TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FRANKLIN FORD (175 E CENTRAL ST, FRANKLIN, MA 02038 508-570-4022) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WIRING UNDER THE DASHBOARD HAD A CORRODED SOLDER POINT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A SHORT CIRCUIT IN THE WIRING HARNESS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SEVERAL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED AT A COST OF $3,000 HOWEVER, FAILED TO FIX THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,000.

THE CONTACT CALLED BRANDON FORD LOCATED AT 9090 E ADAMO DR, TAMPA, FL 33619, (813) 246-3673, AND WAS INFORMED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 102,000.
AFTER GOING TO SEVERAL SERVICE PLACES WITH MY BRAKES THEY ARE YET GIVING ISSUES HAVING TO PUMP THEM TO STOP. POWER STEERING SYSTEM ASSIST SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING AND DOOR LATCHES WON'T OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. THE LOCAL FORD PLACE SAID I NEED TO CONTACT FORD MOTOR COMPANY BECAUSE THERE ARE RECALLS FOR MY ISSUES BUT NOT FOR MY VIN NUMBER AND I NEED TO GET THEM ADDED UNDER MY VIN SO THEY CAN FIX IT WITH NO CHARGE. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE STEERING GOT HARD TO IT TO A SHOP CALLED GOOD YEAR THEY REST THE CODE AND SAID IF IT COMES BACK ON THEN THEY WILL HAVE TO CHANGE THE SENSOR IN IT I GUESS. WELL 3 DAYS LATER IT WENT HARD AGAIN THE LIGHT SAYING IT WAS OFF TAKE TO SHOP AGING SO THE REPLACED THE RACK N PIONON AND WHAT EVER THEY HAD TO DO GREAT IT WAS A PRETTY PENNY TO HAVE IT REPAIRED OH YA THEY SAID NO RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE THATS WHY I HAD TO PAY. MALFUNCTION WITH STEERING WHEN STARTING CAR STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT HAVE ANY STEERING ASSIST AFTER A FEW MOMENTS IN TRYING TO GET WHEEL TO TURN STEERING RETURNS TO NORMAL. *TR
MAY 29, 2020 WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO START MY FORD FUSION AFTER IT WAS PARKED A "LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST" MESSAGE APPEARED IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MESSAGE CENTER. I HAD THE CAR TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THE CAR NEEDED THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY REPLACED AT A COST OF $1,600. WHILE THE CAR IS A 2012 MODEL, IT HAS ONLY 34,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. DOING SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THAT THERE WAS A NHSTA RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 ON THIS ISSUE AND THAT THERE WAS A FORD SAFETY RECALL 15S18 SUPPLEMENT#1 IN 2015 AND #2 AND #3 DATED 5/17/2019 DETAILING REPLACING THE STEERING ASSEMBLY AT NO CHARGE TO THE OWNER FOR THE MODEL YEAR 2011-12 BUILD DATES THROUGH FEBRUARY 28, 2012 WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THROUGH 2022 OR 150,000 MILES . SINCE MY CAR WAS BUILT IN JUNE OF 2012, THE DEALER SAID IT WAS NOT WITHIN THE WARRANTY PERIOD AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. SUBSEQUENT ONLINE RESEARCH INDICATES THAT FORD'S CUTOFF DATE OF FEBRUARY 28, 2012 IS HIGHLY SUSPECT AND PROBABLY ARBITRARY BECAUSE THERE NUMEROUS, PERHAPS HUNDREDS, OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS POWER STEERING FAILURE ISSUE GOING INTO 2020 ON VEHICLES BUILT AFTER FEBRUARY 28, 2012. FORD OBVIOUSLY DID NOT RESOLVE THE MANUFACTURING ISSUE BY FEBRUARY 28, 2012 AS THEY WOULD LIKE YOU TO THINK THEY DID.*DT*JB
POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT. *TR
THE ELECTRIC RACK AND PINION HAS FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME I CONTACTED FORD THE 1ST OCCURRENCE.. WHILE DRIVING LUCKILY OTHER VEHICLES WAS NOT NEAR !!! OTHER 2012 MODELS HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM FIXED BY FORD BUT FOR SOME REASON THIS SPECIFIC VIN ISN'T COVERED THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION BECAUSE AS I HAVE READ WITH THE OTHER FUSION THEY RECALLED SOME WHERE INVOLVED IN ACCIDENTS DUE TO LOSS OF ELECTRIC ASSIST STEERING. *TR
BRAKES FAILED STOPPING SUDDENLY AT 70 MPH NEARLY HITTING A ROW OF CARS AHEAD OF ME PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR INCREASING STOPPING DISTANCE PROBABLY 400 PERCENT WITH VERY WEAL BRAKES. BRAKE LIGHT AND ABS INOP LIGHT ILLUMINATED. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE CAR HOME SLOWLY USING HYBRID ELECTRIC MOTOR BRAKES. REPAIR SHOP SAID BRAKE CONTROL MODULE HAS FAILED THIS IS A LOW MILEAGE CAR UNACCEPTABLE COULD GET SOMEONE KILLED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I GOT A POWER STEERING FAILED NOTICE AND I COULDN'T STEER MY CAR. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON TO GET IT TO WORK. THIS HAS HAPPENED 2-3 TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR. *TR
AFTER RETURNING FROM WORK AND TRYING TO RESTART CAR TO RUN ERRANDS STEERING FAULT IS DISPLAYED AND THERE IS NO POWER STEERING.
MY PASSENGER FRONT SIDE DOOR LOCK WILL NOT (UNLOCK OR LOCK) WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION OR STATIONARY. IT IS STUCK IN THE LOCKED POSITION WHEN I USE MY KEY PAD AND TRYING TO USE THE UNLOCK BUTTON IN MY CAR. I'M ALSO HAVING DIFFICULTIES WITH THE MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH WHILE STATIONARY. WHEN I'M READY TO EXIT MY CAR AFTER DRIVING, I URN OFF MY IGNITION; OPEN MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR; AND SHUT THE DOOR BUT SOMETIMES THE DOOR LATCH GET JAMMED AND NOT WANT TO CLOSE (THE LATCH WOULD BE FACING DOWN). *TR
DRIVING LIKE NORMAL UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS. THE RADIO SHUTS OFF, CHIMES DING LIKE IT DOES ON START UP, TURN SIGNALS DO NOT WORK, HORN DOES NOT WORK, AND CLIMATE CONTROLS DO NOT WORK. CAR IS STILL UNDER POWER, AND IT LASTS ANYWHERE FROM A FEW SECONDS TO ABOUT A MINUTE, THEN COMES BACK ON. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF I'M IN CITY TRAFFIC OR ON THE INTERSTATE, WET OR DRY, HOT OR COLD, OR SMOOTH OR BUMPY ROAD SURFACE.
MY 2012 FORD FUSION IS REVVING HIGH AND SHIFTING WEIRD. NOT LIKE SLIPPING BUT IT'S REVVING A LOT IF HER THEN IT SHOULD BE. ALSO THE TACHOMETER SHUDDERS EVERY NOW AND THEN AT 1600 RPM. MY FATHER TOLD ME THERE'S A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THE FORD FUSIONS TRANSMISSIONS AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE WITH MY WIFE AND KIDS DRIVING IT.
TRANSMISSION REVS HIGH BEFORE SHIFTING? IT ISN'T SLIPPING BUT IT ISN'T DRIVING HOW IT SHOULD BE.
THE BRAKE PEDAL IS SOFT AND TRAVELS FURTHER THAN NORMAL. BRAKING DISTANCE IS SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TURNED OUT THAT THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL AND THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNITS ARE BOTH FAULTY, BASED ON SOME RESEARCH IT APPEARS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. IT HAS A NEW MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKES HAVE BEEN BLED PROFESSIONALLY. THIS DID NOT CURE THE PROBLEM. IT IS UNSAFE. I WANT THE DEALER TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS AT NO COST TO ME. THIS IS A RECALL ITEM FOR 2010 FUSION, BUT NOT 2012.WHY??? I'VE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE WHY HASN'T ANYTHING BEEN DONE,SAFETY SHOULD BE TOP PRIORITY.
I LOST ALL POWER STEERING AROUND A TURN AND ALMOST WRECKED MY CAR!!!!!!! NOW I'M GETTING ABS LIGHTS AND SERVICE POWER STEERING, SERVICE ADVANCETRAC CODES WHICH WERE NOT ON PRIOR TO THE LOSS OF STEERING! I SEE RECALLS ON THIS ISSUE BUT MY VIN IS NOT IN THIS RECALL? HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?
ON 3/14/2020, OUT OF NO WHERE THE SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW, AND THE ADVANCETRAC LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS DRIVING DOWN MY COUNTRY ROAD AND ONLY DOING ABOUT 35MPH BECAUSE I JUST CAME AROUND A CURVE AFTER MY DRIVEWAY. THE PROBLEM IS COMMON AND VERY UNSAFE FOR DRIVERS. NOT TO MENTION EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE TO FIX. WHY IS IT THAT ONLY SOME OF THE CARS ARE COVERED IN THE RECALL WHEN ALL FORDS WITH THE NEWLY DESIGNED ELECTRONIC STEERING ARE AFFECTED BY THE FAILURE OF THIS SYSTEM!
I STOPPED AT TURNPIKE REST STOP. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR, A "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" LIGHT WAS ULLIMINATED (SEE ATTACHED IMAGE) AND THE STEERING WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I WAS UNABLE TO BACK THE CAR OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE DUE TO THE NEED TO MAKE A HARD TURN TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE CAR WILL BE EVALUATED ON MONDAY. I CHECKED MY CAR'S VIN ONLINE AND NO RECALLS ARE SHOWN. HOWEVER, MY ONLINE RESEARCH REVEALS THAT IS A POWER STEERING RECALL (OR SIMILAR WARRANTY ITEM) ISSUED IN 2015 (#15V340000). I SEE MANY, MANY REPORTS OF THIS SAME STEERING FAILURE ON 2012 FORD FUSION MODELS WITH OWNERS REPORTING A FAILURE OF FORD TO COVER THE PROBLEM DESPITE THIS BEING A KNOWN (AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS) FAILURE SINCE AT LEAST 2015. WHAT STEPS ARE BEING TAKEN TO REQUIRE FORD TO REPAIR ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES? MANY COMPLAINTS POSTED ON THIS SITE ALLEGE THE MANUFACTURE REFUSED TO REPAIR THE CONSUMER'S 2012 FUSION, DESPITE THE OBVIOUS KNOWN AND WIDESPREAD DANGEROUS ISSUE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TOWN AND COUNTRY FORD LOCATED AT (5041 FORD PKWY, BESSEMER AL.) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 164,217.
AFTER DRIVING CAR THE PREVIOUS DAY WITH NO ISSUE THIS MORNING I RECEIVED A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING IN MY DRIVEWAY NOW MAKING CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE. SAW THAT OTHER FUSIONS HAD A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE BUT MINE DID NOT.
EPAS SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW LIGHT CAME UP. STEERING IS VERY TIGHT AS IF NO POWER STEERING AT ALL ADVANTRAC LIGHT ALSO ON. FELT DIFFERENT LAST COUPLE DAYS.
WHILE TRAVELING AT A SLOW RATE OF SPEED THE BRAKES ON MY 2012 FORD FUSION HYBRID FAILED TO ENGAGE, WITH THE PEDAL TRAVELING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE CAR WAS TUNED OFF AND RESTARTED AND THE BRAKES SEEMED TO WORK AGAIN. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TOT HE DEALERSHIP AND TURNED OUT THE THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL AND THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNITS ARE BOTH FAULTY. THIS IS A RECALL ITEM FOR 2010 FUSION HYBRIDS, BUT NOT MY YEAR.
THE SERVICE ADVANCETRAC AND SERVICE POWER STEERING CAME ON. THIS HAPPENED 3 PREVIOUS TIMES AND THIS IS THE 4TH TIME. EVERY TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. EVERY TIME I PAID FOR SOMETHING BUT THEY NEVER TRULY FIXED THIS. THEY HAVE RESET THE ERROR TWICE AND MADE ME BUY NEW TIRES BEFORE RESETTING THE ERROR CLAIMING WORN TIRES WERE THE ROOT CAUSE. NOW HAPPENING AGAIN WITH NEW TIRES. THIS CREATES A DANGEROUS CIRCUMSTANCE WHEN POWER STEERING SUDDENLY GOES OUT.
YESTERDAY 2/15/2020 OUT OF NO WHERE THE (SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW, AND THE ADVANCE TRAC LIGHT CAME ON UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS DOING 55MPH ON A CURVY ROAD. THE PROBLEM IS COMMON AND VERY UNSAFE FOR DRIVERS. NOT TO MENTION EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE TO FIX. NOW WHY IS IT THAT ONLY SOME OF THE CARS ARE COVERED IN THE RECALL WHEN ALL FORDS WITH THE NEWLY DESIGNED ELECTRONIC STEERING ARE AFFECTED BY THE FAILURE OF THIS SYSTEM!
AS I WAS TURNING ON A HIGHWAY THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP.. THEN A CODE CAME UP SAYING ADVANCE TRAC STEERING WHEEL POWER NEED SERVICE NOW.
THE BRAKE PEDAL IS SOFT AND TRAVELS FURTHER THAN NORMAL. BRAKING DISTANCE IS SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED. THIS BEGAN AFTER THE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGED SEVERAL WEEKS AGO AFTER NORMAL BRAKING OVER A ROUGH SECTION OF ROAD AND IT HAS NOT RETURNED TO NORMAL. ALL BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED AND THE SYSTEM WAS FLUSHED BUT THE PROBLEM REMAINS. BASED ON SOME RESEARCH IT APPEARS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE CAUSED BY A FAULTY ABS MODULE.
SIMILAR TO PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS, THE SPRING BROKE ON THE FRONT LEFT STRUT ASSEMBLY. IT DIDN'T BREAK IN JUST ONE PLACE, THE SPRING BROKE IN THREE PLACES. TWO PIECES OF THE SPRING FELL TO THE GARAGE FLOOR. I AM GLAD THAT IT HAPPENED IN THE GARAGE AND NOT ON THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND I WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE WHEN IT HAPPENED. I HAVE THE PIECES AND WILL INCLUDE THE PICTURE IN THIS REPORT. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO GET SERVICED AT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP. I AM HAVING THEM REPLACE BOTH STRUT ASSEMBLIES. I COMMUTE FOR WORK AND IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING I WORRY THAT THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. SINCE THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED MULTIPLE TIMES ACROSS THE INTERNET, I BELIEVE THAT THIS NEEDS TO BE REPORTED AGAIN TO THE NHTSA.
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE THE POWER ASSIST SYSTEM GAVE OUT MAKING IT HARD FOR ME TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL A MESSAGE APPEARED POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO FORD DEALERSHIP ON FRIDAY FEBRUARY 07-2020 WAS TOLD FORD DENIED REQUEST BECAUSE IT WAS BEYOND TIME FOR A SUBSEQUENT FAILURE
STARTED MY CAR AT WORK FRIDAY, FEB 7TH AND AFTER A FEW SECONDS OF SITTING THERE IN THE PARKING LOT, A MESSAGE POPPED UP ON MY DASH SAYING "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT". MY STEERING WHEEL WOULDN'T MOVE. SHUT MY CAR OFF. WAITED A MINUTE. STARTED IT BACK UP. WAITED ANOTHER MINUTE AND NO MESSAGE. HAVEN'T SEEN IT SINCE BUT ALSO KNOW THERE HAS BEEN RECALLS ON FUSIONS FOR THIS. UNSURE IF MINE FALLS INTO THIS RECALL. CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP HERE AND THEY COULDN'T TELL ME FOR SURE WHETHER THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY EXACT VEHICLE. TOLD ME TO WAIT IT OUT TO SEE IF MESSAGE COMES BACK AGAIN. TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN IF MESSAGE RETURNS OR STARTS HAVING PROBLEMS. WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW IF MY VEHICLE FALLS UNDER THIS RECALL OR NOT AS I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO WAIT IT OUT AND FIND OUT THE HARD WAY.

DUE TO THE STEERING LOSS, THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH POWER STEERING FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING) WITH THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH STOPPED WORKING. SUDDENLY COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR TO EXIT VEHICLE AFTER PARKING IT. DOOR DOES OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE BUT NOT FROM WITHIN.
MY SON WAS DRIVING & PREPARING TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN. IT WAS A ROAD HE WAS VERY FAMILIAR WITH. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. HE ATTEMPTED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE & TURN THE CORNER BY SWERVING UP AN EMBANKMENT SLIGHTLY. HE REALIZED IT WOULDN'T SLOW. HE PUMPED THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO BRAKE RESPONSE. HE CHOSE BETWEEN A GARAGE & A TREE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. HE HEADED FOR THE TREE. IN INSURANCE INVESTIGATION, BRAKES FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. SEVERE UNDERCARRIAGE DAMAGE HAD BEEN REPAIRED LESS THAN 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. POLICE WERE CALLED TO ACCIDENT SCENE & FILED REPORT. THERE WERE NO SKID MARKS AT THE SCENE. THE SPEED WAS ESTIMATED AT 35-40 MPH - WITHIN/LOWER THAN SPEED LIMIT. *LN *DL CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED IN THE ACCIDENT. INSURANCE COMPANY IS MOVING VEHICLE TO A SALVAGE POOL. THEY CONDUCTED AN INVESTIGATION AND LOOKED AT THE ABS/HCU AND DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKES DID NOT CAUSE FAILURE. *DL
STEERING GEAR FAILURE CAUSED POWER STEERING TO FAIL, DIAGNOSTIC CODE P07AE-09. CODE ABOVE ASSOCIATED WITH RECALL - STEERING CONTROL MODULE, STEERING GEAR REPLACEMENT FOR CERTAIN 2011-2012 FUSION MODELS. THE ISSUE: MECHANICAL FAILURE ASSOCIATED WITH PARTS THEMSELVES, NOT WITH ASSEMBLY OF VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE'S STEERING GEAR IS COVERED UNDER A RECALL BUT BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WAS ASSEMBLED AT A DIFFERENT PLANT THAN OTHER COVERED VEHICLES OF THE SAME MODEL/YEAR, FORD WILL NOT COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR. MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS COVERAGE.
I RECEIVED A NOTICE INFORMING ME OF A RECALL ON MY POWER STEERING SYSTEM VIA MAIL. I TOOK MY CAR TO FORD AND THEY CLAIMED TO "RESET" THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. A YEAR LATER I WAS DRIVING HOME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WHEN I SMELLED SOMETHING SIMILAR TO "BURNING RUBBER" COMING THROUGH MY AIR VENTS. SMOKE THEN BEGAN TO COME FROM THE HOOD OF MY CAR AS IT SLOWED DOWN ON ITS OWN. I QUICKLY PULLED OVER INTO THE NEAREST PARKING LOT AND WALKED A SAFE DISTANCE AWAY AFTER SEEING A TROUBLING AMOUNT OF SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD. I TOOK MY CAR TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP TO FIND THAT THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM HAD SHUT DOWN AND CAUSED MY ALTERNATOR TO FAIL. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO FORD. THEY TOLD ME THAT ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY CAR, FORD WAS REFUSING TO PAY FOR IT BECAUSE OF HOW OLD THE CAR WAS. MY CAR IS A 2012 FORD FUSION AND IT IS INCLUDED IN THE RANGE OF CARS ELIGIBLE FOR THE REPLACEMENT. THEY ALSO FAILED TO GIVE ME THIS INFORMATION THE YEAR BEFORE.
I WAS DRIVING HOME ON 01/28/2020 WHEN THE SERVICE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS DRIVING AT AROUND 35 MPH, AND DID RUN OVER SOME SAND THAT WAS ON THE ROAD THAT MADE THE CAR SLIP SOMEWHAT, BUT NOT MUCH. AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME, BUT DID GET HOME SAFELY. THE SERVICE STATION I WENT TO THE NEXT MORNING TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL OUT FOR THE POWER STEERING ISSUE, BUT IT SEEMS MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED. WHY IS THAT IF THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE FORD FUSION? I HAVE NOT YET BEEN ABLE TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED AS I DO NOT HAVE 1800.00 TO 2000.00 TO SPEND ON THIS REPAIR AT THE MOMENT.
DOOR ON DRIVERS SIDE LOCK JAMS. DRIVER HAS TO OPEN DOOR FROM OUTSIDE. ARE THERE ANY RECALLS FOR THIS CAR DOOR LOCKS?
I BROUGHT THIS UNIT AT AN AUCTION, BUT THE WHEEL CONTINUES TO LOOK ON ME.... NOW SEVERAL LIGHTS ARE ON INCLUDING CHECK ENGINE.
I HAD A FLAT TIRE AND TOOK MY CAR IN TO REPLACE MY 2 FRONT TIRES AND DROVE OFF AND IT AND I GOT A POWER STEERING FAILURE AND ADVANCETRAC FAILURE.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT. RECEIVED MESSAGES ON MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TELLING ME THAT MY POWER STEERING NEEDS TO BE SERVICED. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30-40 MPH. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, IT APPEARS THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED IN 2015, 15S18. HOWEVER MY CAR MISSED THE BUILD DATE BY 12 DAYS. I WAS TOLD MY FORD MY CAR WAS BUILT ON MARCH 12TH AND THE RECALL ONLY COVERED UP TO FEB 28TH. I'M HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE THAT THE RECALL STATES HOWEVER MY CAR ISN'T COVER AS IT WAS BUILT 12 DAYS AFTER THE BUILD DATE. THIS RECALL NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND THE DATES EXTENDED AS I'M ALSO HAVING THIS ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED HOWEVER, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE VEHICLE THE FOLLOWING DAY THE POWER STEERING FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEWEY FORD LOCATED AT 3055 SE DELAWARE AVE, ANKENY, IA 50021 WHERE HE HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE POWER STEERING CEASED WITHOUT WARNING. THE PLEASE SERVICE POWER STEERING LIGHT HAD ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED; THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A DEFECTIVE POWER STEERING RACK. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND REMAINED IN THE POSSESSION OF THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.
ON TWO OCCASIONS THE BRAKE SYSTEMS FAILED TO WORK. 1. DRIVING ON RT 4 (DOUBLE LANE STATE RD.) IN MAINE SPEED APPROX 60 MPH. THERE WAS 4 TO 5 CARS AHEAD OF ME. SUDDENLY, EVERYONE APPLIED THEIR BRAKES. THE FIRST CAR IN LINE DECIDED TO TAKE A LEFT HAND TURN. I APPLIED MY BRAKES-BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR--NO ANTILOCK BRAKES. HAD TO SWERVE INTO ONCOMING LANE. FINALLY CAR STOPPED. A SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED WAS ON A HILL IN DOVER, NH. THERE IS A TRAFFIC LIGHT AT BOTTOM OF HILL. AS I STARTED DOWN THE HILL, I APPLIED THE BRAKES AGAIN NO BRAKES NO ANTILOCK BRAKES. LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO STOP BY TIME I REACHED THE LIGHT. I TOOK CAR TO A LOCAL GARAGE THEY TEST DROVE AND IT OPERATED FINE. THEY REMOVED WHEELS AND LOOKED AT ALL THE BRAKES. THE REAR BRAKES, CALIPERS, PADS ETC WERE REPLACED A YEAR AGO. THE FRONT BRAKES LOOKED BRAND NEW EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS ALMOST 52,000 MILES ON THEM.PADS AND ROTORS LOOKED LIKE NEW, SHINY, NO SCRATCHES. COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. WE DECIDED TO REPLACED THE ROTORS AND PADS WITH A SOFTER VERSION. SEEMS TO BE WORKING??? *TR
MY POWERSTEERING AND ADVANTRAC BOTH ARE STILL ACTING CRAZY. I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN WASN'T APART OF THE SAME RECALL THAT IS CURRENTLY ISSUED FOR MY 2012 FORD FUSION. AT RANDOM TIMES THE POWERSTEERING NOTFICATION AND ADVANCTRAC ALERT WITH COME AND MY STEERING WILL WITH COMPLETELY LOCK UP WITH VERY LITTLE TIME FROM THE ALERT. THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH BOTH INTOWN AND HIGHWAY DRIVING.
I TURNED ON MY CAR AND GOT A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON DOESN'T NOT CLEAR THE FAULT. I HAVE NO POWER STEERING IN MY 2012 FORD FUSION.
THIS CAR WAS LEASED FROM FORD IN 2012. IT WAS RETURNED TO FORD IN 2015 WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS LEASED. FORD CONTINUES TO SEND US AIRBAG RECALL NOTICES ON A CAR WE LEASED AND RETURNED 4 OR 5 YEARS AGO. FORD HAS BEEN ADVISED THEY SHOULD HAVE THE RECORDS FOR THE CAR SINCE IT WAS RETURNED TO TOM HOLZER FORD AT THE END OF THE LEASE. AT THIS POINT THEY DECLINE TO MAKE ANY EFFORT TO LOCATE THE CAR AND CORRECT THIS FIASCO. SOMEONE MAY BE AT RISK BECAUSE OF THIS REFUSAL.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO GET THE AIR BAG RECALL COMPLETED. THE DEALER CALLED AND SAID THAT MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND WOULD NEED TO BE DIAGNOSED TO MAKE MY AIRBAGS WORK AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO PAY TO HAVE THE SYSTEM DIAGNOSED. I DECLINED BECAUSE MY CAR IS THERE FOR A RECALL. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT IF THE LIGHT IS ON THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT WORK. IF TRUE WHY ARE THEY WASTING PEOPLES TIME WITH THIS RECALL? I THINK THIS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIR PART WAS A MANUFACTURER ONLY PART AND THAT THE COST FOR THE REPAIR WAS APPROXIMATELY $2,600. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
