THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE HAD CONDENSATION INSIDE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. WITH TORRENTIAL RAINS TWO WEEKS AGO, THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT TOOK ON AN INCH AND A HALF OF WATER INSIDE THE COVER, AND THE DRIVER SIDE HAD INCREASED CONDENSATION TO OBSCURE THE WHOLE COVER. THE CAR IS COMMONLY PARKED OUTSIDE MY APARTMENT (URBAN AREA) WHEN NOT IN USE. DATES ARE APPROXIMATE, AND I'VE PUT THE CAR IN THE AAA SHOP TO GET THE HEADLIGHTS REPLACED (BIG EXPENSE, AS THE CAR'S OLD ENOUGH TO VOTE!)
I WOULD SAY 7 TIMES OUT OF 10 WHILE DRIVING IN MY CAR THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT RANDOMLY POPS UNBUCKLED OR IF I REACH FOR SOMETHING IT UNBUCKLES. IT IS A LITTLE SCARY TO BE HONEST. SOMETIMES WHEN I BREAK THE SLIGHTEST PRESSURE CAUSE IT TO FAIL
WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED JUMPING AROUND, WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS THE RPM'S REVED UP HIGH. I STOPPED AT THE STOP SIGN AND THE CAR ACCELERATED BY ITSELF INTO THE INTERSECTION I CAME CLOSE TO HITTING ANOTHER CAR! I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR REPLACED TWICE ALREADY AND THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED . AS I WAS DRIVING IT HOME THE CAR HESITATED IN THE INTERSECTION THEN JERKED YOU CAN FEEL THE PULSING OF THE CAR AS IT ACCELERATES AND DEACCELERATES. IT IS A SAFETY HAZZARD
TL* THE CONTACT'S FRIEND OWNS A 1999 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT'S FRIEND HEARD KNOCKING NOISES COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE IF THERE WERE ANY WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT'S FRIEND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 187,000.
THE CAR HAS HAD YRANSMISSION REBUILT LAST YEAR AND IM STILL MAKING PAYMEMTS ON THE CAR. THEN 4MONTHS AGO I HAD THE SPEED SENSOR REPLACED RAN GOOD UNTIL DAY BEFORE YESTERDAY WHEN IT STARTING ACTING THE SAME WAY IT WAS BEFORE I GOT IT FIXED SO I JMOW ITS THE SPEED SENSOR AGAIN HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO FIX THIS CRAP BEFORE IT GETS RECALLED OR BEFORE SPMEONE GETS INTO AN ACCIDENT OR DIES
MAY 2016 I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND IT FELT LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING AND THE SPEEDOMETER WAS ALL OUT OF WHACK, THE RPM'S WERE GOING HIGHER AS I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL. I HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED, THE CAR HAS HAD MORE PROBLEMS AND WAS BROKE DOWN FOR ALMOST THE REMAINDER OF THE YEAR. DEC. 2016 HAD A NEW STARTER, POWER STEERING PULLEY, AND SERPENTINE BELT REPLACED. CAR RAN GREAT FOR 3 DAYS THEN THE SPEEDOMETER WASN'T WORKING AND FELT LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING OR COMPLETELY GOING OUT. I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPAIR THIS CAR I JUST FINISHED PAYING OFF THE $900 TRANSMISSION JOB, PLUS I AM STILL PAYING ON THE CAR! I AM A SINGLE MOTHER ON DISABILITY WITH NO MONEY FOR REPAIRS OR ANOTHER CAR. MY AC UNIT BLEW OUT AND STOPPED WORKING THIS SUMMER, NOW THAT IT IS RAINY SEASON THERE IS A PUDDLE OF WATER ON THE FLOOR OF MY FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE CALL REF NUMBER: 03V087000. COMPLAINT NUMBER: 10184014. I AM NOT SURE WHAT THEY HAVE DONE BUT IT RAINS IN WASHINGTON STATE AND MY CAR IS GOING TO STINK. PASSENGER SEATBELT WILL NOT RETRACT OUT OF HOLDER TO BE PUT ON PASSENGER. DRIVERS SEATBELT STAYING OUT, NOT RETRACTING BACK IN AS TO WORK PROPERLY.
I JUST BOUGHT A 1999 FORD TAURUS AND FOUND THE COIL SPRING FRONT DRIVER SIDE OUT OF PLACE CHECKING ON RECALLS SAYING THIS IS AN ISSUE FOR THIS CAR IM GUESSING THIS ISSUE WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN REPAIRED THEN WHY IS IT OUT OF PLACE AGAIN IN SAYING I DO NOT KNOW IF ANY OF THE OTHER RECALLS MIGHT HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED CAN I STILL HAVE THIS REPAIRED UNDER RECALLS AND ANY OTHER ISSUES. *TR

THE DEALER FOUND NO FAILURE WITH THE TIRES. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE REPLACEMENT TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED WITH THE GOODYEAR TIRES ON HIS 2000 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 152,000 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. THE DOT NUMBER AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN.

MY SON IS 22 YRS OLD HE BOUGHT THIS 1999 FORD TAURUS FROM A USED CAR DEALER IN MARCH 2013,HIM AND HIS GIRLFRIEND WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN,THE CAR JERKED TO THE LEFT REALLY HARD HE COULD NOT CONTROL IT NO STEERING CONTROL,NEEDLESS TO SAY HE WENT DOWN A DITCH THRU A YARD AND HIT THIS LADYS PARKED CAR IN HER DRIVE WAY TOTALING IT,AND HIT THE SIDE OF HER HOUSE,HIS GIRL FRIEND WAS CRITICALLY INJURED HAVING TO BE AIRLIFTED,THIS ACCIDENT RESULTED IN A SERIOUS INJURY AND SERIOUS PROPERTY DAMAGE,HIS GIRL FRIENDS SEAT BELT FAILED TO LOCK CAUSING HER TO GO FORWARD THE AIRBAGS DID DEPLOY BUT BECAUSE SEAT BELT FAILED TO LOCK HER HEAD ENDED UP HITTING WINDSHIELD WHEN SHE GOT JERKED FORWARD.,,,AFTER ACCIDENT HAD THE CAR LOOKED AT BY A MECHANIC,THE SUB FRAME HAD RUSTED OUT AND BROKEN AND THE LOWER CONTROL ARM HAD SNAPPED CAUSING THE CAR TO JERK TO THE LEFT AND CAUSING THIS SEVERE ACCIDENT. *TR
THE THROTTLE CABLE BROKE AND HAS TO BE REPLACED. I'VE NOTICED THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE THROTTLE CABLE SPECIFICALLY BUT I CANNOT FIND INFORMATION REGARDING THIS WITH THE NHTSA. *JS
ONE OF THE REAR BRAKE LINES RUPTURED CAUSING GRADUAL BUT COMPLETE LOSS OF NORMAL BRAKING. LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF IN TO A PARKING AREA JUST AS BRAKES QUIT WORKING COMPLETELY. CAUSE OF RUPTURE APPEARS TO BE RUST. RUPTURE OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY UNDER THE DRIVER SEAT LOCATION. NO PRIOR WARNING. *TR
WAS DRIVING MY 1999 FORD TAURUS AT A SPEED OF 30-35 MPH AFTER DRIVING AT 70-75 MPH STEADY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR ON THE HWY AND THEN WITHOUT ANY NOTICE WHILE DRIVING, THE SPEEDOMETER DROPPED FROM 30-35MPH TO 0-5 MPH AND STAYED AT THAT FOR ABOUT 3-5 SECONDS AND MY CAR TRIED TO DOWNSHIFT AND DEEXCELERATE AND ALSO DROP THE TRANSMISSION INTO A LOWER GEAR ALL ON ITS OWN WITHOUT ANY ATTEMPTS TO BRAKE OR SLOW DOWN FROM MY CURRENT SPEED OF 30-35 MPH. IT DID THIS TWICE WITHIN 90 SECONDS OF EACH TIME. SINCE I WAS LESS THAN A MILE FROM MY DESTINATION I MADE IT SAFELY TO MY LOCATION AND HAVEN'T DROVE IT SINCE. THIS ACTIVITY DID NOT OCCUR AT ALL WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HWY (41 NORTH) ABOUT 10 MINUTES PRIOR TO DRIVING AT CITY SPEED OF 30-35 MPH AFTER EXITING FOR ABOUT 2 MILES TO MY FINAL LOCATION WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE ANY STOP AND GO DRIVING EXCEPT WHEN I GOT OFF THE HWY AND SLOWED TO 30-35 MPH ONTO PROSPECT AVE IN APPLETON, WI. I DID NOTICE A SIMILAR THING HAPPEN TO MY CAR ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO, BUT AT THAT TIME THE ONLY THING THAT HAPPENED WAS THE SPEEDOMETER DROPPED FROM ABOUT 55 MPH TO 0 A FEW TIMES WITHIN 5-10 SECONDS BUT IT DID NOT TRY TO SHIFT TO A LOWER GEAR LIKE THIS TIME WHEN THE SPEEDOMETER AND RPM INDICATORS QUIT ON ME WHILE IN OPERATION. *TR
ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVE AND THE LEFT FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE AND PUNCTURED MY TIRE. NOW JUST THIS MORNING AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE RIGHT FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE AND PUNCTURED MY TIRE. I KNOW THERE IS A RECALL FROM FORD O4S17 FRONT COIL SPRINGS. HOWEVER THEY ARE SAYING MY CAR IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL SINCE MY CAR WAS NOT ORIGINALLY SOLD IN A SALT BELT STATE. WELL IT IS IN A SALT BELT STATE NOW AND IT IS BROKE. 2 FRONT COIL SPRINGS AND 2 TIRES. EVERYWHERE I CALL THE PRICE RANGE IS AROUND 1200 DOLLARS. I AM VERY UPSET WITH FORD. THEY SOLD A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE AND THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. I WOULD RATHER PUT THE 1200 DOLLARS TOWARDS A NEW VEHICLE THAN WASTE ANY MORE MONEY ON FORD. *TR
GOT A TRANSMISSION LEAK, THE TRANSMISSION PAN SEALS WERE REPLACED AS THEY WERE WET AND TRANSMISSION WAS FLUSHED AND REFILLED. NEXT DAY THE CAR WAS STILL LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID BROUGHT IT BACK TO SHOP WHERE THE SEALS IN THE TRANSMISSION PUMP WERE SHREDDED. WAS REPLACED AND AGAIN TRANSMISSION WAS FLUSHED AND FILLED. GET TRANSMISSION BACK IN CAR AND O/D LIGHT IS ON. REPLACED THE CABLES AND SILINIOD PACK. NEXT DAY DRIVING THE CAR AT 10 MPH THE CAR LOST POWER AND WAS LIKE IN NEUTRAL. PARKED CAR AND SHUT IT OFF. TOWED TO MECHANIC AND HE SAID TRANSMISSION IS BUSTED/BROKE AND NEEDS REPLACING. AFTER READING HERE SEEMS THIS TRANSMISSION ON THIS YEAR OF CAR IS CRAP AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED!! PLEASE MAKE THEM RECALL THIS TRANSMISSION AND PAY OWNERS FOR THERE SCREW UP!! THIS IS CRAP I LOVE MY CAR AND NOW THIS. MAYBE I GO FOREIGN. ON MARCH 11 2013 AS I BEGAN TO BACK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY MY FRONT LEFT COIL SPRING BROKE AND PUNCTURED MY TIRE. I KNOW THERE IS A RECALL FROM FORD NUMBER 04S17.WHEN THEY RAN MY VIN THEY SAID THERE WAS NO OPEN RECALL FOUND. AFTER CONTACTING 3 DIFFERENT MECHANICS THEY BELIEVE MY CAR SHOULD BE COVERED BY THIS RECALL. ALL 3 HAVE ADVISED ME TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT STRUT TOWERS. THE RECALL INFORMATION LISTED DESCRIBES EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CAR. MY CAR NEED TO BE FIXED THROUGH THE RECALL. THANK GOD I WAS NOT DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN THIS HAPPENED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AT A LOW SPEED, DEER RAN OUT IN FRONT OF ME AND I BRAKE TO STOP AND AT THAT TIME THE CAR SURGED AND ACCELERATED AT A HIGH SPEED WHICH CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR AND HIT A TREE HEAD ON. I PRESSED THE BRAKES AS HARD AS I COULD AND THE SPEED WOULD NOT DECELERATE. I SUFFERED A LARGE HEAD INJURY THAT REQUIRED 54 STAPLES TO CLOSE THE WOUND. I SPENT OVER A WEEK IN THE HOSPITAL, INCLUDING AN ICU STAY. THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS AND IS CAUSING INJURIES AND POSSIBLE DEATHS. *TR
DRIVING AT LOW SPEED MAYBE 25 MPH. WHEN REAR COIL STRUCT ASSEMBLY WENT BAD. COULD THIS BE A MANUFACTOR DEFECT? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, A DEER CROSSED IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND CAUSED THE CONTACT TO CRASH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE POLICE WERE NOTIFIED AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM VIA AMBULANCE FOR TREATMENT OF INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE. THE CONDITIONS OF THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 167,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE BRAKE LINE WAS REPAIRED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINE WAS CORRODED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 70,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.

I WAS GOING DOWN HE INTERSTATE WITH MY 3 KIDS WHEN MY CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING. MICHELIN HYDROEDGE HAVE DEVELOPED CRACKS IN BOTTOM OF ALL TREADS WITH ONLY 37,000 MILES ON A 90,000 MILE RATED TIRE. THEY DO NOT HAVE SIDEWALL WEATHER-CHECKING SO IT IS NOT A WEATHER OR CHEMICAL ISSUE. MICHELIN WAS ASKED TO PAY FOR AT LEAST 50% OF REPLACEMENT COST BUT THEY REFUSED. THERE IS ONLY 40% OF THE MILES USED ON THIS SET OF $600 SET OF TIRES. THE LOCAL DEALER SAID HE WOULD REPLACE WITH A DIFFERENT STYLE FOR $450, WHICH I DID. MICHELIN OWES ME $150. *TR

THE POWER STEERING FLUID WAS AGAIN REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,470.

I BOUGHT THIS 1999 FORD TAURUS IN 2011. I HAD TO HAVE THE POWER STEERING RACK REPLACED DUE TO IT LEAKING. ONCE THIS GOT REPLACED THE CAR BEGAN TO IDLE REALLY REALLY BAD WHEN THE AC OR HEATER WAS TURNED ON, THIS WOULD ALSO SOMETIMES OCCUR JUST SITTING AT A LIGHT WITH NOTHING ON. IT WOULD ALSO HAPPEN IN REVERSE SOMETIMES STALLING THE CAR. I HAVE PUT OVER 2000 INTO THE CAR TO TRY AND FIGURE IT OUT. I CAME ACROSS THE 2005 FORD FREESTYLE THAT IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE THAT IS BEING INVESTIGATED KNOW. I HAVE REPLACED THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE, MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR, CPU, THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, POWER STEERING POSITION SENSOR, CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR, ALTERNATOR, POWER STEERING RACK, AND THERE ARE A FEW OTHER THAT I WILL NEED TO FIND THE RECEIPTS FOR. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE ISSUE BECAUSE IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND ALSO MY FATHER IN LAW. IT SOMETIMES WILL HAPPEN RIGHT AS YOU ARE COMING TO A STOP SO IT JUMPS AND YOU ALMOST DON'T HAVE TIME TO STOP. I AM VERY FRUSTRATED WITH THE ISSUE AND AM GETTING READY TO SELL THE CAR. I HAVE TAKEN TO SEVERAL FORD DEALERS AND HAD THEM LOOK AT IT AND SEE WHAT WAS HAPPENING BUT COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD ISSUES WITH ALL OF THESE PARTS SO I REPLACED. A MINOR SLIPPAGE IN THE TRANSMISSION BECAME A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE IN LESS THAN A MILE. NO POWER TO ANY GEARS, HAD TO BE TOWED. ONLY REPAIR OPTIONS PRESENTED WERE NEW/USED TRANSMISSION, RANGING FROM 1500-3000 IN PRICE, EVEN THOUGH THE NATURE OF THE FAILURE WAS KNOWN BY THE DEALERSHIP AND THE OTHER MECHANICS I SPOKE WITH. OTHERWISE, GOOD CAR, BUT NOW IT SITS IN MY DRIVEWAY. I WOULD LIKE THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRED/REPLACED REASONABLY OR FOR FREE GIVEN THE COMPLETE AND TOTAL, SUDDEN FAILURE. *TR
