This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. To compare this model year with others, use the year navigation in the sidebar or return to the model overview page.

When vehicle is placed in park while on, vehicle rolls forward . Put vehicle in park on the side of the road to answer a phone call. Was pulled up behind another vehicle and car rolled forward, and rear ended vehicle in front of me. The police were notified but no citation was given Another time vehicle was in park and running and ran over somebodies foot. very unacceptable
Airbag deployed while stopped in traffic on the 91 east freeway.
I was on my way to go do a clients hair on dec 1 2022 I was tragically hit by the airbag at a 2,000 force pressure My left side of my jaw is in pain As well as my skull I also have a condition on my chest musculoskeletal
ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL HAVE QUIT WORKING...
I was simply going up a slight hill and the wrench light turned on I lost power she still accelerated but sluggish and changing gears was sluggish too. Turned it off at the house made sure my CAI was good and the light is off. I see tons upon tons of people complaining about the wrench light and the throttlebody. No codes. Something is wrong with them I see people have trouble with 12k on their Throttle body. I wanted to go on here to say that I believe it is EXTREMELY dangerous for the issue to come and go especially on busy roads. The problem comes and goes without a trace. So dangerous it deserves a recall just like my airbag and the hundreds of thousands who reported it
The car make a ticking noise when you turn the air or heat on it’s been going on 3 years now
MY CAR IS AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT PLANET FORD IN SPRING, TX. I NOTICED A SMELL OF GASOLINE AND TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION WHEN I HAD THE PASSENGER AIRBAG RECALL DONE. I SPECIAL ORDERED THE VEHICLE IN THE SPRING OF 2009 THROUGH THEIR DEALERSHIP FROM FORD. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS VERY LOW MILEAGE, 28,000. THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT THE GAS TANK IS COMING APART AT THE SEAM AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO PAY $3000 TO REPLACE THE TANK. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER CARE WITH MY SAFETY CONCERNS AND REQUESTED THEY SEND A REPRESENTATIVE TO PLANET FORD TO INSPECT THE TANK FOR DEFECT AND WHAT MAY HAVE CAUSED IT. THEY TOLD ME THE FORD SERVICE MANAGER AT PLANET FORD WOULD HAVE TO DO THAT. WHEN I TOLD MY SERVICE REP AT PLANET FORD WHAT CUSTOMER CARE SAID, THE FORD REP/TECHNICIAN DENIED THAT THEY COULD DO THAT AND OFFERED ME KNOW FURTHER HELP WITH ESCALATING MY CONCERNS TO FORD. I WANT FORD TO SEE IF THERE WAS SOMETHING DIFFERENT WITH MY CUSTOM ORDER AT THEIR FACTORY THAT CAUSED IT? I WANT FORD TO COME AND SEE WHAT THEY BUILT AND SOLD ME AND TO NOTE THE SAFETY HAZARDS TO MY LIFE. I UNDERSTAND IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY. IT MAKES NO SENSE TO ME THAT THE SHRAPNEL IN THEIR DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS WERE MORE IMPORTANT TO THEM THAN A DEFECTIVE GAS TANK THAT'S COMING APART AT THE SEAM AND OFF-GASSING BADLY. THE GAS FUMES ARE VERY TOXIC AND VOLATILE AND COULD CAUSE AN EXPLOSION OR GIVE ME CANCER. FOR THE LONGEST TIME, I THOUGHT THE FUMES WERE NORMAL, SINCE THAT MUSTANG HAS THE CAP-LESS GAS TANK AND I WAS ASSOCIATING THE ODOR NEAR THE REAR AREA WHERE I FILLED-UP. IT TOOK FRIENDS AND FAMILY TELLING ME 'NO, THAT SMELL IS NOT NORMAL." AND THAT IT URGENTLY NEEDS TO BE ASSESSED.
FRONT SEAT BOLT BROKEN...
I GOT INTO A WRECK WITH A VEHICLE THAT PAST A STOP SIGN HITTING ME AT 120MPH. THE AIRBAG IN THE DRIVERS SEAT EXPLODED IMMEDIATELY. I HAD MY MUSTANG SERVICE IN GALVESTON FORD DEALERSHIP FOR MY AIRBAGS WITHIN A YEAR. LUCKILY I PUSHED MY SEAT BACK TO AVOID MAJOR INJURIES TO MY FACE.*DT*DT*JB AIRBAG HAS BEEN REPLACED *JB

IN DECEMBER 2018 MY CAR BEGAN TO MAKE CRUNCHING, SQUEAKING AND CHIRPING SOUNDS COMING FROM THE FRONT SUSPENSION WHEN DRIVING SLOWLY OVER UNEVEN SURFACES, SMALL CRACKS IN ROAD, GOING SLOWLY OVER SPEED BUMPS OR UP DRIVEWAY RAMPS. THERE IS ALSO A NOTICEABLE SHIMMY IN THE STEERING WHEEL AT OVER 30 MPH. IN JANUARY, MY FORD SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME I NEED TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLIES FOR APPROX $1,700 WHICH COMES AS A HUGE SHOCK TO ME CONSIDERING MY CAR HAS ONLY 14,000 MILES ON IT!!! I WENT HOME TO DO SOME RESEARCH FOUND A TSB FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS WITH A RE-DESIGNED CONTROL ARM WITH UPGRADED BALL POINT SHAFT AND HYDRO-BUSHING. TSB# 09-24-16 LINK: HTTPS://LATEMODEL.CACHEFLY.NET/DOWNLOADS/TSB05-14/TSB09-24-16.PDF THERE ARE LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON WEBSITES AND BLOGS ACROSS THE INTERNET WRITTEN BY OTHER MUSTANG OWNERS WHO HAVE FACED THE SAME PROBLEM AND HAD TO FIND LESS COSTLY AND POSSIBLY DANGEROUS AFTERMARKET SOLUTIONS. APPARENTLY FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS DEFECT SINCE 12/2009, HAS ENGINEERED UPGRADED REPLACEMENT PARTS AND YET HAS NOT MOVED TO PROACTIVELY REPLACE THESE DANGEROUS SUSPENSION/STEERING PARTS SINCE THEN. APPARENTLY, THEY ARE WAITING UNTIL A CUSTOMER COMES IN WITH A COMPLAINT TO NOTIFY THEM! A DRIVER COULD REASONABLY THINK THIS OFFENDING SOUND IS JUST A NATURAL SQUEAK ON AN AGING CAR AND CHOOSE TO IGNORE IT UNTIL THE THIN ORIGINAL BALL JOINT SHAFT GIVES WAY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR EVEN A FATALITY. I'VE ALREADY SPOKEN WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE SUPERVISORS AND THE FORD DEALER WHO BOTH SAY THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT HAVING FORD FIX THIS WITHOUT PUTTING THE FULL COST AND BURDEN ON THE CUSTOMER. THIS IS A TERRIFIC OPPORTUNITY FOR NHTSA TO COMPEL FORD TO GET THESE DANGEROUS PARTS OFF THE MANY CARS STILL OPERATING WITH THESE ADMITTEDLY SUBSTANDARD PARTS. THANK YOU
