DRIVING ON INT 10 SAN BERNARDINO CALIF, SLAMMED INTO VEHICLE BARELY MOVING AND I WAS DOING ABOUT 60MPH. HORRIBLE IMPACT AND DRIVERS AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. SEVERE RT HAND TRAUMA INCLUDING BROKEN INDEX FINGER.
RECALL WAS ISSUED OVER ONE YEAR AGO, I HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED ABOUT A REPAIR, I CONTACTED A FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD NO PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. I CAN NOT HAVE A PASSENGER RIDE IN MY VEHICLE DUE TO THE DANGER THAT MIGHT HAPPEN. FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD IMMEDIATELY REPAIR , REPLACE OR BUY MY VEHICLE BACK FROM ME.

WE HAVE BEEN CALLING OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO GET THE TRUCK SCHEDULED FOR THE RECALL AND THEY KEEP TELLING US THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PART IN. WE WERE FINALLY ABLE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT ON 06/08/18 AT THE DEALERSHIP BUT WHEN WE SHOWED UP THEY SAID THEY MADE A MISTAKE BECAUSE THEY HAD SOME PARTS BUT THEY WERE ALL OUT. THEY TOLD US THEY WOULD SCHEDULE US AS SOON AS THEY GOT THE PART IN AND THAT WE WERE PUT US ON A PRIORITY LIST. WE STILL HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THEM!! FORD TOLD US NOT TO DRIVE THE TRUCK BECAUSE OF THE RECALL WHICH WE HAVE NOT IN TWO YEARS!!!!! IT'S FRUSTRATING TO HAVE A TRUCK THAT YOU CANNOT DRIVE BECAUSE WE CANNOT GET FORD TO FIX THE AIRBAG ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000.

THROTTLE STUCK OPEN AT 3500 TO 4000 RPM. THROTTLE CABLE ABLE TO BE RETURNED TO IDLE MANUALLY FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT. ABLE TO REPEAT LOCK UP BY "GOOSING" ACCELERATOR (THIS AFTER SECOND OCCURRENCE). THIS IS USED COMMERCIAL VEHICLE. THERE IS NO CARPETING. NO CODES OR OTHER EXPLANATION RECORDED BY VEHICLE COMPUTER. FIRST OCCURRENCE, MECHANIC ASCRIBED TO LOSS OF AIR INTAKE DUE TO MOUSE NEST IN AIRBOX, WITH VEHICLE COMPUTER CAUSING ACCELERATION. LIKELY WRONG, LIKELY SAME AS SECOND OCCURRENCE. SECOND OCCURRENCE, MECHANIC ASCRIBED TO THROTTLE BODY CARBON DEPOSITS RESULTING IN BINDING OF THE THROTTLE LINKAGE (NO MOUSE NEST PRESENT). CLEANED THROTTLE BODY. HAVE ABOUT 20 MILES ON TRUCK SINCE CLEANING. ASSUMING CARBON BUILD-UP EXPLANATION PROVES CORRECT, THIS IS A SERIOUS CONDITION TO HAVE HAPPEN DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AT RELATIVELY LOW MILES.

I WORK DURING THE NIGHTS ON THE 8PM-4:30AM SHIFT. I WAS CHANGED TEMPORARILY TO THE 3:30AM - 12PM SHIFT TO COVER A COWORKER'S VACATIONS. I WORKED ON SATURDAY FROM 8PM-4:30AM AND THEN ON MONDAY FROM 3:30AM-12PM. AS A RESULT, ON MY SECOND DAY ON THIS NEW SHIFT, I DIDN'T REST WELL. ON TUESDAY, MARCH 11, 2014, I GOT OUT OF MY SHIFT AT 12PM. BY 12:30PM, IT WAS A SUNNY DAY BUT I FELL ASLEEP WHILE DRIVING. THE ROAD HAD A SLIGHT SLOPE. I CRASHED AT ABOUT 40-50 MPH IN MY FORD RANGER 2010 AGAINST A SEDAN THAT WAS WAITING FOR THE RED LIGHT. I WAS NOT CONSCIOUS TO HIT THE BRAKES SO ONLY STOPPED ON IMPACT. THE OTHER CAR INVOLVED SUSTAINED HUGE DAMAGES AND HIS TRUNK WAS BASICALLY PUSHED TO HIS BACK ROW SEATS. MY VEHICLE SUFFERED DAMAGES THAT LEFT THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE IN PIECES. I WAS NOT HURT AND NEITHER WAS THE OTHER PERSON BUT BY THE DAMAGES OF EACH CAR I THINK MY AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE WORKED AND THEY DIDN'T. I THINK IT'S A SAFETY CONCERN THAT AT THAT SPEED AND GIVEN THE DAMAGES INCURRED BY EACH CAR, THAT THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T WORK. *TR
EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILED COMPLETELY. EMERGENCY BRAKE ON THIS VEHICLE WOULD OCCASIONALLY FREEZE TO BRAKE DRUM WHILE PARKED IN WET, FREEZING CONDITIONS. THIS IS WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKES FULLY RELEASED. NORMALLY, A SLIGHT APPLICATION OF POWER WOULD "POP" THE BRAKE FREE AND THEN OPERATE NORMALLY. ON ONE OCCASION, THE BRAKE SHOES WERE WELL FROZEN TO THE EMERGENCY BRAKE DRUMS (THIS VEHICLE HAS DISC BRAKES WITH SMALL BRAKE DRUMS ONLY FOR THE EMERGENCY BRAKES) AND MORE POWER WAS NEEDED TO FREE THE VEHICLE, ASSOCIATED WITH A LOUDER "POP". AFTER THAT, THE EMERGENCY BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY NON-FUNCTIONAL. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR WITH NO ACTUATION OF THE EMERGENCY BRAKES. THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THERE WAS A PREVIOUS EMERGENCY BRAKE RECALL ON SOME VEHICLES OF THIS MODEL/YEAR TYPE WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V202000). IN THAT RECALL, THE CONSEQUENCE ITEM STATES "A MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLE PARKED IN NEUTRAL WITHOUT A FULLY APPLIED PARKING BRAKE MAY HAVE UNINTENDED MOVEMENT WHICH MAY CAUSE A CRASH." I USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE EVERYTIME I DROVE THE VEHICLE. MY DRIVEWAY IS SLOPED AND I APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WHEN I EXITED THE VEHICLE TO OPEN/CLOSE THE GARAGE DOOR. NOW I MUST SHUTOFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE EVERYTIME. I'VE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND SOME THINGS THAT MAY BE USEFUL. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLES ARE INTACT AND FUNCTIONING PROPERLY ALL THE WAY BACK TO ENTRY INTO THE BRAKE DRUMS. THE BRAKE SHOES ARE ARRANGED IN A TOP-BOTTOM SETUP INSTEAD OF THE NORMAL FORWARD-AFT SHOE SETUP. THIS ALLOWS THE LOWER SHOE TO SET IN ANY WATER THAT MAY ACCUMULATE ON THE LOWER AREA OF THE BRAKE DRUM, FREEZING IT TO THE DRUM IN COLD TEMPERATURES, EVEN WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKES RELEASED. I'M RELUCTANT TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL CONDITION SINCE IT WILL BREAK AGAIN WITHOUT A REDESIGN. *TR

I HAVE A EXTANG ENCORE TONNEAU COVER ON MY 2010 FORD RANGER THAT FLEW BACKWARDS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD DAMAGING THE REAR FIBERGLASS PANEL. THE FRONT LATCH ASSEMBLY HAS A POOR DESIGN IN WHICH WATER DRAINS DOWN INSIDE OF THE LATCH ASSEMBLY AND FREEZES AND ICE BUILDS UP. YOU THINK THE PANEL IS SECURED WHEN IT IS NOT. EXTANG NEEDS TO REDESIGN THE LATCH ASSEMBLY TO PREVENT WATER FROM GETTING INSIDE THE LATCH ASSEMBLY. WHEN I CONTACTED EXTANG THEY SAID THEY HAVEN'T HAD ANYONE ELSE COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS. THEY SENT ME A NEW PLASTIC WASHER AND O-RING FOR THE LATCH BUT WATER STILL DRAINS INTO THE ASSEMBLY. *TR
I HAVE A 2010 FORD RANGER. IT HAS 54,000 MILES AND THE HEATER HAS STOPPED WORKING. APPARENTLY THE HEATER IN RANGERS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR YEARS. TPMS ISSUE, THE TPMS SENSOR HAS FAILED ON THE FRONT LEFT TIRE. THIS IS WITH 2 YEARS SERVICE AND 10,850 MILES. FORD CLAIM THEY ARE NOT COVERING SENSORS SINCE THEY TAKE ABUSE FROM POTHOLES AND OTHER ROAD CONDITIONS. SENSORS WERE COVERED BUT THEY HAVE HAD TOO MANY PROBLEMS SO THEY WILL NOT COVER THEM ANY LONGER. I ASKED THEM TO DISABLE THE RECEIVER SINCE THERE IS NO TRANSMITTER. THEY STATED IT IS A SAFETY SYSTEM THEY CAN'T SINCE THIS IS A MANDATORY SAFETY SYSTEM I WOULD SUBMIT FORD HAS IMPROPERLY DESIGNED THE SYSTEM AND IT SHOULD WORK AT LEAST AS LONG AT THE WARRANTY. *TR

ON 9/11/2010 WE WERE SOLD A FORD RANGER THAT HAD AN OUTSTANDING TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL AND ALSO HAD A RUSTED THROUGH FRAME AND BODY. WE TOOK PICTURES AND RETURNED THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER ON 9/14/2010. THE DEALER WILL NOT ACCEPT THE TRUCK BACK AND WILL NOT RECALL THE LOAN EVEN THOUGH WE WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE DEFICIENCIES OR THE OUTSTANDING RECALL.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CLOCK ILLUMINATION WAS NOT VISIBLE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 400.
