THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED, THE BRAKES WENT SOFT AND FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE BRAKE FLUID WAS REPLACED. THE ISSUE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
DRIVING AT ABOUT 35 MPH GOING STRAIGHT, I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES SO THAT I COULD TURN, SNOW/ICE COVERED ROADS, ABS ENGAGED. I CONTINUED ON DRIVING AFTER THAT AT ABOUT 45 MPH, WENT TO STOP TO TURN INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO BRAKE ACTION AT ALL. NO FLUID LEAKS,NO WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH, PADS HAD MAYBE 25K MILES ON THEM, EVERYTHING WAS WORKING FINE UNTIL THE ABS ENGAGED ON MY FIRST TURN. A FEW MONTHS BACK, AFTER THE ABS WAS ACTIVATED THE BRAKES GOT SOFT/SPONGY. AFTER THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF AND SAT FOR A WHILE, THE BRAKES RESET. TODAY, MY CAR FELT LIKE IT HAD NO BRAKES. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FROM SOME OF THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE ONLINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES FAILED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SLOW DOWN FROM 30 MPH. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION CENTER WHERE THE BODY DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,440.
THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WHILE I WAS APPLYING THEM UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS. MAYBE 25 MPH ON A CITY STREET. AFTER HAVING A MECHANIC INSPECT MY CAR, HE DETERMINED THE ABS HYDRAULIC UNIT WAS BAD.....$1600 LATER THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. I GOT LUCKY, BUT THAT FAILURE COULD'VE BEEN DANGEROUS. THE BRAKES DID ENGAGE, BUT WHEN THE PEDAL WAS ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. *TR
BRAKING WHILE GOING OVER A SPEED BUMP AND ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ENGAGED BRIEFLY. AFTER INCIDENT, BRAKE PEDAL BECAME VERY SOFT. HAVE TO PUSH PEDAL ALMOST TO THE FLOOR BEFORE BRAKES GRAB NOW.
HIT THE BRAKES COMING DOWN A HILL ON WET SURFACE, HAD A ABS EVENT AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. HAD TO PUMP BRAKES TO STOP . NOW CONSTANT SOFT PEDAL. NO BRAKE LIGHT OR ABS LIGHT CAME ON OR HAVE SINCE COME ON. HAD MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER REPLACED WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND INFORMATION SAYING THE ABS SYSTEM WAS MALFUNCTIONING AND MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
TAKATA RECALL. IT HAS BEEN OVER TWO YEARS
IMMEDIATELY AFTER A BRAKING SITUATION WHERE THE ABS SYSTEM WAS ACTIVATED, MY BRAKE PEDAL HAD ALMOST NO RESISTANCE AND IT WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO ACHIEVE MODERATE BRAKING. HAD TO SHIFT TO PARK AND PUMP THE BRAKES TO GET BACK SOME RESISTANCE. IF I HAD NEEDED TO DO ADDITIONAL BRAKING IN THIS SCENARIO I WOULD ASSUME I WOULD HAVE CRASHED DUE TO LACK OF BRAKING ABILITY. CAR HAS 72000 MILES ON IT CURRENTLY AND THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN EXPERIENCED PROBABLY 5 TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR. AFTER MAYBE 20 MINUTES OF ADDITIONAL STOP AND GO DRIVING, THE BRAKES APPEAR TO BE NORMAL. THIS HAPPENED ON A CITY STREET AND THE ABS WAS ACTIVATED DUE TO BRAKING WHEN TIRE WENT OVER A SMOOTH METAL MANHOLE COVER.
I PURCHASED THIS USED CAR ON SEPT. 28, 2016. FIVE WEEKS LATER, ON NOV. 4, I WAS NEARING A RED LIGHT ON A CITY STREET AND BEGAN TO BRAKE. UNEXPECTEDLY, THE ABS ENGAGED AND I FOUND MYSELF WITHOUT ANY BRAKING POWER. I HAD TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR UNTIL THE CAR EVENTUALLY STOPPED APPROXIMATELY 12-15 FEET LATER. IF ANOTHER CAR OR A PERSON HAD BEEN IN FRONT OF ME, I WOULD HAVE HIT THEM. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR (AUTONATION FORD OF WHITE BEAT LAKE, MINNESOTA), TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED AND THEN DROVE MY CAR SLOWLY TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY KEPT IT FOR FOUR DAYS. THEY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER AND I WAS LED TO BELIEVE THAT THAT WAS THE END OF THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT ELSE MIGHT HAVE CAUSED SUCH A BRAKING PROBLEM. FIVE WEEKS LATER, ON DEC. 10, 2016, THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON ANOTHER CITY STREET AS I APPROACHED A RED LIGHT EXCEPT THIS TIME THE ABS ENGAGED BECAUSE THE ROAD WAS SEMI-SLIPPERY AFTER A SNOWFALL AND I HAD TO BRAKE A BIT HARDER. AGAIN, THE BRAKES DIDN'T WORK PROPERLY AND I HAD TO PRESS THEM TO THE FLOOR. MY CAR ENDED UP SLIDING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION (AGAINST A RED LIGHT) BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. LUCKILY, THERE WASN'T ANY OTHER TRAFFIC OR OBSTACLES IN THE INTERSECTION OR I WOULD HAVE HIT THEM AS WELL. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WITH FORD FUSION ABS SYSTEMS, INCLUDING A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS MADE TO NHTSA. (THERE'S ALSO A VIDEO ABOUT THE PROBLEM AT YOUTUBE.) I DISCOVERED THAT THE PROBLEM IS OFTEN MISDIAGNOSED AND THAT THE CAUSE IF A FAULTY/DEFECTIVE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT NEEDING TO BE REPLACED IN A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF FUSIONS BUILT WITHIN THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS. THESE FORD FUSIONS WITH FAULTY ABS NEED TO BE RECALLED BEFORE THERE ARE INJURIES AND FATALITIES, IF THERE HAVEN'T BEEN ALREADY.

ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY DEFECTIVE. ENGINE STALLS, LOSES POWER, ENTERS LIMP MODE, AND RUNS AT REDUCED SPEEDS. ESPECIALLY DANGERS LEAVING AN INTERSECTION, AFTER BEING STOPPED, YOU CAN'T RELY ON THE VEHICLE HAVING ENOUGH POWER TO CLEAR THE INTERSECTION AS ONCOMING TRAFFIC APPROACHES. ALWAYS CONCERNED ABOUT BEING T-BONED.
MY BRAKE PEDAL HAS GONE SOFT AND OPERATES NOW MUCH CLOSER TO THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE FOLLOWING A RATHER SEVERE APPLICATION OF BRAKING TO AVOID A COLLISION. (I WAS TRAVELING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION ON A MAJOR ROADWAY AT 40-45 MPH WHEN A VEHICLE MADE A LEFT TURN IN FRONT OF ME) IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE INCIDENT, I FEARED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT GOING TO STOP AT THE NEXT TRAFFIC LIGHT AND SO IT WENT FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY IN OCTOBER , 2016. THE BRAKES WERE NOT RIGHT. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES DID FEEL A LITTLE BETTER, HOWEVER, I AM SURE HAVING DRIVEN THIS VEHICLE SINCE PURCHASED NEW, THEY ARE NOT WHAT THEY WERE PRIOR TO THE HARD STOP. *TR
TWICE THIS YEAR I TRIED TO BRAKE WHILE GOING OVER A ROUGH SURFACE COMING TO AN INTERSECTION AND THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR AND IT TOOK MORE DISTANCE TO STOP THAN IT SHOULD. THE BRAKE PEDAL STAYED LOW FOR ABOUT 15 MIN. UNTIL IT EVENTUALLY CAME BACK TO REGULAR POSITION. TOOK IT TO DEALER ON OCT. 26,2016 WHEN IT HAPPENED THE SECOND TIME AND THEY SAID THEY CHECKED EVERYTHING AND MY BRAKES WERE FINE. I EVEN SUGGESTED IT SEEMED TO BE RELATED TO ABS SINCE I DIDN'T FEEL THE NORMAL 'GRABBING' SENSATION WHEN THE ABS TAKES OVER.
WHEN BRAKING WHILE DRIVING OVER MANHOLE COVERS OR BUMPS IN THE ROAD MY BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR MAKING BRAKING VERY DIFFICULT. AS IT APPEARS THE ABS KICKS IN AND THEN FAILS. *TR
TAKATA RECALL: MY PASSENGER AIRBAG HAS RUPTURED AND NEEDS REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS IN A STATIONARY POSITION WHEN THE RUPTURE OCCURRED. HOWEVER, I'M AFRAID IT MIGHT COMPLETELY BLOW UP ON ME WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE A DANGEROUS ACCIDENT. I WOULD APPRECIATE A PROMPT REPAIR. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE OF IT.
WHEN PRESSING BRAKE PEDAL AT ANY SPEED THE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. WHEN I TOOK TO DEALER FOR REPAIR THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO MASTER CYLINDER. I PAID OVER $800 FOR REPAIR BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. NOW DEALER IS TELLING ME IT COULD BE THE ABS. THEY ARE ASKING FOR AN ADDITIONAL $1000 TO FIX. HELP ME? I AM CONTINUING TO DRIVE THE CAR.
SUMMER OF 2016 THE WARNING LIGHT FOR AIR BAG CAME ON. OCT 20 2016 TOOK THE CAR INTO DEALERSHIP. THEY HAD THE CAR FOR TWO DAYS, NEVER MENTIONED ANY RECALL, NEEDED THE CAR FOR THE WEEKEND, THEY WANTED ME TO PAY FOR THE PART IN ADVANCE BEFORE ORDERING IT. DO NOT RECALL HOW WARNING LIGHT APPEARED ON THE THE DASH BOARD.
IN OCTOBER 2016 BRAKES FAILED WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN WHILE ABS MODULE ENGAGED. PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. HAD TO QUICKLY PUMP BRAKES TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. AFTER THE EVENT DETERMINE ABS PUMP WAS THE ROOT CAUSE AND REPLACED IT.
SEVERAL TIMES, SINCE WE'VE OWNED THIS CAR, THE ABS SYSTEM HAS KICKED IN. IF THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS ON ICE OR SNOW, EVERYTHING IS FINE AND BRAKES RETURN TO NORMAL. HOWEVER, IF THE ABS SYSTEM KICKS IN AND THE CAR IS ON A ROUGH ROAD/SURFACE, THEN THE BRAKES GO "SOFT" AFTER AND REMAIN THAT WAY FOR UP TO WEEKS AT A TIME. I WAS DRIVING ON A NEIGHBORHOOD SIDE STREET, LATE FOR AN APPOINTMENT AND WAS DOING ABOUT 35 IN A 25 ZONE, AND SUDDENLY I SAW ON THE CROSS STREET, THEY HAD MILLED THE ASPHALT. I BRAKED HARD TO SLOW DOWN FOR THE TRENCH I WAS GOING TO CROSS OVER AND THE ABS KICKED IN. WHEN I WAS BACK ON NORMAL ROAD SURFACE AND WAS BRAKING FOR A LIGHT, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, JUST STOPPING THE CAR IN TIME. I TRIED EVERYTHING, PUMPING THEM UP TO BRING IT TO A GRADUAL STOP, PUSHING SLOWER ON THE PEDAL AND SLAMMING ON THE PEDAL, THEY REMAINED SOFT AND I HAD 0 CONFIDENCE THAT MY CAR WOULD STOP ON TIME IN AN EMERGENCY. MY MECHANIC HAD MY CAR FOR MORE THEN 3 DAYS, BLEED THE LINES, NO CHANGE, REPLACED THE MASTER PUMP, NO CHANGE ( I ENDED UP LEAVING THE NEW MASTER PUMP ON SINCE IT'S 7 YEARS OLD AND HAS OVER 100,000 MILES ON IT) AND RE-BLEED THE LINES A SECOND TIME, NO CHANGE. OVER A PERIOD OF TIME, THEY FINALLY CAME BACK TO FULL PRESSURE. I GOOGLED FUSION BRAKE PROBLEMS AND WAS SURPRISED TO FIND MANY ENTRIES REFERRING TO THE SAME PROBLEM, THAT BEING ON A "ROUGH ROAD" AND ABS KICKING IN, SOFT BRAKES ENSUED. WHEN I HAVE GONE ON ROADS THAT ARE UNEVEN OR BUMPY MY BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK AND GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THEY WOULD BE FINE AFTER A WHILE. I WENT OVER SOME RAILROAD TRACKS AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHERE MY BRAKES GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. ITS HAS BEEN THAT WAY FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS NOW. I HAVE HAD THE BRAKES LOOKED AT AND NEW PADS PUT ON. ITS STILL NOT FIXED AND I STILL REALLY HAVE NO BRAKES AND TAKES A LOT TO STOP. EVEN PUMPING THE BRAKES DOESN'T WORK.
BRAKES GO TO THE FLOOR AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS GREATLY INCREASING STOPPING DISTANCE AND POSES SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERNS. BRAKE HCU (HYDROLIC CONTROL UNIT) /ABS SYSTEM MALFUNCTION POSES ISSUES WITH BUMPS IN THE ROAD, AND BRAKING WHILE TURNING EVEN AT SLOW SPEEDS. BRAKES RETURN TO NORMAL AFTER BEING PUMPED AND NO OTHER MALFUNCTIONS WITH BRAKE SYSTEM (BRAKE BOOSTER/MASTER CYLINDER/BRAKE PADS, CALIPERS, BRAKE FLUID) OPERATING NORMAL AFTER ASE DEALERSHIP MASTER MECHANICS CAN BE IDENTIFIED. OCCURS IN CITY STREETS, DRIVEWAY, PARKING LOTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD FUSION. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO RESPOND WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS FLUSHED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKES WITH MUCH FORCE TO STOP SUDDENLY, THE BRAKE PEDAL REMAINS SOFT/SPONGY. THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS REMAINED SOFT/SPONGY SINCE THE EVENT. THE BRAKES STILL WORK AND THERE IS NO WARNING OR INDICATOR LIGHT THAT INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. I CHANGED ALL FOUR BRAKE PADS AND THE BRAKE PEDAL REMAINS SOFT/SPONGY. I HAVE HAD TO ADJUST MY STOPPING DISTANCES.
THE ABS HYDRAULIC UNIT FAILED WHILE DRIVING AFTER HITTING A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD CAUSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GO TO THE FLOOR WHICH RESULTED IN POOR BRAKING ACTION NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. *TR
IN SITUATIONS WHERE A DRIVER IS BRAKING AND YOUR ABS BECOMES ENABLED, THERE IS A CHANCE THAT VALVES INSIDE THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) MAY STICK, GREATLY REDUCING PRESSURE SENT TO THE CALIPER/BRAKE. THE VALVES MAY CONTINUE TO BE STUCK UNTIL EITHER THE ABS IS REENGAGED OR UNTIL THE VALVES UNSTICK THEMSELVES, BETWEEN PERIODS OF HOURS OR WEEKS. WHILE THE VALVES ARE STUCK, BRAKE PEDDLES WILL FEEL EXTREMELY SPONGY AND ARE REQUIRED TO BE PRESSED TO THE FLOOR TO ACTUALLY HAVE THE DESIRED EFFECT OF SLOWING THE CAR. EVEN WHEN PRESSED ALL THE WAY DOWN, THE EFFECTS OF BRAKING ARE SEVERELY DIMINISHED WHEN COMPARED TO PROPERLY WORKING BRAKES. REDUCED BRAKING EFFECTIVENESS IS OBVIOUSLY EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR DRIVERS AND COULD, EVEN DURING CLEAR CONDITIONS, CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. REPLACEMENT OF THE HCU COSTS SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS AND IS ULTIMATELY A TEMPORARY FIX, AS THE ISSUE WILL EVENTUALLY REOCCUR.
WHILE IN THE ACT OF STOPPING FOR A RED LIGHT ON A BUMPY & POTHOLED ROAD THE BRAKE SYSTEM SEEMED TO LOOSE PRESSURE. THE BRAKE PEDAL ALMOST WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THIS 70%-80% LOSS OF BRAKING POWER PERSISTED UNTIL HAVING A MECHANIC FIX THE ABS SYSTEM IN SEPTEMBER 2016. THEN SOMETIME IN OCTOBER OF THE SAME YEAR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE APPEARED IN THE EXACT SAME MANNER. HAD THE MECHANIC ONCE AGAIN FIX IT. WHEN THE "MUSHY" PEDAL PROBLEM IS PERSISTING I HAVE TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THAT NOW MY CAR HAS ABOUT 80% LESS STOPPING POWER. LUCKILY NO ACCIDENT HAS OCCURRED HOWEVER THE PROBABILITY FOR ONE CERTAINLY INCREASED. *TR

THE ENTIRE DASH BOARD IS LIFTING FROM ITS ORIGINAL FORM. THE STORAGE/GLOVE COMPARTMENT WON'T EVEN OPEN ANYMORE DUE TO THE DASHBOARD LIFTING. MY A.C. HAS NOW STOP WORKING AND WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE I WAS TOLD IT COULD BE PART OF THE AIR BAG ISSUE. THE VENT THAT IS LOCATED TOWARDS THE WINDSHIELD CONTINUES TO FALL OUT AND NOW JUST GOES RIGHT THROUGH IT. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY MAJOR ACCIDENT OR DAMAGE IN THE FRONT TO TRIGGER THE BAG TO GO OFF JUST YET. I NOTICE THIS ABOUT A YEAR AND HALF AGO. I CONTACT FORD IN EL CAJON ,CA AND THEY TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO GET IT DIAGNOSED AND IF THEY CAN PROVE THAT IT IS THE AIR BAG I WILL GET A REFUND BUT IF NOT I'M LOOKING AT $2500 TO PUT EVERYTHING BACK TOGETHER AND POTENTIALLY FIXING EVERYTHING ELSE. LIKE SO MANY OTHERS, I EXPERIENCE A LOW/SOFT BRAKE PEDAL. BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED, LINES BLED, LEAKS CHECKED FOR. THE PROBLEM IS CLEARLY THE MALFUNCTIONING ABS HYDRAULIC MODULE, DESCRIBED IN THIS YOUTUBE VIDEO. I HAVE EXPERIENCED MY BRAKES GIVING OUT WHILE BRAKING ON SLICK SURFACES SUCH AS ROAD REPAIR COVERS, AS WELL AS ON RAINY ROADS. I HAVE SLID THROUGH INTERSECTIONS WHEN THE LIGHT WAS RED BECAUSE THE BRAKES WOULDN'T ENGAGE. AFTER EACH OF THESE OCCURRENCES, THE BRAKES ARE SPONGY, HAVING TO PUSH THEM TO THE FLOOR TO EVEN STOP.THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS. I OWN A 2009 FORD FUSION SEL WITH THE 3.0 ENGINE. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. THE BRAKE PEDAL IS VERY SPONGE, I HAVE REPLACED PADS, CALIPERS, AND THE MASTER CYLINDER. THIS HAS NOT TAKEN CARE OF THE PROBLEM, I HAVE REVIEWED OTHER INFORMATION AND IT SEEMS THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. FORD HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I HAVE RESEARCHED MORE OF THIS PROBLEM AND THE ONLY THING LEFT IS THE ABS PUMP AND MOTOR. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THIS HAS TAKEN CARE OF THE PROBLEM, THE COST TO DO THIS IS APPROXIMATELY $1500. PLUS LABOR COST. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY CLOSE CALL ACCIDENTS AS SOME OF THE OTHER COMPLAINTS. THIS IS AND COULD BE A ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS ALL THE TIME WHILE DRIVING.

A POLICE AND A FIRE REPORT WERE FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CHARGER CABLE THAT WAS PLUGGED INTO THE ACCESSORY POWER OUTLET CABLE (UNDERNEATH THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR MAT) BECAME HOT AND MELTED AND BURNED A HOLE IN THE CARPET, WHICH IGNITED THE FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,681. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,492.
WHENEVER I NEED TO BRAKE, THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR, AND THERE IS MINIMAL RESISTANCE FROM THE BRAKES. THIS APPLIES TO ABS SITUATIONS (RAINY, ICY WEATHER) AND DRY CONDITIONS WHEN BRAKES ARE NEEDED SUDDENLY (HIGHWAY SLOWDOWN, ANIMAL JUMPING IN THE ROAD). THIS APPLIES TO TRAVELING AT ANY MPH, INCLUDING HIGHWAY AND CITY DRIVING. THE PEDAL ALSO DROPS TO THE FLOOR WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK. PUMPING THE PEDAL IS REQUIRED TO FEEL ANY RESISTANCE, BUT IT IS NECESSARY EVERY TIME THE BRAKES ARE NEEDED. TIME AND DISTANCE NEEDED TO SLOW DOWN ARE EXPONENTIALLY MORE THAN EVEN A YEAR AGO. BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED 3 YEARS AGO, FLUIDS WERE FLUSHED, REPLACED, AND BLED 4 MONTHS AGO. AUTO BODY SHOPS REPORT ALL IS WELL AND THAT THERE IS NO REASON MY BRAKES SHOULD BE SO SLOW TO REACT OR THE PEDAL SHOULD DROP TO THE FLOOR.
MY FORD FUSION WAS PARKED AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. I WENT TO START THE CAR AND IT TOOK AT LONG TIME TO CRANK AND RAN VERY ROUGHLY WHEN IDLING. THE CHECK ENGINE AND WRENCH LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. IT READ ERROR CODESP2112 THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM - STUCK CLOSED AND P2104 TAC - FORCED IDLE. THE GAS PEDAL WAS NONRESPONSIVE AND THE CAR WAS IMMOBILIZED. IT RESTARTED LIKE THIS SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE STARTING NORMALLY AND OPERATING NORMALLY. THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON. THE FORD DEALER CONFIRMED THAT MY CAR NEEDS A NEW THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. THE VIN # OF MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN FORD'S CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM REGARDING THROTTLE PROBLEMS IN VEHICLES FROM 2009-2013, ALTHOUGH MY 2009 FUSION HAS 123,850 MILES ON IT. FORD WILL DO THIS REPAIR FREE IN VEHICLES THAT MEET THE CRITERIA, ALTHOUGH THERE IS NO OFFICIAL RECALL ON THE CARS. THE DEALER SAID THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL REPAIRED. I AM THANKFUL AND LUCKY THIS DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING.
MY 2009 FORD FUSION WOULD NOT CRANK, THEN WHEN IT DID IT IDLED ROUGH AND WOULD NOT SPEED UP. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY FORD DEALER WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED. EVEN THOUGH FORD HAS A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13B17 AND 13B03 THAT REFERS TO MY CAR, I WAS INFORMED THAT MY CAR WAS NOT COVERED. I'M GLAD THAT I WAS NOT DRIVING THE CAR AT THE TIME.

WHILE EXITING OFF THE INTERSTATE AND PASSING OVER ROUGH PAVEMENT, THE ABS ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE LOST BRAKE PRESSURE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND BRAKING ABILITY WAS VERY WEAK. HAD TO QUICKLY PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES TO REGAIN BRAKING FUNCTION. FROM THEN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS EXTREMELY SOFT. HAD BRAKES BLED, FIXED SOFT PEDAL UNTIL ABS AGAIN ENGAGED. IT WAS THE SAME SOFT PEDAL AGAIN. HAD A NEW MASTER CYLINDER INSTALLED AND LINES BLED, AND STILL SOFT PEDAL. THEN RESEARCHED PROBLEM ON INTERNET AND FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME BRAKE PROBLEMS. CONTACTED 2 DIFFERENT LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIPS AND THEY BOTH TOLD ME THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON 2009 FUSION. TOLD ME IT IS THE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT. MY CONCLUSION IS DEALERSHIPS ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, AND I AM SURE FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS AWARE OF IT ALSO. WHEN THE ABS FAILURE HAPPENS IT IS DANGEROUS. AND I'M AM SURE IT HAS CAUSED ACCIDENTS. FORD HAS REPLACED BY DOOR MECHANISM TWICE NOW AND YET THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WOULD NOT GO OFF. THEY THEN TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW DASH CLUSTER. WHILE IN THE SHOP THEY FOUND THE WIRING HARNESS IN THE DOOR HAD CAUSED A SHORT AND FRIED THE DASH CLUSTER.I COULD NOT TURN OFF MY DOAM LIGHTS AND THE ALARM SYSTEM KEPT GOING OFF AT RANDOM. I KEPT WAITING FOR ALL MY DIGITAL INSTRUMTATION TO FAIL.

WHILE TURNING MY BRAKE PRESSURE DROPPED. WHEN THIS HAPPENED I PUSHED THE PEDAL DOWN AND HAD ALMOST NO BRAKE PRESSURE. THIS HAPPENED ON TWO OCCASIONS IN DIFFERENT MONTHS. NO LIGHTS (ABS) CAME ON. IT BECAME VERY CHALLENGING TO STOP, AND I WAS CONCERNED I WAS UNABLE TO STOP. I ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME THE SECOND TIME. MY CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I CAN NOT GET THE BRAKE PRESSURE BACK BY PUMPING THE PEDAL. THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. AFTER RESEARCHING ON NHTSA I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND THERE WAS NO SAFETY BULLETIN OR RECALL AS THERE ARE ABOUT 26 OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. FORD SHOULD TAKE THIS VERY SERIOUSLY AS IT IS A MASSIVE SAFETY ISSUE.
