I HAVE A 2005 MUSTANG GT THAT WHEN TEMPERATURE DROPS BELOW 50 MY SPEEDOMETER WILL STAY AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS WHEN I AM AT 0. SOMETIMES 40 70 WHEN I AM STOPPED. WHEN YOU TURN OFF KEY RESTART CAR IT WILL USUALLY DROP GAUGE 5 TO 10 MPH. I HAVE BEEN READING ONLINE OF NUMEROUS GAUGE FAILURES ON THIS YEAR MODEL. SOMETIMES MY GAS GAUGE WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY. *TR
I STOPPED AT A REST STOP ON THE PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE AND AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR THE TEMP GAUGE WENT ALL THE WAY PAST HOT BUT THE ENGINE WAS AT NORMAL TEMP. AFTER THE NEXT THREE STARTS THE GAUGE NEEDLE IS PAST ALL READINGS AND ESSENTIALLY POINTING TOWARD THE BOTTOM OF THE TEMP GAUGE, AT NOTHING. I CANNOT TELL IF THE ENGINE IS HOT OR COLD OR IN THE NORMAL RANGE. *TR
2005 FORD MUSTANG. INSTRUMENT GUAGE CLUSTER. GAS GUAGE GOES FROM OVER FULL TO EMPTY AND STICKS AT EMPTY. TACHOMETER IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, THE NEEDLE MOVES WITH THE RPMS OF THE ENGINE BUT IT HANGS BELOW THE NUMBERS. SPEEDOMETER JUST STARTED NOT CACULATING THE PROPER SPEED, CURRENTLY IT IS OFF BY 5-10 MILES PER HOUR. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MALFUNCTIONED AND THE GAUGES WERE NO LONGER OPERABLE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.

MY 05 MUSTANG GT IS A STANDARD AND I WAS COMING OUT OF A CONSTRUCTION ZONE IN A TOWN OUT ONTO A HIGHWAY. I WAS GOING ABOUT 20 MPH IN THE CONSTRUCTION ZONE, AND PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR TO SPEED UP. WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OF THE GAS PEDDLE TO SHIFT GEARS I NOTICED THE PEDDLE DIDN'T COME UP WITH MY FOOT, AND THAT THE CAR WAS STILL ACCELERATING. AT THIS TIME I WENT AHEAD AND SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL, AND WAS NOW GOING ABOUT 60 MPH. I THEN TRIED TO JAM MY FOOT UNDER THE GAS PEDDLE TO LIFT IT UP. I'M NOT SURE IF ME TRYING TO GET A LITTLE BIT OF MY SHOE UNDER THE PEDDLE TO LIFT IT WORKED, OR IF IT CAME BACK UP ON IT'S OWN. BUT IT DID COME BACK UP, AND IT ONLY LASTED A FEW SECONDS. BUT IF COMING TO A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT THIS COULD BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IN A CAR WITH 300 HP. I HAVE NOT TALKED TO FORD GARAGE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM YET. AS IT JUST HAPPENED LESS THEN AN HOUR AGO. INSTEAD I LOOKED UP THE ISSUE ON THE INTERNET, AND FOUND SEVERAL PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM. SOME OF THE COMPLAINTS WERE ABOUT FAMILY MEMBERS WITH THIS ISSUE, BECAUSE THEIR INCIDENT RESULTED IN DEATH FOR THAT PERSON. SEVERAL OTHERS HAVE ALSO STATED THAT FORD GARAGE WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, AND DID NOTHING TO THE VEHICLE. *TR
I'M WRITING TO YOU ABOUT MY 2005 FORD MUSTANG AND THE ISSUE WITH IT'S INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF CAR, JUST SEARCH "2005 MUSTANG INSTRUMENT CLUSTER" ON GOOGLE AND YOU'LL SEE WHAT I MEAN. EVIDENTLY THE MOTORS IN THESE CLUSTERS, WHICH OPERATE YOUR INSTRUMENT DIAL NEEDLES, FAIL REGULARLY. MY CAR IS A 2005, WITH 55,000 MILES ON IT. SERVICED REGULARLY AND WELL CARED FOR. FIRST, MY TACH STARTED MALFUNCTIONING. I FIGURED IT WAS COLD, AND IT ONLY DID IT SPORADICALLY, SO I LIVED WITH IT. HOWEVER, TWO MONTHS AFTER THE TACH STARTED ACTING UP, THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED MALFUNCTIONING AS WELL. I DID NOT FEEL IT WOULD BE SAFE TO IGNORE THAT. SO I CONTACTED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM ON THE PHONE, AND THE FIRST THING THE SERVICE PERSON SAID WAS "IT'S THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOST LIKELY. $500-800 TO REPAIR. WHEN I GOT HOME, I STARTED RESEARCHING, INITIALLY JUST TO SEE IF I COULD FIND THE PART CHEAPER. THE GOOGLE SEARCH I DID PULLED UP ENTIRE FORUMS DEDICATED TO THIS PROBLEM. THAT'S WHEN I WENT FROM RESIGNED TO MAD. FORD IS PUTTING THE ONUS ON THE NHTSA TO INITIATE A RECALL. AND THEY SAID YOU WON'T DO IT IF SAFETY IS NOT EFFECTED. WELL I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT ME AND I'M SURE EVERY STATE TROOPER ON THE PLANET, WOULD CONSIDER A MALFUNCTIONING SPEEDOMETER TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. AND WITH THE ECONOMY AS IT IS, AND FORD CHARGING $500-$800 TO REPAIR WHAT THEY ALREADY KNOW IS A FAULTY SYSTEM, A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE NOT GOING TO HAVE IT FIXED. AND TAKE THAT 25 MPH CURVE AT 35 OR 40 INSTEAD. THAT'S NOT ONLY GOING TO BE ILLEGAL....IT'S ALSO DANGEROUS. WE WERE ADVISED ON THE FORUM TO WRITE BOTH FORD AND THE NHTSA. I HAVE NOW WRITTEN BOTH. SURELY ONE OF YOU WILL DO THE RIGHT THING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE BUT IT WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE MECHANIC STATED THAT WATER HAD DAMAGED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND THE COMPUTER SYSTEM, WHICH WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE CONTACT HAD PREVIOUSLY NOTICED WATER LEAKING FROM UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT ONTO THE PASSENGER'S FEET. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,536.
MY SON WAS DRIVING HIS 2005 FORD MUSTANG YESTERDAY WHEN IT BURST INTO FLAMES. HE WAS PULLING ONTO I 95 WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. HE COULDN'T EVEN MAKE IF OFF THE DRIVING AREA WHEN IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. ONCE IT STOPPED BLACK SMOKE STARTED POURING OUT. HE JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR AND RAN AWAY FROM IT WHEN IT BURST INTO FLAMES. THE CAR WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION. NEVER EVEN MISSED AN OIL CHANGE. NO WARNING SIGNS OF ANY ISSUES. I AM THANKFUL THAT MY SON IS SAFE BUT VERY UPSET AT THE FORD CAR AND HAVE NOW READ MANY FORD FIRE ISSUES THAT FORD HAS NOT CORRECTED. *TR
I JUST VISITED AN ONLINE FORD FORUM AFTER BEING QUOTED $950 TO REPAIR MY SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2005 FORD MUSTANG. THERE ARE 4 PAGES OF COMPLAINTS DETAILING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME VEHICLE. PERHAPS FORD HAS AVOIDED A RECALL BY STATING THIS DOES NOT EFFECT SAFETY OR EMISSIONS. HOWEVER, I GOT MY FIRST SPEEDING TICKET IN OVER A DECADE 2 DAYS AFTER THIS PROBLEM BEGAN. SPEED CONTROL DOES EFFECT SAFETY, AND APPARENTLY, IF GONE WITHOUT REPAIR, THE NON-WORKING SPEEDOMETER EFFECTS THE TRANSMISSIONS ABILITY TO SHIFT PROPERLY, WHICH IS ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD. I DO NOT HAVE $950 TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM, NOR CAN I AFFORD TO PAY THE COSTS OF SPEEDING TICKET FINES, AND THE RISE IN MY COST OF AUTO INSURANCE DUE TO THESE FINES. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM, AS IT APPEARS TO BE A RECURRENT ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE THAT FORD SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR. *TR
I HAVE A MAJOR PAINT DEFECT, BUBBLING OR BLISTERING UNDER THE PAINT ON MY ALUMINUM HOOD. A FACTORY DEFECT, WHICH FORD HAS BEEN AWARE SINCE 2004 AND CONTINUED TO SELL ALUMINUM HOODS UNTIL 2013. *TR
SPEEDOMETER AT TIMES STICKS OR SHOWS THE INCORRECT SPEED. EVEN SITTING IDLE THE SPEEDOMETER WILL SHOW 5 MILES AN HOUR OR EVEN 20 MPH. IT'S EXTREMELY INCONSISTENT, SO DETERMINING THE CORRECT SPEED IS DIFFICULT TO DO. THE SPEED WILL DISPLAY BOTH, HIGHER THAN ACTUAL SPEED AND LOWER THAN ACTUAL SPEED WITHOUT RYHME OR REASON. ADDITIONALLY THE NEEDLE MOVES IN A SPORADIC BEHAVIOR, LIKE A SECOND HAND TIC ON A CLOCK, RATHER THAN A SMOOTH CONSISTENT FLOW. THE TACHOMETER APPEARS TO ALSO BE AFFECTED ALTHOUGH IT'S MUCH LESS NOTICEABLE. *KB
THE SPEEDOMETER, GAS GAUGE AND FUELING GAUGE ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAS FAILED. TODAY THE LIGHTING BEHIND THE PANEL STARTED TO GO OUT. THIS IS A KNOWN COMMON PROBLEM ON THE MUSTANG WITH SEVERAL PEOPLE REPORTING TO FORD WITHOUT ANY RESPONSE TO THE PUBLIC. WE PAID GOOD MONEY FOR THESE CARS AND THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I CANNOT AFFORD THE 600+ QUOTE, SO I'M USING A GPS TO GAUGE MY SPEED AND I'M HAVING TO TRACK MY MILEAGE SO I KNOW WHEN TO GET GAS. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL AND FIX BEFORE SOMEONE LOOSES THEIR LIFE. *TR
I OWN A 2005 MUSTANG GT, V8. THREE WEEKS AGO MY SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING ON A THREE HOUR TRIP. UPON STARTING THE CAR THE NEXT DAY IT APPEARED TO WORK FINE. HOWEVER, THAT DID NOT LAST LONG. IN TRIPS AROUND TOWN I COULD NOT REALLY TELL IF IT WAS WORKING PROPERLY. ON A FOUR HOUR TRIP IN THE MOUNTAINS OF VIRGINIA THE SPEEDOMETER WAS ACTING UP AGAIN. WHILE DRIVING WHAT I THOUGHT WAS 70 MPH {THE CRUISE WAS SET} I WAS STOPPED BY A STATE HIGHWAY PATROL WHO FIRST CLOCKED ME AT 80 MPH BUT WHEN I PASSED HIM HE CLOCKED ME A 84MPH. HE WAS IN PLAIN VIEW SO I WAS NOT CONCERNED AS THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 70. AS ANYONE THAT OWNS THIS CAR KNOWS IT DRIVES AND HANDLES SO GREAT YOU DON?T REALIZE YOU ARE GOING THAT FAST. AFTER THIS I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THEY MUST REPLACE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. COST TO REPAIR $650+. AFTER READING OTHER REPORTS IT APPEARS FORD HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 MUSTANGS. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE A DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY. THE MUSTANG HAS ALWAYS BEEN KNOWN FOR ITS INTEGRITY; THEREFORE, FORD SHOULD DO THE RIGHT THING AND DO A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THEY ARE IN THE NEWS FOR DEATHS, INJURIES, LAWSUITS, ETC RUINING THE NAME OF THE FINEST SPORTS CAR IN HISTORY. MY MUSTANG ONLY HAD 51,020 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS STARTED THREE WEEKS AGO. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER CONSTANTLY MALFUNCTIONS, WHICH MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO KNOW WHAT SPEED YOU ARE TRAVELING. THE SPEEDOMETER WILL EITHER STICK AT ZERO OR BE 10 TO 15 MPH OFF. THIS IS COMMON PROBLEM BASED ON PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH MANY OTHER 2005 MUSTANG V6 DRIVERS. THE PROBLEM REQUIRES THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO BE REPLACED (~$500-800), AND FORD CONTINUES TO GIVE US ALL THE RUN-AROUND. A SIMPLE SEARCH ONLINE ALSO RETURNS NUMEROUS POSTINGS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. NOT KNOWING THE SPEED IN WHICH YOU ARE TRAVELING IS A VERY UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED A.S.A.P.I HAVE SEEN AND TALKED TO MANY OWNERS WITH THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE I HAVE NO CLUE HOW FAST I AM GOING THE INSTRUMENTAL CLUSTER TELLS ME 30 MPH BUT IM FLYING BY CARS ON THE FREEWAY , BUT ITS NOT JUST THE MPH, THE HOLE CLUSTER IS ERRATIC THE NEEDLES ARE POINTED LEFT PAST THE RED ZONE SOME ARE POINTED ALL THE WAY RIGHT AND SOME AREN'T EVEN WORKING .FORD IS GOING TO HAVE A LAW SUIT IN ITS HANDS VERY SOON IF THIS IS NOT RESOLVED WITH A RECALL FOR ALL 2005 MUSTANGS.I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE INSTRUMENTAL CLUSTER. AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY HE SAID IT WOULD BE AROUND $600.00 . I TOLD HIM THAT THERE WAS NO WAY I WAS GOING TO PAY 600.00 DOLLARS FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS DONE BY FORD AND NOT ME.I GUESS THE ONLY WAY THEY WILL TAKE THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY IS IF SOMEONE GET HURT OR KILLED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED TO FUNCTION AND DOES NOT REGISTER THE CORRECT MPH WHILE DRIVING. THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD ONLY DISPLAY THE MAXIMUM SPEED OR ZERO. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING $100 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND $600 IF THE SPEED CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIRS WERE COVERED BY A RECALL OR WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,550.
MY 2005 MUSTANG RPM GAUGE HAS QUIT WORKING. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE OF THIS ISSUE I FOUND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MUSTANGS. CAN YOU PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHO I NEED TO CONTACT TO GET THIS ITEM UNDER A RECALL ITEM THAT MANDATES FORD TO FIX THE ISSUE. *KB
I HAVE A 2005 FORD MUSTANG WITH A SPEEDOMETER FAILURE. HAVING ACCESSED THE INTERNET HAVE FOUND AN AMAZING AMOUNT OF OTHER FOLKS WITHIN THE SAME PROBLEM. THE FAILURE CAN LEAD TO PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING CAUSING UNSAFE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. IT'S UNBELIEVABLE HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. WHEN CONTACTING FORD MOTOR CO. THEIR RESPONSE HAS NOT BEEN TO SIDE-STEP THE ISSUE AND NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. THEIR REP SUGGESTED THAT A RECALL WOULD HAVE TO COME FROM YOUR AGENCY. THOSE OF US THAT HAVE THE PROBLEM FEEL THAT THE REPAIR COST($500.-700.) SHOULD BE FORD'S RESPONSIBILITY, NOT THE OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES. IT'S A SHAME THAT WHEN SOMETHING AS OBVIOUS AS THIS DEFECT IS CANNOT BE ADMITTED TO BE THE FAULTY MANUFACTURE OF THE COMPONENT BY THE COMPANY THAT PRODUCED IT. The contact owns a 2005 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that one day after a rainstorm she noticed several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the headlights were inoperable due to the water leaking into the interior of the vehicle. Additionally, there was water leaking into the interior of the dashboard. There was also water coming out of the driver’s side front air vent and the interior lighting in the vehicle from the interior module and center console. The lights were flickering on and off. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer however, the dealer was not able to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
NO CRASHES, SPEEDOMETER ERRATIC READING. SOMETIMES READS HIGH, SOMETIMES LOW, WILL NOT RETURN TO ZERO POSITION. SOMETIMES STICKS AT THE 40MPH MARK, CAN ONLY BE RESET BY TURNING THE IGNITION OFF THEN ON. FILED COMPLAINT WITH FORD, AS WELL AS HERE AT URGING OF SERVICE WRITER AT FORD DEALER, WHO ADVISED ME THAT THIS IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM. *TR

ALL OF THE GAUGES IN THE GAUGE CLUSTER HAVE STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY, THE SPEEDOMETER REGISTERS OVER 80 MPH WHEN DRIVING 20 MPH. GAS GAUGE WAS THE FIRST GAUGE TO START ACTING WEIRD AND NOW THE GAS AND ALL OTHER GAUGES DO NOT REGISTER CORRECTLY. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AND A SAFETY HAZARD FOR THIS YEAR MODEL AND A RECALL FOR THE GAUGE CLUSTER NEEDS TO BE IN ORDER FOR ALL 2005 MUSTANG OWNERS. *TR
AS WITH MANY OTHER FORD MUSTANG OWNERS KNOW INSTRUMENT GAUGES FAIL. I HAVE STOPPED DRIVING MY MUSTANG BECAUSE I RECEIVED TWO SPEEDING TICKETS ABOUT A MONTH OR TWO APART.. TOOK 2005 MUSTANG IN FOR SERVICING AND THE HORN NOT WORKING. AFTER FINDING THE HORN, FUSE AND BOX WAS WORKING OK, THEY NEEDED TO EXTRA WORK TO FIND OUT WHY IT WOULD NOT WORK FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. $200 MORE FOR TESTING, THEY SAID THE WIRING HARNESS BOX WAS CORRODED. FOR ANOTHER $200 THEY NEED TO DO A WATER LEAK CHECK TO FIND WHERE WATER WAS GOING TO THE WIRING HARNESS. IT WOULD COST BETWEEN $3,000 TO $4,000 FOR NEW BOX, WIRING HARNESS AND LABOR. WOULD HAVE TO GUT OUT THE CAR, TAKE OUT DASH, SEATS, DOORS, TRUNK. THEY ARE NOT SURE IF IT WOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY, DEPENDS ON WHAT PART IS MAKING IT LEAK. THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHAT PART WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. I AM TAKING IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP FOR A 2ND OPINION TOMORROW. THEY ALSO SAID IF I DID NOT GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF, THE CAR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WOULD SHUT DOWN ONE BY ONE.

FAILURE OF INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND WATER LEAK IN PASSENGER SIDE FOOT WELL. SPEEDOMETER NON-FUNCTIONING, FUEL INDICATOR NON-FUNCTIONING, AND ENGINE TEMPERATURE GAUGE NON-FUNCTIONING. PROVIDES SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD WITHOUT KNOWING VEHICLE SPEED. ANY SUBSTANTIAL RAIN RESULTS IN WATER POOLING IN PASSENGER SIDE FOOT AREA, AND SATURATION OF FUSE BOX AREA, WHICH PROVIDES CONCERNS FOR A VEHICLE-WIDE LOSS OF ELECTRICAL POWER AND BRAKE/STEERING CONTROL. I HAVE LOOKED AT SEVERAL ONLINE OWNERS' FORUMS AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS CASES OF THIS COMMONLY-DOCUMENTED SAFETY PROBLEM, BUT FORD MOTOR COMPANY REFUSES TO ADDRESS IT UNTIL NHTSA ISSUES A RECALL. I HAVE CALLED FMC, AND THEY REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. *TR
WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND THE GAS GAUGE STARTED ACTING WEIRD. STOPPED AND FILLED UP THE CAR AND AFTER STARTING THE CAR THE GAUGE WENT ALL THE WAY PAST 'E'. SHORTLY AFTER THAT THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED STICKING. I COULD BE AT A STOP LIGHT AND IT WOULD SHOW I WAS GOING 20 MPH. USUALLY TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON WOULD GET THE SPEEDOMETER TO GO DOWN. THE HIGHER THE SPEED SAID THE MORE YOU HAD TO TURN IT OFF AND ON SINCE IT ONLY WENT DOWN A LITTLE AT A TIME. NOW THE GAUGE IS STUCK AT 80 MPH AND DOESN'T MOVE AT ALL. THE TACHOMETER IS ALSO MESSING UP NOW. IT WILL VARY FROM BEING TOO LOW TO BEING TOO HIGH TO BEING JUST RIGHT. *TR
UPON FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED OWNER'S MANUAL WHICH STATES "TO SET THE PARKING BRAKE, PULL THE PARKING BRAKE HANDLE UP AS FAR AS POSSIBLE", I EXPERIENCED A LOUD POPPING SOUND FOLLOWED BY THE INABILITY TO USE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED PARKING BRAKE SINCE THE CABLES HAD BEEN SNAPPED. I HAVE SEEN THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS ISSUES AND COMPLAINTS PERTAINING TO THE PARKING BRAKE/PARKING BRAKE CABLES WITH 2005 FORD MUSTANGS, BUT IT APPEARS THAT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE EVEN THOUGH FORD HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THE INEFFICIENCY OF THESE CABLES BY REPLACING THEM IN THE 2007 AND LATER MUSTANG MODELS. THE RUBBER COATING OF THESE CABLES IS APPARENTLY INEFFICIENT IN KEEPING MOISTURE AND WATER OUT OF THE CABLE ITSELF AS EXPRESSED BY MANY UNHAPPY FORD MUSTANG OWNERS, WHICH IN TURN CAUSED MY CABLES TO RUST AND EVENTUALLY SNAP. I FIND IT EXTREMELY ALARMING THAT THIS IS SUCH A PREVALENT COMPLAINT YET NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM BY EITHER FORD OR THE NHTSA. HAD THE OWNER'S MANUAL ISSUED BY FORD NOT SAID "PULL THE PARKING BRAKE HANDLE UP AS FAR AS POSSIBLE" MY ISSUE AND POSSIBLY MANY OTHERS WOULD NOT HAVE COME TO FRUITION, SINCE IN AN ATTEMPT TO SECURE MY VEHICLE BASED ON THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS MY PARKING BRAKE CABLES BROKE AS A RESULT OF THE FAULTY RUBBER COATING. ALSO, THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE I WOULD HAVE NOT ENCOUNTERED THIS PROBLEM HAD THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATED TO ONLY RAISE THE PARKING BRAKE UNTIL A FAIR AMOUNT OF TENSION IS FELT. HOWEVER, THE ISSUE I EXPERIENCED WOULD HAVE MOST LIKELY BEEN INEVITABLE GIVEN THE NUMEROUS ISSUES AND COMPLAINTS ALREADY SURROUNDING THE PROBLEMS WITH THE PARKING BRAKE AND CABLE, SO LUCKILY I EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT MYSELF OR ANYONE ELSE SUFFERING ANY INJURIES. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE AS IT IS EXTRAORDINARILY UNFAIR TO PUT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF REPAIR ON THE CONSUMER WHEN THE MANUFACTURER COULD HAVE TAKEN STEPS TO FIX THIS ISSUE, AND HAS DONE SO IN LATER MODELS. *TR
THE FIRST THING TO HAPPEN AROUND JUNE OF 2011 WAS MY GAS GAUGE DROPPED TO EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON WHEN IN FACT I HAD A FULL TANK. THIS STARTED DOING IT EVERY SO OFTEN AND NOW DOES IT ON A DAILY OCCURRENCE. THE NEXT THING APPROX. A MONTH LATER MY TACH STARTED ACTING STRANGE AND IS NOW STUCK IN ONE POSITION AND HAS BEEN THAT WAY FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS. STARTING LAST SEPTEMBER THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD DROP DOWN TO 0 WHILE DRIVING, SOMETIMES IT SHOWS GOING 20 OR 25 MILES PER HOUR WHEN IN FACT I AM PROBABLY DOING 55 OR 60. THIS IS VERY DISTRESSING AS I LOVE MY MUSTANG AND BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW IN DECEMBER 2004. IT NOW HAS A LITTLE OVER 70000 MILES AND I AM SEEING WHERE OTHERS HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT A FLUKE BUT SOUNDS LIKE A DEFECT ON THESE MUSTANGS. IT IS NOT A CHEAP FIX AND FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND A RECALL NEEDS TO BE DONE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT THE SPEED LIMIT WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STALLED. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND PUT MY HAZARDS ON SO I DIDN'T GET HIT FROM BEHIND OR CAUSE A DANGEROUS ACCIDENT TO THE OTHER MOTORISTS. I TURNED OFF THE CAR, LEFT THE HAZARDS ON AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES BEFORE STARTING IT UP AGAIN. IT STARTED THANKFULLY AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT SAFELY TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE. EVENTUALLY SOMEONE WAS ABLE TO COME AND HELP ME GET MY CAR HOME. WE BELIEVE THAT THE INCIDENT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY, AND THROTTLE BODY SENSOR. FORD SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THIS PROBLEM AND PAY FOR THEIR FAULTY PARTS. LEFT THE CAR FOR AN HOUR OR SO AND THEN IT WAS WORKING FINE. COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IF IT HAPPENED AT NIGHT. CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING FINE SINCE. *TR

I HAD MY ALTERNATOR CHANGED, BUT IT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND AFTER THAT IS WHEN MY OTHER GAUGES QUIT WORKING. SINCE THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH ALMOST EVERY ONE MADE DURING THAT YEAR, YOU WOULD BELIEVE THAT FORD WOULD NOT WANT TO TARNISH THEIR NAME BY NOT ISSUING A RECALL. I HAVE ALWAYS OWNED A FORD, BUT MY FAMILY HAS RECENTLY CHANGED TO DIFFERENT MAKES AND I WILL DEFINITELY CONSIDER CHANGING AFTER THIS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IF YOUR GAUGES ARE NOT WORKING, YOU COULD STALL IN TRAFFIC BY RUNNING OUT OF GAS, OVERHEATING, ENGINE LOCK UP, ETC. MY 2005 FORD MUSTANG V6 HAS BEEN HAVING SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTIONS WEEKLY. THESE MALFUNCTIONS CAUSE THE SPEEDOMETER TO START AT NUMBERS THAT ARE NOT 0, RESULTING IN AN INACCURATE READING OF MY SPEED. IT READ 120 WHILE I MAY ONLY BE GOING 40 AND EVEN WHEN I SHUT DOWN THE VEHICLE IT WILL REMAIN AT 40+. A TEMPORARY FIX IS TO TURN THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF WHICH SOMETIMES CAUSES THE NEEDLES TO SLOWLY DROP, BUT USUALLY IT WILL STAY OVER 20 FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME, AND WHEN I DO SUCCEED IN REACHING 0 WITHIN A WEEK OR TWO THE PROBLEM WILL OCCUR AGAIN. 2005 FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE. SEVERE WATER LEAKAGE OCCURRING IN PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AND REAR AREAS. WATER LEAKS INTO A COMPARTMENT THAT SURROUNDS THE CABIN AIR FILTER AND THEN BLOWS IN THROUGH THE CABIN AIRWAY AND LEAKS OUT BELOW THE GLOVE BOX.
