THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 111,000.
TAKATA RECALL - I AM TIRED AT BEING STRUNG ALONG BY FORD. EVERY MONTH FOR OVER A YEAR I HAVE CALLED TO SEE WHEN PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE AND THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS "NEXT MONTH" OR "BY THE END OF THE CURRENT QUARTER." MY UNDERSTANDING IS THEY ARE UNDER AN NHTSA ORDER TO HAVE HAD THE PARTS AVAILABLE BY DEC 2017. THEIR CORPORATE CUSTOMER SUPPORT CALL CENTER IS NOT VERY HELPFUL. NHTSA NEEDS TO PUT MORE PRESSURE ON FORD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH ON GRAVEL ROAD AND THEN ON A PAVED HIGHWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. IN ADDITION, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE STEERING MOTOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KARL KLEMENT FORD (2670 U S 287, DECATUR, TX 76234, (940) 627-1101), BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 148,000.

THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT APPEAR AS THE CAR WAS MOVING IN REVERSE AND LOST THE USE OF STEERING OCCURRED IT HAPPENED TWICE WITHIN A TWO WEEK SPAN. TOOK IT TO DEALER IT GAVE THE CODE U3000:49-08
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE BRAKING DISTANCE WAS EXTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS, ROTORS, AND CALIPERS, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000. *BF. *TR
POWER STEERING SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. IT STARTED WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED ON AND WOULD SAY "POWER STEERING FAULT" AND IF I RESTARTED THE CAR IT WOULD GO AWAY. IT WOULD WORK ON AND OFF. IT EVENTUALLY STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER.
AT 119,889 MILES ON 6/26/2018, I TOOK A FORD FUSION TO THE DEALER AFTER THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN A WARNING FLASHED ACROSS THE DISPLAY THAT THE POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE SERVICED IMMEDIATELY, HOWEVER THE POWER STEERING WAS WORKING FINE UNTIL I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE POWER STEERING WOULD NOT FUNCTION. I TOOK THE FORD FUSION TO THE DEALER AND THE STEERING GEAR WAS REPLACED AND THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE WAS REPROGRAMMED AT NO CHARGE. THE POWER STEERING WORKED FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS. ONCE AGAIN, WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, A WARNING TO SERVICE THE POWER STEERING IMMEDIATELY FLASHED ACROSS THE DISPLAY, ALTHOUGH THE POWER STEERING STILL FUNCTIONED UNTIL I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. UPON RESTARTING THE CAR, THE POWER STEERING DID NOT FUNCTION. ON 9/22/2018 AND AT 124,591 MILES, I RETURNED THE FORD FUSION TO THE DEALER. I WAS CHARGED $134.95 FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND GIVEN AN ESTIMATE OF $1057.58 TO REPLACE THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS AND PERFORM AN ALIGNMENT TO FIX THE POWER STEERING. THE DEALER SAID THE BEARINGS HAD WORN OUT SINCE 9/22/2018, AND THAT THE CODE TO FIX THE POWER STEERING WAS A HARD CODE AND THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE COULD NOT BE RESET TO FIX THE ISSUE. THE DEALER SAID THE BEARINGS WERE WARN OUT, CREATING FRICTION IN THE STEERING, LEADING TO THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE TO SHUT DOWN THE POWER STEERING. THE DEALER SAID THE ONLY FIX FOR THE POWER STEERING WAS TO REPLACE THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS THAT INCLUDED THE BEARINGS, THEN RESET THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE.
GOT IN A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH A LARGE ANIMAL AND TOTALED MY VEHICLE GOING 55 MPH AND MY AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. MY WHOLE FRONT END WAS CRUSHED.
WHEN DRIVING MY 2012 FORD FUSION SEL AWD, THE POWER STEERING WILL (AT RANDOM) CEASE TO FUNCTION AND CAUSES EXTREME DIFFICULTY IN STEERING. IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY. AT SPEED THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND TERRIFYING EVENT. THE LIGHTS FOR THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM, THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM, AND OCCASIONALLY THE ADVANCE TRAC SYSTEM COME ON. IT IS NOT ALWAYS ALL OF THE LIGHTS ALL OF THE TIME, AND THE ERRORS VARY. I HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT AND THE CODES READ, AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. I NEED THIS FIXED AS I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN THAT I REFUSE TO ALLOW TO RIDE IN THE CAR AS I'M AFRAID FOR THEIR SAFETY. IT STRANDS ME AT RANDOM AT WORK AND AT SCHOOL AN HOUR FROM HOME AS WELL. UPON CRANKING THE LIGHTS FOR POWER STEERING FAILURES COME ON AND I HAVE TO SIT AND WAIT ON A RIDE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AS EVERY TIME I HAVE CALLED MULTIPLE FORD DEALERSHIPS, THEY GIVE ME A RUNAROUND EXPLAINING THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE BECAUSE THE INTERNET IS RIFE WITH POSTERS HAVE THE SAME EXACT ISSUES I AM HAVING AND ARE HAVING NO ASSISTANCE EITHER FROM FORD. PLEASE HELP US WITH THIS PROBLEM, AS I CANNOT AFFORD TO PURCHASE A NEW CAR AFTER THIS ONE HAS DRAINED ME OF MY RESOURCES.

SEPT 23.ON A STREET WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON.THE SERVICE INSTRAK.LIGHT CAME ON.THE STEERING BECAME VERY VERY HARD TO TURN. PARKED AND FOUND NO FLUID BECAUSE THIS CAR HAS ELECTRONIC STEERING. SEPT 24.IT WAS TAKEN TO THE FORD DEALER TO GET THIS CHECKED. I FOUND THE NHTSA RECALL 15V340000 AND WANTED FORD TO HONOR THIS RECALL. I PUT IN A CASE WITH FORD WHICH THEY DENIED 4 DAYS LATER. MEANWHILE MY CAR WAS IN THE DEALER WAITING FOR APPROVAL. I HAD TO GET A RENTAL CAR. THE DEALER ADVOCATED FOR ME BUT WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR PAID THE DEALER 1200.00 SEPT 29TH 6 DAYS LATER....THEN 1 WEEK LATER OCT 6, THE SAME THING HAPPENED STEERING FROZE UP ON A STREET AND I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY DEALER.. THEY THEN GAVE ME A LOANER.. THE CAR WAS CLEARED OF CODES AND I PICKED IT UP OCT 9. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. WHILE THE CONTACT'S SON WAS DRIVING 25-30 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED TO TURN AND THE POWER STEERING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER (GOLF MILL FORD, 9401 N MILWAUKEE AVE, NILES, IL 60714, (847) 470-9800) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER THE RECALL AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER A WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.

WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN AND THE POWER ASSIST STEERING FAILURE MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL DINGING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CROSSROADS FORD OF INDIAN TRAIL (88 DALE JARRETT BLVD, INDIAN TRAIL, NC 28079, (888) 701-7963) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED THE MILEAGE FOR REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBERS: 15852329 AND 15823495. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE LOCAL DEALER WOULD NEED TO VERIFY THE WARRANTY INFORMATION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
CAR LOST ALL STEERING AND PULLED TO THE LEFT WITH A WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED STATING SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW. FORD REPLACED A STEERING GEAR THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A RECALL LESS THAN 30 DAYS AND 300 MILES LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN WITH THE WIFE DRIVING 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS CAR IS A DANGER TO DRIVE AND IS GOING TO CAUSE DEATHS. FORD IS NOW WANTING TO CHARGE ME FOR THE REPAIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT TWO YEARS AGO, WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AN UNKNOWN FORD DEALER IN MILWAUKEE, WI, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO YEARS LATER, WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING, AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO HIT A GUARD RAIL AND CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THERE WAS NO WARNING. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WAS NO POLICE REPORT AND NO REPORT OF ANY INJURY. THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED BUT WAS NOT TOWED. THE CONTACT MET HIS WIFE AT THE SCENE AND DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE GORDIE BOUCHER FORD OF MENOMONEE FALLS DEALER, LOCATED AT: N88W14300 MAIN ST, MENOMONEE FALLS, WI 53051 WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE RECALL, NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING), DID NOT APPLY TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THE WARRANTY EXPIRED, THE VEHICLE WAS OVER 150,000. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE INITIAL FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130.
SEVERAL TIMES WHEN I HAVE BEEN DRIVING OR JUST STARTING TO DRIVE MY POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT. I THEN HAVE TO TURN THE MOTOR OFF AND RESTART THE ENGINE AND THEN IT WILL BE ALRIGHT. TWICE I HAD PULLED OUT OF MY GARAGE AND STARTED FORWARD IT WENT OUT AND ANOTHER TIME I HAD STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT AND STARTED TO GO AND IT WENT OUT AGAIN. I WAS ON A CITY STREET AT THE TIME.
I RECENTLY NOTICED THE MARK ON MY DRIVEWAY WAS GETTING BIGGER. SOMETHING UNDER THE ENGINE IS LEAKING. BROUGHT CAR IN FOR LEAK, AFTER 1/2 HOUR, THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO REPLACE THE PTU. OF COURSE, THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. THE COST WILL BE AROUND $2300. I NEED MY CAR SO TOLD THEM TO FIX IT OF COURSE. I AM ON A LIMITED BUDGET, THANK GOODNESS FOR CHARGE CARDS!
VEHICLE WOULDN'T START AND GOT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER INSPECTION THEY FOUND THE FUEL PUMP UNIT HOUSING CRACKED AND ELECTRICALLY SHORTED, BLOWING THE FUSE. BOTH THE FUEL PUMP AND THE FUSE NEEDED REPLACED. CAR HAS 87K MILES. THIS COULD HAVE FAILED ANYWHERE ON THE ROAD
MY 69 YEAR OLD MOTHER WAS DRIVING THE 2012 FORD FUSION WHEN SHE LOST STEERING CONTROL AND NEARLY HAD AN ACCIDENT. IT TOOK ALL HER STRENGTH TO WRESTLE THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT REPAIRED EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL DUE TO THAT EXACT PROBLEM WITH STEERING. THE CAR WAS NOT CORNERED BECAUSE THE MILEAGE WAS 153000. THREE YEARS PAST THE LIMIT OF THE RECALL. I WAS ALSO ADVISED THE FIX COULD BE ABOUT. $2000. I CAN NOT AFFORD THIS BUT I STILL NEED TO DRIVE TO WORK SO I MUST DRIVE IT KNOWING IT COULD GO OUT AGAIN. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT OR ANYTHING THE POWERED STEERING JUST STOPPED WORKING.
MY VEHICLES STEERING GEAR WAS RECALLED AND REPLACED IN JANUARY OF 2016. THE PART THAT WAS PUT IN TO RECTIFY THE RECALL WAS PART #AE5Z-3504-DE. THIS REPAIR WAS DONE AT OURISMAN WORLD OF FORD IN ALEXANDRIA, VA 22303. THIS PART FAILED ON SEPTEKMBER 5, 2018 AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER AND REPLACED AGAIN. OURSIMAN CHARGED US FOR THE SECOND REPAIR. SHOULDN'T THIS BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL STILL, OR AT LEAST BE RECALLED AGAIN? THE CAR WOULD BARELY STEER AND HAD TO BE PARKED ON THE STREET UNTIL IT COULD BE TOWED.

WAS PICKING MY KID UP FROM SCHOOL. BACKING INTO A SPOT AND AS I WENT TO PULL FOWARD ALITTLE MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND POWER ASSIST FAULT APPEARED ON THE SCREEN ON MY DASHBOARD . I WAS PART OF A RECALL IN 2015 FOR THE SAME ISSUE. LUCKILY IT WASN'T 5 MINS LATER WITH MY KID IN THE CAR DRIVING. SEEMS TO BE A ONGOING ISSUE WITH STEERING ISSUES MY HAS ALWAYS HAD A LITTLE TICK WHILE DRIVING
WHILE DRIVING ONE OF MY VEHICLE'S TIRES WENT FLAT. I ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE THE TIRE AND REPLACE IT WITH MY SPARE, BUT THE LUG WRENCH SUPPLIED WITH THE CAR DID NOT FIT THE LUG NUTS. SO I CALLED AAA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND A TECH ARRIVED. AFTER SPENDING A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TRYING TO FIND A WRENCH TO FIT THE LUG NUTS, THE TECH ADVISED THAT I SHOULD CALL A TOW TRUCK TO TOW THE VEHICLE. I THEN CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST REPAIR FACILITY. THE REPAIR FACILITY CALLED ME AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS A SYNDROME THAT IS WELL KNOWN TO FORD CALLED "SWOLLEN LUG NUT SYNDROME," WHICH AFFECTS THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF THEIR VEHICLES. THE LUG NUTS SWELL OVER TIME DUE TO MOISTURE AND WILL NOT COME OFF OF THE TIRES. RATHER, THEY NEED TO BE CUT OFF AND THEN REPLACED WITH NEW LUG NUTS. I HAD NO IDEA THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN TO MY CAR. THAT I COULD BE STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY AT NIGHT ALONE ON LABOR DAY WITHOUT ANY WAY TO CHANGE MY TIRE. HAD I KNOWN, I CERTAINLY WOULD NOT HAVE WAITED UNTIL I HAD A FLAT TIRE THAT NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. THE COST TO FIX THE PROBLEM IS NOMINAL - $150 ($7.50 EACH WITH 20 LUG NUTS), WHICH I AM NOW PAYING OUT OF POCKET TO MAKE SURE THIS NEVER HAPPENS TO ME AGAIN. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR INJURED TRYING TO CHANGE THE TIRE ON MY CAR. FORD IS WELL AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AS EVIDENCED BY THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND LAWSUITS ACROSS THE COUNTRY ABOUT WHICH I HAD NO IDEA UNTIL I RESEARCHED IT. I FIND IT UNCONSCIONABLE THAT FORD WAS WELL AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND NEVER BOTHERED TO SEND A LETTER OR NOTIFICATION TO ITS CUSTOMERS THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND A LETTER SHOULD BE SENT TO EVERY SINGLE FORD VEHICLE OWNER SO THAT THEY ARE NOT STUCK STANDING BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE A TIRE THAT WILL NEVER COME OFF.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN MY STREET GOING ABOUT 10 MPH. MY BREAK PEDDEL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH THE SOUND OF LOUD GROUNDING. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO TBE HOUSE. IN THE PAST WEEK A BREAK BOOSTER NEW FRONT AND BACK PADS 1 CALIPER A MASTER CYLINDER AND ABS MODULE HAVE BEEN REPLACED. BREAKS ARE STILL NON EXISTANT.
MY TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN JOLTING WHENEVER IT SHIFTS INTO GEAR 3, ESPECIALLY WHEN GOING UP HILLS. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND NOT BEEN INVOLVED ANY ANY PREVIOUS ACCIDENTS. THE PROBLEM STARTED WHEN IT HAD ABOUT 80,000 MILES ON IT, AND NOW IT HAS 110,000 MILES AND THE PROBLEM IS WORSE. TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED NOTICE IN AUGUST 2018 ABOUT A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE, AND HAVE SINCE CONTACTED FORD DEALERSHIPS SEVERAL TIMES TO HAVE MY AIRBAG REPLACED, TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND MY PASSENGERS. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THERE IS TOO HIGH OF A DEMAND FOR THESE AIRBAGS, AND THAT FORD DOES NOT HAVE ANY REPLACEMENTS (ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP IN BAYSHORE, NY). THEY HAVE SINCE IGNORED MY RECURRENT CALLS AND REQUESTS FOR UPDATES, AND SIMPLY ATTEMPT TO "PASS THE BATON" AND RELAY RESPONSIBILITIES TO OTHER DEPARTMENTS. I SENT A LETTER TO FORD CORPORATE IN MICHIGAN ON NOVEMBER 25TH (PLEASE SEE ATTACHMENT) AND HAVE STILL NOT HEARD BACK. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IN A VEHICLE THAT MAY EXPLODE WITH SHRAPNEL IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, AND I DO NOT APPRECIATE BEING IGNORED AND LACK OF DILIGENCE BEING SHOWN. IT IS FORD'S RESPONSIBILITY TO ASSURE MY SAFETY AND ISSUE A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE UNTIL THEY ARE ABLE TO SUPPLY CUSTOMERS WITH THE REPLACEMENT NEEDED. I HOPE THAT ACTION WILL BE TAKEN TO RECTIFY THIS SITUATION SOONER THAN LATER.

I CHECKED ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALL NOTICES FOR MY 2012 FORD FUSION, TO WHICH I FOUND AN OPEN RECALL FOR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY DON'T HAVE THE PART YET BUT THAT I AM NOT ABLE TO USE MY CAR FOR SAFETY REASONS AND SO THEY PUT ME IN A RENTAL UNTIL IT'S FIXED. IT'S BEEN OVER A MONTH AND A HALF AND THERE'S STILL NO PART OR COMMUNICATION ABOUT TIMING AND THE RENTAL IS MUCH SMALLER THAN MY CAR AND VERY INCONVENIENT WITH MY CURRENT FAMILY SITUATION.

I CAN'T GET OUT OF MY FORD FUSION, I'VE TRIED THE DRIVER'S DOOR HANDLE, AND IT WON'T OPEN THE DOOR, TOOK TO FORD DEALER, THEY TOLD ME DOOR HANDLE IS BROKEN, NOT UNDER WARRANTEE, I'VE BARELY HAD MY CAR 2 MONTHS, TRIED ROLLING DOWN DRIVER'S WINDOW, AND THE DOOR LOCK HAS JAMMED, TWICE, CAUSING ME A LIFE DEATH SITUATION, WHERE, I WAS LITERALLY TRAPPED IN MY CAR FOR 25 MINUTES, TWICE, NO PHONE OR WATER, AND PASSERBY'S DIDN'T WANT TO GET INVOLVED, JUST TO HELP ME GET MY DOOR UNJAMMED. I WAS SWEATING PROFUSELY, I HAD TO CRAWL OVER THE SHIFTER AND EMERGENCY BRAKE JUST TO GET TO THE PASSENGER DOOR TO GET TO SAFETY, AND WITH A LUMBAR BRACE ON FOR MY 9 COMPRESSED DISCS IN MY BACK AND 7 IN MY NECK, I WAS REALLY SCARED THAT I WOULD DIE IN MY CAR. IT TOOK ME 15 MINUTES TO GET TO THE PASSENGER DOOR AND IN TWICE AD MUCH PAIN TWISTING MY BACK AND NECK, I WAS ON THE VERGE OF HEAT EXHAUSTION FROM A HOT CAR IN AZ WHERE THE OUTSIDE TEMPS GET OVER 108 DEGREES IN THE SUMMERTIME. I WAS DRIPPING WET WHEN I FINALLY FOUND A WAY OUT OF MY CAR. THIS DOOR HANDLE ISN'T COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTEE, AND IT SHOULD BE, FOR PEOPLE ON LOW INCOME SITUATIONS, OR HAVE A RECALL ON THE DOOR LOCK AND HANDLE SITUATION, BECAUSE IT'S A MANUFACTURES DEFECT, BUT, FORD WON'T ADMIT THAT THEY HAVE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE DO IT HANDLES BREAKING AND TRAPPING PEOPLE IN THEIR CARS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL, SO FORD CAN BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR DEFECT AND REDESIGN IT DIFFERENTLY SO THE DOOR HANDLES DON'T BREAK,AND TRAP PEOPLE IN THEIR CARS. LOSS OF POWER STEERING. LIGHTS FLICKERED WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THEN SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC AND SERVICE POWER STEERING MESSAGE CAME ACROSS DASHBOARD. DROVE HOME AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND WHEN I TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON SAME MESSAGES APPEARED AND STEERING WHEEL IS TOO HARD TO TURN THEREFORE UNABLE TO DRIVE.
TODAY AFTER PARKING AND TURNING OFF MY CAR, I COULD HEAR THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS DISENGAGE BUT MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE. I TRIED TO MANUALLY UNLOCK IT AND IT DOESN'T MOVE, I TRIED USING THE KEY FOB TO LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DOOR AND I TRIED THE AUTOMATIC LOCK BUTTON ON THE DOOR. I HAD TO RESTART MY CAR, ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW TO OPEN IT FROM THE OUTSIDE TO FINALLY GET OUT.

THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK, COLLAR BONE, SCARRING TO THE LEFT HAND, LEFT WRIST, AND LEFT ARM AS WELL AS CHEST PAINS FROM THE SEAT BELT RESTRAINING TIGHTLY. THE FRONT PASSENGER ALSO SUSTAINED CHEST PAINS FROM THE SEAT BELT RESTRAINING TIGHTLY. BOTH OCCUPANTS RECEIVED MEDICAL TREATMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I WAS DRIVING FROM WORK TO HOME YESTERDAY AND WHEN I TURNED MY RIGHT SIGNAL LIGHTS ON IT IS FLICKERING VERY FAST THAN NORMAL. WE THEN REMOVE THE TAIL LIGHTS AND FOUND ANOTHER BIG PROBLEM. MY TAIL LIGHTS IS BURNED AROUND THE BASE AND THE OTHER BULB IS BLACK. ALSO, WHEN WE PULL THE BULB A LOT OF STUFF CAME OFF FROM THE BASE LIKE TINY BEADS??. BOTH TAIL LIGHTS IS BURNED DOWN ALTHOUGH THE OTHER LIGHT STILL WORKING. I NOW HAVE CONCERNED WHY THE BULB IS BURNING WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHATSOEVER. I READ ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE IS ANY OTHER CASES COME TO FIND OUT THERE AREN'T MANY. I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE WHO OWNS FORD VEHICLE TO CHECK YOUR LIGHTS OFTEN AND FILE A COMPLAINT LIKE I DID TODAY. WE DECIDED TO SWITCH EACH LIGHT TO SEE IF IT IS DOING THE SAME THING. WHILE IN STATIONARY, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I COULD NOT TURN THE VEHICLE. A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD SAYING "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW." I HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC AND CONFIRMED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST AND MUST BE REPLACED. HOWEVER, THE STEERING CAME BACK TO NORMAL AFTER A DAY. I FOUND OUT ON FORD'S WEBSITE THAT THERE IS A RECALL (15N01) ISSUED ON THE CAR AND THAT I SHOULD CONTACT A FORD DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE AND SERVICE THE PROBLEM. BUT, THE MECHANICS AT FORD'S DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND THEREFORE, COULD NOT FIX IT UNLESS IT HAPPENS AGAIN.
SEAT: HEATING ELEMENT IN LEATHER SEAT WENT BAD. TEMP WAS GREATER THAN 150 DEGREES. AIR CONDITIONING: BLOWER MOTOR FAN CONTROL WENT OUT 2 TIMES WITHIN 600 MILES (82,100 AND 82,600)
THE "RACK AND STEERING GEAR IS BROKEN" WHICH IS THE SAME THING AS A RECALL FOR THIS CAR, BUT APPARENTLY DOESN'T APPLY TO MY VIN NUMBER AND THEREFORE IS NOT COVERED. I TOOK IT TO A NON FORD REPAIR CENTER AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT IS WAS THE SAME ISSUE AS STATED IN THE RECALL FOR OTHER 2012 FORD FUSIONS, BUT I HAVE TO PAY ALMOST 2,000 TO GET IT FIXED ON MY OWN. I SPENT 107 DOLLARS GETTING IT LOOKED AT FIRST BY THE OTHER PARTY SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS NOT GIVEN THE RECALL AND I WASN'T INFORMED OF THE ISSUE BEFORE IT HAPPENED AND THEN STILL HAD TO PAY FOR FORD TO FIX IT.
THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL FOR THE PART I HAD TO REPLACE FOR $3000 UNDER CODE 15S18, BUT FOR SOME REASON, MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL THOUGH IT IS THE EXACT PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL AND OTHER FORD FUSIONS OF THE SAME TIMEFRAME ARE COVERED. I LOST AND REGAINED CONTROL OF STEERING FOR SOME TIME UNTIL IT EVENTUALLY STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER.
POWER STEERING IS NOT WORKING AT STARTUP SOMETIMES. GET A MESSAGE ON THE DASHBOARD ABOUT "ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSIST FAULT". RESTARTING THE ENGINE SOLVES THE ISSUE. WHY IS THIS CAR NOT UNDER THE RECALL? IT FITS THE DESCRIPTION OF THE RECALL FOR THIS MAKE MODEL AND YEAR. IT DOES NOT HAVE THE V6 ENGINE.
