ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHILE SITTING AT AN INTERSECTION WITH FOOT ON BRAKE, VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY SURGED OUT INTO INTERSECTION LIKE SOMEONE PUT FOOT ON ACCELERATER. CONSUMER FELT THIS WAS UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION. *AK CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER BUT WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*SLC
OVER THE PAST TWO AND A HALF YEARS CONSUMER HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING REOCCURRING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST INCIDENT CONSUMER HAD THE FORD MECHANIC CHECK ON A PERSISTENT TRANSMISSION LEAK, WHICH WAS CORRECTED. AFTERWARD THE TRANSMISSION HAD IT'S FIRST FAILURE AND QUIT PULLING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FORD FOR REPAIRS. CONSUMER REQUESTED ASSISTANCE WITH AN ADJUSTMENT IN COST BUT WAS DECLINED. THE VEHICLE STILL LOSES POWER AND STOPS PULLING FOR A BRIEF PERIOD OF TIME. CONSUMER TRADED IN THE VEHICLE AND REQUESTS THAT FORD REIMBURSE FOR MONIES PAID. *JG
SINCE MAY OF 2000 THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE STARTER SYSTEM JAMMING. CONSEQUENCES OF DOWN SYSTEMS...SUCH AS WINDSHIELD WIPERS, ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, TURN SIGNALS,A/C AND BLOWER. ONE INCIDENT LED TO COMPLETE SHUT DOWN OF CAR...DEAD WOULD NOT START. DEALER REPLACED TWO STARTERS AND THEN ONE "STARTER SWITCH'. THAT FAILED AS WELL AND DEALER TRIED TO REPAIR ON 9/25/2000 AND CONFESSED THEY COULD NOT AND THAT THEY HAD CONFERRED WITH FORD BEFORE LAST TWO REPAIRS AND THEY SAID FORD KNEW OF THIS PROBLEM AND DIDN'T EXPECT A FIX TILL 4TH QTR.. THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NO SAFETY ISSUE HERE AND I QUESTION THAT BECAUSE MY CAR WHENT INTO COMPLETE SHUT DOWN OF ALL SYSTEMS AND DEALER COULDN'T EVEN START IT.
THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON CONSTANTLY. LIGHTS REMAIN ON WHEN THE CAR IS OFF. THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE PROVIDING NO PROTECTION BUT, NO ACCIDENT HAS OCCURRED, YET. THE REPAIR SHOP IS VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE FAILURE. THE SHOP REPORTED THAT A FEW 2000 TAURUS AND SABLE'S HAVE HAD FAILURES WITH THIS PART. A CAR WAS IN THE SHOP WAITING FOR THE PART FOR 5 DAYS WHEN MY WIFE BROUGHT OUR CAR IN FOR REPAIRS. THE PART IS STILL ON BACKORDER FROM FORD, AGAIN SUGGESTING A HIGH USE ITEM.*AK
MACHINING ROTORS DID NOT FIX PROBLEM. HAD TO REPLACE ROTORS. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THE DEALER HAS HAD IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER BUYERS. AFTER REPLACING THE FRONT ROTRS TWICE AND REPLACING THE REAR BRAKES DUE TO HIGH SPOTS THE PROBLEM WAS FINALLY FIXED. NLM
STABILIZER BAR IN THE REAR WHEELS BROKE AND THE REAR WHEELS WERE READY TO COME OFF OUR CAR. IF WE HAD NOT PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY EXACTLY WHEN WE DID, EVERYONE IN OUR AUTOMOBILE WOULD MOST LIKELY HAVE BEEN KILLED. THE LEFT REAR WHEEL STARTED COMING OFF APPROXIMATELY TWO BLOCKS AFTER WE EXITED THE FREEWAY. THE AUTOMOBILE WENT OUT OF CONTROL, AND WE HAD TO HAVE OUR BRAND NEW FORD TAURUS TOWED TO OUR CAR DEALERSHIP. OUR DEALER REFUSED TO TAKE OUR CAR BACK, AFTER OUR CAR HAD THREE SAFETY PROBLEMS, AND WE ARE NOW IN LITIGATION.*AK

WHEN ACCELERATING UP HILLS, CAR MAKES A CLINGING NOISE & WILL NOT GO ANY FASTER. IT SOUNDS AS IF ENGINE MAY BLOW UP IF YOU TRY TO PRESS GAS PEDAL HARDER. THIS WAS REPORTED TO DEALER AND THEY CLAIMED THEY FIXED. IT SEEMED OKAY BUT NEXT DAY PROBLEM STILL. *AK
WHILE IN MOTION CONSUMER TRIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY BRAKING, THE ENGINE STARTED TO RACE. THE HARDER CONSUMER PRESSED THE FASTER THE ENGINE RACED. A RECALL NOTICE WAS SENT TO CONSUMER. CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 25MPH ON A SIDE STREET WHILE IT WAS RAINING AT THAT EVENING. SHE WAS GOING DOWN A MOUNTAIN HILL AND VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. VEHICLE STARTED TO SLIDE TO LEFT INTO THE CROSS LANE. SHE APPLIED BRAKES, AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. THEN, SHE SLAMMED INTO A MUD ENBANKMENT. STARTED VEHICLE UP, AND SHE DROVE AWAY TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. A WEEK BEFORE THAT INCIDENT, SERVICE DEPARTMENT KEPT VEHICLE FOR FIVE DAYS. MECHANIC GAVE HER SERVERAL PAGES OF INVESTIGATION OF VEHICLE, AND TOLD HER THAT SHE HAD TO USE SUMMER BLEND GASOLINE SO THAT HER VEHICLE WOULDN'T STALL. *AK
I RECEIVED FMVSS NO 110- DOES THIS RESULT IN THIS PROBLEM WITH MY CAR. NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED IN THE SUMMARY. *AK
FUEL LINES ARE RUBBING AGAINST SHOCK TOWER WHICH CAN CAUSE FUEL LEAK. HOSE IS NOW SHOWING MARKING, BUT EVENTUALLY WILL WEAR. ALSO, POWER STEERING HOSE IS RUBBING AGAINST AIR CONDITIONER. *AK
FAULTY FUEL PUMPS; VEHICLE HAD TWO FUEL PUMPS REPLACED BY THE DEALER, AND PROBLEM STILL REOCCURRING. CONSUMER WAITING ON TOW TRUCK WHILE MAKING THIS REPORT TO NHTSA VIA MOBLE PHONE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
THE REAR MIDDLE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR ON MY 2000 TAURUS HAS FAILED MAKING THE REAR MIDDLE SEAT USUABLE ONLY WITHOUT A SEAT BELT. THE SEAT BELT ITSELF RETRACTED ALL THE WAY BACK INTO THE MECHANISM BUT WILL NOT RETRACT BACK OUT. THIS IS THE SECOND SUCH FAILURE OF THE REAR SEAT BELT I'VE EXPERIENCED. PREVIOUSLY, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT GOT STUCK IN A SIMILAR FASHION. THIS CAR IS BECOMING INCREASING UNSAFE AND I AM LOOSING CONFIDENCE IN ITS OTHER HIGHLY TOUTED SAFETY FEATURES.
CONSUMER STATES WHEN MAKING A PANIC STOP, THE FRONT BRAKES VIBRATE 50-60 MPH, THE VEHICLE GLIDES WHEN MAKING A STOP, THIS OCCURS WHEN A CONSUMER HITS A BUMP IN THE ROAD OR APPLYING THE BRAKES ON A CURVE, ALSO WHEN COMING TO S STOP BRAKES MAKE A GRINDING NOISE, THE DEALER HAS TURNED ROTORS AND DRUMS AND REPLACED REAR BRAKE SHOES, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM STILL REMAINS.*JB

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT WHEN I HEARD A SOUND AS IF A LARGE TRUCK WAS APPROACHING. I CHECKED TO SEE IF THAT WERE THE CASE, SAW NO VEHICLE, REALIZED THE CAR WAS BEGINNING TO VIBRATE AND SLOW DOWN SO I DECIDED THAT IT MIGHT BE A TIRE. AT THIS POINT, I BEGAN TO SLOW AND DRIVE TO THE SHOULDER. AS I PULLED OFF THE ROAD ONTO THE SHOULDER, I HEARD THE TIRE HITTING THE CAR. I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR WITHOUT SERIOUS INJURY OR DAMAGE TO THE CAR.( DOT NUMBER: 8XX81RT110 TIRE SIZE: P215/60R16 )

AFTER TRAVELING IN VEHICLE AT ALL TIME BRAKE LIGHT WOULD STAY ON. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED TO REPLACE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. *AK
MY HUSBAND AND I WERE RETURNING HOME IN OUR 2000 TAURUS W/ADJUSTABLE PEDALS. AS HE WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. IT RAN THROUGH A HEDGE AND STRUCK A TREE AFTER TRAVELING ABOUT 10 FEET. THE CAR SUSTAINED ABOUT $6000 DAMAGE AND, DESPITE THE FACT I (SALLY) WAS WEARING MY SAFETY BELT, I SUSTAINED A CRACKED STURNUM. PRIOR TO THIS EVENT, MY HUSBAND WAS CONCERNED ABOUT HOW CLOSE THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS WERE TOGETHER. HE MENTIONED THIS TO ME MANY TIMES, BUT WE NEVER CONTACTED FORD ABOUT IT. THE CAR STILL HAS THE SAME PEDALS. I WEAR A 9.5 B SHOE AND ROBERT WEARS AN 11D. *AK
2000 TAURUS WITH DURATEC ENGINE HAS A 'COMPLETE' ENGINE SHUTDOWN AT 35 MPH. WHEN THE 'COMPLETE' ENGINE SHUTDOWN OCCURRED, I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I MANAGED TO STOP THE VEHICAL IN THE ROAD. THIS WAS A 'LIFE THREATENING' EXPERIENCE AS I DIRECTED TRAFFIC AROUND MY 'DEAD' CAR. A WRECKER WAS CALLED AND THE CAR TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THREE DAYS TO FIX THE CAR! IF THE "COMPLETE ENGINE SHUTDOWN" OCCURRED WHEN TRAVELLING 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE RESULT COULD BE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. FORD NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE THE "QUALITY" DEFECT IN THIS CAR. I HAVE GREAT CONCERN WHEN DRIVING THIS VEHICAL FOR FEAR OF AN ENGINE SHUTDOWN ON THE HIGHWAY. *AK
FOR THE RECORD: FRONT END HAS A SEVERE VIBRATION THAT IS COMING FROM THE ENGINE CRADLE, ESPEC. WHEN LIGHT BRAKING IS TAKING AFFECT OR WHEN EVER YOUR FOOIT IS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS IS MY SEVENTH TAURUS AND HAVE NEVER COME ACCROSS THIS BEFORE I SUSPECT THAT IT COULD BE STRUT VALVE THAT MIGHT BE PACKING. THE DEALER WILL ONLY TURN THE ROTOR OR OFFER TO BALANCE THE TIRES. THIS IS NOT THE PROBLEM SO I APT TO WAIT. THE SSYSMTOM ALSO FEELS LIKE YOU HAVE 80 PSI IN THE FRONT TIRES. I'M ALMOST POSITIE ITS STRUT REBONS/PRELOAD PACKING. THIS WILL BE A BIG CONCERN TO NEW OWERS AND IT IS NOT A ISOLATED CASE. THIS COULD LEAD TO MAJOR SUSPENSION DAMAME ALONG WITH IMPROPER HANDLING ESP. UNDER HIGH SPEED BRAKING. THE WHEEL IS NOT ABLE TO FOLLOW THE IMPERFECTIONS OF THE ROAD SURFACE THEREFORE THE CAR WILL HANDLE IN A VIOLENT MANNER. FORD SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS AND RECALL THESE CARS BEFORE ACCEDENTS START OCCURRING.*AK

PE00020, 2000 FORD TAURUS, TIRE SIZE P215/60R16, FRONT PASSENGER'S TIRE HAD A FLAT DUE TO A SCREW IN THE TIRE AND THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE HAD ALREADY BEEN PLUGGED. *AK THE CUSTOMER STATES THAT THE DEALER SOLD THE NEW VEHICLE WITH A PLUGGED TIRE, BUT THE DEALER DENY PUGGING THE TIRE. *YH

WHILE DRIVING ABS BRAKING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING WHEELS TO LOCK UP IN DRY CONDITIONS, WHICH HAD A 36 FEET LONG OF SKID MARKS,AND RESULTED IN A FRONTAL IMPACT. I PURCHASED A 2000 MODEL FORD TAURUS LX FROM MARIETTA FORD ON 7/10/2000. THE VIN # IS [XXX]. ON 7/27 MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. UPON INVESTIGATION AND REPAIR THE AIRBAG SENSORS FAILED, CAUSING THE AIRBAGS TO NOT DEPLOY. THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING THE BRAKES AND WHEELS TO LOCK AND MAKING THE VEHICLE UNABLE TO STOP TO AVOID A COLLISION. FORD HAS FAILED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY DESPITE REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT THEM AND FORWARDING THEM ALL THE APPROPRIATE INFORMATION. FUEL PUMP AND FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR WAS REPLACED ON 7-11-00 WHEN CAR HAD 7812 MILES ON IT. IT HAD DIED, BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED AGAIN AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. ON 7-27-00 THE CAR DIED COMPLETELY AND WOULD NOT START (HAD 8768 MILES ON IT). IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED AGAIN. *AK
CONSUMERS VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE WITH FOOT ON BRAKE RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE HITTING A FENCE, CURB, AND PARKED CAR, CONSUMER SUFFERED SORE HEAD, SHOULDERS AND BACK. *ET
WHILE MAKING A STOP AT A LIGHT AND WHEN DEPRESSING GAS PEDAL VEHICLE IDLED HIGH AND STALLED WITHOUT ANY INDICATION. DEALER STATED THAT FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MANUFACTURER HAD NO REPLACEMENT. *AK
VEHICLE STALLED DUE TO LOSS OF FUEL PRESSURE. KNOWN PROBLEM BY FORD. THIRD INSTANCE WITH THIS VEHICLE, REQUIRED TO TOW VEHICLE TO DEALER, BUT NO REPAIRED DUE TO LACK OF PARTS. VEHICLE STARTED NEXT DAY. PROBLEM WITH HIGH AMBIENT AIR TEMPERATURES. WHY NO RECALL?*AK
TIRE COMPLETELY BLOWN OUT--NO TREAD REMAINED (JUST CAME APART). LOST CONTROL OF CAR AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO SIDE. NEXT DAY TOOK THE REMINING TIRE PART (LIMITED TO THE RIM ONLY) TO JACK ROACH FORD (WHERE I HAVE MY CAR SERVICED). THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAD NO RESPONSIBILITY AND TO TAKE IT TO FIRESTONE. I DID AND THEY REPLACED THE TIRE WITH A SIMILAR TIRE. I HAVE SERIOUS CONCERNS ABOUT THE OVERALL RELIABILITY OF THESE TIRES. I SENT A LETTER TO FORD AND TO FIRESTONE REQUESTING THEM TO REPLACE ALL OF MY TIRES WITH A MORE DEPENDABLE AND HIGHER QUALITY TIRE. THIS LETTER WAS SENT ON AUGUST 10TH. I FAXED A COPY TO YOUR OFFICE ON AUGUST 15 WITH TH FIRESTONE INVOICE(WHICH ALSO INDICATED THAT NO TREAD REMAINED ON THE TIRE). A REPRESENTATIVE FROM FORD CALLED ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 2ND INDICATING THAT FORD ACKNOWLEDGED THE RECEIPT OF THE LETTER, AND WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY AND WILL NOT REPLACE THE TIRES. THEY INSISTED THAT I NEED TO FOLLOW-UP WITH FIRESTONE. WHEN MY TIRE BLEW OUT ON A SIX LANE HIGHWAY, MY SIX YEAR OLD SON AND I WERE IN THE CAR. I HATE TO THINK THAT WE COULD HAVE BEEN FATALITIES. I FEEL IT WAS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT THAT PUT MY LIFE AND SON'S LIFE AT RISK. FUEL PUMP FAILURE UPON DRIVING OFF DEALER'S LOT. DEALER MADE REPAIRS AND REPLACED MODULE SENSOR. ALSO, VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE INTERMITTENTLY WHILE PARKING AND DRIVING. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS ON THIS MATTER. *AK
I HAVE A 2000 FORD TAURUS WITH ADJUSTABLE PEDALS. THE CAR WAS SERVICED PER THE INSTRUCTIONS ASSOCIATED WITH RECALL CAMPAIGN 01V078000. SHORTLY AFTER THIS REPAIR, THE BRAKE SWITCH WAS CONTAMINATED WITH GREASE CAUSING THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH TO BE STUCK IN THE CLOSED POSITION DISABLING THE CRUISE CONTROL AND CAUSING THE STOP LAMPS TO STAY ON. THE CAR WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. A LITTLE OVER ONE YEAR LATER, THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AND WAS AGAIN FIXED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. IN ESSENCE, THE PROBLEM WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ADDRESSED IN RECALL CAMPAIGN 01V078000 APPARENTLY WAS NOT ADEQUATELY ADDRESSED AS THE PROBLEM AS REOCCURRED NOT ONCE BUT TWICE SINCE THE REPAIRS ASSOCIATED WITH THE ORIGINAL RECALL.*AK
FUEL PUMP FAILED PREMATURELY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL WHILE DRIVING. NLM
THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IN LESS THAN FOUR MONTHS I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE CAR INTO THE SHOP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME THE CAR STALLED AS I WAS ACCELERATING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART AND I HAD TO BE TOWED AFTER OWNING THE CAR FOR 17 DAYS. THE SECOND AND THIRD TIME THE CAR STALLED IT WAS WHILE GOING 20-30 MPH AFTER HAVING IDLED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. BOTH TIMES THE CAR RESTARTED. EACH TIME BEFORE IT STALLED THE ENGINE COUGHED AND IDLED ROUGHLY, THE RPM NEEDLE BOUNCED WILDLY AND THEN THE CAR DIED INCLUDING POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSORS AND SAID THAT WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. THREE WEEKS LATER IT STALLED FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE DEALER I TOOK IT TO THAT TIME SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT AND THAT I WOULD JUST HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS LAST TIME THEY SAID THEY WOULD PROBABLY HAVE TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP BUT THAT IT COULD TAKE UP TO 2 WEEKS SINCE FORD IS HAVING PROBLEMS DELIVERING THE PARTS. I FIND THIS UNACCEPTABLE SINCE THERE ARE ALREADY A NUMBER OF IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS IN YOUR DATA BASE INCLUDING FROM FLEET SERVICES WHO HAVE HAD MULTIPLE CARS FAIL. THE FIRST DEALER EVEN SAID HE WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH A NUMBER OF THE TAURUSES HE HAD SOLD RECENTLY. THIS CANNOT BE COMING AS A BIG SURPRISE TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THE MOST RECENT SERVICE MANAGER ALSO SAID AND I QUOTE " THAT FROM MY PERSPECTIVE I DON'T SEE THIS AS A MAJOR PROBLEM." SO NOW I AM STUCK WITH RENTAL CAR FEES AND CAR PAYMENTS BECAUSE FORD CAN NOT OFFER RELIABLE SERVICE IN A TIMELY FASHION. TO DATE THE CAR HAS BEEN UNAVAILABLE TO ME FOR 13 DAYS AND COUNTING. FORD JUST DOESN'T SEEM TO SHOW AMPLE CONCERN THAT STALLING UNEXPECTEDLY ON THE HIGHWAY PLACES MY LIFE, OTHERS' LIVES AND THE PATIENTS' UNDER MY CARE LIVES IN DANGER. YOU WOULD THINK AFTER THE FIRESTONE/EXPLORER FIASCO THEY WOULD AT LEAST PAY LIP SERVICE TO THE IDEA OF QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE. *AK
WHEN VEHICLE IS LOADED WITH ABOUT 600 POUNDS AND WHEN TURNING/ DRIVING VEHICLE MAKES NOISE AT THE BOTTOM WHERE THE EXHAUST PIPE IS LOCATED. BUT, WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IT WON'T MAKE NOISE. APPARENTLY THE EXHAUST PIPE MAKES CONTACT WHENEVER TRAVELING OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD. OWNER CONCERNED THAT DAMAGE COULD BE DONE TO THE PIPE. *AK *ML
INTERMEDIATE ODOR OF FUEL INSIDE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT,LASTS FOR SEVERAL SECONDS TO SEVERAL MINUTES, FIVE OCCURANCES TO DATE, DEALER CAN NOT FIND PROBLEM CAUSE, CAR SITS IN YARD NOW, WIFE BECAME PHYSICALLY SICK LAST TIME, IS AFRAID TO DRIVE CAR ESPECIALLY WITH YOUNG NEPHEWS INSIDE, PROBLEM OCCURS AT VARYING SPEEDS AND ON VARIED ROAD CONDITIONS, WHEN IT DOES OCCUR SMELL OF GAS IS SO STRONG INSIDE CAR WINDOWS AND MOONROOF MUST BE OPENED TO CLEAR THE SMELL FROM THE VEHICLE, WE FEEL THE HEALTH HAZARDS OF BREATHING GAS FUMES ARE WELL KNOWN AS WELL AS THE, POTENTIAL RISKS OF A FIRE IS HIGH. *AK
WE WERE SITTING IN "BUMPER TO BUMPER" TRAFFIC ON A DOWNWARD INCLINE, WHEN THE CAR AHEAD OF ME MOVED FORWARD ABOUT 8 TO 10 FEET. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE TO COAST FORWARD ALSO, BUT MY CAR MOVED AT A FASTER RATE THAN I ANTICIPATED. I QUICKLY TRIED TO BRAKE THE CAR AGAIN, WHEN MY FOOT CAUGHT UP ON SOMETHING IN THE PROCESS AND I COULD NOT DEPRESS THE BRAKE PETAL. IN TWO SECONDS I WAS INTO THE OTHER CAR. THE OBSTRUCTION PROVED TO BE THE BRAKE LIGHT BOOT SWITCH. UPON INQUIRY LATER, MY DEALER SAID THE BOOT SWITCH COULD NOT BE CHANGED OR MOVED, WITHOUT A REDESIGN BY THE MANUFACTURER, FORD. *AK
AUTO TOTALED, THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. *AK THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT AND HE LOSS CONTROL OF THE VEHILCE. *PH *JB
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. COULD NOT RESTART VEHICLE, AND THEN VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. OWNER HAD CONFLICT WITH DEALER OVER A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE AND PAYMENT OF REPAIRS. *AK *ML
THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE SINCE WE BOUGHT IT FROM TEAM FORD IN JUNE. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES FOR TWO DAYS PER INCIDENT AND THE SAME PROBLEMS CONTINUE WHILE THEY GRADUALLY DISCOVER MORE PROBLEMS EACH TIME. A CAR WITH 5200 MILES ON IT SHOULD NOT NEED THE VARIED AND UNIQUE COMBINATION OF REPLACEMENTS OUR CAR HAS REQUIRED. THE CAR MAKES A ROTATIONAL GRINDING NOISE WHILE AT FREEWAY SPEEDS, WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS OR TAKING AN INVOLVED TURN THE CAR MAKES A POP/CRACK NOISE FROM LEFT/FRONT OF CAR. THE CAR HAS STALLED THREE TIMES DURING FREEWAY AND CITY DRIVING. THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW CREAKS AND SHUDDERS WHEN BEING PUT UP OR DOWN. THE CAR HESITATES WHEN STARTED IN 80 DEGREE WEATHER AND COMES CLOSE TO STALLING WHEN INITIALLY PUTTING INTO GEAR. NOW AND THEN CAR MAKES LUNGING MOTION AND NOISE WHEN PUT IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. I COULD GO ON AND ON...I AM REPORTING DEFECTS AND PROBLEMS TO BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND THE NEVADA ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. PLEASE HELP!
