FRONT CRASH AT 45-50 MPH, NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED, DAMAGE UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME. *AK
ANTI-LOCK SYSTEM BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON, AND BRAKES DON'T OPERATE PROPERLY. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK VEHICLE WAS STUCK IN PARK, DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH, A FEW WEEKS LATER , THE ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED, VEHICLE HAD NO BRAKE LIGHTS OR SIGNAL LIGHTS, NO WINDOW POWER, OR RADIO AND CD POWER, DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH AGAIN, CONSUMER STATES 3 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE THE ALARM SWITCH WENT OFF AND LOCKED VEHICLE, IGNITION SWITCH HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. *SLC
CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL 01S08 AND REPAIRS WERE MADE, HOWEVER RECALLED PART HAS FAILED, CAUSING NO BRAKE LIGHTS AND CAUSING VEHICLE TO LOCK UP IN PARK. *SLC

THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE MAKES NOISE, DIPS, AND APPEARS TO LOCK UP AT STOP SIGNS AT THE END OF A DOWN HILL INCLINE, THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, SHIFT CABLE, STABILIZER END LINKS, BRAKE PEDAL DEACTIVATOR SWITCH, AND DEALER HAS CLEANED VALVE BODY, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS, DEALER HAS ALSO CHECKED BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES, HOWEVER STATES THEY ARE GOOD. THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE STUCK CAUSING THE VEHICLES ENGINE TO RACE OUT OF CONTROL AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATED, THE CONSUMER FEELS THIS VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THIS TYPE OF FAILURE AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE. NLM
THIS VEHICLE IS IN THE SHOP ON A PRETTY REGULAR BASIS FOR ONE DEFECT OR ANOTHER. ESPECIALLY ELETRICAL DEFECTS. AS OF TODAY, 05/21/2001 THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" IS ON AND CAR IS GOING BACK TO THE SHOP. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD SEVERAL TIMES AT DIFF. LEVELS WITH NO REAL HELP. BRAKING FOR A STOP AT BOTTOM OF A SLOPE, SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ... STOOD UP ON BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP AT ALL.
WHEN ACCELERATING ONTO INTERSTATE HIGHWAY THE ENGINE MOMENTARILY CUT OUT,THE BATTERY LIGHT FLASHED ON THEN OFF & THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON & STAYED ON ALL THE WAY HOME.DEALER CHECKED IT OUT AND FOUND NO PROBLEM.IT HAS OPERATED PERFECTLY EVER SINCE.DEALER PERFORMED TEST P1237 & SSM 14041 & COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG..
STRONG FUEL ODOR INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE DURING AND AFTER THE BLOWER HAS BEEN RUN. PROBLEM OCCURS WHETHER OR NOT THE HEAT IS RUN. ODOR IS MOST NOTICEABLE WHEN THE BLOWER IS RUNNING AND THE CAR IS IDLING IN TRAFFIC. DEALER CANNOT REPRODUCE OR IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. *AK

LIGHT SWITCH IN MY 2000 FORD TAURUS WAGON, WHY FORD WILL NOT REPLACE THIS LIGHT. KNOB LISTED IN THE RECALLS 01V075000. HAVE BEEN TRYING TO HAVE THEM REPLACE IT SINCE 2001. THEY SAY I MUST BUY THE HOLD LIGHT SWITCH WITH THE KNOB AND PAY FOR IT TO BE INSTALLED. I ONLY NEED THE KNOB I PATCH IT UP AND IT IS STILL WORKING, BUT IS THIS FORD QUALITY I DON'T THINK SO. *JB
VEHICLE WAS IN AN HEAD-ON ACCIDENT AT 35 MPH NONE OF SAFETY FEATURES WORKED, INCLUDING AIR BAGS/SEAT BELTS, AND BRAKES. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED.*AK
ON JANUARY 31, WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON FRIGHTENING ME SERIOUSLY. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, AND CALLED FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FROM MY CELLULAR TELEPHONE. I WAS ADVISED TO IMMEDIATELY TAKE MY CAR TO THE NEAREST AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER, THAT BEING BURGE FORD OF SANTA MONICA. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE OFFERED TO SEND A TOW TRUCK BUT SAID I SHOULD BE OKAY TO DRIVE THE SHORT DISTANCE MYSELF. AS THIS OCCURRED AT THE END OF MY LUNCH BREAK, THIS CAUSED ME TO RETURN TO WORK VERY LATE THAT AFTERNOON. AFTER TWO DAYS ON 2/2/01, BURGE FORD ASSURED ME THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. I PICKED UP THE CAR AND DROVE LESS THAN TWO MILES FROM THE SERVICE CENTER. AGAIN, THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE BACK TO BURGE FORD. BURGE FORD ENCOURAGED ME TO STAY A FEW MINUTES, THEN 30 MINUTES ETC. TO SEE IF THE MECHANIC COULD FIX THE PROBLEM WHILE I WAITED. EVENTUALLY, THEY OFFERED TO PROVIDE ME WITH A FREE RENTAL CAR AS IT WAS NOW LATE AFTERNOON ON FRIDAY AND MY CAR WOULD HAVE TO STAY OVER THE WEEKEND. AGAIN, I HAD TO MISS A WORK. AGAINST MY WISHES, THEY DID NOT WRITE A NEW REPAIR ORDER FOR 2/2/01 BUT RE-OPENED THE PRIOR ORDER. IN ADDITION, HAVING EARLIER ASKED FOR MY COPY OF MY CLOSING SERVICE INVOICE FOR THE 1/31/01 SERVICE, THEY REFUSED TO RETURN THE COPY TO ME SO THAT I HAD NO PROOF THAT THEY HAD CLOSED OUT THE ORIGINAL SERVICE ORDER. UPON THE NEXT OCCURRENCE, I SWITCHED TO GALPIN FORDS SERVICE WHOM I FOUND TO BE MORE ETHICAL. I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO GALPIN FOR THE SAME RECURRING PROBLEM ON 2/8/01, 3/6/01, 5/16/01, AND 11/16/01. EACH TIME I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO GALPIN, I HAD TO PAY FOR A RENTAL AS ONE WAS NOT PROVIDED TO ME FREE OF CHARGE. ON MAY 17, 2001 AND ON DECEMBER 3, 2001 I WROTE TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY ABOUT THE RECURRING PROBLEM. *AK
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND FLASHES ON AND OFF, INDICATING A MALFUNCTION WITHIN THE SYSTEM, CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED THE DEALER, THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT DUE TO THIS MALFUNCTION AIR BAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT.*AK *JB
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES AT 25 MPH PEDAL WOULD GO TO FLOOR. ALSO, ENGINE WOULD MAKE A LOUD GRINDING SOUND. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ONCE ON SNOWY ROAD, AND TWICE ON DRY ROAD. VEHICLE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY/AT ANY SPEED. DEALER CANNOT REMEDY PROBLEM. *AK
AIRBAG INITIALLY DISPLAYED A FAILURE CODE AT 460 MILES AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE MONITOR ASSEMBLY. THE AIRBAG HAS NOW AGAIN REPORTED A FAILURE CODE (45). THE DEALER EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE INTERNAL COMPUTER SHOWED 2 FAILURES WITH CODES U2017 AND U2018. THEY DID NOT REPAIR THE PROBLEM. FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAD PROVIDED THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE FOLLOWING ADVISORY: INTERMITTENT AIR BAG LIGHT DTC U2017/U2018 SOME 2000/2001 TAURUS/SABLES EQUIPPED WITH SIDE AIR SEAT BAGS MAY EXHIBIT AN INTERMITTENT AIR BAG LAMP ON WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC) U2017 AND/OR U2018 (SIDE CRASH SENSOR COMMUNICATIONS ERROR) STORED IN MEMORY. ENGINEERING IS INVESTIGATING AND PLANS TO RELEASE A SERVICE PROCEDURE MID-FIRST QUARTER 2001. PLEASE CLEAR CODES AND RELEASE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME. IF DTC CODES ARE KEY ON ENGINE RUN OR HARD FAULT, PERFORM WORKSHOP MANUAL PINPOINT TESTS AND SERVICE AS NECESSARY. USUALLY IF CAR HOT INSIDE, ABS WARNING LIGHT ON DASH STAYS ON. BRAKES SEEM TO WORK, BUT ABS STATUS LIGHT WILL STAY ON. IF TURN OFF AND BACK ON, MAY TURN OFF.
HEADLIGHTS GO OUT INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING ANYWHERE FROM 5 SECONDS TO 1 MINUTE. DEALER CANNOT FINDCAUSE OF PROBLEM.*AK
2000 FORD TAURUS WITH SEVERAL REPAIRS MADE. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE HAD THE HEADS ON THE MOTOR REPLACED TWICE, DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WOULD NOT GO UP OR DOWN. COOLANT RESERVOIR WAS REPLACED. TRANSMISSION HAD WORK DONE TO IT, AND THE BACK LOCK DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY. *KB THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH HAD A FRONTAL IMPACT, AND DRIVER'S /PASSENGER'S AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, WHICH DID NOT PROTECT OCCUPANTS IN THIS CRASH. NO PRIOR PROBLEMS WITH AIRBAG SYSTEM. *AK THE AUTOBODY REPAIR SPECIALIST INDICATED THAT THE AIR BAG FAILURE TO DEPLOY WAS CONNECTED TO FAULTY SEAT BELTS. *YH
CONSUMER STATES ON 3 OCCASIONS THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT ENGAGE LEAVING THE CONSUMER STRANDED, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR REPAIR, THE DEALER REPAIRED THE BRAKE WIRE, THE SECOND TIME THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT ENGAGE THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH WHICH WAS A RECALL PART, WHICH HAD SHORTED OUT, THE THIRD OCASSION THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH WAS REPLACED AGAIN, HOWEVER THE DEALER COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THIS WAS HAPPENING. *JB
REPORTING A SAFETY ISSUE CONCERNING VEHICLE LEFT RUNNING WITH KEY IN IGNITION SWITCH AND DOORS LOCKED. UNABLE TO UNLOCK DOOR WITH REMOTE OPENER. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT IT WAS A SAFETY FEATURE, AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE. *AK

WHILE ON INTERSTATE AND COMING OFF AN EXIT RAMP CONSUMER LOST CONSCIOUSNESS AND HIT A GUARDRAIR, AND A TREE ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, NONE OF AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. *AK
WHEN APPROACHING A RED LIGHT AND SLOWING DOWN TO STOP CONSUMER FELT THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATE RATHER THAN SLOW TO A STOP, CONSUMER STOPPED THE VEHICLE FOR A HALF HOUR AND AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE IT VIOLENTLY ACCELERATED BACKWARDS, DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. NLM

ON FEBRUARY 17 A MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR WAS REPLACED. ALSO, PROCESSOR COMPUTER CHIP REPLACED, AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. VEHICLE HAD EARLIER PROBLEMS THA WERE STILL EXISTING. *AK
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND TURNED OFF ANOTHER VEHICLE SCRATCHED THIS VEHICLE ON T SIDE, AND SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITH LITTLE VISUAL DAMAGE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE IN A NEW VEHICLE. *AK
ENGINE HAD A BACKFIRE EXPLOSION WHILE TRYING TO START VEHICLE IN DRIVEWAY. THIS CAUSED VEHICLE TO BE INOPERABLE. NOTIFIED DEALER & HAD VEHICLE TOWED. MECHANIC CHECKED ENGINE & INDICATED A BACKFIRE HAD OCCURRED IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WHICH WAS SPLIT/CRACKED FROM THE EXPLOSION. WAS IN THE SHOP 4 DAYS BEFORE PARTS ARRIVED FOR REPAIRS. AFTER REPAIRS, PLACED ON DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE & ENGINE STILL NOT WORKING. MANUFACTURER ISSUED A RECALL #00B38 THE FIRST OF APRIL. VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTERED IN MAY 26, 2000. *AK

INITIALLY NOTICED A FUEL ODOR AT THE BEGINNING OF NOV. 2000. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS. IN FEBRUARY, I MENTIONED MY SLEEPINESS AND HEADACHES WHEN DRIVING THE CAR FOR LONG LENGTHS OF TIME TO MY EMPLOYER AND THEY THOUGHT THERE MIGHT BE A CO PROBLEM. WE PLACED A CO TUBE IN CAR AND IT WAS DIRTY WITHIN 72 HOURS. WENT TO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP (HILLER) AND THEY HAD 2 OTHER 2000 FORD TAURUS IN SHOP WITH SAME PROBLEM. DEALER WASN'T EXACTLY SURE WHAT PROBLEM WAS WITH CAR. FORD REPLACED THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKETS AND SAID THAT WOULD TAKE CARE OF PROBLEM. STILL WAS SLEEPY AND NAUSEOUS/HEADACHY. FORD DEALER SAID THAT FORD WILL NOT DO ANY MORE FOR ME. PUT NEW CO TUBE ON CENTER VENT AND THAT TOO BECAME DIRTY. DEALERSHIP STILL WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING AND TOOK TUBE AS EVIDENCE. I WENT OUT AND BOUGHT CO METER FROM HARDWARE STORE AND THE READING WENT OVER 300 AND ALARM SOUNDED. CALLED DEALER ON MON 03/26/01 AND THEY WOULD NOT TALK TO ME AND REFUSE TO GIVE ME NAME/NUMBER OF DISTRICT MANAGER. I AM WORRIED THAT IF NOTHING IS DONE, THAT MYSELF OR THE NEXT OWNER COULD CAUSE AND ACCIDENT OR WORSE, BE KILLEDFROM FALLING ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL.*AK
THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED IN CANADA REGARDING PEDAL POSITION ISSUES. *AK
I WAS TRAVELING SOUTH ON ROUTE 301 FROM CROFTON, MD AT 55 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE REAR RIGHT SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. I DID NOT HIT OR RUN OVER ANYTHING ON THE ROAD. A DRIVER BEHIND ME STOPPED AND TOLD ME HE SAW A PUFF OF SMOKE WHEN THE TIRE BLEW. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE TIRE BLEW FROM ON THE INSIDE OF THE RIM AND THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE SEPARATED COMPLETELY FROM THE REST OF THE TIRE. IT LOOKS AS IF THE INSIDE RIM OF THE TIRE WAS CUT OUT. THE TIRE DID NOT APPEAR TO BE UNDER INFLATED BEFORE I BEGAN DRIVING. I TOOK THE TIRE BACK TO THE FORD DEALER, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE NOT LIABLE FOR THE TIRES, TAKE IT TO A FIRESTONE DEALER. THE FIRESTONE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE TIRE MAY HAVE BEEN UNDER INFLATED, OR THAT THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A PUNCTURE TO THE TIRE (I DO NOT BELEIVE EITHER THEORY). I HAD TWO OTHER TIRE TECHNICIANS LOOK AT THE TIRE, AND THEY HAD NEVER SEEN A TIRE BLOW THIS WAY. I REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY, AND FIRESTONE. I HAVE REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES ON MY CAR. I STILL HAVE THE FIRESTONE TIRES IF THERE IS A NEED TO INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM. (DOT NUMBER: 8XX8 TIRESIZE: P21560R16)
WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED WITH CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED. SUDDENLY VEHICLE COMMENCED TO ACCELERATE AND SMOKE WAS COMING FROM UNDER HOOD, HOT PLASTIC FROM THE DASH WAS FALLING ON THE LEG OF THE DRIVER, ALSO, DRIVER'S SHOE AND SOCK CAUGHT ON FIRE; VEHICLE LEFT ROAD INTO A FIELD AND STRUCK A TREE. STATE PATROL ARRIVED TO ASSIST. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
CONSUMER WAS APPLYING BRAKES & VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. DEALER INSPECTED VEHICLE & FOUND CARBON BUILD UP AS THE CAUSE. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 8,000 MILES ON IT. *AK
FRONT WINDSHIELD IS SLANTED TOO MUCH, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO WASH WINDOW, AND IN SUNNY WEATHER, REFLECTION IS BAD. BECAUSE OF THE WAY IT'S SLANTED CONSUMER CAN HARDLY SEE. THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. FORDS OWNERS MANUAL SAID THE BAG WOULD MALFUNCTION AND POSSIBLY DEPLOY. TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ASAP. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERS POSSION SINCE 10/19/00 AND I AM TOLD THAT THE DEFECTIVE PART IS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER. HOW CAN THIS BE ACCEPTABLE? I USE THIS VEHICLE IN MY WORK AND DEPEND ON IT. IT'S BEEN 5 WORKING DAYS & A WEEKEND AND IT APPEARS THAT IT WILL BE NEXT WEEK BEFORE (NO PROMISE) THE PART ARRIVES. WHAT CAN YOU DO? MY DAUGHTER IS A GRAD STUDENT WHO COMMUTES FROM MICHIGAN CITY, IN TO CHICAGO, IL 3 TIMES A WEEK IN THE EVENINGS. ON OCTOBER 7TH 2009 SHE LEFT SCHOOL AND TURNED ON WIPERS THE WORKED FOR A SECOND THEN STOPPED. WE NOTICED THAT A FUSE WAS BLOWN REPLACED IT AND THEY WORKED FOR A SECOND WE REPLACED THE BLOWN FUSE ONE MORE TIME AND THE WIPERS WORKED AS BEFORE UNTIL THE FUSE WAS BLOWN AGAIN. I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND A RECALL FOR 2000 FORD TAURUS FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL. *TR
