AS CONSUMER RELEASED THE BRAKE AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN, AND TURNED THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO WHAT SEEMED TO ABOUT 60 MPH IN ABOUT 10 SECONDS, THE VEHICLE WENT TOWARDS THE RIGHT AND STRUCK A CURB, AND THE BRAKES DID NOT APPEAR TO WORK, ONCE THE VEHICLE CAME TO A REST THE ENGINE THEN SHUT OFF, THE WINDSHIELD BROKE AND THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN, CONSUMER SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES.*JB
CONSUMER WAS SLOWING DOWN FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT WHEN VEHICLE STARTED TO ACCELERATE INSTEAD OF SLOWING DOWN. CONSUMER SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL , HEARD ENGINE REV. SHUT KEY OFF IN ORDER TO STOP VEHICLE. RESTARTED VEHICLE, AND IT RAN NORMAL FOR ANOTHER MILE. CONSUMER WILL CONTACT DEALER TO DETERMINE CAUSE.*AK CONSUMER HAS NOTICED THAT TAURUSES WITH ADJUSTABLE PEDALS HAVE A SOFTER BRAKE PEDAL WITH MORE PLAY THAN OTHER VEHICLES. *SLC

I WAS HIT FROM BEHIND - THE PERSON THAT HIT ME WAS GOING ABOUT 50 MILES PER HOUR AND THE FUEL CUT OFF SYSTEM FAILED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 15MPH IN TRAFFIC BRAKES WENT OUT AND CONSUMER HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER STATED BRAKES WERE BAD AND HAD TO BE REPAIRED.*AK
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER START-UP. CAR SPUTTERED DURING WARM-UP BUT DROVE FINE UNTIL ABOUT 1 HOUR OF INTERSTATE DRIVING. ONCE PULLED OVER, CAR WOULD NOT START. RECALL FOR FUEL RELAY MODULE I NEVER KNEW ABOUT. LOCAL DEALER FIXED PROBLEM BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN TODAY (08/26/01). CAR STILL SPUTTERS WHEN STARTED.
HAD TROUBLE WITH CAR STALLING AT 1200 MILES. ALSO VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE CONSTANTLY WHEN HITTING THE GAS, WANTS TO CUT OFF. HAS STALLED SEVERAL TIMES, AT ONE TIME VEHICLE JUST LURGE FORWARD. ON 7/21/00, WHILE DRIVING 60-65 MPH, IN HEAVY TRAFFIC VEHICLE JUST STALLED.

WHILE BRAKING THE CONSUMER CAN HEAR A BUZZING NOISE FROM THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCES EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE, THIS PROBLEM OCURS INTERMITTENTLY AND THE CONSUMER FEELS THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. *AK *NLM
MY GAS TANK DEVELOPED A HAIRLINE FRACTURE. THE DEALER IS REPLACING THE TANK. I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THIS IS NOT A REOCURRING PRODUCT FAILURE. *AK
VEHICLE WOULD STALL WHILE CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ON EXPRESSWAY. BUT VEHICLE WOULD RESTART EVERY TIME. PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT. *AK
IN READING TH IS PARTICULAR COMPLAINT WAS ONE THAT I ALSO EXPERIENCE DAILY AND AGREE WITH ORIGINAL COMPLAINANT IN A BLANKET APPEAL TO THE FORD MOTOR CORP TO FIX ON A RECALL LIST SENT SOON.THIS IS A 6-PASSENGER RATED SEDAN. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, BUT DEALER SAYS NOTHING WRONG. LAST WEEK I PUT THE CAR UP ON A HOIST AND MADE A VISUAL INSPECTION MYSELF, AND FOUND DEFECTS THAT I BELIEVE WARRANT A RECALL. THE PROBLEM: WHENEVER I HAVE ONE OR TWO PASSENGERS IN THE BACK SEAT, THE REAR SUSPENSION MAKE CLUNKING NOISES. DURING MY INSPECTION, I FOUND THAT THE TORSION BAR IS TOO WEAK AND ALLOWS A THE CAR TO BOTTOM OUT WITH A FRAME CROSSMEMBER HITTING THE TORSION BAR. THIS HAPPENS ON BOTH TORSION BARS. THESE ARE PARTS THAT ARE NOT DESIGNED TO HIT EACH OTHER (NO RUBBER BUMP PADS). IN FACT, IF I WERE NOT SO CAREFUL, THIS BOTTOMING OUT COULD BREAK THE TORSION BAR A CAUSE THE CAR TO LOSE CONTROL. IN ADDITION, THERE IS EVIDENCE OF THE TAILPIPE RUBBING AGAINST THE LEFT TORSION BAR WHICH COULD EVENTUALLY CAUSE A CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK UNDER THE CABIN. ALSO, THERE IS A BRAKE LINE THAT IS BEING RUBBED AND WORN BECAUSE IT IS WEDGED AGAINST THE LEFT TORSION BAR AND WILL EVENTUALLY WEAR THROUGH. I FEEL THAT ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS SHOULD BE CORRECTED AT NO COST TO ME BY THE DEALER. THE WEAK TORSION BARS THAT ALLOW THE CAR TO BOTTOM OUT MAY NEED A RECALL TO REPLACE WITH STRONGER ONES. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE WHO PURCHASED THIS CAR AS A FAMILY CAR AND REGULARLY PUT PEOPLE IN THE BACK SEAT. I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THAT YOU DON'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM ON YOUR RECALL LIST ALREADY. JM. *AK

DEALER HAS TO REPLACE COMPUTER SYSTEM AND OTHER PARTS. *AK CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE WINDOW TRIM HAS COME APART LEAVING THE WINDOWS SCRATCHED, ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, THE ENGINES EMISSION CONTROL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK IS INOPERATIVE, THE STEERING CLOUMN WAS REPLACED, FRONT TIRE KEEPS LOSING AIR, REAR BRAKES LIGHT NEED TO BE REPLACED. *JB
WHILE DRIVING TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED THE SAME DAY AFTER BEING REPAIRED AT DEALERSHIP. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER, AND MECHANIC INDICATED A DEFECTIVE REAR LOOP SEAL ON TRANSMISSION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WILL STALL OUT WITHOUT ANY WARNING. CONTACTED DEALER. THIS WAS A RESULT OF FUEL PUMP FAILING. HAD PUMP REPLACED 3 TIMES,BUT PROBLEM REOCCURRED. *AK
2000 FORD TAURUS DIES DURING NORMAL DRIVING. *MR THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE, AND WHEN IT DID START, IT DIED ON MANY OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE WOULD RUN ROUGH, AND THE GAS GAUGE WAS INOPERATIVE. THE FUEL MODULE WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE FUEL PUMP SENDER, UNDER DASH GAUGE MODULE, AND THE #2 SENSOR. *SCC *JB

THIRD BRAKE LIGHT WHICH IS LOCATED IN THE WINDOW BETWEEN TWO REAR SEATS BLOCKS VISION. *AK THE HEAD RESTS WERE TOO HIGH FOR SAFE VISIBLILITY. *YH

I HAVE HAD CAR BACK FOUR TIME. THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND WON'T GO OUT. THE DEALER THE LAST TIME PUT A NEW MODUEL ON SAID THAT WAS THE PROBLEM . THE LIGHT JUST CAME ON AGAIN I BOUGHT THE CAR FOR THE AIR BAG SYSTEM HOW SAFE IS IT??? I WANT A NEW CAR. *AK
TIRE BLEW OUT. TIRES HAD BEEN SERVICEED TWO DAYS PRIOR TO INCIDENT. TIRES HAD BEEN BALENCED, ROTATED, AIR PRESSURE CHECKED, AND WHEELS ALIGNED BY TIRE SERVICE CENTER. INCIDENT ACCURED AFTER DRIVING AOR APPROX 2-3 HOUS AT 65-70 MPH ON FRY HIGHWAY. TIRE FAILED AT SIDEWALL. TREAD REMAINED INTACT. DEALERSHIP INSPECTED TIRE. COULD FIND NO EVIDENCE OF TREAD FAILURE OR PUNCTURE. FIRESTONE PRODUCT WARRANTY WAS CONTACTED. MANUFACTURER CLAIMED FAILURE RESULTED FROM UNDER-INFLATION AND HIGH SPEED, BUT DID NOT INSPECT TIRE. VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE. DRIVER NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON MAY 24, 2001. DRIVER CALLED FORD DEALER. THEY SAID IT WAS A FAULTY SENSOR AND TO BRING IT IN. THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT IN THE GARAGE. ON MAY 26 DRIVER'S SON NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG HAD DEPLOYED. TOOK VEHICLE TO HILLARD'S FORD TLEPHOPNE NUMBER 817-370-5200. ON JUNE 1 THE SERVICE DESK AT THE DEALER CALLED AND SAID THEY WERE CONTACTING FORD TO HAVE SOMEONE CHECK IT OUT. ON JUNE 4, 2001 FORD SAID THAT THE CONTROL MODULE INDICATED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A CRASH. THE HEAD OF SERIVCE AT HILLARD'S SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAG. HE SAID THAT HE COULDN'T FIX IT WITHOUG FORD'S APPROVAL. HILLARD'S MANAGER SAID HE SUSPECTED A FAULTY SENSOR. PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE SAID THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE CAR AND THAT IT WAS AN INTERNAL FORD PROBLEM AND THEY WOULD NOT PAY THE CLAIM. ON JUNE 19TH THE SERIVCE MANAGE AT HILLARD CALLED AND SAID THE OWNER WOULD NEED TO SIGN A RELEASE TO REMOVE THE CONTROL MODULE SO THEY COULD SEND IT TO FORD FOR AN EVALUATION. HE SAID FORD WOULD PAY IF THEY WERE AT FAULT. PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE SAID THEY WOULD NOT PAY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. *AK

VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, PASSENGER'S AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY, RESULTING IN MINOR INJURY. HAD REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE AFTER TRAVELING 40-50MPH. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. DRIVER'S HEAD HIT WINDSHIELD. WAS TREATED AT EMERGENCY ROOM AND RELEASED. *AK
VEHICLE ACCELERATED SUDDENLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY, RESULTING IN A COLLISION WHICH CAUSED MINOR INJURIES, AND PROPERTY DAMAGE. VEHICLE AT THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIRS. *AK
BRAKE SWITCH HAD A LOOSE WIRE PER GATEWAY LINCOLN/MERCURY MECHANIC AND WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. DRIVER COULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. NO BRAKE LIGHTS WERE OPERATIONAL. FORTUNATELY THIS DID NOT OCCUR WHILE DRIVING OR VEHICLE WOULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED IN THE ROAD OR POTENTIAL REAR END COLLISION FROM FAILURE OF BRAKE LIGHTS TO ILLUMINATE WHILE SLOWING OR STOPPING.
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, RESULTING IN MINOR INJURIES. DEALER HAD DETERMINED THAT AIRBAGS WERE DEFECTIVE.*AK
THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE'S GEAR OUT OF PARK. THE MECHANIC HAD INSTALLED A JUMPER/RESISTOR ASSEMBLY ON 4/6/2001, FOR A RECALL ON THE STOP LAMPS. SINCE THAT REPAIR, THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED TWICE. *PH THE WAS JUMPER/RESISTOR ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES. *SC *JB
THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD AND THEN THE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH WOULD NOT ENGAGE. *AK *JB
MAJOR SHORTAGE IN BRAKE LIGHTS. THEY WORK WHENEVER THEY CHOOSE TOO. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY HAVE REPLACED BRAKE SWITCH SEVERAL TIMES. IT WORKS FOR ABOUT A WEEK THEN IT GOES OUT AGAIN. WHEN IT IS NOT WORKING I CANNOT GET. *AK
DOME LIGHT /TRUNK LIGHT OR INTERIOR LIGHT/ NO DASHBOARD LIGHT. SHE STATED THAT LIGHTS WENT OFF WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 20-30 MPH, VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE. DEALER COUILD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. *AK THE VEHICLE WENT IN REVERSE FROM DRIVE WHILE STOPPED AT SIGNAL. *YH
