SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS, INCLUDING TODAY, WHEN THE ABS STARTS, IT LOOSES BREAKING ABILITY. I ALMOST WRECKED THE VEHICLE INTO THE GAS PUMP THIS MORNING AFTER STARTING TO BREAK OFF THE HIGHWAY, COMING INTO THE STATION, THE RIGHT FRONT TIME LOST IT'S GRIP AFTER GOING OVER A RAIN GRATE, THE ABS THEN KICKED IN AND ALL THE SUDDEN MUSH FOR BRAKES. IT IS ONLY EVER CORRECTED AFTER YOU STOP THE CAR, PUT IN PARK, TURN OFF ENGINE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AND RESTART. BRAKES ARE WORTHLESS UNTIL THE CAR IS "RESET."
WHEN BRAKING ON UNEVEN SURFACES THE BRAKE GOES TO THE FLOOR AND DOESN'T STOP THE CAR PROPERLY. I NEED TO PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GET IT WORKING AGAIN. I TRIED TO STOP WHEN APPROACHING A MAIN ROAD FROM A SIDE ROAD. THE MAIN ROAD WAS BEING RESURFACED AND WAS ABOUT 1" OR 2" LOWER THAN THE SIDE ROAD. AS THE FRONT TIRES WERE DROPPING DOWN THE TRANSITION FROM THE NORMAL ROAD TO THE LOWER ROAD I APPLIED THE BRAKE, THE BRAKE PEDAL HIT THE FLOOR OF THE CAR AND DID NOT BRAKE IN A NORMAL AMOUNT IF TIME OR SPACE. IT FELT LIKE THE BRAKE FAILED. I HAD TO HIT THE BRAKE NUMEROUS TIMES TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. THE WHEELS WERE NOT TURNED WHEN THE BRAKE FAILURE HAPPENED. THE BRAKE CONTINUED TO NOT WORK PROPERLY UNTIL I PUMPED IT UP AGAIN. THE BRAKE FAILURE HAPPENED NUMEROUS OTHER TIMES WHEN TRYING TO BRAKE WHEN GOING OVER POTHOLES AND OTHER UNEVEN SURFACES. THE WHEELS ARE ALWAYS STRAIGHT WHEN THE BRAKE FAILURES OCCUR. THE BRAKES SEEM TO FAIL EACH TIME THE FRONT WHEELS ARE GOING DOWN A BREAK IN THE ROAD. THE BRAKES CONTINUE TO NOT WORK CORRECTLY ON ALL SURFACES UNTIL I PUMP THEM UP AGAIN. MY MECHANIC DOES NOT KNOW THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM HAS ALWAYS HAPPENED ON CLEAR, DRY ROADS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD FUSION. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH OR MORE, THE BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO ALLOW FOR A SIGNIFICANT DECREASE IN SPEED DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE DISTANCE NEEDED BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHENEVER THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE UNEVEN OR UNSTABLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE BRIARWOOD FORD DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE16017 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULICS); HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR AND FRONT BRAKES, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HCU FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

TAKATA RECALL. MY VEHICLE HAS AN AIRBAG INFLATOR RECALL AS OF JUNE 1ST 2016. A VEHICLE WITH A SAFETY FEATURE DEFECT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, AND LOANER VEHICLES ARE NOT BEING ISSUED. WHY AM I SUBJECT TO INJURY OR POSSIBLE DEATH BECAUSE OF A FAULTY PART THAT HASN'T BEEN REPLACED? MY CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF THE TAKATA RECALL, AND THERE IS NOT YET A REMEDY FOR THE RECALL. IT'S BEEN 15 MONTHS SINCE THE RECALL WAS ISSUED, AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. I'VE BEEN TOLD BY A FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER, THAT THERE IS NO ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE AND IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. WHICH IS WRONG BECAUSE IF EVERYTHING WAS FINE THEN THERE WOULDN'T BE A RECALL ON IT. AND WHY IS IT THAT FORD ISN'T GIVING OUT LOANER OR RENTAL VEHICLES TO CONSUMERS WHO ARE AFFECTED BY THE RECALL? WHY IS IT THAT NHTSA AND HONDA ADVISE THAT THEIR VEHICLES EFFECTED BY THE RECALL ONLY BE DRIVEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR REPAIR, BUT FOR FORDS NHTSA SAYS THEY ARE SAFE TO DRIVE? IT SHOULDN'T MATTER WHAT MAKE OR MODEL, IF IT IS AFFECTED BY THE RECALL THEN IT ISN'T SAFE TO DRIVE. I SHOULD NOT BE EXPECTED TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE, JUST BECAUSE THE PARTS AREN'T AVAILABLE. THAT IS PUTTING SO MANY LIVES AT RISK. I, AS SHOULD OTHERS AFFECTED, BE ISSUED A LOANER OR RENTAL VEHICLE AT THE COMPANIES EXPENSE, FOR HAVING A DEFECTING PART IN THEIR VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (O'MEARA FORD, 400 W 104TH AVE, NORTHGLENN, CO, 80234) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SINCE IT WAS AN UPHOLSTERY REPAIR, THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO CALL AN AUTO BODY SHOP. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT SOMETHING THAT THEY WOULD COVER. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT OFFER ANY ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE EXCEPT FOR REFERRING THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 58,000.

TAKATA RECALL. I GOT THE RECALL NOTICE JUNE 1, 2016. IT IS NOW OCTOBER 20, 2017, AND NONE OF THE FORD DEALERS I HAVE CONTACTED HAVE HAD THE PARTS SINCE THE RECALL. I UNDERSTAND IT TAKES SOME TIME TO ADDRESS A RECALL PROBLEM, BUT IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN A YEAR. THE DEALERS SAY THERE IS NO WAY TO DISABLE THIS BOMB IN MY CAR.

BRAKES STARTING GOING TO THE FLOOR ON BUMPS. STARTING HAPPENING FREQUENTLY SO I TOOK IN FOR REPAIR AND HAD TO HAVE A NEW ABS SENOR INSTALLED. I DID A REFURBISHED ONE WITH A THREE YEAR WARRANTY IN ORDER TO SAVE SOME MONEY. IT STILL COST @$550.

AFTER COMING TO A HARD STOP ON INTERSTATE DUE TO A CRASH AHEAD BRAKE PEDAL WENT SOFT AND BRAKING WAS DIMINISHED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A NEARBY FORD DEALER AND THEY BLED THE BRAKES AND ENGAGED THE ANTI-LOCK SYSTEM IN A GRAVEL LOT TO 'RESET' THE SYSTEM. I TREATED THIS AS A ON OFF ANOMALY UNTIL I SAW IN THE NEWS THAT OTHERS HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED THIS.
I WAS PARKING MY 09 FUSION AT MY SON'S PRESCHOOL, AND WAS ALMOST STOPPED IN THE SPOT, WHEN MY CAR VIOLENTLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED FORWARD UP OVER A 4 INCH CURB. I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE AS HARD AS I COULD, BUT IT WAS THE TREE THAT I HIT THAT STOPPED ME. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE CAR, BUT I HAD BOTH MY CHILDREN (4 YEARS OLD AND 11 MONTHS OLD) IN THEIR CAR SEATS WITH ME AT THE TIME. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE PARKING. BOTH TIMES I WAS GOING LESS THAT 10 MPH AND WAS ALMOST AT A COMPLETE STOP WHEN THE CAR UNEXPECTEDLY LURCHED FORWARD. THE BRAKES WILL RANDOMLY GET SPONGY AND GO TO THE FLOOR WHEN APPLIED IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. ALSO THE BRAKES WILL FEEL SPONGY AND GO TO THE FLOOR WHEN APPLIED AND THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD. NEITHER MY HUSBAND OR MYSELF HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT IN THIS VEHICLE BUT HAVE HAD TO EXIT THE ROADWAY TO AVOID REAR ENDING OTHER VEHICLES. ALSO THE VEHICLE HAS TRAVELED INTO INTERSECTIONS PRIOR TO STOPPING WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP WHILE TRAVELING OVER BUMPS. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND SCARY AND AS A RESULT WE CAN'T ALLOW OUR CHILDREN TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. WE PREVIOUSLY HAD A 2007 FORD FUSION IN WHICH MY DAUGHTER REAR ENDED ANOTHER CAR IN TRAFFIC WHEN SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THAT FORD FUSION WAS TOTALED. WHEN THE BRAKES ARE NOT HAVING THE ABOVE PROBLEMS, IT IS A GREAT CAR TO DRIVE. THESE BRAKE ISSUES MAKE ME A VERY UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVER AS WE HAVE A LOT OF BUMPY ROADS IN MY CITY. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS 3-4 YEARS AGO. MY WIFE WAS BRAKING AT A STOP LIGHT AND HIT A SMALL POTHOLE IN WHICH THE BREAK PETAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND SHE WAS ABLE TO COME TO A FULL STOP EVEN THOUGH IT TOOK A LOT LONGER TO DO SO. SHE PULLED OVER AND I HAD TO PICK HER UP AND TOOK THE CAR INTO A LOCAL BREAK REPAIR CHAIN. BY THE TIME THEY WERE ABLE TO CHECK IT OUT THE BREAKS WERE WORKING FINE AGAIN. WHEN WE DESCRIBED THE ISSUE THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY REPORTS OF THIS ON THE INTERNET. I BELIEVE THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THE BREAK FLUID WAS CHANGED SINCE THE LOCATIONS INDICATED WET OR DIRTY BREAK FLUID CAN CAUSE THESE SYMPTOMS. THIS HAPPENED A FEW MORE TIMES TO MY WIFE AND SHE DECIDED SHE WOULD NO LONGER DRIVE THE CAR. I THEN STARTED DRIVING AND AGAIN IN A SIMILAR SCENARIO IN WHICH I WAS BREAKING AND RAN OVER A MANHOLE COVER THE BREAKS WENT TO THE FLOOR AND WAS DIFFICULT TO STOP THE CAR. I AGAIN TOOK IT TO ANOTHER BREAK SPECIALIST FRANCHISE AND THEY COULD NOT FIND AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR OR ON THE INTERNET ALTHOUGH THE BREAKS PEDAL HAS BECOME SOFT AND HAS REMAINED THAT WAY. BREAK FLUID WAS CHANGED AGAIN FOR BEING DIRTY. MY BREAKS HAVE CONTINUED TO BE SOFT AND WILL REPLICATE THE ISSUE WHEN BRAKING AND HITTING A BUMP BUT APPEARS TO BE ONLY WHEN THE BUMP HITS THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL. I NEED TO GET MY BREAK PADS REPLACED NOW AND DECIDED TO RESEARCH THIS ISSUE AGAIN AND I AM FINDING THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. WHY HASN'T FORD RECALLED THIS PRODUCT OR DOING ANYTHING TO MAKE IT RIGHT WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS.

SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR, I HAVE HAD AN ISSUE WITH LOSING BRAKE PRESSURE AFTER MY ABS BRAKES WERE ACTIVATED. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS ON A COUNTRY ROAD. I HIT THE BRAKES PRETTY HARD TO AVOID HITTING A DEER. AFTER THE ABS ACTIVATED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR BEFORE BRAKES WOULD WORK. I CALLED A FRIEND OF MINE THAT IS A FORD CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN. HE HAD ME PUMP THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES AND THE PEDAL CAME BACK UP. ANOTHER TIME I WAS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT DOING ABOUT 10 MPH WHEN ONE TIRE HIT A DIP IN THE ROAD AND THE OTHER TIRE DID NOT. THE ABS ACTIVATED AND I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL. AFTER A FEW DAYS, THE BRAKE PEDAL FREED UP AND WAS BACK TO NORMAL. ANOTHER TIME, I WAS PULLING OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND AS THE FIRST TIE WENT OFFROAD, THE ABS ACTIVATED. AGAIN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND WAS SOFT. PUMPING THE BRAKES NO LONGER WORKED AND BRAKING DISTANCE WAS LONGER. I TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC SEVERAL TIMES. HAD BRAKES, ROTORS AND PISTONS REPLACED BUT IT STILL CONTINUES TO HAPPEN EVERYTIME THE ABS BRAKES ACTIVATE. IT HAPPENED A FEW MORE TIMES DURING WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE PEDAL FREES UP ON ITS OWN AFTER A FEW DAYS BUT I HAVE TO DRIVE MUCH SLOWER AND START BRAKING EARLIER. I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM TO SEE IF THERE WERE OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND FOUND IT THAT THERE HAVE BEE. SEVERAL COMPLAINTS. I FOUND SOME INFORMATION CLAIMING THAT A PIN IN THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT IS TO BLAME BUT IM NOT SURE. AS STATED, I HAD THE CAR TO A MECHANIC SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY CANT SEEM TO PINPOINT A PROBLEM. *TR

FUEL PUMP OVERHEATED AND PUMP, SENDING UNIT, AND WIRING HARNESS ALL MELTED AND DESTROYED. DISCOVERED UPON BEING UNABLE TO START CAR. NO SIGN OF ISSUES PRIOR TO THIS
I WAS DRIVING ALONG ABOUT 25 MPH AND HAD TO STOP AT A TURN ON A METAL PLATE AND THE ABS PULSED BECAUSE THE PLATE WAS SLIPPERY. AFTER THE ABS PULSED THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT SOFT AND HAD TO BE PUSHED TO THE FLOOR TO STOP THE CAR, WITH NO BRAKES UNTIL THE PEDAL GOT TO THE FLOOR. IT REMAINED THIS WAY FOR SEVERAL BLOCKS THEN RETURNED TO NORMAL AFTER PUMPING THE BRAKE AND TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON. BONNELL FORD DEALER RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND IT PULLED NO CODES SO THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. 4 MONTHS LATER I WAS DRIVING ON A SNOWY RODE ABOUT 25 MPH AND SWERVED WHILE BRAKING TO AVOID A DOWNED TREE. ABS PULSED AND AGAIN THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, AND THE BRAKE REMAINED SOFT AFTER THE ABS EVENT. AGAIN NO BRAKE PEDAL FEEL AND THE BRAKE HAS TO BE PUSHED TO THE FLOOR TO ENGAGE AT ALL. IT REMAINED THIS WAY AFTER PUMPING AND RESTARTING THE CAR. IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT IT TO THE FORD DEALER WITH THE BRAKE STILL SOFT, AND TOLD THEM TO REPLACE THE HCU. THEY RAN THE SAME DIAGNOSTICS BUT DID NOT ADDRESS OR ACKNOWLEDGE THE SOFT BRAKE PEDAL AND DIMINISHED BRAKING, ADVISED AGAINST REPLACING THE HCU, RETURNED IT TO ME SAYING THERE WAS NO PROBLEM BECAUSE IT WAS NOT PULLING CODES. BONNELL FORD AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS TOLD ME TO KEEP DRIVING IT WITH THE FAULTY BRAKES AND KEEP TAKING IT BACK TO THE DEALER. CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO MORE FORD DEALERS TO GET MORE OPINIONS, EVEN THOUGH I TOLD THEM IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF THE DIMINISHED BRAKING.
