A COUPLE DAYS AGO, I GOT TO WORK AND THE FRONT, DRIVER-SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. IT UNLOCKS JUST FINE, BUT THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN IT IS TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW AND OPEN IT FROM THE OUTSIDE.
DRIVING CAR AND SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW FLASHES AND CAR BECOMES HARD TO STEER--COULDN'T TURN.
I OWN A 2012 FORD FUSION VIN:[XXX]. THE 2012 FUSION HAS A SAFETY RECALL 15S18 DUE TO A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE SHORTING OUT AND CAUSING THE POWER STEERING TO FAIL WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. WHILE "MANUAL" STEERING IS STILL POSSIBLE, THE FORCE NEEDED TO EXERT ON THE STEERING WHEEL IS IMMENSE, JUST TO BE ABLE TO CHANGE LANES. WHEN THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT ON A TURN, IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A SERIOUS AND VERY DANGEROUS KNOWN ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS KNOWN ISSUE COVERED UNDER YOUR SAFETY RECALL 15S18 FOR OVER 2 YEARS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE QUALITY AUTO MALL DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES TO HAVE THE SYSTEM LOOKED AT SO THEY COULD FIND THE PROBLEM AND FIT IT UNDER THE TERMS OF THE SAFETY RECALL 15S18. EACH TIME I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE, THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AS IT ONLY HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY, AND I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO ?MAKE? THE POWER STEERING FAIL ON DEMAND. LAST WEEK, THE POWER STEERING ABRUPTLY FAILED AGAIN. I ONCE AGAIN TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE QUALITY AUTO MALL DEALERSHIP . THE VEHICLE NOW HAS EXCEEDED THE 150,000-MILE EXTENDED COVERAGE TO BE INCLUDED IN THE SAFETY RECALL 15S18. MIRACULOUSLY, THIS TIME, THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE, AND VERIFY THAT THERE IS INDEED A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE. NOW, THOUGH, THERE IS NO COVERAGE FOR THE KNOWN ISSUE COVERED BY THE SAFETY RECALL 15S18 DUE TO THE AGE AND MILEAGE OF MY VEHICLE. I CALLED THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER 800-241-3673 ON 06/07/2018 AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION, ASKING FOR ASSISTANCE FROM FORD AS THIS KNOWN ISSUE SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE SAFETY RECALL 15S18 AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED 2 YEARS AGO. A CASE WAS OPENED FOR ME [XXX], AND I WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE A DECISION IN 2 BUSINESS DAYS. FINAL RESULT=WILL NOT COVER UNDER RECALL. FORD FUSION SAFETY RECALL 15S18 POWER STEERING ASSIST.I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN AN ALERT APPEARED ON THE DASH THAT I NEEDED TO SERVICE THE POWER STEERING IMMEDIATELY/SERVICE "AUTOTRAC" I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME THAT THE REPAIR NEEDED STEMMED FROM A RECALL THAT OCCURRED FOR MY VEHICLE.I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED MY CAR FROM, SANTA FE FORD ALACHUA FL. I WAS INFORMED BY THEM THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO HELP ME IN THE REPAIR BUT TOLD ME TO REACH OUT TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AS SANTA FE FORD IS 80 MILES AWAY. I THEN HAD MY CAR TOWED FROM THE MECHANIC'S SHOP TO NICK NICHOLAS FORD IN INVERNESS FL. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT NICK NICHOLAS INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL SHOWING FOR MY VEHICLE AND I SHOULD REACH OUT TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE HOTLINE AND FILE A CLAIM WITH THEM. UPON FILING MY CLAIM WITH FORD DIRECTLY, THEY TOLD ME THAT MY VEHICLE HAD BEEN BROUGHT IN TO SATISFY THE POWER STEERING RECALL IN 2015 IN MIAMI, FL AND THERE WAS NO EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE RECALL. I PROCEEDED TO HAVE NICK NICHOLAS CONDUCT THE REPAIRS. I PAID NICK NICHOLAS $138.57 ON 3/29/18 TO "UPDATE THE SOFTWARE" FOR MY POWER STEERING. I DROVE MY CAR FOR MONTHS AFTER THE SOFTWARE UPDATE. ON 6/7/18 I WAS DRIVING MY CAR TO WORK WHEN THE ALERT APPEARED ON MY DASH SAYING "SERVICE POWER STEERING IMMEDIATELY" AND IT WAS AT THIS POINT I LOST ALL POWER STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO GET MY CAR OFF OF THE HIGHWAY AND INTO MY PLACE OF WORK. I CONTACTED THE SERVICE MANAGER AT NICK NICHOLAS, BRIAN, WHO TOLD ME THIS REPAIR SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. I TOWED MY CAR BACK TO NICK NICHOLAS, AFTERWARD THEY INFORMED ME MY REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE OFFERED TO PAY 250$ TOWARD THE COST OF THE REPAIR, THE SERVICE MANAGER BRIAN WOULD COVER APPROXIMATELY 500$ FOR THE REPAIR, LEAVING ME WITH ABOUT $1,100 WORTH OF REPAIRS TO PAY OUT OF POCKET.
TAKATA RECALL INCIDENT WHERE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS VEHICLE WAS JUMPING OUT OF GEAR , ONE SPECIFIC INCIDENT WHERE TWO PASSENGERS WHERE IN VEHICLE AND VEHICLE JUMPED INTO DEPARTMENT OF VEHICLE BUILDING WHILE CAR WAS IN PARKED GEAR AND POLICE REPORT WAS MADE DUE TO NO ONE PHYSICALLY IN DRIVERS SEAT.
DRIVING AT A SPEED OF AROUND 35MPH, THE POWER STEERING AND ADVANCTRAC WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. DRIVING WAS OKAY. PARKED CAR, TURNED IT OFF AND THEN BACK ON, POWER STEERING SERVICE NOW LIGHT CAME ON AND LOSS OF STEERING OCCURRED. CAR WAS TOWED TO NORTH HAMPTON, NH FORD... POWER STEERING WAS COMPLETELY REPLACED [ALONG WITH 4 BRAKE PADS]. LESS THAN 3 WEEKS LATER, SAME INDICATOR WARNING CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ~50MPH. BROUGHT BACK TO RAYNHAM, MA FORD DEALERSHIP... THEY REPLACED FRONT STRUTS, O2 SENSOR, RESET COMPUTERS... HAD THE CAR BACK LESS THAN A FULL DAY... SAME POWER STEERING WARNING/ADVANCTRAC WARNING CAME ON WHILE DRIVING A BACK ROAD UNDER 30MPH... TURNED CAR OFF, TURNED BACK ON, POWER STEERING COMPLETELY GONE AGAIN. IT WAS COMPLETELY REPLACED LESS THAN A MONTH AGO. NOW EXPENSES OVER $5K FOR REPAIRS, AND THE CARS STEERING IS GONE. WAITING FOR DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE THIS TIME. SEARCHED BY VIN FOR RECALLS THE FIRST GO ROUND, AND NOTHING CAME UP.... NOW IT LISTS AN EPAS STEERING EFFORTS... WHICH THROUGH RESEARCH SHOWS HAS BEEN OUT FOR A WHILE, SO WHY WAS THIS NOT LISTED FOR MY CAR BEFORE!?
WHILE TURNING ONTO A HIGHWAY MY CAR BEGAN TO LURCH. I PULLED OVER AND HAD ASSUMED THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH MY BRAKES. AS A PRECAUTION, I HAD THE CAR TOWED BACK TO MY HOME. I THEN TOOK THE CAR TO AN AUTO SHOP TO HAVE THE BREAKS INSPECTED. THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT THE BREAKS WERE FINE BUT THAT HE HAD FOUND THE FOLLOWING CODES: C1963, C1963-EO, AND C1278-20. I DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR STEERING RELATED ISSUES WITH 2012 FORD FUSIONS. WHILE AT A FORD DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD MY CAR DID NOT APPLY TO THE RECALL AND WAS QUOTED $3,800 FOR THE REPAIR. I WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND THAT THE WHEEL COULD COME OFF WITHOUT NOTICE.
THERE IS A LOUD CREAKING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL AT LOW SPEEDS. IT DOES NOT OCCUR WHEN IT IS COOL/COLD OUTSIDE, BUT OCCURS AT TEMPERATURE 80+. IT GET'S REALLY LOUD AT TEMPERATURES NEAR 100 DEGREES AND ABOVE. I AM CONCERNED IT WILL FAIL WHILE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE CONCERNING THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS). INITIALLY, THE EPS WARNING INDICATOR HAD NOT ILLUMINATED; HOWEVER, AS THE FAILURE PROGRESSED, THE WARNING INDICATOR KEPT FLASHING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS HARD TO MANEUVER IN EITHER DIRECTION WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. A DEALER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,440.
TAKATA RECALL - WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD AND CONTACTED THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN JUNE 2018. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE DEALERSHIP WOULD HAVE THE PART TO FIX THE AIRBAG IN SEPTEMBER 2018, AND WE WERE GIVEN A RENTAL CAR IN THE MEANTIME. IT IS NOW 8/30/2018, WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT WHEN WE CAN HAVE THE CAR FIXED AND WERE TOLD IT HAS BEEN PUSHED TO THE 4TH QUARTER, SO NOW SOMETIME IN OCTOBER - DECEMBER 2018. THE CAR IS SITTING IN OUR DRIVEWAY, NOW WITH A DEAD BATTERY, AND WE PLANNED TO GIVE IT TO OUR NEWLY LICENSED 16-YEAR-OLD. THIS HAS BEEN AN UNREASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME AND IS CAUSING MY FAMILY HARDSHIP.

WALNUT CREEK FORD (1800 N MAIN ST, WALNUT CREEK, CA 94596, (925) 932-2900) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL. RECEIVED A LETTER DATED MAY 1028 THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE AIR BAG INFLATOR AND THAT PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE DURING THE SECOND AND THIRD QUARTERS OF 2018. IT IS NOW JANUARY 2019 AND STILL NOT NOTIFICATION THAT PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. WE ARE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND HAVEN'T ASKED FOR A RENTAL, BUT IT IS REALLY SAFE FOR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. THIS HAS GONE ON TOO LONG.

TAKATA RECALL, TAKATA HAS FAILED TO PROVIDE THE PARTS TO FORD TO REPAIR THEIR DEFECTIVE AIRBAG INFLATORS FOR OVER 1 YEAR. TAKATA'S FAILURE PUTS MY FAMILY & I AT RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY.
VEHICLE WAS SLOWING DOWN FROM 35MPH TO TAKE A RH TURN INTO PARKING LOT. UPON INITIATING TURN, POWER STEERING FAILED & SERVICE ADVANCETRAC WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. FAILURE OCCURRED AS VEHICLE HAD STARTED TURN, CREATING AN IMMEDIATE HIGH-FORCE PULL TO THE LEFT AND REQUIRING CORRECTIVE DRIVER ACTION TO CONTINUE WITH THE RIGHT TURN OR IMPACT CARS IN THE PARKING LOT. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE TURN AND BRING VEHICLE TO A SAFE STOP, ALBEIT VERY DIFFICULT GIVEN GRIP STRENGTH REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN TURN ON STEERING WHEEL WITHOUT POWER STEERING. UPON
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND THAT I WAS ELIGIBLE FOR A RENTAL CAR UNTIL FORD HAS MY PART. UNFORTUNATELY FORD SAN LEANDRO RENTS FROM ENTERPRISE RENTAL CAR AND I CAN NOT RENT FROM THERE. WHEN I TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER THE DEAL HE WAS VERY RUDE AND STATED HE WAS SORRY HE COULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME AND HE HAD NO LOANER FORD CARS AT HIS LOCATION. I ASKED HIM WAS I JUST SUPPOSED TO DRIVE MY CAR THAT IS DANGEROUS HE TOLD ME YES BECAUSE IT WAS MY FAULT THAT I COULD NOT RENT FROM THAT RENTAL COMPANY. I STARTED THAT JOURNEY AT 9 AM AND BY 2 PM I CALLED ALL FORD STORES IN THE BAY AREA CALIFORNIA AND NO ONE HAD FORD LENDER CARS. AT HILLTOP FORD IN RICHMOND, CA AFTER FEELING SO DEFEATED I CALLED THEM AND THEY STATED I WILL BE ABLE TO RENT FROM HERTZ AS WELL. WELL I CALLED ALL HERTZ RENTAL CAR LOTS AND THEY DO NOT CARRY A LOT OF FORD CARS AND NO ONE HAD ANY CARS ON THEIR LOT. THIS ALL HAPPENED IN MAY 2018 IT IS NOW JULY 2018 AND I HAVE NO RENTAL, THE AIRBAG IS NOT FIXED AND I'M STILL DRIVING THE CAR THAT STATES IF A ACCIDENT OCCURS THE AIRBAG WILL EXPLODE. I HAVE NO OTHER MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION AND I HAVE TO WORK AND MY GRANDMOTHER HAS CANCER WHICH I HAVE TO TAKE HER TO ALL HER APPOINTMENTS WHICH SHE IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I'M AFRAID EVERY TIME I'M IN THE CAR OR MY GRANDMOTHER IS BUT WHAT AM I TO DO? NO ONE IS HELPING AND THERE ARE NO AVAILABLE CARS FOR ME. I PAY $371 EVERY MONTH FOR A CAR THAT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND NO ONE TO HELP WITH THIS. I EVEN CALLED FORD COMPANY AND ONE OPERATOR STATED COULD I JUST DRIVE THE CAR SAFELY. TAKING RECALL. MY FORD FUSION 2012 POWER STEERING HAS NOT BEEN FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY SINCE MAY 2018 AFTER I HAD A FLAT TIRE RETURNING HOME ON VIETNAM ROAD FAYETTE MS. IT IS SAYING SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW ON MY DASHBOARD. I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE RECALL UNTIL I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP BY THEN END OF JUNE 2018 AND WAS INFORMED THAT I HAD A RECALL FOR THE POWER STEERING AND AIRBAGS.
ON INTERSTATE 59 ALABAMA CAR WENT DEAD LOSED ALL POWER BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON A SECOND GOT OFF ROAD TRIED TO CRANK TURNED KEY ON AND CAR KEPT GRINDING LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO CRANK WITHOUT TOUCHING KEY HAD TO TURN IT TO OFF TO STOP IT FROM TRYING TO CRANK SET THERE FOR 30MIN THEN STARTED.. GOT HOME 30 MILES LATER. STARTED OFF THIS MORNING DIED AGAIN 2 BLOCKS FROM HOUSE. SAME THING AGAIN
TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE HAD NO COMMUNICATION FROM THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY REGARDING WHEN PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR REPLACING THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. MY CAR HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY GARAGE FOR A MONTH AND A HALF NOW. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAS NO CLUE AS TO WHEN PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. THIS IS A TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE SITUATION AS I CANNOT DRIVE, SELL OR TRADE MY CAR IN THIS SITUATION. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IS BEING DONE TO MAKE THESE PARTS AVAILABLE AND WHEN. I WOULD APPRECIATE HELP AND A RESPONSE IN THIS MATTER.
HAVE FOUND ONLINE THAT THERE ARE TWO RECALLS IN PROCESS ON MY VEHICLE THAT THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT NOTIFY ME OF. ALSO, THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR SURGING FORWARD WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STATIONARY POSITION. THIS POSES A HAZARD OF ME ACCIDENTALLY HITTING ANYTHING IN FRONT OF ME WHEN TAKING OFF.THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVER SINCE I LEASED THE CAR IN MAY OF 2018. I DO NOT REMEMBER HOW MANY MILES WERE ON THE CAR AT THE TIME.
HAVING ISSUES WITH THE ADVANCTRAC FAILURE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED THE FIRST WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS TIME THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY QUOTED ME A $1800 QUOTE TO FIX. THIS IS A ISSUE THAT EVERYONE WITH THIS VEHICLE IS HAVING. I CAME OUTSIDE AND MY TIME HAD WENT FLAT WHEN I PROCEED TO ADD AIR TO IT AND GOT IN THE CAR TO LEAVE. I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO POWER STEERING. AT ALL. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 182,000.

IT WAS A CHAIN-COLLISION. THE LEXUS IN FRONT OF ME SLAMMED INTO AN ACURA, AND I SLAMMED INTO THE LEXUS AT ABOUT 50MPH. SEVERE DAMAGE TO MY CAR (IT HAS BEEN DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS BY INS.) WE WERE SOUTHBOUND ON I-35 NEAR THE CONTINENTAL EXIT IN DALLAS TEXAS ON SUNDAY MAY 13 2018 AT ABOUT 3PM.

WHEN I WENT TO ROY O'BRIEN FORD TO GET MY OIL CHANGED I REQUESTED "THE WORKS" WHICH INCLUDES TIRE ROTATION. I WAS ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT ROTATE THE TIRES UNLESS I REPLACED THE LUG NUTS. DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH THE LUG NUTS SWELLING, THEY WOLD NOT BE ABLE TO PUT THE LUG NUTS BACK ON. IF THIS IS TRUE I BELIEVE THIS POSES A SAFETY ISSUE IF A HAVE A FLAT WHILE DRIVING. ACCORDING TO ONLINE INFO , THIS PROBLEM IS KNOWN TO FORD.
IT HAS BEEN 16 MOTHS SINCE RECEIVING THE RECALL NOTICE. FORD HAS FAILED TO REMEDY THE LIFE THREATENING SAFETY RECALL IN A TIMELY MANNER. BOTH FORD AND THE NHTSA ARE NEGLIGENT IN PROTECTING CONSUMERS. BASED ON FORD'S CONTINUED EFFORTS TO GET EXEMPTED FROM THE RECALL IT IS OBVIOUS THEY WERE NOT TRYING TO OBTAIN THE REPLACEMENT PARTS. THEY CAN DESIGN AND LAUNCH A NEW VEHICLE IN LESS TIME THAN THEY HAVE TAKEN TO NOT REMEDY THE FIX. WHILE DRIVING 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY OUR VEHICLE WAS SUDDENLY SMASHED INTO BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE OTHER VEHICLE SMASHED INTO US AT 45 DEGREE ANGLE AND FROM BEHIND ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF OUR VEHICLE WHILE GOING APPROX. 70MPH ITSELF. THE OTHER VEHICLE HIT OUR VEHICLE PRECISELY WHERE OUR VEHICLE'S OWNER'S MANUAL DESCRIBES OUR SIDE IMPACTS AIR BAG SENSORS TO BE BUT OUR DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AT ALL. FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS SERVICED OUR DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG SEVERAL TIMES, AND IN THIS CASE JUST WEEKS PRIOR TO OUR ACCIDENT AND DEPLOYMENT FAILURE. FORD HAS SERVICED OUR DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, 2 OF WHICH WE HAVE DOCUMENTATION FOR. THE MISSING DOCUMENTATION IS THE RESULT OF A CHANGE IN OWNERSHIP OF ONE OF THE DEALERSHIPS, AND CHANGE IN COMPUTER RECORDS.
I EXPERIENCING A 'THROTTLE BODY' MALFUNCTION. MY VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS IN REFERENCE TO THIS ISSUE, BOTH ONLINE AS WELL AS IN PERSON. THIS IS A HIGHLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM FOR MYSELF AND MY FAMILY. ON THE HIGHWAY THIS CAN / WILL CAUSE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO MANY OTHER MOTORISTS AS WELL. OUR POWER STEERING WENT OUT IN THE CAR WITHOUT NOTICE WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. I KNOW THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON POWER STEERING ON OTHER 2012 FORD FUSION, BUT WHEN I PUT IN MY VIN IT DOESN'T COME UP WITH THIS RECALL. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS AND WE COULD HAVE CRASHED.

DURING SUMMER MONTHS WITH AIR CONDITIONING RUNNING, THE CABIN OF THE CAR FILLS WITH HEAVY EXHAUST FUMES WHETHER THE AIR IS RECIRCULATED OR OUTSIDE AIR. DAILY COMMUTE IS LESS THAN 10 MINUTES AND TRAFFIC IS LIGHT. I KEEP MY WINDOWS CLOSED WHEN AIR CONDITIONING IS ON. I HAVEN'T NOTICED THIS PROBLEM IN THE WINTER. I AM WORRIED ABOUT BEING EXPOSED TO DANGEROUS CARBON MONOXIDE LEVELS IN THE CAR. THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN BOTH ON THE FREEWAY AND SURFACE STREETS.

4/19/18 I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE AND THE STEERING ASSIST FAULT MESSAGE CAME UP AND STEERING LOCKED UP. ( SO I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE TO THE DRIVEWAY- LESS THAN 10 MILES /HOUR) DEALERSHIP SAID THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THERE HAD BEEN SOME KIND OF EXTENSION ON THE WARRANTY BUT MINE WAS NOT COVERED B/C IT WAS TOO OLD OR TOO MANY MILES. I HAD TO SPEND OVER $1300 TO REPAIR THIS. I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO COMPLAIN AND TRY TO GET AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY IF SOMETHING LIKE THIS WAS ALREADY A PROBLEM WHY WOULD THE NOT COVER IT. 4/18/17 I WENT TO LEAVE MY HOME IN MY 2012 FORD FUSION HYBRID AND AS I PULLED OUT OF MY HOUSE AND PROCEEDED TO MY FIRST STOP LIGHT, I WAS IN MOTION GOING DOWNWARD ON A SLIGHT HILL IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND I NOTICED MY BREAKS JUST DROP TO THE FLOOR AND BREAK PEDALS SEEMED TO STIFFEN IN THEIR FLEXIBILITY AND I WAS HEADED STRAIGHT FOR A RED LIGHT. I WAS EXTREMELY TERRIFIED AND DID THE BEST I COULD TO MAINTAIN THE CAR UNDER MY CONTROL.. I NOTICED THE DASH WAS FULL OF RED LIGHTS SAYING 'CHECK BREAK SYSTEM ' AND ABS LIGHTS WERE ON AS WELL ASS 2 TRACTION CONTROL LLIGHTS. HAD WEATHER CONDITIONS BEEN DIFFERENT AND MY SON BEEN IN THE CAR THIS COULD HAVE POSED A THREAT TO OUR LIVES. WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON AN INCLINE, OR THE ENGINE IS UNDER LOAAD, THE TEMPERATURE GAGUE GOES UP, BUT AS SOON AS I COME OUT OF IT, THE TEMPERATURE RETURNS TO NORMAL. I HAVE HAD IT TESTED AND IT IS NOT ACTUALLY OVERHEATING. HAVE A NEW WATER PUMP, THERMOSTAT, SENSOR AND RADIATOR. ALSO, THE CAR SYMBOL ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL IS ON AND ALL DOORS AND TRUNK ARE CLOSED. HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER, THEY'VE DETERMINED IT IS ELECTRICAL AFTER THE "DIAGNOSTIC", BUT ARE STILL TROUBLE SHOOTING AFTER A WEEK TO DETERMINE THE EXACT CAUSE.

I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR THE RECALL #15S18 WHICH IS FOR A LOSS OF POWER STEERING. I WAS QUOTED BY FORD THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND THAT I NEEDED A NEW STEERING GEAR. THEY QUOTED ME $2000 TO FIX IT. COME TO FIND OUT THE PART IS PART OF THAT RECALL, HOWEVER I'M JUST PAST THE MILEAGE LIMIT. I HAVE 152,000 MILES ON MY CAR, AND THE LIMIT IS 150K. FORD WON'T BUDGE WITH THE REPAIR. WON'T GIVE ME A BREAK SINCE IT'S LITERALLY 2,000 MILES OVER. THIS STEERING ISSUE IS A MASSIVE SAFETY HAZARD....AND DOESN'T NEED TO HAVE A MILEAGE LIMIT APPLIED TO IT. THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS FOR RECALLS IS 10 YEARS. MY CAR IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. RECALLS NEEDS TO BE GOOD FOR THAT 10 YEARS, REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE. IF THE NTHSA COULD LOOK INTO THIS AND MAYBE GET FORD TO CHANGE THE RECALL BY ELIMINATING THE MILEAGE LIMIT FOR SAFETY REASONS, I WOULD APPRECIATE IT. I CALLED FORD CORPORATE AND ASKED THEM TO GIVE ME A BREAK SINCE IT'S ONLY 2,000 MILES OVER, AND THEY REFUSED. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD AGAIN. CLEARLY THEY ARE MORE CONCERNED WITH PROFITS THAN THEY ARE FIXING A DEFECTIVE PROBLEM WITH THEIR OWN VEHICLES.
I WAS CHECKING THE LUG NUT TORQUE ON MY WHEELS AND THE 19 MM AND 3/4" SOCKET WOULD NO LONGER FIT. I CHECKED WITH THE TIRE SHOP THAT RECENTLY ROTATED MY TIRES, AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE LUG NUTS WERE SWOLLEN. THEY AND LATER I HAD TO USE A HAMMER TO BANG ON SOCKETS ON SOME OF THE LUG NUTS. I HAD TO BUY REPLACEMENT LUG NUTS AND REPLACE THEM MYSELF. THIS ISSUE WAS FOUND WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, BUT IT COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF A CAR GETS A FLAT ON A DESERTED ROAD AND ONE CANNOT REPLACE THE SUBJECT TIRE WITH THE SPARE. THE ORIGINAL LUG NUTS SURE WERE PRETTY WITH THE TIN CAPS THOUGH.
