THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CAPITOL FORD (919 CAPITOL EXPRESSWAY AUTO MALL, SAN JOSE, CA 95136, (408) 426-8298) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE, AND THE HEAD GASKET, CAMSHAFT AND TIMING BELT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE CAM PHASERS MAY BE STICKING AND ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,571.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FUSION. AFTER THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO PARK, IT CONTINUED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PARKWAY FORD-LINCOLN OF LEXINGTON (98 NEW HIGHWAY 64 W, LEXINGTON, NC) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHIFT CABLE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 102,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FUSION. WHILE REVERSING THE VEHICLE AT LOW SPEEDS, THE STOPPED UNEXPECTEDLY; HOWEVER, THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. IN ADDITION, THE "TRANSMISSION NOT IN GEAR" WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LIBERTY FORD PARMA HEIGHTS (6600 PEARL RD, PARMA HEIGHTS, OH 44130, (440) 888-2600) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BUSHING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,200.
WHILE IN MOTION, MY 2014 FORD FUSION ABRUPTLY STOPPED ACCELERATING. THE VEHICLE DID NOT TURN OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE FOR A FEW SECONDS (AROUND 20 SECONDS) AFTER DRIVING OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE, AND AFTERWARDS IT STOPPED ACCELERATING. THIS HAPPENED TO ME WHILE ON THE ROAD AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT TO MYSELF AND OTHERS. IT HAPPENED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. AFTER GETTING TWO DIAGNOSES FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THE ISSUE HAD TO DO WITH THE LOW SIDE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR. IT WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE IT. IMPORTANT TO NOTE IS THE FACT THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT ON BEFORE OR AFTER THE INCIDENT TRANSPIRED. IN OTHER WORDS, THE VEHICLE'S SAFETY SYSTEM GAVE NO INDICATION THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. THIS SAFETY DEFECT IS IN BREACH OF THE NATIONAL TRAFFIC AND MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY ACT. A VEHICLE SHOULD NOT ABRUPTLY STOP ACCELERATING WHILE ON THE ROAD AS IT CAN CAUSE SERIOUS CASUALTIES TO THE OWNER AND NEARBY VEHICLES. THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE'S SAFETY SYSTEM/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON IS INCREDIBLY SIGNIFICANT. THIS SAFETY DEFECT REPAIR SHOULD BE REIMBURSED TO OWNERS OF THIS FORD VEHICLE. *JS
PER FORD RECALL 18S20 7/18/2018, THE BUSHING THAT ATTACHES THE SHIFTER CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION DETACHED FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEGRADED SHIFTER CABLE BUSHING THAT DETACHED FROM THE TRANSMISSION ALLOWED THE TRANSMISSION TO BE IN A GEAR STATE DIFFERENT THAN THE GEAR SHIFT POSITION SELECTED BY THE DRIVER. THE CONDITION ALLOWED THE DRIVER, ME, TO MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER TO 'PARK' AND REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY, WHILE THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT IN 'PARK', IN THIS CASE "NEUTRAL", WITH NO WARNING MESSAGE OR AUDIBLE CHIME. WHILE BRAKES OR THE PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT APPLIED, THIS CONDITION RESULTED IN UNINTENDED VEHICLE MOVEMENT, THE VEHICLE WAS FREE WHEELING. FORTUNATELY THIS CONDITION DID NOT RESULT IN AN INJURY OR CRASH. FORD CLAIMS THAT MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE, (XXXXX), IS NOT COVER BY FORD RECALL 18S20, AND THAT REPAIRS WILL NOT BE COVERED EVEN THOUGH THE FAILURE HAPPEN EXACTLY AS STATED IN THE RECALL LANGUAGE FOUND HERE HTTPS://MEDIA.FORD.COM/CONTENT/FORDMEDIA/FNA/US/EN/NEWS/2018/07/18/FORD-ISSUES-TWO-SAFETY-RECALLS-IN-NORTH-AMERICA.HTML AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE THE VEHICLE WAS BACKING OUT OF A FLAT RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY, FRONT WHEELS TURNING LEFT, MAKING THE TRANSIENT TO DRIVE FORWARD DOWN A RESIDENTIAL STREET (25MPH SPEED LIMIT). THE VEHICLE WAS STUCK IN "NEUTRAL", AND PUTTING THE SHIFT SELECTOR IN "PARK" DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. INSTEAD THE VEHICLE ROLLED FORWARD DOWN THE SLIGHT INCLINE OF THE STREET UNTIL STOPPED USING THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE THEN NEED TO BE HELD IN PLACE BY EITHER APPLYING THE BRAKES OR USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE IGNITION COULD BE TURNED OFF, AND STEERING LOCKED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN "NEUTRAL", ESSENTIALLY FREE WHEELING UNLESS USING THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE ENGINE COULD BE STARTED AND EMERGENCY BRAKE RELEASED WITHOUT INDICATION OR WARNING THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN "NEUTRAL". AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED SINCE ONE WEEK AGO SUNDAY. THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. IN THE PAST YEAR, THE 12 VOLT BATTERY HAS DIED TWICE REQUIRING REPLACEMENT. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED ALL THE LIGHTS WENT ON THE DASH AND IT DID NOT HAVE AS MUCH POWER. (CAR STILL STARTED) POWER STEERING SEEMED INHIBITED. THE 2ND TIME IT WOULDN'T START AT ALL. THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND IT SEEMS THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE SYNC SYSTEM. I DON'T KNOW IF THE CAR HAS A SHORT OR WHAT. FORD DEALERS ARE INUNDATED WITH WORK AND DON'T HAVE TIME TO LOOK AT THE CAR.
MY FUSION A/C CLUTCH BOLT CAME OUT AND THE CLUTCH WHEEL CAME OFF. I WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME AND IT ALL BOUNCED UNDER MY CAR. THE A/C DOES NOT WORK NOW. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE BECAUSE IT SHOULD NEVER HAVE COME LOOSE TO FALL OFF.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WORLD FORD PENSACOLA (6397 PENSACOLA BLVD, PENSACOLA, FL 32505, (850) 476-9050) WHERE THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD PROVIDE A REPLACEMENT KIT FOR THE SAME OEM LATCHES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE LATCH. THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 17V210000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) AND 15V246000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES), BUT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE RELATED TO THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,711.
I STOPPED AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK IN ORDER TO GET OUT AND MOVE A GATE, LEAVING THE ENGINE RUNNING. WHEN I GOT BACK IN AND TRIED TO SHIFT GEARS OUT OF PARK IT DIDN'T SHIFT, IT MOVED BACK AND FORTH WITHOUT ANY RESISTANCE AND THE CAR COULDN'T MOVE. THE ENGINE COULD STILL BE ON. WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE SHOP AND THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE CABLE THAT CONNECTS TO THE TRANSMISSION.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR DISPLAY INDICATED THE VEHICLE WAS IN REVERSE EVEN THOUGH IT WAS PARKED, AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V471000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FUSION. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, THE GEAR SHIFTER REMAINED IN THE REVERSE POSITION. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO COURTESY LINCOLN (LOCATED AT 4010 AMBASSADOR CAFFERY PKWY, LAFAYETTE, LA 70503, (337) 504-7341) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CABLE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 173,000.
STARTED CAR AND NOTICED WARNING LIGHTS FOR ABS, AIRBAG AND STABILITY CONTROL ILLUMINATED ALSO NOTED SYSTEM CHECK WARNINGS FOR SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC, CHECK REAR PARK AIR AND HILL START NOT AVAILABLE. AS I DROVE CAR I NOTICED POWER STEERING WAS NOT WORKING AS IT SHOULD, TURNING VEHICLE REQUIRED MORE EFFORT AND STEERING WAS STIFF. WHEN COMING TO A STOP I NOTED THE BRAKES SEEMED TO LOCK.
I DROVE TO THE POST OFFICE AND PUT MY CAR IN PARK BUT THE CAR DIDN'T SHIFT INTO PARK IT MADE IT FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL AND STUCK THERE. THE ACTUAL GEAR SHIFT WAS IN THE PARK POSITION BUT THE CAR ITSELF WAS IN NEUTRAL. I PULLED MY EBRAKE ON SO I COULD EXIT THE CAR MY CAR WOULDN'T ROLL. WHAT HAPPENED WAS THE DORMAN THAT IS ON THE GEAR SHIFT UNDER MY HOOD HAD CHIPPED AWAY, CAUSING THE GEAR SHIFT ARM TO POP OFF. I REPLACED THE DORMAN, AND EVERYTHING HAS BEEN FINE FOR ABOUT A MONTH.. A WEEK AGO IT POPPED OFF AGAIN AS I ATTEMPT TO SHIFT GEARS AND HAS POPPED OFF EVERYDAY, SEVERAL TIMES A DAY, ALMOST EVERY TRIP I MAKE BUT THIS TIME THE SMALL CREAM PIECE THAT HELPS ENGAGE IT IS THERE, INTACT, AND NOT WORN AT ALL. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING TO HAVE TO PULL MY EBRAKE TO PARK MY CAR, GET OUT AND POP THE HOOD AND READJUST THE ARM AND GEAR SHIFT AND REATTACH IT SO THAT I CAN GET MY CAR INTO THE GEAR I NEED IT IN.
FRONT DOOR LATCH FAILED. DOOR WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED! HAPPEN WHEN PARKED!
TRANSMISSION ( OUTSIDE LINKAGE AND DOUBLE CLUTCH ) BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS OCCUR WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING AND COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE TRIED TO SPEAK WITH OVER 5 DIFFERENT INDIVIDUALS AT FORD CUST. SERV AND AND 4 DIFFERENT PEOPLE AT 2 DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS. THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN FIXED AS RECALLS FOR THOUSANDS OF OTHER FORD OWNERS BUT THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING FOR ME. NOT ONLY WAS MY FAMILY PUT IN DANGER, BUT THE COST OF THESE REPAIRS IS OVER 8500.00. THE VALUE OF THIS VEHICLE IS 4000, AND I STILL OWE 9000. PLEASE HELP ME FIND A WAY TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT IT IS A COINCIDENCE THAT MY CAR JUST HAPPENS TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS YET THEY REFUSE TO FIX MINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V246000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) OR 17V210000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

THE CONTACT HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE HEADLIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER (PRIME FORD AUBURN, 780 WASHINGTON ST, AUBURN, MA 01501, (508) 832-6261) DIAGNOSED THAT ONE OF THE COMPUTER MODULES MAY BE DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FUSION. WHILE PARKING IN A SHOPPING PLAZA PARKING LOT, THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO PARK AND SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL AWAY AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HAD TO BE ENGAGED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT ABLE TO SWITCH GEARS AFTERWARDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000. *TT
MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM REFERENCED IN FORD RECALL 18S20. I SHIFTED MY VEHICLE INTO PARK, AND RELEASED THE BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO BACK UP, AND I NEARLY RAN OVER MY SMALL SON, AS HE WAS COMPING FROM BEHIND. I TURNED THE VEHICLE IGNITION OFF, AND WAS UNABLE TO RESTART IT. I POPPED THE HOOD AND LOOKED AND THE LINKAGE WAS DISCONNECTED FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE BUSHING THAT IS REFERENCED IN THE RECALL THAT CAUSES THIS PROBLEM WAS DISCOLORED AND CRACKED. I CONTACTED MY DEALER SHIP JEFFERSON MOTOR COMPANY, AND THEY ADVISED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL SIMILAR TO THIS FOR MY VEHICLE. WITHIN 30 SECONDS I WAS ABLE TO REFERENCE TONS OF INFO REGARDING THIS PROBLEM FOR MY MAKE AND MODEL ON THE NHTSA SITE. I CONTACTED FORD CORPORATE WHO GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER "CAS15602249". I REACHED BACK OUT TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO, AND THAT THEY WOULD BE HAPPY TO PAY, AND THIS WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE PART NUMBER IS THE SAME FOR THE DEFECTIVE PART FOR MY MODEL AND THE MODELS REFERENCED, I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE HELP.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V471000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL AND RECOMMENDED THAT A DEALER DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT CITED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V471000 (POWER TRAIN) AS A POSSIBLE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE.
