I RECEIVED SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 19S54 / NHTSA RECALL 10V-904 IN JANUARY 2020 TELLING ME THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM ON MY CAR. IT SAID I WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. I GOT ANOTHER NOTICE IN OCTOBER OF 2020 TELLING ME THE SAME THING, BUT HAVE STILL NOT HEARD BACK. IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR AND NO WORD FROM FORD. IF THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THEY ARE NOT TAKING IT VERY SERIOUSLY. IT CANNOT TAKE OVER A YEAR TO GET PARTS. I AM GIVING THIS CAR TO MY GRAND DAUGHTER BUT DO NOT WANT TO DO SO IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES.
I NOTICED A WARNING ON MY DASH THE BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS). I THEN SEARCHED FOR ANY RECALLS REGARDING THE AREA, WHICH LED ME TO THE NHTSA WEBSITE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION UPON NOTICING THE TROUBLE.
I'VE HAD CONSTANT BRAKE ISSUES SINCE I GOT THE VEHICLE. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THE RECENT FORD BRAKE RECALL IS MORE WIDESPREAD THAN IS CURRENTLY BELIEVED AS I HAVE THE EXACT ISSUES DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL BUT MY VEHICLE IS SUPPOSEDLY NOT AFFECTED. I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHER FORD OWNERS WHO MIGHT BE AFFECTED BY THIS SIGNIFICANT BRAKE ISSUE.

A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. FORD HAS FAILED TO PROVIDE A TIMELY REPAIR FOR MY VEHICLE ON A POSTED RECALL. THEY HAVE TAKEN OVER A YEAR AND STILL CLAIM THEY DO NOT HAVE A REMEDY FOR THIS RECALL. IT IS NHTSA RECALL #19V904. MY BRAKES NEED TO BE PUSHED NEARLY ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR IN ORDER TO STOP. THIS OCCURS ANY TIME I BRAKE.
MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER19S54 NHTSA RECALL NUMBER19V904 THAT WAS INITIATED ON DECEMBER 18TH 2019 HAS STILL NOT BEEN RECTIFIED BY FORD. I HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED TO HAVE MY VEHICLE REPAIRED.
SEVERAL (ALL WHEEL DRIVE )AWD FORD VEHICLES EX. FUSION, EDGE, TAURUS USE A (POWER TRANSFER UNIT) PTU THAT FMOC CALL FOR NO SERVICE NEEDED, NO DRAIN PLUG ONLY A FILL PORT. THE PTU IS A BASICALLY A TRANSFER CASE THAT SMALL FORD FORD AWD VEHICLES USE TO TRANSFER ENGINE POWER FROM THE TRANSMISSION TO THE REAR WHEELS. THE PART IS CONNECTED TO THE TRANSMISSION SURROUNDED BY THE ENGINE, EXHAUST AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER, THE PTU ONLY HOLD A QUART OF LUBRICATING FLUID NO COOLING NO SERVICE INTERVAL AND ALL OF THE HEAT SURROUNDING THE UNIT BAKES THE LUBRICATION CAUSING LACK OF LUBRICATION CAUSING PTU AND TRANSMISSION FAILURE. REPAIR QUOTE FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP ON 1/29/2020 WITH A FORD REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION AND LABOR IS $5000.00 REPAIR. THIS UNIT FAILURE IS IN A 2007 FUSION WITH 92K MILES OTHER THAN THE POWERTRAIN ISSUE IS A SOLID VEHICLE THAT PERFORM GREAT UNTIL THE PTU AND TRANSMISSION FAILURE WITH NO WARNING. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE VEHICLE WHEELS LOCKED UP SKIDDING THE CAR TO A STOP AND STALLING THE ENGINE. NOW IT CRACKS AND POPS AND LOCKS UP THE WHEELS.
I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON 11-30-19 DUE TO MY BRAKES NOT ALLOWING ME TO STOP IN TIME AND HITTING A CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE CAR WAS STOPPED IN THE ROAD, WAITING TO TURN, AND I TRIED TO STOP BUT I COULDN'T IN TIME. IT CAUSED ENOUGH COSMETIC (ONLY) DAMAGE TO MY CAR THAT MY INSURANCE COMPANY IS FILING IT AS A TOTAL LOSS DUE TO THE COST OF REPAIRS COMPARED TO THE VALUE OF MY CAR. I WILL PROBABLY BE FORCED TO KEEP IT THOUGH SINCE I CAN'T AFFORD A NEW CAR, SINCE I'M ON A FIXED INCOME. MY DAUGHTER IS HELPING ME TO UNDERSTAND WHAT WE HAVE TO GO THROUGH TO KEEP IT, TO GET A SALVAGE TITLE AND THEN APPLY FOR A REBUILT TITLE. I JUST WANTED TO REPORT THIS IN CASE MY CAR WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE FORD BRAKE RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FUSION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V024000 (AIR BAGS) AT PARKWAY FORD OF LEXINGTON (98 US-64, LEXINGTON, NC 27295). AFTER RETRIEVING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG WAS NOT SECURED INSIDE THE AIR BAG HOUSING. THE CONTACT INFORMED THE DEALER OF HER CONCERNS AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OKAY TO OPERATE AS-IS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS, THE DASHBOARD STARTED TO RAISE AND SHE COULD SEE A LARGE BUMP. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PARKWAY FORD OF LEXINGTON (98 US-64, LEXINGTON, NC 27295) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
IN DECEMBER OF 2018 THE VEHICLE HIT A ROUGH SURFACE OF ROAD AS I WAS STOPPING NEAR AN INTERSECTION. THE BRAKE PEDAL IMMEDIATELY WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I WENT INTO THE INTERSECTION. THANKFULLY THERE WERE NO CARS PASSING THROUGH. JUST AFTER THE INCIDENT THE BRAKES FIRMED UP AND WORKED AS NORMAL. CAR WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND NO ISSUES WERE FOUND. I ASKED ABOUT TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS AND WAS TOLD THERE WERE NONE. DEALERSHIP THOUGHT THE ISSUE WAS A BRIEF LOSS OF VACUUM IN THE BOOSTER. TOLD TO KEEP DRIVING THE VEHICLE, AND IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN THEY WILL REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER. NOW ON 10/9/19 IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. VEHICLE WENT OVER A BUMP AND THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR. LOOKING ONLINE, I QUICKLY FOUND A YOUTUBE VIDEO BACK IN 2014 WITH A FULL EXPLANATION ON HOW THE HCU IS MALFUNCTIONING ON SOME OF THESE CARS. AFTER THE ABS EVENT IS OVER, THE ABS VALVE IS STICKING AND NOT RECLOSING RESULTING IN THE SOFT PEDAL. YET NOT LONG AFTER, THE PEDAL FIRMS UP AND THE BRAKES WORK AS NORMAL. IT LOOKS LIKE THERE ARE QUITE A FEW PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THIS. PLEASE LOOK INTO AT LEAST HAVING A TSB PUT OUT. I WOULD HAVE REPLACED IT LAST DECEMBER IF I HAD KNOWN, AS THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THIS TIME AND I'M JUST THANKFUL SHE WAS IN A SITUATION WHERE SHE HAD ENOUGH ROOM TO STOP. PLEASE, PLEASE ISSUE THE TSB NOW. THE CAR SHOULD BE RECALLED AS IT'S UNSAFE, BUT AT LEAST A TSB GIVES THE OWNER/DEALER THE INFORMATION NEEDED TO GET THE CAR FIXED. HAVE RECORD OF VISIT TO DEALERSHIP IN 2018 IF NEEDED. IT SHOWS THAT THEY WERE CONCERNED ABOUT THE HOSES TO THE BOOSTER. NOTHING ABOUT THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH IN DRY CONDITIONS, THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ABS ONLY WORKED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN IN DRY CONDITIONS AND NOT WHEN THE PAVEMENT WAS WET. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN THE ABS WARNING INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED, THE ABS WORKED. WHEN THE INDICATOR WAS OFF, IT DID NOT WORK. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE REAR BRAKE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000. *DT*JB
BRAKE PEDAL GOES HALFWAY TO FLOOR AFTER STARTING ENGINE. BOTH THE BRAKE PEDAL AND GAS PEDAL BECOME EQUAL IN DISTANCE FROM THE FLOOR OF THE CAR MAKING IT VERY EASY TO BE HITTING THE GAS AND BRAKES AT THE SAME TIME.

DAVIDSON FORD OF CLAY (3690 NY-31, LIVERPOOL, NY 13090) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V001000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL REMEDY WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. PEACOCK FORD (1875 S ORLANDO AVE, MAITLAND, FL 32751, (407) 644-7111) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND WERE ON BACKORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING OPERATED, THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS UNINTENTIONALLY DEPLOYED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE SEAT BELT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS NOT OPERABLE AFTER THE CRASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A CRASH REPORT NUMBER. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED CHEMICAL BURNS ON THE RIGHT HAND AND LEFT FOREARM. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PEACOCK FORD, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY HAD NO RECORD OF THE CONTACT REACHING OUT TO THEM. I OWN A 2007 FORD FUSION WITH 122,000 MILES. ABOUT A MONTH AGO I HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE HAPPENED DURING A 'PANIC' STOP WHEN I WAS CUT OFF IN TRAFFIC. THE ABS ACTIVATED, THEN THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELING MUCH FURTHER DOWN THAN NORMAL. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE BRANDON FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN FLORIDA. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY HYDRAULIC BRAKE CONTROLLER, WHICH IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE THROUGH FORD AS THE PART HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED. THERE ARE ALSO NO AFTERMARKET COMPANIES THAT MANUFACTURER THIS PART. THEY TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO FIND A REPLACEMENT FROM A SALVAGE YARD, EBAY OR SIMILAR PLACE. NOT LONG AFTER THIS SERVICE VISIT, THE BRAKE PEDAL MIRACULOUSLY RETURNED TO NORMAL PRESSURE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NEARLY 300-TROUBLE FREE MILES BEFORE IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME IT WAS RAINING AND AS I WAS SLOWING AGAIN, I MUST HAVE HIT A BUMP OR SLIPPERY SURFACE CAUSING THE ABS TO KICK IN AGAIN. THIS IMMEDIATELY CAUSED THE PEDAL TO GO TO THE FLOOR AGAIN. AS OF LAST NIGHT, THE PEDAL PRESSURE IS STILL LOW AND IT HAS NOT RETURNED TO NORMAL. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT HAVE A SOLUTION. I CANT BELIEVE THAT FORD HAS NOT COME UP WITH A 'FIX', OR A RE-ENGINEERED REPLACEMENT PART. CAN YOU IMAGINE SOMETHING AS IMPORTANT AS THE BRAKING SYSTEM BEING COMPROMISED WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO REPAIR IT. I REALLY HOPE FORD STANDS BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES, DOES RIGHT BY THEIR CUSTOMERS AND COMES UP WITH A SOLUTION.
TAKATA RECALL I SPENT A TOTAL OF 1.5 HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH FORD DEALERSHIPS IN MY AREA. NONE OF THE FIVE CONTACTED HAD THE PART TO REPAIR. THE EARLIEST ONE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID WAS '5-7 DAYS, BUT CALL US IF YOU DON'T HEAR FROM US AFTER 7 DAYS...YOU KNOW, TO MAKE SURE WE ORDERED THE PART'...EXCUSE ME WHAT? I CALLED ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND THE GUY SAID TWO WEEKS BEFORE THEY WOULD EVEN GET THE PART, AND WHEN I SAID 'THAT'S TOO LONG', THE LOSER REPLIED 'OK CYA!' NOT ONLY AM I ANGERED BY THIS RECALL, TIME WASTED TODAY, THE LACK OF PARTS AVAILABLE (AND YES I UNDERSTAND THERE ARE 'PRIORITY GROUPS', I'VE DONE MY RESEARCH)...BUT WHEN I EXHAUSTED ALL OPTIONS AND GAVE IN TO CALLING 833-221-3566, THE WOMAN ON THE OTHER END WAS DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND AND TRANSFERRED ME TO A DEALERSHIP FORTY FIVE MILES AWAY. COME ON. A SHOT IN THE DARK OF '5-7 DAYS'...AFTER THE TIME I'VE ALREADY WAITED (AND WAITED, AND WAITED!) IS NOT A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. IF THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION IS 'A-OKAY' WITH ME TRAVELING ANOTHER MILE IN AN AUTOMOBILE WITH DEFECTED PARTS THAT COULD KILL A DRIVER (ME) OR PASSENGER (COUSIN, FATHER, FRIEND, DAUGHTER)...THAT'S DISGUSTING. I, ALONG WITH EVERYONE ELSE AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL, SHOULD RECEIVE A SAFE, LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL THE PART IS AVAILABLE AND REPLACED. THE WAIT ISN'T THE ISSUE. IT'S THE FACT WE ARE RISKING OUR LIVES (AND THE LIVES OF OTHERS) WITH THE DAMAGED GOODS WE WERE SOLD. FEEL FREE TO USE THIS, SHARE IT WITH FORD AND THEIR ABSURD EXCUSE FOR 'CUSTOMER SERVICE', PRINT IT OUT, OR THROW IT AWAY. I HAD TO SHARE MY COMPLAINT WITH SOMEONE WHO CAN ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. THANK YOU.
WHEN DRIVING SLOWLY (15-25 MPH) OVER A ROUGH STRETCH OF RAILROAD TRACKS IN THE CITY, I APPLIED MY BRAKES ONLY FOR THE PEDAL TO HIT THE FLOOR TO HEAR A GRINDING SOUND WHEN I HIT THE BUMP. I HAD NO ABILITY TO STOP MY CAR FOR 10-20 FEET UNTIL I PUMPED THE BRAKE PEDAL ENOUGH TO REGAIN PRESSURE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST 4 MONTHS AND FOUR TIMES IN THE LAST 3 YEARS. THE PEDAL EVENTUALLY REGAINS PRESSURE, BUT NEVER HOLDS FIRM WHEN BRAKING OVER A BUMP. THIS HAS ALSO OCCURRED WHILE TURNING AND APPLYING THE BRAKE SIMULTANEOUSLY.
DRIVING IN A RESIDENTIAL HILLY AREA, I DROVE OVER A SMALL BUMP HEADING TOWARDS A RED LIGHT. MY BREAKS IMMEDIATELY WENT SOFT AND TOOK EXCESSIVE FORCE TO GET THE CAR TO STOP WITH THE BREAK PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. WE WENT ABOUT 15 FEET BEFORE WE WERE ABLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. BREAKS ARE NOW SOFT AND UNABLE TO DRIVE WITHOUT EXCESSIVE FORCE ON THE BREAKS. *TR*JB
PCM BOARD IS BAD. THE CAR HAS 106,000 MILES.
My boyfriends mom was up north driving and the latch on the driverside door stopped working. She's 60+ and still years later has to tie her door close and climb over the passenger seat to get in the car. I can get it closed if it's accidentally opened just like an inch but the door absolutely cannot to opened any further.
MY ISSUE IS WHAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY COMPLAINED ABOUT - THE SHIFTING IS EXTREMELY ROUGH, TO THE POINT IT'S NOW UNDRIVABLE AND UNSAFE. THE 'WRENCH' LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAVE JUST COME ON, ALTHOUGH THE SLIPPING OF GEARS HAS GONE ON FOR QUITE A WHILE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE. MOST PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD TO SPEND $3-4K TO GET THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT.
MY CAR JUST ROLLED OFF MY DRIVEWAY LAST NIGHT AND TOOK DOWN MY NEIGHBORS FENCE. I'M JUST GLAD IT DIDN'T HIT THE HOUSE AND ANYONE GOT HURT. MY CAR WAS LOCKED AND EBREAK WAS ENGAGED.
TWO INCIDENTS WHILE TRYING TO STOP ON A WET ROAD. ONE INVOLVED HITTING A DEER AT ABOUT 50 MPH. ONE INVOLVED HITTING A TREE ABOUT 45 MPH. TRIED TO STOP BUT THE BRAKE PELAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR WITH NO RESISTANCE AND ZERO BRAKING. THESE BRAKES ARE FAULTY. IF THE BRAKES WERE WORKING CORRECTLY NEITHER INCIDENT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. THESE CARS ARE POTENTIAL DEATH TRAPS. THERE WAS NO POLICE REPORTS MADE BECAUSE THEY WERE NO REQUIRED. BUT NOW THE INSURANCE CO. MIGHT BE TOTALLING THE CAR...SO WE ARE OUT THE VALUE OF THIS BECAUSE OF A BAD DESIGN BY FORD. WHY SHOULD WE BE OUT THIS ? PERHAPS ITS A BLESSING IN DISGUISE. MY AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. HAVE TRIED TO HAVE IT FIXED A FEW YEARS AGO, BUT IS STILL ON. HAD THE AIR BAG REPLACED AND IT'S STILL ON.
I WAS DRIVING AT 25MPH AND THE CAR STARTED REVVING ON ITS OWN. I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES. THIS HAPPENED TWICE SO FAR. CITY STREET. STRAIGHT. BOTH TIMES.

'TAKATA RECALL' I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH BOTH MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND FORD CORPORATE SEVERAL TIMES SINCE I RECEIVED NOTICE OF THE PARTS BEING AVAILABLE FOR RECALL 19V-001 AND 16V-384 BUT THEY HAVE MOT FIXED MY VEHICLE. I FIRST CONTACTED FORD IN OCTOBER 2018. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND IF THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO FIX MY CAR I WOULD LIKE COMPENSATED FOR ITS VALUE

I TOOK MY 2007 FORD FUSION TO THE HALDEMAN FORD DEALERSHIP IN ALLENTOWN, PA IN RESPONSE TO NHTSA RECALL 19V-001. WHEN THE RECALL REPAIR WAS COMPLETED, I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER (VICTORT) THAT ALTHOUGH A NEW AIR BAG INFLATOR WAS INSTALLED, THE AIR BAG STILL WOULD NOT INFLATE BECAUSE THE WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD WOULD NOT GO OUT. I WAS TOLD THAT AS LONG AS THE WARNING LIGHT WAS ON THE AIR BAG WOULD NOT INFLATE. I WAS TOLD I WOULD NEED TO SPEND OVER $1200 TO REPAIR A ROD UNDERNEATH THE SEAT THAT CONTROLLED THIS FUNCTION. WITHOUT THE REPAIR OF THIS ROD, THE AIR BAG WOULD NOT INFLATE IN AN ACCIDENT, LEAVING ME WITHOUT AIRBAG PROTECTION. SINCE THIS REPAIR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, THE REPAIR WOULD ONLY BE COMPLETED IF I PAID THEM THE OVER $1200 REPAIR COST. I WAS CHARGED $110 FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC THEY PERFORMED TO CONFIRM THAT THIS, IN FACT, WAS THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING FURTHER COULD BE DONE AT THE DEALER- SHIP TO RESOLVE THE FACT THAT THE AIRBAG WOULD NOT BE MADE FUNCTIONAL UNLESS I PAID THEM OVER $1200. I ASKED FOR A TELEPHONE NUMBER TO REPORT THIS TO FORD. I CALLED FORD ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THE HALDEMAN DEALERSHIP HAD THE RIGHT TO CHARGE ME $110 FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC SINCE THEY NEED TO DEFINITELY DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE ACTIVATION OF THE WARNING LIGHT. I PRESUME THAT SINCE THEY CHARGED ME TO DO THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST THEY WILL STAND BEHIND THE RESULTS OF THAT DIAGNOSTIC TEST. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY THE FORD REPRESENTATIVE THAT THE PROBLEM THAT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM WAS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL, SO THAT IF I WANTED THE AIR BAG TO INFLATE I WOULD NEED TO PAY THE $1200 REPAIR FEE. I TOLD HIM THE TECHNICALITY OF WHAT THE RECALL INCLUDED WOULDN'T MATTER IF SOMEONE WERE KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT. HE KEPT REPEATING THE COMPANY LINE THAT THE $1200 REPAIR WAS A SEPARATE ISSUE THAT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. HE THEN HUNG UP ON ME. PLEASE HELP!

THIS IS A CONTINUATION OF COMPLAINT 11171753 WHERE I REPORTED ISSUES WITH FORD FUSION ABS BRAKE SYSTEM. TURNS OUT THE OFFICE OF DEFECTS INVESTIGATION HAVE HAD A PE GOING FOR SEVERAL YEARS ON THIS ISSUE. PE16-017. RECENTLY, AN OPEN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED. EA18002. THIS ACTION INCREASED THE MODEL YEARS AND MODELS EFFECTED. MY LOCAL FORD DEALER INSPECTED MY CAR AND DETERMINED THE HYDRAULIC MODULATOR IS IN FACT DEFECTIVE. HE ALSO INFORMED ME HE CANNOT FIX IT BECAUSE FORD HAS DISCONTINUED THE PART. FORD HAS DISCONTINUED THE AWD VERSION OF THE MODULATOR. THE FWD VERSION IS STILL AVAILABLE. WHAT THIS MEANS IS I NOW HAVE AN UNSAFE CAR THAT CANNOT BE REPAIRED.*DT *TR
I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANY BRAKE ISSUES. YESTERDAY DRIVING ON COMPACT SNOW AND ICE AT ABOUT 25 MPH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ENGAGED WHILE SLOWING TO START A TURN. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR BEFORE THE ABS ENGAGED A SECOND TIME. AT THIS POINT I WAS ALREADY PASSED THE INTERSECTION. SINCE THIS HAPPENED THE BRAKE PEDAL IS VERY SPONGY AND WILL TRAVEL ALMOST TO THE FLOOR BEFORE ANY BRAKING OCCURS. A QUICK SEARCH OF THE INTERNET SHOWS THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. INFORMATION IS NOT CLEAR WHAT THE ISSUE IS. SOME REPORT THE MASTER CYLINDER OTHERS STATE THE ABS CONTROL UNIT IS TO BLAME. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS OF SEVERAL SERVICE CALLS REQUIRED AND MANY $$$ TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM.

ALSO, THE BATTERY INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE COASTED OFF THE ROAD AND TOWED TO A REPAIR FACILITY. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE IDLER PULLEY FOUR TIMES AND THE TENSION PULLEY ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE BOLT FRAYED AT THE END SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE SAME OEM PARTS WERE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL REMEDY TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THE PULLEY WELL WAS NOT FUNCTIONING CONCERNING THE BELT AND THE VEHICLE REMAINED PARKED AT THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
BRAKE PEDAL GOES SOFT WITH LONG TRAVEL WITHOUT WARNING. VERY INTERMITTENT BUT VERY SCARY WHEN IT HAPPENS BECAUSE YOU AREN'T EXPECTING IT. NO WARNING. SOMETIME WEEKS OR A MONTH BETWEEN EVENTS. FORUMS SEEM TO PINPOINT ABS SYSTEM. TODAY, MY WIFE CAME CLOSE TO RUNNING DOWN CHILDREN IN A CROSSWALK. REFUSES TO DRIVE THE CAR ANY MORE WHICH REQUIRES ME TAKING HER TO WORK ETC. NOT GOOD SITUATION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TAKATA RECALL. THE PASSENGER AIR BACK WAS FIXED BY DEALERSHIP AND NOW THE COVER STARTING LIFTING UP WITHOUT NOT REASON. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID ISN'T THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX IT, WHICH I DON'T THINK IT'S RIGHT BECAUSE THIS SITUATION HAPPENED AFTER IT WAS REPAIR.

ABS BRAKE ACTIVATION CAUSES BRAKES TO BE MUSHY AND NON-RESPONSIVE AFTER BRAKING EVENT, THIS ISSUE ALMOST RESULTED IN A NEAR ACCIDENT, PEDAL CONTINUES TO BE SOFT.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
DRIVING DOWN A HILL AND THE BRAKE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND ALMOST COULDN'T STOP, HAD EVERYTHING CHECKED WITH THE BRAKES AND FLUID AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE WITH BRAKE FLUID LEVEL, BRAKE PADS BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN REMEDIED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE AN ABS MODULE AND THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER AND HAVE THEM FIX THIS ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL WOULD COST AROUND 2,500.00. MY CAR ONLY HAS AROUND 50,000 MILES ON IT AND I AM THE ONLY OWNER WHO IS 72 YEARS OLD. PROBLEMS NEED TO BE TAKEN CARE OF QUICKER WITH RECALLS ALSO BECAUSE I'M STILL WAITING FOR MY AIRBAG RECALL AND THAT HAS BEEN FOR A YEAR NOW AND WHEN I CALL OR TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALER FOR THEM TO FIX THE RECALL AND GET A RENTAL CAR WHICH I ALSO GOT A NOTICE THAT I WAS ELIGIBLE TO GET, THE DEALER WILL NOT GIVE ME A LOANER CAR NOR DO THEY EVEN KNOW OF WHEN THE TAKATA AIRBAGS WILL BE REPLACED. HOPEFULLY NO ONE GETS KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS 'RECALL'. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HOLDUP IS BUT, I DON'T APPRECIATE GETTING A RECALL NOTICE AND WASTING MY TIME TAKING MY CAR IN FOR IT AND THEN BEING TOLD THEY DON'T HAVE THE PART. FOR IT. DRIVING TO PHOENIX FROM TUCSON ON I-10 AT APPROXIMATELY 65MPH, TRAFFIC AHEAD CAME TO A STOP. THERE WAS A LOT OF DISTANCE BETWEEN THE CAR AHEAD AND OURSELVES, BUT WHEN WE HIT THE BRAKES ABRUPTLY, THE BRAKES APPLIED THEN FAILED WITH PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR. RELEASED THE PEDAL AND REAPPLIED AGAIN AND THE BRAKES AGAIN STARTED TO SLOW THE CAR THEN AGAIN FAILED AND RELEASED. WE HAD NO PATH TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO AVOID IMPACT BECAUSE OTHER VEHICLES HAD PULLED TO THE SIDE, OR WERE IN THE OTHER LANE. WE IMPACTED THE VEHICLE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC AHEAD OF US WITH MINIMAL BRAKES. THE AZ DPS AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY WERE INFORMED OF THE FAILURE OF BRAKES, BUT A TICKET WAS STILL ISSUED. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THE VEHICLE BRAKES OR COMPUTER HAS YET TO BE CHECKED AS THE FUSION WAS CONSIDERED A TOTAL LOSS; THIS VEHICLE HAD ONLY 65,000 MILES ON IT, AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THERE WERE THREE OF US IN THE FUSION AND THE AIRBAGS WORKED FLAWLESSLY, WE ALL WALKED AWAY. ALL OCCUPANTS OF THE OTHER VEHICLES WERE WELL AND WALKING AROUND FOR TWO HOURS UNTIL ONE WAS TALKED INTO AN AMBULANCE RIDE BY A PARAMEDIC TECH.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A DRY, PAVED ROAD, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ACTIVATED WHILE PASSING AND THE VEHICLE'S RPMS FLUCTUATED BETWEEN 500 AND 2000 WITH BARELY ANY ENGINE POWER. VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF, TURNED BACK ON AGAIN, AND APPEARED TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC AND THROUGH TESTING THEY IDENTIFIED THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE HAD MELTED SEVERAL ENGINE COILS AND SPARK PLUGS. BEFORE REPLACING THE MODULE, ALL NEW SPARK PLUGS AND ENGINE COILS WERE ADDED AND THE CAR WAS STARTED UP. IT EXHIBITED THE SAME BEHAVIOR BEFORE THE COILS AND PLUGS WERE REPLACED, AND FOR THE BRIEF TIME IT WAS ACTUALLY ON, IT MELTED ANOTHER NEW COIL. TSB FOR THE 07 FUSION WAS CONFIRMED AND THE PCM WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH ALL NEW COILS. PCM WAS TAKEN TO THE FORD DEALER FOR REPROGRAMMING. REPLACEMENT AND REPROGRAMMING OF PCM AND ALL 6 COILS AND SPARK PLUGS FIXED THE ISSUE. VEHICLE HAS 84K MILES ON IT AND SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS SAFETY ISSUE.

TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT MY AIRBAGS WERE AVAILABLE AND TO CONTACT MY DEALER. UNFORTUNATELY, I AM A MILITARY MEMBERS AND AM STATIONED OVERSEAS. I CALLED FORD DIRECT IN THE STATES AND THE DEALER I BOUGHT MY CAR FROM AS WELL. FORD DIRECT TO LED ME TO CALL FORD DIRECT IN SPAIN AND THEY COULD NOT HELP ME WITH MY CAR. FORD DIRECT SPAIN SAID THE CAMPAIGN IS NOT GOING ON IN EUROPE AND THEY WOULD CONTACT ME IF IT STARTED. I ALSO CALLED A FORD REP IN GERMANY THAT THE LOCAL DEALER TO ME TO CALL AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT GET ME THE PART. THE FIX IS TO NOT SIT ANYONE IN THE FRONT SEAT OF THE CAR. ALL I WANT IS TO WORK WITH A DEALER IN THE STATES TO SHIP (BY BOAT IF NEED BE) THE PART TO TH DEALER HERE. THEY SAID THEY WOULD BE HAPPY TO FIX IT ONCE IT WAS HERE. FORD DOES NOT SEEM TO CARE TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME WITH MAKING MY CAR SAFE TO DRIVE OTHER THAN GIVING ME A PHONE NUMBER OF THE COMPANY HERE. IS THERE ANY WAY TO HELP SUPPORT MILITARY MEMBERS AFFECTED BY THE RECALL WHO ARE STATIONED OVERSEAS OR AM I TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE FOR 3 TO 4 MORE YEARS TILL I GET TO THE STATES?
