THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 500 MILES A MONTH, 90% OF THE TIME BY MY WIFE. ON MAY 24, 2007 MY WIFE DROVE IT TO WORK AS USUAL. WHEN SHE ARRIVED AT WORK THE PARKING SPACE SHE USUALLY PARKS IN WAS OCCUPIED. SHE THEN PROCEEDED TO CIRCLE A SMALL ISLAND TO RETURN TO THE ENTRANCE DRIVE WHERE THE PARKING SPACES ARE. ONCE ONE WAS LOCATED SHE HAD TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN TO ACCESS IT. WHILE PULLING INTO THE PARKING SPACE AND PERPENDICULAR TO THE CAR STOP, ABOUT HALF WAY INTO THE PARKING SPACE, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. SHE HIT A TREE ABOUT 10 - 12 FEET AWAY FROM THE PARKING SPACE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP WE PURCHASED IT FROM AWAITING BODY & PAINT REPAIR. *TR
AT 19,000 MILES MY CAR BEGAN OVERHEATING DURING THE TEST DRIVE AND HAD RADIATOR FLUID SPILLED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. INSPECTING THE UPPER RADIATOR HOSES ONE OF THE CLAMPS WAS BROKEN. WHILE REPLACING THE CLAMP I DISCOVERED THAT ANOTHER ONE WAS BROKEN AS WELL. A SEARCH ONLINE OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM REVEALED SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. I NO LONGER HAVE THE OLD CLAMPS. *TR
AT THIS POINT, THERE IS NO SAFETY PROBLEM. BUT THE SYMPTOM SUGGESTS THE POSSIBILITY. THE SYMPTOM IS A BIRD-LIKE SQUEAK IN THE RIGHT FRONT SUSPENSION WHENEVER THE CAR ENCOUNTERS A SLIGHT UPWARD BUMP. THE DEALER CHECKED OUT THE CAR AND FOUND NOTHING AWRY. BASED ON MY OWN ANALYSIS I SPRAYED WD-40 INTO THE TIE ROD AND ROLL BAR BUSHINGS AND REALIZED A SHORT-TERM BENEFIT (NOISE GONE). BUT THE NOISE IS NOW BACK, AND I FEAR THAT THE CAUSE IS SIGNIFICANT. I'LL TRY AGAIN WITH MORE ROBUST LUBRICANTS, BUT I STILL HAVE A CONCERN FOR THE ROOT CAUSE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD MUSTANG GT. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE CONTACT GENTLY APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE UNEXPECTEDLY AT A HIGHER RATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE AND DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7785 UPDATED 4/14/09 *CN THE FIRST TWO INCIDENT NO CAUSE WAS FOUND. THE LAST INCIDENT, THE CONSUMER REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HER. SHE ALSO STATED THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. UPDATED 04/17/09.*JB
ALTERNATOR REPLACED 03/28/2007 GEAR SHIFT REPLACED 04/29/2008 ALSO REPLACED RADIO/CD PLAYER BATTERY REPLACED 04/01/2009 A/C COMPRESSOR 06/23/2010 ALTERNATOR 04/08/2011 BATTERY REPLACED 12/09/2011 CHECK CHARGING LIGHT STILL COMING ON. *TR
I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT WHEN MY WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I TRIED TO DRIVE BUT MY VEHICLE WAS JERKING REALLY BAD. I PRAYED DRIVING DOWN THE ACCESS ROAD THAT I WOULD JUST MAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP 10 MILES AWAY. I PULLED IN SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. THEY KEPT MY CAR OVERNIGHT AND WHEN I PICKED IT UP THE NEXT DAY THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT AND WHEN THEY TURNED IT ON NO WRENCH LIGHT. ONE WEEK LATER, MY CAR DID THIS AGAIN...EXCEPT THIS TIME I LEFT MY VEHICLE ON SO THEY COULD SEE THE WRENCH LIGHT. THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP...FAULTY. ONLY HAD 20,000 MILES ON MY 2006 MUSTANG V6. NOW IT IS NOV. AND MY MANUAL TRANSMISSION IS GONE. AFTER OWNING 6 STANDARD VEHICLES THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER HAD A CLUTCH GO OUT. DEALERSHIP SAID I GOT THE LAST PART IN THE US...BACKORDERED TILL MARCH 2008. I HAVE SINCE GONE TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE 2 TIMES...FIRST TIME WE STOOD IN LINE TO BE TOLD THAT THEY HAD TEST DRIVEN IT AGAIN AND THEY HAD TO RE-DO THE JOB. WENT TO PICK IT UP LAST NIGHT AND ALMOST GOT STRANDED WITH MY TWO KIDS BECAUSE IT WAS NOT DRIVABLE. FIRST IT WAS STUCK IN 1ST GEAR...HAD TO TURN THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL. SO THEN I TRIED TO PUT IT IN FIRST AND NO LUCK. THEN I TRIED ONE LAST TIME GOT IT TO MOVE ABOUT 20 YARDS FORWARD BEFORE I NOTICED THERE WAS A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THIS WAS AT 9PM...CALLED THIS MORNING AT 11AM AND WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS READY AND IT WAS THE STARTER. YEAH RIGHT. GOT ONE INVOICE LAST NIGHT ONLY NEED TWO MORE BEFORE THEY BUY MY LEMON BACK!! 2006 MUSTANG GT 4,445 MILES TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. WOULD NOT REPLACE WITH NEW HAD CAR FOR OVER 3 WEEKS. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD POP AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE RESTARTED AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE, BUT SUGGESTED THAT IT COULD BE THE INERTIA SWITCH. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. FOUR DAYS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE ONCE MORE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO DEPRESS THE INERTIA SWITCH WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURS. APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS LATER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE INERTIA SWITCH, BUT THE VEHICLE STILL WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY STARTED ABOUT AN HOUR LATER. THE DEALER HAS NOT DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS OF JUNE 14, 2007. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 9,800 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,500.
MY 2006 MUSTANG GT HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THREE TIMES WITHIN 2 MONTHS TIME. WHEN YOU MAKE A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN THERE IS A GRINDING SOUND. THEY HAVE INSTALLED 2 CLUTCH PACKS (KIT-AXLE DIF, 3 GEAR AND PINIONS, AND A NEW FLANGE. I KNOW IT IS NOT THE WAY THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. IT WAS BOUGHT NEW IN MARCH 2006 AND IT ONLY HAS 7000 MILES ON IT AND THIS IS FEBRUARY 2007. THE CAR IS NOT "BEAT" AT ALL. IF THESE VEHICLES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE HIGH PERFORMANCE VEHICLES. COULD YOU IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THE "REAR END" WAS TO LOCK UP? AM I THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM? ALSO THERE IS A TICKING SOUND THAT SOUNDS LIKE THE VALVES ARE RATTLING, THERE IS A TSB ON THE VALVES BUT DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM. I ONLY USE BP AND AMOCO GAS, THE GAS THAT IS PREFERRED FOR THE VEHICLE. *NM
VEHICLE CONTINUED TO NOTICEABLY ACCELERATE (WITHOUT FOOT ON ACCELERATOR) WHEN ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE FROM 35 MPH. CONTINUED STRONG PRESSURE ON BRAKE AS CAR CONTINUED TO ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE (ENGINE REVS CONTINUED TO RISE.) AFTER CAR'S BRAKES THANKFULLY OVERPOWERED THE ACCELERATION AND BROUGHT THE CAR TO A FULL STOP, THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND MOTOR REVVING STOPPED. *JB

TWO INCIDENTS- ONE OCTOBER 27, 2006 -TRANSMISSION QUIT ON AN OPEN HIGHWAY 47 MILES ON VEHICLE SECOND - DECEMBER 23, 2006 - UNINTENDED ACCELERATION - COMPUTER FAILURE CAUSING PROPERTY DAMAGE. *NM
HAVE HAD THIS CAR IN THE SHOP TWO TIMES PREVIOUSLY. ONE BECAUSE THE FUEL PUMP WAS BAD, THE SECOND BECAUSE THERE WAS A THROTTLE VARIANCE AND A VARIANCE IN THE TRANSMISSION AND THE WRENCH CAME ON IN THE VEHICLE THEN DISAPPEARED. THIS WAS CHECKED AND SUPPOSEDLY NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR, BECAUSE THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS OFF AND NEVER CAME BACK ON. ON SATURDAY DEC. 16, 2006 THERE WAS ANOTHER TRANSMISSION VARIANCE AND THROTTLE VARIANCE WITH THE CAR. TODAY, MONDAY DEC. 18, 2006 ON MY WAY TO WORK, THE ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF THEN DISAPPEARED. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW FREEZING, THE PARKING BRAKE WOULD BECOME STUCK IN POSITION. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO GET THE BRAKE TO RELEASE BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE UNTIL THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN RUNNING IDLE FOR AT LEAST 15-20 MINUTES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT WATER WAS GETTING ON THE CABLE FOR THE PARKING BRAKE AND FREEZING. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS A BOOT THAT STOOD STRAIGHT UP AND ALLOWED WATER TO ENTER THE CABLE AND FREEZE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
2006 MUSTANG GT WHEN IT GETS COLD THE PARKING BRAKE FREEZES NOT ALLOWING YOU TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENS ANY TIME ITS COLD! *TR
2006 FORD MUSTANG WITH GAS FILLING PROBLEMS**CC THE VEHICLE NO LONGER ALLOWS THE CORRECT FLOW OF GAS INTO THE TANK. WHEN THE GAS HOSE AND NOZZLE ARE INSERTED INTO THE TANK FOR FILLING, THE GAS WOULD STOP AT LESS THAN 10 GALLONS AND THE HANDLE ON THE GAS HOSE WOULD NO LONGER ENGAGE. THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY DIDN'T OFFER A FIX FOR IT. THE DEALER SUGGESTED INSERTING THE GAS NOZZLE AT A SIDEWAYS OR UPSIDE-DOWN ANGLE IN ORDER TO FILL THE TANK. THE CONSUMER STATED HE TRIED THAT IN PAST, WHICH RESULTED IN GASOLINE SPILLING. *JB
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE THE CAR LOST POWER MOMENTARILY AND THEN RESUMED NORMAL DRIVING. WITHIN A FEW MILES THE VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING A LOUD NOISE WHICH SOUNDED LIKE A FLAT TIRE. UPON BEGINNING TO MOVE TO SIDE OF ROAD, TAPPED BRAKES AND VEHICLE BEGAN ROCKING, SHAKING AND SCREAMING WITH METAL ON METAL NOISE. VEHICLE WAS ROCKING FRONT TO BACK AND FISHTAILING SIDE TO SIDE. VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND HAD NO BRAKES. UPON DISENGAGING BRAKE, VEHICLE CONTINUED TO MAKE METAL ON METAL NOISE, BUT WAS COASTING WITH LITTLE STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE ONTO AN EXIT RAMP, BUT UPON NEARING THE END OF THE RAMP I HAD TO TAP BRAKES AGAIN CAUSING CAR TO SKID SIDEWAYS, LOCK UP AND VIOLENTLY COME TO A STOP. UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE I SAW A LARGE PART OF THE CAR ON THE GROUND, GLOWING ORANGE. THIS PROVED TO BE THE DRIVE SHAFT. I WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL DISINTEGRATED CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE REAR END, REAR DRIVER SPRING, DRIVE SHAFT AND OTHER COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED. THIS WAS SUCH A VIOLENT INCIDENT IT CAUSED THE CLAMP WHICH HOLDS THE DRIVE SHAFT IN PLACE TO BE RIPPED FROM THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE WHICH CAUSED A HOLE, WHICH NEEDED TO BE WELDED, TO OCCUR. OLD PARTS WERE CONFISCATED TO BE RETURNED TO FORD FOR REVIEW. *JB
AROUND ONE MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR INTERMITTENTLY THE I WOULD ENCOUNTER SURGES WHEN STARTING TO GO AT LIGHTS OR PARKING THE CAR, COMING TO A STOP... NOW THE CAR IS STALLING SAME AS THE SURGES... I HAVE REPLACED MANY PARTS TRYING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. NOW IT HAS BECOME A SERIOUS HAZARD TO DRIVE AND COSTLY! *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 55 MPH, THE GROUND EFFECTS FELL OFF THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE VEHICLE HIT SOMETHING IN THE ROAD, BUT THE CONTACT DISAGREED. A NEW COMPONENT WILL BE CLIPPED ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD MUSTANG GT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE WOULD NOT RELEASE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE BUCKLE FINALLY RELEASED AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE SEAT BELT. THE CONTACT NO LONGER UTILIZED THE SEAT BELT DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A SERVICE WARRANTY FOR THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. UPDATED 05/08/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WERE TIMES, WHEN THE SEAT BLETS WOULD LOCK. UPDATED 05/15/12
TAKATA RECALL - - TAKATA HOLDINGS INC HAS FILED FOR CHAPTER 11 AND HAS NOT MADE A REPLACEMENT AVAILABLE FOR THEIR DEFECTIVE AND DANGEROUS PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WHICH IS STILL INSTALLED IN MY VEHICLE. I WANT IT REPLACED AND TAKATA MUST MAKE THESE REPAIRS IMMEDIATELY AT NO COST TO ME OR MY FAMILY. ANY PASSENGER IN MY VEHICLE IS AT RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH FROM SHRAPNEL SHOULD THE AIRBAG BE DEPLOYED. TAKATA HAS REPLACED THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG BUT HAS NOT MADE A PASSENGER SIDE REPLACEMENT AVAILABLE AND IT APPEARS THAT IT WILL NOT BECOME AVAILABLE. IN LIEU OF REPLACEMENT, TAKATA WANTS US TO AGREE TO A CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT AND WALK AWAY FROM THEIR RESPONSIBILITY WITH REGARD TO MANUFACTURING A SAFE REPLACEMENT PART TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE ONCE AND FOR ALL. WE WANT THE PART REPLACED, NOT A CASH SETTLEMENT!
APPLYING QUICK ACCELERATION IN ORDER TO PASS OTHER VEHICLES CAUSES THE THROTTLE TO STICK IN MY CAR. I HAVE APPLY HARD BRAKING AND TURN THE IGNITION KEY OFF TO GAIN CONTROL OF MY CAR. *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, HEADLIGHTS AND HEATER WOULD NOT OPERATE WHEN ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED AN ACCUMULATION OF WATER LEAKED ONTO THE PASSENGER FLOOR THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD LOWER SEAM. THE WATER LEAKAGE RESULTED TO A SHORTAGE IN THE SMART JUNCTION BOX WHICH CONTRIBUTED TO THE MALFUNCTION. THE TECHNICIAN RESEALED THE WINDSHIELD AREA. THE PROBLEM RECURRED AND HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,704.
DURING IDLE SPEED, CAR SHUTS OFF BELOW 1,000 RPMS AND HAS TO BE RE-STARTED. DURING STARTUP, CAR DOES NOT CRANK UNTIL ABOUT THE THIRD TIME IT IS TURNED OVER. THOUGHT AT FIRST THAT THIS WAS DUE TO BAD GAS. SO I FINISHED RUNNING TANK OUT WITH HEET, FILLED IT UP WITH GAS FROM A DIFFERENT COMPANY AND IT IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. IT IS NOT GAS. IT DOES TIE INTO THE DELIVERY OF THE FUEL OR THE IGNITION OF THE CAR WITH IS POSSIBLY A SENSOR PROBLEM. THERE ARE SENSORS THAT ARE NOT TIED INTO THE COMPUTER AND RELAYS AND DO NOT SHOW UP WITH THE CHECK SERVICE LIGHT. THIS SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED LAST MONTH, BUT THEN RE-OCCURRED DURING THIS MONTH MORE THAN ONCE AND THE MOST RECENT WAS YESTERDAY, 10/06/06. IT IS ONLY GETTING WORSE. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE ENGINE OR THE SENSORS. I HAVE GIVEN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT VARIOUS IDEAS, SINCE THE ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT ON, AS TO WHAT COULD BE CAUSING IT. THEY TOLD ME THAT IF THERE WAS NO LIGHT ON IN THE CAR THEN IT WAS MY PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY NEED A SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON IN THE CAR. IT IS NOT THE GAS THAT I HAVE PUT IN MY CAR. I RUN 87 OCTANE FROM SHELL. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH GAS FROM SHELL. ALSO, THE FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM IN THE CAR STICKS AND SHOWS EMPTY AND BOUNCES FROM EMPTY TO FULL TO HALF-FULL FOR MY TANK AND THE MILES PER EMPTY GAUGE ON MY DISPLAY METER JUMPED FROM 5 MILES TO EMPTY TO 300 MILES TO EMPTY DOWN TO 150 MILES TO EMPTY. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE REFUELING AT VARIOUS GAS STATIONS, THE PUMP SHUTS OFF OR FUEL SPILLED OUT ONTO THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THERE WAS A TSB THAT SUGGESTED A DIFFERENT GAS STATION TO BE USED TO FILL THE TANK.
TL*-THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE 2006 FORD MUSTANG GT HAD SUSPENSION PROBLEMS. EACH TIME HE HIT A SERIES OF POT HOLES IN THE ROAD THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD THUMPING SOUND ON THE RIGHT FRONT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE STEERING HAD MORE PLAY, AND SOMETIMES IT FELT AS IF HE WAS OVER STEERING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY REPLACED THE RIGHT FRONT STRUT ASSEMBLY. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER, AND WAS WAITING FOR THEIR RESPONSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT VEHICLE'S CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 8,000 MILES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8 MILES.*AK
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ACCELERATING FROM AN STOPPED POSITION, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FROM 50-90 MPH ON ITS OWN. BOTH FEET WERE APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE ACCELERATION STOPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THIS HAPPENED A SECOND TIME AND THE DEALERSHIP WAS STILL UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
PURCHASED 2006 MUSTANG GT JUNE 2006. AFTER RUNNING AC OR HEAT FOR 30 MINUTES, HEAR WATER DRIPPING ON PASSENGER DASH AREA. NO WATER ON FLOOR OR GLOVE BOX. TOOK IT TO FORD DEALER, THEY HEARD NOISE BUT COULD NOT FIND SOURCE. TAKING IT TO ANOTHER FORD DEALER TO TRY AND GET IT FIXED. *JB
STARTING AT APPROX. 50MPH I EXPERIENCE A SHIMMY IN THE STEERING WHEEL, MOST OF THE TIME. FROM TIME TO TIME IT WILL NOT SHIMMY WHEN I REACH THE 50MPH BUT AS SOON AS I STOP AND START AGAIN THE SHIMMY RETURNS. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND ALL THEY DID WAS BALANCE THE TIRES AND DID NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. SO I HAVE HAD THE CAR ALIGNED, TIRES/RIMS FORCE ROAD BALANCED, NEW ROTORS, BRAKE PADS,BEARINGS CHECKED AND STILL HAVE THE SAME SHIMMY. DEALER WILL NOT HELP AND I NOR ANYONE ELSE KNOWS WHAT TO TRY NEXT. *TR

SITTING IN THE DRIVERS SEAT LOOKING OUT LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT WINDSHIELD ATTENTION IS DRAWN TO THE "WAVING" WHITE LINES ON HIGHWAY CAUSING DISTRACTION OF ATTENTION. THE MOST SERIOUS DISTRACTION OCCURS AT NIGHT WITH APPROACHING/FOLLOWING HEADLIGHTS REFLECTED THROUGH THE REAR WINDOW DISTORTION INTO THE REAR VIEW MIRROR "FLASHING". HOW MANY ACCIDENTS HAVE THESE CARS BEEN INVOLVED IN AT NIGHT? HOW MANY OF THE DRIVERS REPORTED SEEING "FLASHING" HEADLIGHTS IN THEIR REAR VIEW MIRROR? FORD MUSTANG IN 2006 NOTICED DAYS LATER HEAT COMING UP FROM THE FLOOR OF THE CAR. IT WAS EXTREME & I TOOK TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES IN THE FIRST 3 MONTHS, BUT FORD DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING WAS WRONG. I DON'T TAKE THE CAR OUT ON LONG TRIPS AS THE CAR HEATS UP TOO MUCH IN THE INTERIOR AND THE FLOOR BY MY FEET GETS TOO HOT FOR COMFORT. I HAVE ABOUT 25K MILES ON THE CAR AS I WILL ONLY TAKE IT ON SHORT LOCAL ROUTES. TWO YEARS AGO THE FUEL TANK STOPPED WORKING RIGHT. I BELIEVE IT IS THE VAPOR LOCK SYSTEM. I HAD AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE WITHIN 1 MONTH OF OWNING THE CAR. I REPLACED ABOUT 4 BATTERIES WITHIN 6 MONTHS & CONTACTED THE DEALER AT LEAST 6 TIMES. THEY THOUGHT TO REPLACE THE STEREO, BUT EVEN AFTER THAT WAS REPLACED I STILL HAD THE ISSUE. I WAS STRANDED SEVERAL TIMES BY A DEAD BATTERY. THE DEALER & CORP SAID THERE WAS NOT AN ISSUE - THAT I JUST WASN'T DRIVING THE CAR ENOUGH & SUGGESTED I GET A CHARGER. AFTER A NEW BATTERY, I'D DRIVER THE CAR EVERY DAY, BUT WITHIN A WEEK OUR TWO, I'D HAVE A DEAD BATTERY AGAIN. I ASKED CORP HOW MANY MILES MUST I BE REQUIRED TO DRIVE IN ORDER FOR MY CAR TO WORK & THE REPRESENTATIVE SAID SHE DIDN'T KNOW, BUT SHE KNEW IT HAD TO BE MORE THAN WHAT I WAS DRIVING. AFTER ABOUT 5 YEARS, I FOUND A FUSE "FIX" FOR THIS ISSUE (THANKS TO A AAA SERVICE PERSON WHO WAS REPLACING ANOTHER BATTERY) & NOW I AM ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR, BUT I STILL DON'T TRUST I WON'T BE STRANDED AGAIN. I STILL CAN'T TAKE IT MORE THAN 20 MILES WITHOUT THE HEAT ISSUE BEING A PROBLEM AND FILLING THE TANK IS AN ISSUE DUE TO WHAT I THINK IS A VAPOR LOCK PROBLEM LIKELY CAUSED BY THE HEAT ISSUE. I SOUGHT HELP FROM MY FORD DEALER & CORP, BUT I HAVEN'T HAD ANY OF THESE ISSUES TAKEN SERIOUSLY. TODAY, AFTER HEARING ABOUT THE RECALL ON THE HEAT ISSUE, I CALLED UP DEALER & CORP & THEY BOTH SAID THERE WAS NOTHING TO BE DONE AS MY VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL.
STEERING VIBRATION/SHIMMY/ JUST A SHIMMY IN THE STEERING WHEEL BETWEEN 50 TO 65 MPH. I HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE TO BEACH FORD SEVERAL TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED IT, OTHER COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN CORRECTED FOR NOW. *NM
SQUEALING/GRINDING NOISE FROM REAR END ON LOW SPEED TURNS AT 7000 MILES. DEALER IDENTIFIED THE SOURCE AS THE REAR AXLE AND PUT IN A NEW DIFF CLUTCH PACK. VEHICLE WAS FINE FOR A FEW MONTHS BUT THE SAME SOUND HAS RETURNED, HOWEVER IT IS INTERMITTENT AND QUIETER. MILEAGE IS NOW ABOUT 14,000. REAR ENDS SHOULD NOT BE WEARING OUT EVERY 10K MILES ON A HIGH PERFORMANCE VEHICLE. *JB
WHILE ACCELERATING/PRESSING GAS PEDAL FROM A FULL STOP AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25+ MINUTES, VEHICLE HAS HESITATED AND THEN SURGED FORWARD AS IF IT LOST POWER OR GAS BUT NEVER COMPLETELY STALLED. SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN JULY 2006, THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED 15+ TIMES AS I BEGAN DOCUMENTING IT. DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, NOR HAS ANYTHING SHOWN UP ON THE CAR?S COMPUTER. NEXT QUESTION IS IF THEY PLACE A "BLACK BOX" ON THE VEHICLE. *JB

A 2006 FORD MUSTANG, WITH 5400 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, WAS INVOLVED IN A TWO VEHICLE TRAFFIC COLLISION. THE DRIVER OF THE MUSTANG REAR ENDED A FORD RANGER PICKUP TRUCK AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. UPON IMPACT, THE AIRBAG OF THE MUSTANG FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT FAILED TO LOCK AND RESTRAIN THE DRIVER. SINCE BOTH RESTRAINT SYSTEMS FAILED, THE DRIVER OF THE MUSTANG STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL WITH HER CHEST. EXTENSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED BY THE MUSTANG. AFTER THE COLLISION, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS FLASHING, AND THE SEAT BELT WAS FOUND FULLY EXTENDED AND WOULD NOT RETRACT. *JB
2006 FORD MUSTANG FUEL TANK SPILLS GASOLINE OUT WHEN TANK IS ONLY QUARTER FULL. *KB THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD TO TRY ANOTHER BRAND OF GASOLINE BUT THAT DID NOT ALLEVIATE THE PROBLEM. NEITHER THE DEALER/MANUFACTURER OFFERED ANY OTHER SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEM. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD MUSTANG. WHENEVER THE FUEL TANK WAS BEING FILLED, GASOLINE WOULD SPILL OUT. THE TANK WAS NOT FILLED TO CAPACITY. THE FUEL NOZZLE STOPPED WHEN THE TANK WAS HALF FULL, BUT GASOLINE STILL SPRAYED OUT OF THE TANK. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS TO THIS FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THIS WAS A MANUFACTURER DESIGN DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ENGINEERS ARE CONDUCTING AN EVALUATION. ON THE 27TH OF MAY 2006 I TOOK MY MUSTANG GT WITH ONLY 1,069 MILES TO BRUNSWICK FORD. THE CAR WAS SHIFTING LIKE A 95 GT HARD TO SHIFT ON THE WAY MY FUEL JET PUMP WENT OUT. THEY FIXED THE JET PUMP BUT SAID THE TRANS WAS FINE. AT 3,556 MILES I TOOK IT BACK FOR THE TRANSMISSION . IT WAS MAKING A WINDING SOUND THEY REPLACED THE INTERNALS AND THE NOISE WAS STILL THERE. SO THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. THEY HAD TO BLEED THE CLUTCH 4 TIMES TO GET IT TO SHIFT HALF WAY RIGHT .NOW AT 5,713 MILES THE REAR CALIPER WAS STICKING. THE REPLACED THE CALIPER. AND IT LEFT ME STRANDED AT WORK WITH A STUCK CALIPER. THIS IS A MUSTANG GT NOT A PINTO AND FORD NEEDS TO COME UP WITH A PLAN TO FIX THIS CAR. *NM
MY 2006 MUSTANG WAS JUST TAKEN IN TO THE DEALER FOR A PROBLEM WITH THE GAS TANK. I HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO FILL THE TANK WITHOUT DIFFICULTY. THE FIRST FEW MONTHS I OWNED THE VEHICLE I HAD TO FORCE GAS INTO MY TANK BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT FILL COMPLETELY. THE NOZZLE WOULD CONTINUALLY SHUT OFF AND NOT FULLY FILL THE TANK. AT THIS POINT THE PROBLEM HAS CHANGED AND NOW THE NOZZLE WILL "NOT" SHUT OFF AND IT OVER FLOWS *EVERY* TIME I FILL UP. THE DEALER HAS RECOMMENDS THAT I TRY DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS UNTIL I FIND ONE THAT I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM FILLING THE TANK AT. THIS IS NOT A FIX AND IT IS NOT CONVENIENT HOWEVER I HAVE TRIED ALL THE FORD RECOMMENDED GAS STATIONS BP, SHELL, AMOCO ETC. THIS HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM AND THE GAS TANK FILLING PROBLEM IS AN ON GOING ISSUE. NOT ONLY IS THIS ENVIRONMENTALLY UNSOUND BUT IT IS ALSO DANGEROUS AND CONSIDERING THE COST OF GAS IT IS ALSO EXPENSIVE FOR ME. AFTER 1 DAY OF THE CAR BEING IN MY POSSESSION I HEARD A RATTLING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR END OF THE CAR. MOSTLY GOING OVER SMALL BUMPS AT LOW SPEEDS. ON 5/18/06 I DROVE FROM BRANSON, MO TO KANSAS CITY, MO. I STAYED IN KANSAS CITY TILL SUNDAY ONLY DOING IN TOWN DRIVING THE FOUR DAYS THREE NIGHTS I WAS THERE. DURING THE TRIP HOME SUNDAY MID-DAY I WAS AVERAGING BETWEEN 65 AND 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER ABOUT 45 MINUTES INTO THE DRIVE HOME I APPROACHED A STOP LIGHT. AFTER ABOUT A 45 SECOND STOP AT THE LIGHT I WENT TO ACCELERATE. AS I SHIFTED INTO SECOND GEAR THE CAR DROVE NORMAL FOR ABOUT 35-40 SECONDS, SUDDENLY LOST POWER THEN JOLTED FORWARD. I ENCOUNTERED THIS SPORADIC JOLTING FOUR TIMES DURING MY DRIVE HOME. TWICE IN SECOND GEAR AND TWICE IN FOURTH. THREE OUT OF FOUR TIME NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THESE PARTICULAR VEHICLES ACCORDING TO MY PERSONAL RESEARCH. I DON'T FEEL AS THOUGH THESE VEHICLES ARE SAFE TO DRIVE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. AFTER RESEARCH ON INTERNET, FOUND MANY OTHER OWNERS COMPLAINING OF SAME ISSUE (SEE ALLFORDMUSTANG.COM'S 2005+ FORUMS) WITH SOME HAVING RESOLVE AFTER TANK AND / OR FILLER TUBE /VENT REPLACEMENT. TRIED THEIR SUGGESTION OF PLACING NOZZLE IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS DID NOT HELP. ALSO REFERENCE FORD SERVICE BULLETIN 06313 (NHTSA ITEM NUMBER 10019387) TAKING TO DEALERSHIP TOMORROW. NOT THE FIRST OCCURRENCE ON THIS VEHICLE. HAS SHUT OFF BEFORE PREMATURELY, BUT HAS ALWAYS RESTARTED WITH NO SPILLAGE / RECURRING. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 1200 MILES ON IT. *JB
I AM EXPERIENCING A WATER LEAK IN THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARD OF MY 2006 FORD MUSTANG GT. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES, AND IT STILL ISN'T FIXED. I HAVE SEARCHED ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. OTHERS HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS BECAUSE THERE IS A FUSE BOX LOCATED IN THE AFFECTED AREA. ACCORDING TO CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND THE SELLING DEALER, THERE ARE NO KNOWN TSB'S CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP HAS SEALED THE PLASTIC WIPER COWL, RE-SEALED A RUBBER GROMMET NEAR THE FIREWALL, AND THEY HAVE REPLACED A SEAL OVER THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. ACCORDING TO OTHER CUSTOMERS ON MUSTANGFORUMS.COM, THERE IS A SEAM BETWEEN THE A-PILLAR AND FIREWALL THAT WAS NOT SEALED PROPERLY AT THE FACTORY. AS I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM 5 TIMES NOW, I BELIEVE A LOT MORE PEOPLE PROBABLY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM BUT DON'T KNOW IT BECAUSE THEY HAVE A GARAGE. *JB
