While driving car it begins to shaking and unable to accelerate than cuts off, will sometimes restart and can drive but does the same thing again, during this process a wrench symbol and check engine light come on. Had spark plugs replaced the first time, still was doing it. Also the throttle body removed and cleaned continued, so replaced throttle completely it’s been 2 days no issue so far, but the car belongs to my daughter and it happened while she was driving car was purchased used a year ago, this is the first time we had this issue not sure if previous owners experienced same issues.
I have been having issues with the vehicle where it will stall. This even happened when I was driving on the NJ turnpike, it stalled while driving and I had to pull over (thankfully I could) to restart the vehicle. It took the dealer 3 weeks to finally figure out the issue and tracked it down to a bad BCM (Body Control Module). I researched this further and found some interesting information. A significant number of 2015 Fusion owners report similar electrical glitches, with some experiencing a complete loss of power to multiple systems, including the center console, AC, and power windows. Diagnostics have identified water intrusion and corrosion in specific connectors, such as C134 near the front bumper, as a root cause, which can be resolved by cleaning and applying electric grease. However, a failing BCM itself is a common diagnosis, especially when multiple systems fail simultaneously and no other obvious cause is found. Replacing the BCM is a known solution, but it requires programming with the vehicle's specific as-built information and PATS key programming to function correctly; a new OEM BCM typically costs around $500. The BCM must be programmed using specialized diagnostic tools like Ford IDS software or equivalent, and the process includes steps like parameter reset, CEI configuration, and battery monitor sensor reset. While some owners have successfully bypassed the BCM using an external relay for specific functions like parking lights, this is a complex workaround and not a standard fix for a failing BCM. Persistent issues, especially those that recur after resets or component replacements, often point to a defective BCM, though other factors like a faulty wiring harness or a bad ground connection should also be ruled out. Given the prevalence of these problems across 2010–2019 Ford Fusions, some owners have advocated for a recall, citing safety concerns.
We purchased a used car for my son to use in college. While driving on the hwy, the car started loosing power and just died on the side of the road. He was towed towed to a Ford dealer and was told he was leaking coolant into cylinder #4, which is a KNOWN PROBLEM AT FORD and an active recall for model years 2016-2018. Our 2015 has the identical failure mode and is not covered in the recall!! We were told $9000 to replace the engine block ... It only has 84,000 miles on it!!!!
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the engine overheating warning light illuminated. The contact stopped the vehicle, and the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that an engine sensor had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred 2 more times. The contact stated that during recent failure, there was a misfire coming from the engine and the engine was idling rough. The vehicle was driven to the same mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that there was coolant intrusion into the engine block, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000.
Cable and bushing detached for a third time. I called ford and they said there was not a recall for this issue. I’ve read in multiple places that this has happened to a lot of ford fusions.
When starting the car this morning, I noticed that the steering wheel was driving kind of stiff and the car was kind of losing control while I was accelerating down the street. A while later in the day, my wrench light came on and then turned off, but a couple of months later a warning light came on saying Hillside assist not available, and then another warning light popped up after that one saying Service advance trac. So I turned the car off and attempted to restart it and the lights stayed on.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the message that the engine was overheating was displayed. The contact stated that the temperature gauge indicated that the engine was hot(H). The contact drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that there was coolant into the cylinder. The contact was advised that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 113,000.
Coolant Intrusion in Cylinder 2 and 3.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion Energi. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel became difficult to turn to the left or the right. The contact stated that the ABS and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the electrical rack and pinion needed to be replaced and recalibrated. In addition, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired due to costs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,008.
The engine (1.5L EcoBoost) has suffered a failure due to coolant intrusion into cylinder 3, which has led to repeated engine misfires. Trouble codes P0303 (misfire cylinder 3) and P0316 (misfire on startup) were found. The vehicle is currently available for inspection, and a diagnosis was performed by two Ford-certified mechanics using a borescope, confirming the presence of coolant in the combustion chamber. The misfires cause rough running, hesitation, and potential stalling, especially during startup and acceleration. This creates dangerous situations in traffic, such as loss of power while merging or crossing intersections, increasing the risk of a collision. Both technicians concluded the engine has coolant intrusion and recommended a short block replacement as the only viable fix. I was quoted approximately $10,000 for the repair. The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer (Ford), but despite acknowledging this is a known issue with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine in various Ford models, they are unwilling to assist with covering the cost of the repair in my case. The Check Engine Light initially came on intermittently and then became constant. Symptoms such as engine misfires, rough idling, and hard starts appeared around the same time, several weeks ago, and have progressively worsened since.
The trunk of the car randomly opens even when in motion sometimes enough to block my rear window and often when I can’t safely pull over right away. This keeps happening over and over. It is not just one incident on one day but multiple incidents over multiple days.
The back up camera has been showing a black screen while the vehicle is in reverse. This has been happening with my vehicle for a few months. Safety of others put at risk because this happens while vehicle s in motion Have not taken vehicle to dealership to have it inspected. My vehicle falls outside of scope of recall currently published No warning messages displayed
My backup camera has started to glitch like the other 2015 fords that are in recall. The screen will get green lines through it, go black, flip horizontal/vertical, flash on and off, it creates more of a distraction than assistance and makes it very hard to back in/out of tight spaces. I have not taken it to the dealership. Right before the other recall was released I called the dealership and told me I’d have to get a whole new camera installed and pay out of pocket. Has not been inspected No warnings or other symptoms prior
The vehicle exhibited sudden loss of steering. Broken bolts on steering rack were discovered and vehicle was taken to dealer. Dealer bluespringsford.com refuses to fix vehicle under recall.
My transmission was serviced under the cable bushing recall - since then the main complaint is the grinding, loss of power, losing gears etc. the rear camera also fails to function over half of the time. this has been validated by fletcher car care. they said the transmission is now faulty. i have seen this issue repeated throughout the other safety reports on your website. this is an overarching issue that should've been addressed by the manufacturer. there were no warning lamps messages or symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. this car is a safety hazard and it is negligence to allow the issue to persist. the problem was reproduced by the shop, fletcher car care - Fletcher Car Care is an auto repair shop located at 38 Heritage Park Dr, Fletcher, NC 28732 - the issues i believe began when the cable bushing began changing the linkage between the shifter and transmission around march. this was when i started having issues with the rear camera - the rear camera at times is full of artifacts and interference because i believe it is in a intermediate (out of full engagement position)
Bolt on power steering unit corroded off
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an engine misfire. Additionally, the vehicle stalled and lost motive power. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that after several attempts, the vehicle restarted. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The contact stated that an independent mechanic inspected the vehicle and became aware of white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. The vehicle was diagnosed with coolant intrusion and engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 149,000.
In March of 2022 the engine failed on the vehicle. When I took it in for repairs, at the dealership where we purchased the car, I was told the engine needed to be replaced because coolant had leaked into the motor. I was told when the repairs were made I would not have this problem anymore. Three years later the same issue has occurred again and I took the vehicle back to the same dealer. This time they are trying to blame maintenance; saying there is sludge in the motor. The problem with this is the oil was recently changed (within 3500 miles) and the mechanic at the dealership did not identify any sludge or coolant in the oil. The dealership was told by the service engineer not to repair the motor. I looked on line and there reddit forums from people across the country having the same problem. What they are saying is the same thing the dealer told me. Ford is blame the customer claiming lack of maintenance. This is just a talking point because what everyone is being told is the same. Ford needs to be place under investigation. Law suits against Ford are documenting Ford knew the ecoboost engines had defects from the start and do not have a way to fix the design flaw and are refusing to make amends. Additionally these lawsuits are documenting the band aid repairs Ford is doing is simple to push the problem off and later not claim responsibility when the same malfunction occurs. The owners of Ford cars with ecoboost engine are out tens of thousands of dollars and have endure hardship inflicted by Ford that go beyond the vehicle damages. Ford should be placed under federal investigation and I believe it is possible criminal conduct may have occurred given the position Ford has taken in and its continued failure to make amends.
The vehicle started to over heat because the vehicle is loosing antifreeze through the head/engine block wall. This is a 1.5L Ecoboost motor. I had the water pump and radiator lines replaced 2022 by Gorilla Techs, but that did not fix the issue. It has progressively gotten worse over the course of two years. Other Ford owners, they have had engine repairs covered. However, the recommend solution is to replace the engine with a long block engine. This repair is a result of poor engineering. A new engine from Ford is priced at $6,000 and does not include labor or other one time use parts and fluids.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. While the contact's wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an engine misfire with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with coolant intrusion, which caused engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,500.
My rear backup camera has been malfunctioning for several months now. When it decides to work at all, it flips the image from left to right and vice versa. Other times the backup camera doesn’t even work. And sometimes it has yellowish lines going through the images which distorts other cars behind me even more. Ford needs to fix this at no cost to me. There’s a recall on their other backup cameras in other Ford models. Not sure why the 2015 ford fusion wasn’t included in this recall because it’s doing the same thing - flipping the images, which makes it confusing when I’m backing up my car.
Over the course of 3 weeks I started to notice a strong smell of gasoline after filling my fuel tank that lasted for about the first quarter of the tank. I did look around the car and under it to see if I could observe a leak, but saw nothing upon visual inspection. After about 3 weeks I observed a very strong smell of gasoline when I walked out to the car in the morning and observed gasoline on the rim of the passenger side tire as well as on the ground by the tire. At that point I looked up recalls on the 2015 fusion and did find one on the fuel system but was advised that it is not active on my vin. I took my car to a local shop where they found that both fuel senders were wet and leaking thus causing the fuel leak.
Unknown. La palanca de cambios no funciona. No se pone en parking y cuando el carro se apaga no quiere prender.
When placing the car in reverse the rear backup camera does not show image and will display a black screen or a message the camera is not working and to contact a dealership. Camera worked correctly until Jan 2025. Randomly, the rear backup sensors, while camera shows black screen, will not alert the driver to being object in its path. At other times when the screen is black, the sensor will alert the driver. If you get the "Camera Not Working" message, the rear backup sensors will alert the driver to objects in its path.
Driver side sun visor fell off hinge and was dangling from wire that powers vanity mirror. Plastic part holding it up seems to have fallen off. No screws there. Had to hold it in one hand until I could pull over and figure out how to stow it.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid. The contact stated that after his wife had shifted into reverse and depressed the accelerator pedal, there was an abnormal sound coming from underneath the vehicle and the steering wheel failed to turn to the right or the left. The contact stated that his wife turned off and restarted the vehicle and the power steering functionality had not returned. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the power steering gears, rack, and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V250000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Engine overheats to cause enough damage to loose all compression and power then fail to restart mid-drive even at highway speeds in passing lanes next to a semi tractor trailer. Had to have vehicle towed in after walking ½ mile to gain enough service to call for help/tow truck. Engine then requires replacement to run.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. While the contact's brother-in-law was parking the vehicle, the gear shifter was shifted into park(P); however, after exiting the vehicle, the vehicle rolled backward. The contact's brother-in-law enabled the parking brake to stop the vehicle. The contact's brother-in-law noticed that the gear shifter had independently shifted into neutral(N). The dealer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed of an undisclosed recall repair for the failure; however, the VIN was not included. The contact was informed that the shifter bushing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 146,695.
The Telematic Control Module/Unit failed and it is unavailable through Ford. I am told that Ford no longer makes the part. The part controls the many of the car's operations vital for safe driving. (Part No. HS7z14G229EH)
3 times in the past 4 days my trunk has opened while the car has been turned off. Thankfully not while I was driving. Not Yet anyway. The doors have unlocked on their own while driving and parked. And the keypad light stays on all the time. There has been no warning lights on the dashboard. It is a safety concern, cause if it did that while driving (I’ve heard of others this has happened to) things can fly out of the trunk and cause someone to wreck. Or my car could get stolen. It’s at a ford dealership now, they’ve had it for 28 hrs and still don’t know what’s wrong with it or how to fix it. I’ve read where this has happened to many ford vehicles and no one has answers nor how to fix it. Which that makes no sense to me. I don’t understand how this isn’t already a safety recall. And what are people like me suppose to do, drive around and hope for the best since even the ford dealership apparently can’t fix it. So please help!!
I changed my battery at 105,000 miles with everything working fine electronically for my 2015 Fusion. Been a great car up to this issue. After installing the correct battery, the power steering turned off and hasn't come back on. Took to dealership, they replaced a connection cable at their suggestion and still were unable to reset the power steering. That's where it should have ended tho. They want me to further come back to run more tests??? Something seems very defective to me and from social media reports of other Fusion owners and the nhtsa investigations, a power steering recall should be warranted. I have been a car owner for 40 years and never experienced this inconvenience. I think Ford is getting away with inferior electronics and passing the expense back to the consumer. It should be an easy fix but not one at $4000 (getting a new steering rack) just to change a battery?? :-( Please help!
I own a 2015 Ford Fusion with over 160,000 miles on it. I noticed a substantial loss of coolant inside the car and decided to take it to a Ford dealership in October. I was told that my coolant was internally leaking into the combustion chamber. I decided to research why this issue occurred only a few weeks after buying the vehicle. I discovered that the 2015 Ford Fusion's engine, the 1.5 Liter EcoBoost engine, has an issue where the cylinder walls are too thin. This leads to a crack in the wall, which causes coolant loss and possible overheating. So, with that in mind, I was cautious with driving it long distances in fear of overheating. However, on Friday, November 1st, because of the coolant intrusion, the car overheated and now cannot be driven and needs to be repaired by replacing the engine.
In November 2024 my back up camera failed. The dealership diagnosed a failed camera and installed a new one for $ 800. In July 2025 the camera failed again. It was under warranty but the dealer diagnosed the issue as a low power failure and replaced the battery for $ 600. This week the back up camera is beginning to intermittently fail with a message "see dealership for repair". I feel I may have spent $ 1400 for unnecessary repairs as the issue still exists. My Ford Fusion Hybrid is not on the list of Fords covered under the current recall.
The contact's girlfriend owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at approximately 30 MPH, the transmission hesitated to shift into the intended gear; while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle independently moved. She had to pull to the side of the road for several minutes and shut the vehicle off in order for the vehicle to return to normal operation. No warning light was illuminated. The failure occurred on several different occasions. The contact did research and was made aware of the NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to get a diagnosis; the diagnosis was unknown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while the vehicle was at the dealer for a scheduled tire rotation, the contact was informed that the lug nuts were swollen. The contact was informed that the lug nuts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that a torch was used to remove the lug nuts. In addition, the contact was informed that the failure was a known issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after shifting into reverse, the transmission shifter became inoperable, and the transmission could not be shifted into gear. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission shifter cable bushing had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (POWER TRAIN). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 151,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, there was white smoke intermittently coming from the exhaust pipe. No warning light was illuminated. The failure occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was coolant intrusion into the cylinder and that the engine needed to be replaced. The mechanic made the contact aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V209000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the engine was louder than usual, and the vehicle was running rough while driving at various speeds and idle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with low compression in cylinders #2 and #3 with a PSI of 801 in cylinders 1 and 4 with a PSI of 100. The dealer informed the contact that the deal PSI level was 145. The failure related to Technical Service Bulletin: 19/2375 - NHTSA ID Number: 10169884 (Engine and Engine Cooling) then referred the contact to the manufacturer to confirm inclusion. The dealer stated that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.
The vehicle's backup camera is experiencing intermittent functionality issues, failing to provide a consistent display. This sporadic operation poses a significant safety risk when the vehicle is in reverse.
I've had recurring issues of brake failure. Thankfully, none of the issues have resulted in fatality, injury or major damage. My most recent issue happened as I was leaving my job. I depressed the brake to put the car in drive and the brake went down almost to the floor. I hesitantly drove the car to an auto shop near my home and was able to have the brakes serviced. I have included that invoice (10.02.24) along with some invoices from previous issues (09.07.17) (04.12.18). There have been recalls made concerning the break line in Ford Fusions that were released around the same time as mine (Recall #23S12). I question if, although my vin number does not show in the recall search, my car should have been included within this recall. I'm concerned and I would like to know if I have any options toward reimbursement for these repairs and/or a complimentary inspection to make sure there is indeed no safety issue that is connected Recall 23S12 or any other Ford brake line recall. Please review this information and follow up at your earliest convenience. Thanks
The backup camera only works intermittently causing blind spots. I have not had the car/camera inspected but can make it available upon request. The problem first appeared about 1 year ago.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated with the temperature gauge indicated that the engine was hot(H). The contact later checked the coolant level and discovered that the coolant level was low; the coolant was topped off and the check engine warning light disappeared. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact's wife took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was determined that there was a misfire in cylinder #2. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the VIN for the engine. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 167,000.
Power steering failed exactly as under recall 15S18 and 15N01 - however they say my car isn't included in the recall. The car is still at the dealer and broken, so the part is available at this moment. The steering warning came up while driving. Upon restarting, the car would only work in manual mode. The dealer has confirmed the problem. I have not contacted Ford yet, only talking to the dealer. There was no warning other than the one that came up when the failure occurred.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after parking in the driveway and shifting to park, the contact exited the vehicle with the engine idling and the front driver’s side door opened. The contact walked down the driveway to retrieve the mail and suddenly the vehicle erroneously rolled down the driveway. The opened door struck and knocked the contact to the ground. The contact reached inside the vehicle and depressed the brake pedal to stop the vehicle from rolling while his wife engaged the parking brake. During the failure the contact sustained a separated right shoulder. No medical treatment was received. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were contacted but no assistance was provided. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 121,000.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 100,000.
Check engine light, Code P0303. #3 cylinder misfire. Coolant leaking into cylinders 2 & 3 due to faulty casting of the short block. This was a known defect of 2015 Ford Fusion 1.5 liter EcoBoost engine by Ford Motor Co. No recall was issued. I was not notified of this defect until it happened. Ford covered repairs for some vehicles but not mine stating I was not within the required timeframe. I had to pay $7200.00 to repair this problem. I only had 80,000 miles on the car. I feel a recall should have been issued on all these cars since Ford knew about the defect. Please look into this and require Ford to issue a recall. Thank you.
Complete loss of power steering/ABS/Traction Control
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was heavy white smoke coming from the exhaust pipes before the vehicle shut off unintendedly. Rear camera will go black and say contact dealer. Other times images will appear distorted or will be reversed where left and right are mixed up
When it gets warm outside, the seatbelt on the driver's side freezes in the resting position, so I cannot buckle up before I drive. It takes a while before I can use the buckle. This means I either drive unsafely to a meeting or wait for the inside of the car to cool down enough to buckle up to drive. I have let Ford know (case number: CXH-02550071-N4S4M4).
