ENGINE TEMP NEARS RED BUT DOESN'T OVERHEAT. SOME WHITE SMOKE COLD STARTING. I TOLD DEALER ABOUT THIS BUT SINCE IT ONLY WAS DURING COLD START IT WOULDN'T REPLICATE. WARRANTY LAPSED. OVERHEATING MORE OFTEN SO I TOOK IT TO DEALER. DECLINED DUE EXPIRATION OF WARRANTEE. RECENTLY ENGINE OVERHEATED AND STARTED TO SHUT DOWN ON A FREEWAY IN TRAFFIC. SLOWING VEHICLES IN TRAFFIC ARE DANGEROUS. ENGINE LIGHT CODES READ MISFIRE CYLINDER 2. THE CAR IS FAMILY'S ONLY SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION. WE CANT AFFORD TO PURCHASE A NEW ENGINE FROM FORD AND FORD CANT GUARANTEE A NEW MOTOR WONT REPEAT THESE ISSUES. OUR LOCAL DEALER DUPED US BY NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS. WORRIED THAT THIS CAR WILL LEAVE ME STRANDED IN THE HEAT, BANKRUPT US, OR BE THE CAUSE OF AN ACCIDENT.
STARTED TO LOSE COOLANT, COULDNT SEE ANYWHERE THAT IT WAS LEAKING, OR ANY SIGNS OF LEAKING. REFILLED THE COOLANT RESVOIR. DROVE TO WORK THE NEXT DAY, AND WHEN I GOT OFF OF WORK I TRIED TO START THE CAR AND IT WOULDNT FIRE. ONCE IT WAS MOVED ALL OF THE OIL HAD BEEN LAYING ON THE GROUND WHERE THE CAR WAS PARKED. DONE ALOT OF RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT THE CYLINDER HEADS ARE JUNK AND WAS LOOSING COOLANT IN TO THE CYLINDER. SO NOW IM STUCK WITH A $200 A MONTH PAYMENT FOR SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED THAT HAS HAPPENING TO THOUSANDS OF CARE WITH THE 1.5L ECO BOOST TURBO... AND THERE STILL IS RECALL??? THE CAR DOESN'T HAVE 130,000 MILES YET.

I ENTERED MY VEHICLE AND CLOSED THE DOOR. WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT A WARNING SOUNDED. I LOOKED AT THE DASH AND THE WARNING LIGHT INDICATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS OPEN. I PULLED THE DOOR SHUT AND ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE IT BUT IT WOULDN'T STAY SHUT. I PUT THE CAR IN "PARK", GOT OUT AND ATTEMPTED SEVERAL MORE TIMES TO CLOSE THE DOOR. NO MATTER HOW I TRIED, THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH. I WAS 53 MILES FROM HOME AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET THERE WAS TO DRIVE. I THEN TOOK AN ADJUSTABLE DOG LEASH, SLIPPED IT THROUGH THE ARMREST ON THE DOOR, THEN LOOPED IT AROUND THE STEERING COLUMN. THIS PROVIDED A MEANS FOR ME TO HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED WHILE I TRAVELED ON A HIGHWAY, THEN THE INTERSTATE TO GET HOME. THIS WAS VERY DISTURBING TO ME BECAUSE THE LATCH WAS FINE WHEN I DROVE FROM HOME. WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE WHEN THE LATCH FAILED.
WHEN PUSHING THE START BUTTON, THE CAR STRUGGLES TO START. THE BATTERY WAS CHECKED AND NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND. SOMETIMES THE CAR DOES NOT DETECT WHEN THE DRIVERS SEATBELT IS NOT ON WHILE DRIVING OR SITTING STILL. THE BEEPING SOUNDS THE CAR TYPICALLY MAKES WHEN BACKING, ALERTING THE DRIVER IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SOUND NOW. OTHER BEEPING NOISES ARE ALSO DIFFERENT SOUNDS AND PITCHES. THE ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON AND OFF. FAINT SCRATCHING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. WINDOWS WILL GO DOWN BY THEMSELVES.
THE ENGINE IS MISFIRING, SAID 'ENGINE 2 CYLINDER MISFIRING' PROBABLY COOLANT LEAK. AND I CANT AFFORD TO PAY 5000 FOR A NEW MOTOR.
THE ANTIFREEZE IS LEAKING INTO THE CYLINDERS, FOULING OUT THE SPARK PLUG CAUSING THE ENGINE TO MISS FIRE. WITH THIS HAPPENING, IT'S USING ANTIFREEZE BURNING IT OUT THE EXHAUST PIPE , WHICH CAUSES THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS, I HEARD IT CAN BLOW THE ENGINE AND IT'S EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE
THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH WON'T LATCH. I HAVE NO WAY TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IT WAS SITTING IN THE DIRECT SUN LIGHT, 105 DEGREES IN ARIZONA.
MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE (THANK GOD) AND WHEN I STARTED IT, 3 ALARMS CAME ON AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. HAD THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING, I WOULD MOST CERTAINLY BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THE ISSUE IS THE ENTIRE ELECTRONIC STEERING SYSTEM FAILED. WHOLE COMPONENT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. EXACTLY ONE YEAR TO THE DAY AFTER THE LAST ELECTRICAL FAILURE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT THE LOCAL DEALER ACE FORD (487 MANTUA PIKE, WOODBURY, NJ 08096) FOR MAINTENANCE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE LUG NUTS ON ALL FOUR WHEELS WERE SWOLLEN AND UNABLE TO BE REMOVED USING THE LUG TOOL SUPPLIED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT ALL THE LUG NUTS NEEDED BE REPLACED. THE LUG NUTS WERE REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.

THE TRUNK RANDOMLY OPENS ON IT'S OWN WHILE PARKED.
MY 2016 FORD FUSION 1.5L ECO BOOST ENGINE WITH 62,000 MILES IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP NEEDING A NEW ENGINE. ONE DAY I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR STARTS SHAKING WHEN ACCELERATING AND LOSS OF POWER TO THE WHEELS. SINCE I WAS ON A HIGHWAY I TRIED TO GET TO THE NEAREST REPAIR FACILITY, BUT AFTER 3 MILES MY CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND MY CAR HAD NO POWER FROM THE ENGINE. THE REPAIR FACILITY ADVISED I HAVE COOLANT IN MY CYLINDERS DUE TO DESIGNED FLAW FROM FORD, FORD'S FACTORY BULLETIN 19-2139 DATED NOV 21, 2019 ADVISES TO REPLACE ENGINE. SPOKE WITH FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS REPRESENTATIVE AND SUPERVISOR AND THEY WILL NOT HELP SINCE THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY IS 2,000 MILES OVER. MY EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER COST OF REPAIR DUE TO FORDS FACTORY BULLETIN REGARDING THIS ISSUE. FORD RECALLED THE 2017 FORD ESCAPES FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT NOW I AM FACING A $7,000 ENGINE REPLACEMENT OR $14,000 NEGATIVE EQUITY IF I TRADE IN. I NEED HELP
I WAS DRIVING MY 2016 FORD FUSHION THE BREAKS HIT THE FLOOR AND WOULDN'T BREAK ANY MORE I WAS AROUND THE CORNER FROM DISCOUNT TIRE AND SERVICE CENTER AND TOOK THE CAR TO GET SERVICED ON 08/12/2020 THEY FOUND ALL THE FLUID WAS OUT AND THE LEFT BRAKE HOSE WAS LEAKING THEY SERVICED MY CAR REPLACED THE HOSE REFILLED THE FLUID AND RETURNED MY CAR THE NEXT DAY ON 09/18/20 MY BRAKE PEDAL HIT THE FLOOR AGAIN LUCKILY I WAS PARKED AS I TRIED TO REVERSE I NOTICED THE BRAKE PEDAL WASN'T WORKING I COULDN'T DRIVE THE CAR NOMORE I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK. I TOOK AGAIN TO DISCOUNT TIRE CENTER AND THEY NOTICED MY RIGHT HOSE HAD POPPED THEY STATED THERE IS NO REASON WHY THEY SHOULD BE LEAKING OR COMING OFF ON SUCH A NEW CAR IT'S A 2016 FORD FUSHION I'M CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY I'M SCARED TO DRIVE THE VECHILE I'VE READ A LOT OF COMPLAINTS SAYING PEOPLE HAVE GOT INTO CAR CRASHES BECAUSE OF BRAKE PROBLEMS WITH THE FORD FUSHION I'VE BEEN VERY BLESSED I DON'T WANT NOTHING ELSE TO HAPPEN TO ME OR ANYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD. FORD NEEDS TO TAKE ACTION INTO THIS PROBLEM THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WE ARE TALKING ABOUT INNOCENT LIFE'S I'VE BEEN LUCKY TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND NOT CRASHING INTO ANYBODY LET'S STAND TOGETHER AND TAKE ACTION IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH YOUR FORD FUSHION SPEAK UP! MY 2016 FORD FUSION IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE SIFTER CABLE WHERE THE CAR CAN STAY IN ANOTHER GEAR BUT THE CAR SIFTER IS IN PARK. I GOT HOME AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND MY CAR STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS. THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL FOR THE SIFTER CABLE BUSHING. I LOOKED AT MY CAR SIFTER CABLE AND THE BUSHING IS GONE AND I CAN'T GET MY CAR OUT OF REVERSE. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN AND FORD DOESN'T WANT TO DO ANY THING. I CALLED FORD FOR HELP AND THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NOTING THEY CAN DO TO HELP ME. IF THEY KNOW THEY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE BUSHINGS WHY DON'T THEY INCLUDE THE 1.5 ENGINE BECAUSE ACCORDING TO THEM ONLY THEY 2.5 ENGINE HAS THAT PROBLEM. I AM SCARED THAT MY CAR IS GOING TO ROLL AWAY AND HIT SOMETHING OR SOMEONE I HAVE TO HAVE MY CARS E BRAKE ON JUST TO HELP ME FEEL SAFER AROUND MY CAR.

THE NEXT DAY, THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TRANSMISSION SHOP AND WAS INFORMED ABOUT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V362000 (POWER TRAIN) WHICH THE MECHANIC LINKED TO THE FAILURE. THE NEXT DAY, THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FORD GROVES (501 N KINGSHIGHWAY ST, CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO 63701) WHERE THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE GEAR SHIFTER SEIZED UPON ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE. SHE THEN FORCED THE SHIFTER INTO PARK HOWEVER, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SHOWED THAT THE VEHICLE REMAINED IN NEUTRAL. THE CONTACT'S WIFE THEN TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE TO BE DIAGNOSED BY A LOCAL DEALER. HE WAS ALSO GIVEN A CASE NUMBER. THE CONTACT WENT TO HARRISON FORD (820 N MAIN ST, WELLINGTON, OH 44090) WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THEY NEEDED TO SEE THAT THE CABLE BUSHING WAS FRACTURED IN ORDER TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V471000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,006.
While I am driving, the "Service AdvanceTrac" light comes on and flashes between these two error messages: "Hillside Start Assist Not Available" "Check Rear Park Aid" While these lights are flashing, the ABS light, airbag light, and the stability control light all come on and stay on, as well as the power steering goes out. This happens at random times, driving on expressways, in local stop and go traffic. In addition, the times the lights are not blinking and power steering is out, the brake pulses when you use it as if the ABS system was triggered- but for no reason. The road is fine, driving conditions are perfect--- no reason at all for it to happen. I bought the car from Dana Ford in August 2020 and brought it in over 6 times for this problem. Dana Ford had my car for well over 6 of the first 9 months I had it, and it was never fixed while under warranty. They claimed when they took it on a test drive, there was no problem, even though they told me they can see all the error messages the car gives on their computers and even though I have many many pictures and videos of the problem. I"m driving around with kids in the car, and my steering goes out, and if that isnt happening, my brakes are pulsing and skipping. Dana Ford jerked me around until my warranty was up---never fixing it.

THE CONTACT HAD TO LEAVE HOME FOR A SECOND TIME AND SHIFTED THE GEAR INTO DRIVE AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO ENGAGE INTO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. AT 78,000 MILES MY CAR HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON UPON STARTING THE ENGINE FOLLOWED BY A DROP IN POWER UPON STARTING IT. THE CHECK ENGINE TURNED OFF ON MY WAY TO THE SHOP, AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHY IT CAME ON AND TURNED OFF. ABOUT 1 WEEK LATER IT CAME ON AGAIN AND I HAD IT CHECKED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A 'CYLINDER 1 MISFIRE' WITH A ERROR CODE P0301. I HAD THE SPARK PLUGS AND IGNITION COILS ALL REPLACED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER AFTER EXPERIENCING A DROP IN POWER UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE. AND SHORTLY TURNED OFF AGAIN. I THEN RECEIVED A 'HIGH COOLANT TEMPERATURE' WARNING WHILE DRIVING, AND MADE A STOP TO REFILL MY COOLANT HOUSING TO THE 'MAX' LINE. NOT EVEN 2 WEEKS LATER I RECEIVED THE SAME 'HIGH COOLANT TEMPERATURE' WARNING WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE INTERSTATE FOLLOWED BY SUDDEN EMISSIONS OF WHITE SMOKE OUT OF THE EXHAUST PIPES. THERE WAS NO 'CHECK ENGINE LIGHT' ON DURING OR AFTER THIS INCIDENT. I PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, THEN HAD IT TOWED TO A TRUSTED MECHANIC. HE DETERMINED THAT THE COOLANT MAY BE LEAKING INTO THE CYLINDER 1 CAUSING IT TO MISFIRE AND EVENTUALLY LEADING TO A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. THIS CAR WAS METICULOUSLY CARED FOR AND MAINTAINED AND SOMEHOW HAS A BLOWN HEAD GASKET BEFORE REACHING 80,000 MILES. THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE IS STILL TO BE DETERMINED.
I AM FRUSTRATED BECAUSE I READ ONLINE THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THIS SINCE 2018 AND I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. TODAY, I ENDED UP STUCK IN MY CAR STUCK WITH MY 3 YEAR OLD SON IN THE BACKSEAT FOR 2 HOIRS NOT BEING ABLE TO MOVE BECAUSE MY CAR WOULD MOVE IF I WAS NOT STEPPING ON THE BRAKE. IT TOOK 2 HOURS FOR THE TOWING COMPANY TO ARRIVE. A PROBLEM THAT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF I WAS NOTIFIED. THE WORST PART IS THAT I WAS JUST AT FORD 2 WEEKS AGO GWTTING A NEW BATTERY AND AN OIL CHANGE AND THEY ALSO DIDN'T NOTIFY ME OF ANYTHING. THE RECALL STATES THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM IN THE BUSHING IN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT. I HAVE INCLUDED PICTURES OF THE PROBLEM SUCH AS THE CAR SHOWING BEING ON PARK AND ON REVERSE AT THE SAME TIME.
WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED ALL THE WAY TO EITHER SIDE, MULTIPLE ALARM SOUNDS GO OFF IN THE VEHICLE INCLUDING LOSS OF POWER STEERING, LOSS OF REVERSE SENSORS, LOSS OF HILL ASSIST AND LOSS OF STABILITY CONTROL. THIS OCCURS ANYTIME THE WHEEL IS FULLY TURNED, EITHER STATIONARY OR MOVING. THIS OCCURRED 2 YEARS AGO IN THE SAME VEHICLE AND THEY REPLACED THE COMPUTER, AFTER NOT FINDING ANY OTHER ISSUE. NOW IT IS OCCURRING AGAIN, SAME SYMPTOMS, SAME CAUSE. A VIDEO CAN EASILY BE SENT IF REQUESTED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE WHEEL LUG NUTS WERE SWOLLEN AND ENLARGED AND COULD NOT BE REMOVED USING THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED LUG NUT WRENCH. THE LUG NUTS WERE REPLACED ON ALL FOUR WHEELS AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,651.
THIS VEHICLE FREQUENTLY LOSES CLIMATE CONTROL FUNCTION CAUSING LACK OF HEAT OR A/C IN THE VEHICLE. THIS OCCURS AT RANDOM DURING BOTH INITIAL START UP, AND RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. IN CERTAIN WEATHER CONDITIONS THE LACK OF CLIMATE CONTROL AND DEFROSTING CAPABILITIES CAUSES LOSS OF VISIBILITY WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN FROSTING/FOGGING OF WINDSHIELD CAN HAPPEN RAPIDLY. MY FORD DEALER CANNOT DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE AS IT IS INTERMITTENT AND UNPREDICTABLE. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED 5 TIMES IN 4 MONTHS.
THE SHIFT LINKAGE BUSHING IN MY 2016 FORD FUSION FAILED LEAVING ME IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC WITHOUT GEARS AND UNABLE TO MOVE THE CAR OUT OF THE WAY. I WAS IN TRAFFIC AND TRIED TO CHANGE LANES WHEN THE GEARS LOCKED AND I COULDN'T MOVE ANYMORE.
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN MY CAR STARTING DRIVING STRANGE, VERY ROUGH. THEN THE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM WAS COMPLETELY GRAYED OUT AND A MESSAGE POPPED UP ON MY DASH 'TEMPORARILY LOST COMMUNICATION WITH CLIMATE SYSTEM' WHILE THIS ERROR MESSAGE IS UP, THE WINDOWS WON'T GO DOWN OR UP, A/C OR HEAT WON'T TURN ON, DASH DOESN'T WORK AT ALL, DOORS WON'T LOCK OR UNLOCK. VERY UNSAFE!
CAR HAS 60K MILES. LOSING COOLANT NO LEAK. DIDN'T START ONE DAY. FIRESTONE COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. HAD MY CAR TOWED TO BAYTOWN FORD. AFTER A WEEK AND A $800 AUTHORIZATION TO OPEN THE ENGINE ONLY. NEXT DAY I WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW ENGINE. $6K. MY QUESTION WAS WHAT CAUSED THE ENGINE FAILURE, AND HOW CAN I BE SURE THE NEW ENGINE WONT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. MY OIL CHANGES ARE REGULAR. MOBIL 1 OIL AND FILTER. I WAS TOLD THE SLUDGE IN MY ENGINE WAS BECAUSE I HAD A AFTERMARKET OIL FILTER NOT A MOTORCRAFT FILTER. NOT IN WRITING. I KNEW BETTER AND AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND A PLETHORA IF OTHER OWNERS HAS HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. MY CAR IS MY KEY TO PROVIDING FOR MY FAMILY AND I DONT HAVE $6K FOR A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. CAR HAS ALSO CUT OFF WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING BUT CRANKED IMMEDIATELY.
CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. WOULD STALL AFTER PUMPING GAS WOULD OVERHEAT WHEN IDLING. FANS WERE NOT TURNING ON CANISTER PURGE VALVE STUCK OPEN CAUSING THE FUEL TANK AND OXYGEN SENSOR TO FAIL.. RUNS ROUGH.
Trunk/deck lid pops open at random times. Weather conditions and time of day do not appear to be a factor as to why or when the trunk pops open. When it does happen the release mechanism clicks continuously for ~10 seconds or until you click the lock button on the fob. It will pop open when you begin to drive, up to the point that the car auto locks. This started happening approximately one year ago, September 2020, and lasted for a few weeks and then stopped. It started popping open again in the spring of 2021 and lasted for a few weeks. It has started popping open again in the beginning of September 2021.
MY 2016 FORD FUSION SE HAS 14,499 MILES AND DIES AT RED LIGHTS, IDLES ROUGH WHEN AC IN ON AND HAS DIED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH. SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON 2016 FORD FUSION ECOBOOST CAME ON. DIAGNOSTICS DISPLAYED CODE P300. I PAID TO HAVE THIS FIXED 2 TIMES. THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND THE CAR BEGAN TO OVERHEAT WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY. TOOK THE CAR TO FORD AND THEY ADVISED IT WAS A COOLANT LEAK IN THE ENGINE. THEY ADVISED IT WAS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT BUT WOULDN'T FIX THE ISSUE BECAUSE THE WARRANTY WAS UP ON THE VEHICLE. UPON DOING RESEARCH, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE.
MY VEHICLES CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE LIGHT APPEARED THE CAR BEGAN TO LOSE POWER, BECOME SLUGGISH AND SLOW TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE STOPPED ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP (DELKERS AUTOMOTIVE 12198 LEWIS AVE, TEMPERANCE, MI 48182) WHO LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THERE WAS LEAKING ENGINE COOLANT INTO THE CYLINDER THAT CAUSED THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT AND CRACK. THERE WAS COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE AND I WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE AT 73,000 MILES. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO BRONDES FORD AT 5545 SECOR ROAD TOLEDO, OH ON AUGUST 28TH. BRONDES FORD VERIFIED WHAT DELKER'S AUTOMOTIVE HAD FOUND, THE COOLENT LEAK INTO THE CYLINDER THAT CAUSED THE ENGINE TO CRACK. BRONDES FORD TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THAT I SHOULD TRY TO FILE A CLAIM WITH FORD TO RECOUP SOME OF THE COST OF A NEW ENGINE AS I WAS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY, AT 73K MILES. I WAS TOLD BY FORD WHEN CALLING IN TO MAKE A CLAIM THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST ME WITH ANY KIND OF MONETARY HELP, EVEN THOUGH THE ISSUE IS A KNOWN ISSUE, BECAUSE THERE IS NO CURRENT RECALL. I HAVE NOW BEEN WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR TWO MONTHS AS I DO NOT HAVE THE $8000.00 TO REPLACE THE ENGINE, AND HAVE RECEIVED NO HELP FROM FORD. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT THIS ISSUE IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND NOTHING IS GETTING DONE ABOUT IT. THERE WAS A PREVIOUS SAFETY RECALL THAT ADDRESSES THE ENGINE ISSUE ON SAFETY RECALL # 17S09 FOR THE FORD FUSION 2013-2014 MODELS, AND THE FACT THAT THE ISSUE IS STILL HAPPENING IN LATER MODELS SHOWS THE ISSUE WAS NOT CORRECTED BY FORD, AND IS HONESTLY APPALLING THAT THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH IT.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I STARTED MY CAR TO GO TO WORK ONE MORNING. I GOT MY CODE READER AND PLUGGED IT IN, IT SHOWED P0301 AND P0304 ( GENERIC CODE FOR MISFIRE ON CYLINDERS 1 AND 4). I FIGURED I HAD BAD SPARK PLUGS OR IGNITION COILS SO I REPLACED THEM WITH ALL NEW PARTS. DROVE THE CAR FOR ABOUT TWO DAYS AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RETURNED AGAIN WHEN STARTING MY CAR. PLUGGED THE CODE READER BACK IN, SAME CODE READINGS. MY CAR IS STILL UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY PLAN SO I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP. THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND FOUND THE SAME CODES. AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WERE GOING TO REPLACE THE FUEL SENSORS BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. THEY REPLACED THE SENSORS AND CLEARED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND I WAS ON MY WAY. A FEW DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON WHEN I STARTED MY CAR. I CONTACTED THE REPAIR SHOP AGAIN AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT BACK IN. I DROPPED THE CAR OFF TO THEM FOR 5 DAYS. WHEN THEY CALLED ME BACK THEY SAID THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE AND I SHOULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE BECAUSE I HAVE A CRACKED CYLINDER THAT IS LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE ENGINE. THE WARRANTY COMPANY IS TRYING TO DENY MY CLAIM, STATING THAT THE ENGINE OVERHEATED DUE TO IMPROPER MAINTENANCE. I CHANGE MY OWN OIL AND I CHANGE IT WELL BEFORE THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATION. I FOLLOW ALL THE SPECIFICATIONS AND USE PREMIUM PRODUCTS SO I KNOW THAT IT IS NOT FROM IMPROPER MAINTENANCE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THIS SEEMS LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG THESE ENGINE TYPES AND I HAVE EVEN FOUND A FEW WEBSITES WHERE PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO START A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. THIS ENTIRE EXPERIENCE/PROCESS HAS BEEN A GIANT HEADACHE. HOPEFULLY THERE IS A RESOLUTION IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN MY VEHICLE AND IT WAS IDLING ROUGH SO I TOOK IT BY AUTOZONE TO GET THE DIAGNOSTIC CHECK. IT SHOWED P0300, CYLINDER MISFIRE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD GONE OFF SO THEY CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS THINKING THIS WOULD FIX IT. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED, WITH THE ADDITION OF WHITE SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST, WHILE IDLING. WHEN I TOOK IT IN THE SECOND TIME, THE LIGHT WAS NOT ON ANYMORE AND IT WASN'T SMOKING. THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ABOUT A WEEK LATER, WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE, IT IDLED ROUGH AND THEN DIED. WHEN I STARTED IT BACK UP, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AGAIN AND WHITE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN I STARTED DRIVING, ON A CITY STREET, WHITE SMOKE BEGAN BILLOWING FROM THE EXHAUST. THE SMOKE WAS SO THICK THAT I COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING BEHIND ME. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET IT LOOKED AT AGAIN. THIS TIME THEY INFORMED ME THAT COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO ONE OF THE CYLINDERS AND THAT I WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE AND IT WAS GOING TO COST $7,300. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP NOW FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS WAITING FOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY TO MAKE A DECISION ON WHETHER OR NOT THEY WILL PAY FOR THE REPAIR. TSB 19-2346 ADDRESSES THE ISSUE BUT THE VEHICLE OWNER STILL HAS TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR IF THEY DON'T HAVE A WARRANTY OR IT DOESN'T COVER IT. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS ON 7/22/20 AND THE FINAL INCIDENT WAS ON 8/14/20.

THE VEHICLE LANDED UPSIDE DOWN. DURING THE FAILURE, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS UNABLE TO BE MANEUVERED. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE HEAD, LEFT ARM WAS CUT DEEPLY AND ELBOW, ELBOW JOINT WAS INJURED, AND A CUT ON THE FACE. THE CONTACT WAS TAKEN TO THE AMBULANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR THE STEERING COLUMN. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 146,000.
ON MONDAY 08/10/2020 PARK MY VEHICLE IN THE MORNING AND THEN CAME BACK TO THE CAR IN THE AFTERNOON. IT HAD STARTED AND WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE SHIFTER BUT WITH NO RESULT FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND NO GEAR INDICATION ON DISPLAY. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED AND TAKEN TO A FORD DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY. ADVISED THAT THE SHIFTER CABLE WAS BROKEN AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACE. WAS INFORMED THAT MY CAR WAS READY FOR PICK UP ON FRIDAY 08/15/2020. ON MONDAY 08/17/2020 HAD TAKEN VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO ADJUST SHIFTER CABLE LINKAGE BECAUSE THE SHIFTER WAS FOUND THAT IT COULD ACCIDENTALLY SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL FROM DRIVE WITH THE SMALLEST AMOUNT OF PRESSURE. DEALERSHIP VERIFIED THAT CABLE SHIFTER REQUIRED ADJUSTMENT. ON THURSDAY 08/20/2020 VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY REPAIRED BY FORD DEALERSHIP.

STOPPED CAR. SHIFTED INTO PARK, BUT CAR ROLLS. WILL NOT SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR. WILL NOT START. TOWED TO HILBISH FORD IN KANNAPOLIS, NC. DEALER SAYS IT IS THE SHIFTER CABLE BUSHING. GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALS THAT FORD HAS RECALLED FORD FUSIONS MODEL YEARS 2014-2016 FOR THIS SAME EXACT PROBLEM, YET THE DEALERSHIP SAYS MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND ARE CHARGING ME OVER $300.00 FOR REPAIRS.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WAS RUNNING ROUGH. IT ALSO BEGAN TO OVERHEAT AND RUN LOW ON COOLANT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT INDICATED A MISFIRE IN CYCLINDER 1. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO THE CYCLINDER AND COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. I WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW ENGINE. I RESEARCHED THIS AND SAW THAT THIS IS HAPPENING VERY OFTEN TO ENGINES LIKE MINE. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS BUT THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN. THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON THE CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAY.

FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN ON OTHER COMPLAINTS IT HAS TO DO WITH FAILURE OF THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR! HAD SOMEONE BEEN BEHIND ME WE COULD'VE BEEN HIT DUE TO THE CAR STALLING IN THE RD! LUCKILY I WAS GOING DOWN HILL AND WAS ABLE TO COAST ONTO A SIDE ROAD!! THANK GOD! MANY OTHER CARS THE SAME AS MINE ARE EXPERIENCING THIS! PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM AND RECALL THE PARTS ASSOCIATED WITH IT!! THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY WHERE I LIVE( MOUNTAINS) WITH WINDING ROADS AND LESS VISIBILITY FOR A CAR BEHIND ME IF I STALL OUT IN A CURVE LIKE I DID TODAY! I WAS DRIVING ON A SECONDARY ROAD WHEN THIS HAPPENED, NEAR THE MAIN ROAD.
FORD DEALERSHIP IS STATING ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THEY SAID THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 1.5L ENGINE AND FORD IS AWARE OF IT. THEY'VE NEVER SEEN THE TRANSMISSION GO AT THE SAME TIME. ESTIMATED REPAIRS ARE $6,300. I'M THE ORIGINAL OWNER, REGULARLY MAINTAINED, WITH 95,000 MILES ON IT. JUST TURNED 4 YEARS OLD.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. THE CODE WAS P0304, WHICH IS A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 4. THE SPARK PLUGS WERE DUE FOR A CHANGE, SO I CHANGED THEM, THE OIL HAS BEEN CHANGED AT RECOMMENDED INTERVALS, AND FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER USED WHEN FILLING UP. THE NEW SPARK PLUGS DID NOT MAKE THE ENGINE LIGHT GO AWAY AFTER CLEARING THE CODE. I TESTED THE IGNITION COILS, AND THEY ARE FINE. ALSO, THE COOLANT LEVEL IS OFTEN LOW, AND I HAVE TO PUT A QUART IN A WEEK. IT IS NOT LEAKING FROM ANYWHERE. I STARTED RESEARCHING, AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER FORD FUSIONS WITH THIS PROBLEM, AND THE COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO A CYLINDER, AND GIVING THE MISFIRE ON A CERTAIN CYLINDER CODE.
