CONSUMER HAS TO APPLY BRAKES A COUPLE OF TIMES TO GET TRANSMISSION TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN EXAMINED BY DEALER.*AK
TAURUS TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED TWICE AND BEEN FOR SERVICE 4 TIMES. LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIPS NON-RESPONSIVE WITH ASSISTANCE.*AK
WHEN I PURCHASESD THIS CAR FROM PEYTON CRAMER FORD LAST SUMMER I COMPLAINED ABOUT A GROANING NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THE FIRST DIAGNOSIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE RACK & PINION, WHICH I THOUGHT SOUNDED FAIRLY SERIOUS. WHEN THE PARTS WERE REPLACED THE NOISE WAS STILL THERE AND A NEW DIAGNOSIS WAS MADE AND MORE STEERING PARTS WERE REPLACED. I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALER TWO MORE TIMES BEFORE MY "SIMPLE" COMPLAINT WAS TAKEN CARE OF. I EXPRESSED CONCERN TO THE SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT THE NUMBER OF STEERING PROBLEM THEY FOUND AND WAS ASSURED THAT THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY SAFE. THREE WEEKS AGO AS I WAS DRIVING ON A FLAT, DRY STRETCH OF ROAD, THE CAR SUDDENLY MADE A VIOLENT RIGHT TURN. WHEN I TRIED TO CORRECT IT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE AS THE CAR CONTINUED TO THE RIGHT, SLAMMING INTO A CURB CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT FRONT SUSPENSION. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE MADE THE REPAIRS AND CLAIM THAT THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED. BUT, AGAIN, I WAS ASSURED THAT THE CAR WAS SAFE. I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS CAR IS SAFE AND WANTED TO TRADE IT IN ON A NEW CAR. WHEN I EXPLAINED MY SITUATION I WAS GIVEN A VERY "MINIMAL" DEAL TOLD THAT ANYTHING FURTHER COULD BE TAKEN UP WITH FORD. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WIH FORD (9007826298) AND WILL ALSO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA.*AK
ENGINE HAS STALLED APPROX. 10 TIMES SINCE PURCHASE 2 YEARS AGO--1ST TIME AT 2281 MILES, TECHNICIANS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM
CONSUMER STATES THAT WHEN STARTING UP THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING THE INTAKE MANIFOLD BLEW CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE INOPERATIVE. DEALER NOTIFIED. *MR
ENGINE DIED AT FREEWAY SPEED. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO THE SHOULDER AND RE-START ENGINE. THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE. BOTH INCIDENTS HAPPENED DURING HOT WEATHER. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP BOTH TIMES. DEALERSHIP COULDN'T FIND THE CAUSE.*AK
BRAKES ARE LEAKING OIL, AND WILL NOT HOLD. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
NAR 01/16/2003. THE CONSUMER HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION ON 4 OCCASIONS WHICH ULTIMATELY LEFT HIM STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY. *JB
VEHICLE STALLED AT 65 MPH AT DEALERSHIP AT THIS TIME. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 45MPH, THE CONSUMER HAD EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION ON THE RIGHT REAR TIRE, WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. *AK THE CONSUMER NOTICED A SLAPPING SOUND COMING FROM THE TIRE AS HE WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. THE CONSUMER THEN PULLED OVER TO TAKE A LOOK AND SAW NOTHING AND CONTINUED BACK DRIVING. THEN TWO MILES DOWN THE ROAD THE TREAD SEPARATED ON THE RIGHT REAR TIRE AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT REAR FENDER AND BUMPER. (4 CONTINENTAL P215/60 R16 94T TOURING CONTACT TIRES) *SCC
THE DRIVER IS UNABLE TO OPEN THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AND BOTH REAR DOORS FROM THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE DOOR ACTUATORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND REPLACED THEM NUMEROUS TIMES. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
WIRE ASSEMBLY TO BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH SNAGGED ON TO AND THEN WRAPPED AROUND THE STEERING COLUMN SEVERAL TIMES. THIS RESULTED IN A "NOOSE EFFECT" ON THE STEERING COLUMN THAT PREVENTED HARD RIGHT TURNS OF THE AUTOMOBILE AND EVENTUALLY BROKE OFF THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS ALSO RESULTED IN BRAKE LIGHT FAILURE. SPOKE TO FORD ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE REPRESENTATIVE AND INFORMED THEM THAT THEY SHOULD NOT BE GIVING DRIVERS DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO START THE CAR FROM A NEUTRAL GEAR POSITION TO BYPASS THE INTERLOCK MECHANISM BETWEEN BRAKE AND TRANSMISSION SHIFTER. I RECOMMEND THAT FORD EITHER LOOK AT SECURING THE CABLES OR COVER THE MOVING COMPONENTS OF THE STEERING COLUMN UNDER THE DASHBOARD.*AK
WHEN AT A STOP, BRAKE APPLIED, AND VEHICLE WILL LUNGE FORWARD. CONSUMER HAD TO APPLY BRAKES HARD TO STOP VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES, VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN EXAMINED BY DEALER.*AK

RECALL 01V048000 REPAIRS ON STOP LAMPS WERE DONE 1 YEAR AGO. AT THIS TIME BRAKE LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING.*AK CONSUMER STATES THAT THE SAME PART HAD TO BE REPLACED ONLY ONE YEAR AFTER RECALL. *SLC
TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED AFTER TAKING TO DEALERSHIP FOR 60000 MILES MAINTENANCE THEN EXTENDED WARRANTY WOULDNT COVER CLAIM WRITTEN BY MIDDLEKAUFF FORD. MIDDLEKAUFF FORD DIDNT WANT TO HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH ME. EASYCARE DIDNT WANT TO HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH ME. ENNIS FORD... WHERE I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR THE 60K MAINT.DENIES DOING ANYTHING..THIS COST ME $1400.00 OUT OF MY POCKET. *AK
SEAT BELT LOCKED AND WOULD NOT RELEASE. *AK
CONSUMER STATED HE BECAME STUCK IN TRAFFIC, HE WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO SEE IF PERHAPS LETTING THE ENGINE COOL OFF WOULD HELP, AFTER ABOUT ONE HALF HOUR, CONSUMER STARTED THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO PUT IT ANY GEAR, CONSUMER THEN NOTICED WHAT SEEMED TO BE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKING ONTO THE GROUND, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.*JB
CONSUMER IS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH ALL TIRES ON VEHICLE. HE WILL EXPLAIN FURTHER DETAILS. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK

TREAD SEPARATED ON FREEWAY @ 70 MPH. INNER LINER REMAINED INFLATED, CAME CLOSE TO LOSING CONTROL, MISSED CENTER DIVIDER BY 12" BEFORE COMING TO REST. NO INJURIES. MAJOR DAMAGE TO VEHICLE BODY AND WHEEL WELL ASSEMBLY. MECHANICAL DAMGE UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME
THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONSUMER HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON AGAIN ON. AFTER NUMEROUS TIMES OF SERVICING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. *JB
THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAS BEEN REPAIRED TWICE AND IS OUT AGAIN. THE ABS BRAKES FAILED ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING FRONT SUSPENSION ROD BROKE. *AK
BRAKES WHEN I PURCHASED CAR THEY WERE GOOD FIRST INSPECTION PERIOD CHAMPION FORD HAD TO CHANGE ALL EVEN MASTER CYLINDER THEY HAVE NOT WORKED RIGHT SINCE YOU FEEL AS IF YOU CANNOT STOP ON TIME. I COMPLAINED SEVERAL TIMES TO CHAMPION FORD I EVEN FILED A COMPLAINT AWHILE BACK WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY ABOUT THERE REPAIRS OF ANY TYPE ON MY CAR. I THEN BEGAN TO TAKE IT TO FERRARO FORD WHICH HAS NOW CLOSED UP BUT THEY WERE NOT HAPPY WITH THE BRAKES EITHER THEY EVEN CONTACTED FORD ABOUT WHAT MIGHT BE DONE. I JUST NEED TO KNOW IF THERE WAS EVER A RECALL OR SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
CONSUMER HAD RECALL 01V078000 REPAIRS FOR THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH. *AK HOWEVER, AFTER RECALL REPAIRS, VEHICLE WOULD GET STUCK IN PARK. DEALER REPLACED STOP LAMP SWITCH AGAIN. *TT
IT APPEARS THAT THE ORIGINAL CALIPERS ON BOTH REAR BRAKES BECAME FROZEN. ON SATURDAY, 5/18, 2002 I NOTICED A GRINDING SOUND. I TOOK THE CAR TO MIDAS ON MONDAY 5/20, 2002. ALL REAR BRAKE PARTS HAD TO BE REPLACED AS IT WAS A METAL TO METAL SITUATION. SINCE THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, I HAD THE REPAIRS DONE AT MIDAS.*AK
THE DRIVERS SEAT BELT DOES NOT RETRACT INTO THE SIDE POST ONCE IT IS UNBUCKLED. I STARTED NOTICING IT 2-3 MONTHS AGO BUT HAS GOTTEN WORSE TO THE POINT WHERE IT WILL NOT RETRACT AT ALL NOW. I'M CONERNED THAT IT WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY IN AN ACCIDENT. FORD TOLD ME THE SEATBELTS HAD WARRANTY UP TO 50,000 MILES BUT THEY WILL NOT HONOR THAT SINCE MY VEHICLE HAS OVER 50,000 MILES BUT THE PROBLEM STARTED WELL INTO THE 40,000 MILE RANGE. I PUT ON ABOUT 3,000 MILES PER MONTH. I'VE TALKED TO OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2000 TAURUSES. THE LOCAL SERVICE SHOP AT MCKIE FORD IN RAPID CITY, SD TOLD ME THEY HAVE HAD OTHER PEOPLE COME IN WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM BUT THAT IT WASN'T MANY PEOPLE SO THEIR IS NOT A CONCERN. THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COST ME $200.00 TO REPLACE MY SEATBELT ASSY. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY DEFECT FORD SHOULD FIX WARRANTY OR NO WARRANTY.*AK

AFTER GETTING RECALL 01V075000 REPAIRS DONE FOR PEDAL EXTENDERS CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT GEARS. ALSO, BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT DUE TO THIS RECALL.CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING.*AK

WHILE DRIVING OUT OF PARKING LOT, APPLIED GAS PEDAL AND PEDAL BROKE. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK UPON ENTERING HIGHWAY THE GAS PEDAL SNAPPED AND BROKE OFF. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. *JG
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS ON HIGHWAY VEHICLE WILL VIBRATE BADLY, AND ACT LIKE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING WITH A FLAT TIRE, WHICH WAS A RESULT OF STEEL RADIO BELT INSIDE THE TIRE. DEALER CONTACTED.*AK
BRAKE LAMP SWITCH REPLACED ON RECALL APRIL 2001. ON 3/8/2002 WENT INTO GARAGE AND FOUND BRAKE LIGHTS STUCK ON, CAR HAD DEAD BATTERY. HAD CAR TOWED TO AV FORD HAD TO PAY FOR NEW BATTERY, DIAGNOSTIC, AND NEW SWITCH. CONCERNED THAT THE RECALL REPLACEMENT SWITCH WAS DEFECTIVE CAUSING FAILURE. CONTACTED FORD WITH CONCERNS, REQUESTING A PARTIAL REIMBURSMENT OF THE $250.00. WAS TOLD SWITCH OUT OF WARRANTY. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE SAME THING WILL HAPPEN AGAIN SINCE THIS IS AN OBVIOUS DEFECT.*AK
DRIVESHAFT SEPARATED FROM THE WHEEL ON THE THE LEFT DRIVER SIDE. THE CAR PULLED SUDDENLY TO THE RIGHT, RESULTING IN A COLLISION AND THE CAR FLIPPING OVER.*AK
THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OF THIS VEHICLE LITERALLY FELL APART, WHILE THE CAR WAS BEING OPERATED. LUCKILY MY WIFE AND 3 CHILDREN WERE NOT ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS OCCURRED! AFTER HAVING THE TRANSMISSION LOOKED AT AND FIXED, WE WERE TOLD BY THE MECHANICS THAT A GEAR BROKE, AS A RESULT OF POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP. AS A RESULT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DESTROYED. THERE WAS NOTHING THAT WE COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING. FORD HAS A LONG HISTORY WITH FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS IN THE FORD TAURUS. FOR SOME REASON THEY ARE UNWILLING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. A TRANSMISSION WITH 42,000 MILES ON IT SHOULD NOT JUST FALL APART!*AK
VEHICLE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY AT ANY SPEED. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO DEALER 3 TIMES, FUEL PUMP AND STARTER SWITCH WERE REPLACED/COMPUTER WAS UPDATED, AND WIRING HARNESS WAS REPAIRED, HAS NOT REMEDIED THE PROBLEM.*AK
WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILLNOT OPERATE AT ALL. AIRBAG LIGHT APPEARS ON THE DASHBOARD INTERMITTENTLY. ALSO, WINDOWS WILL GO UP AND DOWN WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.*AK
THE PANELING ON THE INTERIOR OF THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS HAS PEELED COMPLETELY OFF. *NLM
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 7 TIMES TO GET THE IGNITION CHECKED, THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED BUT IS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM. NLM *TT
BOTH REAR DISC ROTORS (4 WHEEL DISC BRAKES) WORE OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT 24000 THOUSAND MILES. THE REPAIRING DEALER FOUND THAT THE CABLE FROM THE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TO REAR BRAKES WAS TO TIGHT CAUSING THE PARKING BRAKES TO BE SLIGHTLY ON ALL THE TIME WHICH CAUSED BOTH THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS TO WEAR PREMATURELY.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING BETWEEN 55-60 MPH AND HITTING THE BRAKES, THE FRONT END AND STEERING WHEEL SHAKE VERY BADLY. BRAKING IS VERY DANGEROUS. RESURFACING DISCS IS NOT THE ANSWER. THE ROTORS MUST BE REPLACED. FORD MOTOR COMPANY, NOT THE CONSUMER, SHOULD PAY FOR THIS AS THIS IS A VEHICLE DEFECT. I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AT THIS TIME.*AK
THERE IS A METAL SMELL COMING FROM HEATING VENT, MAKING CONSUMER AND PASSENGERS HAVE SORE THROATS, NAUSEA, AND LIGHT HEADEDNESS. *AK DEALER CAN NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. *SLC

CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION, AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS HIT FROM THE REAR BY A SEMI-TRUCK TRAVELLING APPROX 55MPH. CONSUMER'S VEHICLE THEN COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER CAR IN FRONT ON THEM. CONSUMER SUSTAINED SERIOUS INJURIES.*AK
WHEEL ALIGNMENT WAS OFF DUE TO CORROSION. ALL FOUR TIRES WERE WARPED, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK THE DEALER REPLACED REAR RIGHT AND LEFT SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARMS AND BUSHINGS TO CORRECT THE ALIGNMENT PROBLEM. THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR HAD FAILED AND WAS INSTALLED BY THE DEALER. (CONTINENTAL TIRE SIZE P215/60R16) *YH
