Down shifting in to first and reverse problems nothing wrong with transmission
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the front windshield wipers independently activated. There were no warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the front windshield wiper fluid reservoir failed to drain the excess water as intended. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the cost. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic for a second opinion, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the windshield wiper motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired at the consumer's expense; however, after 3 months the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same local independent mechanic for the windshield wiper motor replacement. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.
Speedometer went to zero while driving and seemed to be in neutral. Could not accelerate. Also low fuel warning light came on when I had a full tank. After car was shut off and restarted speedometer seemed fine for about 1 mile, then self accelerated. Now continues to read zero and can not accelerate unless I restart engine.
I bought the car on Dec 20th 2024. The dealership informed me of the recall and turned off the passenger side airbag. I returned to the dealership as scheduled about 2 weeks later. When I went to pick up my car after work the service center said they couldn't fix the problem because the airbag didn't exist and sent me on my way. I tried calling the sales person but had to leave a message. There has been no other communication.
Transmission seems to lose power while driving, the car will barely pull itself but the rpms increase if I accelerate. This has happened several times while driving and occasionally there are dash lights lighting and speedometer/gas gauge doesn’t work but that doesn’t happen every time. When it happens I pull over and shut it down and restart and it runs correctly until it happens again! I do a lot of highway driving and the car just “falling flat” on a multi-lane highway at 70+ mph is definitely a safety issue! I have taken it to my local fastlane shop and the car was driven but didn’t malfunction at that time. He advised me to try to drive it there if it happened again, but I have never been close to the shop at the times it happens or they are closed. There is no advance warning, it happens at various speeds and even on takeoff after stopping for traffic lights. I once was pulling into traffic when it happened and didn’t have enough power to get to my lane before it fell flat! Fortunately I could back up before getting hit by oncoming traffic.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle started stalling. The contact pulled over to the side of the road; however, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was diagnosed with transmission range sensor failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V190000 (Power Train, Exterior Lighting) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
Recently started having erratic shifting issues. Will downshift randomly out of nowhere while driving. Sometimes will just be stuck in 1st gear and won’t go anywhere until I pull over and shut off/start up again. Dangerous because I never know when it will do it. Might seem like everything is fine and then all of a sudden, it downshifts and loses power. Rpm’s rise but car has no power. Have to figure out how to get out of the way. As stated in ford’s “ Customer Satisfaction Program 16N02,” my 2012 has all the symptoms and I have DTC code P0731 but dealer refused to service my vehicle because it doesn’t show up with my VIN, even though it’s a 2012 and I clearly need my Molded Leadframe replaced.
The transmission down shifted to first gear and the rear tires locked up. Skidding on the highway.
Windshield wipers turn on randomly and will not stay on when switch is on, also sprays washer fluid on windshield randomly and wipers do not work making it a very dangerous driving hazard
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving 55 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to first gear and the vehicle's rear tires ceased. Additionally, the speedometer failed. The air bag warning light, the traction control warning light and the check engine warning light were illuminated. The contact used an OBD reader and read the DTC code P0720. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V248000 (Power Train). The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or a dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.
There was a pencil mark on the inside tire wall where there was a leak. On the test drive there was a light on the dash indicating low pressure. Prior to pick up I was told it was repaired. On -27-23 I was driving the car and was lusting towards the center of the road after I regained control I had the tire checked at a tire shop and found that a patch had been put on the inside of the tire on the sidewall. The problem was reported to BBB and the dealer has not responded. I am in possession of the tire. No one has inspected the tire.
The rear end creaks and the 2nd gear grinds and pops out in the manual transmission
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the vehicle started to jerk and downshifted. The contact then stated that the speedometer and RPM’s started to fluctuate rapidly. All the warning lights were illuminated. As a result, the contact crashed into a metal road post and a tree. No injuries were sustained. No medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission seized and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed by the mechanic of the NHTSA Campaign Number 16V248000 (Power Train). The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified however, the contact was unsuccessful. The 90,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the rear wheels locked up and the speedometer displayed 0 MPH. The vehicle started sliding sideways, causing the contact to almost lose control of the vehicle. The contact was able to veer to the side of the roadway. The contact then pulled into the nearest gas station, parked, and turned off the vehicle. The contact resumed driving; however, the failure reoccurred while driving 40 MPH. The vehicle was towed to an unknown dealer who informed the contact that they could not diagnose the vehicle as the transmission specialist was not available. The contact drove to his residence. The vehicle was towed to a second dealer where it was being diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V248000 (Power Train). The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and shifting into the drive and reverse, the vehicle would no drive forward or move backward. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The local dealer was not notified. The failure mileage was 130,000.
Transmission unexpectedly slipped gear while driving at a steady pace in traffic. Caused RPMs to rev high and loud, with inability to control speed suddenly. Had to quickly pull over and turn off car. After waiting a few minutes, was able to restart car and continue driving without issue. This has happened 3-4 times now. Took to my local mechanic who stated there is an issue with a sensor inside the transmission. Spoke to my Ford dealer I purchased the car from, and was informed that this is a known issue occurring with many 2012 Form Mustangs, and they expect a recall to be announced shortly.
Speedometer went down to zero going 55mph. Car thought it was going 0 MPH, which causes transmission to go into first gear . Car reved awfully and had almost caused an accident both times this has happened to me. scanned the codes and it gives me p0722, common problem with these exact year mustangs and many other vehicles. Dealership denied my warranty to replace molded lead frame in transmission which causes this issue. This has already been a warranty extension and recall on many of these exact same cars and I do not know why mine doesn’t qualify. This is a huge safety issue and I’m left to fend for myself according to ford even though it is their products fault.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to exceed 50 MPH while the RPM decreased to 0. The check engine warning light and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that either the input shaft speed sensor or the output shaft speed sensor needed to be replaced. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that his vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V248000 (Power Train) because the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 153,000.
The transmission is leaking between where engine and transmission meet and it will not go into gears correctly
car stopped accelerating twice on my mustang 7/23/21.first time on the way to work in traffic and then again when I was going to lunch around 11:30.
Granddaughter driving to work this morning when car lost throttle response.was on the highway in traffic, had to maneuver to the side of the road and turn car off, then wait awhile and restart.made it to work without any more occurrences yet.car not scanned for codes yet.yes the wrench came on but went off after restart.
IAS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND LET OFF THE GAS, THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED SUDDENLY TO A LOWER GEAR CAUSING THE ENGINE TO REV UP TO 4000 RPM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE GEAR SHIFTER SLIPPED INTO FIRST GEAR WITHOUT WARNING. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WORKED AS DESIGNED. THE CONTACT CALLED GOSCH FORD TEMECULA (26895 YNEZ RD, TEMECULA, CA 92591, (951) 699-1302) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO PRODUCE POWER AND THE FIRST GEAR HAD CEASED. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V248000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000.
THE PAINT ON THE HOOD STARTING AT THE SEAM ON THE UNDERSIDE STARTED BUBBLING LIKE IT WAS RUSTING UNDERNEATH AND HAS SPREAD UP & AROUND ON THE TOP OF THE HOOD. THE PAINT IS NOW STARTING TO CRACK AND FALL OFF. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO FORD DEALERSHIP COLLISION CENTER AND TO AN INDEPENDENT COLLISION CENTER AND BOTH ADVISED THE HOOD NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND PAINTED. BOTH ADVISED THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND APPEARS TO BE SOME TYPE OF CONTAMINATION THAT OCCURS WHEN THE SEAM IS SEALED. THE QUOTES FOR THIS REPAIR ARE FOR $3400 & $3300. WHILE A 2012, OUR MUSTANG HAS BEEN KEPT UNDER A COVER AND ONLY HAS 24,000 MILES ON IT.
CAR SHAKES WHEN COASTING BETWEEN. 2K RPMS AND 3K RPMS CAR STARTS TO HESITATE AND ONLY WAY TO STOP THE SHAKING IS STEP OPN CLUTCH AND SHIFT TO ANOTHER GEAR OR STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL AND AFTER A COUPLE OF SECONDS IT WILL BEGIN TO ACCELERATE AND SHAKE MORE AGGRESSIVELY BEFORE RETURNING TO NORMAL OPERATION WITHOUT SHAKING WHICH WOULD BE VERY DANGEROUS IF I WERE TO TRY TO MATCH SPEED WHILE ENTERING A FREE WAY OR AVOIDING A POTENTIAL ACCIDENT.
2012 FORD MUSTANG. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AIRBAG SAFETY RECALL. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED HE CONTINUOUSLY RECEIVED AIRBAG RECALL NOTICES. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONSUMER TO DISREGARD THE NOTICES, AS THE RECALL DID NOT INCLUDE THIS VEHICLE. *JS
I WENT TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC IN MY CAR AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD A RECALL ON THE AIR BAG I PAID FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY DID THE RECALL ON MY CAR THEN TIME PASSED AND MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND HASN'T GONE AWAY EVER SINCE ALSO I HAD MY ELECTRICAL POWER RACK AND STEERING CHANGED MONTHS LATER FROM THE PREVIOUS VISIT! AND MY STABILITY CONTROL LIGHTS ARE ON I LITERALLY HAVE THE AIR BAG ,STABILITY CONTROL ,AND ENGINE LIGHT ON ! I DON'T GET IT I DO OIL CHANGE ON TIME I CHANGE MY BRAKES I KEEP MY CAR WELL MAINTAINED AND KEEPS GETTING WORSER ! I ALMOST HAD A ACCIDENT LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND SPUN OUT ON THE HIGHWAY THANK GOD I DID NOT CRASH OR CAUSED DAMAGES TO THE CAR IT WAS A VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD I COULD OF DIED OR BEEN HURT !
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR SHIFTS DOWN INTO FIRST GEAR ON ITS OWN WHILE THE DASH GOES BLANK AND THE SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING. IT WILL ALSO SHOW A WRENCH LIGHT AT TIMES.
driver and passenger airbags were replaced under a recall and now theres a airbag warning light showing up on my dash.
AIR BAG RECALL AND IAM HAVING A CODE FOR ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY CONTROL ISSUES THAT SHOULD BE A RECALL FROM WHAT I HEARD BUT MY LOCAL FORD DEALER SAID IT WASNT.
SAME AS EVERYONE I KNOW HIGH REV LOCKOUT, CAN'T SHIFT PAST 7KRPMS CLUTCH PEDAL STICKS TO THE FLOOR. GEARS ARE ROUGH TO GET INTO NORMAL. WILL HEAR LOUD CLUNKING WHEN CHANGING GEARS SOMETIMES. CAR HAS 35K MILES I BOUGHT IT WITH 17K MILES AND THE ISSUE HAS ALWAYS BEEN THERE. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED THIS COULD CAUSE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND ACCIDENTS IF IT FAILS ON HIGHWAYS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED TO APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH. IN ADDITION, THE WRENCH ICON ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KOONS FORD (3111 AUTOMOBILE BLVD, SILVER SPRING, MD 20904) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REBUILT OR REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE IGNITION SWITCH MOVES AND WHOLE CAR LOSES POWER AND STALLS
I WAS RECENTLY INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
'TAKATA RECALL'
WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE THE CAR, IT SOMETIMES SLOWS DOWN INSTEAD OF SPEEDING UP.
TAKATA RECALL - I WAS AT A STOPLIGHT DURING RUSH HOUR ON A BUSY CITY STREET. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND BEFORE I MADE IT 10 FEET THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME SLAMMED ON HIS BRAKES. I HIT HIM FROM BEHIND, IT WAS A VERY MINOR IMPACT BUT MY AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND EXPLODED/RUPTURED OVER MY LAP. IT SHATTERED MY IPHONE AND BURNED MY LEFT LEG ABOUT 6 INCHES ABOVE MY KNEE. UPON INSPECTION OF THE FRONT END OF MY CAR I SAW VIRTUALLY NO VISIBLE DAMAGE, ONLY A 2CM PAINT CHIP AND A VERY SLIGHTLY BENT LICENSE PLATE. MY CAR DRIVES PERFECTLY, THERE ARE NO INDICATOR LIGHTS EXCEPT FOR THE AIRBAG LIGHT. THIS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT I AM DEALING WITH A FAULTY DEFECTIVE TAKATA AIRBAG. I ALSO WANT TO ADD THAT I ALREADY HAD MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG REPLACED DUE TO A RECALL NOTICE I RECEIVED ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR AND DECELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. FOWLER FORD (LOCATED AT 3400 S SHERIDAN RD, TULSA, OK 74145, (918) 346-6500) WAS CONTACTED AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V248000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.
COMPLETE EPAS FAILURE
MY MUSTANG HAS BEEN DOING THIS MORE FREQUENTLY NOW, WHERE I'M DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFT TO LOW GEAR FROM HIGH GEAR. THIS AFTERNOON IT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO CRASH ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK ON THE FREEWAY. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND LIFE THREATENING. I WENT ON GOOGLE, TO LOOK UP IF OTHERS ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUES AND I CAME ACROSS A LOT OF MUSTANGS OF THIS YEAR HAVE THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. MATTER OF FACT, FORD IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT WHY HASN'T A RECALL BEEN PUT OUT TO FIX THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. A LOT OF LIVES ARE AT DANGER AND ACCIDENTS TO OCCUR DUE TO THIS PROBLEM.
TAKATA RECALL I TOOK MY FORD MUSTANG TO CAPITAL FORD, 4222 OLEANDER DR, WILMINGTON, NC, 28403 ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO FOR SERVICE. THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE AIR BAGS FOR PASSENGER SIDE RECALL AND WOULD ORDER ONE AND CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WHEN IT CAME IT. I CALLED THE FORD DEALER AGAIN YESTERDAY ABOUT THE AIRBAG AND SPOKE WITH ANOTHER PERSON, A FEMALE IN THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I ASKED ABOUT SCHEDULING THE AIR BAG REPLACEMENT AND SHE LOOKED UP MY RECORD OF SERVIE AT THEIR DEALERSHIP. ASTONISHINGLY, THE AIRBAG HAD NEVER BEEN ORDERED. THE ORIGINAL SERVICE ADVISOR CLEARLY COULD CARE A LESS IF THE BAG BLEW UP SPEWING SHRAPNEL IN MY PASSENGERS FACES, HOW GROSSLY NEGLIGENT. THE WOMAN SAID THEY WERE OUT OT AIRBAGS AND WOULD HAVE TO ORDER ONE AND SOMEONE FROM THE DEPARTMENT WOULD CALL ME BACK ABOUT IT AND ANOTHER UNRELATED ISSUE. INCREDIBLY, NO ONE HAS CALLED ME BACK. IT IS CLEAR THIS DEALERSHIP IS ONLY INTERESTED IN HIGH DOLLAR REPAIRS TAKING UP APPOINTMENT TIMES AND COULD CARE A LESS ABOUT THE EXPLODING AIR BAG DEFECTIVE PRODUCT THEY SOLD BECAUSE THEY CAN'T CHARGE FOR IT. I THINK THIS NEGLIGENCE AND CONTINUOUS KICKING THE CAN DOWN THE ROAD IS POLICY. THE DEALER HAS A MONOPOLY AND IS THE ONLY FORD DEALERSHIP IN THE CITY SO THEY CAN USE THAT ADVANTAGE TO BULLY CUSTOMERS AND REFUSE TO REPAIR DEADLY DEFECTS. I THINK AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS IS WARRANTED TO SEE JUST HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE BEING GIVEN THE "OH WE'LL HAVE TO ORDER IT AND CALL YOU BACK TO SCHEDULE IT" LIE. THIS IS CLEARLY IMMORAL AND REFLECTIVE OF THE OWNER'S GREED AND INDECENCY. SINCE THE ORIGINAL SERVICE ADVISOR FAILED TO ORDER MY REPLACEMENT AIRBAG MORE TYPES OF CARS HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THE RECALL. IT IS PLAINLY EVIDENT THAT THE OMISSION BY THIS COMPANY IS AN UNFAIR AND DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICE SERIOUSLY DETRIMENTAL TO THE CONSUMER ACTING REASONABLY UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES.
I HAD THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG REPLACED BUT THEY DID NOT DO THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AT THE SAME TIME SO NOW ITS A MAJOR INCONVENIENCE TO GO BACK INTO THE DEALER FOR ANOTHER ROUND OF WAITING. THEY SAID THEY WOULD COME TO MY HOME (AS RECALL NOTICE NUMBER THREE AND FOUR SPELLED OUT) TO PERFORM THIS SERVICE BUT THEY DID NOT SHOW UP AS SET UP IN ADVANCE. THE DEALER IS GOLDEN CIRCLE FORD IN JACKSON TN (731-554-7142) AND THE SERVICE REP IS MELINDA. SINCE THE DEALERSHIPS ARE NOT SERIOUS ABOUT PERFORMING THIS RECALL I GUESS LIKE MILLIONS OF OTHER OWNERS I WILL NOT TRY TO GET THIS DONE. THE DEALERSHIPS ARE NOT TAKING THIS RECALL SERIOUSLY AND FORD IS NOT PUSHING THEM TO PERFORM THIS SERVICE IN A TIMELY MANNER. I THINK YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO START PUT GROWING FINES IN PLACE TO GET THEIR ATTENTION.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING RACK FAILED SUDDENLY WHILE IN MOTION WITH NO NOTICE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO SHAKE AND VIBRATE. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION UNEXPECTEDLY DOWNSHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR. AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FORD COUNTRY (280 NORTH GIBSON RD, HENDERSON, NV), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND THE WRENCH WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JOHN BLEAKLEY FORD (LOCATED AT 870 THORNTON RD, LITHIA SPRINGS, GA 30122, (770) 941-9000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,667.
I WAS DRIVING A COUNTY BACK ROAD WITH NOBODY IN FRONT OR BEHIND ME. THE VEHICLE IS AN AUTOMATIC AND IT WAS IN OVERDRIVE AS MY SPEED WAS APPROX. 60 MPH. WITHOUT WARNING AND WITHOUT ME TOUCHING THE SHIFTER, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED INTO 1ST GEAR LOCKING THE REAR WHEELS UNTIL MY SPEED WAS REDUCED AND THEY BEGAN TO ROLL AGAIN. I NEVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BUT IT SCARED ME TO DEATH! THERE WAS LIGHT UP WRENCH SYMBOL ERROR WARNING. THE DASH TURNED RED AND ALL SPEED, FUEL LEVEL AND MILEAGE WAS BLANK. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND MADE SURE IT WAS ENGAGED. I PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON AND SHUT THE IGNITION OFF. CHECKED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WHICH WAS FINE. MY MUSTANG WAS MADE IN JANUARY 2012 AT THE FLAT ROCK ASSEMBLY PLANT. AS I BEGAN MY RESEARCH, I FOUND THE FORD RECALL 16S19. WHICH DESCRIBED EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED IN MY SITUATION. WHEN THE DEALERSHIP CALLED FORD FOR APPROVAL, THEY SAID MY VEHICLE WAS NOT AFFECTED BECAUSE MY VIN WAS NOT SHOWING IT AS AN EXPOSED VEHICLE. IT MANUFACTURE DATE, ASSEMBLY PLANT, TRANSMISSION TYPE ALL MATCH BUT SOMEHOW MY VIN WAS NOT SHOWING. I PAID $950 OUT OF MY OWN POCKET FOR THE EXACT REPAIR THIS RECALL CALLED FOR. WHICH CORRECTED THE ISSUE. HOW IN THE HECK IS MY CAR NOT COVERED WHEN I KNOW IT HAD THE SAME TRANSMISSION MOLDED COVER ISSUE... PLEASE HELP ME. I CAN PROVIDE MY REPAIR RECORDS TO SHOW IT WAS EXACTLY THE REPAIR PROCEDURE THE RECALL RECOMMENDED.
WHILE ACCELERATING ON A PUBLIC HIGHWAY THE THROTTLE WENT STRAIGHT TO REDLINE AND WOULD NOT DECELERATE UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND THE MOTOR WAS COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED BY SETTING THE KEY BACK TO RUN AND PLACING THE CLUTCH BACK IN 2ND GEAR WHILE IN MOTION. THE CAR COULD HAVE EASILY INJURED MOTORIST'S HAD IT NOT BEEN SHUT DOWN IN PROPERLY.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V001000 (AIR BAGS). CURRIE MOTORS FORD OF FRANKFORT (9423 W LINCOLN HWY, FRANKFORT, IL 60423, (866) 697-0924) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY ORDERED THE PART; HOWEVER, THE PART HAD NOT BEEN ORDERED. THE CONTACT SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER TWICE ONLINE, BUT HAD NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE TO VERIFY THAT THE PART WAS AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED TO ADDRESS PART AVAILABILITY. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AT APPROXIMATLY THIRTY M.P.H. STEERING WENT TOTALLY AWAY MID CORNER CAUSING THE CAR TO DRIVE ON CENTER DIVIDER ON A BLIND CORNER FOR TWO SECONDS UNTIL EPAS KICKED BACK ON AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL BACK INTO MY LANE AND CONTINUE MAKING THE CORNER. THIS SEPOSEDLY AFTER PROGRAM UPDATE AND IN NORMAL STEERING MODE. I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO BLINK AND FORTUNATLY NO CAR WAS COMING THE OTHER DIRECTION.
I HAVE BEEN TO MY FORD DEALERSHIP 4 DIFFERENT TIMES TO HAVE THE AIRBAG RECALL TAKEN CARE OF AND EVERY TIME I GO THEY SAY THE PARTS ARE BACK ORDERED. I DON'T BELIEVE FORD ANYMORE AND I DON'T BELIEVE THEY HAVE ANYMORE PARTS TO HANDLE THIS RECALL. I AM TIRED OF WAITING. THIS IS A CRITICAL RECALL THAT COULD KILL A FRONT PASSENGER IN AN ACCIDENT SHOULD THE AIRBAG DEPLOY. THEY ARE NOT TAKING THIS RECALL SERIOUS WHEN THEY STILL DON'T HAVE PARTS ALMOST 2 YEARS INTO A RECALL.
