I HAD STOPPED AT A CONVENIENCE STORE AND WHEN I TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR THE DOOR HANDLE WOULDN'T UNLOCK. I HAD TO CLIMB OUT THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE. I COULD OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THE HANDLE HAS BROKEN. THE FIRST TIME WAS WITHIN THE 1ST YEAR I PURCHASED THE CAR. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER TO LOOK AT. SEEMS THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. *TR
WENT TO WORK MONDAY, MARCH 11TH, AND WHEN I GOT TO WORK MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE SO I HAD TO ROLL DOWN WINDOW AND OPEN FROM OUTSIDE. IT WILL NOT LOCK EITHER. *TR
AFTER MAKING A RIGHT TURN AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED FOR THE FIRST TIME AND THE VEHICLE APPEARED TO STALL AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. THANKFULLY, IT'S A SATURDAY MORNING AND TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT AND I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER PULLING OVER AND PUTTING THIS INFORMATION IN A SEARCH ENGINE I FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THIS HAPPENING TO OTHER FORD OWNERS. SOME WERE ON THE HIGHWAY AND SOME IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE LIGHT EVENTUALLY GOES OFF, SO OF COURSE THE OWNER ASSUMES THERE IS NO PROBLEM. THE REPAIR COST IS EXPENSIVE AND THIS IS AN OBVIOUS PROBLEM FORD KNOWS ABOUT AND IS REFUSING TO FIX IT. I SENT MY WIFE TO A FIRESTONE STORE TO GET A SET OF ALL SEASON TIRES. WHAT WAS SOLD TO HER IS NOT EFFECTIVE IN ADVERSE WEATHER AND I BELIEVE THAT FIRESTONE BRIDGESTONE IS FALSELY MARKETING A PERFORMANCE TIRE AS ALL SEASON. THE TIRE IS A POTENT RE970 POLE POSITION AS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, HE HEARD A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 69,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I'M GETTING A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND A WRENCH SYMBOL ON MY DASHBOARD. WHEN I TAKE IT TO GET CHECKED, IT SAYS 'FAULTY THROTTLE BODY' OR THROTTLE CONTROL ACTUATOR. THIS CAUSES MY FORD FUSION TO GO INTO 'LIMP HOME' MODE. THIS IS A MODE THAT CAUSES THAT CAR TO ACCELERATE NO MORE THAN 20 MILES AN HOUR. THE PROBLEM WITH THIS IS THAT IT HAPPENS WHEN I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF 55-70 MILES AN HOUR. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I FEAR FOR MY LIFE. WHEN I CONTACT AUTO CARE CENTERS, THEY ALL TELL ME THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAS TO BE HANDLED BY THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN I CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. I THINK THAT THIS THROTTLE BODY IS DEFECTIVE AND AFTER SOME ONLINE RESEARCH, I SEE THAT I'M ONE OF MANY FORD OWNERS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. I WOULD LIKE A THEM RECALL THIS DEFECTIVE AUTO PART. THIS VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING IN THE RIGHT LANE WHEN IT WAS RUN OFF THE INTERSTATE AT 75-80 MPH, IT WENT OFF THE RIGHT SHOULDER, CAME BACK INTO THE RIGHT LANE, WENT INTO A SPIN, WENT OFF THE ROADWAY AT THE LEFT SHOULDER AND ROLLED OVER 1-2 TIMES IN THE MEDIAN BEFORE STRIKING THE INTERSTATE DIVIDING CABLE WHICH PREVENTED THE VEHICLE FROM ENTERING THE ONCOMING LANES OF TRAVEL. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER WERE BUCKLED IN, AND THERE WERE TWO DOGS AS PASSENGERS. ONE OF THE DOGS WAS EJECTED. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED!!!! *TR
WHEN DRIVING AT A NORMAL SPEED, THE IDLE OF THE CAR QUICKLY DROPS AND YOU ARE UNABLE TO MAINTAIN YOUR SPEED. YOU IMMEDIATELY ARE FORCED TO STOP THE CAR, TURN IT OFF AND LET IT SIT TO RESET IT'S SELF WHERE EVER ON THE ROAD YOU ARE. THIS HAS HAPPEN RANDOMLY LAST FEW WEEKS. JUST A FEW DAYS AGO IT GOT INCREASINGLY WORSE. WAS ENTERING HIGHWAY OFF AN EXIT TRYING TO MERGE. WAS UNABLE TO GET THE SPEED BECAUSE THE IDLE DROPPED. LUCKILY HAD JUST ENOUGH TIME TO GET TO SHOULDER TO SIT AND WAIT. HAD IT BEEN FEW SECONDS LONGER WOULD OF MERGED WITH HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND THEN CAR WOULD OF CAME TO A QUICK HALT. THE DIAGNOSIS TO THIS PROBLEM THE THROTTLE BODY WENT BAD. *TR
I HAD A HISTORY OF RECURRING PROBLEMS WITH MY 2009 FUSION. THE BATTERY DIED OVER AND OVER AGAIN, CAUSING ME TO FINALLY REPLACE IT. THE CAR CONSTANTLY THREW ERRORS REGARDING LOW TIRE PRESSURE. BUT THE LARGEST PROBLEM HAPPENED WHEN WE WERE DRIVING DOWN A TWO-LANE HIGHWAY AT ROUGHLY 55 MPH AND THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY BECAME UNRESPONSIVE AND LOCKED, CAUSING US TO HIT FIRST THE CONCRETE DIVIDER ON ONE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND RICOCHET ACROSS AND HIT THE METAL SAFETY RAIL ON THE OTHER SIDE. THE CAR WAS UNRESPONSIVE TO BRAKING. THE CAR HIT HEAD-ON BOTH TIMES AND WAS COMPLETELY TOTALED. I REMEMBER FRANTICALLY TRYING TO OPEN THE DOORS BECAUSE I WAS SURE WAS ABOUT TO EXPLODE. THIS IS AN INCREDIBLY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE FOR ME BECAUSE THERE WAS LITERALLY NOTHING WE COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT IT. WE WEREN'T SPEEDING. THERE WAS NO INCLEMENT WEATHER. NO ONE WAS DISTRACTED BY THEIR PHONE OR THE RADIO. NO ONE FELL ASLEEP. A DRIVER BEHIND US WHO STOPPED DESCRIBED HOW THE CAR JUST SUDDENLY VEERED OUT OF CONTROL. IT IS DIFFICULT TO DESCRIBE THE TERROR YOU FEEL WHEN YOU ARE BEHIND THE WHEEL OF A CAR THAT HAS COMPLETELY STOPPED RESPONDING TO ANYTHING YOU DO. IT IS SCARY TO THINK HOW EASILY WE COULD HAVE CRASHED THROUGH THE METAL GUARDRAIL AND FALLEN TO OUR DEATHS, YET THERE ISN'T EVEN A RECALL IN EFFECT. I AM SO EXTREMELY LUCKY THAT NO OTHER CAR WAS INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT, BUT THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. *TR

TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON MY 2009 FORD FUSION IN 2012.. I HAVE RECEIVED 2 MORE NOTICES SINCE THEN. I HAVE CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP ON A REGULAR BASIS AND AM TOLD EACH TIME THAT THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED PARTS FOR THE RECALL YET AND DO NOT KNOW WHEN THEY WILL RECEIVE THEM.
FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR INTERIOR RELEASE FAILED. DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED OR LOCKED FROM THE INSIDE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AT 70 MPH WHEN THE WRENCH LIGHT TURNS ON THE DANS AND THE ENGINE JUST QUIT. VERY SCARY SO I PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND COASTED TO THE MEDIAN . I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR AND THE THEFT LOCK LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND THE CAR WOULDN'T EVEN CRANK THE MOTOR. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A LOCAL SHOP IT STARTED RIGHT UP AT THE SHOP AND THERE WERE NO CODES IN THE COMPUTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND THE MESSAGE CENTER SAYA POD DATA ERROR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, HE ATTEMPTED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CROSSED OVER THE HIGHWAY, CRASHING INTO A MOUNTAIN SIDE. WHEN THE AUTHORITIES ARRIVED, THE STEERING WHEEL REMAINED SEIZED. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 87,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED WAS ENTERING A PARKING SPACE AT 10 MPH WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED BUT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A RAIL AND THE VHEICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A AUTO BODY REPAIR SHOP. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIEDOF THE ISSUE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
AFTER PARKING MY CAR I PULLED MY DOOR HANDLE TO GET OUT OF MY CAR, WHEN MY DOOR HANDLE BROKE. THE PLASTIC IS POOR QUALITY AND SNAPPED LEAVING MY HANDLE NEARLY HANGING BY A FEW PIECES. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM EVEN SO AS MUCH THAT WHEN CALLING FORD TO GET IT REPAIRED THEY LAUGHED AT ME CITING IT HAS HAPPENED WITH MANY OTHER PEOPLE. SEEING AS THERE ARE SEVERAL OCCURRENCES OF AN UNANTICIPATED PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE I WOULD LIKE TO RECOMMEND THAT THIS BECOME A TSB. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY THE REAR BRAKES SEIZED. WHEN I PARKED THE CAR THE REAR BRAKES WERE OMITTING A FOUL ODOR AND THE REAR WHEEL RIMS WERE SCALDING HOT TO THE TOUCH. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THE SPRINGS IN THE CALIPER STUCK REQUIRING NEW BRAKE PADS, THE DISCS TO BE MACHINED AND A LUBRICATION OF ALL INTERNAL COMPONENTS. THE DEALERSHIP STATED IT IS A MAINTENANCE ISSUE DESPITE BEING SOLELY MAINTAINED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND THERE IS NO NOTICE IN THE OWNERS MANUAL OR SERVICE AS TO LUBRICATING THE INTERNAL BRAKE COMPONENTS. *JS

THE FAILURE REOCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 2 MONTHS LATER AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKING CLIP FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT IN FRESNO, CA. ANOTHER VEHICLE HIT ME FROM BEHIND AT A UNSAFE SPEED. HIS VEHICLE PUSHED ME ACROSS INTERSECTION. BUT THE SEAT BELT DID NOT TIGHTEN OR HOLD MYSELF OR MY DAUGHTER BACK. I HIT THE WINDSHIELD OR PANEL I BELIEVE AND CUT MY EYELID, RESULTING IN 8 STITCHES AND AN ORBITAL FRACTURE. MY DAUGHTER WAS IN THE PASSENGER SIDE SHE BENT OVER AND HER LEGS BUCKLED UNDER SEAT. I JUST FEEL THAT THE SEATBELT SHOULD OF RESTRAINED US. *TR
BOTH FRONT AND REAR INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES HAVE FAILED. I AM UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WITHOUT LOWERING THE WINDOW AND OPENING FROM EXTERIOR. THERE IS NO VISIBLE EVIDENCE THEY HAVE FAILED, THEY HAVE JUST STOPPED WORKING. YOU CAN CONVINCE THE REAR TO WORK IF YOU PULL THE HANDLE AND LOCK THE SAME TIME. IF I WERE TO BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, AND THE POWER FAILED, I WOULD BE UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AT ALL. THIS VEHICLE IS 3 YEARS OLD WITH 47,000 MILES AND IS NOW A POTENTIAL DEATH TRAP. THE DEALER SAYS IT IS NOT COVERED, AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. I AM CONSIDERING LEGAL ACTION, ANY VEHICLE THAT IS INESCAPABLE SHOULDN'T BE ON THE HIGHWAYS. WORST OF ALL, A QUICK SEARCH SHOWS THIS TO BE AN ABUNDANT PROBLEM WITH FUSIONS FROM 2006 ON. THERE ARE NUMEROUS BLOG ON THIS SUBJECT ALONE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP, WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE RIMS AND BOTH TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 19,000.

ABS ACTIVATES DURING BRAKING OVER ROUGH SURFACES CAUSING BRAKE PEDAL TO FEEL SPONGY AND SOFT AFTERWARDS. DIMINISHED BRAKE PERFORMANCE AFTER ACTIVATION OF ABS CAUSING INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE. BLEEDING OF LINES AND ABS UNIT SEEMS TO IMPROVE BRAKE PERFORMANCE SLIGHTLY, BUT NEVER TO 100% I AM AN AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN WITH OVER 15YRS EXPERIENCE, AND THIS IS MY PERSONAL VEHICLE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2011.
DRIVER INNER DOOR HANDLE WAS NOT RETURNING; DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK WITH REMOTE. BROKEN DRIVER DOOR HANDLE, SAME DESIGN AS FORD 150 TRUCKS, WHICH ALSO BREAK.
I WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON I-495 OUTSIDE OF BOSTON ON CLEAN PAVEMENT ON A HOT, SUNNY DAY WHEN MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT. I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING. THE TIRE WAS DESTROYED, AND I HAD TO REPLACE IT. THE TIRE HAD 16,300 MILES AND GOOD TREAD. *KB
THERE'S WAS A FIRE THAT STARTED ON ELECTRICAL WIRING LEADING TO MY RIGHT FRONT WHEEL ON MY 2009 FORD FUSION SE V6 I THINK IT WAS CAUSE BY THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM THAT FORD HAS BEEN HAVING PROBLEM WITH I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE FIRE HAPPEN THE MINNEAPOLIS FIRE DEPT TOLD ME TO HAVE IT INSPECTED AT A FORD DEALERSHIP. *TR
BROUGHT MY 2009 FORD FUSION NEW IN 2009. PROBLEMS STARTED A FEW YEARS AFTER I BROUGHT IT. WHEN DRIVING MY CAR, IF I HIT A POTHOLE, DRIVING IN THE RAIN OR WHEN THE ROADS ARE WET, I HAVE TO COME TO A STOP, MY BRAKES SEEM TO FAIL. I AM LITERALLY PUSHING MY BRAKES ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR, BUT THE CAR DOES NOT COME TO A STOP. THIS HAPPENS FOR, IT SEEMS LIKE MINUETS, BUT PROBABLY ONLY SECONDS, BUT WHILE HAPPENING I FEEL THE BRAKES START TO VIBRATE, THEN EVENTUALLY COMES TO A STOP. THERE HAVE BEEN TWO INSTANCES WHERE I CAME WITHIN INCHES OF HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR AND WILL ONLY DRIVE IT SHORT DISTANCES AROUND WHERE I LIVE FOR FEAR OF HAVING MY BRAKES FAILING. I FEAR THAT I WILL INJURE MYSELF OR SOME ONE ELSE. OR WORSE, THERE WILL BE A FATALITY INVOLVING MY CAR. DURING MY ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, I HAVE THEM LOOK AT MY BRAKES AND EVERY SERVICE PERSON SAYS THAT MY BRAKES ARE FINE. I EVEN HAD MY FRONT AND REAR BRAKE JOB DONE IN 2014. WITHIN A FEW MONTHS OF HAVING THE JOB DONE IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT HAS HAPPENED ONLY ONCE SINCE THEN, BUT AGAIN I DRIVE IT SHORT DISTANCES AT LOWER SPEEDS AROUND MY NEIGHBORHOOD ONLY NOW. WHEN I LOOK THIS UP I SEE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING AND DESCRIBING THAT THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING TO THEIR CARS. SAME YEAR/MODEL. IT LOOKS IT HAS TO DO WITH THE ABS BRAKE ISSUE AND FORD IS AWARE OF IT AND NO RECALL HAS HAPPENED AS OF YET!!! THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NEED ATTENTION NOW!

ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING AT FULL THROTTLE, SHE WAS ABLE TO REDUCE THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE AND CAME TO A STOP. AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN THE PARK POSITION, THE ENGINE SOUNDED AS THOUGH IT WAS STILL RACING AND SHE CONTINUED TO APPLY THE BRAKE. ONLY AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE, DID THE ENGINE STOP. AFTER LETTING THE VEHICLE COOL OFF, BECAUSE THE FRONT END WAS HOT AND THE REAR END SMELLED LIKE HOT BRAKES AND BURNED RUBBER, THE GAS PEDAL WAS STILL STUCK TO THE FLOOR AND THERE WAS NO INTERFERENCE FROM THE FLOOR MAT.
