AND THEN FELL BACK DOWN WHILE WAITING W/A/C AND ENGINE RUNNING IN PARK. PULLED OUT, WENT TO DOWNTOWN CINCINNATI, GOT INTO PARKING GARAGE, VEHICLE STARTED TO LURCH WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE. I SLAMMED BOTH FEET ON BRAKE, TO KEEP FROM HITTING ANYONE, OR ANYTHING, VEHICLE STALLED. I RESTARTED, AND KEPT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE, THE VEHICLE AGAIN TRIED TO LURCH OUT, AND THEN DIED. THIS HAPPEN 3 OR 4 TIMES IN SUCCESSION, FINALLY GOT VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL, AND PARKED IT. IT WAS PARKED ABOUT 30 MINUTES, DROVE BACK TO EASTGATE, AND THEN HOME. WRENCH AND TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AT TIME OF INCIDENT. IT WAS STILL ON WHEN I GOT HOME. IT WENT OFF AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS. ON 5/30/11, DROPPED OFF FRIEND FROM WORK, ON MY WAY HOME, TALKED IN CAR FOR AWHILE WITH ENGINE AND A/C RUNNING WHILE IN PARK. UPON DRIVING TO MAIN ROAD, VEHICLE STALLED, RESTARTED NO ACCELERATION, WHEN I HIT THE GAS, VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. PULLED OVER TO SIDE, TURNED EVERYTHING OFF, REMOVED KEY, RESTARTED AND DROVE HOME. DEALERSHIP CALLED TODAY, SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND WILL COST ME ABOUT $600.00 TO INSTALL A NEW THROTTLE BODY. WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 55 MPH I ACCELERATED TO PASS A VEHICLE, THE GAS PEDAL STUCK AFTER I TOOK MY FOOT OFF. I SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL AND BACK INTO DRIVE. THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL A SECOND TIME AND LOOKED DOWN AT THE PEDAL TO SEE THE FLOORMAT CAUGHT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE PEDAL. I KICKED IT AWAY FROM THE PEDAL AND RESUMED NORMAL DRIVING. UPON ARRIVING, I INSPECTED THE FLOORMAT, WHICH IS ORIGINAL, AND FOUND IT WAS STILL ATTACHED TO THE MAT HOOK. THE DESIGN PERMITS THE MATS TO ROTATE AND CATCH ON THE PEDALS APPARENTLY. *TR

THIS IS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION THAT EVERYONE IN THE INDUSTRY SEEMS TO BE FULLY AWARE OF AND FORD REFUSES TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT.
