I HAVE A 2005 FORD MUSTANG. THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE PANEL THE RPMS DO NOT WORK,THE GAS GAUGE DOESN'T WORK AND THE COLD TO HOT GAUGE DOES NOT WORK. I CONTACTED FORD THEY SAID THERE IS NOT ANY RECALLS AND IT MY PROBLEM. AND I NEEDED TO HAVE IT FIXED THOUGHT IT SEEMS TO BE A COMPUTER SYSTEM ERROR WITH THE CAR.TO START THE RPMS WOULD WORK THEN NOT WORK. I THOUGHT WELL NOT BIG DEAL MIGHT WORK ITS SELF OUT THEN I NOTICED WHEN ADDING GAS THE GAS GAUGE WOULD SPIN AROUND LIKE A CLOCK AND YOU COULD NOT READ IT OR KNOW WHEN YOU WERE RUNNING OUT OF GAS THAT IS VERY UNSAFE TO BE ON THE ROAD WITH OUT KNOWING HOW MUCH GAS IS IN YOUR CAR. AND THE LOW ON GAS LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON TO TELL YOU EITHER. THEN WHAT FAILED WAS HE COLD TO HOT GAUGE. NOTHING WORKS ON THE PANEL AT THIS TIME. I CANT DRIVE THE CAR FEELING SAFE.EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE SOME SORT OF COMPUTER PROBLEM WITH THE CAR AND FORD DOES NOT WANT TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND SAY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THERE CAR BUT THERE IS AND THERE REFUSING TO FIX IT LIKE THEY TOLD ME ITS NOT THERE PROBLEM. I TOLD THEM THEY NEED TO PAY FOR AND FIX THIS PROBLEM I DIDN'T BUILD THE CAR THEY DID THEY REFUSED. *TR
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY DEC 23, 2008 WHEN THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ON MY 2005 FORD MUSTANG WITH 25,000 MILES ON IT WENT COMPLETELY DEAD. I PURCHASED THIS SLIGHTLY USED MUSTANG AT A CHRYSLER DEALER SIX MONTHS AGO AND I PURCHASED A TOP OF THE LINE EXTENDED WARR, FOR $2000.00 WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP MY TOP OF THE LINE EXTENDED WARR. DID NOT COVER THE REPAIRS DUE TO THE PROBLEM BEING A KNOWN FACTORY DEFECT. FORD MOTOR COMPANY WAS NO HELP WITH THE PROBLEM ALSO DUE TO THE CAR BEING SLIGHTLY OVER THE 3 YEAR WARR BUT NOT OVER THE 36,000 MILE WARR. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH SINCE THEN ON THE MATTER AND FOUND THIS PROBLEM IS A BIG PROBLEM WITH FORD . THE INTERNET IS LOADED WITH COMPLAINTS FROM CONSUMERS WITH THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS MINE. I WOULD IMAGINE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MILES PER HR COULD BE A CATASTROPHE AFTER LOSING ALL ELECTRICAL POWER. FORD HAS A TSB NUMBER FOR THIS PROBLEM, IT IS TSB 07-14-6. THE PROBLEM IS WATER IS ENTERING THE COWL AREA ON THE FRONT OF CAR AND GETTING TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND SHORTING THE SYSTEM OUT. TO MAKE THINGS WORSE, AFTER ALL DENIED RESPONSE TO FIX FACTORY DEFECT, THEY HANDED ME A BILL FOR $508.00 TO TROUBLE SHOOT PROBLEM WHEN I SPECIFICALLY TOLD THE DEALERSHIP THERE WAS A TSB NOTICE ON THIS PROBLEM AND THE PROBLEM WAS THAT OF THE TSB 07-14-6. THIS IS NO WAY FAIR AND SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE. *TR
MY SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER STOPPED WORKING AROUND 45000 MILES. I TOOK THIS TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AS THERE IS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM EXPECTING THIS TO BE FIXED. THEY SAID IT WAS UNCOMMON AND I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BY FORD FOR REPAIR. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 MUSTANG THAT THE PARKING BRAKE HAS FROZEN ON 3 TIMES SINCE 2006 AND ON ANOTHER OCCASION HAD THE PARKING BRAKE CABLES HANGING DOWN BY THE REAR TIRES. THE PARKING BRAKE CABLES HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE ALREADY. *TR
AT 43,000 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THEN GO OFF. THE ENGINE RPMS WILL SURGE UP AND DOWN WHEN FIRST STARTING AND THERE SEEMS TO BE A GREATER AMOUNT OF EXHAUST VISIBLE. THE WARRANTY FORD DEALER FOR THIS AREA IN GERMANY (KOHLHOFF FORD IN MANNHEIM) CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE AIR/GAS CONTROL SENSOR (ANTI-KNOCK SENSOR) IS DEFECTIVE. THIS IS A 50 STATE EMISSIONS CONTROL VEHICLE (CALIFORNIA) BUT FORD WARRANTY ADVISOR STATES THAT THE WARRANTY IS ONLY WHEN IT'S IN CALIFORNIA. I AM STATIONED OVERSEAS. SO THE 3 YEAR, 50,000 MILE WARRANTY FOR THIS AND THE 8 YEAR, 80,000 MILE EMISSIONS WARRANTY IS NOT COVERING THIS. REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE ON ORDER. *TR
GAUGE CLUSTER BAD. DON'T KNOW HOW FAST I AM GOING.THE REST OF THE GAUGES DO NOT WORK SO I DON'T KNOW TEMP,VOLTAGE,GAS,OIL PRESSURE OR TECH. THEY NEED A RECALL I DID NOT GIVE 30,000 FOR A CAR WITH PROBLEMS. THEY WANT 700 TO FIX IT BUT EVERYONE WITH A 05-06 MODEL HAS THIS PROBLEM. *TR
THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON MY 2005 MUSTANG BEGAN FREEZING UP AND WOULDN'T RELEASE. SHORTLY AFTER THIS BEGAN TO OCCUR THE BRAKE DISCONTINUED TO WORK AT ALL. AFTER SHELLING OUT $300+ FOR A COMPLETELY NEW EMERGENCY BRAKE ASSEMBLY, THE SAME PROBLEM IS BACK AGAIN. MY GUESS IS THEY HAVE A DESIGN FLAW IN THIS ASSEMBLY. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 FORD MUSTANG WITH 18000 MILES ON IT. A WEEK BEFORE THE 18,000 MILE SERVICE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT CODES P-2004, P-2005 WERE PRESENT AND A TSB FROM FORD, # 06-7-10 WERE PRESENT. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT IS KNOWN BY FORD, BUT UNLESS YOU ARE UNDER WARRANTY OR HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, FORD WILL NOT HELP. THE PROBLEM IS THE MOTION CONTROL VALVES AND THROTTLE LINKAGE. THE LINKAGE CAN BECOME DAMAGED AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO LOOSE ACCELERATION OR FOR THE ACCELERATOR TO GET STUCK DURING ACCELERATION AND TO FAIL TO STOP CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE OUT OF CONTROL. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE VEHICLE AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT I COULD OF DONE TO PREVENT IT AS IT IS BUILT AND SOLD BY FORD MOTOR CORPORATION. I BELIEVE THAT FORD IS NEGLIGENT IN THIS AS THEY ARE AWARE, AND WILL NOT REPAIR IT UNLESS IT IS UNDER WARRANTY OR THE OWNER WANTS TO COUGH UP A COUPLE OF THOUSAND DOLLARS OF THEIR OWN MONEY FOR THE REPAIR. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED BY FORD. *TR
THREE TIMES IN THE LAST 3 YEARS, MY DAUGHTER'S MUSTANG EXPERIENCED UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION. THE ENGINE RACED WITHOUT PUSHING ON THE ACCELERATOR. THE BRAKE WAS USELESS. TWICE SHE WAS IN TRAFFIC AND NARROWLY AVOIDED A CRASH. THIS WEEK MY WIFE WAS USING THE CAR AND IT DID THE SAME THING, AND SHE CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. SHE WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE WHEN IT HAPPENED, HITTING A POLE. THEN, WHEN PLACED IN DRIVE, THE CAR RACED FORWARD. AGAIN THE BRAKE WAS INEFFECTIVE. TWO YEARS AGO, THIS WAS REPORTED TO A FORD DEALER, WHO DIDN'T FIND, NOR FIX, ANYTHING. STRANGELY, THEY NOW HAVE NO RECORD OF THE PROBLEM BEING REPORTED. HOWEVER, FORD DOES. *TR
FUEL GAUGE DROPS TO EMPTY, SOMETIMES COMES BACK WHILE DRIVING. SEEMS TO ALWAYS READ NORMAL AFTER TURNING IGNITION OFF AND BACK ON. *TR
MY SPEEDOMETER IS VERY ERRATIC ESPECIALLY DURING THE COLD MONTHS. WHEN COLD, THE SPEEDOMETER USUALLY READS ZERO OR OTHER TIMES IT READS THAT I AM DOING 100+ MPH WHEN BARELY MOVING. WHEN THE WEATHER IS WARM I HAVE NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. I FEEL THAT THIS IS VERY UNSAFE DRIVING WITHOUT A PROPERLY FUNCTIONING SPEEDOMETER. I HAVE READ MANY ONLINE FORUMS AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 MUSTANG. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP US 2005 FORD MUSTANG OWNERS AND ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. *TR
MY DATES AND MILEAGE MAY BE OFF. I PURCHASED MY MUSTANG USED AT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP WITH THE WARRANTY AND EXTENDED WARRANTY AND ABOUT TWO MONTHS LATER MY BACK WHEELS LOCKED UP ON ME. I PULLED INTO THE FORD COMPANY AND THEY TOOK A LOOK AT IT AND UNLOCKED THE WHEELS CHARGING ME $70 SAYING IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD BY THE TECH THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE HAD FROZE UP CAUSING THE TIRES TO LOCK UP. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY AND IT WOULD COST BY CLOSE TO $600 TO FIX. THE GENTLEMAN TOLD ME AT THAT TIME TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH FORD BECAUSE IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. I DID FILE THAT COMPLAINT BACK THEN AND NOTHING EVER BECAME OF IT. I NEVER HAD IT FIXED BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE $600 AND THEREFORE I DO NOT USE MY E-BRAKE WHICH IS DANGEROUS! I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND HAVE FOUND THAT OTHERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THERE CAR. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
DURING THE RAISING OF MY CONVERTIBLE TOP THE MECHANISM FAILED LEAVING THE TOP HALF WAY UP. THE DAMAGE IS SO BAD THE TOP WILL NOT GO UP OR DOWN. THE DEALER SAYS IT WILL COST $6,000 TO REPAIR. THE CAR IS A 2005 AND HAS ONLY 43,000 MILES AND THE TOP HAS NOT BEEN CYCLED THAT MANY TIMES. MY EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THE TOP. I FEEL THAT THIS FAILURE HAS OCCURRED VERY EARLY IN THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE COST OF REPAIR IS 1/2 THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE. I DID NOT ABUSE THE TOP BECAUSE THE RAISING AND LOWERING IS ALL AUTOMATIC AND CAN NOT BE ABUSED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD MUSTANG. HE STATED THAT THE SPEED ODOMETER ONLY WORKS AFTER THE VEHICLE IS TURNED ON AND OFF. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT IT WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE COST OF THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,000. UPDATED 6/17/10 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE SPEEDOMETER WAS DEFECTIVE. SOMETIMES IT WORKED WHEN THE ENGINE WAS WARM, BUT IT STAYED AT ZERO UNTIL THEN. SOMETIMES, IT WOULD WORK AFTER AN HOUR OF DRIVING. THE CONSUMER STATED A NEW INSTRUMENT PANEL IS NEEDED. UPDATED 06/18/10.*JB
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2005 MODEL MUSTANG GT FROM JIM SKINNER HONDA IN DOTHAN ALABAMA. THE VEHICLE HAS A SIGNIFICANT WATER LEAK INTO THE PASSENGER FLOORBOARD AND INTO THE SMART JUNCTION BOX AREA. THE WATER PENETRATES INTO THE WIRING HARNESSES AND BOX ITSELF. BEING THAT MOST OPERATIONS ON THIS VEHICLE ARE ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED IT IS MY OPINION (MECHANIC) THAT WATER INTRUSION INTO THIS AREA COULD CAUSE AN ENGINE FAILURE AND HAS CAUSED LIGHTING MALFUNCTIONS ON THE TAILLIGHTS OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN RAINING THE VEHICLE TYPICALLY EXPERIENCES ELECTRICAL GHOSTS OF VARIOUS SORTS. ALSO THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START DURING SOME HEAVY WATER INTRUSION INSTANTS. BUT GIVEN TIME THIS PROBLEM CAN AND WILL LEAD TO A FIRE OR A ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION CAUSING A CRASH AND/OR DEATH. *TR
GAS TANK ON MY 2005 MUSTANG WON'T COMPLETELY FILL. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER SAYS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE. THEY REPLACED THE TANK A FEW MONTHS AGO AFTER IT WOULDN'T FILL UP. THE NEW TANK WORKED CORRECTLY UNTIL A WEEK AND A HALF AGO. NOW THE LOCAL DEALER SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *TR
THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IN MY 2005 FORD MUSTANG GT NO LONGER WORKS. FIRST THE FUEL GAUGE STOPPED READING PROPERTY, THEN THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD READ 100 + WHILE GOING ABOUT 40 AND CONTINUED TO BE ERRATIC UNTIL THE NEEDLE ENDED UP POINTING STRAIGHT DOWN. THE SAME THING THEN HAPPENED WITH THE TACH. THIS ALL OCCURRED JUST AFTER 30,000 MILES. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE ISSUE ON LINE AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE. *TR
THIS COMPLAINT IS REGARDING AN AIR-BAG LIGHT THAT COMES ON WHEN DRIVING MY 2005 MUSTANG. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM JOE MEYERS FORD IN HOUSTON. WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR, THE AIR-BAG LIGHT STARTED COMING ON RANDOMLY. IT MIGHT NOT COME ON FOR DAYS, THEN DECIDES TO COME ON. THE OWNER'S MANUAL SAYS IF THIS LIGHT COMES ON TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, NOTHING ELSE. THE FIRST TIME I BROUGHT IT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT'S ATTENTION, I WAS TOLD IF IT WASN'T ON IT WASN'T A PROBLEM. WITHIN MY SECOND YEAR OF OWNERSHIP, THE AIR-BAG LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE. THIS TIME THE SERVICE AGAIN SAW THE LIGHT ON. THEY KEPT THE CAR, SOLD ME A BATTERY SERVICE WHERE THEY REMOVED THE CABLE AND SPRAYED ANTI-CORROSION STUFF ON THE TERMINAL. THIS DID NOT CHANGE THE RANDOM LIGHT COMING ON WHILE DRIVING. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE FORD MUSTANG RECALL TO RE-PROGRAM THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. THIS DID NOT CHANGE THE RANDOM LIGHT COMING ON WHILE DRIVING. RECEIVED A CALL IN MAY 2008 THAT THEY HAD A REPLACEMENT SENSOR FOR MY CAR. BROUGHT IT IN AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE WRONG SENSOR. THE SERVICE AGENT TOLD ME TO CALL BACK LATER (NO SPECIFIC TIME LINE)TO SEE IF THEY HAD THE NEW SENSOR. THE CAR'S WARRANTY WAS UP IN JULY 2008, THE LIGHT COMES ON ALL THE TIME, AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY DO NOT HAVE THE SENSOR FOR MY CAR, BUT THERE ARE 5 DEALERS IN TOWN THAT HAVE THEM. I PLAN TO BRING THE CAR BACK THIS NEXT WEEK FOR THEM TO FIX THE SENSOR, AND FEEL THEY SHOULD HONOR THE WARRANTY. WHETHER THEY FIX THE PROBLEM OR NOT REMAINS TO BE SEEN. *TR
AT 60000 MILES MY TRANSMISSION FAILED. IT WAS LEAKING INTERNALLY FROM THE BELL HOUSING TO THE TRANSMISSION. THIS CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO GET HOT. THERE WERE NOT OUTWARD SIGNS OF PROBLEMS. NO EXTERNAL LEAKS OR ANY SENSORS WARNING ME. SINCE I COULD NOT AFFORD THE EXORBITANT EXTENDED WARRANTY, I HAD TO PAY OVER $3000 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. I THINK THIS IS UNFAIR TO THE CONSUMER. MY CAR IS ONLY HALF WAY PAID OFF AND I HAVE HEARD SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME OF OTHER CONSUMERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I AM A 43 YEAR OLD WOMAN AND NOT A TEENAGER HOT RODDING A CAR. I WILL NEVER BUY A FORD AGAIN OR USE RANDALL NOT DEALERSHIP. *TR
ALL OF MY TIRES HAVE BULGES AND PITS IN THEM. I'VE ONLY HAD MY VEHICLE FOR ONE YEAR. THE TIRES STILL HAVE EXCELLENT TREAD ON THEM, BUT THEY'VE DEVELOPED PITS AND BULGES. I NEVER DRIVE ON THE GRAVEL AND I LIVE ON A PAVED ROAD. I TOOK MY CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND HE BELIEVES THAT THE TIRES HAVE SOME KIND OF DEFECT. THE SIZE OF MY TIRES ARE 215 / 65/R16. *TR
IN 2008 FORD REPLACED THE GAS TANK ON THE FORD MUSTANG BECAUSE OF A DEFECT IN THE GAS TANK FOR REFUELING. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON INDICATING EITHER LOW FUEL PRESSURE OR EMITTING EMISSIONS. VERIFIED PROBLEM AT PERRY FORD POWAY CA WITH [XXX] EXPLAINED THAT THE NEW GAS TANK NEEDED TO HAVE NEW FUEL PUMP CELL TO MATCH THE NEW GAS TANK. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE VERIFIED ONLY NEW GAS TANK INSTALLED IN 2008. FORD WANTS ME TO PAY FOR CORRECTING THEIR ERROR OF NOT MATCHING THE RIGHT FUEL PUMP CELL TO THE NEW GAS TANK. IF THE GAS TANK IS LEAKING FUMES THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A RISK TO ME AND OTHER THAT HAD A GAS TANK REPLACED. WHILE BACKING FROM MY GARAGE, I PUT THE SHIFTER INTO REVERSE. THE CAR WILL PAUSE AND THEN A SUDDEN JERK INTO REVERSE. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS RECENTLY FLUSHED AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP PRIOR TO THE START OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR
COMPLETE LIGHTING FAILURE WHILE TRAVELING AT NIGHT. WHILE DRIVING HOME ALL OF MY LIGHTS BEGAN TO FLICKER THEN COMPLETELY FAILED, NO HEADLIGHTS TAIL LIGHTS DASH ( SEEMED TO BE A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE ) INITIALLY THOUGHT ENGINE HAD QUIT BUT NO IT WAS STILL RUNNING. I DID GET AN ENGINE CODE INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE DASH. ONCE PULLED OVER I CHECKED THE BATTERY CABLES BOTH WERE TIGHT STILL NO LIGHTS IN THE PROCESS I HAD PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TRANSMISSION LOCKED IN PARK. AFTER A SHORT WHILE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON . EVERYTHING SEEMED NORMAL SO I RESUMED MY ATTEMPT TO REACH HOME HOWEVER A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD IT DID IT AGAIN. NEXT DAY I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD TO REPROGRAM THE COMPUTER. VEHICLE SO FAR HAS OPERATED FINE SO FAR. NOT SURE IF THE PROBLEM WAS RELATED TO THE CHIPS IN THE KEYS OR THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM HOWEVER IF THIS HAD OCCURRED ON A REMOTE ROAD OR HIGHWAY IT COULD VERY WELL HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I HAD NO ELECTRICAL PERIOD INCLUDING THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS. THE BATTERY , ALTERNATOR , AND FUSES WERE ALL FUNCTIONAL. *TR
ENGINE WILL CUT-OUT/HESITATE UNDER ACCELERATION OR DURING STEADY DRIVING. ALMOST CAUSED COLLISION ENTERING INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. THIS IS AN ON GOING PROBLEM NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. 2005 MUSTANG GT WITH ONLY 13,000 MILES. *TR

THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ON MY MUSTANG BEGAN BEHAVING ERRATICALLY AT ABOUT THE TIME AND MILEAGE NOTED FOR A LONG TIME, THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER WOULD WORK FOR 30-45 MINUTES OF DRIVING (LESS WHEN IT WAS HOT OUTSIDE) THEN QUIT, HOWEVER THE GAS AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES WORKED CONSISTENTLY UNTIL A FEW YEARS LATER. IN 2010 OR THEREABOUTS THE OTHER GAUGES QUIT WORKING. THE WARNING LIGHTS STILL WORK AND THE SPEEDOMETER/TACHOMETER COME ON FEEBLY FOR A FEW MINUTES WHEN YOU FIRST START DRIVING THE CAR THE GAS AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES NEVER CHANGE AT ALL. I USED THE LOW FUEL LIGHT FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS TO TELL WHEN I NEEDED GAS AND HAVE HAD NO IDEA HOW FAST I WAS GOING MOST OF THE TIME. APPARENTLY THIS IS SO COMMON THERE IS A COTTAGE INDUSTRY PROVIDING A REBUILD OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR THESE CARS MUCH MORE CHEAPLY THAN FORD. ALTHOUGH MY CAR IS FAR OUT OF WARRANTY (254,000 MILES AND STILL RUNNING GOOD) I THOUGHT IT WOULD HELP TO REPORT THIS ISSUE SINCE IT APPEARS TO HAVE HAPPENED TO SO MANY OF THESE CARS. OTHERWISE A GREAT CAR, BOUGHT A 2014 V6 MUSTANG REPLACEMENT. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND THE CAR WOULD ONLY GO IN SECOND GEAR. I MADE IT TO MY MOM'S BUSINESS AND HAD IT TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP AFTER TALKING TO A FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE REP. THE DEALER TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. EVERY TRANSMISSION PLACE I TALKED TO SAID THAT THESE TRANSMISSIONS ARE FAILING IN ALL OF THE FORD VEHICLES THAT HAVE THEM BETWEEN 60,000 AND 90,000 MILES. FORD REFUSES TO FIX OR REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE I DIDN'T BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. IT IS GOING TO COST ME SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPLACE THIS TRANSMISSION. THERE IS A DEFECT IN THESE TRANSMISSIONS AND ALL OF THEM SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FORD HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COSTS. MY CAR ISN'T FIXED YET BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO DO SO. MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILED DUE TO THE WIRING IN THE DASHBOARD FROM THE FACTORY WAS CHAFING ON EACH OTHER AND SHORTED OUT. I FIRST THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A FUSE BUT THEY KEPT BLOWING. SO I BROUGHT IT TO ONE DEALER THEY SAID THE CLUSTER NEEDED REPLACEMENT DUE TO A SHORT IN IT AND WOULD COST $600.00 BECAUSE MY WARRANTY RAN OUT IN NOV. 2007 BUT THE CAR ONLY HAS 28K ON IT, IT'S A PLEASURE CAR. I CALLED FORD CARE AND THEY SAID SINCE I HAVE NO SERVICE RECORD WITH THEM THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. I BROUGHT THE CAR NEXT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE ORDERED A NEW CLUSTER THROUGH FORD AND BROUGHT IT TO A SEPARATE DEALER WHERE THEY FOUND THE WIRING PROBLEM AND ALSO REPLACED THE CLUSTER COSTING ME $591.00 PLUS THE COST OF THE DIAGNOSIS FROM THE FIRST DEALER OF $177.00. I FEEL FORD SHOULD STILL PAY FOR THESE REPAIRS DUE TO THE FACT IT CAME FROM THE FACTORY LIKE THIS. *TR
THE ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE IS THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. AT FIRST THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE FAILED TO WORK AND THE NEEDLE SHOWED THE TEMPERATURE COLD REGARDLESS OF HOW LONG THE CAR WAS RUNNING. NEXT THE FUEL GAUGE FAILED, IT WOULD WORK ERRATICALLY AND SHOW FUEL FOR DAYS OR COMPLETELY GO IN 360 ROTATIONS UNTIL IT FINALLY STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. AND RECENTLY, THE SPEEDOMETER GAVE AND REMAINS STUCK AT 30 MPHS EVEN AT IDLE. I'VE BEEN ABLE TO LIVE WITH THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE NOT WORKING, AND HAVE BEEN KEEPING TRACK OF MILEAGE TO DETERMINE MY FUEL REMAINING, HOWEVER, I DO NOT HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE TO JUDGE MY SPEED. I WILL UNFORTUNATELY HAVE TO REPLACE THIS PART. *TR
I HAVE EXPERIENCED TWO VALVE STEM FAILURES ON TWO DIFFERENT TIRES (PIRELLI P-ZERO) ON MY 2005 FORD MUSTANG. I HAD THE VALVE STEM REPLACED THE FIRST TIME AND WILL DO SO AGAIN. I WILL KEEP THE OLD VALVE STEM FROM THIS LATEST INCIDENT. *TR

WHILE LIFTING THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT SIDE LATCHES, WHICH OPERATE THE MOVEMENT OF THE SEAT TO THE BACK SEAT, THE LATCH SHATTERED INTO SEVERAL PIECES. THE OWNER WAS UNABLE TO ACCESS THE BACK SEAT DUE TO THIS FAILURE. THERE WAS NO WARNING PRIOR TO THIS FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT IS THE OWNER OF A VEHICLE OF THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL; THEREFORE, HE WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.

MY COMPLAINT IS ON MY 2005 FORD MUSTANG. THE SPEEDOMETER AND RPM WENT OUT A FEW YEARS AGO WHEN IT HAD APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES WHEN THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. AT LOOKING ONLINE THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME VEHICLE SAME PROBLEM. I CALLED GENE MESSER FORD AND THEY SAID IT WOULD COST $99 JUST TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. APPARENTLY IT APPEARS THAT THE CLUSTERS ON THESE VEHICLES WERE NOT MADE TO LAST. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE WITHOUT NOT KNOWING YOUR SPEED. MY VEHICLE BEGIN WITH THE SPEEDOMETER AND RPM JUMPING AROUND AND NOT DISPLAYING RIGHT SPEED AND THEN JUST STOP WORKING! WE HAVE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION SPEED SENSOR AND IT IS STILL NOT WORKING. SERIOUS LEAKING ISSUES ON NEW FORDS MODEL 05 THROUGH 08. MY BRAND NEW CAR HAD LEAKING UNDER THE FLOORBOARD WHICH CAUSED BLACK MOLD AND OTHER MOLD TO GROW CAUSING HEALTH AND OTHER PROBLEMS. I HAVE A 2005 FORD MUSTANG, 4.0 AND ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO THE CLUSTER STARTED GIVING ME PROBLEMS, FIRST THE TEMP AND FUEL GAUGES STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. A VALVE LOCK/CAP FAILED ON THE NUMBER 5 PISTON AND THE ROTARY ARM FELL INTO THE EXHAUST VALVE AND DESTROYED THE ENGINE AT ONLY 56,000 MILES. *TR
1. BEGINNING AT APPROXIMATELY APRIL, 2008, MY 2005 FORD MUSTANG GT BEGAN TO LEAK WATER INSIDE THE CABIN IN THE PASSENGER FOOTWELL WHENEVER IT RAINED HARD OR SNOWED. 2. THE FAILURE IS A GROMMET THAT CLOGS UP UNDERNEATH THE CABIN AIR FILTER. IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO REACH UNLESS YOU'RE A CERTIFIED MECHANIC. 3. THE FORD DEALER HAS CLEARED OUT THE AREA AROUND THE GROMMET, BUT IT IS A CONSTANTLY RECURRING PROBLEM THAT FORD HAS ISSUED A TSB FOR, BUT THEY HAVEN'T ISSUED A RECALL FOR SINCE IT USUALLY HAPPENS AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRES. I DON'T THINK IT'S FAIR TO MAKE CUSTOMERS PAY FOR A PROBLEM LIKE THIS THAT FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT SINCE 2005. *TR
THE BATTERY IN MY 2005 MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE HAS GONE DEAD TWICE. THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN OUT ON THIS, TSB 07-5-13 WHICH SAYS TO TELL THE OWNER TO BUY A BATTERY CHARGER. THIS TSB APPLIES TO 2005-2008 MUSTANGS, 2005 EXPLORER SPORT TRAC, 2005-2008 EXPEDITIONS AND EXPLORERS, 2007-2008 EXPLORER SPORT TRAC, 2005-2008 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR AND THE 2005-2008 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER. FORD KNOWS THERE IS A CONSTANT DRAIN ON THESE CARS THAT DRAINS THE BATTERY UNLESS THE CAR IS DRIVEN BASICALLY EVERY DAY. THEY REFUSE TO EVEN REPLACE THE BATTERY. *TR
WHILE GETTING ON THE FREEWAY, THE ACCELERATOR GOT STUCK, TAPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES TO TRY AND RELEASE IT ..STILL ACCELERATING. RPM'S WAS BURIED IN THE RED ZONE THE WHOLE TIME AND YOU COULD SMELL SOMETHING BURNING. TRIED PRESSING ON THE BRAKES, BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR WITH NO RESULTS. I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF TO THE BERM ON THE FREEWAY, SHUT THE CAR OFF AND COAST TO A STOP. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO CLAIMS THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY ERROR CODES DURING DIAGNOSTICS BUT COULD RECREATE THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID IT MY FLOOR MATS HAD GOTTEN UP UNDER THERE. THE LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED TWO DAYS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO BE REPAIRED AND SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR FAILED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06E089000 (SUSPENSION:FRONT). THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL COMES ON AT RANDOM OCCASIONS. AFTER STARTING THE CAR IN COOL WET WEATHER, OR AFTER THE 3RD OR 4TH STOP IN A SERIES OF ERRANDS. IT STAYS ON UNTIL I TURN THE IGNITION OFF. AFTER TURNING THE IGNITION ON AGAIN, SOMETIMES IT STAYS ON AGAIN, AND MUCH OF THE TIME IT GOES OFF AFTER THE INITIAL COMPUTER CHECK. OF COURSE THE DEALER SAYS THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING UNLESS IT IS ON ALL OF THE TIME. SO WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN IT DECIDES TO STAY ON? WILL IT NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT? *TR
2005 FORD MUSTANG ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. HE STATES THAT THE RPM'S WOULD BE UP TO 1500. HE STATES THAT SINCE THEN, NOW IT ACCELERATES UP TO 2500 RPM'S. *KB A FLIGHT RECORDER WAS INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE. THE FLIGHT RECORDER CAPTURED THE PROBLEM THE CONSUMER WAS REFERRING TO. THE FLIGHT RECORDER WAS THEN SENT TO FORD ENGINEERING AND THEY STATED THE COMPUTER WAS DEMANDING THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT SHIFT SMOOTHLY. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD CLUNK WHEN THE CLUTCH WAS LET OUT, ESPECIALLY IN LOWER GEARS. *JB
