2007 AWD FORD FREESTYLE. LUNGES FORWARD, REVS UP ON IT'S OWN, COMPLETELY STALLS OUT. HAVE LEARNED IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS AND THERE IS NO RECALL. WHY? THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS TO ANYONE DRIVING THIS CAR. THERE IS A FACEBOOK PAGE DEDICATED TO PEOPLE IN MY POSITION. CARS STALLING OUT ON HIGHWAY, ON RAILROAD TRACKS. MINE DIED IN AN INTERSECTION. THE PROBLEM IS MUCH WORSE WHEN HOT OUT AND AIR CONDITIONING IS ON HIGH. WHY ISN'T FORD DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS? WHO HAS OVER $1,000 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM? WHY IS OUR SAFETY NOT IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO RECALL THIS CAR? *TR
VEHICLE SURGES FORWARD WHEN RELEASING BRAKE PEDAL. ANY TIME CAR COMES TO COMPLETE STOP, UPON RELEASE OF BRAKE PEDAL, VEHICLE SURGES FORWARD INVOLUNTARILY. ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE WHEN AIR CONDITIONING IS ENGAGED AND MORE PRONOUNCED AT HIGHER BLOWER SETTINGS. DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WHILE PICKING UP KIDS AT SCHOOL. HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED SURGE WHEN A/C OFF. RECENTLY HAD A/C PROBLEM AND WHILE A/C NOT WORKING-NO SURGE, THE FIRST DAY A/C FIXED-SURGE BACK. A/C PROBLEM FIXED WITH A SCROLL COMPRESSOR RELIEF VALVE. WE FEEL THE A/C AND THE SURGE PROBLEM ARE DIRECTLY CONNECTED AND ARE VERY WEARY OF DRIVING VEHICLE EXCEPT FOR IT IS THE ONLY FAMILY VEHICLE WE OWN. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE WEATHER IS WARM AND WE MUST USE THE A/C. SEVERAL TIMES HAVE COME CLOSE TO HITTING OTHER VEHICLES OR PEDESTRIANS. THIS IS A REGULARLY OCCURRING PROBLEM THAT IS GETTING WORSE. TODAY, NUMEROUS WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON TOGETHER AND WE HAD TO STOP, TURN OFF VEHICLE AND RE-START. SOMETIMES ENGINE WILL DIE WHEN WE PUSH RAPIDLY ON BRAKE TO PREVENT SURGE. VEHICLE MUST THEN BE ALLOWED TO SIT FOR 30-60 SECONDS THEN BE RESTARTED. UNSURE SOURCE OF PROBLEM FROM A/C TO TRANSMISSION TO FUEL SYSTEM BUT ALL ARE ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED. THIS VEHICLE IS GETTING DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. *TR
AS REPORTED IN MAY 2011, MY FORD FREESTYLE IS ALSO LUNGING. IT HAPPENS TYPICALLY WHEN THE CAR IS STARTING OR STOPPING. IT HAPPENS VERY FREQUENTLY. I WAS HOPING TO SEE A RECALL ON THIS BECAUSE FORD IS CHARGING $900 TO FIX THIS. *TR
VEHICLE SURGES WHEN PUTTING INTO DRIVE WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE. ALSO, SURGES WHEN BRAKING WHEN COMING TO A STOP. HAVE NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP/MECHANIC YET.
2007 FORD FREESTYLE LUNGES FORWARD EVEN WHEN YOUR FOOT IS ON THE BRAKES. AS YOU SHIFT INTO REVERSE OR FORWARD WITH YOU FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE VEHICLE LUNGES AHEAD. TAKEN IT TO 3 DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS IN AUSTIN TEXAS AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT I NEED INJECTOR FLUSH AND GAS AND AIR FILTERS CHANGED WHICH MAY RESULT IN PROBLEM GOING AWAY. ANOTHER DEALER WANTS TO CHANGE THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY BLAMING THE PROBLEM ON ETHANOL IN THE GASOLINE. THEY ALSO WANT TO DO THE PREVIOUS SERVICES AS WELL. COSTS HAVE RANGED FROM 616.00 TO 1200.00. FOUND NUMEROUS FORUMS ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH HUNDREDS OR MORE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEMS BUT FORD IS SAYING THAT THIS IS NOT A SERIOUS PROBLEM OR THAT THEY DO NOT SEE MANY OF THESE ISSUES. THE PROBLEM OF LUNGING HAS BEEN MORE APPARENT OVER THE LAST 10,000 MILES (CAR IS AT 86000MILES) THERE DOES NOT SEEM. *TR
THE CAR TAKES OFF EVEN WHEN IN PARK. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. MY HUSBAND OR I CAN BE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT, STOP SIGN, EVEN IN PARK IN OUR DRIVEWAY AND THE CAR WILL HAVE A SURGE OF GOING FORWARD. THIS PROBLEM IS EXTREMELY BAD ESPECIALLY WHEN WE START THE CAR OR IF WE ARE IDLING WITH OUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE. IT IS VERY SCARY. I REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED WHO STATED THAT THE PROBLEM SOUNDED LIKE THERE WAS A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,881.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ON, THE VEHICLE DISPLAYED A JERKING MOTION. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE AIR CONDITIONER AND VEHICLE OFF; HOWEVER, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED BACK ON, IT BEGAN TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,500. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHILE TRYING TO PARK MY CAR, THERE IS A SUDDEN "SURGE" IN THE CAR THAT SENT IT PROPELLING FORWARD WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND AFTER RESTARTING DID IT SEVERAL MORE TIMES. THE EVENT OCCURRED WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER ON AND THE TEMPERATURE WAS IN THE LOWER 100'S. AFTER CHECKING THE CODE, IT WAS A "PO61B". THE CODE WAS CLEARED AND THE PROBLEMS REOCCURRED AFTER ABOUT 2 DAYS. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE LAST YEAR AND WITH ONLY 68000 MILES IT IS NOW UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE LAST COUPLE MONTHS MY CAR STARTED LUNGING FORWARD WHEN I WOULD PRESS ON BRAKE WITH THE CAR IN EITHER REVERSE OR DRIVE. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS MY DOING SOMEHOW BUT NOW I KNOW DIFFERENTLY. IT HAPPEN ONE TIME WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING, WE WERE GOING ON VACATION, WE HAD STOPPED AT A GAS STATION TO GET A DRINK WHEN THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STALLED AND LOST POWER AND DIE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. MY HUSBAND AND I DECIDED NOT TO TAKE THE CAR FOR WE WERE NOT SUREWHAT WAS HAPPENING AND COULD NOT AFFORD TO BE STRANDED SOMEWHERE AND BREAK DOWN. IT REALLY STARTS ACTING UP WHEN IT IS REALLY HOT OUT OR IF IT IS PARKED AND IS IDLING FOR A LITTLE IT WITH THE AC RUNNING. AFTER IT HAS IDLED FOR A LITTLE BIT YOU PUT THE CAR IN EITHER DRIVE OR REVERSE AND IT WILL LUNGE FORWARD. ONE TIME I ALMOST HIT A PERSON WALKING IN FRONT OF MY CAR AT A DRIVE-IN RESTAURANT. MY HUSBAND AND I ARE NOW TOO SCARED TO DRIVE IT. I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GREAT CAR FOR MY FAMILY BUT NOW JUST WANT OUT OF IT FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY.. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE IT TO A DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND SHE WAS WAITING FOR A RESPONSE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 47,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD ABNORMALLY ACCELERATE WHEN BRAKING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WOULD BE TURNED OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO MINUTES BEFORE IT WOULD RESTART. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT REMAIN LOCKED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO ADVISED THAT HE SHOULD BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,603.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSE THAT THE ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,286. ..UPDATED 09-21-12*BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE FIRST TIME THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED, SHE HAD JUST MADE A RIGHT TURN OUT OF A BUSINESS, AND THE VEHICLE JUST TOOK OFF TO THE RIGHT AND HIT THE CURB. THE DEALER SAID NOTHING COULD BE AS THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. AS MORE MILES WAS PUT ON THE VEHICLE, THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION WAS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR A WEEK, BUT WAS UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. UPDATED 09/25/12
THE PART WITH A SAFETY ISSUE IS THE THROTTLE BODY ON THE FORD FREESTYLE. THE CAR WILL GET A SURGE OF POWER AND LURCH FORWARD WHEN IN TRAFFIC, PARKING LOTS, AND AT STOP LIGHTS. IF THE DRIVER IS NOT ABLE TO BRAKE IN TIME, THE VEHICLE COULD HIT AND/OR INJURE A PERSON OR OTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT OF THEM. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT FORD IS AWARE OF AND HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL, DESPITE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS. AS THE SURGING POWER CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE MAY ALSO COMPLETELY LOSE POWER WHILE IN MOTION, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO HAVE NO ABILITY TO AVOID A COLLISION AS THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER VERY SUDDENLY. *TR
LAST SEPTEMBER, AT ABOUT 75,000 MILES, MY 2007 FORD FREESTYLE BEGAN AN ENGINE SURGE INTERMITTENTLY. THE SURGE HAPPENED EVEN WHEN MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AND IN BOTH DRIVE AND REVERSE. WHEN IT HAPPENED, THE WRENCH LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND, OCCASIONALLY, THE CAR WOULD SHUT OFF. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR, IT WOULD MOVE VERY SLOWLY AND THE SPEED DID NOT MATCH WHAT THE ACCELERATOR WAS TELLING IT TO DO. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC WHO COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE ISSUE, NOR COULD HE RECREATE IT IN HIS SHOP. OVER THE WINTER, THE CAR STOPPED HAVING THE ISSUE; HOWEVER, DURING THE SPRING, WHEN I BEGAN USING THE AIR CONDITIONER, THE ISSUE STARTED AGAIN. I TRIED CHANGING THE OIL AND HAD FLUIDS CHECKED, THINKING THIS WOULD HELP BUT TO NO AVAIL. THIS CONTINUED ALL SUMMER AND WAS ESPECIALLY PROBLEMATIC IF I WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC OR TRYING TO PARK. ADDITIONALLY, IT WAS VERY STRESSFUL FOR ME AS A DRIVER AND FRIGHTENING FOR MY CHILDREN. LAST TUESDAY EVENING, AFTER IT SAT DURING MY CHILDREN'S OPEN HOUSE, THE FREESTYLE BEGAN SURGING IMMEDIATELY UPON DRIVING IT. THE WRENCH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS TURNED ON AND THE CAR TURNED OFF. WHEN WE TURNED IT BACK ON, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON AND THE CAR MOVED VERY SLOWLY. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THE NEXT MORNING, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND THE AIR CONDITIONER WOULD NOT WORK. I TOOK MY FREESTYLE TO ANOTHER, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED MECHANIC, WHO HAS DIAGNOSED (BASED ON THE CODES AND HIS EXPERIENCE) THAT THE CAR NEEDS A NEW THROTTLE BODY. *TR

THE FAILURE WAS ALSO DIAGNOSED BY A DIFFERENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. 2007 FORD FREESTYLE LUNGING WHEN YOU PUT IT INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE FROM PARK. I WAS SCARED AS I TRIED TO BACK OUT OF A BUSY MALL PARKING SPACE WITH LOTS OF CARS AND PEOPLE AROUND. WHEN I PUT CAR IN REVERSE, IT LUNGED, THEN DIED AND TOOL LIGHT STAYED ON. IT DID THIS 3 TIMES AND I ALMOST HIT A PERSON IN PARKING LOT. TODAY WAS A 95 DEGREE DAY AND I HAD ON MY AIR CONDITIONING WHICH I HAVE SEEN AS A PROBLEM BY OTHERS. *TR
JUST PURCHASED A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE AND THE VEHICLE SURGES WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR IS IN GEAR AND YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. IT HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE EVERY TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN AND USUALLY MULTIPLE TIMES. *TR

LUNGING & CUTTING OFF. VEHICLE WOULD OCCASIONALLY LUNGE & REQUIRED BRAKING TO KEEP IT STATIONARY. BEGIN CUTTING OFF RECENTLY. WOULD RESTART, RUN A FEW MINUTES AND CUT OFF AGAIN. CARRIED TO FORD DEALER ON 02/09/11 AND PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A MALFUNCTIONING FUEL SYSTEM THROTTLE BODY. *TR

THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AND ONCE SHE REMOVED HER FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE LUNGED BACKWARD CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WAS AN OPEN INVESTIGATION UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE11018 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) THAT COULD POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I WAS DRIVING MY FORD 2007 FREESTYLE SEL AND I WAS EXITING A PARKING GARAGE AND WHILE I WAS SITTING TO LEAVE THE LOT WHILE HAVING MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, MY CAR LUNGED APPROX. 2 FEET ON IT'S ON. I WAS ABLE TO PREVENT OTHE VEHICLE FROM HITTING ANYONE'S CAR OR PERSON. THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPEN. *TT
WHILE PULLING IN TO PARK, WITH FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND APPLYING BRAKE TO STOP, MY VEHICLE RPMS SURGED. I HAD TO SHARPLY APPLY ADDITIONAL BRAKE, HOWEVER MY VEHICLE STRUCK A BOLLARD. TODAY'S EPISODE IS ANOTHER IN A LONG STRING OF SUDDEN RPM SURGE EVENTS DATING BACK TO WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NEWLY PURCHASED. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED BY OUR LOCAL FORD/LINCOLN DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES, WITH NO CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN. WE HAVE HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS UNSAFE CONDITION AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY ASSISTANCE FROM FORD. *TT
PCM HAS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED 4 (POSSIBLY 5) TIMES; MILEAGE ON 2007 FORD FREESTYLE SEL HAS 41,124 MILES. LAST PCM AND THROTTLE BODY REPLACED AT OVER 37,000 MILES. IST REPAIR AUGUST 2010; 2ND REPAIR OCTOBER 2010; 3RD REPAIR DECEMBEER 2010; 4TH REPAIR JUNE 2011; 5TH REPAIR AUGUST 2011. DIES WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROAD - TWICE ON I75 AT 70MPH. NO RPM'S, NO ACCELERATION, WRENCH APPEARS AND CAR WILL NOT DRIVE. FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WILL TOW VEHICLE AND LAST EMAIL STATED VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY (POWERTRAIN WARRANTY IS 5 YEARS/60,000 MILES)? EACH DEALER HAS REPLACED PARTS BUT I HAD TO PAY A DEDUCTIBLE UNDER THE EXTENDED GM MAJOR REPAIR PLAN. SHOULD NOT HAVE PAID. FORD REFUSES TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY. MY 2007 FORD FREESTYLE SEL PROBLEMS STARTED OUT WITH THE WRENCH LIGHT COMING ON OCCASIONALLY WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE REACHED 90 DEGREES.IT WOULD SURGE VIOLENTLY WHEN PUT IN REVERSE,AND HAD NO POWER AFTER THAT.TURNING THE ENGINE OFF AND RE-STARTING WOULD CLEAR THE PROBLEM.IT NOW SURGES VIOLENTLY WHEN BACKING UP,OR MANUVERING AT SLOW SPEEDS .IT RUNS FINE ON THE OPEN HI-WAY,BUT WILL STALL AT A STOP.THE ENGINE RACES WHEN SHIFTING FROM FORWARD TO REVERSE,OR INTO PARK.I HAVE READ WHERE OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME PROBLEM,AND YET FORD MOTORS CONTINUES TO IGNORE THE ISSUE.I ALSO READ WHERE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS HAVE BEEN SPENT BY OTHERS ,AND STILL HAVING PROBLEMS.I HAVE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY LOCAL DEALER FOR 8/08/11,AND DREADING THE COST TO REPAIR A PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN APPARENT FOR SOME TIME. *TT

I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT IN MY 2007 FORD FREESTYLE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WITHOUT WARNING THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD. MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE ACCELERATOR IN FACT IT WAS LIGHTLY PRESSED ON THE BRAKE AS I WAS EASING INTO THE SPOT. FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A HUMMING NOISE WITH THE RPM'S HOVERING ABOVE NORMAL. A REDUCTION IN POWER OCCURS AT LOWER SPEEDS ESPECIALLY WITH A/C ON. PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE, HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME MECHANICAL PROBLEMS IN THE SAME VEHICLE AS MY OWN. APPEARS FROM PREVIOUS REPORTS READ THAT THE ISSUE HAS TO DO WITH A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD ABNORMALLY LUNGE FORWARD WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE FAILURE WOULD BECOME WORSE WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT WAS ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES FOUND WITHIN THE VEHICLE AND OFFERED NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
OUR 2007 FORD FREESTYLE HAS BEGUN LURCHING WHEN AT A SLOW SPEED BOTH IN REVERSE AND IN DRIVE. TONIGHT IT LURCHED FORWARD WHILE I WAS PARKING AND I NEARLY HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THIS KIND OF THING HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE BACKING UP. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES RECENTLY. IT THEN DISPLAYED THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH, WHICH, ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL MEANS THERE'S A TRANSAXLE PROBLEM.
IF YOU HAVE YOUR A/C ON AND LEAVE YOUR CAR IDLING FOR JUST A FEW MINUTES THEN WHEN YOU PUT IT IN REVERSE OR DRIVE, IT SURGES A FEW FEET LIKE 4 TO 5 FT UNLESS YOU REALLY HOLD THE BRAKE DOWN. IT REALLY SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE AS TIME GOES ON. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 81,000.

IN ALL CASES THE CAR WAS INITIALLY AT A STOP WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, BUT BEFORE PLACING MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD IF IN DRIVE OR BACKWARDS IF IN REVERSE. THE CAR USUALLY LURCHED ABOUT FIVE FEET BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO STOP IT. SOMETIMES THE LURCHING WAS FOLLOWED BY THE VEHICLE STALLING AND IN THE WORST CASE THE VEHICLE STALLED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE SERVICE REQUIRED LIGHT BOTH TURNED ON AND I WAS UNABLE TO RE-START THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. I CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD AND NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS NOT ACCELERATING PROPERLY. AT THE STOP LIGHT I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED IT, THE WRENCH LIGHT WENT OFF AND THE CAR SEEMED TO BE BACK TO NORMAL. I HAVE A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE WHICH THE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM NEW HAS COMPLETED ALL THE UP KEEP ON IT AS PART OF THE DEAL OF TIRES FOR LIFE WHICH IS GOOD SINCE THE FORD EATS THE TIRES AND BRAKES BUT THIS PROBLEM STARTED WHEN I WOULD PRESSING ON THE BRAKES AND IT WOULD LUNGE FORWARD BUT IT WOULD ONLY DO IT EVERY NOW AGAIN BUT IT TOOK A WHILE BEFORE MY HUSBAND WITNESSED IT HIMSELF. THEN ONE VERY HOT DAY MY AIR CONDITION JUST STOPPED WORKING. I STOPPED AT THE GAS STATION AND LET IT IDLE WHILE INSIDE AND WHEN I CAME OUT AND PUT IT IN REVERSE IT LUNGED THEN JUST QUIT ALL TOGETHER AND A WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON THE PANEL. AFTER CALLING MY HUSBAND I TRIED TO START IT BACK UP AND IT STARTED BUT IT HAD NO POWER WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PULL OUT FROM THE GAS STATION AT A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION AT THE MALL WITH ME PUSHING THE PETAL TO THE FLOOR IT DIED AGAIN. AFTER RESTARTING IT THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS OFF BUT THE GAS MILEAGE WENT FROM 23 TO 15 WITH LITTLE TO NO POWER BUT WHEN I WOULD LET OFF THE PETAL IT WOULD LUNGE FORWARD AS IF I PUSHED ON THE GAS PETAL AND WOULD TAKE OFF AND GO FASTER. I HAD 5 CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND MY HUSBAND OUT OF TOWN. I HAD TO DRIVE IT HOME AND I THINK THAT WAS THE LONGEST TRIP EVER. I WAS SCARED OF HITTING SOMEONE OR BEING HIT WHEN IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN I WOULD PUSH ON THE GAS FROM A RED LIGHT. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY AND TODAY I GOT THE QUOTE FOR 1200.00 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WHICH IS SAID TO BE FOR A NEW THROTTLE BODY, STARK PLUGS, AND INTAKE GASKETS. WHEN THEY COMPLETED THE LAST OIL CHANGE ABOUT A MONTH AGO EVERYTHING WAS FINE SO IT SEEMED. I HAVE 5 CHILDREN AND NOW I HAVE NO VEHICLE THAT I CAN TRUST TO TAKE THEM TO THEIR PRACTICES. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS AND MAY TRADE IT IN BECAUSE AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH TODAY AND FINDING OUT THAT ALOT OF OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND GENERAL SAFETY CONCERNS AND THAT AFTER HAVING THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACE IT IS NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM LONG TERM. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE . THE TRANSMISSION HAS GONE OUT IN MY CAR. I HAVE EXPERIENCE UNCONDITIONAL "SURGING" WHILE THE CAR WAS IN GEAR. I HAVE GONE WITHOUT RUNNING THE AIR CONDITIONER, THINKING THAT WAS THE "CAUSE" OF THE CAR SURGING (TAKING OFF). THE INCREASE ACCELERATION (REVVING) OF THE SPEEDOMETER AND RPM GAUGES WERE VERY ALARMING. THE OCCURRENCES WERE MANY THROUGHOUT THE TWO YEARS OF ME DRIVING THE CAR. THE WRENCH APPEARED WHILE I WAS DRIVING, THE CAR DIED. I PULLED OVER AND STARTED THE CAR BACK UP. IT HESITATED AFTER TWO TRIES, IT FINALLY TURNED OVER. I PRECEDED TO GO TO T MY NEXT DESTINATION THREE HOURS LATER, AFTER TRANSPORTING THE ATHLETES THAT I COACH, THE CAR STOP AS WE WERE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD (ON GOING TRAFFIC) .THERE IS WHERE "EVERYTHING " WENT PIECES. THE CAR WAS NOT GETTING ANY GAS, IT WOULD NOT GO INTO DRIVE NOR REVERSE. I WAS SCARED AND DEVASTATED, THE KIDS WERE FRIGHTENED, SCREAMING OUT THAT WE WERE GOING TO DIE.
