AS I WAS DRIVING OVER 70 MILES PER HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY, THE DOOR AJAR ALERT APPEARED. AT THAT POINT, I REALIZED THAT MY SONS FRIEND HAD OPENED THE DOOR OUT OF CURIOSITY. THE DOORS LOCK SIGNAL WAS RED WHICH MEANS IT WAS LOCKED HOWEVER HE WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR AT 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE, LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT. THE NEXT DAY I CHECKED THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM. WHEN THE DOOR IS LOCKED ON RED, IT ONLY LOCKS FROM THE OUTSIDE AND ANY DOOR FROM THE INTERIOR CAN BE OPENED REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED. I TRIED THIS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS IN THE PARKING LOT. I HAVE THREE CHILDREN AND THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. FOR THE TIME BEING, I HAVE PLACED THE CHILD LOCK ON THE REAR DOORS, HOWEVER THIS OPTION IS NOT AVAILABLE TO THE PASSENGER DOOR. WHEN I LOCK THE DOOR AND IT IS RED, IT SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN THROUGH THE INTERIOR OR EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE.
FILLED UP CAR W/ GAS, CAR SPUTTERED LIKE IT WAS NOT GETTING GAS. CAR SHUT OFF BUT POWER STAYED ON. TRIED TO START CAR AGAIN, & IT SPUTTERED AGAIN. I THEN PUSHED ON ACCELERATOR TO GIVE GAS, AND CAR SPUTTERED AS I LET OFF, THEN DIED, BUT STILL HAD POWER. STARTED CAR FOR 3RD TIME, AND IT CONTINUED TO SPUTTER, I PUSHED ON ACCELERATOR, AND PUT IN DRIVE, AND AS I DROVE ABOUT 20 METERS, THE CAR SEEMED TO STILL SPUTTER. ONCE I CONTINUED TO DRIVE, AND GET UP TO 30 TO 40 MPH, THE CAR RAN FINE. CAR STARTED FINE THE NEXT FEW HOURS, BUT THEN IN THE EVENING IT DID IT AGAIN. I HAD TO PUT HAZARDS ON DUE TO BEING ON A MAIN ROAD AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACELLERATE AND STARTED SPUTTERING AGAIN. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO HAS CAME ON DURING THIS PROCESS. I HAVE TAKEN INTO AUTO SHOP AND IT READS THAT FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR NEEDS REPLACED: CODE P0087 FUEL RAIL/SYSTEM PRESSURE - TOO LOW P2196 02 SENSOR SIGNAL STUCK RICH BANK 1 SENSOR 1 P1450 UNABLE TO BLEED UP FUEL TANK VACUUM. WITH THE VEHICLE BEING WELL MAINTAINED AND BEING LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD, I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE TAKEN IN CONSIDERATION DUE TO BEING VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO NOT KNOWING WHEN THE SPUTTERING OF THE CAR WILL HAPPEN.
VEHICLE OCCASIONALLY IDLES ROUGH AND STALLS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. RESTARTS FINE, SOMETIMES NOT DOING IT AGAIN FOR DAYS AND SOMETIMES DOING THE SAME THING MULTIPLE TIMES ON THE SAME TRIP. USUALLY OCCURS UNDER 40 MPH, AND IS REALLY BECOMING A SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. 28,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER.

FORD HAS NOT PROVIDED A TIMELY RESOLUTION TO THIS RECALL AND HAS NOT PROVIDED A REASONABLE/PRACTICAL TEMPORARY SOLUTION TO CHARGING MY VEHICLE WITH A REPLACEMENT CORD THAT IS AVAILABLE, WITH A DIFFERENT PART # THAN MY CURRENT CORD. THE PART IS AVAILABLE BUT WOULD NOT BE HONORED UNDER THIS RECALL. THAT PART # IS HS7210B706A. AFTER DRIVING SOME DISTANCE (20-30 MINUTES, 15-20 MILES) AND STOPPING FOR A SHORT BREAK (5-10 MINUTES) TO GROCERY SHOP, GET TAKE-OUT, ETC. STARTING THE CAR UP AGAIN AND GOING - IT STALLS. POWER STAYS ON, BUT ENGINE FLUCTUATES RPM IN A LUNGING FASHION BEFORE PUTTERING OUT. CAR CAN RESTART WITH STRAIN ON THE STARTER BUT WILL DO THE SAME THING AGAIN EVEN IF LEFT IDLING IN PARK AFTER 1-2 MINUTES. REMEDY I HAVE FOUND IS TO CRANK IT, LET THE ENGINE SETTLE FOR 5 SECONDS, PUT IN GEAR, LET SETTLE AGAIN, THEN GAIN RPMS FAIRLY QUICKLY WITH A HEAVY ACCELERATION. ONCE IT SHIFTS GEARS THE FIRST TIME IT SEEMS TO BEHAVE.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED, IT WAS STILL UNDER 30 DAY LIMITED WARRANTY WHEN CAR WAS SPUTTERING BADLY AT STANDING IDLE, DRIVING OR IN PARK AND EVEN LOST POWER. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO I TOOK IT TO SHOP. THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 2 AND CHANGED PLUGS AND COIL, HAD TO USE DEALER PARTS BECAUSE CAR REFUSED AFTER MARKET THAT SHOP WAS USING PER WARRANTY COMPANY. TOOK CAR HOME AND AFTER A FEW WEEKS CAR DID SAME THING SPUTTERING EVERY MORNING AND LOSS OF POWER TOOK IT BACK TO SHOP AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG SAID DIAGNOSTICS SHOWS THAT IT HAD LOST POWER BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING THEY COULD FIX. TOOK IT HOME ANOTHER FEW WEEKS/MONTH WENT BY AND SPUTTERING WITH ENGINE LIGHT ON AGAIN, TOOK IT BACK TO SHOP AGAIN MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 2, MECHANICS CHANGED PLUGS AGAIN. A MONTH LATER ENGINE SPUTTERING STARTED AGAIN AND LOSS OF POWER TO CHARGER PORTS IN VEHICLE, LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN WAITED OVER NIGHT TO TAKE IT TO BE SERVICED AT LUNCH BREAK FROM WORK, ON THE WAY TO WORK COOLANT LIGHT FLASHES ON SAYING OVERHEATED FOR ENGINE TEMPERATURE, TOOK IT BACK TO SHOP MISFIRE CYLINDER 2 AGAIN AND SHOP WAS BAFFLED ABOUT LOW COOLANT LEVEL POURED A GALLON OF COOLANT INTO VEHICLE DID BLOCK TEST AND PRESSURE TESTS THEY CAN FIND NOTHING, FRIEND MECHANIC SAYS WITH CODES HE HAS GOTTEN AND HIS EXPERIENCE/ KNOWLEDGE THAT THERE HAS TO BE A GASKET LEAK LETTING COOLANT INTO ENGINE. HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS SINCE END OF JULY 2018

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE TOWED TO PLAZA FORD (LOCATED AT 1701 BEL AIR RD, BEL AIR, MD 21014, (410) 838-3100) TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,033.
TAKATA RECALL
THERE IS AN OIL LEAK AT 67,000 MILES. IT WAS DISCOVERED DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AT FIRESTONE.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid. The contact stated the rearview camera failed to turn on or would temporarily turn on while reversing. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed by an independent mechanic or dealer. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that he would be responsible for the cost of the repair because there were no recalls related to the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000.
AWHILE BACK THE CAR STARTED MAKING STRANGE NOISES, THAT CAME FROM THE FUEL INLET BEHIND THE GAS DOOR, SOUNDING LIKE PRESSURE ESCAPING. PRESSING THE DOOR IN (CAPLESS FUEL TANK) CONFIRMS THIS, AS THE VACUUM IS RELEASED. CAR IDLES ROUGH, AND IN SOME CASES, AFTER REFUELING, IT WILL IMMEDIATELY STALL. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN TO QUITE A FEW FUSION OWNERS, WITH VIDEOS AND FORUMS POSTS TO VERIFY. FORD CLAIMS TO NOT KNOW OF THE ISSUE, BUT JUST TODAY ISSUED A RECALL FOR A SIMILAR PROBLEM FOR THE FOCUS MODEL CARS. IT IS THE 2.0L TURBO OR NATURALLY ASPIRATED ENGINES, AND I HAVE THE 2.0L TURBO. THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN REPORTS OF CARS STALLING WHILE IN MOTION. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON TODAY, WITH A P1450 CODE.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CODE INDICATES CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE. OIL CHANGED ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDATIONS. CAR IS DRIVEN LESS THAN 100 MILES PER MONTH. INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON AND GOES OUT INTERMITTENTLY. CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD.
MY 2015/FORD FUSION IS HALTED IN NEUTRAL BUT THE GEARSHIFT IS STUCK IN PARK AND I CAN'T MOVE IT. IT HAPPENED AFTER I PULLED INTO MY PARKING SPOT AND SHIFTED THE GEARSHIFT TO PARK. I NOTICED THE LIGHT INDICATOR DID NOT GO TO P BUT RATHER STAYED AT N AND WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE THE CAR STARTED MOVING. I HAVE MY VEHICLE'S EMERGENCY BRAKE ON IN ORDER TO PREVENT IT FROM MOVING BUT DUE TO THE TIME OF DAY FORDS IN MY AREA ARE CLOSED AND CANNOT OFFER HELP. MY VEHICLE DOES HAVE A SAFETY RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE AND I ATTEMPTED TO GET IT FIXED IN AUGUST ALONG WITH ANOTHER RECALL BUT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY WERE BACKED UP ON THE PARTS TO FIX THIS ISSUE AND THAT THEY WOULD NOTIFY ME WHEN THEY HAD THE PARTS.
MY CAR HAS 109,227 MILES ON IT. AND THE TRANSMISSION IS SHIFTING HARD AND DELAYING. THIS IS MAKING THE CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND SOMETIMES ACTS LIKE IT DOESN'T WANT TO GO INTO GEAR. OTHER PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ON THE INTERNET. IN A CAR THIS NEW STILL SHOULD HAVE NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE SO SOON. THERE SHOULD BE AN INVESTIGATION AND A RECALL TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME. FROM HIGHWAY TO CITY. AND EVEN WHEN DOING 50 AND SPEEDING UP TO 70 IT STILL SHIFTS HARD.
I RECEIVED A CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT ON TAKATA AIRBAG
Brakes, emergency brake, brake switchs. Backup camera turns black while backing up. And yes it’s available for inspection. Car keeps braking and jerking in the other lane by itself. Emergency brake kept coming on by itself randomly. Also I almost hit someone when my back up camera went black. Yes the problem have been confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Yes it have been inspected manufactures police and insurance representatives. Yes ever single light came on. Advanctrac light. Brake light, emergency break light, abs light and traction control light and tpms and airbags light.
MY CAR SINCE I BOUGHT IT HAS HAD THE SAME ISSUE OF TURNING OFF EITHER WHILE DRIVING OR RIGHT AFTER I GET GAS AND NOT STARTING BACK UP. I HAVE GOTTEN THE PURGE VALVE REPLACED AS THAT IS WHAT THE DEALER SAID WAS THE ISSUE AND ONE YEAR LATER I'M HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. IT SEEMS THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM FOR FORDS SINCE THEY RECALLED OVER A MILLION FORD FOCUS VEHICLES FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT MY MODEL IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST WHICH IT CLEARLY NEEDS TO BE.
DRIVING STEERING ELETRIC WENT OUT WITH OUT ANY WARNING KINGSPORT TN TOOK IT TO FORD THEY TOLD US WHAT WRONG
SAFETY RECALL 18S20 / 18V471 2015 FORD FUSION W/ 60,000 MILES. AS I BEGAN ARRIVED HOME AND PLANNED TO BACK INTO MY DRIVEWAY I PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE, HOWEVER, THE CAR WOULDN'T REVERSE AND SEEMS TO BE STUCK IN GEAR. IT APPEARS THAT THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK BUT THE CAR ISN'T ACTUALLY IN PARK & I MUST HAVE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FROM ROLLING. NOW THE CAR WILL NOT START BECAUSE IT APPARENTLY IS STUCK IN GEAR ALTHOUGH AS PREVIOUSLY STATED, IT SHOWS TO BE IN PARK. ALSO, THE SHIFTER WILL NOT MOVE AT ALL NOW. FRUSTRATING TO SAY THE LEAST. WORST PART IS THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY DO NOT HAVE THE NECESSARY PARTS TO MAKE THE REPAIR BUT HAVE NO EXACT TIMEFRAME FOR WHEN THEY MAY BE ABLE TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION...WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO???
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE THE VEHICLE JERKED AND SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER. I COASTED AS SAFELY AS POSSIBLE TO THE RIGHT LANE AS SOON AS I HAD A 'STOP SAFELY NOW' MESSAGE BLINK ON MY INSTRUMENT PANEL. I ATTEMPTED TO TURN MY CAR BACK ON BUT COULDN'T. AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS I WAS ABLE TO TURN IT BACK ON ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME JERK MOVEMENT AND LIGHT COME ON. I COASTED ONCE AGAIN TO THE FURTHEST RIGHT LANE BEFORE ATTEMPTING ONCE MORE TO RESTART THE CAR. AFTER ANOTHER SHORT LIVED TAKE OFF I COASTED TO A PARKING LOT. WHILE IN THE PARKING LOT AND EVENTUALLY BEING ABLE TO TURN THE CAR INTO ACC IT HAPPENED ONCE MORE AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AGAIN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CHAMPION FORD VOLVO (2502 W 26TH ST, ERIE, PA 16506, (814) 878-2500) WHO INITIALLY LOST THE VEHICLE AND THEN STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT SERVICE THE VEHICLE FOR A WEEK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,005.
MY VEHICLE MAKES A NOISE WHILE DRIVING AND THIS NOISE COMES FROM THE GAS TANK. IT IS LIKE A HONK SOUND. TO STOP THE SOUND, I HAVE TO STOP THE VEHICLE, OPEN THE GAS TANK AND LET THE AIR/PRESSURE INSIDE THE GAS THANK OUT. THE SMELL IS SOME KIND OF BURNT ENGINE OR WIRE. AFTER I HAVE LET THE AIR/PRESSURE OUT, ENGINE WARNING LIGHT TURNS ON FOR FEW HOURS AND GOES OFF. THERE ARE LOTS OF CUSTOMERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE AND REPORTED THIS ISSUE. INFORMED THIS ISSUE TO FORD AND THEY ASKED ME TO GET DIAGNOSTICS DONE ON THE VEHICLE AND CALL THEM BACK. I DID GET THE DIAGNOSTICS DONE ON THE VEHICLE, TECHNICIAN SAID THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE AND HE EXPLAINED ME SOMETHING ABOUT THE PRESSURE WHICH I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND. SO I CALLED FORD BACK AND INFORMED THEM THAT THIS IS THE ISSUE AND ASKED THEM TO HELP ME WITH IT. THEY SAID THEY CANT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY RECALL PROGRAM OR ANY REBATE PROGRAM ACTIVE BASED ON THE GIVEN MILEAGE. I BEGGED FORD TO PLEASE CHECK ONLINE THAT THERE ARE SO MANY CUSTOMER WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. THE SUPERVISOR SAID SHE CANNOT DO ANYTHING. I AM REQUESTING NHTSA TO PLEASE DO AN ENQUIRY ON THIS ISSUE AND HELP THE PEOPLE WHO ARE SUFFERING. THANK YOU.
THE CAR HAS STOPPED CHARGING AND WILL NOT OPERATE IN HYBRID MODE. FORD AND THE DEALER HAVE THE PARTS ARE BACK ORDER FOR OVER 4 MONTHS. THE DEALER IS STATING THAT THEY HAVE 4 OTHER VEHICLES WITH THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN EMERGING FAILURE POINT ON THESE CARS.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 22,000. **TR CONSUMER STATED THE STEERING WHEEL OF MY 2015 FORD FUSION LOCKED WHEN MAKING A LOW SPEED LEFT TURN AT ABOUT 5MPH. MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP WHEN IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING A LEFT TURN ON A CITY STREET AT A BRAKING SPEED OF ABOUT 5 MPH. I HAD NO STEERING CONTROL AND HAD I BEEN GOING FASTER, ON IN TRAFFIC, OR ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH IT WOULD LIKELY HAVE BEEN CATASTROPIC. IN APRIL 2018 I TOOK THE CAR TO MY DEALERSHIP COMPLAINING OF A FREQUENT BUT INCONSTANT "ROAR" COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. AFTER TESTING NOTHING WAS FOUND. I EXPERIENCED THE SAME "ROAR" A COUPLE OF TIMES AFTER. WHEN I LOST STEERING CONTROL I TRIED SHIFTING GEARS FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE AND GOT A VERY SHORT WHEEL RESPONSE, BUT LOST IT WITHIN 3 SECONDS. I PURSUED THIS REPETITIVE PROCESS AND, AFTER A DOZEN ATTEMPTS FINALLY GOT THE CAR OFF THE ROAD.
I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL IN AUGUST CONCERNING THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE. ON SEPTEMBER 9TH, 2018 MY CABLE BROKE AND I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE MY CAR, ROADSIDE SERVICE WAS CALLED AND I WAS ABLE TO GET CAR HOME. CALLED DEALERSHIP LEN STOLERS IN OWINGS MILLS MARYLAND, THEY INFORMED ME THAT PARTS WEREN'T IN YET, BUT THEY COULD FIX MY CAR BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT, NO SUCH DEAL, THIS IS A SAFETY RECALL FROM FORD MOTORS, TO MAKE THINGS SHORT CAR NOT FIXED YET, AND WAS UNABLE TO GET A LONER AUTO UNTIL PARTS CAME IN, THIS RECALL WAS FORD'S ISSUE, IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE, NEED MY CAR FIXED, UNFAIR TO HAVE TO PAY FOR A RENTAL WHEN MY CAR IN IN A SHOP AS A RESULT OF A FAULTY PART FINISHED BY FORD MOTORS

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TAKATA RECALL BRAKES WENT OUT IN CAR AND FORD DEALER SHIP HAD CAR 1 WEEK BEFORE FIXING ISSUE. GOT CAR BACK AND THE NEXT DAY THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER WENT OUT. CAR LOOKS TO BE IN PARK, BUT IT WILL NOT START AND CONTINUES TO ROLL BACK. CAR IS ACTUALLY IN RESERVE- DEALERSHIP SAYS IT CAN BE AT LEAST 1.5 WEEKS BEFORE IT CAN BE FIXED.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I HAD A MESSAGE THAT SAID LOW COOLANT THAT CAME ON AND WENT OFF WITHIN 5-10SECOND , SO I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THIS CHECKED OUT. THEY STATED EVERYTHING WAS OK AND WORK FIND. A WEEK LATER, II WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AGAIN AND A MESSAGE CAME UP AND STAYED ON THAT SAYS LOW COOLANT. I PULL TO THE STORE TO CHECK MY COOLANT LEVEL WHICH WAS A LITTLE UNDER MAXIMUM LINE. I STARTED THE CAR BUT COULDN'T NOT GET IT TO ACCELERATE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SECOND THIS TIME BUT BEING TOWED THIS TIME AND THE COMPANY SAID IT WAS AN INTERNAL LEAK INSIDE THE MOTOR DAMAGING MY CORD AND CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN. SO NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE MOTOR BECAUSE OF THE DAMAGE TO THESE CORD.

THE DOOR WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED. CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALER AND DOOR LATCH HAD TO BE REPLACED. IT IS TO BE DETERMINED IF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL COVER THE COST OF REPAIRS. RECALL # 18S20: HELLO THERE MY SHIFTER CABLE BUSHING WHICH HAS BEEN NAMED IN A RECALL FAILED LAST THURSDAY. I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR AND THE CAR GOT STUCK IN PARK, HOWEVER THE CAR WAS ROLLING AND THE DISPLAY SAID THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL. I PUT THE BRAKE ON AND SET THE PARKING BRAKE BEFORE TURNING THE CAR OFF. I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND SURE ENOUGH THE SHIFTER CABLE WAS VISIBLE AND DISCONNECTED FROM THE TRANSMISSION. I GOOGLED A PICTURE OF THE PART JUST TO CONFIRM AND WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT THE WHITE PIECES AND CORROSION THAT WERE LEFT BEHIND WERE REMNANTS OF THE CABLE BUSHING WHICH LOOKS LIKE A WHITE BEAD. THE RECALL NUMBER IS 18S20 AND THE NOTICE INSTRUCTS ME TO GO TO THE LOCAL DEALER TO HAVE THIS REPLACED. I CONTACTED TWO LOCAL FORD DEALERS AS INSTRUCTED AND THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PART. THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT ME WHEN ITS AVAILABLE AND THE HAVE NO ETA ON PART AVAILABILITY, HOWEVER MY VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVABLE WHILE I AM WAITING. I AM A SINGLE PARENT WITH SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN AND I HAVE TO WORK AND CANNOT AFFORD A RENTAL AND THERE ARE NO LOANER CARS BEING OFFERED. I HAVE TWO JOBS AND I HAD TO RESIGN FROM ONE JOB DUE TO THE INCONVENIENCE AS THE HOURS ARE LATE AND THERE ISN'T ANY TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE AFTER A CERTAIN TIME.

I WAS NOTIFIED OF RECALL 18S20 FOR MY FOR FUSION AROUND MID AUGUST. ON AUGUST 29, AFTER GETTING GAS THE SHIFTER WOULD SHIFT TO DRIVE BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT AT ALL AND THEREFORE WE WERE UNABLE TO DRIVE IT. MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO MANUALLY SHIFT BY TINKERING WITH THE ENGINE SHIFT, AND WE WERE ABLE TO PUT IT IN DRIVE AND DROVE TO NORTH CENTRAL FORD IN RICHARDSON TEXAS. THERE WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS THE RECALL ISSUE BUT THEY WOULD BE UNABLE TO FIX IT OR HELP US BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE THE GO AHEAD FORM FORD MOTOR COMPANY OR THE PARTS. HOWEVER, THEY SAID THAT IF WE PAID FULL PRICE TO FIX IT, $700 DOLLARS, THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO FIX IT FOR US AND WHEN FORD APPROVED THE FIX THEN WE WOULD BE REIMBURSED. WE DIDN'T HAVE THE $700, SO THE MANAGER JIM AYO EXPLAINED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THIS RESULTED IN LOSS OF WAGES FOR A FULL DAY'S JOB AND A CAR THAT IS NOT RUNNING OR USABLE. I AM BAFFLED AT THE FACT THAT IT IS A FORD ISSUE FROM A RECALL BUT I AM EXPECTED TO FIX IT. THE APPROXIMATE FIX TIMEFRAME IS JULY 2018 OR AFTER. I WOULD LIKE A SOLUTION ASAP AS THIS IS MY VEHICLE FOR TRAVELING TO WORK.

ON AUGUST 20TH, 2018 I PREPARED TO PARK MY FORD FUSION SE. I PULLED FORWARD ALIGNING THE CAR WITH THE PARKING SPACE. I PLACED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFT STICK IN REVERSE. I PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL. INSTEAD OF THE CAR GOING BACKWARDS IN REVERSE THE CAR MOVED FORWARD AS IN DRIVE. FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO PEOPLE OR PROPERTY IN FRONT ME. HAD THERE BEEN A PERSON IN FRONT OF ME, MY VEHICLE WOULD HAVE RUN OVER THEM POSSIBLY CAUSING SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH. THE CAR COULD NOT BE DRIVEN AND WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE A MECHANIC STATED THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE BUSHING IN THE TRANSMISSION CABLE THAT HAD TO LEAD TO SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH WEAR TO CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE TO BREAK. FORD PRESENTS THIS AS A BENIGN PROBLEM THAT COULD CAUSE THE CAR TO FAIL TO SHIFT INTO PARK. MY EXPERIENCE WAS THE CAR NOT ONLY FAILED TO SHIFT INTO PARK WHEN I TRIED. MY EXPERIENCE WAS THE CAR WENT IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION FROM THE GEAR I SHIFTED IT INTO. AS STATED THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE DEATH, SEVERE INJURY AND PROPERTY DAMAGE. I CONTACTED FORD THIS MORNING. THERE WAS RESPONSE WAS "WE ARE SORRY." THERE IS NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT ABOUT THE SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE INVOLVED. THIS ISSUE IS THE SUBJECT OF A FORD RECALL: 18S20 / NHTSA 18V471. MY FORD DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THERE WAS A RECALL THAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN BACK IN JULY BUT HE DID NOT SPECIFY WHAT THE RECALL ISSUE WAS ABOUT. FORD IS DRAGGING ITS FEET ON THIS RECALL. FORD IS DELAYING SOLVING THIS PROBLEM. MY CAR CAN NOT BE DRIVEN. FORD IS STATING I MUST $841.00 IN EXPENSES TO REPAIR THIS RECALL AND I WILL THEN BE REIMBURSED. WILSON'S VILLAFORD ON AUG 16, 2018 AT 9:56AM. THE DEARLER STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE MY CAR DIAGNOSED AND IF IT WAS THE RECALLED PART THEN THEY WOULD LET ME KNOW WHAT OPTIONS I HAD. THE DEALER STILL DID NOT HAVE A DIAGNOSIS FOR ME AS OF 10:09AM ON AUG 17,2018 WHICH IS WHEN I DECIDED TO CALL CUSTOMER RELATIONS AT FORD MICHIGAN'S HEADQUARTERS. I HAD A CASE MADE WITH THE FORD HEADQUARTERS WHICH RESULTED IN THE DEALERSHIP NOTIFYING ME THAT I COULD HAVE A RENTAL FROM THEM WHILE THEY CONTACTED THE FORD HEADQUARTERS ABOUT HOW TO MOVE FORWARD. THE DEALERSHIP THEN STATED THAT THIS WAS AN ADVANCED RECALL WHICH FORD HEADQUARTERS IS NOT YET COVERING AND BECAUSE THEY ARE CONTRACTED THEY WOULD NOT PAY OUT OF POCKET TO PROVIDE ME WITH ANY ASSISTANCE TO HELP THE SITUATION. ONCE I ASKED WHY THIS RECALL ISN'T BEING COVERED THEY CHANGED THEIR STORY SAYING IT WASN'T INTACT THE RECALLED PART BUT A CABLE. I CALLED FORD HEADQUARTERS AGAIN AND THEY AND ASKED THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO CHECK IF THEY HAD ANY RESOURCES TO HELP ME SINCE THE NEW PART WAS NOTE YET AVAILABLE. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT FORD WAS NOT GOING TO COVER ANYTHING FOR THIS RECALL YET AND BECAUSE OF THIS I WOULD NEED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR A RENTAL OR TO HAVE MY CAR REPAIRED EVEN THOUGH PER FORD HEADQUARTERS, THERE IS STILL NO REPLACEMENT FOR THE RECALLED PART YET. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
