Approximately three months ago the ABS system engaged due to applying my brake to avoid pedestrian crossing in front of me. After continuing to drive the brake pedal was very soft and traveled nearly to the floor of the car. The next day the system returned to normal. Several days ago, on 6/25/2022 this occurred once more when a hard brake was needed to avoid a suddenly stopped vehicle and the same problem became present with a soft petal and having to pump the pedal, my wife was the operator this time. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by any entity. I have inquired about this problem from my mechanic and also have researched the problem and see there is a recall > 19S54 also an update to the recall > EA18-002 that states my 2012 Fusion is included in the recall and will now contact the local Ford Dealership to have this concern corrected. In my research I see that is due to the ABS module sticking due to corrosion from the wrong brake fluid. I have had several close calls while operating my car, the recall states Ford advises it is safe to drive. This I strongly disagree with, particularly since my wife uses this vehicle and is not as skillful as I when it comes to mechanical issues such as this. There were no warning lights, or messages, the issue has now cleared up again and brakes are operating normally as before this incident. This vehicle is readily available for inspection on request.
While driving down the road power steering assist came on dash then lost all power to steering, and of course my car says no recalls, I’m stuck with a 17,000 dollar car I can’t fix but still have to finish paying for, I new better then to buy a [XXX] ford too. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
I have a 2012 Ford fusion and once again the power steering went out in my car and now I’m stranded trying to figure out a way to get home there was already a recall once on power steering‘s for this car well for this year of a car don’t know if it was mine or not because it says 04 recalled unfixed problems but obviously this car has power steering problems and now I’m paying $17,000 for a car that I can’t even drive because I can’t afford to have my car fixed thanks Ford should’ve known better than to buy one
Power steering assist fault warning keeps coming on after previous recall.... over past 2 months it's every other week
Dealership said they reset power steering, it had a recall on it and now my power steering is completely out and they refuse to fix it for free when it is a recalled part. Obviously it wasn’t fixed.
my car rolls away in park 2012 ford fusion
Reporting this issue after the fact as it closely resembles the events associated with earlier Ford Fusions documented under NHTSA Safety Campaign Number: 19V904000. After ABS was activated, the brake pedal felt extremely soft and the required braking distance greatly increased. This was initially fixed by replacing the master cylinder and flushing the braking system; however, that fix proved to be temporary. Soft brakes and large braking distance is now an intermittent issue. This car is available for inspection if needed.
Power steering went out while driving, almost caused me to crash.

No power steering Displays Service Advance Trac ad Power Steering Assist. Vehicle has 98,000 miles Dealer says Ford's 15N01 recall extended to 10 years/150.000 miles on this issue but will not cover because car was manufactured in 2011 which exceeds 10 years. It's a 2012 model so in my opinion ten years should still be valid.

My steering wheel want turn at all it’s locked
While I was driving my 2012 Ford Fusion with my two children I lost power steering. Barely made it to side of busy road. The Service Advancetrac AND Power Steering Assist Message displayed AFTER losing power steering. After restarting the car power steering is back and no warning messages. Called local Ford dealer who did not see any recalls for issue or seem to know about this issue. Stated it "shouldn't" be an issue as the car is running like normal and scheduled appointment for a month away.
Car was impacted by previous recall related to the power steering electrical systems and power steering assist fault light. Ford needs to pay for these issues, so many people with this vehicle have had this issue and ford is refusing to pay for it.

AC does not work, the climate control module is the problem. when you switch the AC on it only blows heat. The fix would be a new climate control module.

Traveling at around 30mph on a narrow and curvy road, the car lost a majority of the power steering aide. I was teaching my younger sibling how to drive, and the car lost control and we were heading straight for a deep ravine. Thankfully, the emergency brake was available.
Power Steering Assist Fault and Service Advancetrack error codes appear on the digital dash display. Power steering does not work. The Ford dealership the vehicle was bought at and is serviced at allowed me to drive out of the lot in the car's current state because the vehicle is 7 months out of the extended warranty 10-year recall.

While driving my car I received a warning "service power steering now" and subsequently "service advancetrac". Then my power steering did not function, and the car was extremely hard to steer. In doing research, some Fusions were covered under warranty/recall 15v34000, and/or 15s18. I have been informed that my vehicle is not covered. My car has approximately 72,000 miles and has been well maintained, garaged, with no serious accidents. I suspect that Ford does not want to extend replacement costs on a ten year old car and the problem is more extensive than they have acknowledged.
Power Steering intermittently stops working.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH, the power steering sensor warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

I called Ford at Sam Galloway in Fort Myers and I told them that I have at least 5 recalls but only one is important which is the passenger air bag. I was told that they have availability for September. I asked them, why wasn’t I informed of the recall? They couldn’t answer. I need to know where should I take my car. Thank you
Air Bag Recall has been unfixed since car was made in 2012. The recall was First started on March of 2021. I need to know my rights if the remedy is never made. The 1st issue is I don't feel safe driving vehicle and I can't get out into another vehicle which I understand is my issue but if Ford doesn't care about my safety why should I care what is technically owed to me. I didn't make a vehicle that could kill someone because of sup standard parts. 2 issue is I don't to get into an accident but if I do and survive my car Insurance would total set car because they can't as a company put a part on to a vehicle knowing that the Air Bag is still faulty. I do have gap if it came down to it but what if I didn't have that now Im Financially responsible for things I didn't cause or allow to Happen. All I'm asking is what are may rights. Does Ford as a Company have to help me if so how? Rental Car or Help try get me into another vehicle regardless of my Financial Situation.
My car has had steering issues since purchased a year ago. I had to pay $1600 for a new steering rack as the car is electronic and is not a cheap fix. My car was not included in a recall that was done with the same plant my car was made at and literally 2 days after the end built date. I called and out a complaint in and was trying to get my car included in this recall. This car continues to show steering issue alerts on dash. The car has to be shut off and turned backed in and sometimes don’t bother driving it because it’s nerve racking to know if it will stop working. PLEASE SOMEONE LOOK INTO THIS AND ADD MY CAR TO THE RECALL THE STATS ON THE RECALL AND HOW CLOSE MY CAR IS TO IT SAME PLANT AND A DEW DAYS AWAY, PLEASE PLEASE HEAR THIS. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

Dashboard pop-up stating “Service Power Steering Now” and power steering instantly stopped working almost causing a wreck going within a curve.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, an unknown warning message for the power steering appeared on the instrument panel along with an audible chime. The contact stated that excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle as she moved to the shoulder of the highway. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to her home. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and she was given an estimate for the diagnostic fee and repair. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA for further assistance. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (STEERING) which she linked to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 230,000. Consumer stated steering has a recall and was told to call and report the vehicle not being safe.
While driving, the power steering went out completely which made it incredibly difficult to steer the car. The car's warning lights immediately flashed that the AdvanceTrac and Power Steering were both out. There were no advanced warnings and happened in the middle of a drive. I have taken the car to a dealership that said there was a recall for this exact situation in other 2012 Ford Fusions with the electric power assist system going out which causes the power steering to fail, but my VIN did not meet the recall requirements. I believe the recall should be expanded as this is incredibly dangerous to current owners. I am lucky this happened while I was driving the car as my wife would not have been able to safely move the car to the side of the road. She could have been in a much worse situation where the car was a risk to other drivers on the road.
Driver’s side door latch/handle suddenly became unoperational from the interior of the vehicle. This is a safety hazard — after struggling with the handle to get out of the vehicle, my wife resorted to climbing over the console and exiting out the passenger door. Called local Ford dealer and they say because the 2012 door latch is not under recall, they won’t replace the handle without us paying parts and labor. They expressed no interest in exploring this safety issue short of us bankrolling the cost, despite the fact that there are recalls for this same safety defect on Fusions in other production years. The 2012 door latch should be recalled. The handle is toast - we cannot exit our Fusion out the driver’s door. We are ordering a part to replace the latch, performing the labor ourselves.
I was driving and the advanc Trac and the power steering check light came on and within 3 to 5 minute of both codes flashing, the power steering service now came on and the steering wheel locked up as I was traveling 55mph with traffic all around nearly causing me to crash with other cars within a sharp curve because of steering wheel locking up as I was in fast lane and had oncoming traffic coming from opposite direction. I barely was able to pull into slower lane and had to use all my body weight and strength to maneuver off the highway to safety. A very terrifying event with only a few moments of prior notice of any problem with the car. This needs to be a safety recall, because of such a short notice, the indicator changed to service power steering now faster than I could change lanes to get off of congested highway. This could have been a deadly ending or caused serious injury for me and other nearby motorists had I not immediately turned on my hazard signal and started tapping brakes to warn others of my perilous situation. I have not had any prior indicator lights alerting me of any problem with the steering. And the warning of any problem was less than 5 minutes before it told me to service power steering now and the lock down of the steering wheel. Too short of a notice especially speeding down a congested highway amongst other drivers who were unaware of the dire situation of trying to control my car and not causing a major collision of multiple cars. I have not reported to anyone as it only happened yesterday and is now the weekend but the vehicle is available for inspection at any time. I had to call for someone to pick me up because I was stranded and I shook so bad from the experience. A friend with a tow trailer and my husband loaded the car and brought to my home. Too dangerous to drive. I am going to contact the dealership first thing Monday to have them check it out. I really need my car because I can't afford to purchase another.
Failed Power Steering Assist (Electronic Steering) and AdvanceTrac Assist. Steering wheel hard to turn, and will cause an accident. Current bulletin recall for power assist feature, only applies to Ford Fusions Manufactured after August 2012. I am requesting that the current open recall for Ford Fusions be limited to ALL Ford Fusions from 2010-2012. Mine was manufactured in July, 2012 and is NOT covered under current recall. Many Fusion owners are requesting for this recall to be open for ALL Ford Fusions from years 2010-2012. It has appeared that most 2010-2012 fords fusion owners are experiencing lack of power steering in the electronic steering. Consumer's vehicle is not under the current Ford recalls, as other owners. The rack and electric gears have failed in my Fusion, as well as other fusions as stated. Consumer's Fusion is actually in-between recalls. The recent recalls are for Ford 19S26, and Ford 15S18.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at 59 MPH, the steering wheel locked inadvertently. The message "Service Power Steering Now" was illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the electric power steering assist had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The failure mileage was approximately 159,000.
After Replacing some Calipers, Rotors & Pads I took My vehicle to Meineke Car Care Center in Lawrence, Indiana to have the Brake system Flushed ("Bled") I got my car back and immediately after pulling off I had NO PEDAL! ALMOST GOING THROUGH A FENCE! My Hand Brake saving me intime. I declined to have it reserviced at Meineke and had it looked at by a Local Mechanic I trust. He informed me After Bleeding the Master Cylinder, ABS Module with a Scan Tool and All Calipers that there was still no pedal. Which meant one thing The HCU on the ABS Module is Bad. Which was likely because 2006-2010 Models of the Ford Fusion have a Recall on the ABS/HCU for Loss of Brakes. WHY THE 2012 MODELS DO NOT HAVE A RECALL ASWELL IS BEYOND ME? Even though the 2012 Model Shares ALOT of Key components with the previous year's models. Including the ABS/HCU. Why is the 2012 not included? Obviously Corporations, Federal Regulators & Insurance companys in Kahoots to dampen the blow back to the Automotive industry AT THE EXPENSE OF PEOPLES LIVES!!! DO THE RIGHT THING
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the steering wheel was difficult to turn. The contact stated that the power steering warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer to be inspected. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle hesitated during acceleration. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission fluid was black in color and the fluid level was low due to a leak. The mechanic drained the transmission fluid and added new transmission fluid, then sealed the driver's side front transmission. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 68,882.
After starting the car, the brakes were not working properly--it required a lot of pressure to get the brake pedal to work. The brake light also came on indicating a problem with the ABS. After turning the car off and restarting it, the brakes worked fine again. The same thing happened the next day. That's when we took it for repairs. Our mechanic advised us to take it to a Ford dealer. Santa Monica Ford told us the ABS module and HCU need to be replaced at a cost of $2800 (and because there are delays getting the parts from Ford, it will take at least a couple of weeks). There is a related recall on Ford Fusions up to 2010, NHTSA campaign number: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic). After some research, it's apparent that this is a common problem for Ford Fusion 2011 and 2012 models as well. It looks like the problem extends through 2012 and the recall should apply to those model years as well.
Power steering fails on and off going down the road. Makes it very difficult to control vehicle. says power assist failure, I see this is a problem and has recalls before but when i put in my vin number nothing comes up.
