ACCORDING TO MOTOR ALL DATA TECHNICIAN REPORT THERE HAS BEEN A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN POSTED FOR MY 2006 FORD FUSION REGARDING THE FRONT CV-JOINTS. IT STATES, "2006/2007 FUSION/MILAN VEHICLES BUILT ON OR BEFORE 7/16/2007 MAY EXHIBIT A MOMENTARY FRONT CV-JOINT CLICKING, GRINDING, RUBBING, OR CRACKLING NOISE WHEN FIRST ACCELERATING THE VEHICLE AFTER SITTING IN COLD AMBIENT TEMPERATURES BELOW 20 F. THE NOISE IN MOST CASES WILL ONLY LAST FOR A FEW ROTATIONS OF THE WHEELS AND THEN GO AWAY. THIS MAY BE CAUSED BY THE GREASE IN THE OUTER CV-JOINT ALLOWING METAL TO METAL CONTACT." CORRECTIVE ACTION IS "REPLACING THE AXLE SHAFTS". DUE TO THE FACT THAT A TECHNICIAN'S BULLETIN HAS BEEN MADE PUBLIC I ASSUME THAT MANY VEHICLES ARE, HAVE, AND WILL BE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. FORD SHOULD STOP THIS ON GOING ISSUE BY ANNOUNCING A RECALL. I AM SURE MANY OTHERS WILL AGREE. THIS IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE MANUFACTURER'S MISTAKE AND THEY SHOULD STEP UP, TAKE THE BLAME, AND FIX THE ISSUE. YES, NOTHING MAJOR HAPPENED IN MY CASE, BUT METAL ON METAL CONTACT WHILE A VEHICLE IS IN MOTION CAN CAUSE SERIOUS VEHICLE AND PERSONAL DAMAGE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE.
TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT,THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE FIRST TIME WE TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND A REBUILT TRANSMISSION WAS PUT IN. THEN 9000 MILES LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN. *TR
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION STICKS WHEN IN SLOW MOVING, STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY. IN SEVERAL CASES, I HAVE NEARLY BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND BECAUSE THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE IMMEDIATELY AFTER PUTTING MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL AND WHEN THE CAR FINALLY DOES ACCELERATE, THERE IS A STRONG THUMP AND IT FEELS AS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO FALL OUT OR AS IF I HAD BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND. *TR
I AM HAVING LOUD CREAKING SOUNDS COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF MY 2006 FORD FUSION SEL 2.3L. IT CREAKS WHILE JUST DRIVING AND CREAKS REALLY LOUD WHEN MAKING TURNS. *TR
2006 FORD FUSIONS DOOR HANDLES SNAPPING AND STOPPING THE DRIVER FROM BEING ABLE TO OPEN DOOR FROM INSIDE. IF THERE IS A CRASH YOU CAN'T GET OUT. THERE ARE 100'S OF OTHER EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM IF YOU RESEARCH IT ON THE INTERNET, IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM ON THE 2006 MODELS. TRANSMISSION MISHAP, JUMPED OUT OF GEAR WHILE DOING HIGHWAY SPEEDS RESULTING IN NEAR COLLISION. TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS EXTREMELY HARD CAUSING CAR TO JUMP AND HAVE ERRATIC SHIFTING. FORD AWARE OF PROBLEM, THEIR RECOMMENDATION IS A NEW TRANSMISSION RESULTING IN A $4256.00 REPAIR BILL.
PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG BULGING OUT OF THE CONSOLE AFRAID IT IS GOING TO DISCHARGE AT ANYTIME AND HURT MYSELF OR PASSENGER THIS IS DANGEROUS. ALSO FRONT DRIVER SIDE LOCK DECIDED TO BREAK AND ONLY WAY TO EXIT IS TO ROLL DOWN WINDOW ALSO HAS POTENTIAL TO BE DANGEROUS. WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL ON ALL THESE DANGEROUS ITEMS THAT SEEM TO REAPPEAR ON EVERY COMPLAINTS LISTED. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 FORD FUSION SEL WITH 40,500 MILES ON IT. HAVE TO HAVE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY REPLACED, $1800 REPAIR. I'VE SEARCHED ON LINE AND FOUND THIS TO ME A PROBLEM WITH MANY, MANY OTHER FORD FUSIONS. CONTACTED FORD OFFICE AND SAID THERE ARE NO SAFETY ISSUES WITH THE CAR. THE TRANNY "KICKED" SO HARD IT BROUGHT MY 14 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER OUT OF HER SEAT, I DO SEE THIS AS A SAFETY ISSUE. IT COULD CAUSE A ME TO WRECK, BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN ITS GOING TO HAPPEN. THE TRANSMISSION IN MY VEHICLE STARTED SLIPPING AT 60,000 MILES. IT WILL SLIP OUT OF GEAR AND SLAM VIOLENTLY BACK INTO GEAR MAKING THE VEHICLE HARD TO CONTROL. IN 2006 I BOUGHT A 2006 FORD FUSION. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS SINCE I GOT IT BLOWING BULBS IN THE TURN SIGNALS. I NOW FIND OUT THAT IT IS MY SMART JUNCTION BOX CAUSING THIS AND FORD MOTOR WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. PART OF THE SMART JUNCTION BOX IS MELTED TOGETHER. 2006 FORD FUSION V6.... MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY WITH MY TWO YEAR DAUGHTER IN THE BACK SEAT WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR AS IF IT WENT INTO NEUTRAL GOING 60MPH. SHE LET OFF THE GAS PEDDLE AND THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED . TRYING TO GET BACK UP TO SPEED SHE STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDDLE AND THE CAR JERKED VIOLENTLY AND CAUSED IT TO SLOW DOWN EVEN MORE. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET IT BACK UP TO SPEED BY SLIGHTLY PUSHING DOWN ON THE GAS PEDDLE.. AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS, HOW IS THERE NOT A FORCED RECALL!!!! THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! THE 2010 FUSION HAS A RECALL FOR UNSAFE TRANSMISSION ISSUES, WHY NOT THE 2006? *TR
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING PUMP 6 TIMES SINCE 2011 AND IT A FACTORY PART ONLY AND I REPLACE IT EVERY 5-6 MONTHS. *TR
IN VERY NORMAL, IF NOT GENTLE USE THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES ON OUR 2006 FORD FUSION ALL BROKE IN THE LATTER PART OF 2010, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR. THE CAR HAS APPROX. 68,000 MILES ON IT AND IS A KNOWN DEFECTIVE PART THAT HAS BROKEN IN THOUSANDS OF THESE CARS AS CAN BE RESEARCHED. THE ONLY WAY ONE CAN EXIT THE VEHICLE IS TO LEAVE THE CAR RUNNING AND OPEN THE WINDOW WHILE REACHING OUTSIDE TO USE THE OUTER DOOR HANDLE, THEN OPEN THE DOOR AND ROLL THE WINDOW BACK UP AND THEN SHUT OFF THE CAR. THIS PRESENTS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD WHEN THE OCCUPANTS MIGHT HAVE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE QUICKLY TO AVOID IMMINENT DANGER. AFTER PAYING CLOSE TO $6,000 FOR EXTENDED WARRANTIES, THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO OFFER REPLACEMENT OF ANY SORT, STATING THAT THERE HAD BEEN NO SAFETY RECALLS ON THIS ISSUE. I HAVE NEVER BEEN UNABLE TO EXIT A CAR NORMALLY AND THIS TRULY COULD BE A DEADLY ISSUE THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD CONSIDER THE RAMIFICATIONS OF TURNING A BLIND EYE TO. *TR
ENTERED HIGHWAY AND MERGED INTO TRAFFIC. BEGAN SPEEDING UP TO AROUND 55 MPH AND TRANSMISSION HESITATED AND JERKED, CAUSING ME TO SLOW DOWN TO AROUND 45 MPH. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL BEING PUSHED AND WAS STUCK IN 2ND OR 3RD GEAR. I COASTED TO THE NEXT EXIT WHERE I EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND DROVE TO A SAFE PLACE TO STOP. THE TRASMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD THE CAR CHECKED AT A NEARBY AUTOZONE TO SEE IF SAFE TO DRIVE. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM BUT AFTER STOPPED AND RESTARTING CAR, IT DID NOT HAPPEN AGAIN AND TRANSMISSION LIGHT WENT OUT. 63,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE...I HAD MY 3 CHILDREN, ALL UNDER 5 YRS OLD WITH ME...DEFINITELY A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *LN

NOW I KNOW IT SOUNDS HUGE, BUT 3 YEARS LATER HARD SHIFTING AND SOMETIMES REFUSING TO SHIFT FOR A CAR WITH AN MSRP OF 19800 AND 100000 MORE MILES OF EXTREMELY IRRITATING SHIFTING (CLUNKING) I AM UP A CREEK WITHOUT A PADDLE FOR A KNOWN FAULTY TRANSMISSION. SO EITHER I PAY ON THIS CAR FOR NEARLY 2 MORE YEARS FOR A YARD ORNAMENT OR PAY OUT 4000 TO FIX IT. THIS IS A KNOWN AND QUITE COMMON PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NORMAL AND NOTHING WAS WRONG... REALLY? I HAVE HAD 10 YR OLD CARS WITH 200,000 MILES THAT SHIFTED BETTER THAN THIS CAR DID AFTER 15000 MILES. RIDICULOUS....... FORD KNOWS OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAS REFUSED SERVICE AND REPLACEMENT DUE TO COST. THEY KNEW OF THIS PROBLEM 4 YEARS AGO AND STILL THOUSANDS ARE PAYING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR A FAULTY TRANSMISSION. *TR
WHEN DRIVEN IN TOWN CAR WILL STALL FOR ABOUT 10 TO 15 SECOND THEN JERK FORWARD AROUND SPEED BETWEEN 25- 40MPH WITH A SUDDEN INCREASE IN SPEED UP TO 10MPH. WHEN ENTERING HIGHWAY AND MERGED INTO TRAFFIC. I BEGAN SPEEDING UP TO 60 MPH THE TRANSMISSION HESITATEDTHE STALL FOR 10 SECONDS THEN JERKED,LIKE IT FINALLY SHIFTED BUT THEN TURN AROUND AND STALL GAIN. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL AND WAS STUCK IN 2ND OR 3RD GEAR ONE OF THEM. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THE DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM, THIS SUDDEN INCREASED IN SPEED IS VERY DANGEROUS DURING RUSH HOUR WITH TRAFFIC I NEARLY HIT THE CAR INFRONT OF ME, THE CAR STALLING IS VERY FLIGHTING WHEN ENTERING HIGHWAY. THIS CAN CAUSE A MAJOR HIGHWAY ACCIDENT. *TR

WHEN ACCELERATING, MERGING INTO TRAFFIC, THE TRANSMISSION POPS OUT OF GEAR AND THE ENGINE WILL CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE WHILE THE CAR COASTS, AND SLOWS. THE TRANSMISSION WILL EVENTUALLY ENGAGE A LOWER GEAR WHEN IT HAS SLOWED DOWN, BUT ONLY IF YOU ARE PATIENT AND IGNORE THE URGE TO ACCELERATE AS TRAFFIC BEARS DOWN ON YOU FROM BEHIND. THIS IS TERRIBLY FRIGHTENING AND DANGEROUS AS THE VEHICLES WHICH REQUIRE THE MOST ROOM TO STOP, USUALLY TRAVEL IN THE SAME LANE ONE IS MERGING ON TO. THIS OCCURS NOT ONLY ON FREEWAY ENTRANCES, BUT ON LONG UPHILLS AND ANYTIME ONE LETS OFF THE THROTTLE AND THEN TRIES TO ACCELERATE AGAIN QUICKLY. A DIAGNOSTIC FROM AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP REVEALS NOTHING. I HAVE CONTACTED ABOUT 30 OTHER SAME MODEL CAR OWNERS WHO DESCRIBE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE FORTUNATE FEW WHO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM HAVE SAID THAT THE DEFECT IS IN THE "VALVE BODY". MOST HAVE THIS PROBLEM AFTER THE 50,000 MILE MARK. MANY, LIKE MYSELF, HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR A LONG TIME. IT IS A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE ONE OF US GETS REAR ENDED AND CRASH, OR WORSE! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEYS WOULD NOT RELEASE FROM THE IGNITION UNLESS THE BUTTON ON THE GEAR SHIFT WAS PUSHED IN TO RELEASE THE KEY. THE CONTACT HAD TO REMOVE A PIECE OF PLASTIC IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE CONTACT NOTICED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
TRANSMISSION WOULD SHIFT OUT OF A GEAR, CAR WOULD REV UP TO HIGH, THEN TRANSMISSION WOULD SHIFT VIOLENTLY BACK IN JERKING THE CAR AROUND FEELING LIKE YOU HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED. THE TRANSMISSION WILL SLAM SO HARD INTO GEAR WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE( I HAVE HAD THIS EXPERIENCE ACCELERATING AT 45MPH AND AT 65MPH) ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON STAYS ON FOR A FEW DAYS GOES OFF PROBLEM COMES BACK A FEW DAYS LATER. ONLY SOLUTION WHEN THIS HAPPENS IS TO PULL OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. ONCE CAR IS TURNED BACK ON THE GEAR SHIFTER (AUTOMATIC) IS VERY TIGHT TO PUT IN REVERSE OR DRIVE. *TR
MY 2006 FORD FUSION TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING AT 34,000 MILES. DEALER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO SINCE MY CAR WAS MADE IN THE FIRST PART OF 2006, NO ADDITIONAL WARRANTIES WERE AVAILABLE. I BOUGHT THE CAR UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THAT THERE WAS A WARRANTY STILL AVAILABLE. NOW MY TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT, I STILL OWE 11,000 ON MY CAR. AFTER TALKING TO ALOT OF FUSION PEOPLE, THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY VERY COMMON PROBLEM. IT'S ALSO VERY DANGEROUS, THE CAR SLIPS OUT OF GEAR REVS UP AND THEN POPS BACK INTO GEAR JUST AS YOU ARE TRYING TO GET INTO A LANE. VERY DANGEROUS, I HAVE ALMOST WRECKED SEVERAL TIMES AND HAD TO PULL OVER. *TR
THE CAR STARTED ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO, SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR WHEN HAVING TO ACCELERATE. IT ALSO SLAMS INTO GEAR WHEN DOWN SHIFTING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, MY WIFE WAS GETTING ON THE INTERSTATE AND IT SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR AND SHE HAD TO COAST OFF OF THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE THERE WAS A TRACTOR AND TRAILER QUICKLY APPROACHING. WE ALSO CANNOT GO UP ANY BIG HILLS OR MOUNTAINS. WE HAVE HAD IT AT THE DEALERSHIP WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED AND THEY CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND UPDATED THE COMPUTER. THIS COST $500. THEY FINALLY CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION WHICH WOULD COST $4000. WE STILL OWE OVER $12,000 AND DO NOT HAVE THE $4000 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. *TR
2006 FORD FUSION FAILING TO SHIFT DURING ACCELERATION, SHIFTING SUDDENLY AND VIOLENTLY, FAILING TO DOWNSHIFT AND RUNNING EXTREMELY HIGH RPM CREATING VERY DANGEROUS CONDITIONS WHEN PASSING, MERGING AND SLOWING. DEALER FAILED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE DURING 3 SEPARATE REPAIR VISITS 2008 TO 2009. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO REPROGRAM TCM & PCM WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. PCM REPLACED IN 2009 BUT HAS NOT RESOLVED THE ISSUE. RESEARCH INDICATES THAT FORD IS AWARE OF DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY CAUSING THE ISSUE BUT HAS NOT DONE A RECALL. *TR
I OWN A 2006 FORD FUSION SE WITH THE 3.0 V6 ENGINE. AT JUST OVER 55,000 MILES, VEHICLE WOULD COME OUT OF GEAR WHILE SHIFTING BETWEEN 30-60MPH, ROUGHLY 2ND-3RD, OR 3RD-4TH GEAR. VEHICLE WOULD GO INTO A HIGH REV AND NOT MOVE. AFTER LETTING OFF GAS, YOU HAVE TO WAIT 5 SECONDS FOR IT TO "RE-ENGAGE", THEN SOMETIMES IN A HIGH GEAR AT LOW SPEEDS CAUSING VEHICLE TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS MECHANICAL FLAW WITH THIS TRANSMISSION! IT IS THE AISIN TRANSMISSION USED IN A VARIETY OF FORD, LINCOLN, AND MERCURY VEHICLES. (2005-2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED, 2006 FORD FUSION, 2006 MERCURY ZEPHYR, 2006 MERCURY MILAN, 2005-2006 MERCURY MONTEGO) THERE ARE 100'S TO 1000'S OF COMPLAINTS ON THESE AND MULTIPLE TSB (TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS) THROUGH FORD MOTOR COMPANY, ETC. (TSB 07-26-9, TSB 08-24-1) CALLING IT AISIN TRANSMISSION HARSH SHIFTING. HARSH BEING AN EASY TERM TO DESCRIBE THIS PROBLEM. AND STILL NO RECALL ON THIS OR COMPENSATION FROM DEALER OR MANUFACTURER. IF YOUR VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN WITH THIS $1,500 PLUS REPAIR ON A DEFECTIVE VALVE BODY ACCORDING TO FORD MOTOR CO. THIS IS A TREMENDOUS SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN NEEDING TO MERGE OR ACCELERATE RAPIDLY TO GET ONTO A FREEWAY SYSTEM OR OVERTAKE AND PASS ON THE HIGHWAY! I GUESS IT WILL TAKE A SERIOUS INJURY OR FATALITY TO CAUSE A LAW SUIT FOR ANYTHING TO BE DONE EXCEPT A TSB! WITH ALL THE DOCUMENTATION AND COMPLAINTS I HAVE SEEN ON THESE, I HOPE THE MANUFACTURERS HAVE A STRONG LEGAL TEAM! I WILL NEVER BUY A FORD, LINCOLN, OR MERCURY AGAIN. AND WE WONDER WHY AMERICANS BUY FOREIGN! IT IS A SAD DAY PEOPLE, BUT THE TRUTH HURTS! APPROXIMATELY 3 YEARS AFTER PURCHASE, CHROME COVERING ON INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES STARTED PEELING. IN NOVEMBER, 2010, THE REAR PASSENGER INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE SNAPPED. PIECES FELL OUT AND THE DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE. IN MARCH 2011, THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE ALSO SNAPPED. ALTHOUGH THE DOORS CAN STILL BE LOCKED BY THE REMOTE, THEY HAVE TO BE OPENED FROM THE OUT SIDE. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE IN THE EVENT THAT SOMEONE NEEDS TO EXIT THE CAR QUICKLY. WHEN DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE UNDER CRUISE CONTROL, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY DROPPED TO IDLE AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE THROTTLE. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT BEING HIT FROM BEHIND. THE CAR SHOWED TWO WARNING LIGHTS: TRACTION CONTROL AND THROTTLE CONTROL. THE CAR WOULD STILL NOT RESPOND TO THE THROTTLE. AFTER TURNING OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTING IT, THE LIGHTS WENT OUT AND THE CAR WAS DRIVABLE AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER, WHO CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY, FLUSHED THE FUEL INJECTORS AND REPROGRAMMED THE PCM. WHATEVER ACTUALLY HAPPENED, THE FAIL SAFE CONDITION SHOULD NOT BE TO SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN TO IDLE WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO CONTROL THE ENGINE SPEED. ON THE INTERSTATE AND GAVE CAR THE GAS TO GO AROUND A TRUCK AND THE CAR REVVED THE ENGINE AND THE TACHOMETER WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN. LET OFF THE GAS AND THE CAR WAS STUCK IN HIGH GEAR AND WOULD NOT SHIFT TO A LOWER GEAR. HAD TO DRIVE THE CAR THAT WAY IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC IN ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION SHOP FOR A SECOND OPINION WHERE THEY STATED THE SAME DIAGNOSIS AS MENTIONED BY THE DEALER. 2006 FORD FUSION, WITH 65000 MILES, TRANSMISSION GETTING STUCK BETWEEN SECOND AND THIRD GEAR. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS STUCK, THE CAR WILL REV TO 5-6K RPMS AND DROP SEVERELY IN SPEED. WHEN MOVING FROM A STOP POSITION THE CARE THEN TAKES ABOUT 40-60 SECONDS TO GET UP TO 25MPH (BECAUSE IT IS STILL IN SECOND OR THIRD GEAR). THIS OCCURRED WITH ME ENTERING AN ON RAMP TO A FREEWAY AND DRIVING FROM A STOP LIGHT IN A BUSY BUSINESS DISTRICT. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED AND SERVICED SINCE PURCHASE 12/31/2005. AFTER THE FIRST DAY IN THE SHOP THE DEALER TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION IS BEYOND REPAIR AND I NEED A NEW (REBUILT) FORD TRANSMISSION. THEY WANTED $80 FREIGHT FOR DELIVERY OF TRANSMISSION AND APPROX. $4500 FRO THE TRANSMISSION AND INSTALLATION. WHEN I BOUGHT OUT MY LEASE LAST YEAR I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON MY CAR (THE ORIGINAL ENDED AT 36000 MILES). IT HAS NOW BEEN FIVE DAYS WITH MANY PHONE CALLS, A RENTAL CAR (ONLY COVERED FIVE DAYS UNDER MY WARRANTY), AND A VISIT FROM A PRIVATE INSPECTOR/ADJUSTER. THE WARRANTY COMPANY IS STILL "REVIEW THE CLAIM" AND HAS NOT YET AUTHORIZED THE REPAIR. WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION FROM THE WARRANTY CO I CAN NOT BEGIN REPAIRS. I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT 65 MILES PER HOUR WHEN ALL OF SUDDEN MY CAR JUST STARTED SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR. I HAVE 70,000 MILES ON MY CAR AND IT STARTED WITH ABOUT 63,000 MILES. I WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO MERGE ON TO THE FREEWAY. MY 2006 FORD FUSION REFUSED TO RESPOND. THE REVS WENT UP TO 4000 RPM AND THE CAR JUST STAYED THERE GOING VERY SLOWLY. AFTER A FEW SECONDS, IT JERKED FORWARD, SO I PULLED BACK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND LET THE "TANTRUM" PAST. I'VE HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS SINCE-- THE MOST SCARY ONE OCCURRING IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC. PURCHASED 2006 FORD FUSION SEL 6 CYL., WITH ROUGHLY 48K ON IT AND CURRENTLY HAVE 62K ON IT NOW, IN/AROUND OCTOBER OF 2009, AND ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO STARTING HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. UPON ACCELERATING BETWEEN 25-40, THE TRANSMISSION JUMPS IN AND OUT OF GEAR, OFTEN MAKING A LOUD BANGING NOISE AND TAKING AWAY ALL ACCELERATION. IN ORDER FOR IT TO GET BACK INTO GEAR, YOU HAVE TO COMPLETELY LET OF THE GAS AND IT WILL EVENTUALLY GO BACK INTO GEAR. THIS ALLOWS FOR MINIMAL ACCELERATOR AT BEST WHEN TRYING TO SPEED UP. 2006 FORD FUSION: TWO SAFETY ISSUES 1. THE DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE NEAR THE AIR BAG IS WARPED/BULGED. THE AIR BAG INDICATOR FLASHES ON EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE. I AM CONCERNED THE AIR BAG WILL DEPLOY CAUSING HARM. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. 2. COMPLAINT: CRACKING AND POPPING IN MY FRONT SUSPENSION WHEN TURNING OR GOING OVER BUMPS.
