This has happened since purchasing my personal 2006 Mustang GT new in 2006. I also see early S-197 Mustangs (2005—2007) in my shop that cannot be reliably refilled because fuel shoots out of the filler neck, splashes the operator, the side of the Mustang, and puddles on the ground. The defective On-board Refueling and Vapor Recovery (ORVR) system causes high internal fuel tank pressures that will also cause the filling station pump to cut off and prevent putting fuel in the tank. This creates a fire hazard as the spillage contacts the left hot tail pipe and muffler as well as a puddle of fuel that can be ignited by a spark, cigarette, etc. This problem is in direct violation of the Environmental Protection Agency emission standards that clearly state the operator is “expected to fill the fuel tank without spit back or spillage during the refueling event.” EPA emission regulations also require that service vents, also known as safety and vacuum relief valves, be installed in tanks to prevent excessive pressure or vacuum that can build up “due to tank filling or emptying.” The parts of the Ford ORVR system that contribute to the fuel tank pressure spikes and fuel spills include: 1.Poor fuel filler design. The filler pipe is narrow (5/8” to 3/4”) with a severe an S-bend before it reaches the tank. There is a spring-loaded plug at the top of tank built into the fill neck that closes the fill pipe until fuel pushes the plug down to open the fuel tank. 2.Poor fuel tank design. The saddle style tank has two sections that “saddle bag” over the drive shaft making the opening between the two tanks very narrow and at the top of the tank. 3.Insufficient tank venting system. The capacity of this vent system is not sufficient to vent the fuel tank during refueling. Please see attached file that documents the problem and possible solutions. I also recommend sharing your many complaints on this problem with the EPA as the problem is also in their area.
Driver side air bag randomly deployed after hitting bump at 40 miles an hour
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that she purchased a vehicle that was not working. The contact had the engine replaced by an independent mechanic. While starting the vehicle, the air bag warning light illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V319000 (Air Bags) and 19V001000 (Air Bags). The vehicle was repaired at the local dealer, but the failure recurred. The dealer informed the contact that a diagnostic test was needed. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 230,272.

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Mustang. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V001000 (Air Bags); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that several local dealers declined to perform the recall repair on the vehicle. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Did not sustain some sort of accident in order for me to notice thank God, I simply noticed thanks to multiple virtual methods which told me-considering how stupidly fast this car is and how important air bags are whe combined with that I thought id do this. Ford doesn't really care unless it can somehow bleed more money from something so...kinda just letting y'all know. Not much else I can do..other than drive really carefully (5-speed and I suck with Manual :()
Dealership refuses to do recall
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the front end of the vehicle made an abnormal clunking sound and shuddered significantly. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring while driving. The contact stated that the failure occurred increasingly while driving over a slightly bumpy road surface. The contact stated that her father inspected the vehicle and informed her that the front passenger's side suspension was damaged. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
I have a 2006 Ford Mustang GT; 100,000 miles, excellent condition. While driving and when turning, at any speed, the steering wheel locks making it impossible to steer. I took it to two different mechanics who would not work on the problem as they believed it to be a defect, and they did not want the responsibility of the repair required. I then went to the Ford dealership, and the service manager said he had never heard of such a problem. It is very dangerous, and impossible to determine when it will happen again. Therefore it sits in the driveway. I want to keep the car, and don't want to sell it to an unsuspecting person. Please help if you can. Thank you. The owners manual advised and encouraged me to contact the NHTSA.
While driving the car goes into limp mode randomly causing the RPM’s to fall. There is no power to get off the road safely and has almost caused an accident numerous times. I have had Diagnostics ran and the mechanic has no clue what’s causing this. Ford forums are full of these mustangs doing this. It is a huge safely risk!!!!
On June 18, 2023, my throttle unexpectedly stuck open after intentional acceleration, causing the car to continue to accelerate uncontrollably after releasing the accelerator pedal. The engine continued to increase RPMs and speed. After using all of my leg strength to apply the brakes to fight the uncontrolled acceleration, the throttle unexpectedly eased up and returned to normal. This was the most frightening instance. On two other occasions, I noticed similar uncontrolled acceleration that seemed to correct itself immediately after shifting, where the tachometer approached 5k RPMs. I have not had the vehicle inspected, and there were no warning lamps, or other symptoms prior to this failure.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while in reverse, he observed a grinding sound emanating from the engine compartment. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the timing chain guides needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.
For nearly a year now I’ve been in touch with Ford and its dealerships to get this recall rectified to no avail. I spoke to corporate Ford customer care on 2/6/23 and was told that the vehicle in question with the recall will not be repaired due to its age! So I responded on a recorded line to make it clear Ford is refusing to repair the recall and is opening its self up for a major law suit. Mind you my teenage son is the primary operator of the vehicle and Ford simply doesn’t care. Please file a violation to the said recall on our behalf ty.
Sudden failure of rear differential bearings
I have documented eight separate unsuccessful attempts to repair outstanding recalls on my vehicle due to Ford’s repeated refusal and continued failure to provide a loaner vehicle for the duration of the repair. Whether the required time is half-day or one week it makes no difference, I cannot run my business without a vehicle. Please advise how to proceed. Thanks
Vehicle was involved in a very serious accident which caused injuries and well as scared me away from driving fords….our young child was also in the car….. it is so scary that the air bags did. It work on vehicle at all……..
Rear differential bears wore out
DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING NORTH ON WILMA RUDOLPH BLVD AT 45-50 MPH IN CLARKSVILLE, TENNESSEE AND ATTEMPTED TO SLOW DOWN WHEN BRAKES DID NOT APPLY. SHE ATTEMPTED TO GO AROUND THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HER DIRECTION OF TRAVEL AND REAR-ENDED THE VEHICLE ON THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER QUADRANT. UPON REAR-ENDING THE VEHICLE, SHE HIT HER HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL THEN A SPLIT SECOND LATER AS HER HEAD WAS RETURNING TO THE UPRIGHT POSITION THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED "AFTER" AND "LATE". THIS AIRBAG WAS PART OF A FORD RECALL AND HAD BEEN REPLACED AT OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE HAD THE BRAKE SYSTEM SERVICED IN DECEMBER OF 2018 AND WE HAD INFORMED THE DEALERSHIP OF BRAKE SYSTEM FEELING "SPONGY". THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES WITH THE SYSTEM.
THE "WELL" UNDERNEATH THE WINDSHIELD BECAME CLOGGED WITH DEBRIS, CAUSING WATER TO BACK UP THROUGH THE A/C VENTS INTO THE CAR, DAMAGING THE ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. THERE ARE NO INSTRUCTIONS IN THE MANUAL RELATED TO SERVICING THIS PART OF THE CAR. ADDITIONALLY, THE DOOR HANDLES CAN BECOME "STUCK" IN THE OPEN POSITION WITHOUT THE DRIVER NOTICING BECAUSE THE DOOR STILL CLOSES; HOWEVER, THE DOORS MAY COME BACK OPEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS OPERATED. *TR
WE DO NOT OWN THIS CAR. IT WAS SOLD OUT-OF-STATE 1.5 YEARS AGO. SORRY, THOUGH FORD SHOULD KNOW WE DO NOT HAVE POSSESSION OR KNOW WHERE CAR IS.

THE CONTACT HAD RESEARCHED ONLINE AND BECAME AWARE OF A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: 10019387 (FUEL SYSTEM GASOLINE), WHICH DESCRIBED THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE CEASED WHICH CAUSED THE REAR BRAKES TO DRAG. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MIRACLE FORD, 1394 NASHVILLE PKE, GALLATIN, TN 37066 FOR REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO TOWN AND COUNTRY FORD, 101 ANDERSON LANE MADISON TN, 37115 FOR ADDITIONAL REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 174,000.

The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the front driver’s side seat belt latch to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,200.
2006 MUSTANG GT: TOOK THE CAR TO HOLMAN FORD DEALERSHIP FOR THE AIRBAG RECALL. WHEN REMOVING THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG THE THREADED HOLES ON BOTH THE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY AND THE HOLES ON THE FRAME OF THE CAR WERE STRIPPED. I WAS TOLD THERE IS NO WAY TO SECURE THE ASSEMBLY BACK ONTO THE CAR SAFELY. THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED FORD CORPORATE FOR A REMEDY. IT'S BEEN 2 MONTHS SINCE I DROPPED THE CAR OFF FOR THE RECALL AND OTHER NON RELATED REPAIRS. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CORPORATE AND WAS ISSUED A CASE NUMBER. IT'S BEEN A WEEK WITH NO RESPONSE FROM CORPORATE OR THE DEALERSHIP. I'M CONCERNED THAT IF AND WHEN THE REPAIR IS DONE, WILL THE REPAIR BE DONE CORRECTLY AND WILL THE CAR BE SAFE TO DRIVE. I FEEL AS IF ANY REPAIR IS DONE IT WILL BE JUST BE A QUICK FIX AND NOT SAFE. I'M AT THE MERCY OF THE DEALERSHIP AT THIS POINT TO RETURN MY CAR IN A SAFE AND SECURE CONDITION. I HAVE A FEW PICTURES THE DEALERSHIP SENT ME SHOWING THE STRIPPED THREADED HOLES. AT THIS POINT I'M NOT SURE WHAT COURSE OF ACTION NEEDS TO BE TAKEN. I GET RECALL NOTICES ON A WEEKLY BASIS WHICH INFURIATES ME CONSIDERING I HAVEN'T HAD MY CAR FOR 2 MONTHS FOR THAT EXACT ISSUE.
IN MY FORD MUSTANG AND MANY OTHER FORD MUSTANG THTA IV COME ACROSS FROM THE 2005-2007 ERA THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ALWAYS SEEMS TO HAVE A SLIPPING PROBLEM. WHEN U STOP AND TRY TO CHANGE GEARS THE CAR STUTTERS AND EVEN TAKE UP TO 4 SEC TO CHANGE GEAR EVEN WHEN THE DRIVER ONLY USES THE CAR AS AN EVERYDAY COMUTE. NO RACING, DRIFTING OR HEAVE PRESSEURE PUT ON THE TRANSMISSION YET THEY STILL GO BAD AND START TO SLIP CONSISTANTLY EVEN WHEN THE CAR DOESNT HAVE ALOT OF MILES ON IT. MOST OF THE TIME LESS THAN 60,000.

THEY PUT ME OFF, DO NOT RETURN CALLS OR MESSAGES, AND GENERALLY REFUSE TO DO THE REQUIRED REPLACEMENTS. DATE OF MOST RECENT CONTACT GIVEN.
ON 07/19/2019, SUBJECT VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON CLAY STREET IN THOMAS COUNTY, GEORGIA WHEN THE DRIVER CRASHED INTO A UTILITY POLE. OUR CLIENT WAS A PASSENGER IN SUBJECT VEHICLE AND SUSTAINED INJURIES FROM AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT THAT RESULTED IN LOSS OF HIS EYE AFTER GOING TO THREE SEPARATE HOSPITALS.
THE SPEEDOMETER, TACHOMETER, RPM, GAS GAUGE AND PROBABLY COOL/HEAT GAUGE AREN'T WORKING. I SEE A LOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING OF THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE MODEL YEAR ONLINE. WHAT CAN BE DONE TO FIX THEM? I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR YESTERDAY AND SPOTTED IT AS I WAS DRIVING CAR HOME
HAVE ATTEMPTED TO GET ON THE WAITING LIST TO HAVE AIR BAG MODULES REPLACED, HAVE BEEN TOLD "WE NEVER KNOW WHEN WE WILL BE GETTING THE NEEDED PARTS, JUST KEEP CALLING US" THIS HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR NOW AND NO PARTS AVAILABLE
WHEN I TRY TO PUT GAS IN MY CAR THE CAR WILL ONLY ALLOW ME TO PUT HALF OF A TANK IN THE CAR AND I HAVE TO FORCE IT TO TAKE MORE WHICH AS CAUSE THE GASOLINE TO OVERFLOW EVEN WHEN THE TANK IS NOT FULL. I HAVE TRIED TAKING IT TO VARIOUS GASOLINE STATIONS ALL DIFFERENT BRANDS TO SEE IF THERE ARE ANY DIFFERENCES BUT HAVE NOT HAD ANY SUCCESS.ALSO THE VEHICLE IS STAIONARY. TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. I DON'T OWN THIS VEHICLE ANYMORE. TRANSFERRED TITLE TO MY EX SPOUSE IN 7/18. MARYLAND MVA CONFIRMS VEHICLE RETITLED. I KEEP GETTING NOTICES FOR RECALL WITH MY PA ADDRESS ON THEM AND FORD WON'T CHANGE OWNER NAME OR ADDRESS. THEY ACTUALLY SEND THE RECALLS TO ME IN ANOTHER STATE THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN TITLED OR REGISTERED IN. I HAVE TRIED AND TRIED TO GET FORD TO SEND THE RECALL NOTICES TO MY FORMER SPOUSE WHO HAS THIS VEHICLE. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO COMMUNICATE TO EACH OTHER DUE TO "NO CONTACT" ORDERS IN PLACE. I THINK MY FORMER SPOUSE HAS A RIGHT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED BUT I CAN'T OR HAVE ANYONE I KNOW FORWARD THESE NOTICES TO THEM AND FORD JUST SITS THERE AND DOES NOTHING. I HAVE EVEN WENT TO THE POINT OF HAVING A LETTER SENT TO ME BY THE MARYLAND MVA CONFIRMING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS RE TITLED AND HAS A NEW OWNER AND FORD STILL WON'T ACCEPT THAT, THEY INSIST THEIR "THIRD PARTY" COMPANY GETS THE INFORMATION FROM THE REGISTERED VEHICLES IN EACH STATE. THE REGISTRATION FOR THIS VEHICLE WAS CANCELLED IN MY NAME AND THE PLATES WERE RETURNED TO THE MARYLAND MVA MONTHS AGO. THE LATEST RECALL NOTICE CAME YESTERDAY. IS IT GOING TO TAKE AN ACCIDENT OR POSSIBLE DEATH AND LAWSUIT FOR FORD TO COMPLY AND CHANGE THE OWNER INFORMATION? I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO TO GET THIS CORRECTED. I KEEP GETTING THE RUNAROUND AND APPARENTLY IT IS VERY CRITICAL THAT IT IS ADDRESSED.
TAKATA RECALL IT HAS TAKEN A YEAR FOR ME TO FINALLY GET MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS RECALL. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WOULD TRANSFER ME TO THE RECALL DEPARTMENT AND THEN I WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE A MESSAGE, THEY NEVER CALLED ME BACK. WHEN I AM ON BREAK FROM SCHOOL IS THE ONLY TIME I CAN ATTEMPT TO GET THE CAR IN BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT OFFER A LOANER CAR. I CALL REPEATEDLY THE ENTIRE BREAK 2-3 WEEKS AND FINALLY I HAD TO REACH OUT TO THE FURTHER DEALERSHIP TO FINALLY GET BACK TO ME. AGAIN NO LOANER FROM THEM EITHER. THEY OFFERED A SHUTTLE AND SPOKE AS IF IT IS QUICK, I HAD TO WAIT 80 MINUTES FOR A SHUTTLE ALONG WITH OVER 10 PEOPLE WHO ALSO NEEDED A RIDE. THEY ONLY HAD ONE SHUTTLE TO TRANSPORT PEOPLE HOME FOR EVERYONE. I ENDED UP PAYING FOR A TAXI HOME DUE TO MEETINGS I HAD TO GET READY FOR AND THE TAXI ARRIVED BEFORE THE SHUTTLE AFTER I WAITED 80 MINUTES.
TAKATA RECALL: I HAVE FORD RECALL 16V-384 AND THIS WAS CORRECTED 12-6-2018. I ALSO HAVE FORD RECALL NOTICE 15S21 AND ALSO 15V319. THESE LAST TWO RECALL NUMBER HAVE NOT BE COMPLETED AND THE FORD DEALER WHO DID THE WORK ON 16V384 SAYS THE OTHER TWO (15S21 AND 15V319) DO NOT APPLY. PLEASE HELP
THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT BELONG TO ME. PLEASE REMOVED ME FROM MAILING LIST AND CALL LIST.
WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ON MY GAY HOME AND WHEN I EXIT THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING STARTED LEAKING ANTIFREEZE AND MY TIRES GOT DAMPED WITH THE ANTIFREEZE AND THEN WHEN I WAS DRIVING ONE THE PAINTED ROAD MY CAR FISHTAILED AND LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR UNTIL IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP I WAS ABLE TO TAKE CONTROL AND TURNED BACK ON THE ROAD WHEN I GOT TO THE NEXT STOP LIGHT IT STARTED TO RELEASE STEAM FROM UNDER THE HOOD. GOOD THING I WAS A SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND I DID NOT HIT NOR GOT HIT BY ANY DRIVERS. I HAVE A DASH CAM THAT CAPTURED THE EVENT AS IT HAPPENED. THE VIDEO IS TOO BIG TO UPLOAD.
THIS IS JUST THE RECENT EVENT. HAPPENS MORE THE HALF THE TIME WHEN FUELING VEHICLE. WHILE STATIONARY, NEWER MODEL MUSTANG HAVE A SPLIT FUEL TANK EACH HOLDING EIGHT GALLONS. ONE HALF ON DRIVER SIDE , OTHER HALF PASSENGER SIDE , UNDER THE BACK SEATS, THE DRIVERS SIDE WILL FILL AND THE PASSENGER SIDE WILL NOT TAKE ANY FUEL. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHILE TRYING TO FILL THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE FUEL SPILLS ON THE GROUND . WHICH NOT ONLY CAUSES A FIRE PROBLEM , BUT MAYBE MORE IMPORTANTLY A SERIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM. I FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FROM GOOGLING IT THINKING I MIGHT BE ABLE TO FIX IT OR IF I NEEDED A NEW TANK AND OR PARTS. WHAT I FOUND OUT WAS THIS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE SPLIT TANK. FIRE IS A DEADLY AND PAINFUL ACCIDENT TO HAPPEN. THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT IS PERMANENT. MAYBE IT IS AN EPA PROBLEM.

FRIENDLY FORD (1-845-462-1900 EXT 169, LOCATED AT 2250 SOUTH RD, POUGHKEEPSIE, NY 12601) STATED THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED TO ADDRESS PART AVAILABILITY. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
I WAS GOING 25 MPH ABOUT TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AT STOP SIGN LET OFF GAS STEPPED ON BRAKES IT DID NOT SLOW DOWN PUSHING HARDER I FELT LIKE IT WAS ON THE ROTORS BUT DID NOT SLOW DOWN TILL A BMW HIT MY FRONT END. I HAVE HAD SAME ISSUES WITH STEERING WHEEL WOBBLE WHEN BRAKES APPLIED SOMETIMES. I PUT NEW FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS AND ROTORS AND SWAPPED WHEELS AROUND IT STILL WOBBLED SOMETIMES AND SOMETIMES NOT. I SUSPECT PROBLEM WITH TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM

TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED A NOTICE 12/2017 THAT SAID DO NOT LET ANYONE SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I RECEIVED A NOTICE 3/2018 THAT A REPLACEMENT AIRBAG WAS AVAILABLE AND I SHOULD CONTACT MY DEALER. THE DEALER (RT 12 GREENE NY 13778) HAS SAID (3 DIFFERENT CONVERSATIONS WHERE THE STORY CHANGED) THEY DON'T HAVE ANY AND ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ORDER THEM. THEY TOLD ME IF AND WHEN FORD DECIDES THEY SEND A LIMITED # TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO GET MY AIRBAG REPLACED IF THE DEALER CAN NOT GET THEM IN. I ALSO TRIED THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND WAS TOLD (LASHAWN) TO GO ELSEWHERE FOR MY COMPLAINT. PLEASE HELP, I WOULD LIKE TO DRIVE WITHOUT WORRY MY PASSENGER MAY BE INJURED. TAKATA RECALL THIS RECALL IS FROM 2016 AND WHENEVER I TRY AND HAVE TI FIXED I AM STILL TO THIS DAY I AM TOLD THAT THE "PARTS ARE NOT IN AND CANNOT BE ORDERED YET" THIS IS INSANE AND THESE COMPANIES NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR MISTAKES AND FOR USING DEFECTIVE PARTS TO CUT CORNERS AT THE DETRIMENT OF THE CONSUMER.
I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER IN THE MAIL ON 3/2018 HOWEVER FORD IN PUYALLUP IS NOT RECEIVED ANY REPLACEMENTS AS OF TODAY. I TRIED CALLING THE NUMBER ON THE LETTER BUT IT SAYS INVALID RECALL NUMBER (17S01) AND I CANNOT REACH A HUMAN. IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY CAR OR NOT?
TAKATA RECALL. I WAS NOTIFIED BY FORD THAT PARTS WERE AVAILABLE TO CORRECT THIS. HAVE BEEN WAITING ALMOST 2 YEARS. CALLED LOCAL DEALER AND THEY DO NOT HAVE PARTS. CONTACTED FORD AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO HELP EITHER. I WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THAT FORD IS NOT ABLE TO CORRECT THIS IN CASE THEY ARE REPORTING IT AS CORRECTED. IT'S NOT FOR LACK OF TRYING BY CONSUMERS TO GET IT FIXED.
TAKATA RECALL - JUST RECEIVED A NOTICE A FEW WEEKS AGO BUT WHEN I WENT TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AT THE DEALER THEY HAD ALREADY RUN OUT OF REPLACEMENT PARTS. THERE WAS NO SCHEDULED DATE FOR ADDITIONAL REPLACEMENT PARTS TO ARRIVE AT THE DEALER.
TAKATA RECALL - 16V-384. ON 4-16 I CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER (INTERSTATE FORD, COLORADO) AND TOLD THEM I WANTED TO GET MY RECALL PERFORMED ON MY VEHICLE. THEY TOLD ME THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAIL. HERE IN CO BUT ONLY IN THE HUMID AREAS. I TOLD THEM THAT I OFTEN TRAVEL TO HUMID AREAS AND THAT I WOULD LIKE THE RECALL PARTS INSTALLED. THEY TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO TALK TO FORD TO GET PARTS AS THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AND THEY, WENDY (2188296), TOLD ME THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE AND THAT I WOULD JUST HAVE TO WAIT. I TOLD HER WHAT I TOLD INTERSTATE FORD SERVICE DEPT. SHE TOLD ME IT WOULD BE OK FOR ME TO TRAVEL WITH A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT, WHICH IS OPPOSED TO WHAT FORD HAS STATED. SHE THEN TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO CALL BACK TO THE DEALER TO BE PUT ON A WAIT LIST FOR THE RECALL AS THEY COULD DO NOTHING AND KNEW NOTHING ABOUT PARTS AVAILABILITY. I TOLD HER THAT I NEEDED THE PARTS NOW, AS THE DEALER AND HER STATED THAT SOME DEALERS DO HAVE THE RECALL PARTS NOW (CONFLICTING STATEMENTS WERE MADE IN THE SAME CONVERSATION). I TOLD HER THAT I WANTED FORD TO GET THE PARTS SENT TO MY LOCAL DEALER TO HAVE THIS FIXED. SHE TOLD ME SHE COULD NOT DO THAT AND DID NOT KNOW WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. WENDY THEN SAID SHE WOULD CALL THE DEALER TO HAVE ME PUT ON A WAITLIST. SHE CALLED THE DEALER AS I WAITED ON THE PHONE LINE. SHE GOT BACK ON ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER AND TOLD ME THAT THE DEALERSHIP COMPUTERS WERE DOWN AND I WOULD HAVE TO CALL THEM IN 2 HOURS, WHEN THE COMPUTERS SHOULD BE BACK UP. I FEEL THAT I WAS GETTING THE RUN AROUND WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND FMC. EACH TOLD ME TO TALK TO THE OTHER AND NEITHER WAS ABLE TO TELL ME WHEN I WOULD BE ABLE TO GET MY RECALL PERFORMED. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET THE RECALL SCHEDULED TO DATE.
