DRIVING ON A SURFACE STREET AT APPROX 10-15 MPH AND THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT. "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" MESSAGE ON DASH BOARD. PULLED CAR OVER TO SIDE AND SHUT OFF ENGINE. RESTARTED AND ISSUE WENT AWAY. THIS HAPPENED 5-6 TIMES IN THE FOLLOWING 9 MONTHS. THEN ON AUG 6 (WARRANTY EXPIRED), POWER STEERING WOULD NOT WORK AND MESSAGE WOULD NOT GO AWAY, EVEN AFTER RESTART. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS CHARGED $1827.88 TO FIX. (PART INSTALLED - AE5Z 3504 CE: GEAR ASSY - STEERING). *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND ABOUT TO EXIT OFF OF THE INTERSTATE WHEN MY POWER STEERING LOCKED UP. I WAS ABLE TO PULL MY STEERING WHEEL ENOUGH TO GET OFF OF THE INTERSTATE AND ONTO THE SHOULDER BUT COULD NOT TURN MY STEERING BACK AND FORTH. I TURNED MY CAR OFF AND WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON I WAS ABLE TO MOVE MY STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR SINCE IT WAS BRAND NEW AND I HAVE SERVICED IT ON A REGULAR BASIS. THE CAR IS A 2011 WITH ONLY 50,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR SAFELY TO THE SHOULDER BUT COULD HAVE ENDED HAD A VERY BAD ACCIDENT. I AM NOW FEARFUL TO DRIVE THE CAR. *TR
"WRENCH" LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR LOST ALL POWER OVER 60 MPH. RESTARTED VEHICLE UNDERWAY AND STILL HAD NO POWER. HAD TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ON A VERY DANGEROUS HIGHWAY ON AN EXTREMELY FOGGY MORNING. RESTARTED AND CAR IDLED EXTREMELY ROUGH AND AGAIN HAD NO ACCELERATION. A FEW MINUTES LATER THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AND CONTINUED ON AS NORMAL. EXACT SAME INCIDENT HAPPENED LATER THAT DAY ON THE WAY HOME. VEHICLE DID NOT WANT TO START. AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF SITTING, WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE ON AS NORMAL. HAVE NOT DROVE THE CAR SINCE THE INCIDENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY CABLE ASSEMBLY WAS BURNED, CAUSING FIVE FUSES TO MALFUNCTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. I WAS AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. IT DID NOT GO DEAD BUT WOULD MOVE ONLY AT A VERY VERY SLOW SPEED, AND THE ENGINE SHUDDERED AND RAN ROUGHLY. THE WRENCH INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. I GOT THE CAR ACROSS THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC TO THE SHOULDER, TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED WITH NO FURTHER TROUBLE. DROVE HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 45 MPH THE CAR CHIMED AND POSTED A WARNING ON THE DISPLAY. IT TOLD ME TO CHECK THE POWER STEERING. THE POWER STEERING WAS STILL WORKING SO I CONTINUED DRIVING. ONCE I CAME UPON A STOP LIGHT I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF TO TRY AND CLEAR THE CODE. WHEN I TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON IT CHIMED AGAIN AND THEN POSTED A SERVICE STEERING NOW WARNING. I PROCEEDED FROM THE TRAFFIC LIGHT AND MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN ONTO ANOTHER ROAD. THE POWER STEERING WAS GONE AND THE VEHICLE WAS VERY HARD TO TURN. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIM THE PROBLEM IS A STEERING GEAR AND WILL COST $1700 TO REPLACE IT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT ALL TIMES, THE VEHICLE WOULD START TO SURGE AND BUCK THEN LOOSE POWER. IT NEVER COMPLETELY DIED BUT WHEN I PULLED OVER IT RAN TERRIBLE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I TURNED IT OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS AND RESTARTED IT. IT WOULD RUN FOR A WHILE, GOOD, THEN THE PROBLEM WOULD REOCCUR. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I HAD THE CODE CHECKED. THE RESULT WAS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY OR SORT IN THE THROTTLE BODY MODULE. *TR
WAS TRAVELING 45 MPH WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND STALLED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRIC RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
TRAVELING AT A STEADY SPEED AND THE ENGINE CUT OUT. NOT COMPLETELY BUT HAD NO ACCELERATION CONTROL. HAVE READ ON-LINE THAT THIS IS CALLED "LIMP" MODE. WAS ABLE TO PULL SAFELY OFF THE ROAD AND THEN RESTARTED THE CAR AFTER WHICH THE VEHICLE OPERATED OK. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK. TOOK CAR TO DEALER WHO REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AT NO CHARGE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. ALTHOUGH I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT OR INJURY, I COULD SEE THIS BEING A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR A DRIVER ON THE EXPRESSWAY OR PULLING IN TO HEAVY TRAFFIC. *TR
WHEN DRIVING THE CAR,IT WANTS TO COME TO A STOP,AND IT GOES INTO NEUTRAL. IT JERKS YOU BAD. IT DOESN'T MATTER THE SPEED. I COULD BE GOING 25MPH OR 55MPH OR 70MPH. ITS A HAZARD TO BE DRIVING. TOOK IT BACK ABOUT 2WEEKS AT FORD DEALER THEY SAID COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. HAD WARRANTY AT THAT TIME.I CALL TOLD THEM I DIDN'T WANT THE CAR ANYMORE BUT THEY WOULDN'T HELP ME. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR ALMOST A YEAR AND HAVE TROUBLE WITH IT ALL THE TIME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE AND ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR FAILED AND IDLED AT .58V WHEN IT SHOULD BE AT .75V. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE THROTTLE BODY WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,881.
MY WIFE HAD MY 6 MONTH OLD SIGN IN THE BACKSEAT WHEN SHE WAS PULLING OUT FROM A STOP SIGN INTO A 4WAY WHEN THE CAR LURCHED AND THE ACCELERATOR QUIT RESPONDING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET A TRUCK NEARLY T BONED HER ON THE DRIVER SIDE WHERE OUR SON WAS IN HIS CAR SEAT UPON DIAGNOSTICS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WAS STUCK OPEN. I'VE FOUND SIMILAR ISSUES WITH SIMILAR VEHICLES ALTHOUGH THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME MY VEHICLE IS NOT CURRENTLY ON A RECALL LIST. *TR
WAS DRIVING AT APROX. 45 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY UNABLE TO ACCELERATE CAR. CAR DID NOT SHUT OFF. YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON DASH. DRIFTED UNTIL ABLE TO STOP VEHICLE. SHUT OFF CAR AND UNABLE TO START. TRIED 2ND TIME AND CAR RESTARTED. A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH ENDED UP WITH A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF VEHICLES EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. CALLED FORD GARAGE AND EXPECTING TOW TRUCK TO ARRIVE SHORTLY. UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THIS IS A KNOWN AND ON GOING PROBLEM. FORD DOES HAVE A SPECIAL SERVICE MESSAGE OUT FOR THE KNOWN PROBLEM. IT IS AS BAD AS THE TOYOTA RUN AWAY CARS. RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. *TR
THIS ISSUE IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN!! I HAVE SEEN MANY STATEMENTS ONLINE ABOUT THE THROTTLE BODY ISSUE AND THEIR SHOULD BE A RECALL!! I PERSONALLY HAVE HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TWICE WITHIN A 2 WEEK PERIOD BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. EVERY TIME MY CAR BROKE DOWN IT WAS THE SAME THING. I WAS GOING ALONG FINE AND THEN THE CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN DIES, CHUGS, I DRIFT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SO I DON'T GET HIT AND THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WITH THE WRENCH TOOL! HOW SCARY AND UNSAFE! I AM JUST SO GLAD I WASN'T IN AN INTERSECTION OR HIT BY ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE MY FORD FUSION DECIDED TO DIE OUT OF NO WHERE! I HAVE HAD TO GO THROUGH TWO TOWS, DAYS OF WAITING FOR MY CAR TO GET FIXED AND MY WARRANTY DECIDING THEY AREN'T GOING TO COVER MY COST!! UNBELIEVABLE!!! FORD NEEDS TO TAKE SOME ACTION NOW! WAS EXITING HIGHWAY AND DEPRESSED THE BRAKE. CAR PULLED TO THE LEFT AND POWER STEERING WENT OUT. ADVANCE TRAC FAILURE MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON INDICATOR PANEL. PULLED OFF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF ENGINE, THEN RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. ALL SYSTEMS STARTED NORMALLY. TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD DEALER FOR SERVICE ON NOVEMBER 1ST, 2013. THEY CHECKED BRAKES AND INDICATED ALL WAS FINE. ALSO INDICATED NO ERROR MESSAGE WAS IN MEMORY OF THE SERVICE MODULE. AS HISTORY, CAR HAS ALWAYS HAD ISSUES WITH PULLING WHEN BRAKING (AND SOMETIMES WHEN ACCELERATING). TYPICALLY PULLS TO THE LEFT, BUT SOMETIMES TO THE RIGHT. NEVER HAD IT THOROUGHLY CHECKED UNTIL THIS VISIT AS SYMPTOM IS NOT CONSISTENT. PULLING IS STILL OCCURRING SPORADICALLY AS OF THIS DATE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR SEEMED TO START SHUTTING DOWN. I LOST SPEED AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE EVEN THOUGHT I WAS PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE WHOLE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE AND VIBRATE VIOLENTLY MAKING A SPUTTERING NOISE. I WAS ABLE TO BRAKE, SLOW DOWN AND STOP TO PULL OFF ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP SHUDDERING UNTIL I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. I WAITED 10 SECONDS, TURNED THE ENGINE BACK ON AND THE CAR DROVE NORMALLY AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED TWICE MORE, ONE AT 30 MPH AND ONE AT 60 MPH AGAIN ON THE HIGHWAY. THEN WE TOOK IT TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE CAR JERKED AND THE WRENCH LITE CAME ON. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE ACCELERATOR AND WOULD ONLY COAST. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE ON A HILL AND WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO A PARKING LOT. I STOPPED THE CAR, PUT IT INTO PARK, AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. I TRIED TO RESTART IT, AND AFTER A LONG CRANK THE ENGINE STARTED, THE WRENCH LITE WAS OFF, AND THE CAR AND ACCELERATOR RESPONDED NORMALLY. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. MY HUSBAND THEN TEST DROVE THE CAR AND HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALSO HAD TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT. HE DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER AND DROPPED IT OFF FOR REPAIR. THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A MALFUNCTIONING THROTTLE BODY. RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET SHOWED THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO ALOT OF FORD FUSION OWNERS AND WE FOLLOWED LINK TO THIS WEBSITE TO REPORT THE PROBLEM. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A BUSY STREET, GOING APPROXIMATELY 45-50 MPH, MY VEHICLE JUST STALLED OUT ON ME. ALTHOUGH THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING, MY VEHICLE FELT LIKE IT WAS DRIFTING. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, NOTHING HAPPENED. WHEN I APPLIED MY BRAKES, MY VEHICLE THEN JUMPED FORWARD, CAUSING ME TO ALMOST HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE CLOSEST FORD DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT MY THROTTLE BODY HAD GONE BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. COME TO FIND OUT, THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY AND WILL COST ME OVER $500 OUT OF POCKET. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 41,000 MILES ON IT! *TR
WHEN STARTING MY CAR THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING WAS DISPLAYED. WHEN I SHUT THE CAR BACK OFF AND RESTARTED IT THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 3 TIMES IN ABOUT 3000 MILES. ABOUT THE FOURTH TIME THIS HAPPENED, SHUTTING IT OFF DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. SERVICE ADVANCETRAC WAS NOW ALSO DISPLAYED. THE CAR HAS NO POWER STEERING OR ADVANCETRAC AT THIS TIME. THE CODES THAT WERE STORED IN THE COMPUTER WERE FOR THE PINION SENSOR FAILURE. THIS SENSOR IS USED BY BOTH SYSTEMS AND IS NOT REPLACEABLE BY ITSELF. THE ENTIRE RACK AND PINION NEEDS TO BE CHANGED. THE QUOTE FROM MY DEALER WAS ABOUT $1400. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT HAD TO USE EXTREME FORCE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE RESTARTED IN ORDER TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING GEARS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
TURNING LEFT AT STOP LIGHT AND VEHICLE LOST POWER AND MAINTENANCE LIGHT CAME ON. COASTED AT 10 MPH THROUGH LIGHT INTO A PARKING LOT. CAR WAS STILL RUNNING BUT THROTTLE DID NOTHING. TURNED IGNITION OFF AND ON WHILE THE CAR WAS HALF IN THE PARKING LOT AND HALF IN THE ROAD. RESTARTED WITH SAME RESULTS. AFTER THE THIRD RESTART MAINTENANCE LIGHT WENT OFF AND CAR HAD POWER AGAIN. DROVE HOME AND CHECKED FOR CODES. P2112 THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM - STUCK CLOSED WAS ONLY CODE. *TR
MY CAR LOST COMPLETE POWER WILE TRAVERSING AN INTERSECTION. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY A LARGE TRUCK AS I HAD NO POWER IN MY CAR. TOOL IT TO THE DEALER AND IT IS A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY THAT FORD IS AWARE OF. MECHANIC SAID HE SEES THIS HAPPEN ALL THE TIME. ITS VERY SCARY TO BE DRIVING AND SUDDENLY LOSE ALL POWER AND VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2011 FORD FUSION THROUGH AN INTERSECTION IT CUT OFF SPEED AND THROTTLE CONTROL ABRUPTLY. NO ACCIDENT BUT THIS ISSUE LEFT THE POSSIBILITY FOR ONE TO HAPPEN. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER AFTER SHUTTING IT OFF AND STARTING IT SEVERAL TIMES. LEFT THE CAR OFF FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND IT STARTED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AGAIN. MADE IT TO AN AUTOZONE AND FOUND OUT IT WAS THROWING A CEL OF P2111. FOR THE THROTTLE BODY. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED AND WOULD COST ABOUT 500 DOLLARS. THE SERVICE TECH WAS VERY WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE THAT PERSISTS IN MY MODEL CAR. *TR
WAS DRIVING ON A COUNTY ROAD UP A SLIGHT INCLINE WHEN THE ENGINE RAN VERY ROUGH AND THE CAR ROLLED TO A STOP. TRIED TO RESTART AND HAD THE SAME CONDITION - AS THOUGH THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING ON TWO CYLINDERS. WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND OTHER CARS RAN AROUND ME. A HOMEOWNER CAME TO THE RESCUE AND WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE CAR SLOWLY ROLLING ONTO HIS DRIVEWAY. AFTER SITTING FOR SOME TIME THE ENGINE THEN WORKED AS USUAL AND WE DROVE DIRECTLY TO THE FORD DEALER AND DROPPED THE CAR OFF (IT WAS SAT. A.M.) SO THE SERVICE DEPT. COULD LOOK AT THE CAR MONDAY. WAS CALLED MON. AND TOLD BY SERVICE THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND WOULD COST $640 TO REPAIR. AUTHORIZED THE REPAIR PLUS OIL CHANGE, ETC. MY WIFE HAD PICKED ME UP WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE AND I CHECKED THE INTERNET FOR THIS THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM. THERE WAS A LOT OF INFO ABOUT IT. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM HAS EXISTED FOR YEARS AND I WOULD NOT PAY FOR A PROBLEM FROM THE FACTORY (NOT ORDINARY WEAR AND TEAR) WHICH THEY KNEW ABOUT WHEN THEY SOLD ME THE CAR NEW IN 2010. OFFERED TO PAY HALF THE THROTTLE BODY REPAIR COST AS THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. WAITING FOR THEIR DECISION. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED, WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE THROTTLE BODY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,200.

STARTED TO ACCELERATE FROM INTERSECTION AND TRANSMISSION STALLED WHEN CROSSING HWY WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. SINCE THAT POINT I HAVE NOTICED THAT TRANSMISSION JERKS WHEN DOWN SHIFTING ESPECIALLY AT LOWER SPEEDS. BEGINNING TO FEEL VERY APPREHENSIVE ABOUT SAFETY OF VEHICLE. *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES VARYING FROM ACCELERATING FROM A STOP TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 60+ MPH. 2011 FORD FUSION SEL SUDDENLY LOSES ALL POWER AND WRENCH ICON ILLUMINATES AND NO ACCELERATION HAPPENS AT ALL. THE ENGINE REMAINS AT IDLE WITH FLUCTUATIONS FROM 800-1200 RPMS. HAD TO CROSS MULTIPLE LANES AND WAS ALMOST RAN INTO BY THREE CARS GOING A LOT FASTER THAN ME WHILE I WAS LISTING TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. ONCE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH AND THE ONE TIME IT SHOWED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT I RAN THE CODES AND IT ALL WAS POINTING TO A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. I NOTICED THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS WITH THIS ASPECT ON THIS CAR AND JUST HOPE SOMEONE DOESN'T HAVE TO GET KILLED ON THE ROAD LIKE I ALMOST DID TO GET A RECALL ON THIS CAR AND PART. *TR

VEHICLE STARTED TO HAVE PROBLEMS AROUND 83,000 MILES. MY DAUGHTER WOULD JUST BE DRIVING ALONG AND SUDDENLY THE CAR WOULD JUST STOP ACCELERATING AND GO TO IDLE. SHE WOULD HAVE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. SHE WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND START IT AGAIN AND CLEAR THE PROBLEM. IT WOULD GO A COUPLE OF WEEKS WITHOUT INCIDENT UNTIL ALL OF THE SUDDEN WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. ON MOST OCCASIONS, THE YELLOW "WRENCH" LIGHT WOULD COME ON AS WELL. WE FIRST ASSUMED IT WAS BAD GAS OR THE FUEL PUMP, BUT AFTER RESEARCHING DISCOVERED A LOT OF COMPLAINTS WITH THE EXACT SYMPTOMS THAT POINTED TO A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. I DECIDED TO SUBMIT A COMPLAINT AFTER LAST NIGHT HER CAR ONCE AGAIN STOPPED ACCELERATING ON A BRIDGE WITH A POLICE OFFICER BEHIND HER WHOM PROCEEDED TO PULL HER OVER. FORTUNATELY, THE OFFICER WAS UNDERSTANDING TO THE SITUATION. IT IS VERY UNSETTLING TO HAVE YOUR INEXPERIENCED 17 YEAR DAUGHTER ON THE HIGHWAY WITH A VEHICLE THAT OPERATES IN THIS CAPACITY. FORD HAS BEEN MANUFACTURING CARS FOR HOW MANY YEARS AND THIS IS STILL THE BEST THEY CAN DO? TO BE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH AND YOUR CAR JUST TRANSFER TO IDLE SPEED. RIDICULOUS! *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ALONG A 2 LANE ROUTE, AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE POWER IN THE CAR JUST DIED. THE THROTTLE WOULD NOT PROPEL THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS NO ACCELARATION AVAILABLE AND LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE AWAY FROM CONGESTED TRAFFIC. THE WRENCH LIGHTS WERE FLASHING, THE CAR SPUTTERED WHILE THIS STARTED OR OCCURRED BUT WHEN I PRESSED THE THROTTLE THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND AT ALL AND THE CAR CAME TO A STOP. I ATTEMPTED TO PRESS THE GAS SEVERAL TIMES BUT AGAIN THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND AND WAS DEAD (THE CAR WAS STILL ON JUST IT WOULD NOT MOVE). I THEN TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED A FEW MOMENTS, THEN TRIED TO START IT AGAIN, IT SPUTTERED BUT STARTED ABOUT 20-30 SECONDS INTO MY ATTEMPT. ONCE I STARTED IT, I ENGAGED THE THROTTLE WHILE IN PARK AND IT RESPONDED, I THEN PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND IT DROVE NORMALLY FOR THE REMAINING 10 MINUTES OF MY DRIVE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
DRIVING DOWN A MAJOR HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 75MPH. SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND ENGINE WENT TO IDLE. COASTED UP AN EXIT RAMP AND FORTUNATELY MADE IT TO THE TOP AND WAS ABLE TO COAST DOWN TO A SAFE LOCATIONS TO STOP. IF I HAD NOT MADE IT TO THE CREST OF THE RAMP, THE RAMP WAS SUCH THAT I WAS AROUND A BLIND CORNER WITH NO SHOULDER AND WOULD HAVE VERY LIKELY BEEN HIT IF ANOTHER CAR EXITED. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP AND I AM BEING TOLD IT IS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY WHICH IS OCCURING IN VERY MANY FORD FUSIONS AROUND THE COUNTRY. *JS
WAS DRIVING ON A LOCAL ROAD, SPEED LIMIT WAS 35MPH, I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT THEN IT TURNED GREEN SO I ACCELERATED ON THE GAS AND THEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND AND DID NOT WANT TO GO AND STARTED ACTING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL, SO I PULLED OVER PARKED AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND TURN THE CAR BACK ON AND THE CAR SEEMED FINE AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AGAIN, THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 3 TIMES IN SINCE THEN AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, I AM GOING TO REPLACED IT AND HOPEFULLY IT WILL DO THE TRICK. I HEARD THAT THIS IS ALSO A PROBLEM WITH OTHER FORD CARS AND IS CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR A RECALL, I HOPE THIS LETTER HELPS WITH GETTING A RECALL SUBMITTED.
I WAS DRIVING IN THE FAST LANE AND MY 2011 FUSION WENT INTO "LIMP MODE" BY THE GRACE OF GOD I WAS ABLE TO GET ACROSS THE FREEWAY AND DOWN THE OFF RAMP TO A SAFE PLACE. I WAS UNAWARE OF WHAT "LIMP MODE" WAS AT THE TIME SO I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER AND WITHIN A FEW HOURS I WAS NOTIFIED THAT IT NEEDED A NEW THROTTLE BODY. I HAD JUST GOT MY CAR BACK IT HAD BEEN IN AT THE DEALER GETTING THE ENTIRE AC SYSTEM REPLACED AND NOW THIS. THE WORST PART IS I WAS INFORMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY IS ON BACK ORDER AND IT'LL HOPEFULLY BE IN SOMETIME NEXT MONTH. ALTHOUGH THE DEALERSHIP IS DOING THEIR BEST TO TAKE CARE OF US, MAKING SURE MY RENTAL IS COVERED AND ALL I'M STILL CONCERNED. I HAD MY 2 YEAR OLD WITH ME, THIS COULD HAVE ENDED VERY BAD. WHEN COMING TO A STOP, MY CAR BEGAN TO SEVERELY SHAKE BACK AND FORTH. IT POSED A DANGER RISK FOR MYSELF AND MY KIDS. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN TIME, BECAUSE IT SEEMED THAT MY CAR WAS ABOUT TO CRASH INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT IS A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY.
I WAS DRIVING HOME GOING 45 MPH WHEN MY CAR STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN I TRIED TO GIVE IT GAS, IT STARTED JUMPING AND JERKING THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE INCH BY INCH TO MOVE MY CAR TO THE ADJACENT TURNING LANE, TURN ON MY FLASHERS AND CALL MY HUSBAND ON MY CELL PHONE. HE WAS ON HIS WAY HOME ALSO AND PULLED UP BEHIND ME. HE TRIED TO GIVE IT GAS TOO BUT IT WOULD NOT BUDGE. HE TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND THEN CRANKED THE CAR. THE WRENCH LIGHT WENT OFF AND THE CAR HAD POWER - JUST LIKE TURNING IT OFF HAD RESET SOMETHING. WE WERE ONLY A COUPLE OF MILES FROM OUR HOUSE, SO HE DROVE BY 2011 FORD FUSION HOME AND I FOLLOWED IN HIS TRUCK. I THEN CALLED MY DEALER, JIM TIDWELL FORD ON BARRETT PARKWAY AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THEY SUGGESTED THAT I CALL A WRECKER AND HAVE IT TOWED TO THEIR LOCATION AS DRIVING THE CAR MIGHT DUE FURTHER DAMAGE OR THE INCIDENT MIGHT RE-OCCUR. SO, THAT'S WHAT I DID. A SERVICE TECHNICIAN CALLED ME FIRST THING THIS MORNING AND I WENT OVER WHAT HAD HAPPENED WITH HIM. HE CALLED ME THIS AFTERNOON AND SAID MY CAR WAS READY FOR PICK UP. THE PROBLEM WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASSEMBLY AND SINCE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY THERE WOULD BE NO CHARGE TO ME. I CAN'T BELIEVE FORD ISN'T DECLARING A RECALL ON THIS PART. IF I HAD BEEN ON THE EXPRESSWAY, I FEEL CERTAIN I WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED. THIS PROBLEM WILL CAUSE SOMEONE TO GET KILLED. I'M JUST LUCKY NO ONE HIT ME. IT HAPPENED SO SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. FILLED TANK UP WITH FUEL. FEW HOURS LATER NOTICED THE SMELL OF GAS. FOUND FUEL TANK TO HAVE A STEADY DRIP OF GAS. LEAK IS COMING FROM TOP SIDE OF TANK ON PASSENGER SIDE. DUE TO THE AREA I CANNOT IDENTIFY WHERE LEAK IS ORIGINATING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN AT APPROXIMATELY 35MPH ON 9/18/13, THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE APPEARED IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAY "SERVICE ADVANCETRAK" AND "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT". AT THAT MOMENT, THE CAR DID NOT HAVE POWER STEERING. I PULLED OVER AND SHUT OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED IT AND THE CAR WORKED NORMALLY FOR A FEW BLOCKS THEN DID THE SAME SEQUENCE AGAIN. AS OF THIS MORNING 9/19/13, THE POWER STEERING IS WORKING FINE. *TR

WE BOTH TRUELY LOVED THIS CAR, BUT NOW......
I WAS TRAVELING AT A RATE OF 65 ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE OVER TO THE LEFT HAND SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. THE "WRENCH" SYMBOL DISPLAYED ON THE DASH. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, TURNED ON HAZARD LIGHTS. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES STARTED THE CAR UP AND WAS ABLE TO TRAVEL TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY CODES P2111 P2112. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED AND THE VEHICLE APPEARS TO BE RUNNING WELL NOW. THIS WAS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. MY 9 YEAR OLD SON WAS IN THE BACKSEAT. THANK GOODNESS WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY ADVANCE WARNINGS FROM THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO IT REFUSING TO ACCELERATE.
THE ENGINE STALLED IN TRAFFIC ON A 4 LANE SECONDARY ROAD WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE WITH CONCRETE JERSEY BARRIERS TO MY LEFT, AND TRAFFIC BEHIND ME AND TO MY RIGHT, SO I SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED THE CAR, BUT THE ENGINE WENT INTO 900 RPM "LIMP MODE" WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND WRENCH ICONS LIT. I EVENTUALLY CRAWLED OVER TO THE RIGHT LANE AND THEN THE BREAKDOWN LANE TO SHUT OFF THE CAR AND WENT THROUGH THIS PROCESS THREE MORE TIMES TO COVER THE LAST 10 MILES OF MY COMMUTE HOME. I USED AN OBD II SCANNER TO IDENTIFY A P2111 CODE BEFORE CONTACTING MY DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT. A LITTLE RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS THROTTLE BODY FAILURE IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT THE NHTSA HAS BEEN INVESTIGATING FOR A WHILE, BUT FORD HAS STILL NOT OWNED UP TO THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ISSUING A RECALL. *TR
ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2013 I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR SURFACE STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE CAR JUST STOPPED WORKING. COMPLETELY POWERLESS. I SAW TWO LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD: THE BATTERY AND THE OIL. THERE MAY HAVE BEEN MORE BUT I WAS MORE FOCUSED ON SAFETY AND ONCOMING TRAFFIC THAN THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH. I DECIDED NOT TO TAKE A CHANCE OF GETTING REAR ENDED (INJURED OR KILLED) SO AT THE FIRST BIG BREAK IN TRAFFIC I SAFELY EXITED THE VEHICLE AND WALKED OVER TO THE SIDEWALK (ONE LANE OVER). A LOCAL APARTMENT RESIDENT SAW THE INCIDENT AND GRABBED A SAFETY CONE TO PUT BEHIND MY CAR AS A WARNING. THANKFULLY THERE WERE NO ACCIDENTS BUT THERE WERE SOME CLOSE CALLS AND LAST MINUTE LANE CHANGES AS DRIVERS CAME UPON MY CAR. I CALLED FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THEY SENT A TOW TRUCK TO GET THE VEHICLE. IT STARTED UP PERFECTLY FOR THE DRIVER, BUT I HAD IT TOWED ANYWAY. IT HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR TWO DAYS. THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE SITUATION AND HAVE RECEIVED NO "CODES" TO INDICATE A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. THEY HAVE CALLED FORD TO ASK FOR ASSISTANCE AND FORD HAS ASKED THEM QUESTIONS REGARDING LIGHTS GOING ON, MY SPEED AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, HOW FAR I HAD BEEN DRIVING THE CAR BEFORE THE INCIDENT, ETC. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY 2011 FUSION COMPLETELY FAILING. THE FIRST TIME WAS IN SEPTEMBER 2012 WHEN THE THROTTLE FAILED ON THE FREEWAY. IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED. THIS TIME THE LOST OF POWER DID NOT FEEL LIKE THE THROTTLE. IT JUST STOPPED WORKING. HAD POWER. DIDN'T HAVE POWER. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED THAT THE DEALER WILL FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND IT WILL BE RETURNED TO ME IN AN UNSAFE CONDITION. OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THIS AND SIMILAR ISSUES. PLEASE GET THESE VEHICLES RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES A LIFE.
BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE, STARTED HEARING WARNING SOUNDS GOING OFF, MESSAGE BOARD SCROLLED THE FOLLOWING: POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAULT. I WAS UNABLE TO STEER MY VEHICLE AT ALL. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A CAR REPAIR SHOP. AFTER A FEW DAYS OF TRYING TO GET THE COMPUTER TO READ MY CAR TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG, THE CAR REPAIR SHOP HAD TO TOW MY CAR OVER TO A FORD DEALER WHO WAS ABLE TO TELL THE MECHANIC THAT MY ENTIRE STEERING SYSTEM WAS OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOT ONLY THAT, THIS PARTICULAR PART CAN ONLY BE PURCHASED FROM FORD AND THE PART ALONE COST $1105.26. THIS IS VERY MUCH A SAFETY ISSUE AND THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED. A COUPLE OF DAYS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT I WAS DRIVING DOWN 24 HWY GOING BETWEEN 40 AND 45 MPH WHEN THIS FIRST OCCURRED AND I FINALLY FOUND MYSELF IN THE MIDDLE OF A HEAVILY TRAFFIC AREA NOT ABLE TO STEER MY VEHICLE TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. I WAS CONCERNED WITH GETTING OFF THE ROAD IN A SAFE MANOR. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO COAST MY VEHICLE TO A STOPPING POINT, READ MY MANUAL AND DISCOVER A RESETTING PROCESSING. I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY DID NOT OFFER ANY HELP, ONLY STATED THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THIS DEVICE AND THAT MY WARRANTY WAS NO LONGER VALID AND I HAD NO EXTRA COVERAGE. FORD SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL THIS SYSTEM SINCE SO MANY PEOPLE AROUND THE COUNTRY ARE HAVING AN ISSUE WITH THIS SYSTEM. THERE IS NO WAY THE STEERING SYSTEM SHOULD GO OUT WITHIN 60 THOUSAND MILES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED WITHOUT MANUAL FORCE WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE MAINTENANCE WARNING LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
