I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY SPEEDOMETER. THE NEEDLE ON THE SPEEDOMETER OFTEN GETS STUCK AT A CERTAIN SPEED AND WILL NOT MOVE WHEN I ACCELERATE. IT ALSO STARTS AT 60 AND 80 MPH AS IF IT WERE 0. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE NEEDLE GOES THE MAX DISTANCE AS IF I WERE DRIVING 100+ MPH. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 FORD MUSTANG.. AND I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT EMERGENCY BRAKE PROBLEM.. I JUST HAD MY EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLES REPLACED AT A LOCAL FORD DEALER. THE EMERGENCY BRAKES WOULD NOT RELEASE. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT THE BRAKES WERE STILL HOLDING UNTIL A SAW WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR WHEELS.. MY CAR DIDN'T PASS MY STATE INSPECTION BECAUSE THE PARKING BRAKE WILL NOT HOLD THE CAR.. *TR
VEHICLE REGULARLY STALLS OUT AT STOPS AND/OR LOSES POWER (ACCELERATOR WILL NOT GIVE PROPER POWER TO VEHICLE) SO THAT IN AN INTERSECTION THERE IS NO ABILITY TO GET VEHICLE OUT OF TRAFFIC SAFELY. ALSO WILL LURCH FORWARD AT STOPS ON ITS OWN (WITH NO POWER GIVEN TO ACCELERATOR) WHICH POSES A SAFETY ISSUE FOR OTHER DRIVERS AND/OR PEDESTRIANS IN MY PATH. *TR
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2005 MUSTANG. I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AS MY CAR (WHICH IS AN AUTOMATIC) WOULD RANDOMLY STALL OUT AT LIGHTS. ONE TIME LEAVING ME STRANDED IN THE INTERSECTION. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO FILL MY GAS TANK AS THE GAS PUMP NOZZLE KICKS BACK FOR SOME REASON WHILE PUMPING. MY SPEEDOMETER WILL READ INACCURATELY AT TIMES, SOMETIMES READING EXTREMELY HIGH NUMBERS, SOMETIMES NOT AT ALL. I AM USING GPS AND MY OWN DISCRECTION WHEN GAUGING HOW FAST I'M GOING. AFTER A HEAVY RAINSTORM, WHEN MAKING LEFT TURNS, MY PASSENGER FLOOR BECOMES FLOODED BY WATER POURING OUT FROM UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD. MY PASSENGERS FEET GET SOAKED AS WELL AS CARPET, FLOORMAT AND ANY OTHER THINGS I HAVE IN THE FLOOR BOARD. *TR
I OWN A 2005 V6 MUSTANG. THE SPEEDOMETER STOPED WORKING PROPERLY AT 75K MILES. MOST OF THE TIME IT STAYS AT ZERO MPH AND THEN OTHERS IT IS ALL OVER THE PLACE. NOW MY OIL GAUGE SEEMS TO GET STUCK ON COLD MORNINGS AND I ALSO NOTICED THAT TEMP GAUGE DOESN'T WORK SOMETIMES. WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE OTHER 2005 MUSTANG OWNERS ARE HAVING. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ANY OTHER VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED, AND I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS AN IHERANT ISSUE WITH THE YEAR AND MODEL. FORD SHOULD DO A RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. I AM ASKING FOR THE FORD COMPANY TO PICK UP THE TAB ON THIS ONE BEFORE SOMETHING HAPPENS AND SOMEONE GET'S HURT. THE SPEEDOMETER MALIFUNCTION COULD MISLEAD DRIVER'S OF SPEED AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. APPROXIMATELY A YEAR AGO, THE SPEEDOMETER AND FUEL GAUGES ON MY 2005 FORD MUSTANG STARTED TO MALFUNCTION. SINCE THEN, THEY HAVE BEEN GIVING ME FALSE READINGS. EXAMPLES INCLUDE MY FUEL LEVEL WILL READ AT HALF A TANK WHEN I WILL ACTUALLY BE NEAR EMPTY, THE MORE PRESSING ISSUE HOWEVER, IS THAT MY SPEEDOMETER KEEPS GIVING ME INCREADIBLY INACCURATE READINGS, SAYING I'LL BE GOING 90 MPH, WHEN I'LL REALLY BE GOING 20, OR SAYING THAT I'M CONSTANTLY GOING WELL OVER 150MPH...EVEN THOUGH MY CAR WILL BE PARKED AND TURNED OFF. I HAVE READ THAT MANY OTHER 2005 MUSTANG OWNERS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND BEING TOLD THEY ARE HAVING TO PAY ANYWHERE FROM $500-600 FOR THE REPAIR WHEN IT IS CLEARLY FORD MOTOR'S FAULT. I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY THIS, BUT I CANNOT AFFORD TO CONTINUE HAVING TO GUESS MY SPEED EITHER, IT IS UNSAFE, AND POTENTIALLY CAUSING ME TO BREAK THE LAW BY SPEEDING. A RECALL ORDER NEEDS TO BE ISSUED TO SAVE ME AND MY FELLOW MUSTANG OWNERS FROM HAVING TO PAY THIS EXCESSIE COST FOR A PROBLEM THAT IS THE MAKER'S PROBLEM. *TT
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER: THE RPM AND TEMP GAUGES DO NOT WORK. FIRST THE RPM GAUGE STOPPED WORKING AND 1 YEAR LATER THE TEMP GAUGE STARTED JUMPING AROUND TO COLD AND THEN HOT. I HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER TO CHECK THE ENGINE NUMEROUS TIMES AND THE ENGINE WAS NOT HOT. NOW THE TEMP GAUGE DOES NOT WORK AT ALL AND THE GAUGE POINTS DOWNWARD AS THE RPM GAUGE. THIS IS DANGEROUS. I'M WORRIED THE ENGINE MAY OVERHEAT AND I WILL HAVE NO INDICATION. I SEE THERE ARE MANY OTHER 2005 MUSTANG OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS. *TR
I PURCHASED IN 2007 A 2005 FORD MUSTANG. AFTER THE DOWNPOURING OF RAIN ON WEDNESDAY 9/29 NIGHT AND THURSDAY 9/30 MORNING I EXPERIENCED WATER POURING INTO MY 2005 FORD MUSTANG VEHICLE WHEN ON MY WAY TO WORK UNDER THE DASH BOARD AND IN CLOSE PROXIMITY OF THE FUSE PANEL ON THE PASSENGER FOOT WELL. I WAS ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THERE HAS BEEN OTHER 2005 MUSTANGS EXPERIENCING THE SAME SYSTEMS. THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A RECALL. *TR
THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS DISPLAYING INCORRECT INFORMATION FOR THE SPEEDOMETER AND FOR THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE. THE SENSORS ARE WORKING CORRECTLY BASED ON A READING FROM THE OBD II PORT. *TT
SPEEDOMETER, TACHOMETER, TEMP , AND FUEL GAUGES FAIL INTERMITTENTLY. GAUGES GET STUCK OR PROVIDE FALSE READINGS. *TR
ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2010, THE GAS GAUGE ON THE VEHICLE FAILED - READING MORE THAN FULL, AND OTHER VARIOUS IRREGULAR READINGS. REPAIRED FOR $75, THEN FAILED AGAIN NEXT DAY. HAVE NOT REPAIRED AGAIN AS DEALER ESTIMATES COST AT $1500 DUE TO MULTIPLE FAILURES ACCORDING TO THEIR TESTS. GAS LIGHT STILL WORKS WHEN FUEL IS VERY LOW. ON NOVEMBER 1, 2010, THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED - READING 80 MPH WHEN VEHICLE IS STOPPED. HAVE NOT REPAIRED, USING GPS TO ESTIMATE SPEED. I CONTACTED FORD ABOUT THESE ISSUES AS THEY SEEM VERY COMMON WITH THIS MODEL & YEAR VEHICLE BY A QUICK SEARCH ONLINE. THEY ADVISED THAT I SHOULD JUST GET IT FIXED AT THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP. GIVEN THE FREQUENCY OF THIS FAILURE I FEEL THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE AS THE ORIGINAL PARTS MUST BE FAULTY GIVEN THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE POSTING THE SAME ISSUES ONLINE. FORD ADVISED THAT YOUR AGENCY WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT COULD ORDER A RECALL. I WOULD THINK THAT KNOWING HOW MUCH GAS YOU HAVE OR KNOWING HOW FAST YOU ARE GOING ARE VALID SAFETY ISSUES THAT FORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX AT THEIR EXPENSE.
MY 2005 MUSTANG GT ON OCCASIONS THE FUEL GAUGE WILL DROP TO EMPTY AND I WILL GET A MESSAGE OF LOW FUEL. AT TIMES IT WILL GO BACK TO THE NORMAL POSITION BUT MOST OF THE TIME I MUST RESTART THE CAR FOR THE FUEL GAUGE TO RETURN TO NORMAL. THIS OCCURS PERHAPS 3-4 TIMES PER WEEK. *TR

E-BRAKE MALFUNCTION ON A 2005 FORD MUSTANG V6. I LEAVE THE CAR IN GEAR ALL THE TIME BECAUSE OF THE ISSUE. MY VEHICLE ROLLED DOWN A HILL OVER A CURB AND CAUSED $980 WORTH OF DAMAGE TO THE CONDENSER AND RADIATOR. APPARENTLY FORD SAID THE E-CORD IS WRAPPED ALL AROUND THE UNIT AND I NEED A REPLACEMENT AT $565. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 FORD MUSTANG GT, AND THE SPEEDOMETER IS NOT WORKING LIKE IS SHOULD.. IT WILL SHOW THAT I'M GOING 20MPH, AND SOMETIMES IT WILL JUST SHOW 70MPH AT A DEAD STOP.. THIS HAS BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE.. BECAUSE I JUST DON'T KNOW HOW FAST THE CAR IS GOING.. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE. WITHOUT WARNING THE TOP JAMMED ABOUT A 1/4 OF THE WAY GOING UP. IT APPEARS THE LEFT SIDE TORSION BAR SNAPPED CAUSING THE WEIGHT OF THE TOP TO SHIFT TO THE RIGHT AND BENT THE RIGHT SIDE FRAME. I CAN NOT PUT THE WINDOWS UP BECAUSE THE WHOLE TOP IS NOW OUT OF ALIGNMENT. VEHICLE IS STORED ALL WINTER LONG AND HAS LESS THAN 15,000 MILES ON IT. THE CONVERTIBLE TOP FRAME IS A POOR DESIGN. I BROUGHT IT TO 3 PLACES TO BE LOOKED AT AND HAVE BEEN TOLD FROM ALL 3 PLACES THAT THIS IS AN ON GOING ISSUE WITH THE 2005 FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE TOPS. I DO NOT SEE THAT A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED BUT HAVE SEEN SOME TSB. I FEEL THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE TO PRODUCE VEHICLES WITHOUT MECHANICAL FLAWS AND USE QUALITY PARTS. FORD MOTOR COMPANY NEEDS TO STEP UP TO REPAIR THEM WITHOUT FINANCIAL BURDEN ON THE CONSUMER WHEN THEY ARE EXPOSED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE FAILED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REFUEL THE VEHICLE BUT THE FUEL COULD NOT BE ADDED. IN ADDITION, THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD NOT PROVIDE ACCURATE READINGS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY INFORMED HER THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REMOVED AND REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. UPDATED 08/28/12*LJ UPDATED 09/04/2012 *JS
CONVERTIBLE TOP FAILURE AT 28,000 MILES. CAR IS NOT SAFE TO OPERATE ON HIGHWAYS AFTER CONVERTIBLE TOP FAILURE. COMMON PROBLEM ON 2005 MUSTANGS. TOP BECOMES STUCK AT HALF UP POSITION. THIS OBSTRUCTS VISION IN REAR-VIEW MIRROR, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO CHANGE LANES SAFELY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE REFUELING THE VEHICLE, GASOLINE BEGAN SPEWING FROM THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE GROUND AND THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO INQUIRE WITH THE MANUFACTURER ABOUT A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ADVISED THERE WAS A DEFECT WITHIN THE FUEL TANK AND ANY REPAIRS WOULD BE AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 67,000.
LOST POWER STEERING WHEN BELT CAME OFF. THE HARMONIC BALANCER SEPARATED WITH THE PULLEY PART MOVING 1 1/2" TOWARD THE MOTOR TAKING IT OUT OF ALIGNMENT WITH THE REST OF THE BELT. *TR
THE CAR WAS COASTING AND THEN JUST COMPLETELY TURNED OFF REDUCING STEERING AND BRAKING ABILITY AT LEAST 50% UNTIL I COULD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, TURN OFF THE IGNITION, THEN RESTART IT AGAIN. SINCE THEN THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 5 TIMES, 4 IN THE LAST WEEK! MY TOTALLY TRUSTWORTHY MECHANIC DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND FOUND NO FAILURES BESIDES THE FACT THAT THE FUEL GAUGE HASN'T WORKED IN YEARS, THE SPEEDOMETER DOESN'T ALWAYS TELL ME THE SPEED, THE GAS TANK SHUTS OFF BEFORE FILLING UP, THE HEAD LIGHTS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS HAVE STAYED ON AFTER TURNING OFF THE CAR AND HASN'T TURNED OFF AFTER IT'S RAINED. THE RPM SEEMS TO BE THE PROBLEM FOR WHY THE ENGINE TURNS OFF WHEN THEY ARE TOO LOW. THERE USED TO BE A JERKY PROBLEM DURING ACCELERATION WHEN THE CAR WOULD SHOOT FORWARD THEN BACK OFF A COUPLE TIMES BEFORE RETURNING TO A MORE STEADY ACCELERATION. I WOULD CONSIDER THIS VEHICLE A COMPLETE LEMON AND THREAT TO THE SAFETY OF ME AND ANYBODY ELSE ON THE ROAD BUT SINCE THE WARRANTY PERIOD IS OVER AND IT'S BEEN TAKEN TO A MECHANIC I DON'T HAVE ANY OTHER OPTIONS BESIDES REPORTING IT TO YOU, I REALLY WISH THERE WAS SOME WAY THIS PROBLEM COULD BE SOLVED AND I'M CERTAIN MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS SAME VEHICLE ARE DEALING WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE SPEEDOMETER AND THE OIL LEVEL GAUGE FAILED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION AND THEY INFORMED HIM THAT THE SPEEDOMETER CABLES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS COMMON FOR ALL 2005 FORD MUSTANGS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL SPLASHED OUT THE VEHICLE ALTHOUGH THE FUEL IN THE TANK WAS LOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED IT WAS A DEFECTIVE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TAIL LIGHTS WOULD GO OUT ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. ALSO, THE CLUSTER PANEL WAS COMPLETELY INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE CLUSTER HAD FAILED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
SPEEDOMETER FAILURE. THE SPEEDOMETER IN MY CAR STARTED SHOWING I WAS GOING 10MPH WHILE THE CAR WAS NOT MOVING.I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT TO GET A CORRECT READING. EVENTUALLY THAT DIDN'T WORK. THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD STAY AT 10 OR 20MPH TILL THE CAR WARMED UP, THEN IT WORKED FINE. THEN IT STARTED STAYING AT 20MPH IF THE WEATHER WAS COLD. (AT NIGHT IT DIDN'T WORK, IN THE DAYTIME WHEN IT WAS WARMER OUTSIDE IT WORKED). NOW THE SPEEDOMETER DOESN'T WORK AT ALL ANY MORE. ITS PERMANANTLY STUCK ON 55MPH EVEN WHEN THE CAR ISN'T RUNNING. I DID RESEARCH ON LINE AND FOUND A LARGE AMOUNT OF 05 MUSTANG OWNERS WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURED DEFECT AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
CLUSTER FAILURE 2005 MUSTANG, RPM GUAGE NOT WORKING. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP SINCE I PURCHASED EXTENDED 6-YEAR WARRANTY, FORD REFUSED TO FIX...SO MUCH FOR THE EXTRA WARRANTY!!! NOT SURE THAT I WILL EVER PURCHASE FROM FORD AGAIN...OBVIOUSLY THE CLUSTER IS JUNK, AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT. *TT
WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED THE ENGINE REVS UP AND THE CAR ACCELERATES BEFORE STARTING TO SLOW DOWN. THIS HAS OCCURRED 4 TIMES RECENTLY. *TR

ALSO, WHEN DRIVING IN RAINY WEATHER OR THROUGH A PUDDLE, WATER WOULD ENTER THE VEHICLE AND INTO THE FUSE BOX. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 20,000.
I HAVE REPLACED 2 BATTERIES ON MY 2005 MUSTANG. DEALER SAYS THERE IS ALWAYS A SMALL DRAW ON BATTERY EVEN IF NOTHING IS PLUGGED IN. THEY HAVE CHECKED THE ALTERNATOR AND IT'S OK. IF I DON'T DRIVE MY CAR AT LEAST 2-3 TIMES A WEEK MY BATTERY ALWAYS DIES. THE OTHER DAY I SHUT MY CAR OFF FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES AND IT DIDN'T WANT TO START. *TR
TOOK MY 05 V6 TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THERE WAS A COLLECTION OF LIGHTS ON THE DASH LIT UP, CHECK ENGINE, BRAKE, OIL PRESSURE, TRACTION CONTROL, TRACTION CONTROL OFF, LOW FUEL, FUEL GAUGE NOT WORKING AND THE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS ON DASH DIDN'T WORK EITHER. THIS HAPPENED AFTER WATER LEAKED INTO MY CAR AFTER A HARD RAIN. DEALERSHIP SAID SMART JUNCTION BOX GOT WET DUE TO BAD SEALANT,WHICH CAUSED THE LEAK. HOWEVER, SMART JUNCTION BOX IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND MY CAR ONLY HAS 65K MILES. THIS IS NOW THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED DUE TO THEIR MISTAKE. *TR

IN ADDITION, WATER WAS LEAKING INTO THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE FLOORBOARD AND CONTROL MODULE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HIM THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD PROVIDED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE FAILURE ASSOCIATED WITH THE WATER LEAK BUT NOT A RECALL (NHTSA ITEM NUMBER: 10028507- STRUCTURE:BODY:ROOF AND PILLARS). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000. THE VIN WAS AVAILABLE.
THE CLUSTER ELECTRICAL GAUGE PANEL HAS SLOWLY STOPPED WORKING. FIRST THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED SPINNING OVER 360 DEGREES, THEN THE TACHOMETER WENT, FOLLOWED BY THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE, AND NOW INTERMITTENTLY THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE. ON-LINE RESEARCH SUGGESTS THIS IS A FREQUENT ISSUE MAINLY INVOLVING THE 2005 MUSTANG YEAR. FORD HAS REFUSED ISSUE A RECALL AND HAS DECLINED TO FIX THE PROBLEM ONCE THE VEHICLE HAS PASSED THE WARRANTY PERIOD (THE ISSUE ALMOST ALWAYS DEVELOPS AFTER THE WARRANTY PERIOD EXPIRES). FORD HAS CHARGED SOME AN EXORBERENT $800 FEE TO FIX THE PANEL. OBVIOUSLY, IT IS AN ISSUE DRIVING WITHOUT A SPEEDOMETER, TEMPERATURE GAUGE, AND OIL PRESSURE GAUGE (THE TACHOMETER NONWITHSTANDING). TO HAVE A MAJOR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ISSUE IN A STATISICALLY SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF VEHICLES OF THE SAME MAKE AND SAME CALENDAR YEAR SEEMS TO WARRANT MORE INTEGRITY ON THE PART OF FORD IN ADMITTING A TECHNICAL FLAW AND GRACIOUSLY OFFERING TO REPAIR IT. *TR
THIS IS REGARDING A DEFECT, BUT NOT AN ACCIDENT. I HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUES ON MY 2000 MUSTANG, WHICH FORD DECLARED A LEMON 2 YEARS AFTER I PURCHASED IT NEW. PRIMARY PROBLEM IS FAULT IN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, WHICH CAUSES INTERMITTENT AND INCREASINGLY INOPERATIVE PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE DYING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, EVEN AT HIGH SPEEDS, LOSING ALL STEERING AND CONTROL; CONVERTIBLE TOP OPENING AND CLOSING; WINDOWS OPENING AND CLOSING BY THEMSELVES BUT NOT WHEN DESIRED; AND DASH GAUGES NOT WORKING, INDICATING RANDOMLY AND LITERALLY OFF THE CHART, OR SPECTRUM, IF YOU WILL. OTHER INTRINSIC ISSUES INCLUDE GAS TANK GAUGE GIVING FALSE "FULL" READ EVERY FEW SECONDS WHENEVER ATTEMPTING TO REFUEL, REQUIRING NEAR CONSTANT REPOSITIONING OF NOZZLE, AND RANDOM INTERIOR PARTS FALLING OFF WITHOUT EVEN MINIMAL USE AND WITHIN 3 YEARS OF OWNING VEHICLE. VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS ONLY 67,000 MILES ON IT. SINCE THIS IS MY 2ND MUSTANG WITH SAME PROBLEMS, I HAVE TO BELIEVE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL. PLEASE RECALL THIS VEHICLE, AND ALL FORDS WITH THESE ISSUES. DANGEROUS AND PROBLEMATIC, NOT ONLY BECAUSE YOU CANNOT CLOSE AND LOCK YOUR CAR, BUT BECAUSE ENGINE DYING IN MIDDLE OF ROAD HAS ALMOST CAUSED WHAT COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT ON MORE THAN A FEW OCCASIONS, IN BOTH CARS. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE REGARDING THE ENGINE STALLING OUT, WHICH SEEMS TO HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH RUNNING THE AIR CONDITIONER. *TR
SPEEDOMETER BEGAN WORKING ERRATICALLY AT AROUND 33,000 MILES. SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE WOULD HOVER AT 20MPH WHEN IN IDLE AND WOULD JUMP UP TO 80MPH AND THEN WORK SOMETIMES, OTHER TIMES IT WOULD STAY AT ZERO. HAVE NOT NOTICED ANY CHANGES DUE TO WEATHER (RAIN OR TEMPERATURE). COMPARED SPEEDOMETER READING WITH GPS SPEED AND FOUND INCONSISTENCIES OF UP TO 10 MPH WHEN THE SPEEDOMETER DID WORK.SPEEDOMETER COMPLETE FAILURE AT 33,500 MILES. TEMPERATURE GAUGE FAILED AT SAME TIME. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT NOT KNOWING HOW FAST I AM GOING. I DRIVE "PACING" TRAFFIC WHICH STILL IS NOT SAFE. MULTIPLE INCIDENTS OF INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURES REPORTED ON SEVERAL FORD MUSTANG FORUMS BY CURRENT OWNERS. FORDS SOLUTION IS A NEW INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WHICH COSTS ABOUT $700. APPARENTLY THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE FAILING STEPPER MOTORS THAT DRIVE THE GAUGES. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM AS IT DOES PRESENT A SERIOUS & POTENTIALLY DEADLY SITUATION IN NOT KNOWING WHAT THE CAR'S ACTUAL SPEED IS. 2005 MUSTANG HAD ROUTINE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUSH DONE AT 46K MILES, PRIOR TO SERVICE NO LEAKS, ONLY COMPLAINTS OF NOISY TRANSMISSION. NOW TRANSMISSION LEAKS, NOTICED SOME OIL AT A FEW HUNDREDS WIPED IT CLEAN THINKING IT WAS RESIDUE FROM THE FLUSH. AT 50K CHECKED AGAIN AND LEAK IN WORSE AND TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP (JONES FORD, N. CHARLESTON, SC). DEALER REFUSED TO COVER THE REPAIR OF THE LEAK, STATING LEAK WAS NOT CAUSED BY ROUTINE MAINTENANCE THEY PERFORMED, ALTHOUGH STATES THEY DO THESE ROUTINELY AND OCCASIONALLY CARS COME BACK LEAKING FROM THE PROCEDURE. CONTACTED FORD MOTOR CRC AND THEY STATED IT IS A DEALERSHIP SERVICE ISSUE. DEALERSHIP SAYS IT'S NOT. YET I'M OUT TO PAY FOR A REPAIR BILL CA. BETWEEN $700 AND $1000 DEPENDING ON DAMAGE DONE. *TR

1. RAN OUT OF GAS ON FREEWAY 2. WITHIN 1 WEEK AFTER BUYING MY 2005 MUSTANG THE GAS GAUGE WOULD READ OUT OF FUEL WHEN I HAD A FULL TANK. NOW THE FUEL GAUGE STAYS ON FULL EVEN WHEN I AM OUT OF FUEL. 3. FORDS SOLUTION WAS TO ADD TEKRON FUEL BOOSTER, WHICH TO MY SURPRISE WORKED FOR A WHILE. NOW I PUT IN THE TEKRON FROM CHEVRON AND IT DOES NO LONGER SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I TALKED TO THE FORD DEALER AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND GOT THE SAME ANSWER, THE MUSTANG HAS A SPLIT FUEL TANK AND BOTH SIDES HAVE A FUEL LEVEL SENSOR AND THEY BOTH HAVE TO BE REPLACED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. TO A TUNE OF OVER $600.00. WHY IS IT THAT NISSAN HAS A RECALL BACK TO 95 TO FIX FUEL GAUGE PROBLEMS BUT FORD PUTS THE REPAIR COST ON THE CUSTOMER, ITS NOT RIGHT. *TR
ALL DASH GAUGES WORK ERRATICALLY, HAPPENS AT RANDOM BOTH WHILE DRIVING AND AT START UP. *TT
IN REFERENCE TO TSB-08-26-7 AND TSB-07-14-6, THERE IS A DIFFICULT TO DIAGNOSE WATER LEAK IN THE FLOOR BOARD OF THE VEHICLE. THE WATER LEAK COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE FROM THE WHEEL WELL INTO THE FLOOR BOARD OF THE VEHICLE COMES INTO CONTACT WITH THE SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN WATER SEEPS INTO THE SJB, IT SHORT CIRCUITS THE MAJORITY OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF THE VEHICLE INCLUDING: HEADLIGHTS, TAIL LIGHTS, A/C, INSTRUMENT PANEL, RADIO, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, REAR DEFROSTER, WINDOWS, DOOR LOCKS, AND A VARIETY OF OTHER ITEMS. IF ALL THE CORRECT CONDITIONS PREVAIL, SUCH AS, NIGHT TIME DRIVING IN THE RAIN AND THE WATER SEEPS INTO THE SJB AND SHORT CIRCUITS IT, THE DRIVER IS LEFT IN THE DARK WITH NO LIGHTING, NO WIPERS, OR INSTRUMENTATION OF ANY TYPE. QUICK FIX FOR DANGEROUS CONDITION WAS TO PULL THE KICK PANEL OUT OF THE FLOOR BOARD, UNPLUG THE SJB CONNECTOR, AND ALLOW TO BRIEFLY AIR DRY BEFORE RECONNECTING. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER ONLY TO BE CLAIMED THE "INSTRUMENT CLUSTER" WAS BAD. EVEN THOUGH THE TSBS WERE MENTIONED BY THE OWNER, NOTHING WAS SAID OF THE SJB BEING THE PROBLEM. *TR
NOTHING ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WORKS PROPERLY. IT STARTED OUT WITH THE GAS GAUGE NEEDLE POINTING AT 6:00 THEN THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED READING 110 MPH WHEN I WAS GOING 40 MPH (BY MY GPS) AND NOW THE TACHOMETER READS 1500 RPM'S TO LOW. NOW ALL 6 GAUGES HAVE GONE HAYWIRE! I NOW HAVE NO IDEA IF THE CAR IS OVER HEATING OR IF THE ALTERNATOR ISN'T WORKING OR IF THE OIL PUMP DIED. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN! WITH SO MANY ISSUES HAPPENING TO SO MANY PEOPLE, I BELIEVE THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD STEP FORWARD AND FIX THIS. *KB

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD MUSTANG GT. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH IN HEAVY RAIN WHEN THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED WITHOUT WARNING, INCLUDING THE LIGHTS AND DASHBOARD GAUGES. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE WITH CAUTION TO A NEARBY SERVICE STATION. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED AFTER FIVE MINUTES. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION UNTIL THE FAILURE RECURRED WITHIN TWELVE MILES. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO DIAGNOSE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING PROPERLY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 66,200. IN ADDITION, WHEN ACCELERATING THE VEHICLE WOULD ABNORMALLY ACCELERATE AT A RAPID PACE. THE DEALER ADVISED THERE WAS AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR THAT WOULD POTENTIALLY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED FOR THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
FREEZING TEMPERATURES AND SNOW LED ME TO USE THE PARKING BRAKE ON HILL OVERNIGHT. THE NEXT MORNING THE REAR BRAKES DID NOT DISENGAGE DESPITE RELEASING THE E BRAKE HANDLE WHICH TURNED OFF THE SENSOR. I DID NOT ATTRIBUTE THE DIFFICULTY OF THE DRIVE TO THE BRAKES AS THERE WAS LOTS OF SNOW IN THE PARKING LOT AND THE LIGHT SENSOR WAS OFF. THE CAR WAS DRIVEN HALF MILE, AND WHEN I PARKED, I WAS INSPECTING THE ROTORS, THE TEMPERATURE OF WHICH IMMEDIATELY BURNT A HOLE IN MY WINTER GLOVE. I CALLED THE DEALER TO ASK ABOUT PROBLEM AND THEY SEEMED LIKE IT WAS THE FIRST TIME THEY HAVE HEARD ABOUT IT, BUT THERE ARE NUMEROUS ONLINE POSTS RELATING TO THE SAME ISSUE. HAS NOT YET BEEN FIXED, AS I AM IN PROCESS OF TRYING TO FIGURE OUT IF THIS IS A PROBLEM THE DEALER SHOULD COVER, OR IF I AM GOING TO HAVE TO PAY FOR IT OUT OF POCKET. IT WOULD SEEM AS THOUGH A SAFETY RECALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM SINCE THE PARKING BRAKE IS A SAFETY FEATURE AND THIS IS NOT A PART THAT NORMALLY GOES BAD UNDER NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR CONDITIONS. THE SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO ACT ERRATICALLY BEFORE CEASING TO WORK ALTOGETHER. I TOOK THE CAR TO FAIRWAY FORD (PLACENTIA, CA) AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE WRITER DISMISSED ME BY SAYING THE REPAIR WAS TOO COSTLY AND THAT THERE WAS NO KNOWN UNIVERSAL PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 V6 FORD MUSTANG. I HAVE A COLLEAGUE WITH THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL WHO HAS THE SAME PROBLEM.

ALL OF THE GAUGES IN THE GAUGE CLUSTER HAVE STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY, THE SPEEDOMETER REGISTERS OVER 80 MPH WHEN DRIVING 20 MPH. GAS GAUGE WAS THE FIRST GAUGE TO START ACTING WEIRD AND NOW THE GAS AND ALL OTHER GAUGES DO NOT REGISTER CORRECTLY. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AND A SAFETY HAZZARD FOR THIS YEAR MODEL AND A RECALL FOR THE GAUGE CLUSTER NEEDS TO BE IN ORDER FOR ALL 2005 MUSTANG OWNERS. *TT
