Vehicle Has A Heavy Power Steering Fluid Leak!!! Will Be Taking It To The Shop To Diagnose The Concern!!! I Was Checking To See If There Were Any Campaigns Or Recalls Reported!!!
IT PRESENTED A SERIES OF MISSED FIRED AND OVER HEATING ON THE ROAD , AFTER DRIVING AROUND 150 MILES , THE ENGINE LEAKING OIL AND IT LOSS POWER MAKE IT ON SAFE TO DRIVE . THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM IS ICED UP LIKE A FRIDGE AND LESS COOLING IN AN OVER WHOLE LOOK THE CAR NEED SAFETY CONTROL AND ALL OF THIS CAN CLEARLY SEEN ON THE CITY ROAD WAY .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO SHUT OFF, WHICH REQUIRED THE BATTERY CABLE TO BE DISCONNECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN THE EVENT THAT THE DAY TIME RUNNING LAMPS, HIGH BEAMS, AND FOG LIGHTS SHORT OUT. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
PART OF THE ENGINE, TOP PORTION CLOSEST TO THE FIREWALL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET NEAR MY RESIDENCE IN LANCASTER, CA. I NOTICED THE SMOKE EMITTING FROM UNDER THE HOOD WHEN I CAME TO A STOP AT THE STOP LIGHT.
Someone pulled out in front of me as I was slowing down to make a left turn. I T-boned their vehicle while going 35mph, resulting in a total loss for my 2000 Ford Taurus. (This was in 2018 so it was not a new car). My driver steering wheel airbag DID NOT deploy. I was wearing my seat belt. I still have chest pains when I sneeze and cough, even 4 years later (in November 2022, at time of writing), and in the last year (2021) received a cortisone shot in my left shoulder. I was offered a neck brace in the ambulance and was prescribed an arm sling in the hospital. I was diagnosed with whiplash. I believe I was given pain medication. Someone from the NHTSA in Indiana contacted me and we spoke briefly about it that week, so this may have been previously reported to this agency. I only found out this week that the 2000 Ford Taurus had a history of airbag issues, which is why I bring this up now. I think the car has already been scrapped, so no chance of examination unfortunately. As above, my safety was in jeopardy. Had I been going faster, I could have died. (Apparently someone DID die from a faulty Taurus front airbag.) I, to this day, have chest pain down to my elbows when I sneeze or cough. My doctor says it's a musculoskeletal strain. Ford has not issued recalls for airbags. The vehicle was declared totaled on scene by the police officer and then towed by a towing service. The towing service said the undeployed airbag was "a ticking time bomb" and really unsafe to attempt to repair. I sent pictures to the at-fault driver's insurance, so it was also inspected by insurance. I do not remember any seeing warning messages. I would have checked any unfamiliar warnings or dash lights. Side note: For number of injured, I think I was the only one to take an ambulance. At-fault driver first hesitated to call 911, but eventually did. There were two people in his car, including himself: driver, and passenger in front seat.
JUNE 2018 PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED WHILE BEING DRIVEN ON A CITY STREET BY MY GRANDDAUGHTER, NO THERE NO SIGNS OF A COLLISION. IT WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC.
TAKATA RECALL I CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE UNSAFE AIRBAGS AND THEY SEEMED TO FEEL AS IF IT WAS NO BIG DEAL AND TOLD ME THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX MY AIRBAGS.
TAKATA RECALL, I HAVE A BAD NOIZ IN THE MOTOR AND MY SUSPENSION IS BAD
RETURNING FROM LAKE GEORGE WE EXPERIENCED A LOUD RATTLING ,SHAKING NOISE. WITHIN SECONDS THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE PULLED OVER TO A SAFE SPOT AND WERE TOWED TO SUPERIOR AUTO ON 19TH ST. IN BROOKLYN. AWAITING PART SEARCH!?!
WHEN I MAKE A LEFT TURN, MY TRANSMISSION DISENGAGES & MY ENGINE RPM'S INCREASE UNTIL I RECOVER FROM THE TURN.

CAR FAILS TO ACCELERATE AT TIMES. GAS PEDAL IS DEPRESSED BUT ENGINE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE GETTING FUEL. AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS -- HITTING ACCELERATOR -- ENGINE WILL SUDDENLY "CATCH" AND LURCH FORWARD. SEEMS TO BE A THROTTLE PROBLEM, BUT FORD DEALER WILL NOT ADDRESS. EVEN THOUGH CAR FALLS IN RECALL RANGE FOR 2000-2003 TAURUSES WITH "STICKY" THROTTLES (RECALL WAS ISSUED IN 2013), DEALER SAYS IT IS "NOT ON RECALL LIST." OVER 450,000 VEHICLES ARE -- BUT APPARENTLY MINE IS NOT ONE OF THEM. SEEMS LIKE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO ME. YOU'RE DRIVING IN A 55 MPH ZONE AN SUDDENLY YOUR CAR SLOWS TO 20 MPH NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU PRESS THE GAS PEDAL. THEN AFTER 20 SECONDS IT SUDDENLY TAKES OFF? NOT GOOD. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35MPH AND I LET OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND NOTICED THE CAR WAS GAINING SPEED. I THEN SHIFTED IN TO NEUTRAL AND THE MOTOR BEGAN TO REV TO 4K RPMS. MY THROTTLE HAD GOT STUCK. I TAPPED THE PEDAL AND GOT IT TO STOP. TURNED AROUND AND PROCEEDED TO TAKE IT HOME AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN THIS TIME PUSHING ME THROUGH A REDLIGHT.
BROKEN SPEED CONTROL CABLE. BROKEN IN THE SAME PLACE AS PICTURED IN MANY ONLINE PHOTOS AS BEING RECALLED YET THE FORD DEALER SAYS THIS CAR IS NOT COVERED. SAME THING HAPPENED WITH A 1997 FORD EXPLORER WITH BROKEN SWAY BAR LINK. DOES ANYONE RESEARCH THE RECALLS, THEY ARE NOT COMPLETE. THE NHTSA IS NO BETTER THAN THE BBB. JUST A COMPLAINT BLOG.
MY 2000 FORD TAURUS SES IS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE RADIO AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS.WHEN I START THE CAR IN THE MORNING THE RADIO IS PLAYING AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE WORKING.AS I AM DRIVING THE CAR THE RADIO SUDDENLY TURNS OFF AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WON'T WORK.THE RADIO AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS WON'T WORK FOR THE REST OF THE DAY.THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I START THE CAR TO GO SOMEWHERE THE RADIO AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE WORKING AGAIN.AS BEFORE,WHILE I AM DRIVING THE RADIO GOES OFF AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOP WORKING AGAIN AND THEY WON'T WORK FOR THE REST OF THE DAY.
DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND IT WAS AS IF IT WENT INTO NEUTRAL. NO FORWARD OR REVERSE GEARS. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF ANYTHING ABOUT TO HAPPEN TRANSMISSION WAS NOT SLIPPING OR ACTING UP PRIOR TO THIS. JUST GLAD THERE WAS NOT HEAVY TRAFFIC AS THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A BAD SCENARIO. AFTER RESEARCH HAVE FOUND THIS IS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE ON THIS VEHICLE. WONDERING WHY FORD HAS NOT DOWN SOMETHING ABOUT IT. BOUGHT A FORD TAURUS BECAUSE WE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A VERY SAFE CAR FOR A YOUNG DRIVER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR AXLE WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND THE SUBFRAME THAT HELD THE TWO REAR TIRES WAS ALSO RUSTED AND FRACTURED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT HAD TO CHANGE THE REAR TIRES MORE FREQUENTLY. THE CHECK ENGINE AND ABS LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 300,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REGAINED CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BUT IT CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BACK AND NECK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SALVAGE YARD AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
DRIVERS SIDE FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE AND RUPTURED THE TIRE. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN CALIFORNIA AND MOVED TO NEW ENGLAND 10 YEARS AGO, SO IT HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO ROAD SALT. I CALLED FORD. THE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. I READ THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THE 1999-2000 FORD TAURUS FOR THIS PRECISE PROBLEM. IT IS VERY POSSIBLE I MAY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE OTHER COIL SPRINGS WHILE DRIVING AND NOT AS IN THIS OCCASION WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. MA 10/8 ....UPDATED 11/13/15 *BF *CN
2 MONTHS AGO ADVISED BY WALMART THAT TIRES WERE DRY ROTTING. 3 WEEKS AGO TOOK CAR IN TO MECHANIC AND WAS ADVISED TIRE WAS SEPARATING AND THAT ALL 4 TIRES NEEDED REPLACING DUE TO AGE AND DRY ROT. WENT BACK TO SAM'S CLUB BECAUSE I STILL HAD ABOUT 40% LEFT ON MY WARRANTY. THEY ONLY WOULD COVER THE ONE SEPARATING AND REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE OTHER 3 TIRES. TODAY, DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY, THE TREAD PEELED OFF THE TIRE DAMAGING MY CAR BUT LUCKILY NO ACCIDENT. ALSO FOUND OUT THE TIRE WAS MANUFACTURED OVER ONE YEAR BEFORE I PURCHASED IT. STARTED TO SMELL BURNED WIRES IN CAR. LOOK UNDER DASH AND SMOKE AND WIRES WHERE BURNED. BRAKE LIGHTS DONT WORK. READING ONLINE AND OTHER ISSUE WITH THIS CAR AND PEOPLE WHERE HAVING SAME ISSUE. WHEN I CALLED DEALER THEY SAID THERES NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE THEY ARE NO MORE RECALLS ON THAT. BUT I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND CAN CAUSE GREAT DANGER.
AS I APPROACHED A STOP LIGHT I HEARD A BRIEF FAINT WINE AND MY VEHICLE FROZE. I COULD TURN THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF AND SHIFT IT INTO GEAR BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I WAS PUSHED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND AWAITED A TOW TRUCK. WE CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION OIL AND FILTER HOPING FOR THE BEST BUT NO LUCK. THE CAR STILL SITS. *JS

CAR HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR A MONTH OR TWO. AFTER STARTING IT ONE DAY IN EARLY MARCH, OWNER HEARD SPRING ON THE FRONT, LEFT STRUT POP AND BREAK. THE CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION NOR HAD IT BEEN FOR QUITE SOME TIME. IN AN ATTEMPT TO TAKE IT TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, THE SPRING PUNCTURED TIRE. THE SET OF FOUR TIRES HAD BEEN RECENTLY PURCHASED BY OWNER. OWNER HAD TO PAY FOR TOW, BRAND NEW TIRE, AND BOTH FRONT QUICK STRUTS FOR VEHICLE PLUS LABOR COSTS. THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED ON 7-15-2004 REGARDING INSTALLING PANELS TO PROTECT THE TIRES FROM THE EXACT TYPE OF DAMAGES INCURRED. DAHL FORD DEALERSHIP STATED THE RECALL DID NOT APPLY TO VEHICLE'S SPECIFIC VIN, SO, THEY WOULD NOT PUT THE PANELS IN NOR REPLACE DAMAGED COMPONENTS AT NO CHARGE. OWNER ADVISED DAHL FORD THAT THIS RECALL WAS SENT FROM ADVANCE AUTO PARTS ONLINE GARAGE SERVICES, SO, IT CANNOT BE TOO INVALID. OWNER ALSO WAS TOLD BY EMPLOYEES OF A LOCAL MEINEKE CAR CARE CENTER THAT THE ISSUES FOR THE CAR SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. FORD MOTOR COMPANY REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REGISTERED IN ONE OF THE STATES WHERE THE DAMAGE TO STRUTS AND SPRINGS CAN OCCUR--FROM ROAD SALT--AND OWNER SPENT CLOSE TO $800 REMEDYING A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THE VIN DOES NOT INDICATE THAT THE PANELS WERE EVER INSTALLED AT AN EARLIER DATE, AND THE LACK OF DOING SO CAUSED THE EXACT TYPE OF ISSUE OUTLINED IN RECALL NUMBER 04S17. *TR
FRONT END UNACCEPTABLE! THEN DEFROSTER DIDN'T WORK IN WINTER AND I HAD TO USE MY SHIRT SLEEVE TO KEEP RUBBING THE WINDSHIELD. I TOLD AC COLLINS FORD DEALERSHIP THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE COIL SPRINGS AND BRAKES WHEN I BOUGHT IT. I ALSO TOLD THEM THAT THE AC WAS LEAKING IN CAR. I TOLD THEM THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHAKE WHEN I WAS BRAKING. I CAN SEND OVER THE EMAILS IF YOU LIKE. AC COLLINS SOLD ME THIS CAR WITH SERIOUS SUSPENSION PROBLEMS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS IN RAINY WEATHER, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED TO FUNCTION IN THE INTERMEDIATE SETTING. THE WIPERS WOULD ONLY OPERATE IN HIGH MODE. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE WOULD NOT UNLATCH OR LATCH WHENEVER ENGAGED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 01V258000 (VISIBILITY) AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNAVAILABLE.
ANOTHER CAR PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME AND I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, MY CAR SUDDENLY SPED UP TREMENDOUSLY AND I WAS BARELY ABLE TO STOP THE CAR USING THE BRAKES (THE ENGINE REVVED PAST 4 RPM!) I IMMEDIATELY PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR AND IT DID THE SAME THING (PAST 4 RPM!) THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE CAR DEALERSHIP. EVEN THOUGH THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE...THEY SAID THEY WILL NOT HONOR IT!!! ALTHOUGH I WAS IRRITATED THAT SOMEONE CUT ME OFF AND ALMOST CAUSED A WRECK, I LOOK AT IT AS A BLESSING IN DISGUISE. I WAS SECONDS AWAY FROM GETTING ONTO 610 IN HOUSTON RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. CAN YOU IMAGINE IF THAT CABLE HAD SNAPPED THEN AND ME CAR ACCELERATED TO A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND I WOULD BE UNABLE TO STOP?!?! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR COIL SPRING WAS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 193,000.
AFTER BEING PARKED IN GARAGE ALL NITE I NOTICED THE FLOOR WAS WET AS I WAS ABOUT TO LEAVE FOR WORK. I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL AND POWER STEERING FLUID AND NOTICED THE POWERING FLUID WAS LOW AND REPLACED THE FLUID THAT HAD LEAKED OUT. A FEW DAYS LATER MORE POWER STEERING FLUID HAD LEAKED OUT SO I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE RACK AND PINION. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM OR HAS THERE BEEN A RECALL? *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AND FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT A NEW TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE USED FOR VERY LITTLE MONEY, I HAD A LOT OF WORK DONE INCLUDING SOME BRAKE WORK. THE BRAKES COMPLETELY FAILED WHILE MY SON IN LAW WAS SLOWING TO EXIT AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. MY SON IN LAW DROVE THE CAR OFF OF THE ROAD, INTO A CITY PARK TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I SPOKE TO SEVERAL MECHANICS. ALL OF THEM INSISTED THAT THE WHOLE BRAKE SYSTEM COULD NOT FAIL AT THE SAME TIME. A GOOD FRIEND OF MINE, WHO IS NOT A MECHANIC, AGREED WITH THE MECHANICS THAT A TOTAL FAILURE WAS IMPOSSIBLE. THIS FRIEND SAID HE WOULD DRIVE THE CAR FOR A WHILE TO PROVE TO ME THAT MY SON IN LAW MUST HAVE MISTAKENLY HIT THE ACCELERATOR INSTEAD OF THE GAS. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS, HE HAD AN IDENTICAL EXPERIENCE - TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKES. FORTUNATELY, IT HAPPENED AS HE WAS PARKING THE CAR AND WAS ALREADY MOVING VERY SLOWLY. AFTER THAT I HAD THE MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED SINCE IT WAS THE ONLY MAJOR PART IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM THAT HAD NOT YET BEEN REPLACED. AGAIN, I SPOKE WITH MORE MECHANICS, INCLUDING SOME FORD DEALERSHIP MECHANICS. THEY DID NOT THINK THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER COULD CAUSE A TOTAL FAILURE, BUT COULD NOT COME UP WITH ANYTHING THAT COULD DO THIS. WITHIN A COUPLE OF WEEKS, THE BRAKES FAILED COMPLETELY AGAIN. I WAS ALREADY WORRIED THAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT NOT BE SOLVED, SO WE HAD BEEN DRIVING EXTRA SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY. I COULD NOT IN GOOD CONSCIENCE SELL OR TRADE THIS VEHICLE SO I TOOK IT TO SOMEONE WHO COULD HELP ME DISMANTLE THE CAR BEFORE JUNKING IT TO MAKE SURE IT DID NOT RETURN TO SERVICE. *TR

FRIDAY AFTERNOON I TOOK MY 90 YEAR OLD MOTHER AND DROVE TO CHICK FILET TO BUY A TAKEOUT LUNCH. I DROVE HOME TO MY MOTHER'S HOUSE AND WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BACKING UP THE CAR INTO HER DRIVEWAY. I STOPPED THE CAR AND LOOKED BEHIND ME TO CHECK FOR ANYONE WALKING AND THEN HEARD MY MOM SCREAM FIRE!, FIRE!. I QUICKLY TURN OFF THE CAR, GRABBING THE KEYS AS I WENT, YELLED AT MY MOM TO GET OUT AND THEN JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR AND RACED BACK TO OPEN THE TRUNK SO THAT I COULD GET MY MOTHER'S WALKER.
