CAR STARTED MISFIRING WHILE ACCELERATING ABOUT A MONTH AGO. SOMETIMES THE KICK WAS SO MUCH IT FELT LIKE GETTING REAR ENDED. TWICE (BOTH INCIDENTS WITHIN THE SAME WEEK) THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE. THE FIRST TIME WAS DURING ACCELERATING TO MOVE AROUND A SLOW VEHICLE TO AVOID HITTING IT AND THE SECOND TIME THE CAR WOULD MISFIRE EVERYTIME IT REACHED 65 MPH. I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN THE CAR WOULDN'T RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. FORD DIAGNOSED IT AS THE THROTTLE BODY BEING STUCK OPEN OR CLOSED. THIS SAME PROBLEM TENDS TO HAPPEN WITH THIS SAME THROTTLE BODY IN A NUMBER OF VEHICLES. *TT
AS REPORTED MULTIPLE TIMES THESE TRANSMISSIONS BEGIN TO SLIP VERY BADLY. WHILE TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC ALMOST 90% OF THE TIME HOT OR COLD AT ABOUT 40MPH WHEN YOU PRESS THE GAS THE TRANSMISSION WILL SLIP LEAVING YOU HANGING OUT TO DRY(THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS)...WHEN DOWNSHIFTING SOMETIMES AROUND 20MPH THERE WILL BE A LOUD BANGING UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE AREA...THE TSB WAS ISSUED WAY BACK IN 2007 REGARDING ALL THESE ISSUES BUT NO RECALL...THE FLOOR MATS WERE RECALLED? BUT NOT THIS ISSUE. ALL OVER THE INTERNET YOU SEE THE INSANE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE DUE TO THE AISIN TRANSMISSION THEY USED....SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED IN MULTIPLE MAKES AND MODELS OF VEHICLES WITH SAME TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS. THEY SAY REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION "VALVE BODY" OR AKA CONTROL ASSEMBLY...ITS ONLY $2,000 IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY BURNT UP THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION THEN ITS $4-5K. *TR
CUT STOPS RUNNING.. ALL DIFFERENT SPEEDS ., ANY GIVEN TIME. ALMOST HAD THREE DIFFERENT ACCIDENTS. GLAD TO BE HERE.. STILL FOUND OUT ITS VERY COMMON PROBLEM SINCE IT TOOK A WEEK TO GET THE BACK ORDERED PART. THROTTLE BODY. SEEMS TO BE A SERIOUS PROBLEM. DANGEROUS TO SAY THE LEAST. *TR
AT FIRST I FELT ON PREVIOUS DAY SLIPPAGE AT SLOW UPHILL DRIVING AND SOME STARTS. HUGE BANG LIKE THE BOTTOM WAS FALLING OUT OF THE CAR. LIKE I WAS REAR ENDED. THEN ON JULY 6TH WHILE ON FLAT, DRY 4 LANE AT 50 MPH IT FELT LIKE IT SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE REVVED UP. I TOOK FOOT OFF OF ACCELERATOR AND IT WENT BACK INTO GEAR. I HAD SOMEONE ELSE'S CHILD IN MY CAR. THIS IS DANGEROUS. I AM IN THE NC AREA TO HAVE SURGERY AND STAYING AT A FRIENDS HOUSE. I AM DISABLED TOO. I CANNOT IN ANYWAY AFFORD TO FIX THIS. I WAS A FORD EMPLOYEE WHEN I GOT THIS CAR. I LOVE FORD. ONLY HEATED SEAT AND LUMBAR PROBLEMS THAT I CAN'T FIX EITHER. I WOULD LIKE A RECALL AND HELP TO FIX THIS. PLEASE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AS THE CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PCM MODULE, COILS, SPARK PLUGS, AND THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000. *TR
WHEN I WAS PASSING A CAR ON THE HIGH WAY THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE AND LOST ALL ACCELERATION. DEAD IN THE WATER. I HAD TO PUT MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TURNING THE CARD ON AND OFF FIXED THE ISSUE. SINCE THAT IT HAS DONE THIS MULTIPLE TIMES. *TR
MY FORD FUSION V6 SEL HAS BEEN SLIPPING SINCE 50,000 MILES. I HAVE HAD 2 MINOR TRANSMISSION CHANGES WITHIN THE PAST 3 YEARS. TODAY ME AND MY KIDS WERE DRIVING ABOUT 20-35 MPH AROUND TOWN WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATING ON THE GAS PEDAL. I TRIED PLACING THE CAR INTO LOW GEAR, REVERSE WITH NOTHING HAPPENING. THIS WAS ON A BUSY INTERSECTION, THE CAR FINAL AFTER FORCING ME AND MY KIDS TO JERK FORWARD STARTED TO WORK AGAIN. EACH TIME I STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT THE CAR TOOK 1-2 MINUTES TO RISE ABOVE 20 MPH. I FINALLY MADE IT TO MY HOUSE WHICH HAS A SMALL SLANT ON THE DRIVE WAY AND THE CAR STRUGGLED JUST TO MAKE IT IN THE GARAGE. THIS WAS THE MOST EMBARRASSING DAY OF MY LIFE!!!! THE CAR CLEARLY IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND EACH TIME I LOOK UP TSB'S I SEE MORE AND MORE 2006-11 FORD FUSION POSTINGS. BEING A FORD FAN MY WHOLE LIFE I MUST SAY IF NOTHING IS DONE WITH THIS COMPLAINT I WILL NO LONGER SUPPORT FORD AND WILL ENCOURAGE OTHER NOT TO AS WELL. THE NEXT STEPS ARE TO GO TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND DO A DIAGNOSTIC. I MAY ALSO TRY A MAJOR TRANSMISSION CHANGE, MY FEAR WOULD BE TO DO A TRANSMISSION CHANGE WITH ZERO CONFIDENCE THAT THIS WILL FIX THE PROBLEM!!! FORD MUST KEEP QUALITY AND SAFETY IN MIND WITH EVERY CAR THEY SELL ESPECIALLY A 1ST GENERATION MODEL. *TR
TRAVELING DOWN BUSY LOCAL HIGHWAY ABOUT 45MPH IN LATE RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THE CAR SUDDENLY BEGAN TO RUN VERY ROUGH AND THEN ENGINE STALLED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR HAD TO BE MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH NO POWER ON VERY BUSY HIGHWAY. THERE WERE A COUPLE CLOSE CALLS BUT NO ACCIDENT THANKFULLY. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER. THE DEALER INDICATES THE POWER TRAIN CONTROLLER MODULE (PCM) UNIT FAILED. THIS SEEMS TO BE VERY COMMON FAILURE ON THESE CARS AND IT CAN BE DANGEROUS. *TR
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65MPH WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SLIP OUT OF GEAR AND THE ENGINE STARTED TO REV UP. GOT OF TO THE SIDE OF THE RODE WHEN THERE WAS A SAFE SPOT TO LET THE TRAFFIC BEHIND US GO AROUND. I HAD MY WIFE AND TWO GRAND CHILDREN IN THE CAR NOT A SAFE POSITION TO BE IN. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THE VALVE IN ASIN TRANSMISSION. CAN NOT BELIEVE THEY WILL NOT HONOR THIS PROBLEM, WHEN THEY KNOW ABOUT IT. THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. PLEASE HELP! *TR
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 5 EVENING COMMUTE, GOING UP A HILL WHEN THE ENGINE LOST POWER, REACHING A MAXIMUM SPEED OF 20MPH WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL PRESSED DOWN FULLY. THE ESC LIGHT AND A "WRENCH" LIGHT BOTH ILLUMINATED. WAS ABLE TO SAFELY EXIT THE INTERSTATE AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I RESTARTED WITH THE AFOREMENTIONED LIGHTS REMAINING OFF. VEHICLE RAN FINE. TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND WAS TOLD THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED, WHICH I REJECTED AT THE TIME. THE VEHICLE RAN FINE UNTIL 1 DAY PAST A YEAR FROM THE FIRST INCIDENT (JUNE 26, 2014). THE SAME THING HAPPENED TWICE, ONCE AT 60MPH AND AGAIN AT 40MPH. IT OCCURRED AGAIN ON JUNE 27, 2014, HOWEVER THIS TIME FROM A STOP. I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE FROM THE STOP SIGN AND BARELY MADE IT ACROSS THE INTERSECTION. EACH OCCURRENCE I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE RAN FINE. I DID A WEB SEARCH ON THE ISSUE AND FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER FORD OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING WITH MODEL YEARS 2005, 2006 AND 2007. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE RPMS INCREASED AND THE VEHICLE SQUEAKED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE PCM MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000. *TR
I WAS GOING HOME ON HIGHWAY (65 MPH) AND THE TRAFFIC STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND SO I PUT ON MY BRAKE AND LOST MY POWER. IT WAS IN LIMP MODE. FORTUNATELY, I WAS IN LOW SPEED LANE AND COULD GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF HIGHWAY AND MANAGED TO PULL OFF. AFTER 5 MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO RESTART CAR AND GET HOME. THE THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN. I FEEL I WAS VERY LUCKY I DID NOT GET SLAMMED INTO AND SOMEONE DID NOT GET HURT. *TR
DRIVING WITH 20 MONTH OLD CHILD AND 6 WEEK OLD CHILD WHEN CAR BEGAN RUNNING ROUGH AND ONE OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON. THE CAR LOST POWER, IT WOULD ROUGHLY INCREASE SPEED SLOWLY WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS THEN SUDDENLY IT WOULD SPEED UP AND SMOOTH OUT A LITTLE, BUT WAS NOT RUNNING NORMALLY. THE AIR CONDITIONING ALSO BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. SINCE THIS CONTINUED, I MADE ARRANGEMENT TO BORROW A CAR THE SAME DAY AS I FELT THIS VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE ENGINE COIL WIRING SYSTEM HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKING, THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED EXCESSIVELY AS THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A BUILDING. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000. *TR
VEHICLE LOSSES PROPULSION AT VERY INCONVENIENT TIMES ( I.E. DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT, AND PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC). I HAVE ATTEMPT TWO FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE MECHANIC SAID THAT IT WAS MY THROTTLE BODY. I EVEN CALLED FORD, AND THEY SAID "IF THE WRENCH LIGHT IS ON IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY." I JUST WANT THIS PROBLEM TO STOP HAPPING BECAUSE I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING TO FIX IT. CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS, BATTERY, THROTTLE BODY (TWICE), AND EVEN DID THE OIL. NOTHING WORKS. PLEASE HELP ME FIND OUT ABOUT THIS RECALL BECAUSE FORD IS ASKING ME FOR LARGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY WHICH I DON'T HAVE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW AND HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED.
CAR ENGINE STARTED SOUNDING ROUGH AND WHEN I STEPPED ON GAS NOTHING HAPPENED AND CAR WOULD NOT PICK UP SPEED. IT WOULD NOT GO MORE THAN 20 MILES PER HOUR. THE WRENCH LIGHT UP IN THE CAR SHOWING A PROBLEM.
THE DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE NEAR THE AIRBAG IS BULGING UP. I'M CONCERNED THIS COULD CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
MY 2006 FORD FUSION WITH A 3.0 V6 AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS HAD THE FOLLOWING SAME ISSUES OVER THE PAST 18 MONTHS: - LOSES POWER AT CITY, HIGHWAY AND PARKING LOT SPEEDS WITHOUT WARNING .... AT LEAST A HALF-OF-DOZEN TIMES - ENGINE STILL IDLES/RUNS ROUGH, BUT WILL NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND 15-20 MPH - WRENCH LIGHT INDICATOR COMES ON, (SOMETIMES ENGINE LIGHT TOO). WHEN I TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE, IT WILL OPERATE FINE MOST THE TIMES. IT HAS DONE IT REPEATEDLY A COUPLE OF TIMES. THE WRENCH LIGHT INDICATOR WILL GO OFF AFTER RESTART, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL REMAIN ON FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS THEN GO OUT. - FORD CLAIMS THAT THE 2006 FUSION IS NOT COVERED UNDER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM #13N03 WHICH COVERS NEWER FUSIONS AND OTHER FORD MODELS. FORD ADVISE TO HAVE THE REPAIR MADE AND THEY WILL REIMBURSE CUSTOMERS OF THE REPAIR EXPENSE AT A FUTURE DATE, IF FORD SHOULD EVER ISSUE A CSP PROGRAM FOR THE 2006 FUSION. - I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS AND RURAL HIGHWAYS WITHOUT SHOULDERS TO PULL OVER. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND NEEDS TO BE RECTIFIED ASAP. - I HAVE HAD SEVERAL INCIDENTS WHERE I WAS ALMOST HIT FROM BEHIND DUE TO THIS ISSUE AND IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED DUE TO THIS ISSUE. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR PEOPLE WITH CERTAIN FORD PRODUCTS. - FORD.....DUE THE RIGHT THING AND MAKE IT RIGHT FOR ALL! *TR
THE VEHICLE JERKS WHEN CHANGING GEARS OR ENTERING OVERDRIVE AT HIGHER SPEEDS, SOMETIMES VERY VIOLENTLY, OCCASIONALLY RESULTING IN COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER UNTIL CAR IS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND BACK INTO GEAR. AT LOW SPEEDS VEHICLE HAS VERY ROUGH GEAR TRANSITION WHEN BRAKING.
FRONT TURN SIGNALS OR HAZARD LIGHTS INOPERATIVE. REARS WORKING O.K. THE INTERIOR DIRECTIONAL INDICATORS ON THE DASHBOARD SHOW THAT THE TURN SIGNALS WERE WORKING AND NO BULBS MALFUNCTIONING. BOTH FRONT SIGNAL BULBS WERE REPLACED. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. THERE IS NO WAY FROM THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE TO KNOW THAT THE SIGNALS OR HAZARDS ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE FORD DEALER AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS AN INTERNAL FAULT IN THE SMART JUNCTION BOX. COST OF REPAIR WAS $617.11. RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THIS TO BE A PROBLEM IN ALL MODELS OF FORD VEHICLES RECENTLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THERE WAS ALSO A VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FIVE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
THE POWER LOCKS, AND INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES TO OPEN THE DOOR IN BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR/DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES MALFUNCTION REGARDLESS OF USE/FORCE. THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE WARPS/BENDS AND BREAKS. THE LOCKING MECHANISM ALSO MALFUNCTIONS MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INTERIOR. IN ONLY WAY TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IS TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW AND OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE. ONCE THE LOCKING MECHANISM HAS MALFUNCTIONED, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO LOCK THE VEHICLE VIA THE REMOTE ALARM OR WITH THE PHYSICAL KEY. THIS PRESENTS A MAJOR PROBLEM AS 1:IN THE EVENT THAT THE DRIVER AND OR PASSENGERS NEED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE UNLESS WINDOWS ARE ROLLED DOWN. 1B: IN THE EVENT THAT A CRASH OR WINDOWS MALFUNCTION, ALL OCCUPANTS ARE TRAPPED IN VEHICLE 2:THE VEHICLE IS WITHOUT PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT AS THE DOORS ARE UNABLE TO LOCK. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION IS BAD IN THE CAR. THE 2006 FORD FUSION WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW AND THE EXTENDED WARENTY EXPIRED, THE TRANSMISSION WENT BAD. WHAT MAKES IT SO BAD IS THAT THE CAR ONLY HAS A LITTLE OVER 46000 MILES. SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE SUBMITTED COMPLAINTS AND I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS FORD GOING TO DO TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND REIMBURSE US AT LEAST SOME OF THE MONEY THAT WE HAD TO PAY FOR THE TRANSMISSION. *TR
FRONT TURN SIGNAL HAS STOPPED WORKING. BULB IS GOOD, FUSE IS GOOD, WIRES ARE GOOD. MECHANIC SAYS IT IS SMART JUNCTION BOX. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 20 MPH INDEPENDENTLY. THE WRENCH WARNING ICON ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED, WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE THROTTLE. THE THROTTLE WAS NOT REPLACED. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, IN THE RAIN, WHEN I GOT THE DASHBOARD MESSAGE THAT MY RF TURN SIGNAL WAS OUT. DROVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND THE LF PARKING LIGHT STAYED ON. CHECKED THE BULBS AND FUSES AND ALL WERE FINE. DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND OUT ABOUT SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE SMART JUNCTION BOX. ONE SUGGESTION WAS TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO SEE IF IT RESET. TRIED THAT WITH NO SUCCESS. WE RECONNECTED THE BATTERY THE NEXT MORNING AND PARKING LIGHT CAME BACK ON. HAD TO REMOVE THE BULB SO I NOW HAD NO FRONT TURN SIGNALS. BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP, ASSUMING THE WORST AFTER MY ONLINE RESEARCH, AND GOT THE NEWS IT WAS THE SJB TO THE TUNE OF $700. I WAS TOLD IT WASN'T UNDER RECALL BECAUSE IT'S NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE AT A HIGHWAY SPEED, WHICH CAUSED THE CAR TO DOWNSHIFT, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD "SLIP" OUT OF GEAR, CAUSING THE RPM'S TO REV UP TO AN UNSAFE LEVEL. TO GET THE CAR BACK INTO GEAR, I HAD TO REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR AND LET IT COAST FOR A BIT. ONCE THE RPM'S RETURNED TO BETWEEN 1000-2000, IT SLAMMED HARD INTO GEAR AND BEGAN DRIVING AGAIN. THIS OCCURS REGULARLY EVEN AT REGULAR STREET SPEEDS, WHEN YOU NEED TO ACCELERATE WHERE A DOWNSHIFT IS NECESSARY. THIS COULD EASILY LEAD TO A CRASH. FORD MOTOR COMPANY KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS IN THESE CARS, BASICALLY IT IS DUE TO VALVE BORE WEAR IN THE MAIN CONTROL. THEY HAVE A DEFECTIVE CONTROL BODY WHICH HAS EXTREME SPOOL BORE WEAR. I HAVE A 2006 FUSION THIS PROBLEM STARTED A YEAR AGO. FIRST MY CAR SHAKES, WHEN DRIVEN 20MPH AND TRY TO ACCELERATE IT HAS A HARD TIME PICKING UP SPEED IT MISSES. CAR EQUIPPED WITH AISIN F21 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WHEN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTED THERE WAS A LOUD CLUNK AND THE CAR SLOWLY CAME TO A HALT. THE ENGINE RPM INCREASED AS I TRIED TO GET THE VEHICLE TO MOVE OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER SHUTTING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING IT WAS ABLE TO GET ME HOME. CAR NOW DOES NOT EVEN REV. REVIEWED HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 2006 FORD FUSION AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE. IT IS HORRIBLE! SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.
