2009 FORD FUSION. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE ACCELERATION ISSUES. *SMD I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON DECEMBER 15TH 2014 THE CAR I OWN IS A 2009 FORD FUSION SEL. MY ACCELERATOR GOT STUCK ON MY CAR. I WENT ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS ONE. UPDATED 03/12/15*JB
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH IS BROKEN. THE DOOR HAS TO BE OPENED WITH THE LATCH LOCK. PASSENGER SIDE DOOR IS ALSO CRACKED BUT STILL HOLDING UP.
TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT NOTICE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THE ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE OF NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE13003 (ENGINE) AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DISPLAYED THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. 2009 FORD FUSION - WHILE DRIVING, ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIT UP. DRIVER PULLED OVER TO SAFE AREA & SHUT OFF VEHICLE. VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. LIGHTS, RADIO AND FAN STILL WORKED. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GARAGE FOR ASSESSMENT & REPAIRS - THE MAIN POWER CONTROL MODULE AND THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WERE BAD, BATTERY WAS AT 9 INSTEAD OF 12 - ALL COMPONENT'S NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
DRIVING DOWN ROAD IN CITY, 25 MPH, APPROACHING INTERSECTION TO MAKE RIGHT TURN, BEGAN TURNING AND HALFWAY THROUGH TURN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED IN PLACE AND I COULD NOT COMPLETE THE TURN. LUCKILY NO CAR WAS IN LEFT LANE AT LIGHT OR I WOULD HAVE HIT IT. STOPPED CAR JUST BEFORE HITTING CURB AND BUILDING. SHUT OFF, RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO GET STEERING TO WORK AGAIN. TAKING TO SHOP FOR EVALUATION. *TR
2009 FORD FUSION SEL V6 I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH THE ABS SYSTEM. THE BRAKES ARE SOFT AND REALLY ONLY ACTIVATE WHEN PUSHED ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. THE ISSUE STARTED AT ABOUT 75000 MILES. I HAVE REPLACED THE BRAKES, BLEED AND REPLACED BRAKE FLUID, NO LEAKS, CHECKED CALIPERS AND MASTER CYLINDER. THE PROBLEM IS THE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL SYSTEM. WHEN REPLACEMENT OF THE FLUID AND BRAKES THE PROBLEM RESOLVED UNTIL I MADE A SHARP TURN TO THE RIGHT AND HAD WHEEL SLIP. ABS ACTIVATED AND FROM THAT POINT ON IT LOST MOST BRAKING ABILITY. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG MANY SMALL FORD MANUFACTURED VEHICLES. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AS IT HAS CAUSED COUNTLESS NEAR MISSES IN MY CAR. FORD KNOWS OF THE ISSUE AND THAT IT DISABLES THE ABS SYSTEM BUT WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. IT DOES HOWEVER OFFER TO REPLACE THE PART FOR OVER $1000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERIOR DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE FAILED TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE DOOR HANDLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE DOOR HANDLE BEING MADE OF PLASTIC. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 6 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT A FAILURE COULD NOT BE LOCATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME BRAKING ISSUE (BRAKE PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR) THAT IS BEING INVESTIGATED A COUPLE OF TIMES WHEN I HAD TO BRAKE SUDDENLY ON UNEVEN SURFACES (ONCE WAS A COBLE STONE ENTRANCE) THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR WHEN I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL (VERY SIMILAR TO WHEN THERE IS AIR IN THE BRAKE LINES OR A BAD MASTER CYLINDER) AND BOTH TIMES I WAS BARELY ABLE TO STOP IN TIME (LUCKY FOR ME THAT BOTH INSTANCES WERE AT LOW SPEED LESS THAN 10 MPH). TOOK THE CAR TO HAVE THE BRAKES CHECKED AND THEY REPLACED THEY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER WHICH DID NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE. BOTH TIMES THE BRAKES EVENTUALLY CAME BACK TO WORKING NORMALLY AFTER A WHILE.
WHILE TRAVELING AT 65 MPH IN TRAFFIC, THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN. DASHBOARD LIGHTS APPEARED AND THE CAR LOST ALL POWER, INCLUDING POWER BRAKES AND STEERING. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHILE EXITING THE ROADWAY. DUE TO THE LACK OF STEERING AND BRAKING ABILITY, I DON'T FEEL A PERSON OF SMALLER STATURE, I.E. MY WIFE, WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL WITHOUT BEING IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
ON 8/10/2014, AFTER PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, WE NOTICED A REDUCTION IN ACCELERATION ON OUR 2009 FORD FUSION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO AUTOZONE, THE CODES P2112 AND P2104 SHOWED UP INDICATING A DEFECT WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. UPON RESEARCHING THE INTERNET WE FOUND THE NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE13003 WHICH INDICATED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS PART ON 2009-2013 FUSIONS AND THAT FORD WOULD COVER THE REPAIR WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. WE TOOK THE CAR TO SOUTHWAY FORD IN SAN ANTONIO ON MONDAY, 8/11/2014. ON FRIDAY, 8/15/2014, THE FORD SERVICE ADVISOR INDICATED THAT THE PROBLEM TRULY WAS THE THROTTLE BODY, BUT WE WERE TOLD THAT FORD WOULD NOT PAY FOR THIS REPAIR. WE HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE SERVICE MANAGER AT SOUTHWAY FORD AND TO THE CORPORATE CUSTOMER RELATIONS DEPARTMENT AT FORD. OBVIOUSLY, THERE IS A DEFECT IN THIS PART, WHICH CAUSES A POTENTIAL LIFE-THREATENING SAFETY HAZARD BUT FORD DOES NOT SEEM TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR CORRECTING THE PROBLEM. *TR

JUST VERY CONCERNED. THE BRAKE HUB S GET EXTREMELY HOT AND THE BRAKE PADS WERE NO GOOD I HAVE LESS THAN 20'000 MILES ON MY 2009 FORD FUSION. THE CAR IS DROVE VERY LITTLE AND IS GARAGE KEPT.I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT FROM FORD MOTOR TO MAKE A VEHICLE THAT THE BRAKE HUBS GET HOT AND WEAR OUT THE PADS. I HAD FORD VEHICLES FOR YEARS AND NEVER HAS BEEN A PROBLEM. WHY DO YOU ALLOW A PROBLEM LIKE THIS TO GO ON.. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN TOO. MY OLDER FORD VEHICLES NEVER DID HAVE BRAKES THAT YOU QUESTIONED WHETHER OR NOT YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. NOW I WORRY THAT IT MAY NOT STOP. JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO IT ALMOST DIDN'T STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES IT CONTINUED TO ROLL AND I ROLLED THRU FOUR CAR LENGTHS BEFORE IT FINALLY STOPPED. I WAS SO FRIGHTENED !! I TOO NOTICED FORD IS RECALLING SOME OF THE NEWER FOR FUSIONS FOR THIS PROBLEM. SUGGEST THAT THEY RECALL ALL VEHICLES THAT HAVE THE BRAKES LIKE WHAT IS ON THE FUSION ....WHY DOES SOMEONE NEED TO LOOSE THEIR LIVES TO GET A PROBLEM LIKE THIS FIXED?? THE AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY IS FAILING THE CONSUMERS AND LACKING SAFETY STANDARDS . USA AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS. *TR
THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE BECAME INOPERABLE PREVENTING OCCUPANT FROM OPENING THE DOOR FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE.THIS CONDITION MAY PREVENT THE DRIVER AND OTHER OCCUPANTS FROM EXITING THE VEHICLE SAFELY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH OR FIRE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING INTO A PARKING LOT, THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER AND THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. TRIED TO OPEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. NOTHING HAPPENED. HAD TO ROLL DOWN WINDOW TO OPEN DOOR FROM OUTSIDE. GLAD MY BATTERY WAS NOT DEAD. TOOK OFF PANEL AND SAW THE CHEAP PLASTIC HANDLE WAS BROKEN. *TR
WHILE MERGING ONTO A FREEWAY MY CAR EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING. SHORTLY AFTERWARDS MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO SEE WHAT IT WAS. IT WAS A BAD CATALYTIC CONVERTER I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD TAKE 4 WEEKS TO GET ONE IN. MEANWHILE IT BEING MY ONLY CAR I ASKED AND WAS DENIED A LOANER VEHICLE FROM FORD MOTOR CO. AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL SAFE TO DRIVE AS LONG AS I DID NOT LET IT GOO TOO LONG WITHOUT THE REPAIR. I CALLED BACK 4 WEEKS LATER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE AN ADDITIONAL 4-8 WEEKS AS THERE WERE "NO" PARTS TO BE FOUND ANYWHERE. THIS WORRIED ME GREATLY AS THEY EVEN SAID PROBLEMS COULD ARISE IF DRIVEN TOO LONG WITHOUT BEING FIXED. SO I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND WAS TREATED LIKE CRAP BY THEM. THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE WILLING TO HELP BUT "NOT" WILLING TO DO ANYTHING. SO I CALLED A LOCAL NEWS STATION WHO PUT ME IN TOUCH WITH THEIR EXECUTIVE OFFICES WHERE I GOT THE SAME RESPONSE. NO LOANER VEHICLE AND NO COMPENSTAION FOR THE EXTRA GAS I HAD TO BUY AS IT SUCKED IT DOWN. WHENEVER SOMEONE FROM FORD'S CALLS ME I AM LUCKY TO GET A SENTENCE IN BEFORE THEY HUNG UP ON ME! THANKFULLY TO MY CONTACTING A LOCAL NEWS STATION THEY MADE ENOUGH HEADWAY WITH FORD THAT MY PART "FINALLY" ARRIVED TODAY ON 07/28/14 BUT I AM EXTREMELY UPSET THAT FORD WOULD PUT ME IN THE SITUATION WHERE MYSELF AND MY FAMILY COULD BE IN DANGER BY DRIVING AN AUTOMOBILE THAT IS NOT SAFE. DRIVING WITH BAD CATALYTIC CONVERTERS IS NOT SAFE AND COULD CAUSE ALL SORTS OF OTHER ISSUES AND THE FACT THAT FORD'S ENCOURAGED ME TO DO SO IS FRIGHTENING. THIS FOR ONE ALONG WITH THE GM ISSUES HAS ME SERIOUSLY THINKING OF BUYING A FOREIGN AUTOMOBILE FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER. IT WAS WRONG WHAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY DID TO MYSELF AND MY FAMILY AND I HOPE THAT THIS COMPLAINT WILL PREVENT THEM FROM DOING THIS AGAIN IN THE FUTURE! *JS
THE ERROR CODE FOR MY CAR INDICATED THERE WAS PROBLEM WITH THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION PUMP AND THE DEALERSHIP ORDERED THE PART. WHEN I WENT TO HAVE THE PART PUT ON, I WAS ADVISED I NOT ONLY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION PUMP, BUT THE AIR VALVE AS WELL. SINCE I WAS LAST THERE OTHER CUSTOMERS WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. AND THIS PROBLEM WAS OCCURRING BECAUSE WATER WAS SOME HOW GETTING INTO THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION PUMP AND WORKING ITS WAY UP TO THE AIR VALVE. THEREFORE, THEY BOTH NEED TO BE REPLACED AND IT WOULD COST $700 PLUS FIX. MY CONCERN IS HOW IS THE WATER GETTING INTO THE PUMP IN THE FIRST PLACE (IS THIS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT?). AND IF IT IS, WHAT IS GOING TO KEEP WATER FROM GETTING INTO THE PUMP IN THE FUTURE? *TR
THE DOOR HANDLES AND DOOR LOCKS ON THE DRIVERS DOOR AS WELL AS THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR ARE MADE FROM SOME TYPE OF PLASTIC AND BOTH OF THEM BROKE FROM NORMAL USAGE. THE DRIVERS DOOR IS NOT ABLE TO BE LOCKED FROM THE OUTSIDE NOR IS THE DOOR ABLE TO BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE USING THE HANDLE, THUS CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE. THE PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS ARE INOPERABLE AS WELL. I CONTACTED A LOCAL FORD DEALER WHO TOLD ME THIS ISSUE IS COMMON WITH THIS PARTICULAR MODEL AND THAT THE HANDLES WERE MADE OF POOR QUALITY. I WOULD LIKE FORD TO RECOGNIZE THIS PROBLEM AND ISSUE A RECALL TO THOSE AFFECTED BY THIS AND OFFER TO FIX THIS ISSUE. *TR
AN ABNORMAL AMOUNT OF RUST ON THE HOOD ABOVE THE GRILL AND INSIDE THE BACK DOORS JUST ABOVE THE WHEEL WELLS. *TR
THIS WINTER I HAVE EXPERIENCED LOSE TO TIRE PRESSURE DUE TO CORROSION ON THE ALUMINUM WHEEL SEALING SURFACE TO THE TIRE. WEEKS EARLIER I THOUGHT IT WAS A HOLE/NAIL IN THE TIRE, BUT THE TIRE SERVICE PERSON SAID IT WAS DUE TO CORROSION OF THE WHEEL SEALING BEAD AREA. THE TECH CLEAN THE AREA AND TWO WEEKS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN, THIS TIME I ADDED AIR TO THE TIRE TO ONLY FIND IT LOST MOST OF THE AIR THE NEXT MORNING. AGAIN THE TIRE TECH SHOWED MY THE WHEEL BEAD AREA AND IT WAS VERY CORRODED, AND COULDN'T HOLD THE REQUIRED TIRE PRESSURE. DOES FORD HAVE A WHEEL CORROSION PROBLEM? MY EXPERIENCE TELLS ME YES. I WOULD HATE TO PASS THIS PROBLEM TO ANOTHER PERSON. *TR
I'M CONCERED WITH THE AIR BAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE DASHBOARD PANEL HAS LIFTED RIGHT ON TOP OF THE AIR BAG. I'M AFFRAID THIS MIGHT BE A SAFETY CONCERN AND DO NOT KNOW WHY THE DASH AROUND THE AIR BAG IS WARPED/ RISING. THE DASH AIR VENTS ARE ALSO PUSHED OUT OF PLACE. I HAVE GRAND CHILDREN THAT RIDE IN THE CAR AND AM CONCERNED FOR THEIR SAFETY AS WELL AS MY OWN. *TR
TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL
I PARKED MY CAR IN THE GARAGE AND TRIED OPENING THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. BUT THE HANDLE AND LOCK WOULD NOT WORK. SO I HAVE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW AND OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. ALSO THE DRIVER DOOR WILL NOT LOCK. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SECURITY ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO CAUSE THIS. IT IS JUST VERY CHEAP PARTS AND POORLY DESIGNED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME AND MY 2009 FORD FUSION SHUT OFF ON ME TWICE. ONE TIME AT A RED LIGHT. *TR

WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR, VIBRATED, AND THE ABS ACTIVATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE PUMPED TO COME BACK UP. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE PEDAL WOULD REMAIN SOFT FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME DURING COLD WEATHER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
SLOWED DOWN TO TURN IN A PARKING LOT AND CAR JUST STALLED AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TOOL LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD A DIAGNOSTIC RSN AND GOT CODE 2104 & 2112 MEANING THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. *TR
TAKATA INFLATORS I BOUGHT MY FUSION IN 2013 . MAYBE ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF LATER ONE DAY MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON OUT OF THE BLUE. MY CAR WARRENTY AT THE I BELIEVE EXPIRED. I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS CHARGE I BELIEVE $99 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. I MAYBE WRONG I MAY NEED TO FIND THE REPORT FROM BACK IN 2014 BUT I BELIEVE THEY SAID IT WAS A BAG AIR INSTALLED IN ON PASSENGER SIDE AND IT WOULD BE 900 TO FIX. I SAID NO BECAUSE I WAS A STUDENT I COULDN'T AFFORD THAT. I HAVE JUST ACCEPTED THE FACT IT WAS NO GOOD. I THEN SEE THIS RECALL I GOT NOTIFIED ON AND IT GOT ME WONDERING. SO I JUST WANTED TO SEND THIS TO BE NOTED UNDER MY VIN.
REPLACED VEHICLE BATTERY ON 12/30/2013. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON BEFORE THE CAR WAS EVEN REMOVED OFF OF THE AUTO CENTER PREMISES. SERVICE CENTER RAN VEHICLE DIAGNOSTICS CHECK AND REPORTED P2112 ERROR INDICATING AN ISSUE WITH THROTTLE BODY. FORD DEALER SHIP SAID THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WHICH ISN'T CHEAP. FAULTY ELECTRONIC THROTTLES ARE CAUSING THESE PROBLEMS. *TR
DEER STRIKE FONT END TRAVELING ABOUT 40 MPH,, 9 YEAR OLD IN PASSENGER SEAT, AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AS REQUIRED , SHE WAS TOO LIGHT., DAMAGE TO FRONT END BUMPER, HOOD, AND GRILL. UPON REPAIR I NOTICED THAT THE DASH BOARD JUST BELOW THE PASSENGER AIR BAG HAD BEEN BUCKLED AND PULLED AWAY FROM THE AIR BAG COVER.THE BODY SHOP TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO WAY TO REPAIR THIS EXCEPT REPLACE THE ENTIRE DASH BOARD AND THEN THERE WAS NO GUARANTEE THAT IT JUST WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. BODY TECH TOLD ME THAT REPAIR MAY INTERFERE WITH THE OPERATION OF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYING AS WELL AS LEAVING IT ALONE. THIS IS A KNOWN DESIGN ISSUE WITH FORD FUSIONS AND THERE ARE NO SERVICE BULLETINS OR RECALLS. INSURANCE WOULD NOT COVER REPAIR SINCE IT WAS CAUSED BY HEAT ON THE DASH AND THERE WAS NOTHING TO GLUE THE DASH BACK ON. GOOGLE'D THE ISSUE AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON LINE ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. ANYTHING THAT HAS A POTENTIAL OF AIR BAG OPERATION IS A CRITICAL SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED, CAR SEEMED TO CHUG OR LURCH OR ENGINE FELT LIKE IT WAS SLIPPING WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. THAT HAPPENED A NUMBER OF TIME, WAS TOLD IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE SEVERE COLD WEATHER. THE WRENCH LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THEN WHEN I SHUT THE CAR OFF IT WOULD NOT COME BACK ON FOR A FEW DAYS. THE MECHANIC SAID THERE WERE NO REPORTS THAT HE COULD PULL FROM THE COMPUTER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY TO WORK IN THE MORNING MY CAR SUDDENLY DECELERATED FROM 60 TO 30 MPH. IT DID THIS A COUPLE TIMES AND I DROVE RIGHT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY FOUND THAT MY THROTTLE BODY WENT BAD AND I HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR ONE YEAR NEWER CARS, BUT NOT MINE. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THAT IS POSSIBLE. *TR
ON THE MORNING OF THURSDAY NOVEMBER 21ST, 2013 I LOADED MY KIDS FOR SCHOOL AND PROCEEDED TO EXIT MY GARAGE AND TURN MY DEFROST ON WHEN NOT A MIN LATER MY REAR WINDOW POPPED AND SHATTERED. I CALLED FORD AND REPORTED THE INCIDENT AND WAS ADVISED THAT WAS NOT A SAFETY CONCERN AND THAT IT WOULD NOT BE REPAIRED. MY CHILDREN SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED BY THE CLASS BUT NOT FOR THE TINT THAT HELD IT IN PLACE... *TR
THIS MAY BE A HUGE COINCIDENCE BUT IMMEDIATELY AFTER BEING SIDESWIPED WITH ONLY PASSENGER SIDE VIEW MIRROR DAMAGED, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WOULD NO LONGER OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. WE THOUGHT IT WAS RELATED TO THE IMPACT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BUT THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH FORD FUSIONS. WE HAVE TO KEEP THE MOTOR RUNNING, LOWER THE WINDOW AND REACH OUT TO THE EXTERIOR DRIVER DOOR HANDLE TO OPEN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THIS SHOULD BE A FORD RECALL ITEM. FOR AWHILE THE AIRBAG LIGHT WILL INTERMITTENTLY STAY ON WHILE DRIVING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE WRENCH WARNING INDICATOR. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES, THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED AND RESUMED NORMALLY UNTIL THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. A REDESIGNED THROTTLE BODY WAS INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,957. UPDATED 12/23/13*LJ
ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC AND THE TECH'S FROM A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP THE PROBLEM STEMS FROM A FAULTY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WHICH IS CONTROLLED BY THE ONBOARD COMPUTER SYSTEM (ENGINE CONTROL MODULE). THE FAULT PROMPTS THE CAR TO GO INTO A "LIMP HOME" MODE OR REDUCED POWER MODE WHICH IN TURN CAUSES THE CAR TO ACT AS THOUGH IT'S RUNNING OUT OF GAS. FROM A DRIVING PERSPECTIVE, IT HAS PUT ME IN A FEW PRECARIOUS TRAFFIC SITUATIONS. *TR
FOR THE PAST MONTH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS APPEARED AND STAYED ON FOR A BRIEF TIME. NOW IT STAYS ON . I HAVE HAD A DIAGNOSTIC TEST DONE AND THE RESULTS WERE P2112, P0721 AND P2104. THERE APPEAR TO BE A BAD APP SENSOR, THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM-FORCED IDLE, STUCK CLOSED AND FAILED ECM. IF THIS IS INCLUDED IN ANY RECALL, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP. THIS IS THE ONLY VEHICLE I HAVE AND MY LIVELY-HOOD DEPENDS ON IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE HEEL OF THE CONTACT'S SHOE BECAME STUCK IN THE FLOORMAT AND INTERFERED WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED THE VEHICLE INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR PADS CHANGED STILL DOING SAME THING
2009 FORD FUSION BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING 65MPH AND ABRUPTLY APPLYING BRAKES FOR A SECOND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I TRIED TO PUMP THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN APPLY A LOT OF PRESSURE TO THE PEDAL TO GET THE CAR TO BRAKE. THE PEDAL WAS ON THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKING DISTANCE WAS INCREASE DRAMATICALLY. I AVOID AN ACCIDENT BY CHANGING LANES SINCE MY BRAKES HAD FAILED PROPER OPERATION. I GOT OFF THE NEXT EXIT AND IN A PARKING LOT HAD A HARD TIME STOPPING AND THE PEDAL WAS SPONGY AND ON THE FLOOR. I JABBED THE BRAKES AGAIN REPEATEDLY AND IT PEDAL RETURN SOMEWHAT AND MY BRAKING DISTANCE HAD RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE PEDAL WAS STILL SPONGY AND HAD INCREASE TRAVEL BEFORE INGAGEMENT. AFTER THE REPAIRS THE PEDAL STILL HAD TRAVEL BEFORE ENGAGEMENT BUT WAS NO LONGER SPONGY. THE BOTTOM OF THE PEDAL CAN BE FELT IF PRESSED HARD, CONCERNING BUT THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS SAFE...

THE RUBBER COMPOUND ON CONTINENTAL TIRES 225/50R17 IS SEPARATING FROM TREAD, CAUSING A RUMBLE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AFTER ONLY 23,000 MILES, AND TREAD WEAR IS, ACCORDING TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, DOWN TO HALF LIFE ON AN 80,000 MILE EXPECTED TIRE LIFE. CONTINENTAL WAS CONTACTED AND REFUSED, WITHOUT EVEN INSPECTING THE TIRES, TO REPLACE THEM OR HONOR THE GUARANTEE. *TR
AFTER HITTING A ROUGH AREA ON THE ROAD, MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. IT NEVER CORRECTED ITSELF. THAT WAS A FEW YEARS AGO AND THE PEDAL STILL GOES TO THE FLOOR EVERY TIME I PRESS THE BRAKES. ALSO, THE DASH WHERE THE AIR BAG IS, IS SEVERELY BUBBLED.
I JUST PARKED THE CAR, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, AND WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE DRIVER DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. ALL OF THE OTHER DOORS WORKED FINE. I NOW HAVE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS, PUT THE WINDOW DOWN, AND REACH THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE TO OPEN THE DRIVER DOOR. IT IS DIFFICULT FOR SOMEONE WITH ARTHRITIS. THIS IS ALSO A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
VEHICLE SHIFTS VERY IRREGULARLY- SEEMS TO GO IN AND OUT OF GEAR AND WHEN STEPPING ON GAS PEDAL IT DOES NOT RESPOND THEN JERKS INTO DRIVE GEAR. TWO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON IN DASH, SMALL WRENCH AND CHECK ENGINE. AN OBD CODE READER WAS USED TO DETERMINE A FAULT CODE OF PO 772 ( SHIFT SOLENOID STUCK ON) AND CAR WAS TAKEN INTO A FORD DEALER. INITIALLY TOLD THAT WARRANT HAD EXPIRED BUT ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY IS FOR 5 YEARS / 50,000 MILES. DEALER INSPECTED AND FOUND SOLENOID DEFECTIVE AND TRANSMISSION BANDS DAMAGED. CAR IS BE AT DEALER SINCE JUNE 4, 2013 AS OF TODAY'S DATE (06-08-13) UPON INVESTIGATING THIS PROBLEM I FOUND HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS BY FORD FUSION OWNERS AND THUS FAR NO RECALL BY FORD. THIS PROBLEM COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHICH COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR EVEN DEATH IF OCCURRING ON THE FREEWAY. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THE FUSION FOR REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT MANUAL RECLINING MECHANISM BOLT FRACTURED, CAUSING THE SEAT TO MOVE BACK AND FORTH INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BOLT THAT HOLD THE RECLINING SEAT MECHANISM WAS FAULTY AND AS A RESULT, THE SEAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
I STOPPED FOR GAS AND COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR AT ALL FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE ...IS A SAFETY TRAP IM SCARE IF SOMETHING HAPPENS IM IN TROUBLE. *TR
3 ISSUES: I SAW SOMEONE ELSE POST THIS- MY BREAK PEDAL IS ALSO SOFT AND GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR AFTER ANTILOCK BREAKS ARE ENGAGED (LIKE ON ICY OR WET ROADS). THERE IS NO OTHER TIME THIS OCCURS- AS IT'S THE BREAKS, I'VE BEEN VERY MINDFUL OF IT. I HAVE ALSO HAD THE BREAKS REPLACES SO I DON'T THINK IT'S ACTUALLY THE BREAKS BUT RATHER SOMEWHERE WITHIN THE BREAKING MECHANICS. SECOND, ONLY WHEN TURNING LEFT, I GET A "CLUNK" SOUND AT ABOUT 1/4 OF THE WAY THRU THE TURN. I THOUGHT THE SOUND WAS COMING FROM REAR LEFT AXLE AREA- BUT I HONESTLY CANNOT ISOLATE ITS ORIGIN. THE THIRD IS MY MOST HATED: THE REAR OF THE DRIVERS SEAT IS BREAKING DOWN- ALMOST AS THOUGH THERE'S A FRAMEWORK OF SOLDERED METAL INSIDE IN THE CORE OF THE SEAT AND THE SOLDERING IS SNAPPING APART. ONE OF THESE DAYS I'M GOING TO FALL BACK WHEN THE REAR BACKREST COMPLETELY BREAKS. I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS- I HAVE NEVER HAD TO BUY A REPLACEMENT SEAT BEFORE AND I'VE OWNED FORD/MERCURY PRODUCTS FOR 35 YEARS.
BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT TRUNK STRUT OR TRUNK LID LIFT SUPPORT HAVE FAILED TO SUPPORT TRUNK LID. TRUNK LID DOES NOT REMAIN OPEN EVEN WHEN OPENED COMPLETELY. HAS CAUSED INJURY BY TRUNK LID FALLING AND STRIKING MY HEAD AND NECK. NO PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL TREATMENT REQUIRED AT THIS TIME. *TR
